I contacted several movers way back in June/18, as we were moving from Victoria to Nanaimo and I wanted to compare rates as well as service, as only my husband would be there the day of the move and I wanted to make sure of certain things as we are seniors. On the phone, I talked with **** to make the appointment. I asked certain questions like could I get them to pack our tv's, some glass pieces for tables and a poster my husband has. I asked these questions as I know movers are not responsible for items they don't pack if they are broken. **** came by, said he would get back to us in a few days to give an estimate and it took over 10 days to get that estimate of 1500 and change. We booked them. The day of the move, the guys showed up, were pleasant enough, however, when they got to our new place is when it fell apart. We moved from a 1900 square ft house to a 1000 sq ft house. In order to have room, everything we didn't need immediately had STORAGE tape on it. They were asked to put EVERYTHING with storage tape in the outbuilding. That did not happen! They continually argued saying it had kitchen etc on it and ended up putting almost everything in the house! There was absolutely NO ROOM! My husband CONTINUALLY caught them on their phones! One of them DROPPED a piece of glass for one of my table tops! The final bill was 150.00 over the estimate. I did not mention the other things that happened when I contacted Dowells about the broken glass. I wanted my glass replaced and that was it. The responses I got were - "I'll get back to you", I'll have the claims department get back to you", I'll have to call you back", which went on for over 2 weeks. Finally I reached the management, I assume, as he finally sent me a claims form. I filled it out and waited for the 3 weeks it said to process. Then, started calling again! I got the same responses, along with a new one! "We don't have the form, it must have been sent to the wrong email address". I resent it, starting calling AGAIN! At the end of September, my call was finally taken and the response this time was "we don't cover glass unless it's in the contract". I argued with him that I asked for them to pack it, and just got "read your contract". He finally agreed to a settlement of half the cost to replace the glass at 75.00, and would get the check "right in the mail!" Its now 3 weeks later and no check., so I am done. Had they done what they promised, I would not have written this review. The fact that their movers were not tipped, should have given them a clue

I spent a month looking for a moving company (BC-QC), with the storage option. I couldn't find any company that met my needs and budget. I first reached out to Dowell for a local move only (i haven't figured out the logistic of my national move yet) but I found out they offer the integrated service (local move, storage, and national move) at a competitive price. The service is friendly, staff has been patient will all my questions, the local move went smooth and quick. I haven't shipped my belongings across the country yet and can't comment on that, but overall, I am extremely satisfied to date, and I recommend that you check them out if you are looking to manage a more complex move requiring some storage between 2 addresses. Kudos to Adam, Randall, Cord and Colin.

The company came through for our move(s) when others couldn't. There crew was professional, on time and very efficient in moving our furniture out of our downtown condo and about 10 days later, delivering some to another apartment. I highly recommend them.

This moving company is awful. We got a quote to move from Canada to the US with storage until we could secure a residence in the US. Not only did they lose our precious belongings (wife's wedding dress and electronics) they sent the shipment down early, causing us to scramble for storage venues with only 24 hours notice. It's also been 4 months of calling just to get a receipt for tax purposes and they STILL haven't sent one. They damaged all of our bikes and haven't reimbursed us and our furniture was also broken in the move. The level of incompetence is just stunning.

Estimate for work done and time allocated was spot on, I was always able to speak with someone, care was taken with fragile items, especially my grandmother clock. We'll see how it all works out when items come out of storage!

Dowell helped move our house contents first into their storage, later into our condo. Adam, who coordinated our move, was polite and helpful. The moving crew was punctual, careful and hard working. There were a few minor hick ups along the way, but overall it was a job well done. We have done several moves in the past, and this one was one of the less troublesome. We would not hesitate to use them again.

Dowell's Moving & Storage were very pleasant and accommodating. I had them pick up a bedroom suite in Duncan and then come to my house in Victoria to pick up a large sectional couch to also put in storage in their facility while my house was renovated. While in my house I had them move a piano as well as a heavy armoire. They were very careful of my furniture and my recently refinished wood floors, which I greatly appreciated. When it was time to have my furniture taken out of storage, they did so in a very timely fashion. I would certainly use their services again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend my friends and family to either!

I recently moved from Victoria to West Kelowna via Dowell's and they were wonderful!! Absolutely wonderful. The packer, Randall, was amazing, fast and efficient and I could find everything at the destination, and safely packed!! And driver Mike H magically negotiated his very long trailer up my very long "driveway"...backwards!! From the crew in Victoria to the crew in West Kelowna, my move was as smooth as it could be!! I'm recommending Dowell's and Main Man Adam Levi to all my Victoria friends!! Thanks, guys!!

We have moved a lot and this was the first group of movers who went above and beyond. They were careful with our belongings, wrapping them well. They carried things efficiently but with caution. They were polite and professional. We will use Dowell's again.

I would definitely not recommend this company. They put in low quotes to get a job and then when it comes time for the move they don't show up. They left us high and dry and apparently they have done this to a lot of other people as well. I am very surprised that this company is still in business.

Very friendly, courteous and efficient crew, from Adam who gave us our quote to the crew who completed the move. Costs came in under the quote which was great. They loaned us boxes which was a life saver! We had a LOT of stuff and they made it work. We're glad we chose Dowells.

Mine was a complicated move with some items going to Kelowna and some going in Dowell’s storage for an upcoming move (in a shipping container) to Costa Rica. Everything was expertly packed and it felt comfortable for the movers to be in my home.

They do not seem interested in getting new business. I went into their website to request a quote but didn't get a reply. Then I called them and left a message to return my call. Heard nothing. Called again, finally spoke with someone, who after taking my information said he would send me an estimate via email. Didn't hear from them. I called one more time and left another message. Have never heard from them by email or phone. No way to conduct business.

Prompt, friendly service. The packers/movers were polite, helpful and focused. When they returned my things they were most helpful. I did my own unpacking. A bit slow picking up the empty cartons! I used this revive to pack, store and return the contents of my craft/quilt room. Everything was packed securely. I would use this firm for local moves in the future.
