The crew who delivered our small shipment was professional however it was the office staff that brings the rating down to one star.
As a military move both the company, who is contracted by the US govt, and our family must follow protocols established by the contract Covan holds with the govt.
First, Covan was unable to deliver our goods by the contractual date even though our goods resided in the town where they were to be delivered (they simply hadn't planned properly).
Secondly, and more importantly, they moved our items to storage and claimed we didn't respond to their offer of delivery in time to make it happen (still late though).
The point of contact at Covan claimed their department arrives at 0700 each day so therefore, the six business hours we had to respond had expired at 1048 the day after being notified at 1448.
But here's the problem. When I had phoned someone in that department the week prior I was told by the receptionist they don't get in until 0800.
When I phoned the receptionist while this was happening I asked specifically what the hours were for the company and told some departments start at 0900 and some start at 0800.
When you Google Covan you will see they list 0800 as their opening time.
And most importantly of all, when you visit Covans own website, you will see they list 0800-1700 as their business hours.
When confronted with all this information Covan continued to insist they were in the right and the offer to deliver our goods had expired (and thus denying our request for an inconvenience claim).
The rest, and the majority, of our household goods have arrived to the town where we reside. And like the first shipment cannot be delivered until after the contracted date. I'll update how professional and careful the crew is when unloading an entire truck of possessions.
Its a shame to treat military families this way. It's a shame to treat any family or client this way.
