Tyler & Cuyler from Take a Load Off Moving moved all our heavy/awkward items for us. They were quick, polite and overall just good at the job. It took them 2 minutes to move a couch out of our unit compared to the 30 min it took us to get it in! Tyler even took the door off a bedroom to fit our desk inside then attached it again. I contracted Take a load off moving to move my house items into storage on Apr 20. ( that day they didn't show up and had excuse the drivers car wouldn't start)Then again from storage to new residence on May 03 2018. During these moves I have 2 damaged beds, a box spring, cracked tv, and damage to wall. I have called and left over 20 messages to Brandon. The company has various excuses on why he cant call and after 2 months I am still have had no resolution. Sent pictures as requested 2x and no response through e-mail Customer service is non existent!

It was a difficult move with some very heavy shop equipment under awkward conditions. Despite this they managed to move everything smoothly and efficiently. Their estimate wasn't the lowest but it was the most realistic and they did manage to keep the price under that. They were careful with how they handled everything - even the things that weren't fragile. I suffer from anxiety disorder and they managed not to trigger me, which kind of says it all. I was very impressed with them and can recommend them without hesitation. They will certainly be the first people I call for my next move. Thanks for the awesome and stress free job guys, you earned your stars and then some!

Our renters hired this company July 2019. The movers scratched the cork floor when they dragged the corners of two box springs across it and out the door. We were here when it happened. The movers denied they dragged anything and blatantly lied about it. After many phone calls, messages, etc. the company does not return calls and refuses to meet to see the damage. Don't hire this company, they don't live up to their statement of customer service. Take your money elsewhere. This is an update to my previous one star review..... Almost three weeks after the fact, this company came through for us. They admitted the damage was their fault and compensated us. If they had resolved the matter in a timely manner, I would have given them a 5 star for the way it was handled.

3 out of 10. The guys doing the heavy work are super awesome, friendly, and easy to work with. But the business itself doesn't have a lot of communication going on. It's confusing as hell which is the last thing you want when you're moving. Brandon, I understand that you're going to say whatever you need because people reading this don't know how things went down but come on. You expected that I was going to cover the expense of your employee not showing up. And as I said then, I say now: that's not my problem. If you had raised it with me, I might have been sympathetic. You still haven't sent me the refund you promised me months ago.

Have had three moving companies in last two years and this was the best. Nakul and Chase were fast and proficient. Jason came to assess what truck we would need and gave us shipping labels that were very helpful . They replied immediately when we had questions and were overall very professional. Was very close to original estimate and made the move much easier and less stressful. Were careful not to mark up floors by using runners and booties and were only company to commit to times for pick up and delivery. Hope you had safe trip home was a long 700km move. Picked up in Shawnigan Lake for a move to Chemainus. Conscientious about not leaving muddy tracks anywhere. Let my kids ‘help’....two other workers (one the boss) came to unload a large storage bin we also had moved. Full day. No complaining, swearing, friendly the whole time, wanted to know where things should go and asked all day. Really couldn’t be happier with how the move went of a full family sized home. On top of this, I heard complaints about how they get yelled at for sleeping on the ferry while on route to mainland jobs! How inconsiderate! 0/10 would never suggest this company to anyone.

A while later wanted to reschedule 3 days later - and this is a week before Christmas - not impressed at all. No report at pick up time that there were issues, waited until I called them. A three-day delay is simply not an option. Will not recommend this company.

It's one of the very few times that a high rated company in Google reviews did not live up to the expectations. Pros: Organized with detailed T&Cs The movers were very careful with our belongings Cons: We provided all the details we were asked to make the quote as accurate as possible and we were quoted 4 hours of work. The move took 8.5 hours to be completed and the manager Karen couldn't care less that we would pay double of what we expected when we called to complain. All the moving companies are obviously busy in Nanaimo, that doesn't mean the service has to be poor. Karen kept repeating that the estimates are just that, estimates. And I totally understand if it took 0.5, 1 or even 1.5 hours more because I've done enough moves to know that it's rare for everything to go smoothly during a move. But 4.5 hours more is unacceptable and the customer service was non existent. I'm sure that if the phone from new customers stops ringing for a while, you'll start treating your clients better. UPDATE: Regarding the response in my review, I provided the company with the exact weight of all the items, and the exact description of all the heavy items as requested. The description was given over the phone, not through email as they suggest.The fact that they are calling me a liar, only proves my point above about non existent customer service. To defend myself from irresponsible business practices, I've attached a photo here that shows the truck being a little over half-full at the end of the move, exactly as we expected with 2.6 tons of stuff. Finally, I asked for the 5 ton truck in the first place, just to be safe. The fact that they were planning on sending a 3 ton truck, shows the lack of proper documentation on their part.

No COVID safety precautions in a lockdown. I called them in late August to get a competitive estimate for our move to Calgary. We had finally arranged a day which ended up being a no show nor a call from them to say that they weren’t coming. I called and texted several times with no response. The office replied the next business day with an apology stating sickness as a reason. It was painful to get a solid commitment from them to do the estimate. Finally Sept 12 we get someone here to do it. He arrived not wearing a mask and was in his finest “gansta” garb. If you go to a residence then you should at least try to look professional. Indeed this was the same gentleman that stood us up the first time. He defended the situation by stating no one informed him and that he was busy. A different story than from the admin sating he was sick. Credibility? When asked why he wasn’t wearing a mask was he was non responsive, I pressed again and he said he didn’t believe in wearing masks. I told him I would give him one, as he didn’t even have one, to which he agreed to wear it. No mask no estimate. Wow just wow! After all that he sends us the highest estimate amongst 4 including 2 nationwide companies providing detailed packing/inventory lists. I can’t honestly say that I would consider going with them or even recommending getting an estimate. Having moved 6 times nationally this was the most painful just in getting an estimate. Buyer beware

Carl and Jesse arrived at the exact time promised and worked very quickly, safely and were a pleasure to deal with. The crew was covid safe as they were moving Dad into a retirement community. The move came in under the estimate and everything was well secured in the truck with no damage to anything. They were very patient when my three kids got in the was from time to time. They were able to move us all in one day when we were booked for two. The best part is that I have not found any damage to by belongings/furniture or the walls at my new home or the old one. This is the first time this has ever happened!! I had booked a move with them 2 weeks ago for Saturday July 17th arriving between 4-5pm. I tried calling them at 5:10pm because no one has arrived yet that's when I got a call back from one of the movers telling me they were not going to be making it today to move me. Very unprofessional to leave me stranded last minute with no movers. The guy on the phone was very unapologetic and just made excuses as to why they didn't show up. Would not recommend such a horribly ran company. And a huge shoutout to 2 Burley Men who were very happy and quick to get me in for tomorrow morning or else I don't know what I would have done.

The point of the contacting a moving company was to move our piano and boxes. I provided photos and details of the piano; where it is in the house, how to get it out, the slope of the driveway etc. The customer service rep advised we would need a 4th person to accomplish the move of the piano. He adjusted the quote and I let him know that was fine and agreed to the terms. I also told him we had a couple beds, some other furniture and a lot of boxes as we were moving out of a 5 bedroom 3 bath house. Again, based on that information, the terms of time needed to complete the move were laid out in the estimate. Come moving day. Your crew arrives...with 3 movers, not 4. When I asked about moving the piano, I was told it could not be done with only 3 people. They explained they would need to call the boss, the 4th guy had a funeral...pretty much made every excuse possible not to touch the piano. While this was taking place, nothing was going onto the truck. The crew spent a good half hour standing around. After getting fed up, I along with two friends..so keep in mind that is 3 people, moved the piano up to the driveway as your crew stood around on their phones and watching, but I will touch on that more later. The 4th member of the crew showed up out of the blue. I have no idea, when he was contacted. Your crew did take the piano and get it on a cart and into the truck, and got it down and into the garage at our new place. They also refunded the heavy moving fee. As far as the other items, after the initial walkthrough , there was a lot of complaining about how much there was to move, how they were not told it wouldn't be this much, how this was going to be a 7 to 8 hour move, etc. We were told our 3 hour move was 2 and half hours of driving, leaving 30 minutes to move our things...including a piano. The big items made it onto the truck, but many of the boxes and other items did not. In the end, I would say about half the house was moved. We had to scramble to get the rest moved with the help of friends. As I stated above, there was a lot of time wasted by your crew. My wife, stepdaughter and I witnessed your crew members, standing around, checking their phones, and vaping. One guy even stopped to have his lunch...all on my time. To say I am dissatisfied is an understatement. I expected so much more from professional movers; men who were ready, motivated, and eager to help out and get the job done. What we got was a crew of 3 (eventually 4) where there was much complaining about the work that needed to be done, and a lot of time standing around, vaping, eating, drinking, checking phones, etc. I do not feel I was given the level of service I expected and paid for. You charged me almost $1,000 to move about a quarter of my house. How much money will I get back for the half hour it took to get the piano out of the house while your crew took a break from loading anything. I expected to fill the truck you provided. When your crew just stopped, it was a quarter full. I am sorry to say I will not be using your company in the future, and I will not recommend your company to anyone. We have also advised our realtor of our experience and she too will not be recommending your company to any future clients.

Although the estimate took about a day to receive during Christmas holidays it was a pretty quick response time but we wished to receive it abit faster as we were on a tight schedule, we ended up hiring this company on boxing day they had came showed up on time and did a fantastic job we will refer this company to anyone they were nothing but professional. will use them as our go to moving company from now on

These guys work hard..are polite..and protect your belongings to the extreme..a great value too. Thanks guys for making a tough move easy!! Okay!
