We recently used GCVL for our move from Red Deer, AB to Kentville, NS. Sara and her team were great! They answered our questions and kept us well informed throughout the whole process. The moving crews at both ends were very professional and efficient. Our belongings were handled with care and arrived on time. Only one item was damaged during the move, but GCVL did not hesitate to reimburse us for the damaged item. Overall the move went smoothly and I would highly recommend this company!

I used GCVL in 2018 and was very happy with them. I recently used them again in September 2019 and added their packing service. I couldn’t be happier. They arrived on time at 9:00am, estimated the time to complete at 6 hours and sure enough, at 3:00pm, everything was packed efficiently, loaded on the truck and they were gone. Their packing was excellent and nothing was broken in the move. The crew members were very pleasant and answered all my questions. I would only use them for a long distance move and I highly recommend the packing service!

We had this company move us from BC to Toronto, ON in the fall. We originally had another company lined up but they told us they couldn't do it after a week of thinking we had it booked. So we called Great Canadian Van Lines. They were great and re assuring. They were easy to contact, responsive and friendly. We received our goods in 2 weeks which is what we were told. I must say that they seem to be a little more expensive but everything arrived so overall a good experience.

Most professional move at reasonable rate. I had a sofa, chair and a few boxes to move from one city in the east to a city in west. They were quick to give me a quote, set up pick up and delivery times. Called to give me updates. About 30% less than other professional moving companies.

I used GCVL for a move from Vancouver to Toronto in 2021. This was my first time using movers, and it was a terrible experience. Here is a short list of the problems with GCVL: 1) The salesperson was very hands-on and made lots of promises, but as soon as I had paid I never heard from her again. 2) GCVL called me 30 minutes before my movers were supposed to arrive to tell me they would be a few hours late. This was a problem because we had booked the moving elevator and there were other moves going on in the building. 3) GCVL and/or the movers lied about the cause of the delay. GCVL said a mover was injured, and the movers said it was because a previous delivery was delayed. 4) The movers ended up being over 6 hours late and it went on well past when we were supposed to do our key handover to the new tenants. 5) When the movers arrived, they were rude and unprofessional. One refused to wear a mask, bragged about not getting a COVID vaccination, and made inappropriate jokes towards me and my partner. 6) The movers dragged a wooden bed frame across the concrete parking and scratched it up. They would not let us look at the inventory of items they wrote so who knows if we even received everything. 7) When trying to book my move-in date it took 3+ weeks to receive a response. 8) The day of my move I received an email 45 minutes before they arrived to say they would be 5 hours late. They told me that there was only one person with a key to the storage unit and he was late. (90% sure this was a lie as well). That wonderful experience cost $6,000+. I had always heard that moving companies were a scam, but this was far worse than I expected.

This was a major move for us and after careful consideration, we chose Great Canadian Van Lines to move us from B.C to Ontario during the height of COVID-19. We needed to ship two cars as well, which Great Canadian Van Lines organized for us with Livingston Transportation which also gets an honourable mention here. GCVL organized 4 men to look after our move out and 4 men to move us into our new home. The one constant individual was the driver Sean, the leader who not only did the drive across the country but was tasked with disassembling and reassembling our expensive Martix Elliptical machine (which we paid for in advance). My one recommendation to GCVL would be to make sure that this individual was qualified to do this. As it turned out, Sean wasn't able to successfully reassemble our machine, so we had to organize another company to do this. GCVL took full responsibility for the error and quickly reimbursed me in full for the additional work done. Back to the move in. It was a scorching hot day in July and everyone powered through it graciously. A special mention and thanks goes to Sean who has an amazing work ethic! GCVL actually went out of their way to get our delivery date shifted two days earlier which was amazing! So yes, we highly recommend GCVL for anyone needing a long-haul move. Considering the pandemic, our move was stress-free and on time with NO Damage.

From the initial estimates and the initial loading this was a positive experience. I felt my concerns and worries were addressed professionally. My goods arrived in the time period promised and the unloading was handled well and courteously. I packed myself and in the end only three pieces of glassware were broken out of a 5200lb shipment. I would highly recommend Great Canadian! ( and the weight estimate was out by 27 lbs.!! - the final weight is only known once the truck is loaded)

I hired Great Canadian Van Lines in summer 2020 during the pandemic to move my family's belongings from a 2bdrm/1bath condo in Edmonton to a residential garage in Toronto. We packed our own belongings. The services GCVL provided included loading boxes and furniture in the 5th floor condo, setting up freight transport for a vehicle, and unloading the shipment into a garage. On both ends of the move, the movers were punctual, careful, and friendly. I did join the mover to the weighing scale for my own comfort. The final price was accurate to the estimate and reasonable (they aren't the cheapest but they aren't the most expensive). Nothing was damaged. The staff kept in touch with me through the move. Everything was on time. I would recommend to anybody undertaking a cross country move.

Used GCVL to move from Toronto to BC, was very pleased with pick up and responses from our crew. Shipment got delayed and our driver Codie became unresponsive as our expected date came closer. When they did arrive, they didn’t follow COVID protocol and wear a mask despite asking and spoke how they were pulled over from driving too long hours that’s why they were late. We were missing a package and were told it would be dropped off a couple days later. When we spoke with Codie, he said he checked his warehouse and had it and would drop it off tomorrow, when we spoke with him a couple days later, he was back in Ontario and we were told to contact support. Who offered us a small compensation that wouldn’t make up for the missing box. Since then, the customer service has ignored emails and we are left in the dark. From the other reviews here, seems like a good shipping company if everything goes smoothly, if it doesn’t, you’re on your own. Not worth the risk.

Before moving I thoroughly researched all the moving options at my disposal. Great Canadian Van Lines were the most reliable during my initial contact with them, and were very flexible towards my need to interact by email. The price was very reasonable and the difference between the estimate and the final cost was not much, as I had many heavy small boxes of books. The driver and movers were all professional and completed both the load up and load off very quickly. I highly recommend this company, as the pandemic started partway through this process and they made a stressful move as smooth as possible.

Pros: All of our stuff arrived on time, and nothing was broken or missing. No extra fees, except for the usual. Cons: Expensive Didn't allow us to be present during the weighing Usual extra fees not included in original quote (like all movers) They wanted to drop our stuff off earlier than our arrival date and kept threatening us with crazy extra charges (while this was stressful, they didn't end up charging us anything extra). Overall we are happy, and glad our driver - Peter - was able to deliver our stuff without charging us extra. As far as moving companies go, these guys seem to be less criminally exploitative than the rest. We would go with them again.

Great Canadian Van Lines assisted my family in moving from Toronto to Vancouver a few months ago. I was very appreciative that our shipment arrived earlier than predicted and the driver was very pleasant to work with. The movers were efficient and experienced. However I am extremely disappointed that I have had not one, but several items missing. Although we contacted the driver to inform them, there has been no follow up on missing inventory. It's unfortunate that the stress of moving remains unresolved.

I had a perfect experience with GCVL. I compared dozens of companies, but they were eventually recommended by a family friend who has her own local moving company in Vancouver (but only does local moves). They were always very professional, quick to answer my emails and able to address any concerns I had. I was able to book them for the dates I needed, and the move was only a couple days long altogether. We had a two days window for delivery which was wonderful on my end in terms of organization. Items were packed carefully during pick up and all delivered without any damages recorded. I highly recommend this company. I will definitely hire them again if I were to move back to LA.

Transport only took a couple days. Loading and unloading was only a couple hours. They inventoried everything I had to make sure it all got here. This is the second time I've used them. We recently moved with GCVL Ltd from Vancouver Island to Montreal. Initial Booking Process Sara was incredibly helpful and kind throughout the entire process (initial contact, sending us quotes, transparency about prices, getting back to us promptly and not pressuring us for services). Moving price was very reasonable! 6 Stars for Sara! Pick Up Movers were quick, professional, and on time for pick up on Vancouver Island. We called once to find out where the moving van was and received a response quickly. It took about 3 weeks for our items to arrive. Drop Off The reason I did not provide a 5 star rating was because the drop off was a bit complicated. The driver called 4 days ahead of time to let us know the day and time of drop off (two thumbs up for communicating to us this early). However, he confused the days and I was waiting around all day. He then told me he was coming the next day. He apologized and I could tell he felt really bad. However, In the end, the driver decided to drop off the items the same night (initially planned date). Moving van arrived around 7 pm. Originally it was supposed to be a shuttle van because the streets of Montreal are narrow (which would have cost us an extra $300). The driver wanted us to save the money and arrived in the full size moving truck, which barely fit in the street. It took them about 45 minutes to figure out how and where to park. It was a bit of a stressful situation. All my neighbors were moving their cars to help them find parking. But I must say the two movers where incredibly polite, friendly, willing to help, and wanted us to save some money (which I found was very kind of them). We double checked the inventory list 3 times to make sure everything was there. Some boxes were a bit 'smooshed' in the move - but this was a cross-Canada move and some casualties are to be expected. Nothing to my knowledge broke in the move. I would have given them 4.5 Stars - but half stars are not an option. Essentially just lost a star for some stress around arrival time and day and trying to get the moving truck to park somewhere. I would book with GCVL again.

These guys are amazing. I had to move a three bedroom house worth of goods from northwestern Ontario to Vancouver in November. I got quotes from a number of companies and, although Great Canadian was not the cheapest, they were definitely the best choice. Their customer service was excellent and they got back to me right away with a quote. Although I didn't give them a lot of notice, they picked up my goods right on time and even delivered them earlier than expected. The driver and his partner went out of their way and even did two pick-ups for us. Their communication was great and they let me know a couple days before they arrived in Vancouver when they would do the delivery. The guys went out of their way on the drop-off as they had a huge truck that couldn't fit into the laneway where I live. We helped them cart our stuff down the laneway to the house and they were an absolute pleasure to work with. And to top it all off, not a single thing got broken! I've moved a lot and this was a first for me. The price they quoted ended up being exactly what we paid, even though we added some goods at the last minute. I would definitely use these guys again!

During my initial research for moving across Canada, I got three quotes from different companies. GCVL were very responsive and had a slightly better price than the others I was comparing. A friend had also used them in the past without issue, so I decided to go with them. Sara, the "Relocation Consultant" who I helped get my quote and answer any questions I had before and during the move, was very responsive and easy to communicate with. She addressed any questions or concerns I had regarding fees for certain items on my quote. Both my move out experience and move in experience were excellent. The move out team was on-time, very efficient, and wrapped everything to protect it. The move out team was similarly efficient and had a system to check that each item was accounted for before leaving. There was some very minor dents/scratches on a few pieces of furniture, but not something you would notice unless you were looking for it and it didn't bother me. If it was a more expensive piece of furniture I might have been more concerned. Overall, I would recommend GCVL based on my experience for moving across Canada.

Great Canadian Van Lines was the best choice I could have ever made for my move from Toronto to Saskatoon! Sara was very responsive with my booking needs, and answered all my questions very promptly. I felt well prepared before the move, and knew what to expect. Amar Sihu and Jazzy were the most amazing movers ever. I have heard so many horror stories about bad movers, but they were an amazing team. Amar did a great job communicating when he would arrive for both the pickup and drop-off, and he even responded to a last minute request for additional mattress bags. He called me when he was a day away, and even called to let me know he was just 45 minutes late coming in. The communication was excellent, and that made me feel reassured about everything. He came prepared with tons of blankets and took great care to wrap all our furniture properly. They were fast and efficient, and I felt at ease that our stuff would be well taken care of. The most amazing part was that they arrived from Toronto to Saskatoon in 4 days!! They were equally professional and speedy in unloading our furniture into the right rooms, and even helped to put the large furniture back together again. I cannot emphasize how great of a moving experience it was with Amar and Jazzy, and I have personally told everyone I know to book with them for their move. 5 star move for sure!

Given the elevator in our new building needed to be booked in advance, they were very accommodating, giving us an approximate window for us to book the elevator for, then making sure to arrive at the small window. Working with Great Canadian Van Lines was a smooth experience. From booking to answering all my questions and doing the reservation, Kathy was extremely helpful and easy to talk to, she went through all the minor details with me to make sure there would be no surprise for anyone (things like making sure there would be enough room for the truck to park both at source and destination, avoiding extra charge if it wasn't the case as they would need a shuttle on top of the trucks). My move was somewhat complex and Kathy helped with all the details, they also helped me book a car relocation through one of their business partners. This is the first time doing a long distance move that everything went so smoothly (I have done other long distance move before). This summer (August 2021), GCVL helped move us half way across the country from Surrey, BC. to Guelph, Ontario. We had been looking into a do-it-yourself move to save money, but are SOOO glad we went with GCVL. The option to pack our own boxes beforehand allowed us to save quite a bit. We were very happy with the final bill, even with having to use the shuttle option in Guelph (due to lack of access to our apartment block). We moved BELOW budget! Great Canadian Van Lines and their associates moved my furniture and other household contents from Ontario to BC in Aug 2020. I was extremely pleased with the service they provided. This was my second time using GCVL and I'd recommend them for a cross country move, which they've done for me twice. Both times the crews I've dealt with have been extremely courteous, friendly and professional. The dispatch and office staff are very quick at responding the inquiries and communicating. Only reason for 4 stars was a few of our items were slightly damaged in the move, though being packed by us this was likely our fault. A book case did get pretty banged up but we were compensated fairly for this. I'd be happy to use them again and would recommend them to anyone!

The estimate she provided was much closer to the actual weight and cost than the ones I got from other companies (which is key, you don’t want to end up with a surprise extra $1000 when the truck gets weighed). Movers did a fine job, everything arrived intact, undamaged and on time. Overall a very good experience and good company- they stand out in an industry that can be sketchy and/or super expensive.

The disaapointment came at destination where one of the drivers reeked of alcohol and unable to do any moving which left a pregnant woman and 1 other man to bring in boxes and furniture. When large 20 ft movng truck arrived it took out several branches off tree on my property, and the movers would not move or not take the branches away...left quite a mess. After a letter to moving company about my experience they did send me $100 towards having branches removed. Whoever are contracted out for these companies should be vetted more carefully as they are representing the company and are part of what makes or breaks the customer experience

We moved from Toronto to Vancouver and I am happy to say everything went very smooth and without any hiccups on this long haul move. Both the staff members we engaged with since the beginning and throughout the move were very professional and always answered all our questions. Kyle especially was very proactive, prompt and made us feel very confident that everything will go smooth, so thank you Kyle for that! We had a pleasant experience with our driver Harry who kept everything on schedule, we was quite accommodating of our requests and quite transparent about everything, which we appreciated. There were some slip ups during the move-out however. The mover crew didn't lay carpets out before starting (we had to request later), and we ended up getting a carbon copy of the inventory which was barely legible and so it felt like paperwork was not given proper attention and got me a little concerned. But on the flip side, Harry and crew made up for it during the move-in and I was pleased that they did everything as expected. Items arrived undamaged and inventory process was thorough and not rushed. Short version : I would highly recommend Canadian van lines, they are an honest and professional group of people and great at what they do.

Our experience with GCVL was just terrible. In May my wife asked a quote to GVCL- it was at 4500lb. They claimed industry standard 650 cubic feet multiplied 7 (?!?). In the next days we updated our List of Goods to make sure we had a better estimate. Ignored. During the first phone call though, they gave us only one option, the "Minimum weight 4000lbs" and delivery in three days. There was, conveniently, no mention of other (longer) options. We are first movers and we trusted GCVL, especially around the weight, and we accepted (unfortunately) that clause - busy mom decisions - blame on us! It turned out that our real weight was around 2000lbs. We ended up paying, in our estimate, 1500 CAD more than we should have because of A) GCVL only mentioned the most expensive option, conveniently hiding the cheapest B) the estimated weight (over the phone) was double the real one. GCVL rejected a refund and encouraged us to go to BBB: "you accepted [a contract] and that we honoured". They passively aggressively answered to our emails that it was my wife's misunderstanding, pushing the burden on us. It was indeed our mistake to trust them with our business, we naively thought they would not take advantage of us like they did. Look for a company with more integrity - this will save you money and mental energy. EDIT: of course this is my side of the story, take it as is. I posted the review after filing to BBB to try and see if they would listen, not really hoping for much - nothing can save you from the contract you signed, only good will. GVCL will do everything to enforce the contract, mentioning that "that's what they delivered, according to customer request" (paraphrasing here). They definitely delivered frustration onto our family.

You hear a lot of horror stories about various moving companies, so I hired these guys because of the BBB accreditation, and it's not for show. (Look it up if you like.) Very organized, professional but friendly, and easy to get in touch with. Your stuff is tagged by number and colour, and you need to confirm a shipping manifest when they depart, and also when it's delivered, so you go through it with them to make sure everything is safe and sound. As a general moving tip, it's good to box and pack your own stuff (and add extra padding). but they do bring these sturdy blanket wrappings to further protect your stuff should you want it. (bicycles were a bit of a concern but they ended up being fine) No real problems, and they got in touch with me immediately when there was going to be a delay in delivery due to extreme weather. (On a small aside; Victoria/Viktoria Movers seem to be one of their subsidiaries/affiliates, so don't worry if the name on the truck differs somewhat when it arrives.) Shoutouts to Team Mike and Team Ivanka for being awesome!
