Overall very happy with BSB. Good value and I loved having a month to slowly pack and move out stuff into the box. My only reservation (not BSB's fault) was that the box was dropped off on a gravel driveway on an angle. Not a problem for loading but when it was time to move to the new house it took a lot of time / effort for the truck to hoist it up. I would recommend it but ensure the box is set down level or on blocks!

Having to move by the end of November, and a house in midst of major renos, we decided that we needed to rent a storage container to store furniture and possessions until our home is ready for occupancy. After contacting Penticton Big Steel Box we were amazed that they were able to deliver the shipping container the very next day! What a life saver! Rented a 20' BigSteelBox for 3 months. Arranging the delivery and pickup was a pleasant and simple process over email and phone. I had concerns with clearance, but they referenced Google maps to confirm. The container arrived in pristine condition and kept the contents safe from everything, including this torrential downpour. Driver for delivery was a pro! He was able to navigate it into a tight spot in just minutes. Rates were better than what I had found when researching options in the Vancouver area.

My family just moved here and we used BSB to unload all our things into 3 storage containers as we awaited the possession date on our home. I couldn't be happier with the friendly service at BSB! Right from the call centre there is always a friendly person taking calls. Its a first name operation here in PG, or maybe just because we were so much work ????, but it was nice to have. Lianne runs the depot and is really friendly and looks to help asap whenever she can. Joe went out of his way a number of times to see we had our boxes picked up or delivered earlier than expected whenever possible. Something to be aware of that I guess is obvious but I hadn't thought of, your bins will not always be on the ground like conventional storage, so you can't go into them whenever you like, you need to arrange them being brought down (though the help is there asap) also this means your things within the bin will shift from all the ups and downs. Just plan for that when your self storing. While I hope I don't need storage again, if I ever do, I know where to go. Thanks team BSB! P.S read their business' mission statement I think it's one of the best out there and their employees seem to embody it.

Simple and easy. The box got unloaded on time, we packed it up and a couple weeks later they picked it up. We requested our pick up time to be changed to later in the day which was no problem as we were running behind. The box made it across canada in about two weeks which was much quicker than expected. We could not ask for more for what we wanted to do. BigSteelBox dropped the container off when stated. The container was exceptionally clean. We were amazed at how much of our home we were able to fit into the 20 foot container. It was fairly easy for my wife and I to load it to the roof. Tie downs were available to secure at regular intervals along the container wall. The container was able to be stored at their yard until we were able to take possession of our home. Container was then dropped off close to the front of the home and was picked up again shortly after we had it empty. We are very happy with using BigSteelBox! Would recommend them without question. I used them as temporary storage as I was homeless for 4 months, I found a place and called over a month ago to give them enough notice that I was taking my stuff for the 1st of march, I wanted to make sure my account wasn't billed, and I recieved a invoice of 0.00 in my email confirming I wouldn't be paying for March 1st as my storage container was getting emptied that day. I got billed anyways the 180.36 and I have rent, damage deposit, pet deposit and moving expenses, I wasn't planning on paying for March due to the 0.00 invoice so this has screwed my budget up, I'm not impressed by the service. I wouldn't be recommending them.

I used BigSteelBox to move from BC to AB. They arrived on time and the drop off drivers were amazingly accurate with where to put the box. If there is enough room for the box, plus a foot on each side and bit of a run up zone (20 ft) the box will fix easily. They moved the box from BC to AB in about 8 business days and immediately called me to drop it off once it arrived at the destination yard. Overall it was a great experience.

This is my first time moving across provinces, it's hard to review a service type I've only used once. Pricing was a bit expensive but they seemed more professional than the other options. I did experience some issues with the delivery and billing. The issues were resolved, in a timely manner, after some additional correspondence with their customer service. Overall, I'm happy with the service. All the staff were friendly and helpful, from the customer service representatives to the truck drivers. Note: Their boxes are measured generously from the outside, so there is significant loss factor when it comes to usable space. Keep that in mind when selecting a size. It would be nice if they also showed the inner dimensions (usable space) prominently on their site.

We just underwent a major renovation of our home and had to move out while this happened! Under short notice, they delivered 3 C-cans so the movers and packers we hired could get us moved out! We just finally moved back into our home and once again, they delivered all 3 c-cans to Meridian Beach so our movers could unload everything in one day! With us being this far out, it was really great that they could accommodate us as it meant they had to do 3 separate trips here and back! I highly recommend this company for your storage and moving needs!

Distant Vision

Been renting off them for months now, and the service is alright. Employees are very helpful. They tip the bins sideways, so make sure to store stuff safe from falling over. When loaded on a truck everything tips back, but in the yard they use a big fork lift. Everything needs to be safe to be tipped in every direction. Your bin will be stacked up with others, and there usually isn't enough room to access the door when in the stack. Need to request it to be lowered down 24hr in advance. Makes it pretty secure when they are in the stack.

Excellent experience with BSB - had to request the box sooner than planned and Hailey was able to make it work for us. Great value and service, and easy to use - we stored an entire workshop in our 20' box while we were unpacking after a move and having the garage re-done. Communication was excellent when calling in and with the drivers. No fuss drop-off and pick up too - the bin was placed exactly where we wanted it and wood was put down to protect our driveway. We will definitely use them again!

I first got in touch with a team member at Moving Box in October 2020, after passing by their storage facility in our neighborhood and getting their contact information on line. I had questions I needed information on including the following: - Any bugs in the containers? - Risk of rodents or other animals entering the container since they were stored outside? - Interior temperature control with the seasons especially winter and summer? - Risk of deterioration of quality of stored items with the changing interior environments? The team member on the phone answered all the above questions and indicated that the boxes are checked for bugs, that the boxes had openings for aeration and interior environment control but they were well sealed to prevent small animals from entering the box and the stored items did not deteriorate in their quality. I decided to rent the box of suitable size to meet the needs of storage of items needed to reduce contents in the house to be put on sale. All the transactions for renting of the box were subsequently done on-line. The box was rented in October 2020 and we just had the box returned June 18, 2021 after 8 months of storage and I had trepidation opening it to see if the contents were going to be usable or deteriorated and to our surprise everything was in excellent condition similar to how they were at the time of storage including our nice furniture and important documents and cushions. I would have no difficulty renting the box again in the future if needed storage. I would recommend renting the Moving box to anyone requiring short or long-term storage.

Helpful staff, clean, well-kept storage. We were surprised by how well insulated the containers were. Even on a hot day, our container was a comfortable temperature so we weren't concerned about heat affecting any of our contents. Handy option, especially for people in-between moving houses.

We moved in August from Winnipeg to London, Ontario. We were very stressed about the logistics of moving all of our things cross-country. We looked at many moving companies but felt great anxiety over the dismal reviews, inability for a specific pick-up schedule, and the price. Doing some looking into shipping containers for moving I called several places for quotes. PODs provided a low quote on their website, and then when I talked with a rep they wouldn't honour their quote, and the new quote that they provided (through a subsidiary) was almost double what the other one was. From the moment I contacted BigSteelBox I felt confident that our possessions were being handled by a team of caring professionals. EVERY point of contact were patient, knowledgeable, and polite. I truly felt like they were on our team. We were able to schedule our pick-up and delivery and they arrived AHEAD OF SCHEDULE! The quoted price was exactly what we paid. I just can’t remember if I had posted a review earlier. However I just wanted to make sure. I was dealing with the staff from your Lethbridge AB site. I had first talked with Cody, he was so great and once I explained my needs he directed me to order the correct size of sea can. He then had Tyler contact me to talk about pricing. Super nice guy to talk with and helped walk me thru signing the contract on line. I could not get over the care that Cody took just in the delivery of the sea can. He was so careful to look over the driveway and once placing the can he was careful not to leave ANY marks on the driveway. So refreshing. Tyler once again walked me thru the extension of my contract with Big Steel Box. Super super helpful man. When it came time to finally delivery my belongings Cody once again was so careful to not damage my driveway. If I was to ever have to move again I would use Big Steel Box. If you are moving, look into there service as you can’t go wrong. Great company to deal with and Great staff to deal with. They are great, this office in Winnipeg took care of our move from Winnipeg MB to Hope BC. We did not have an address to move into when we had to be check out of our home so we chose Big Steel Box to handle our move because it was inexpensive to hold our belongings in Storage until we were ready to unload it into our home. They are friendly and very helpful. One thing to note, when we called and asked about how a piano would stand up to being transported by them they did not really know because no one has given feedback on hauling pianos with them. We had 2 pianos in our Big Steel Box and they travelled very well. Nothing in our box received any damages from being transported halfway across the country. I recommend Big Steel Box to anyone who are looking at moving household belongings. It is convenient, the honour their estimates, they will do what it takes to keep their customers satisfied.

Very rarely have I encountered a company that does things exactly as you need and everything right the first time. This is based on a one (but glorious) experience working with them. From the sales intake to the ongoing sales support to the companies that pick up and deliver the container - all were responsive, friendly, thoughtful, flexible, timely and proactive. I was hesitant at the price at first because you pack your own furniture (do this carefully and thoughtful so to avoid things rattling and being squished as they load the box onto their trucks) but they are worth their value. When you’re moving cross country, you need a company that’s flexible enough to anticipate all the things you may not yet plan for on the receiving end. We just finished up my move this past weekend. We had the same driver who was extremely talented at getting our 20' container in place at our old house which had an uneven surface. The drop off at our new house which had a nice asphalt driveway and was softly touched down and then picked up after being in place for 5 weeks not a single mark or dent on the driveway. This month we've had some heavy rain, strong winds, snow and freezing temperatures and during the 5 weeks our contents sat in the container we had no moisture or condensation, no insects, and no mice even being in a rural location. The price Joan quoted us was really great compared to some of the others and when we needed the container for an extra month it was a quick phone call and a low monthly rate. The YouTube videos were extremely helpful for us to pack up our belonging. I would highly recommend the moving box for anyone looking to move from one place to another or store belonging for renovations.

BigSteelBox is a great alternative to traditional movers that must be seriously disrupting the traditional moving industry. Packing, loading and unloading yourself is the big difference but, by taking on that extra work yourself, you get the all time you need at each end (not feeling rushed), and much more affordable rates. We moved from Alberta to Ottawa and had our belongings stored for several months while we looked for and purchased a new home. (It didn't have to be unloaded from the mover's truck in between so was much less expensive). Friendly people, great customer service mentality, spotlessly clean containers, half the price for the move and 80% less expensive storage! We've moved many times cross-country and internationally and wish we'd had BigSteelBox available for all of those earlier moves.

I was searching for quotes on different moving and storage scenarios after filling out online for some time invested on it. All I received was an email advising to see attached "detailed" quote. There was no detail whatsoever and if I recall I was seeking and noted I was seeking more than what I could input. Without any phone call to follow up on what I was seeking I received an email advising me to see my "detailed quote" all I saw was the opposite of one with only a quote for over $5,500.00. Get your quote process together. No justification for such a quote based on what I was trying to ask for and based on talks with past user of your service. Zero follow up on understanding my needs and so far no follow up on unrealistic quote. Email only for a local company? My trust has been lost with your lack of follow up from start to finish. Very robotic email response that shows lack of caring or understanding needs with no justification in emailed template quotes. It took me more time and care to fill out info for quote online than it took for generic email quote.

My only concern with the short term one month rental I required was the high cost of the third party transport to deliver and remove the product. A 15 kilometer move with a tow truck for $350.00 each way seemed excessive. I may be out of touch with current tow truck rates but I will strongly consider other short term storage options in the future. Perhaps allowing customers to provide their own transportation would make these transport costs more competitive.

When we got to our new place 5 years back we had one of the drivers name Allan and he was very careful on what he did and a friendly guy and has a great attitude and alway very very respectful. You will not see that at any other place. Ran into him today and same person all smiles and very happy. Way to go keep it up as the company need more guys like him. he is a keeper. Had a bin dropped off for a live load which is 2.5 hrs then they take it away. Well the movers from an other company I hired to come and were told of what the job was came and said they don't do that kind of job. My father who is 76 was left alone to do the work and he asked one of the movers to stay back and help and he did. After an hour I advised our driver Adam of what happened and he went to the home and helped my father load the rest of the bin. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for all their help. Sales staff at a remote location were fine. Local staff at Dorchester get a well earned zero. Had everything priced out and good to go to have a box dropped off, loaded, picked up and shipped. Started basing all my plans on those written commitments. When it came time to get the box delivered, they claimed they could not due to a few issues. It was obvious by their issues that they were looking only at badly outdated Google Maps photos, which were no longer anywhere close to reality. Tried to explain that to their customer service rep and she just wouldn't let me get in a word with a jackhammer. Just manic chatter... non stop. I instead tried to get my points in via an email and indirectly via their sales staff. So this lady calls me again and I explain that I'm at a grocery store checkout and can she call me back in 5 minutes. No she said ... no point in calling back. They won't deliver a box and she had no intention of listening to anything I had to say. I was going to tell her that I had also found someone to sell me a box and deliver it loaded to the Dorchester yard, if they were insistent on not fulfilling their commitments of renting me one, but never did get the opportunity to ask. She hung up on me. I did finally get a call from Sales and told him of my fallback plan and he said that would be fine. I then told him that I would not give them my business as I found their staff to be unreasonably rude and impossible to communicate with. If you want to have your time wasted, commitments violated, get lied to , and have no opportunity to be heard ... go nuts. I gave this business to their competition.

Tried to book our box drop off date months ahead and was told it was too far ahead and I should wait until 3-4 weeks before drop off. Called in a month ahead and was told that the dates I needed to have the box dropped off were already filled. We were forced to have box dropped off almost a week early. Arranging pickup, storage, drop-off at new location and final box pickup was now a longer date and outside the 1 month storage limit. I was told I would only be charged the one month because of the original drop-off date was early and the dates were so close to a month (I think 4 or 5 days over and this was part of the reason I chose to go with this company over others). Transport, storage and drop off went smoothy (except for trucks showing up early and late on both pickup and delivery) but a few days before box was picked up I was charged for another month of storage. I contacted a rep for the second time in regard to this and I was told they would speak to their manager in regard. No call was every received again from their office so we're now on the hook for $200+ more and Big Steel Box doesn't seem to care that they lied on their original quote and just took this extra money. Service reps were all polite but did little to remedy this. With everything going on trying to move our family during a pandemic fighting with the movers over this amount just wasn't possible and we just had to chose to lose this money due to more important obligations.

I did not have to pack and unpack twice. Daniel simply dropped off the box for us to pack it and then store the container with our furniture until we could unpack it at the next house. The box allowed us to store stuff well we prepped the house for sale. It gave us room to store things that would be moved but needed to be gone for staging. We had a great experience from start to finish. My mom moved from the lower mainland to the Okanagan. Every phone call was professional. Drivers were courteous on both ends, from pick up to drop off. We put our household belongings into storage with Big Steel Box in September 2016. Trouble-free delivery and pick up of the box exactly as had been arranged. We were between moves for a year and a half and we found the secure storage at BSB was excellent. We accessed our box several times to move stuff in and out without any hassle or additional charges. For our move across the country, after checking out our options, we contacted BigSteelBox and were fortunate enough to have Emma walk us through everything that was going to happen once we placed our order for our 20ft. container. She was so amazing to deal with: she answered all our questions, ensured we were always informed as to what was happening with the drop off, pickup and delivery of our container. The drop off at our previous home was on time and the container was placed exactly where we needed it to be on our driveway and the pickup was also on time and expertly handled. Emma called us again when our container was to be shipped out and when it arrived at it's destination, we got an email confirming it's arrival at their yard. We then hooked up with Adam to arrange for delivery of the container to our new home and he was also extremely helpful in setting this up for us. Bradley delivered the container and we were impressed as to how well he placed the container (taking into consideration where we had to unload our stuff to) in our driveway. On the day of the pickup (also set up by Emma), Bradley called ahead, gave us a time when he'd arrive (and he was right on time) and off the container went. We cannot say enough how impressed we have been with the staff at BigSteelBox from the start to the finish. When you're considering moving across the country with your house contents etc., it's a big deal but we knew that BigSteelBox was the right choice and they did an awesome job for us.

My ex had a storage container on my property & left it when he moved out. I called them to have it picked up. They woman informed that it couldn't be moved until they spoke with him & she would have the owner call me. I went to work & come home to the storage container gone and all the garbage my ex left all over my lawn and the churches lawn next to my home. They never called me to inform me they where coming. If I would have been there I would have emptied it for them! So on top of a long shift at work & being a single mom, I had to come home and clean the yards at 9:30 at night! Thanks Moving Box!

The communication in Kelowna was great and so were the drivers! We were kept advised of our bins locations etc during the shipping time. The communication from their site in Regina (Jeff) was fantastic! Their driver who delivered our bins was great to work with, prompt ,courteous, friendly! We moved from the interior to the island in December. Box came when they said it would and was picked on schedule. There was some confusion about the delivery of our Box to our new home due to the flooding in the Fraser Valley, but they came through and delivered a day later than planned. Hat’s off to everyone at Big steel box for delivering our belongings in such unusual circumstances. We were able to enjoy our first Christmas in our new home with all the comforts we were used to.

Storage unit infested with mice!! My belongings were chewed up and saturated in mice urine and feces. 80% of my possessions had to be transported directly to the dump. I lost mattresses, carpets, all of my bedding and clothing, and all fabric furniture had to be discarded. All of my books were shredded and there were nests in the boxes and dresser drawers. Kitchen ware was rendered unsanitary. Home decor was stained with urine. This was a very sad and inconvenient and costly situation for me. Very disappointed that the facilities where my moving box was being held was not well maintained.
