Moved almost a week ago (January, 2020), and Mackie Moving (Fredericton) made this by far the worst moving experience from several over the years. I had used Mackie 2.5 years ago and the move went fairly smoothly with just a mirror damaged. This time, terrible! I was given an estimate without the company coming in to do an assessment. Boom.....at the end of the move, another 1.5 hrs. was tacked on. With an estimated arrival time for 11 a.m., they arrived late, between 12:45 & 1 p.m. In an attempt to make up time, they added a 4th person. At the moving out location, they complained about having to carry 'wall' pictures that were placed in a box and never took other large pictures that were leaned against the wall. They also didn't take the computer printer. At the move- in sight, the two guys that carried in the belongings from the elevator handled packed boxes like the air port people handle your luggage. It was evident that many boxes with contents were scrambled. A lamp shade was broken due to careless handling and a painted china cabinet had some surface paint scratched off due to other items being placed on top. At the delivery address, neither of the two beds were put together properly (bed frames). Initially, we only knew of the bed in the master bedroom as a piece of the support frame had fallen off. I alerted the company manager who stated that he or someone else would be around to fix it, however, no one ever came. It wasn't until 6 days after the move we realized that the second bed frame wasn't put together properly when it collapsed. When taking some items (at the delivery sight) down to the parking garage, one of the guys was pushing a fridge cart with a few plastic bins on it. After getting off the elevator, I informed the two gentlemen that the ramp (to avoid the curb) was to the left. I no sooner had the words out of my mouth and the guy with the cart dropped off the curb causing at least two bins to go flying onto the concrete floor, one opening up and numerous items went flying out of the bin. I have yet to inspect the contents to see if any was broken. (contained mostly Christmas decorations) When I was younger, a move to a different residence consisted of renting a cube van, getting some buddies together, along with some pizza and beer. I could never remember anything being damaged, probably because the 'friends' respected the property they were moving. Pertaining to the scratched paint on the china cabinet and the lamp shade, the manager stated that insurance covers any damage. Their offered insurance that I declined cost $150.00. I declined it because my tenant's insurance was in place. It has a deductible of $200.00. In other words, for this company (Mackie Moving), if the damage they cause is within $150.00, it's too bad, so sad. I would never use them again and would certainly not recommend them to anyone else. ..............RC
