REVIEWS OF Canadian National Van Lines Inc. IN Batoche

It was hard for me to choose a moving company at first. Canadian National was recommended to us through a friend that did a move with them in July and was also very happy. We had our items picked up in Vancouver and the stuff went to storage for a few months. Once we were ready we had to contact the local dispatch and had the items scheduled for delivery. We didn’t have to wait long for out items once we were ready to accept them. Abigail and Hanna were the 2 main people that I deal with. The crew was amazing in BC – Joe and Sonny were amazing and so welcome. At the delivery time the crew was large (3-4 guys) and it went very quickly. They were in an out. They did end up forgetting one table base but I spoke to the delivery driver and he promised to follow up. He called me first thing next morning and it was dropped off the next afternoon. He even set it up for me for no extra charge for forgetting it the day before. The quote was very reasonable and we paid very close to the original quote + taxes which I was very impressed with. I am definitely recommending them to anyone. We have now have 2 family members who were happy with the service.

We hired Canadian National Van Lines to move us from Ontario to Alberta at the end of June, 2018. When our items arrived on our unloading date in August, 2018, all furniture, without exception, suffered damage. Pieces were broken off of chairs, buffets, bookcases scraped and hacked, with whole pieces of wood missing. One of our bicycles was so damaged it's not able to be ridden. There was also damage to items packed in sturdy plastic totes. A couple of the totes were completed busted. More than half our breakables were broken and had to be thrown out. Besides the damage, we are missing multiple boxes as well as a mattress and railing for our bed. We also had items show up in the boxes in our move that weren't ours. We took pictures of the items and sent them to Canadian Van Lines who has not even responded, giving us a clue as to how much effort they are making to find our thousands of dollars worth of belongings still missing, now for 6 months and counting. Buyer beware! Do not hire this business under any circumstance. We paid thousands of dollars for this move and they damaged and lost irreplaceable treasured belongings, all of which we paid for them to move with care.

Not impressed with this company at all. Gave me two different quotes and came in way over price. Probably due to the fact of over packaging my things that were already packed. I was called the day before the delivery and said my furniture would arrive the following day between the hours of 3-6 and would be closer to 3 p.m. but that I would be receiving a phone call an hour before the delivery. I canceled an appointment so I would be at home when the truck arrived. At 5:45 I called the company because I had not received a call. I was told that they were running behind me wouldn’t be there until 8 p.m. At 10 p.m. I tried calling the company to see what was going on but they were closed. Just after 10 I got a phone call telling me that my furniture wouldn’t arrive until the next morning between 8-9 forcing me to cancel yet another appointment. I paid in cash and the bank had given me an older paper $100 bill and the driver didn’t recognize it as Canadian currency and wanted me to replace it, which of course I didn’t have. He finally accepted it when the other driver told him it was legal tender. I sent an email voicing my displeasure and was told these things happen and they understand that I was excited about getting my belongings. No actually I was upset about having to cancel two appointments, pay more money than I had budgeted for and sat around wasting a whole afternoon and evening when they didn’t have the courtesy to give me a call. Horrible customer service. I have friends moving and I said “whatever you do, DO NOT hire Canadian National Van Lines”

-----January 2018-------- Follow-up to previous post: received our claim back (10 weeks later, after I followed up), they're "willing to offer us" $55 to assist with the THOUSANDS of dollars worth of damage their movers did. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! If you're going to use them- because you have no other choice- make sure you pay the outrageous additional fees to insure you can get some money back when all your stuff is damaged (more than $0.60/lb). If something is worth $1000 but only weighs 5 lbs, they'll maybe pay you $3.00. ---------- October 2017---------- Every single piece of furniture wrapped by their movers is damaged. Consolidation company so they'll deliver your stuff when it's convenient for them to journey to your area, could wait multiple weeks to have your stuff just sitting in a warehouse not far from you - which they'll charge you for until you tell them otherwise.

Many hidden fees. Terrible service. Several broken items upon delivery and all my boxes were completely destroyed. Never use this company

We recently used the CANADIAN NATIONAL VAN LINES for moving to Ontario. Prior to actually finalizing the deal, everything went smooth. We determined the pick up date and movers came early. We showed what needed to be loaded. We've packed a lot of boxes, but we're not completely finished packing. Movers started to put stuff into empty boxes to get everything loaded. They were rushing and not paying attention. I've advised to take it easy on certain items and they were good for a small period of time. Movers had many blankets to wrap around TVs and other items. However, when moving furniture the floor (Laminate) got scratched and the entrance door dented, they didn't seem to care about it. Prior to booking, we were informed that it would take 7-12 days from the pick up date, so we booked the flight closer to the promised date, however, it took 3 weeks for items to arrive. We tried to get our items sooner and they accommodated us for the whole one-day, so we (single mom with 2 children and 1 baby) lived without our items (especially baby stuff) for some time. At 5 pm (1 hour before their office closing time), we get a call saying we have to pay (eTranfer, cash or bank draft) the full amount in order to get our items unloaded the next day. We tried, but weren't able to e-Transfer the whole amount due to its daily allowable limitations. We tried to do a second e-Transfer the following day, but it didn't go as banks allow a certain limit to be transferred within 24hrs. We did not know this. I believe it depends on a bank account type. Anyways, the movers came the next day a requested for the outstanding amount to be paid and to sign that all boxes are in good condition prior to unloading. We were advised, if movers wait more than 15 min, they would charge a waiting fee and that the rest to be paid immediately. When finished unloading, the furniture was damaged, somehow the couch got a sharpie markings on it (was wrapped in plastic by movers when picked up), a big aquarium was broken (glass shattered, the box had big letters on it glass, fragile), some dishes were shattered, boxes looked like they were thrown around and had holes in them. We picked up brand new boxes and some used boxes, but made sure there were no holes in them prior to packing. 2 glass doors of our wardrobe went missing. The office chair wheels were missing. One box (number 78) was missing. To this date we still haven't seen the invoice from this company. We weren't expecting this type of service from a "Supposedly well establish company".

I had a very bad experience with them. First off there are a lot of hidden fees that they don't mention at all on their website. They charge you by the number of boxes you have as opposed to the total weight you have. So, if in your quote you say you will have 10 boxes then they assume that these 10 boxes will have a weight of an assumed amount and charge you based on that weight even if you don't have that much weight. They count the number of steps from where they park the truck to your apartment. If it's more then they will charge you more (or you pay "tips" to the people who come to pick up your boxes in which case they don't report it). They guarantee that your boxes will be kept safe and your belongings will come in one piece. That's not correct. Some of my boxes were completely crumpled (and some of them were open) because they stack those boxes when they move even though they charge you for the space that each box would take in their van. If there was a star below 1 I would have selected that. Because in my opinion they don't even deserve a 1 star. Even though their service in terms of moving is terrible but their customer service representatives were really good. They were very responsive and offered to pay for the damages caused to my property. Overall, I would not recommed.

Miran McDaniel

You guys completely screwed over my friend so if we ever move or anyone I know are moving I will be telling them to avoid you guys for sure. You guys are such a thieves!

Christiane Whitehouse

*Do not trust the quote or personnel on the phone regarding price.* I used Canadian National Van Lines to move across provinces and ended up paying hundreds of dollars in hidden fees (almost $500 more than my quote) that I was not told about prior to receiving my bill. They refused to reverse any of the charges. They also lost one of my boxes!

Delighted Dolphin

Very happy with the service I received in Montreal and Toronto. The movers took care not to damage the furniture and all the boxes were handled with care. The transfers to and fro from the truck were done extremely fast. It was also very easy for me to communicate via email with the sales representative. I received prompt and transparent replies to all of my queries. I also recommend the storage service. Thanks for the smooth move!

Perpetua’s World

they destroyed my dining table that its value more than $1000 , a dresser and a bed and after 12 weeks waiting until the claim department replied they decided to refund my $31 for all of the items they not professional at all the men who carry the items deal with items so hard and the claim center so rude **************Do not deal with them at all even it is free*************

I recently did a move with Canadian National VL from Truro, NS to Toronto, ON and I have to say, it was the best move I have done in the multiple times I have moved being in the military. Staff at the office and the movers we very professional and respectable and gave me more information than I asked for to make sure it went smooth. I had a few concerns but they re-assured me and made me feel comfortable. I took my time getting across the country and they said about 20 days to get there. My household arrived before I did and they stored my stuff until I got there 5 days later. Fast was an understatement. The price was right and didn’t go through the roof even when I added a lot more to stuff than I mentioned. 3 of my military friends already moved with them and are still recommending their services.

I liked the initial contact person at Canadian National Van Lines as well as the price per pound and the services offered. The coordinator (Courtney) sounded very knowledgeable and he answered all my questions without complaint. I was moving from Regina to Vancouver and the set up was good. Adjusting the box count and furniture list was easy. Also, the quote was spot-on. The crew that unloaded me here was fast and courteous. They were fantastic and did anything and everything I said because I always know exactly where I want everything, and that went smoothly. We didn’t have any major damages. A few plates from the boxes were damaged and my big chef’s knife punctured one of the boxes and created some damage to another box (I guess a bit my fault – I should have left the damn thing behind). But asides from this no big or major complaints. I wasn’t surprised at the final destination with extra fees and the fees that we discussed with Courtney were the same at delivery. Great thanks to Courtney as she was always there for me from start to finish.

So basically you took the 500$ deposit from my credit card and I have never heard from you again? My emails get sent back to me. According to a lot of people I spoke to this is fraud. You have given me nono dat no specific instructions just took my money and disappeared! No one will answer a email and then send them back to me.as undeliverable? What's going on!!!!!!!! I saved and save to be able toto afford this move!! You don't just take.money for a service and.not give that service!!!! It's illeagl! A scam! And fraud! I want my deposit back or I want some answers!

Christine Poirier

This is what $3800 gets you.... Worst experience ever! Just made a claim to the BBB! Extra charges, broken damaged and missing items. Late delivery dates. No response from company after claim form was completed. After all these reviews they're still in business I wish I would have know I put my belongings in the hands of this company.

Angela Wagner

Extremely unprofessional, careless handling of furniture/dinnerware, broke valuable items that they packed, refused to repair/replace items they broke, not compliant with Covid masking and social distancing in our home, tried to charge my cc $250 more than agreed upon. ARROGANT claims department manager was UNAPOLOGETIC AND UNWILLING TO RECTIFY THE DAMAGES THEY DID to my belongings.

Jeffrey Annandale

Absolutely the worst moving company going. They say they charge per pound yet they don't weigh your items or provide you proof. They then over charge you. But it gets worse, when they arrive at your destination they make up more fictitional charges. And will not off load your items until you pay them more money. But they are not holding your stuff hostage, because if you don't pay the extra fake charges, you can always choose to have your items off loaded and left by the side of the highway. These people are criminals, stay far far away from thier services.

Brittany S

DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!!!! Seriously don't!! We've already reported them to the BBB. They are scammers!! They destroyed our stuff!! First off, they delivered our stuff a week later then promised, so we were living in a different province with none of our things for 10 days, but that's not even the worst of it. We couldn't keep any of our moving boxes because they were all CRUSHED. I opened a fragile box and it literally looked like they had shook it and stored it upside down. My crystal bowl was shattered and 3 cups broke as well. They chipped our very expensive night stand and dented the top of our just as expensive dresser. They broke our dining table and broke a picture frame in half. We've used movers before and have never had this many broken items. Seriously, do not use these guys. Next time we will be moving ourselves. SO DISAPPOINTED.

Hilda Brar

Just a quick note to say thank you for your excellent service, my items all arrived in Vancouver on time and in great condition. Still busy getting settled in, however I have already referred a friend of mine in Calgary to your company, he will be calling/emailing you to get a contact who can provide the same professional service that you guys did. Keep up the excellent work!

Oleg Skolovsky

I've used Canadian National Van Lines twice. Once to move from Toronto to Montreal and my most recent move from Montreal to Whitby and both times they provided a top notch service like I had not seen before in the moving industry (and I've moved quite a bit before). They are very careful with all your belongings and wrap everything with the utmost care. They are careful with hardwood floors or rugs. They cover the floor to avoid any damage. The estimates were pretty accurate both time and I actually ended up paying less than was originally quoted.

Michael LaDelfa

They lost over $3000 of our belongings, offering $30 as compensation. No one from this company is willing to explain anything to us about the issue, they avoid all contact. Also tacked on these ridiculous hidden charges at the beginning. When they arrived to our place they were giving us other peoples stuff! We told them to take it back. Stay as far away from this company as possible.

Travis Plant

I would just like to say a very big "thank you" for moving us from Toronto to Nanaimo this February. It's quite a daunting task finding a mover because for every one good story, you hear 20 bad ones. Everyone we dealt with at Canadian National van lines was friendly, courteous and professional. A special "thank you" to Courtney in Edmonton who helped at sales and Abigail in Dispatch and most of all everyone who helped him with the physical move. I will definitely recommend you any time.

Brianne Ford

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! I did a ton of research before choosing a moving company for my move from Edmonton to Vancouver. I was cost conscious as I did not have a ton of items and basically no furniture. To start with, there are tons of hidden costs they do not mention and everything is based on weight. I am going to list out all of the issues for you to see as it appears others have had the same issues. 1. The movers were late upon arrival which caused several timing issues for me 2. My items were moved, however it was communicated to me that my items would be going by train....and would get damaged. This was not mentioned in the initial quoting phase 3. They charged me extra for storage as I could not move due to COVID 4. They could not confirm an exact arrival time which makes it extremely difficult to book an elevator 5. My items arrived severely damaged, broken and dirty 6. THEY LOST 2 of my bins....which had all my brand name purses and sentimental items that are irreplaceable. 7. I submitted a claim for the missing items and have yet to hear anything back, I believe they just hope you will lose interest in the loss and will move on This company is AWFUL...please do not use them for your move. Canadian Van Lines, if you are reading this, please take care to improve your customer experience. Your reviews are horrendous and you simply cannot lose people's belongings. If you are thinking of using this company, please save yourself and go with one that is more reputable and pay the extra money.

Linda Watt

Canadian National Vanlines are absolutely terrible. The movers that picked my stuff up in Calgary were not professional, rude at times and made a terrible mess of my old place. They did not put runners down on the carpet so carried mud all through the house leaving the carpets filthy. They also damaged every piece of our new bedroom set, lost 3 boxes and my expensive stepladder, broke items in my boxes, chrystal vase, china gravy boat, etc. AND THEY ARE NOT GIVING ME ANYTHING MONEY BACK FOR LOST AND DAMAGED ITEMS. They are a terrible company and I will never recommend them to anyone.

Anja Avlijas

WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER. DO NOT TRUST THEM. They give you a quote and then THEY WARN YOU THAT THEY WANT TO OVERCHARGE YOU THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR MOVE. Last minute and absolutely horrible to talk to and deal with. I would give them 0stars if I could. Never deal with them. Never.

Nick Zacchia

This company lied to me, directly, many times and tried to over charge me by thousands of dollars. Buyer beware! Please read so you can avoid their dishonest business practices. I hired Canadian National Van Lines to move my belongings from Vancouver to Ottawa. The company tried to fraudulently overcharge me by roughly $2,400 (charging me over $6,000 on a move that should have cost less than $4,000). They did this through various lies and deceptive practices. It's clear that these lies are part of the company's regular business operations. As a separate matter, the company also damaged or destroyed many of my belongings, for which I am pursuing a resolution through civil litigation. The first way they tried to over charge me by roughly $2,050 was by claiming that my belonging weighed roughly %50 more than their initial estimate, 6,000 lbs instead of 4,000 lbs. They did not provide any evidence for this, but expected me to pay an extra $2,050 for the extra weight. The truck that showed up to pack my things was already half full of other people's belongings, so I was suspicious about how they weighed only my items. I asked for a weigh receipt indicating the weight of my belongings and confirmation that they had some way to separate the weight of my items from everyone else's. They changed their story on me several times, and after about 25 emails back and forth, they suddenly "realized" that my belongings actually came in under the estimated weight. Still, with no weigh receipt (which they are required to provide in most provinces). Clearly they had never weighed anything. The next dirty trick was an "error" in the sum total I owed. There were charges for packing, shipping, storage, a stair fee and taxes. Yet somehow, when all these items were added together, the total they listed was about $190 more than that actual, mathematical total of the # listed. I confronted them about this, and it still took several emails for them to list the correct addition. They kept just dismissing the fact that they were outright trying to deceive me. Finally, after all this, I became suspicious of every line in the bill, so on a hunch, I checked that they applied the correct tax rate. Of course they had over charged me on that too, by about $75. I asked them several times, what percentage rate they used for calculating the tax, and if they were using a different province's sales tax. They either refused to answer, or were as vague as possible. Finally, after many more emails back and forth, they corrected their "mistake". By this point, I had exchanged over 90 emails with the company, just to get them to charge me the honest amount we had agreed to. Of course, many of my items arrived damaged or destroyed. They caused several thousand dollars worth of damage to my stuff, through objectively negligent packing and handling. I made a claim for about $1,300. After ignoring me, or telling me I had never actually made a claim (actually) for 6 months, they offered me $50. I am currently pursuing them in civil court on this matter.

Mohamad Mojtahedi

The worst moving experience I had. I don't recommend this company service at all. Wrong weighting, waaaaay off from the reality and extra hidden charges. Damage boxes, broken items. Do whatever option you have but take the service from this company

Jessica Weisz

Never ever use use this company! Their pricing is a complete trick! They quote in pounds and then end up using a convoluted formula of labour and number of items. The price came out 3 times more than it should have been and they were not going to budge just one bit! Then the boxes all came upside down (how does that even happen!?) and many of them bent.

kaveen jayawardane

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They have lost my package well over 3000 dollars and only offered me 35 dollars in compensation for my loss! is that a joke! Ellie, the General operations manager finally after waiting almost 3 months going back and forth have finally processed my claim, that's ridiculous! Do not trust this company with your belongings, and not to mention all the hidden fees, they left all my boxes on the side walk, and I had to bring them inside myself, or pay 100 dollars for them to bring in the boxes. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND THE TIME AND DO NOT PICK THIS COMPANY.

Michael and Natalie La Delfa

This company consists of thieves that will just steal your belongings. Do not under any circumstances consider putting any of your belongings in their possession. Find another company. I wish I had listened to the reviews.

I was very pleased with the services provided by Canadian National Van Lines, Inc..I can't say enough about Frank and his team of workers on both my move out and move in days. They arrived on time and were very hard working, wasted no time and took the extra special care I required for so many of my delicate items like stained glass windows and sculptures. They were respectful and careful and so amiable. They were so willing to reset things in a room to where I wanted them on the day of my move in that it just made things much less stressful, particularly because of their willingness to help. They completely put my mind at ease and I was able to get things done while they were here in my new home. That's not to discount the help of Courtney and Hanna in the office. Courtney sent me the proper forms to get an accurate quote and followed up each step of the way. I They were all so helpful and kind that it made this very stressful process so much better than I anticipated. I can't thank them all enough for their wonderful service and I will definitely recommend Canadian National Van Lines. to all family and friends when in need.

Gabrielle Parent

Horrible company. Do NOT use them for your move. It ends up costing way more than expected, there's always something you didn't know or wasn't properly explained that you find out about afterwards. It felt like I was getting scammed but by then, it was too late to back out because I had to get this move done. They damaged some furniture, lost a trunk of mine that contained so many precious items to me - things made by my grandparents (who are both dead), things that I've had since I was a child, pictures and souvenirs from various trips, my son's school pictures, etc. And then they end up wanting to give me $50 for this more than 8 weeks after I submit the claim! Give me a break! How do they even lose these things? Horrible situation from the get-go.

Manish Harpeet

I was looking for a moving company to move some of my late father’s items from his home to my home. They were very important to me and I wanted to ensure they arrived safely. I chose Canadian National to me them and they did not disappoint. My moving agent Abigail was extremely helpful and very quick with their emails back to me. When the guys arrived, they used special blankets to wrap the pieces in and made sure they were wrapped good and tight. Everything arrived in great condition. I was very happy with the customer service. They were always easy to reach and nice to deal with – very down to earth people. The quote was good and we didn’t have much of a surprise at the end. The weight came to the same as estimate and the extra 1 month storage is the only thing we had to add extra. At delivery the guys had to climb a hill unfortunately and we had to pull in the neighbour’s tractor to help – but the guys (marco and johhny) were patient and even in the cold day that it was pretty understanding. There were extra charges for this service but I called the head office and they were able to bring some of the fees down because the neighbour’s tractor could be used. All in all I would not hesitate to use them again.

Hannah Hackney

Half my furniture was never delivered to me, many of my items were broken, and I was offered a $50 dollar refund after 15 weeks of hounding them with dozens of emails and phone calls. They do not even comply with their own claims process (which takes 6-10 weeks) and I had to file through Better Business Bureau to get my measly compensation. Do not listen to the A+ rating on BBB. The A+ rating is because they have "resolved" their claims consistently by giving small (30-50$) refunds for major mistakes in moving. The A+ rating does not reflect the rate of error or customer satisfaction. this move cost me so much more than the non-competitive quote they gave me. Try Centennial movers, I had a good experience with them.

Rebecca Bossack

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY Between a late pick up date that almost caused us to reschedule a plane, to a wrong delivery address with less than 24 hours notice, to them dropping and breaking many of our items in front of us, horrible customer service, long response times, and thousands of dollars of damage being compensated a whopping 40 dollars, I don’t know how this company even stays in business. I will BLAST this everywhere, trusted them to at least move our big furniture without damage and we expected the boxes to be a little destroyed, they went above and beyond and just broke everything. I don’t even have words for how furious I am.

Alicia Bolton

They are scam artists that steal bikes to sell them. When they picked up my things, they were not careful in tagging them, there were tags that fell off in the hallway that I had to pick up and notify them about. They "forgot" to indicate my bike on the inventory list which I alerted them to - make sure you have your own logging system. They still "lost" my mountain bike... never attempted once to check in with the warehouse to find it, actually lied about that because I hadn't provided a description yet and claimed that they checked already, completely ignored my calls and emails and then months later offered only $75.00 for an over $2,000.00 bike. If you like your things, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. What a nightmare experience. I also tried to speak with my CSR's manager and she passes me onto her peer who claims the manager isn't available and no one contacted me. If I could give them zero stars and leave a review, I would.

Buck Nasty

Pure scam, They deliver furniture broken, missing boxes, boxes that are upside down, and claim they have no clue where my missing boxes are, they offered me $40. Don't waste your time, or money most importantly.

Adam Heisler

It was hard choosing any company to move from one province to another when reviews about every company is bad. But I took the leap and decided to move with this company. The beginning went good. Can't say nothing bad obout that. It was when the movers got to our new home. I was working and my wife was at home. She asked if they can bring our bedroom furniture upstairs to our bedroom. They wouldn't even help her. They only moved the dresser and left the rest of the bedroom furniture downstairs and said we pay per flight of stairs. I never heard of this before. Then to top It all off they through TVs and computer and monitors and everything in big boxes nothing was wrapped up. Opened the box when I got home and noticed scratches upon scratches over everything they packed. They never bubble wrapped anything or protected anything that needed protection. I wish I was there during the pack but was gone already due to work and with the transfer. I ended up putting the claim in and they told me we packed all that stuff. Like really then only offered 50 dollars for everything that was destroyed and damaged. Will definitely not recommend this company and if I have to move again ill uhaul it myself or look for a way better company.

nima N.B.A

The worst experience of mine in the last couple of years. Several hidden fees. They charge you based on number of items (on the contrary to their claim which is bold in your contract mentioning that they will do it based on the weight). Item missing. Damaged. Do not contact them

Rebecca Bin

Hired this company and it was a terrible experience! Communication was horrible get hung up on or the run around. The movers actually did damage to house door frames in the house. Finally emailed Courtney and she was awesome to deal with very helpful. So now let’s get to the actual moving I had mostly everything packed except bigger items and I had huge signs on my Boxes which said was fragile do not pile on and what did they do they piled things on them when they got to the destination they were on the bottom on the truck. Now for my bigger items i wrapped my headboard and bed with blankets and it showed up with no blankets on any of the pieces with lots of dents and rub marks which I’m super angry about! My bunn coffee machine is broken the lid Of the machine was ripped off and smashed end tables have rub marks on them so many of my items broken my paintings China smashed you can tell they didn’t care about our belongings! Now when the truck arrived there was no Movers’s hired.... so we had to u load it ourselves truck driver helped us. They only gave us 200 back for Unloading the truck! Ugh it was just a night mare from the stop please do not hire this company! Save yourselves the grief!

WowitsScoot G

Moved from NS to BC. 15+ items have been damaged. Entire bedroom set, kitchen table, TV stand(even had a nail in it), book case was completely destroyed, chairs had thick grease on them, multiple boxes have boot prints on them. Multiple motorcycle helmet boxes(had helmets in them and i stated that during pick up) were caved in or damaged. I also feel as if they charged me more for weight than they should have. But I also don't have a scale so that one is hard to call.

DS

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Over $3000 worth of my stuff was damaged during the move, and they only were willing to give me $0.60/pound. First they took 2 months just to acknowledge my report about my missing stuff, then they told me that I didn't even report anything even though I did and had proof. I booked my move with someone named Hanna, and I was later referred to "Ellie Newman" who is the general operations MANAGER. She told me I'm entitled to only a $35 refund, despite the true value of my items. I can't replace my items with $35!!! Something can be less than 5 pounds, like an iPhone, and that definitely DOES NOT cost $3!! I lost an Xbox and PS4, and they are giving me $15 for them, TOGETHER. DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY!

DouubleTaap

Hired these clowns to deliver 10 boxes + other belongings to my new residence. They lost 4 boxes and refused to compensate any of it. I also specifically told them NOT to include any wrapping/tapping/other protections as I had already done that to my belongings before the move. They included a bunch of ridiculous charges for extra taping, bubble wrap, and other wrapping despite this. My final price was nearly double what was originally agreed upon. Also, they will only send you the final price after they already have all of your belongings, basically holding it hostage until you pay. Stay away from this scam company and its shady employees. They will lose, break, and steal your things, and will not compensate you for any of it.

DO NOT TRUST THESE CRIMINALS. First off it took over 2 months to receive our belongings. So we had to buy air mattresses, bedding, dishes, appliances and etc. to basically camp in our new house. Then when it did arrive we received a call telling us we had to pay up front or the door on the truck would not be opened. Then they only sent one person, the driver, to unload. He was an angry and miserable little man. He made numerous attempts to postpone moving our items and then took off suddenly. We are still missing items and many items were destroyed. All communication is ignored and responded with, " if you have any questions feel free to email us" which concludes in an unending cycle of me asking questions and no answers given. They lost an 800 mirror and offered 35$. Criminals.

BUNCH OF CRIMINALS.. Only trying to find a reason to rip off your money. Upon agreement on a quote to pick stuff off from montreal at a certain price, I get a call from the manager "Hannah" who was absolutely arrogant to start with and then quoted a bill $250 extra on what was quoted earlier stating the reason that TAX & PACKING WAS NOT INCLUDED IN EARLIER QUOTE. She didn't even refer to Quote earlier sent by her colleague to me by email and suggested that "SHE KNEW THE MATH" Upon me insisting to refer back to the Quote that was she realized that she could not swindle me off this time as it clearly suggested in the Quote that Tax was inclusive. After ten minutes, HANNAH MADE HER DRIVER CALL ME , and suggest that distance between the truck and elevator was more that 100 feets and hence would charge another $100 extra. When i asked the driver how he measure 100 feets, he showed me baby steps. HANNAH the customer service manager , her drivers and HER COMPANY ARE A BUNCH OF CROOKS. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!

I'd give this company negative stars if it were an option. My husband and I moved to Halifax from Ottawa and we had nothing but issues from start to finish. We thought we were going through a reputable company (BBB etc) but as it turns out we were probably better off renting a UHAUL truck on our own. We were quoted several different amounts when sending them a tally of our items. Days before our big move, they called us to notify us that the movers would be coming 5 DAYS before the original date to come and pack up our belongings. This really put us out in a big way (no bed no nothing for several days before we actually drove to Nova Scotia). Not to mention our puppy had just undergone emergency surgery and we had nothing for her upon her return home from the hospital. -the movers were four hours late (arrived at 9pm on a Friday) -they were extremely rude and condescending when speaking to us saying they had "had a long day and still had a long trip back to Toronto" -they proceeded to speak in their mother tongue (which we found to be extremely rude speaking right in front of us as they.. -proceeded to handle our items with little to no care -it took them three hours to pack our belongings (noise bylaw begins at 11pm and we had complaints) -they stayed in the parking lot until 1am yelling in the truck (we are convinced they were smoking weed in the truck before their "long journey to Toronto" -they left our front door open even after they had returned to their truck and had re entered our house to use the bathroom without even having knocked or asked. -we received a phone call saying the truck would be arriving the day BEFORE we even left Ontario -the woman we were in contact with was impossible to get a hold of in the office and it took her several days to even return our calls -we were given back a WHOPPING $77 for our troubles when we had to pay UPFRONT before our stuff was delivered ($1900) - UHAUL would have cost us $1500 -finally our truck would arrive the day after we got into our new home. We were told between 9am and 12pm -the movers were two hours late arriving at 2pm -we were told that we had to pay extra in order for them to bring our items into the house!!!! -it was raining out as our whole house sat on our front lawn -my husband managed to load our stuff into the house within 45 minutes (huh funny how it took the original movers nearly four hours...) -still the rep. was unreachable or "out of the office" or "busy" MARK MY WORDS, WE WILL NEVER EVER TELL ANYONE TO GO WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL, UNRELIABLE AND DOWN RIGHT AWFUL! YOU'RE BETTER OFF MOVING YOUR BELONGINGS ON YOUR OWN. WE HAVE ALREADY CONTACTED THE BBB TO INFORM THEM OF THIS DESPICABLE SERVICE. BEWARE.

So many hidden fees and charges. I was quoted a decent amount to move some boxes across the country and instead of charging me for the pounds I was bringing, they charged me a minimum amount. Not only that, the amount of hidden fees is abhorrent. I was sent 3 different amounts to pay before I called and complained to which they sent me the amount to pay, only to get a new amount after. Found out that they wanted to charge me over 150 dollars to move my stuff up the 5 steps leading into my house. I called them and told them for 150 dollars, I'd move my own stuff into the house. My mother also used the company only to have them charge her extra for bringing a few more boxes then her original estimate, as well as a hidden fee for wrapping her furniture (which they left all their garbage in the house afterwards)

Hamza Mahmood

Will not recommend! First when they came to pick up stuff they haven't done packing and now if have entered a claim for lost and damaged goods and have asked them about those three times every time they just say we will conatct you ahortly and its over 3 months haven't listened anything from them yet.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't go with this company or anyone that looks similar. They all hire external partners to do the moving, which comes poor in quality. And they transport your item many, many times during the move which likely end up with more damaged. My delivery was 2 weeks late and all of my large furniture was damage. One table was picked-up in once piece but was delivered disassembled. And of course they broke a leg during the process. The so called claim department came back with their calculation, $126 vs. the deductible of $425, so NOTHING.

bad karma

Worst company ever been waiting for my move from toronto to victoria almost a month no one can tell me anything there a joke stay away save your money get a real company to do your move these guys are not worth the agravation they broke my 60 inch tv amongst other things now waiting over a month for the claim allready and still havent heard from them this company is not very professional at all biggest headache of my cross canada move

Lee

What an awful company. Save yourself the money, time and stress of dealing with this dishonest business. They are careless with your belongings. I witnessed the movers drag our new leather couch across pavement, without putting any sort of cover on it, and throw around boxes in the truck. They charge you for services that they refuse to provide proof of (ex: no weigh ticket given even though they charge you $50 for it, $100 charge for furniture coverings that were not used, grossly overestimating the weight of your items to charge you way more than you actually shipped, etc). When your things arrive damaged and you file a claim, they tell you to wait 8-10 weeks for a response from the claims department - in hopes that you will forget and not follow up. When you do follow up on your claim, you are offered pennies on the dollar for your damaged items. I would never recommend this company to anyone and have let all of my friends, family, coworkers and clients know to avoid Canadian National Van Lines.

IF I COULD GIVE NO STARS I WOULD!! I had my furniture shipped from Edmonton to Ottawa. There were 2 glass tables (1 coffee table and 1 console) and they never showed up but the cushions that they were wrapped with did. The claims department refunded me $55 for $800 worth of furniture. The staff are very polite until you realize that they are very unprofessional. DO NOT USE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! This company has to be by far the WORST company I have ever dealt with. I used this company for a long distance move. I wish I read the comments before I booked them. First of all, on their website it states they have a A+ BBB rating, they are not BBB accredited AT ALL, so don’t let that fool you! Not only did they reschedule my move date, when I followed up with when my things would be delivered (which I was told 4 different dates) I was also faced with rude customer service. When I called the office I was silenced MID sentence and put on hold. I was also rudely told by one of their customer service representatives that I (ME, the paying customer) should have done MY due diligence better and asked when my belongings would arrive. What was the point? They gave me 4 different arrival dates every time I called them TO DO MY DUE DILIGENCE, even though they could have communicated with me. I honestly got to the point where I thought this company was a huge scam and I would never see my things again, by the way they handle their customers. I got my belongings (well….some of them, they “lost” my TV) as well as I was faced with FILTHY furniture , broken bookcase, opened boxes, AND a white table written on with permanent BLACK marker! I had asked to speak to a manager (Courtney Adams) SEVERAL times but was told she was “too busy”. However, she had no problem writing my an email. PLEASE PAY THE EXTRA MONEY FOR A QUALITY COMPANY THAT CARES ABOUT YOU BELONGINGS.

If I could I would give CNVL a negative star rating. Stay away!! When looking for a moving company I got quotes from many different competitors. CNVL talked a good game. They are very friendly and professional when emailing and gave me a good feeling about the company. After deciding to use CNVL, I asked if they would meet competitors pricing. They responded that they would. I sent 4 different competitor quotes but CNVL would not match as they said they where a better rated company so charged more. I figured ok, they must be good. Then on the moving day I got a call from a mover, caller display said it was RAM movers and that they were confirming the address for the CNVL move. I wrote CNVL and asked why RAM was doing the move - they said RAM was their partner company. So I sent CNVL a quote from RAM that was a much better price than CNVL. They responded aggressively that ‘CNVL is taking the contract and the price is SET!! We will not change it. If you want to cancel, tell us now’. Meanwhile they had waited to respond until the movers had half loaded the truck with my stuff - I was moving across the country and on a schedule, I couldn’t stop the move, they had me in their pocket and they knew it. The movers seemed to do a good job. They specifically wrapped up my high quality barka lounger, very nice large clock, a very nice tower light and my recently purchased lawn mower in black plastic wrap. I met them a the scale before and after loading the truck. It seems to go pretty well. They put my belongings into storage. They left with my stuff the end of July. We then travelled to Ontario, started my new job and lived out of our holiday Trailer until we found a house. We bought the house but had to wait until oct to move in. The movers arrived the first week of oct, as scheduled. The first thing the mover made me do was sign the sheet that everything had arrived safe and sound. My mistake - please don’t sign anything until you are sure everything is there. CNVL will take advantage and make you pay. They unloaded the truck - I had a lot of stuff. Very hard to keep track of everything as it is coming off the truck. I watched one of the movers kick a shelf of the truck - it broke, he did not apologize. They were very grumpy by the time the truck was empty. Two of our kitchen boxes that were labeled fragile were smashed. Many of our boxes and bins were ripped, dented and collapsed. Almost every piece of furniture was scratched and broken, we found more broken pieces here and there throughout our boxes. The backs of two of our armours were ripped off. Broken handles on my electric tools, broken wheel on my tool chest, missing latch and handle on the same. Broken and missing legs on dressers and armours. AND all the items that were nicely wrapped in black wrap (possibly marked?) suspiciously missing. Every. One. Of. Them! After this they asked me to submit a claim - they then took a full 10 weeks to get back to me. They claimed the deductible was more than the claim but out of the goodness of their hearts they would pay me $55. A terrible moving company - stay away, and please tell everyone you know to stay away. They will NOT do a good job moving - it’s not even them doing the moving! They will NOT give you a good OR competitive price. They will NOT try and find missing items or make any concessions if your items are ‘lost’. Do NOT trust a word they say!!

Roman Romanciuc

WORST COMPANY EVER, PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE Damaged my furniture, not just damaged, but broke it. I have no bed after moving. They kept my sofa outside probably, as it was wet at had an awful smell. After submitting my claim they offered me $45. When called to speak with the claim department, they refused to transfer my call to them, and the person that answer the calls cant offer any information on claims.

Would never recommend this moving service to anyone! So many problems from beginning to end, my move could not have been more stressful. For starters, the quote they gave for the size of my move was definitely low balling it because I was even told that I had less than the standard amount of furniture for the quote and somehow it came in WAY over the estimate (over $1000 more than estimated). Not only that, but there was a fee for them to move my things up a staircase which no one had informed me of either until the day before my things were being moved in and I had no choice but to pay ($300). The actual pick-up of my belongings was horrid as well, as they first called me and told me they'd be arriving three days ahead of my scheduled time. I had to scramble to finish getting everything ready, and then the truck was a no-show on the day and I got a call in the evening saying the movers may or may not show up that night, and if not they'll be there tomorrow morning.

To start with, the office couldn't confirm my pick-up time until the day before the movers arrived, which turned out to hardly matter since the movers responsible for picking up my stuff arrived hours late, without warning or notice. I was quoted a delivery estimate for the truck in 5-10 days, and around day 10 the company would continue to avoid answering precisely when the truck would arrive. It turned out that their estimate was misleading, as they were instead quoting when the truck would arrive at the Toronto depot, and not my final destination despite me asking. This led to a further week delay as they unpacked and repacked my materials. Again, one day before delivery, they called to coordinate drop-off, and originally tried to arrange it for 6:00 in the morning, which was unfeasible for securing the elevator in an apartment building. The movers showed up at a more reasonable time, but brought an impracticably large semi truck that was unable to fit down the street to my building. This was for an address that they had known about for weeks by this point, and could have been avoided. When they arrived, they refused to open the truck until I had paid them, at which point it turned out that I had been charged warehousing fees for the week that they held my stuff against my wishes. My stuff itself was universally damaged to some degree. Boxes marked fragile were crushed, boxes with clothes were caved in, expensive TVs and computers marked "this way up" were evidently flipped and ignored. Furniture is broken and will not close, I have had to replace my computer hard drive due to malfunction, and several of my boxes were missing. To their credit, the company refunded my warehousing fee, though I have seen other comments complain about the same practice happening to them. The company has a nearly insignificant insurance policy with a ridiculous deductible that, in my case, I was only informed of after I'd sent them a deposit. I certainly won't make that mistake again. I filed a claim for my damaged and lost items, and was told that their offer was less than the deductible owed, but by the goodness of their heart they would offer me $50. They took six weeks to 'process' this claim, and only sent me their offer after I had to chase them down, even though their claim offer letter was dated from within days of me filing. The company's practices resulted in my stuff being broken, damaged, or lost, their movers were unreliable and poorly equipped for the job, and their business side twice resulted in me getting charged extra or ignored payment until I had to chase them down for it. I wholeheartedly do not recommend Canadian National Van Lines.

The worst moving company I ever met, I spent 2500 dollars moving my furnitures, and half of the furnitures are damaged, the compensations they gave me only 50 dollars, that is ridiculous.

I recently used this moving company from Toronto to Thunder Bay . It was by far one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. These guys are by far one of the worst moving companies you could go with. They are extremely unprofessional and they absolutely destroyed my furniture. My living room entertainment unit was broken into about ten pieces and left on my lawn. The movers admitted they packed it incorrectly and then when a claim was filed they did nothing. The damages surpassed over 3000 dollars and this company did absolutely nothing to resolve the issue. I would highly advise against hiring these guys. Instead spend a bit more money and go with someone reputable.

Benjamin Racine

If I could give zero stars I would. I’ve used consolidated movers before but none were like this. It was a nightmare from start to finish. They arrived on pick up date without a crew. The only one there was the driver. I was quoted at 5-12 business days once it left the province. That turned into almost 6 weeks of waiting. The day before my scheduled delivery they tried to claim my items were over 8,000 pounds. After insisting on proof they agreed to reweigh the items. Miraculously suddenly the weight dropped by half. They arrived on the rescheduled date only to insist I pay an extra 300 dollars because my stairs were too big. After reluctantly paying the 300 dollars the crew of only 2 proceeded to break every 15 minutes or so to smoke and watch YouTube videos in the truck. After all that we are missing several boxes but since we didn’t pay for the extra insurance we will never see these items again. The professionalism shown by this company from start to finish is appalling but especially the agent we worked with Courtney. I beg of you use any other moving company but this one!!!!!

Scott Wozny

They break and lose your belongings and dont pay to replace

DJ

Do not use this company. My move was the nightmare. The staff were disrespectful to put it mildly and utterly unhelpful. Their business practices are shady and manipulative. You get an initial quote based on the number of rooms in your house. Which is highly speculative. You then fill out a sheet listing the actual items you intend to move. This should give you a better idea of the weight, which the moving price is based on. Here is what they don't tell you. That wild guess/ "estimate" about what the weight of your furniture will be? That's the minimum you're going to pay regardless of what you the list of items tells you your total weight will be or what your actual weight is on moving day. Which is completely unreasonable. I got several quotes for 1500-4000 lbs. My list of items said I would have around 1500 lbs. I confirmed several times that 1500 is what the weight of my move would likely be. They called me several times because each time the person I spoke to apparently couldn't be bothered to make notes about what I had told them before. I doubt this to be true. When I mentioned this, the dispatch worker was extremely hostile and rude. On moving day, after they had loaded my things (carelessly crushing several of my boxes marked fragile), that I would be paying or 4000 lbs. I called thinking there must be a mix up and they had the audacity to act as if I was crazy for not wanting to pay for more than twice what I said my weight would be. The person I spoke to was once again hostile, rude, and unhelpful. Apparently their policy is to assume that you want to give them a bunch of extra money for no reason until you put in writing that you don't. Not sure why they thought I wanted to pay for 4000 lbs after I sent in an inventory and confirmed repeatedly that my weight total was less than 1500 lbs. Eventually they lowered it to 3000 lbs "as a courtesy". Nightmare continues when I asked about the delivery date and they told me they would call me no earlier than 24 hours before delivery to tell me when they would be arriving. I explained that I would be flying in and needed to arrange to be in the city. I asked if they could put it in storage or have my things delieverd last and basically was told it's my problem and I have to take care of it. Then on delivery day, after I arranged for someone else to let them in as I was out of the city, they called me expecting an extra payment because there was a flight of stairs. And refusing to deliver my items until my payment went through. So I had to transfer a payment and keep calling them until it went through. Once again very unhelpful and rude service from dispatch. And of course to end it all several of my things were expectedly broken, some held emotional value and can not be replaced. During an already stressful time, this company made my life a complete nightmare. I have no idea how this place is still in business.

Kartik Gupta

They missed my paid elevator booking time-slot. Then they misplaced a few of my boxes. Gross incompetence. Find another mover and save your money and stuff.

Ryan Skjelmose

Worst moving company ever in the 20 years of moving across Canada I’ve seen. I feel sick giving them 1 star but I have too. They are taken 2 months to move my stuff 3 days away.

Nadia Lindsay

Very unprofessional - Aside from the movers using absolutely no care when bringing my belongings into my house. They dragged my couch all along the ground outside. They lost my brand new TV, my iMac and a laundry basket. In addition to that they gave me someone else’s items and have made zero effort to get it back, I told them that I have it in an email and I wrote it on my claims form. They could literally careless. I would NEVER recommend this company and I’ve escalated my disputes to the BBB.

Ramy Waghorn

Moves are very stressful, especially when you move from a city where not that many companies travel to. I moved from Grande Prairie, AB to Miami, FL and made lots of research and there were very few companies were able to make the move and Canadian National was one of them and had the best price among those others. They assisted with customs and clearance and followed up when the shipment was ready to cross. The move was so easy that I didn't even notice it how it passed. Movers were very polite, customer service was great and very accurate with the details and their estimates. They sent me a list of inventory to fill out and gave me a very accurate estimate. After adding a few more items, we were surprised to find out that the actual cost was within $181.00 from original quote. Delivery was done in about 5 weeks from the pickup. Very happy with the service and recommended Canadian National Van Lines already to everyone I know! Thanks guys!

Yves Menon

If you want to pay top dollar for a 22 day move across 2 provinces and get the added benefit of 1/3rd of your furniture badly scratched or broken, this is the company for you. I would have actually bothered claiming if I thought they were legitimate. Positives? I cannot go down to zero, and the guys doing the final delivery (not Canadian National Van Lines) were professional. Too bad the damage had already been done.

Bill Biolsi

Terrible. They offered a quote. Didn't get back to me. I called them back. I explained that I couldn't move in until the 1st of August, (the previous tenant would be there until the end of July). The pleasant lady on the phone assured me they would pick up my furniture a little before the 1st and drop it off a bit after. Then, after the deposit (ended up being over $400 including HST), told me they couldn't promise it wouldn't arrive after the 1st and asked if they couldn't drop it off somewhere besides my next apartment. I cancelled, they kept the money...This company is an expensive cautionary tale. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Alexis Bradley

Small one bedroom (no appliances) initial quote - $650 actual price - $1200 What they tried to change my quote to the day of was $1600 My advice, keep your quote as low as possible. Use as many large boxes as possible to offset the crazy weight estimates they give your furniture. For example, an ironing board is 40lbs added An outdoor breakfast table and 2 chairs- 500lbs If you don’t LOVE some of your current stuff- sell it and buy new- it’s more money to bring it. If you have small random items, don’t tell them about it- the movers will likely put it on the truck and not call the office- be nice to movers they’re the ones who have the final say- water and tip. Don’t tell the office you want your items packaged. You will be charged for it but the movers will charge you less than the office will. It’s about $20/plastic cover. I dealt with Courtney mostly, some days she was very helpful and others she was awful. They don’t call you the day before to tell you your pickup/delivery time so make sure you call them the day before. Good luck- keep your quote low!!

Rani Singh

This company moved our stuff from Calgary to Regina this past month. There were a few hickups at the pick up but the company worked with us to resolve it. First the elevator was not on service and the guys had to wait. Then the truck had to return as we had a power outage at the building. After everything, my wife didnt understand what departure dates are compared to delivery dates. But Hanna and Ben at the office were great to work with and even answered our emails after hours. I was very upset that we had to be without our stuff for almost 4 days extra but looking back on it - the company made an effort. Our quote was reasonable and the price didnt increase much. We had a TV packed which was $75.00 and we had 2 mattress covers which was $30 extra so not too expensive. I didnt mind paying that. The guys offered and we agreed - they werent pushy at all. Considering the customer service they showed up and depsite the delay I would consider moving with them again.

Anastasia Pindera

I knew what I may be getting into when moving my home across Canada with one of the cheapest companies, and that is exactly what their service is, cheap. They rescheduled my moving date when I was sitting in a storage locker outside waiting for them 30 minutes after the expected arrival time and lost my bike along the way -- offering me $15 in return. I didn't spend additional money on insurance, sure, but how did you loose my bike? They also have a lot of hidden fees and generally poor service. Find another economical moving company, just not this one.

Skyler Kato

HORRIBLE company. They held my product for a month, without explanation, after I FINALLY received my items they were no where near the shape they picked them up in. After I filed a claim for the damaged chairs, table and a nearly $3000 mattress I received no communication, or settlement until I phoned and asked for an update. Once they finally gave me an update on my claim they informed me that I was only entitled to $25. But with the $400 something deductible I would owe them over $400 dollars. Obviously disgusted and left out to dry I don't know what else to do. My booking agent was Hanna, the general operations manager, and I received some of the worst service from her and her office staff. Now while dealing with claims I'm communicating with "Ellie Newman" who is, apparently, the GENERAL operations manager as well. Neither have supplied adequate customer service, and have jut tried to cover their companies butt the whole time. I with I could attach pictures so everyone can see my perfect white mattress covered in black stains and was folded in half for a month while it was obviously moved carelessly in their depot. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Absolutely disgusting service and customer support.

Marianella Cortés

This is the worst moving company I have ever hired. Unprofessional, irresponsible, they charged for services never given, they damaged our furniture and all they say are lies. If you don't want to live a nightmare moving, stay away from this company.

Patsy Shepherd

Our move ended up having close to $3000 of damage which they gave us $40 for. Missing a $600 item, scratched furniture and broken items that the movers packed. I would NEVER recommend to anybody looking for movers.

kristina Sitas

Movers were extremely unprofessional. Did not want to move items into the house as paid for, pushed to move into garage only. Blatantly ignored me and walked away as I was speaking to them. Wore their shoes inside our house on the carpet (middle of March in Edmonton and snowy). Customer service copied and pasted apologized response (font was different than the rest of the email).

Marina Bay

We recently moved to Abbotsford, BC area from Winnipeg. It was a rather small move, but we got sooo many quotes and prices. Everyone quoted around the same price but what made the difference for us was the customer service we received. We had a good response from the staff and we decided to proceed. The trailer arrvied on the specified dates that we booked and we received a call just like promised. The head driver (Ali) i think was amazing. Very professional and I watched him wrap and protect everything. Manny and Johny were at delivery and were also amazing to deal with. We were very happy with the quick turn around. There was a slight delay with the delivery but considering still how quick the stuff arrived we were not too upset. I personally dealt with Hanna and Abigail but the rest of the dispatch staff were not too bad as well.

Alexandra Collins

Followed up a quote with a phone call to inquire about the student discount. I was offered a lower rate for 500lbs, was told the student discount would not apply. We agreed on the phone to a 500lb shipment at $450. plus $50. scaling fee + taxes. Received an e-mail outlining the $450. quote, however in brackets it stipulated a 1000lbs minimum charge would apply. I then called back to inquire and was told it was standard on their paper work because they rarely do smaller moves, and I was assured that I would only be charged the $450, plus $50 scaling fee plus taxes, and anything over that would be subject to a rate of $0.52 per pound. They picked up my boxes a week after I left, and they did arrive in BC within reasonable time. I received a phone call from the movers (who Canadian National Van Lines had subcontracted my shipment out to), they wanted to schedule delivery and informed me the total bill would be $899. I told them there must be a mistake, that my bill should not be that much and the representative told me I had to call the company I booked with. I was confused at this point because I expected him to be the company I had hired. I asked him who he was and what company he worked for if he was not Canadian National, he did not respond and hung up on me. I called into Canadian National and informed them of the mix up on the bills and I was told that my bill was correct and the only quote they had on file was for 1000lb move, which was the $760. I told them they needed to contact the movers because I was not prepared to pay this bill as it was, and that they should not come until the bill had been resolved. I had e-mail correspondence with Abagail during this time, and when I asked for details and explanations about the two quotes I was told that the second and third e-mails I received were not quotes and the only quote I did receive was the first one for 1000lb move. Abagail did not answer any of my questions, she kept responding with the same information, responding in circles. The next day the movers showed up, which I was not expecting. Half of my boxes were crushed and one box had been taped back up because it had split open. My fragile boxes which were clearly labelled had dents, breaks, tears, dents, holes and boot prints on them. After discussions that went nowhere on the phone. I was told that if I refused to pay they movers would remove my boxes and I would be charged for two moves. I asked how I could be charged for two moves when I made it clear that delivery should not take place until the dispute of the bill had been satisfied. Abagail refused to admit we had talked on the phone the day before, maintained that she received no request and two charges would apply. I ended up paying the bill only out of fear of the treatment of my boxes as they had already been damaged so much. I offered to compromise with Abagail, stating that clearly her office had given me misinformation, and I did not trust the company to remove my boxes safely. I offered to pay the original quote with the student discount applied. She refused to even entertain the conversation of negotiation and told me my boxes would be taken back and two charges would apply. I once again brought up the original conversation on the phone. Abagail repeated that they are not liable for information given out over phone calls. I said if they were not going to honour phone conversations that they needed to have a disclaimer before speaking with anyone. Abagail once again repeated that if I refused to pay the bill it would be taken away at my expense. If you are going to use this company. do not speak to anyone on the phone, make sure you get everything in writing. I was informed by Abagail that they are not responsible for conversations had on the phone, I had this conversation on speaker and have witnesses to this statement. If you do speak to someone on the phone make sure you record all your conversations, and inform them you are doing so. Should you decide to use this company make sure you have everything verified in explicit details.

Worst experience ever. moved from NB to ON. To start, the actual weight was less than the quoted (Paid) one and of course they will never refund you. The difference was arround 350 Lbs. at the delivery, I found many items damaged (Dining table, Bed, dresser, freezer, dishes...). Also, I paid for the assembly of the bed, the guy didn't know how to do it and he couldn't find the screws (They were lost). he told me maybe they are on other boxes if you find them please call the company and they will send someone otherwise, please make a claim along with the damaged items. 2 days after, I found them on a small zip bag, so I assembled the bed by myself and when I called the company for a refund, they said the service was completed successfully and if I'm satisfied I can do a claim. I sent the claim with all the required pictures and information. it took almost 2 months to get a response. at the end, they gave me $50 for all the damaged items, delays and the assembly fees. I've sent many claims after that, but no one is responding

I'm going to be as honest as I can. I have never ever dealt with an organization in the past that was so poor, unprofessional, and disrespectful. I don't normally take time out of my life to write positive or negative reviews for businesses but I felt obligated to do so this time. That is of course to make sure nobody else has to go through the immense trouble I did during the last few months. I'm sure somebody from the organization will try to reply to my post stating, "we took care of everything, reimbursed you and so on". Please do not fall for it. It's all a hoax. An embarrassment to the Canadian name that they possess. My move was from Toronto to Edmonton. To start, they lie about the quote. They told me they would weigh my items and then tell me the final price but didn't do so. Got charged an extra $250 there. The movers came in, smashed one of my lamps (that wasn't even part of the move). They "special" wrapped some of my items WITHOUT asking me and charged me $80 extra for it. When I told them that I didn't ask for it, they said "call the company and they will remove the charge", which of course didn't happen. My items arrived a few days late. The movers who delivered the items said my building was more than 100 feet away from the truck (which was debatable) so they charged me an extra $75. My TV was damaged to the extent that it does not work. My dining table legs were missing screws and nails. My boxes were extremely mistreated arriving in miserable shape. This of course meant that my other items in the boxes were damaged. All that is just the 1st half of it. For a moment, lets give them the benefit of the doubt. Lets say that things happen and most businesses compensate the customer for their mishaps. I of course being a disgruntled customer, give them a call to see what kind of reimbursements they would be willing to give me for the excess damage and inconvenience. Believe or not, I called them more than 10 times and the staff at the organization literally ignored my call. The receptionist would never hand the phone over to somebody in charge. The 2 main employees I was dealing with literally refused to come on the phone and have a conversation with me. They would leave me 1 line emails along the lines of "you didn't pay for insurance, sorry can't help". You probably get the idea of the type of frustration I went through. After roughly 35 emails back and forth, they reimbursed me $75. For a total damage and extra charge of $700 that I had to pay for my own pocket, they reimbursed me 75. Absolutely pathetic. I plead you to not take your business to Canadian National Van Lines. Any other organization, no matter how poor will be a better choice. Once again, please do not believe the response to this message that will sound very sweet and professional indicating that everything was take care of in a proper manner. That was definitely not the case. The only reason I'm giving this company a 1 star is because it won't let me submit a 0 star rating.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are not gentle on your belongs, opened boxes to broken items. Moved to a more remote area - was told we need to pay for a shuttle to get up our driveway as the 18 wheeler was too big (1500). When they arrived it was still in an 18 wheeler. Helped move my own belongings as it was a 75 foot walk. Called to get 1500 back as the shuttle was never used and they said that the delievery guys had to walk 600 feet (without our help) and still charged us. Horrible service, do not use.

My recommendation is NOT to ever book with CNVL. They are very responsive when it comes to pricing and arranging the details for the move. However, our experience has been horrible beyond expectations. From unprofessional workers, to indecent handling of our personal belongings: boxes were delivered upside down, our couch (worth $2000) was stained with markers, and stuff was missing. And the best part? We got no compensation whatsoever. Do not book with these cheap companies who hire third parties, get a company with its own employees, it's well worth the headaches.

Keep looking guys!

I hired this company to do a move from Alberta to BC. I was quoted $1160 to do so. I know the move was by weight and their quote had me moving about 1000lbs. I figured i had about 2000lbs so I thought my move would cost about $2100. When my items were picked up, my bed was disassembled without my permission. This was done so poorly that the bed was rendered useless. My items were picked up on November 11. I was told they would arrive between November 27 and December 2. When that week arrived and I hadn't heard anything, I had to call their office to see what was going on. Abigail, my sales rep, said she didn't know and gave me a BC number to contact. They didn't know so they gave me a number in Toronto to call. My things arrived 2 weeks late and with the news that my payment wasn't $1160, or the $2100 I was expecting. It was $3300 somehow. I asked to see my scale ticket when the movers came as per my contract then to go over any other charges I had. I was told I was being charged for weight (4300lbs) and packing supplies. I asked if I had been charged a fee to get my things up the flight of 16 stairs at my place and was told no. When the movers arrived to deliver my stuff, I was told there was going to be a stair fee to bring it in. This blew my mind as there was the same amount of stairs at delivery as there were at pickup, but I had no charge at pickup according to my sales rep. They had no scale ticket for me. The movers brought my bed and a few small boxes to my apartment and the rest to storage. I had a 5x10 unit rented. They said all of my things would fit in there. After over an hour and a half of loading with 3 guys there, they informed me it wouldn't fit and to move to another unit (across a 5ft wide hall) would be several hundred dollars. When I called their office to complain, the movers got mad at me and continued to load my things so poorly that it was a hazard to unload the unit. I went home to put my bed together to find it couldn't be used. A month later, a different moving company came to unload the unit. They were shocked at how poorly it was loaded and began to ask me questions about my previous move. They showed me that my tv's were stored face down on metal which is horrible for flat screens, that my dresser has a massive crack in the frame and they informed me that there is no way I had 4300lbs moved. With the stuff in the unit plus my bed (117lbs frame and a queen mattress) plus my few boxes I was looking more like 3000-3200lbs. When the unit was unloaded I noticed serial items that were packed and at the front door had not been delivered and that the movers stole 4 750ml bottles of vodka from me. My sales rep did absolutely nothing to help me out and was rude to me when I asked for a manager. The manager was very kind and was the only pleasant experience I had. However, she even said to me that I'm not the only one with these issues lately with this company. When I submitted my claim for my damaged goods, specifically just my bed, I was offered $55 to replace it as I didn't have their insurance. Nobody spoke about this insurance to me, It was just written at the bottom of an email. Insurance is free money if sold and the movers handle things correctly. It is apparent that this company doesn't mention insurance as they know if people buy it, they will have to actually pay people back for what is damaged. My issue isn't about things being dented or knicked, my issue is that my bed was knowingly taken apart without my permission and damaged in doing so, and this company is trying to get off on a technicality. Abigail, like everyone says on here, is a crook, a fraud and shouldn't be in customer service. This company is a scam. I hope everyone on here complaining has submitted a complaint to the BBB as well because these guys need their business licence revoked. Again, only giving it 1 star because you have to give a rating.

Don’t move with them, they are extremely helpful and kind while quoting but complete change once you confirm. What the quote is not what they charge, they do not do an actual weight and overcharge after the quote. Many of my items were delivered damaged and the movers were extremely careless, damaging wall on the delivery end. I’m not sure there are any honest, reputable movers out there, but these definitely are not it...

Let me begin by saying, I am very disappointed in the service, or better yet lack thereof, of this company. Take it from me who have had a most recent experience with them. They did not stand by their promise and commitment of care, service to their customers or attention to detail as they claim. I have added pictures as proof, because those will speak louder than any verbal report written here. My boxes were mostly broken. I had multiple items with scratches and dents. My brand new bed set had so many scratches and dent on it, it was heartbreaking. As you will see by the photos, my items were not wrapped properly for transportation. They were not handled with any care or finess by the movers; instead they seem to have been thrown around. This is a summary of my sad reality and experience with this company: -Delivery men unprofessional in attire, discourteous, and outright disrespectful of my property, the apartment I was renting and me. Dressed in sandals and broken down shoes with an undesirable body odour. -Missing item that I am being told will not be replaced since the deductible value is more than the cost of the item based on weight. Interesting! -Multiple broken items -Non-functional microwave with a missing leg and inner plate. Also told it cannot be replaced because its value is less than the deductible. -Offered less than the value of any single item damaged or lost as compensation. Now, the choice is ultimately yours. A word to the wise is sufficient. Personally, I will never use this company again or refer them to anyone- not even my worst enemy.

The worst moving company I ever met, I spent 2500 dollars moving my furniture, and half of the furniture are damaged, the compensations they gave me only 50 dollars, that is ridiculous.

Many, many thanks to Abigail and Hanna who were so caring and truly amazing. I couldn’t say enough good things about this company. They treat you like a person and not just a number. Moved with my girlfriend from Winnipeg – Burnaby area. I couldn’t have been happier. They were on time and when the stuff came a bit earlier they stored it for us. I also got a booking discount which was neat.

Tried to ripe me off for $1000. Scratched all my wood furniture. Call and call no one gets back. Wondering if there is actually a claims departmentm
