Here we offer you the information of real people who consumed the products and services of 2 Burley Men Moving Ltd. (Moving Company) in Banff (Canada).
As of day this firm has a score of 4.1 over 5 and that score has been based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that its rating is good, and it's founded on a very high number of feddbacks, so we may be pretty sure that the valuation is quite accurate. If many people have bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the business, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to put reviews when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Moving Company is included in the category of Mover.
Sylvia in and Shane in courtenay were very nice to work with. I would definitely use them again L Seney
Jeff and Dylan we’re fantastic! Cordial polite and super fast! They worked hard and they were super easy to set along with, feel like I made 2 new friends! I would recommend them to anyone that needs to move for sure. By far the best experience I’ve ever had moving!
The team ran an hour late; however, they telephoned to make us aware of the delay. The movers were on task and wasted no time getting to work. The move was completed successfully and without issue. Nicely done!
I was very impressed with the work ethic of the two men who showed up. They were very diligent and focused on getting the move done in a timely manner which when you are paying by the hour is very much appreciated. I only saw them take one break the whole time — and they actually asked me if that was okay. My move was also a little complicated as I was going to two separate places and dropping stuff off and they didn’t blink an eye about doing that and were so helpful and careful when placing things in a storage locker for me. I would highly recommend this company for anybody who is looking for a seamless moving experience from start to finish !!
Movers damaged 2 brand new furniture items, worth $800 total. Received no apology or accountability, was simply told “I’ll text you the number to file a claim”. Never received a text. Followed up twice. Filed a claim, sent photos of damage and receipt of items (less than 6 months old) and was told that for $800 worth of items, they would refund me $21. Absolute JOKE. Do NOT use this company, read the other reviews that say the same thing.
No issues whatsoever with my move. Super considerate and efficient. Would definitely use their services again
Company is incredibly unprofessional. No one communicates with one another, including with the customer. I was always left in the dark regarding prices, when movers will show up (day and time), and where my stuff was the entire duration of the move. I had to call so many times, and on multiple occasions I was told I would receive a call back within 24 hours. I never did, so I'd have to call again in 48 hours. This happened so many times I was beginning to think they wouldn't show up or had lost my stuff altogether. They have hidden fees, make sure when they quote you they disclose all information regarding that. Movers at destination site were shockingly unprofessional; I watched one messing around and fall out of one of the trucks. Now that I am completely moved in, I am noticing there are a few missing boxes.... All in all, please don't waste your time or money with this company. I regret choosing them for my cross-province move.
Nothing different then all the other posts. Scott doesnt take calls & no communication.
Was very pleased with the move. The movers showed up at the appointment time and were well organized, They took very good care of my.furniture and had the truck loaded very quickly. At the new house they laid out movers blankets to protect my hardwood floors and were very efficient. Very nice people too. This is the second time I have used Burley Men to move and will choose them for my next move. Highly Recommended.
Horrible communication between the head office and their workers on the ground. Not the best communication from the workers either. I initially told them I had 1 apartment AND a large storage locker to load into the truck and unload into our new house. They gave a quote verbally and via email. Nothing in the email specified the storage locker too though. I called them to ensure they will change that and let the workers know. I called at least 2 or 3 more times leading up to the move to make sure they know how much stuff we have in our apartment and storage locker and to give them the address to the locker. The 2 guys arrived in the standard truck. They were told this was a quick and easy job to end their already long day with. They didn't mention a thing about the 2nd pickup location or how involved this was. I felt bad for the 2 guys. In the end, we spent a TON of time at the storage facility so they can just rearrange the whole truck to fit in as much of our stuff as possible... costing me more money then if these guys were told what the job was in the first place. If the company sent the 2 guys with a bigger truck and a heads up on what the move was, it would have been so much better, quicker and cheaper. The workers were noticeably upset, tired and started shoving everything just to get the door to close. When it came to unloading to the new house, several items broke, scratches on the newly renovated floor etc. AND... they "told" us that they were calling up 2 more guys to help them finish this job quickly. We weren't told that it's going to cost us TWICE as much until all 4 of them were in the new house unloading for 1.5hrs more. This was a very expensive and horrible move. Shame on you, looking at you, head office. Please save the cut and paste replies for someone else's negative post (of which there are many in recent months). Gotta love the "It appears your move did not go as planned" or the "Sorry to hear that your move did not go well" -- I mean, why not try to take action to make it right? I wrote you multiple times and you did not respond even once. I told you in the emails that I wanted to give you a chance to respond before I left a negative review.
The movers were disrespectful, and they damaged furniture and other items. They tossed things around as though our possessions were junk. I do not recommend this company unless damaged goods is what your looking for.
They moved me on Valentine’s Day and in the snow!! Props to them!! They backed in my old drive way and loaded up. Then we drove to my crowded parking lot of my new place and they made it work! Amazing. I boxed everything nice before they arrived. They wrapped my dresser doors shut and moved it all in one go. Huge truck they have!
The movers were hardworking and got the job done.
Terrible mover to use. Don’t think you are saving a couple dollars using these guys, they will damage your goods. I recently moved with them and they damaged my bed, bicycle, desks and misplaced my keyboard chords. They showed no care regarding this. Pls save yourself some stress and find alternate movers who would care for your goods like professionals.
Today Richard J and Jay P moved a roll top desk from my workshop to my clients home. Having spent three months building this desk, made of quarter sawn oak, I was naturally anxious to ensure that the unit was successfully delivered. Notwithstanding its weight the fellows did the job carefully without any hick ups that could have damaged this heirloom piece of furniture. Thanks guys.
Jesse and Charlie from 2 Burley Men arrived at our home in Regina yesterday to deliver a lovely antique sideboard from Vancouver. The guys were great - mindful of the physical distancing required by the pandemic, on time with several phone calls to get the timing right, polite and courteous, and the furniture was in fine shape. They generously assembled the piece for us as well. Thank you gentlemen!
I attempted to get a clear answer on the delivery date from the owner at least once a week for the five weeks prior to moving. He could never give it. When I booked these guys, I told them I get the keys on Aug 30. It takes two days of driving to get to my new place, so I left on Aug 28. As I was leaving, the mover finally called to give me the delivery information I needed to book the elevator for the move in. But it was on Aug 29, a Sunday. The rental office was closed for the weekend so even if I drove overnight, I couldn't get my keys. I had been clear that I wouldn't have the keys at that point, so expected them to honour the agreement we had made, but the owner told the truck driver that he needed to leave with the truck the following morning and that if I couldn't be there on the 29, they would charge me $600 for the cost of transferring my stuff to another truck. At that point, the owner stopped returning my phone messages, and I was left trying to track down the new truck driver. I spoke to the local rep and he agreed to drop the fee to $300. I was left in an impossible situation where everything I owned was being held by a company who wouldn't give it up unless I payed a fee because of their inability to create a schedule. It was an impossible situation for me to get out of without paying more than the quoted price. When my stuff did arrive a week later, much of it was damaged and a few items were missing. I would never use this company again.
We moved within Cumberland on August 31, 2019 and had 2 cheerful & organized guys show up right on time. They handled all of our belongings with great care and they were also time efficient! My husband & I were really pleased with the whole experience - hands down the best movers we have ever had!
Do not use this company. Lots of promises but did not follow through. 12 days to receive our moved items from Alberta, they will promise you that the move will run smoothly but it doesn’t .Trucks are not able to get through the mountains In a timely matter because of overloading incapable vehicles. My husband is a musician and I was told by Burly men employee that he tested out and played all the guitars. These are expensive items, I was appalled at their ignorance of respecting our property. When our possessions finally arrived, one of the two truck operators was racing the clock to get to a recreational lake on Vancouver Island and rushed the unloading to the point that I felt pressured to let them put everything in the garage and felt very rushed. I was charged $13,000.00 to move from northern Alberta to Nanaimo. The head office was rude and blamed us for the late arrival, cost. Do not trust estimates or time of delivery. Our estimate was $6000.00 over my quote which was $6000.00 even though I contacted the main office numerous times about our possessions and trying to let them know what we had had to ship. We had to pay the full amount before they would unload our Possessions. We were held hostage to pay before items were released. Many of our items were packed in the truck with other heavy items on top of them as it was over crowded, some were damaged. I recommend looking for a different mover.
I want to share my moving experience with Jason & Cole. These two guys were put to the test with my move. Not only did they manage to move 13 very large and heavy boxes, they also took the time to unload nearly every box! However, not without a very grumbles though!! They managed to arrive at my new home within 2 days of picking up my stuff! To put that into perspective, they loaded on a Monday afternoon and drove nearly 1500km to my new home, arriving Wednesday afternoon around 4ish, and then...much to their horror, they have to spend another two hours unpacking the boxes because the boxes wouldn't fit up the stairs and were too heavy. I would highly recommend requesting Jason & Cole for your moves. They also have a great sense of humor, so enjoy their company as these two guys are incredibly hard working. I want to wish them all the best and I hope they managed to get some rest from their crazy week of driving and moving boxes.
This is the second time we used the services of 2 Burley Men Moving Ltd. This move was from a large house to a condo. Dale T, Ainsworth, Paul Q, and Mike S., did an outstanding job. The move was no easy task, which took just over 11 hours. They were professional, polite, and maintained a cheerful disposition throughout the entire move. We highly recommend 2 Burley Men Moving Ltd., to anyone considering a move.
I was very impressed with the 2 young men Athan and Merrick. Courteous, professional and cheerful! An atmospheric river was dumping that day and they did their absolute best to protect everything.
Paul and Tim helped me move a really oversized mirror from one house to another. Both of them were a delight to interact with. I have never seen two moving men in such good spirits. I'm an interior designer so I've worked with a lot of movers. And the fact that this mirror was a pain in the a$$ it was even more of a surprise. The lady they picked the mirror up from also said they were both lovely. The price was reasonable for what the job was and overall i'm very happy with this company and would recommend them to anyone looking or some movers. Also the phone guy was nice to interact with as well. Cayley
Recently we used your services for a local move here in Victoria. Your guys were Patrick, Stephen and Ainsworth. They were a great team and moved all our furniture with great care and without damage to it. Specifically we had a heavy entertainment system which had suffered structural damage in a previous move but these guys moved it without causing it without causing any further damage. Thanks you 3 burley guys!
Very pleased with everything about the service. If I ever need to move again will certainly call.
The guys at 2 Burley Men were great to deal with both in booking the appointment and the move itself. The quote itself was very reasonable (I had been shopping around for a few weeks and most quotes I got were almost double what I ended up paying!). Our piano was moved with great care, and the movers let us know exactly how they moved it, even noting that it may need a tune after the move. Everyone was friendly and they genuinely seemed to enjoy delivering great service along with our piano. Thanks guys!!
My 2nd time using 2 Burley Men long haul (Edmonton - Victoria) was good experience. Malice and Chris were professional and took reasonable care with my belongings. I packed a bit more carefully since my 1st time using the company (different driver) had some damage. Malice and Chris surprised me with their quality of work. I was concerned about moving my toolbox (Heavy & expensive snap on toolbox) and it arrived on the other side unscathed and even inside my tools weren’t thrown around much of at all from being on the road. They also arrived on the day they initially said they were aiming for and although it was late in the day (I offered for them to come the next morning if it was easier) but they still dropped off my belongings that day so now I’m a day ahead of schedule. I read the company has had some bad reviews in the past but i feel like drivers like these are really trying to improve their reputation.
If we move again, we'll definitely use 2 Burley Men! The team in the office was incredibly accommodating (we kept having to shift our moving day) and the moving team was efficient, experienced and hard working.
Fast, careful, reliable, willing to negotiate and fyi Scott the mover is a pro, you should be paying him more...
I definitely wouldn’t recommend these guys. They will probably be the cheapest movers you can find but there is a reason for that. I was told they would be coming to get my stuff in the afternoon to move me from Kelowna to Victoria. The day comes and I’m waiting for a call and it’s radio silence on they’re end. I’m calling the number for hours trying to get ahold of someone and finally at 5pm the manager answers and says that they had the wrong number for me so they weren’t able to contact me (which doesn’t make sense as they had been calling me on the right number prior to the move day). They apologized and said on the phone they would send an extra guy to make sure the move got done quickly that night. When they get to my house to load my belongings, there was only 2 guys there, no extra people. Cut to two days later when they deliver my belongings. Many boxes are smashed in and we are told by the driver that they were “break checked multiple times” which is why the boxes are smashed in. At this point I’m frustrated but just want them unload and leave. Once we start to put our furniture together we realize pieces to our bed frame are missing. We contact the manager and at first he seems apologetic and says he look into it. This was a week ago. I’ve called and texted and have not heard back. I’m sure they lost our belongings and have no plans to look for them. Their reviews rating score on google is not correct. I would definitely not use them again and would warn people about how unprofessional they are.
Apparently they had people call in sick the day of my move so they were four hours late, which I understand these things happen, but these two really young men were sent after they did another job. They arrived tired and were anything but professional movers, they said they sort of took the job because they needed summer work. They smashed my china cabinet into the ceiling at both the old and new place and absolutely cracked and dented my antique couch, for which I was offered a random $96 dollars. I also witnessed the one mover literally step directly into my Christmas decoration tote with his full weight to get to the back of the truck. They were nice but I could have got the same quality and much better care of my belongings with some friends and a truck.
The two fellows that helped us move were awesome. Super fast, professional, and kind. The job cost us less than we thought and was done faster than expected. We would completely recommend their services for a great moving experience.
I want the owner to contact me about this complaint. The company’s communication and customer service is absolutely abhorrent. Everything from booking to the completion of the move was a battle with management. The manager/scheduler promised to deliver my stuff, as per my contract, on July 30th between 12-4pm. It’s now 2pm on Aug 1, and they finally showed up, with my stuff. While I waited for two days with no furniture, I genuinely don’t know where my stuff was, and didn’t know when all of my belongings would be delivered. They have essentially ruined my move. We were promised a certain time and it wasn’t delivered. I asked the movers for compensation or discount for taking time off work, have family take time off work to help and I was met with, “talk to management, but they don’t care about you, and they don’t care about us.” I understand there can be scheduling issues and extenuating circumstances that can affect timing/drop off, but communication is key. The communication has been nonexistent, and I have had to chase them down to find out when my stuff is being delivered. When I called to inquire/complain, I was met with a guy, Scott, yelling and screaming at me saying I was in the wrong about being upset that I didn’t know what ALL of my stuff was. I called today to discuss a discount/compensation for poor quality of service and I was met with a guy, Josh, who again would not let me talk. Rather, he said it’s the nature of the business. I will never recommend this company to anyone, and I call on management/ownership to call me on this. I’d be happy to explain my situation further, and let them know how much of a nightmare this move has been because of them.
We moved last year and I really , really meant to write a review right away because it was an excellent move. Our move was to a small town over 400km away. The 2 young men quickly packed up the truck and headed off. The next morning they arrived at our new home and started the unloading. It was a chilly day and lightly snowing. Being a rural property, they had a long walk from the truck to the house. They worked hard and got everything unloaded safely. They were very friendly and my dogs loved them. Everything was placed in the correct room and furniture reassembled. The price was exactly what was quoted over the phone, and it was considerably less than everyone else. They were also far more flexible for dates than the other companies I called. I would encourage everyone to use them.
It was a great experience to work with you guys! Claudiu
Although our movers were very pleasant fellows, they worked too fast and were very careless with our furniture and our breakable treasures. In the course of our move they broke a mirror, the glass portion of a picture frame, and the wooden frame on a painting. In addition, they dropped a Chinese antique chair that cost $150 to repair, caused scratches on a large and expensive coffee table, scratched three of the four legs on our very costly dining room table, and created a long and deep gouge in a swivel leather chair. Although the company bragged about its insurance policy, it was virtually useless. Glass is not covered. There is no reimbursement for the cost of covered items or even the cost of its repair. Instead, the payout is based on the percentage of space occupied by the items in reference to the size of the entire load. Our claim was valued at a mere $150 with a $50 deductible. I believe the company's claim that the move is insured is a complete fabrication given how little one can claim for damaged items. I would never use these "burley men" again. You should try to find anyone else available as it would be better than taking a chance on the security of your valuables.
Kris and Dakota did an outstanding job for us. Probably the smoothest move we've ever had, and there's been plenty. Highly recommended.
The boys showed up on time and moved our furniture into our storage. Very professional and quick. Highly recommended.
My movers canceled on me the night before. I was able to book with 2 Burley Men and they saved our butts! Dale and Barry were awesome people and heroic movers. They made the day enjoyable. Thank you so much for your help.
We are extremely pleased with the service we received! We will definitely use 2 Burley Men Moving LTD. In the future.
Terrible experience dealing with the movers. They showed up intoxicated and took half day to move my items. Save yourself the peace of mind and avoid the frustration and go with some other professional movers.
Moved our small one bedroom sized apartment from BC to Alberta. Although the arrival date changed a couple times, they were constantly in contact with me and updating me on their status. Several companies quoted us at almost 3000$ without even seeing our items. These guys quoted half that and we still paid less. Excellent friendly service. Would def recommend
Two young and Burly guys showed up and they were very polite, considerate and efficient. They had the delicate task of moving furniture out of a seniors home. They were happy to comply to having their temperature taken, wearing masks and gloves and avoiding contact with the residents. A job well done.
The gentlemen that moved us out of Chinatown were fast, courteous and professional. We will definitely be suggesting 2 Burley Men to everyone.
My family recently completed a move within our apartment building. After doing a lot of it ourselves and with the help of friends, we were physically and mentally exhausted with quite a lot of belongings left to move. 2 Burley Men were able to come the next day and get that last mile done for us. Paul Q and Santiago did in under an hour what would have taken at least another whole day for us on our own, all with due care and attention.
The guys showed up on time, and as scheduled. They worked their butts off to get the truck loaded as quickly as possible, and did a great job. They were friendly and professional, and there were no breakages that I have seen so far. Very happy with their service. The price was a little more than expected, but that was mainly due to the ferry costs and having to split the job over two days
Very satisfied with my movers Darren and Jimmy! They were rock stars on a holiday Sunday. I very much appreciated their professionalism, friendly demeanor, and their very hard work. I would highly recommend this company to anyone and especially Darren and Jimmy, what a great team. They were awesome!!! Thank you!
I hired the Two Burley Men Moving to pack and move our 1 bedroom condo. I was very impressed. That's why I gave them a big five. The team was very professional, polite & worked quickly to get the move done. …
Get your quote in writting! No matter how nice Earl and Scott are over the phone, get it in an email. I was quoted $1425.00 plus $50 for approximately 1500 lbs, but it would be weighed at the scale and we would only pay for actual weight. …
The team were organized and very professional. They were particularly adaptive to requests about prioritizing the way the move was organized to accommodate the customer requirements. Great team, very pleased to have worked with them…
My mom is moving to Parmsville today and I just have to say that Lamar and Will are absolutely amazing! They are personable, quick, efficient and calming. Lamar is also great fun to joke with. Thank you gentlemen for making the move so much better than expected.
Not good. The guys worked hard, but they also broke a bunch of stuff. Their truck was under supplied. They also BROKE MY TV and the company refused to honour the claim in any way. I would not use nor recommend them to anyone. They guys were nice, but the company sucks. Edit: the respond below is patently untrue. 2 Burley Men packed the TV in their moving blankets. I had taken it down and laid it on my kitchen table. I asked them directly if the could move it without breaking it. They said yes. After the long move they convieniently 'let us keep' some moving blankets like those the wrapped the TV and pictures. There was no request to check out the tv. Furthermore, all of our stuff was clearly labelled by room and by the end they just piled stuff up in the garage. I don't blame the Crew as much as the company. The Crew supplied was too small and undersupplied. If you choose to use this company, don't trust them with anything you want to keep in one piece.
The move itself was 5 stars - I removed one star because they were more than half an hour late arriving. Excellent gentlemen who were very professional and competent in their work!
I cannot begin to say what a huge disappointment this moving company was! * They quoted for a one bedroom move (and we’re sent photos) then said I was 1000lbs overweight & charged another $500.00 The move was from Victoria to Kelowna. * Damages: - Broken 38” TV - Broken vacuum cleaner - Broken floor lamp - Memory foam not covered & had dirt & grease on it. - scratched antique chest - Brand new pool cue, MISSING My belongings left on one truck & came to me new home in 2 trucks. They put everything in a storage room with the care of a baboon. Boxes tossed about along with everything else. THE CLAIMS PERSON WAS A REAL TREAT TO TALK WITH. SHE WAS HORRIBLE. DAMAGES CAME TO A MINIMUM OF $1;500. THEY REIMBURSED ME $225.00 in total. AND THE ICING ON THE CAKE.......I TIPPED THEM $100.00 to destroy my things. I tried to get information to contact the owner but no one would give it to me.
This company did not arrive on time. We had a booking for a Saturday at 11:00 to help empty a 3rd story apartment and load a trailer. They didn't call to tell us they would be late until 11:20, and told us they wouldn't arrive until 1pm at the earliest. They had booked a move before us, which we knew was a possibility, but never called ahead to tell us they would not be able to stay on schedule as a result. Poor communication. Everything could have been solved if they had just communicated the day before or even earlier in the morning. Meanwhile I am 8 months pregnant and had to rush to sort out help from friends.
This company is absolutely despicable. The owner Scott is a scam artist and when I used them to move they damaged 1/3 of my furniture and then denied it when I pointed it out. Scott the owner- does not pay his employees properly and treats everyone like they are below him. He will hire anybody. No back ground checks or anything. He is a crack head as well. Highly recommend you steer clear from this hoax of a company!
I had Josh and Melice ( sorry if I spelt your name wrong ) that moved my apartment to a storage unit in Edmonton ( local move ) . This was my first time moving on my own and they made it stress free and easy! They made sure everything that needed to be wrapped, was wrapped. They carefully moved and unloaded in very good timing! I was very impressed that once they were done they went right to my storage unit and they even were there before me!! I'm calling them for my next move and would HIGHLY recommend these two!! ( They also seemed to have a great working relationship, that's nice to see! ) Thank you so much!!!
On site early, fantastic packing, excellent service. Highly recommend.
The 2 movers were polite and professional, made easy work for our move. I would use this company again and also would recommend it. Our movers were Paul and Juan in Victoria. Thanks!
I've used 2BM many times. Without exception, they have been perfect. Dale, Dustin, Barry, and Will were awesome. These guys worked quickly and carefully. Polite and professional at all times.
I recently made a long distance move from Calgary to Vancouver. I was told a 3 day range when my stuff would be arriving in Van. My belongings were already scheduled to be storage at their lot in a truck for roughly a week. I ended up having to wait an extra 5 days in total limbo, my stuff in storage just waiting for them to contact me on when my stuff would ACTUALLY be arriving. I didn't get a call prior as told, instead I got a call saying my stuff was arriving in Vancouver while I was still in Calgary staying at a friends house. So much stress, confusion, and NO straight answers when I would try and follow up. The movers in Calgary were very unprofessional and I myself (being a female in her 30's) had to help move most of my boxes and even furniture. Their arrival time was 6 at night, again not on time at all as quoted. The movers were rough and a lot of damage happened during pick up because of the lack of care. We are talking dropped boxes, dented items, all my furniture was really scratched up, and my mattress was ripped and literally dragged through the dirt because they couldn't carry it. I get moves are an approximate time frame but to be waiting much during this process with little communication or follow up and doing the work seemed like a waste of my time and money. The two movers I had to drop off my stuff in Vancouver where great! Way more careful and aware. A rug of mine ended up being forgotten and again I was waiting and in limbo with what date I was supposed to apparently pick up 45 mins out of the city at a warehouse. I refused and was told that they were in the works of finding a way to deliver it to me but thankfully had a friend just pick it up. This whole ordeal was stressful and probably the worst experience I have had with any moving company. Even now I am asking for a refund for this stress, added costs, and damage but I doubt they will ever follow through. As you can assume from my review, I do not recommend them due to lack of integrity and overall professionalism. GO WITH A FREIGHT COMPANY if you are looking to save money and moving long distance to another province. I have heard such good things, and it will be such a peace of mind to know the arrival window you are given will actually be when your boxes and things arrive. Now I know to always confirm and ask this.
"This company was unskilled, unprofessional, and disrespectful." They were hired to move a piano from one city to another (one hour drive distance). The crew of three arrived with one person who was a piano expert of 20 years. After 1/2 an hour of working under the piano and dissembling very obscure screws (parts of the piano that should never come apart) they gave up stating they did not know how to do this type of piano and I would expect a call from their manager arranging for another crew to come. This company had moved the piano 8 months ago without a problem. I never got the call so I began calling them and finally reached the manager. He told me the crew that had moved it last year was no longer working with them and that there was a broken part on the piano caused by a previous move and they were not able to move it due to that. He gave the phone to the piano expert person who described the bent pin that prevented them from moving it. This was not told to me when they were working on the piano. The bent pin they described was of no consequence to any aspect of moving the piano. I begged the manager to send a crew back to reassemble the piano because no one else would touch it now. His patience left him and he became agitated, as did I. He raised his voice at me saying he could not help me and hung up on me. I called over and over and finally reached someone else who sounded like he felt bad about the situation and said he could send two of the crew back to put the piano back together. They came back and told me their boss was not a nice guy and was rude to their staff and customer all the time. They were not being paid for the two hours of work they had worked on my piano. The two men apologized to me for their boss and began to screw back the parts (the parts that should never have been loosened and removed, still do not work properly now and I have to hire someone to come and service the piano and realign the parts that were removed). I looked under the piano with them and we found a simple wooden peg that pivoted that was the only part needed to removed the pedals (very obvious and easy) that had stumped the piano expert mover who did not return on this trip). These two men did not have any proper tools (flat head screw driver) to take the pedals off and begin moving the piano as was the original plan. The third mover required for this move, who was the piano expert, did not return and had all the tools so this crew could not move the piano but were able to put back the loosened parts albeit incorrectly. The two movers were personable but unskilled in this area. In summary, this company does not know about moving pianos, tried to leave me with an unfinished job that they were responsible for, were dishonest (I was quoted by the manager as saying I told the crew to leave which as not true, I was told another crew would come and they never did), and very disrespectful. The manager was rude, dishonest and unprofessional. I hired another company, James movers who cost less than half the amount, and moved the piano effortlessly and skillfully within 20 minutes each way. I'm still in shock from the way the manager of the Two Burley Men conducted this business and talked to me.
From the moment I contacted the company, I have nothing but good things to say. Professional, very quick to respond, and an honest company... I hope I never have to move again but if I do I will defiantly use the company again... nothing broke and the movers were friendly and assisted with the move 100%... Thank you for making the hardest part of move a breeze!!!
Awesome service...and timely...they have a great price gradient...
Our experience with 2 Burley Men was fantastic. Paul Q and Ainsworth were very professional, and incredibly efficient. They worked very fast without sacrificing the quality of their work - none of our items were damaged, and there were no scratches or scrapes on our walls or floors. We were very impressed and will be using 2 Burley Men in the future for any moving needs.
Paul Q and Aidan E were absolutely wonderful. Great guys who moved some rather large items for me with the utmost care and respect for my property. I highly recommend 2 Burley Men Moving Ltd. I was treated with great respect from start to finish. Would most definitely use their services again.
Easy to communicate with and always responsive. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because they arrived 1.5 hours after the scheduled time for my move. To be fair they did advise that being second booking on the day to expect variation on when they would arrive. They did keep me updated twice by phone with expected time for them to arrive. I do recommend them and thought they were good value for money.
The booking process was really easy, and they kept me updated on what their plan was for the arrival time. Their rates are very reasonable and the guys that came out to do the move where very friendly, careful and professional. Highly recommend and will definitely use again!
We were extremely pleased with the movers we had. We were amazed to watch them fill our storage room to the max with not an inch to spare. These folks were on time and polite, and that is hard to find. Not a single thing broken which meant a lot to me. Thanks guys great job will highly recommend them to anyone
The movers were amazing. They were prompt. They never complained once about the heat or the stairs. They were so friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome back home. Mark and Kevin were funny, personable, and kind. We will absolutely be using 2 Burley Men when we move again. Thanks guys!
My experience was horrible. The guy who was the driver for my move was a complete a$$ and blatantly lied on two occasions and when I tried to call him out he raised his voice at me cutting me off. The next day I called and spoke with two managers who did validate my feelings and asked me to not take that as a representation of their company... At first I agreed but after time to reflect: if they continue to employee this man without consequence, then he is, in fact, a representative of what they stand for. I can't say for sure there were no consequences but I know if this was my employee, there would be a personalized apology to the customer which would include the steps the employee would take to ensure he didn't treat another person the same way.
I had a piano moved by 2 Burley Men in Victoria. Shane, Mark and Dustin did an excellent job. They arrived to the site early and had it done quickly. They were polite, professional and very helpful. I would use them again.
Good movers with nice guys, cost a lot more than quoted and all my bed (x2) and bow flex hardware was misplaced, it’s still in bits
These guys showed up on time and were completely professional and put my mind at ease! I had complete faith in their abilities. They even came out on a Sunday! Tip them if you can afford to! They work their butts off!
Both Chris and Aaron were amazing, they will go and beyond to help us out. Both my wife and I were very happy with their very professional manner. As a former Quality professional these two gentlemen have performed a quality service. No doubt. There were fast, friendly and organized, very impressed with them and we will love to recommend these two gentlemen to anyone who wish to have a very smooth and timely move. Their price tag is so reasonable and not a bit greedy like other moving companies that I am aware off. Totally satisfied. I am not speaking of other movers from this company, I am only speaking of Chris and Aaron who are based in Calgary, bravo guys you were very good indeed. We thank you.
The two guys were super fast and very adaptive to my chaotic life with a special needs preteen a toddler and newborn very pleased with the company
We hired Burley Men to move out of Victoria to mid-Island. When they got to our new place, the long driveway was way too steep for their giant moving truck to turn onto without bottoming out. Best they could do was park the truck at the main highway maybe about 100m down the hill. Let me tell you, they were amazing - we used all sorts of creative ways to get our boxes and furniture up the long steep hill and they were cheerful and positive the whole time and after 6 hours of this (plus the few hours of loading and driving) in 30C heat they were still bounding up the hill with dolly carts full of boxes and furniture as if they had endless energy. I was so impressed, I can't believe how great they were about it. Just fantastic guys. Thanks go to Paul and Mike who were so incredibly resourceful and helpful and professional and positive and cheerful and awesome about the whole situation. I wouldn't hesitate to call 2 Burley Men again, this was our second time using them and they have been amazing both times now.
Outstanding experience. From having to call in last minute to arrange a pickup and delivery across the province. They were able to take the information and get back to me in a quick timeframe and managed to fit the job in. Dustin and Warren arrived and were courteous and very efficient. They called to keep me updated to any changes and what the schedule was. Upon arriving The attention to detail and care they put into wrapping furniture and carefully packing into their truck was surprising. Drop off was just as quick and with the same care to ensure everything was unwrapped and moved in. No damage to any items! In the end they saved us money and did a far better job then expected. Easily one of the best moving service we have used in the last few years! Well done!
Craig and Steve from the Courtenay office were outstanding! They were very mindful of all possessions and pointed out issues caused by previous movers instantly. I highly recommend these two as the6 will look after you as it should be. Great service. Thank you Craig and Steve!
I had a bad experience with 2 Burley Men. They confirmed a date to arrive but on that day after me texting them because they had not arrived yet they kept assuring me that they were on the way but running late. When it got into the evening they no longer replied to my texts or voicemail. They never showed up and gave no communication to let me know what was happening. I was stressed and scrambled to get another mover on such short notice, luckily I did find another mover and got to my new place. I am not impressed with their lack of communication and would not recommend them.
The two gentlemen who arrived were hard working, friendly and generally awesome. I would absolutely recommend this company to other people.
This company is a mixed bag. We booked them to move us from Calgary to Vancouver Island. The two movers that showed up were nice and worked very hard and fast. However, our solid wood coffee table got busted by the time it reached island. It was an expensive table and we didn't get any money back for the damages. Their policy on broken items is written in such a way that you will never get any money back for broken items (the policy basis damages by weight instead of the value of the item). After spending over $2600 on the move you would think that giving us $100 back so we could buy a used table wouldn't be a big deal but apparently it is. Also, another one of our tables (a small side table) was left on the truck. We didn't get it back for another 6 weeks after we moved When we got it back it had chips all over it because it was left in the truck and driven all over Canada before it was handed back. The service is cheap and you get what you pay for. I wouldn't recommend this company.
The 3 movers on my job were amazing. They were super friendly and professional. They worked their butts off and were so fast. I really appreciated their attitude in wanting to get the job done and not take too long. This made the move come well below the quoted cost which was much appreciated !!!! I learned about them from a friend and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone. I would use them again in a heartbeat (but hope to NEVER move again)!!!
We had Mike and Paul do our move - they were fantastic. Not only did they show up on time (a rarity in this business) but they worked insanely quickly, efficiently and were all-around nice guys to boot. There were some hairy situations and they were able to figure it out like it was nothing. A++++++ to 2 Burley and our movers.
Guys were very productive and professional!
Worst Move Ever! Feedback from 2BM move; Kelowna, August 28, 2020 A week prior to our planned move, we arranged for 2BM to move furniture & personal items we packed from our house into 2, 20x8' containers in our driveway, scheduled for 1:00 PM Thursday Aug 27. We got a call around 12:30 PM on Aug 27, saying they could not come, due to delay with previous job, broken truck, etc... but would be at our home the next morning at 08:00 am. Next morning, the first guy, Ryan, showed up around 08:30, on his own, no other helper or sometime to oversee the move. Ryan was pleasant, seemed to know what he was doing, and got to work. Shortly before 09:00 the boss, Mike, drops off a scraggly, hungover or stoned looking guy named Victor, who moved some of his belongings (including a crack pipe) into Ryan's car, picked up a couple of things, was maybe on-site for 15 minutes, then he left! Never saw him again! We called Mike several times to tell him this was unacceptable, but did not hear back from him. Instead, Mike drops off another young scraggly skinny guy (from a homeless shelter) who was stoned on something, and a very large mid-50's guy (from one of the Missions). We let the skinny guy know that he was unfit to work, because he was impaired (but not likely to be able to lift anything weighing more than 20 lbs anyways), and called Mike to pick him up. Meanwhile Ryan is busily working away, and my husband Jeff hops in to start helping, as the larger guy (George) was huffing & puffing, wheezing, and we thought was going to have a heart attack! Seriously! After 1 1/2 hrs, we had him sit down in the shade, gave him some water, and called Mike to take him away. Mike agreed to come back and help, and by the time he did, it was 1:00 PM, with the biggest of our furniture items left to move into the containers. Fortunately one of the women cleaning our home called her boyfriend and arranged for him and his friend to come in and help. Thank goodness, because there is no way we could have got it done by the end of the day. We finally got everything loaded around 3:30 PM, and let everyone go. 2 days later, Sunday Aug 30) we decided to open the containers to make sure everything was secured, before the moving truck picked them up the next day (Monday Aug 31). It was a complete nightmare! Stuff was literally thrown in anywhere -- even found two boxes of heavy, cement, lawn figurines on top of a glass entertainment table clearly marked as such, with FRAGILE written on top. The second of the 2 containers might have been half fully utilized -- clearly not loaded by professionals! We spent several hours re-arranging the mess, and then secured anything that was at risk of toppling over with various straps, etc... Bottom line: this was the absolute worst moving experience we have ever had, and 2BM completely failed to provide the service they promised. The entire process was a complete shambles, and 2BM should be embarrassed, apologize to us, and refund whatever we paid them -- as whatever it was was way too much. We will never, ever, recommend 2 Burley Men, and will share our experience with others on social media. Jeff & Susan Vandermolen Kelowna, BC Canada
The guys themselves were awesome! They worked hard and were careful with my furniture and belongings. They were professional, friendly and eager! However, the dispatch for Two Burly Men, has difficulty in getting the addresses, and information correct. I’ve used this business 3x and 2x out of the 3 they completely got the addresses wrong and what it was they were going to be doing once they got there. It is important to confirm with them several times, the details of the job you want done.
2 Burley Men were exceptional! We are so grateful for the hard working team which included Tristan, Ainsworth and Barry they were so friendly. We really appreciated the great care they took of our furniture and carefully wrapping everything and moving it in to our new home. I would recommend this team to anyone who has a small or big move ahead. They say moving day is one of the most stressful days but my husband and I were all smiles and stress free. Thanks again gentlemen.
I’ve used 2Burley before with good fast results, overall very satisfied with the speed and quality, however sometimes the guys seemed to ignore risks and in their haste were rolling my winter wheels down the ramp. If they wanted to risk scraping very expensive rims on the concrete driveway that’s the way to do it. Ok verbally though they took care when it mattered the most.
They were 9.5hrs late for my move. Charged me 1hr travel on top of the move cost which was not mentioned at all. When I called to ask about the extra charge the manager said I should "pay for the services" I said I'm happy to pay for the work they did but not for something that I didn't know about. I asked her to put herself in my shoes and ask what would she do if the company was over 9 hrs late her response. " That's an unfair question, we have different personalities". I have told my realtor and anyone else who may be planning a move to not use this company!
2 Burley Men offered a very professional service for my move from Calgary to Vancouver. They arrived on time and were very friendly. They provided updates on arrival time and were very helpful getting my stuff up to the apartment. I would recommend this service if you are looking for something quite economical.
I would like more stars! We hired 2 Burley Men to move all my parents furniture and possessions from Calgary to White Rock British Columbia. They were spectacular in every respect and it is greatly appreciated, especially when trying to move from one place to another and have everything packed and moved during Covid restrictions when we could not be on site. They were incredibly organized, very thorough, packed carefully and were very quick and thorough. I will never consider moving things "on our own" again. Unbelieveable value. We had Steve and Donovan, from the Edmonton office. The staff at the facility we were coming from were very impressed as was everyone at this end. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
Collin and Richard did such an amazing job helping me with my move. I recommend 2 Burley Men Moving Company. My move was care-free and easy going, what it should be.
I have been using 2 burley men for my moves regularly over the last 5 years. Shane and Ainsworth did my most recent move and they were fantastic. Very professional, great sense of humour and excellent care and attention. Nice to see this company hiring top personalities and muscle to get the job done.
This is the second time we have used 2 Burley Men…one for a move a select pieces of furniture from Nanoose Bay to Calgary (Nov/20) and today for an internal move of select pieces of furniture. Both times the men who came were very pleasant, careful, and professional. I’ll highly recommend your company to anyone I know who is moving - you hire & train super people!
Paul Q and Ainsworth did a great job moving us from the Vancouver area to Vancouver Island. They arrived on time with plenty of equipment, and worked quickly and efficiently. They were careful with our items and with not damaging walls when they moved. Our stuff arrived to our new home in great condition. I would definitely use them again!
They saved us last minute when our initial booking with another company fell through. Communication was great and the movers were punctual, friendly and so quick!! I can't thank them enough for helping our small load move on such short notice! A++ service
The guys worked hard and were careful enough, but had a problem with the scaling. The bill arrived a full 2500lbs (4500lbs) over what the actual weight was (2000lbs) so wasn't happy to see a nearly $4k bill when it should have been around $1500 for a move from Calgary to Kelowna. I said no, I wasn't going to pay that, so the guy told me they'd rescale it but I'd have to repay for scaling if I was wrong. So they rescale and it comes in at 2000lbs (not 4500), a full $2000 less than they were attempting to bill me. That's a pretty big margin of error, guys. Door to door was just over 2 weeks, which I tolerated because I wasn't in a rush to get my stuff, but I still ended up having to make repeated calls to find out what the status of my stuff was. I understand people make mistakes, and had the company just knocked off a couple hundred bucks or something for the inconvenience, I'd of said nothing, but it was la-dee-da business as usual, sorry for almost ripping you off for an extra 2 grand, please come again. Yes, people make mistakes, but own up to them. Since 2BM never even attempted compensate me for the disasterous billing and 2 week delivery snafu, I can't recommend their service. Make sure you know the approximate weight of your things!
We had no choice but to move during the pandemic and many moving companies were closed. This company sent two hard working, courteous men to Sooke BC who came prepared to do a job effectively while taking precautions and maintaining social distances from us and our neighbors! I highly recommend hiring this company for your move!! Thank you ????????
Shady practices. Moved a while ago from Edmonton to Vancouver. Not much that I can do now about it. This is more of a buyers beware for people who consider using this service. A few pieces of my furniture are tempered glass. Movers came and loaded everything. One of them then offered additional insurance for the furniture. I agreed to it. Note that he had me sign a form outside in the dark with no light or no time to read, as they were rushing to get out on the road. Furniture ends up in Vancouver, gets transferred to a smaller truck. Either somewhere in transfer or upon delivery (watched one of the guys carry a very heavy coffee table alone and smack it into the lobby threshold) a glass piece gets damaged. I unwrap the coffee table, document the damage (really bad chip on the corner) and submit a claim. Movers leave in a rush again. I then go on to unwrap the rest of the furniture and find some more damage to a wooden piece. Submit that as a claim as well. Both claims get denied. Glass piece is denied because the extended coverage (or any of their coverage for that matter) does not cover glass or concrete furniture. Wooden piece claim is denied because they don't know if the damage was done by me when I was unpacking it. Lessons to learn from here: - Movers will push the extra coverage, full well knowing that your furniture is not going to be covered by it. - Make the movers stay and unwrap all the valuables in front of them, so they will document the damage together with you. I get it, accidents happen, and I wish I could have read the form I was signing for extended coverage before the company representative made off with his copy. I have seen zero effort from the company to mitigate the situation in any way. I have not made the effort to dispute or go any further as I had my signature under a disclaimer saying that the glass is not covered. Damage occurred while the furniture was in their custody and they made no effort to disclose that the glass furniture is not covered by ANY of their insurance prior to commencing the move. The company representatives were made fully aware what they were moving. All of the furniture was very well wrapped prior to their arrival with bubble wrap and blankets. Coffee table is made of a single curved piece of 10 mm thick tempered glass and is not repairable ($500 value). I hope this write up helps someone to make up their mind about using this moving company. Edit: 2 Burley Men have replied, denied shady practices and referred to terms and conditions. What people need to know is that you end up in a position where you entrust your possessions into their care, they damage them and you have zero recourse to recover your damages. If you have any furniture made with glass elements, concrete, plaster, or other fragile materials, and also items such as mirrors and bookshelves, they can smash them in front of you and deny you any compensation. I highly advise anyone considering using the service to consider this review as a warning.
I have had some horrible moving experiences but my move today with Owen and DJ from the Esquimalt location was not stressful at all. They were very friendly and took good care of my stuff. I would definitely recommend to others and would use their company again ????
Kenny & Daily were on time, fast, and professional. A very quick, easy, stress-free move!
They were excellent when I moved into a suite about 6 months ago and I would have happily referred them to others, but the move out of the suite 3 weeks ago was the polar opposite experience. - They showed up in Langford with a truck with no ramp and had to go back to Esquimalt for another truck, resulting in a 2 hour delay. - One mover was was visibly sick (puking on my neighbor's lawn) and the other eventually started badly limping due to a knee problem. They were going SLOW. My previous move took 4.75 hrs total, they took 5 hours just to load the truck. Total move time was 9.25 hrs, which is almost double the same move 6 months earlier. - At the new house with a gravel driveway, they dropped and dragged my mattress on the ground, then dragged it up the stairs getting dirt all over the walls in a brand new house. - They refused to move my bed frame base into the new house unless it was completely disassembled and just left it in the garage. I moved it upstairs the next day without disassembly no problem. - They were running hand trucks from outside to inside without using pads on brand new floors. I contacted the office while the move was underway to ask if they could relieve the two movers that were clearly struggling to get the job done, but nobody else was available and the advice from the person on the phone was to allow the move to complete and we will deal with the issues after. After the fact, I requested that they reduce the price to match my previous move and clean the walls in my new house. It took 3 weeks of trying to get a response from their customer service person and this was the (non) response: “Morning *****, Spoke with head office who reviewed the recent move and advised that due to the volume the billing is correct and well within industry standards. Regards *******” In summary, if they think what happened is ok and well within industry standards, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for movers.
This is my 3rd time using 2Burley Men, they were excellent the first 2 times but this time they scratched the 2 corners of the table they moved for me and left mud on the beige carpet in my stairs. The work they do is hard but they need to be more professional.
They did a cross province move for us. Prompt, on time, easy to work with. No hidden costs, everything was laid out beforehand and I got exactly what I paid for. Awesome job guys!
This may have been one of the best business experiences I've ever had. When I first called, I spoke directly with Scott Burley. He was incredibly friendly and polite. He answered all my questions and booked me in. I was told that I would hear from the movers a day or two before our pickup date. A day before our pickup, the team contacted me. Our team members were Ken and Kyle. They were absolutely awesome! We had a lot of packing done beforehand, but they disassembled our beds and other furniture, while we boxed up the last of our items. They were friendly and talkative while helping us move, but didn't stop working, other than to drink water and to eat enough snacks to keep them going. Before they left we had a copy of their pre-pickup weight. After they left and drove to the weigh scale, they sent us a picture of the receipt with our cargo weight attached. Three days later, they showed up at our new house, in a new province. After we payed our bill, they unloaded our furniture into the appropriate rooms, and helped set some of it up. There was only one small broken item... a tall plastic speaker that was held together by one screw. Other than that, everything showed up as well as it left. I would recommend 2 Burley Men to anybody. At a moving cost of .95 cents a pound, it's absolutely worth every penny you'll spend. It made our move easy and as enjoyable as moving between provinces can be. Definitely thankful for the work they did, and thankful that Ken and Kyle were able to work as well as they did, and as carefully as they did. 6 stars.
Delayed move due to truck issues. (We understand that this can happen but it was prolonged and little to nothing for information was provided about anything and only when we were able to reach them - their communication skills are lacking) Broken furniture. Missing items. No response when contacted. Attitude from the owner. The crew that delivered our contents were awesome, however, they did not seem to worried that items were broken. Comments made about how it doesn't cost them anything....claim it. We would not recommend them, nor will we use them again. To reply to your response. There will not be a next time. However, your company can still make this move better.
Mike and Lou were amazing!! They were very speedy but extremely careful. They both worked very hard and were great. When they arrived they introduced themselves. We would definitely recommend 2 Burley Men to all who are planning a move. Thanks again guys for a job Well done!
Mark and Kevin are absolutely incredible! They were efficient and also very personable, which made our move easy. Highly recommend.
2 Burley Thieves... Very unresponsive and unreliable service. They split up our load and the second load was missing in action until I was able to figure out it was being held up in Langley. They mysteriously misplaced the scale ticket for the second load, which was marked as being twice as heavy as the first load despite clearly being lighter than the first. Also misplaced some items... Such a corrupt business, I wish I had just rented a u-haul and I encourage all that are reading this to do the same!!! Better Business Bureau anyone? Worst company ever.
Great moving experience (just like my previous experience with 2 Burley Men). Local move was very easy and straight forward.
We had to move a small office from one area in Victoria to another. The two guys that came were kind, professional and did the job well. Very careful with all items. Great company!
On September 17 and 18, your company helped us move in town. I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for the great service we received on the Friday. Three young men showed up that morning, doing push ups in the driveway, and smiling. I wish I remembered their names, but I don't. The day was less than ideal - we had A LOT of stuff, some that didn't fit through doorways, the skies opened and rained, and the moving truck got stuck at the base of our new, rather long driveway. Despite all that, these men were totally professional and positive. They were problem solvers, and got the job done despite the difficulties and challenges. They disassembled furniture and appliances, and reassembled at the new house! They never took shortcuts or the easy way out. They were always smiling, always working, and were just awesome all around. They deserve a big pat on the back, and a big thank you from us!
The movers held our belongings for ransom until we paid them an extra $1,000. The movers said that we were lucky to be getting a good deal but we were overweight by 300lbs. The company will not return our calls or emails. Almost every piece of furniture was damaged as well.
Thank you 2 Burley Men moving! I had an incredible experience with you from the first phone call to the last box being placed in my house. Everyone was incredibly helpful and I will absolutely recommend you to anyone that is looking for a moving company. You made what could have been a really challenging move for me, effortless! Thank you!
2 Burley Men is a great company to hire for your moving needs. Jacob the coordinator was quick to respond, answered every question and phone call, and sent another mover an hour into the move when I asked for it. They worked hard, got the job done, and were pleasant through the process. Only thing I could knock them for was a quote that was significantly under what I expected which turned out to be low. That’s ok though. I paid the amount I expected and the value was definitely there. I should point out I’ve moved a few times in the last few years and this was the best experience. Thanks guys! Brendan
We have been very active moving ourselves and family members over the past ten years. We have hired 2 Burley Men seven times and have never been disappointed. Their operation is efficient, punctual, fair and the teams they send are very polite and careful with one’s possessions. We will continue to hire 2 Burley Men every time we need to move or support family members to move.
Dale and Thane were professional, friendly, and quick. Office support was very good as well. All communication was timely and clear. I highly recommend 2 Burley Men, and would definitely work with them again.
Their reputation precedes them. Seems sometimes they do a decent job and sometimes abysmal. Entirely not worth the risk to go with them
I recently bought furniture and had Burley Men deliver and they did deliver magnificently. On time, with no dents or scratches. They gave me a 10% seniors discount.
Thank you guys you were amazing!!!! I have never moved with any container before, and I’m glad a friend recommended 2 Burley Men. They were experienced, courteous, professional, fast and answered all my questions (and believe me I had a lot of them) and they were very patient with me. They would also give me suggestions to save space and how to stack my boxes so they wouldn’t collapse in transit. I will DEFINITELY call 2 Burley Men for any move I have to do.
These extremely punctual and worked hard for us. Slightly disappointed that one mover was doing pushups in-between moving items...it kinda feels like personal exercise could have been done another time. They were quite efficient. Most of our items were moved intact. Unfortunately, a mover did break an ironing board, and another moved a couch solo, which ended up being dropped into a doorframe. The damage to the trim certainly can be fixed with a bit of paint. Other than that, this team was great! I would recommend this company 100%.
Best money I’ve spent in a while. Professional, incredibly efficient. Felt like we were in great hands. Couldn’t believe how fast they packed and unpacked us, and all so carefully and respectfully. Great experience.
Had a pleasant Victoria moving experience with these guys, showed up on time, let me ride with them to the new house, quick, courteous and no hassle!
I just want to add to my original post that someone in the company did get back to me and apologize. These guys were probably doing over overtime and very very tired. Been also a hands-on person I can relate to this. Who is the company has got the message anymore relate to their hands on guys please be quiet when you’re doing a midnight blueWe did not hire this company but we got to know them while NOT wanting to early this morning. On the1300 block of Harwood St. / Vancouver at 12:30 AM until 2:30 AM this outfit was doing a move !! The guys were very tired. In some ways I have to give these people much credit that they were willing and able to accommodate their customer into midnight move. If I ever need a midnight move I will know who to go to ! Having great discussions between themselves. Nice and loud so that they could hear each other well. As well as the rest of us that were sleeping until they arrived!Parked in the middle of the street. These guys took no care, banging their equipment onto the pavement dragging things making sure they made the last big noise before they left slamming in the ramp. You guys need to get a reality check. The degree of inconsiderate behaviour is beyond comprehension. You deserve a Minus star rating. I am sorry that I have to do this. I really don’t like giving bad reviews. But I am still very grumpy from not getting my sleep for no good reason. A little consideration goes a long way.
I had to move my mother into a retirement home. The guys turned up early and had everything wrapped and loaded in 45 minutes. Move was from Duncan to Victoria. They arrived in Victoria 10 minutes after I arrived and unloaded in 30 minutes. Very polite and respectful of the elderly residents. This was a truly smooth mm I've. Highly recommend.
We were very happy with how Adam and Hubba packed and wrapped our items..several being antiques. I highly recommend 2 Burley Men and will use them again. I would prefer more communication (using texting) though but we were very impressed and they were able to move our huge couch effortlessly even though our last movers from another company banged the walls. Thanks again.
They were very quick at giving me my estimates and the movers were super friendly. I felt really comfortable with them. I definitely recommend 2 burley men for anyone looking for an affordable and friendly moving company.
Took great care to move pieces on a purchase time to move it without damaging it, and yet on time. Courteous business manner, highly recommended.
The movers were great, they came on time and I was very happy with their work. However the quote I was given was about $700 less than the actual price. The reason I was given was since I was moving to one of the gulf islands it was going to …
My move was a disaster! They showed up two hours late with no apology, they did not wear masks, they damaged beyond repair many pieces of my furniture, they took 8 hours to move 1400sqft across town, one of the movers just up and left at 5:00 pm leaving one mover to finish the job. The floors in my new home got severely scratched in several places. The remaining mover would not leave the premises unless the bill was paid in full although I was very unsatisfied. They left furniture pieces wrapped in plastic so that I didn’t notice a lot of the damage until the following day. I complained to the company and did not receive a reply. Do not use these movers if you value your possessions!
A HUGE thanks to Mark S., Paul Q. and Juan from 2 Burley Men Moving Ltd. for coming to our rescue after we were abandoned by another company. It wasn't a typical move, we were swapping places with my son from the upstairs suite to the basement suite and vice versa, so there wasn't the usual empty space to move into. They did an amazing job, They made plan, having to move many things twice, and got the job done quickly and efficiently. Thanks again guys! We couldn't be happier.
Verbally booked a moving date over the phone. Come moving day no one arrived. Called to inquire, was told they didn’t have me booked in at all. Was not told to expect a confirmation email and no confirmation phone call was provided. I didn’t follow up because I had booked and confirmed on the phone call. No solutions were offered. I was left scrambling to find a different moving company last minute.
We had a wonderful experience with two burly men. The movers were friendly, helpful and did their job with a smile. They were efficient as well! Would highly recommend! Thanks so much, our moving experience couldn't have been better.
Very professional and reliable. I had some bad experiences in the past with moving company, 2 Burley Men is the best from far. Thanks to Shane, Dustin and Paul for the great work!
Awful awful and again awful. If you want your stuff smashed ruined and no good and only offer you a couple hundred dollars to fix everything.. then this is the place. Excited to see others bring yall to small claims court as you obviously have no buisness morals whatsoever.
Moved us from our home into a storage unit. Great experience all around. It was a very hot day but they worked a solid 10 hours without complaint. Patrick, Steve and Andrew were awesome. Highly recommend them.
Excellent experience! Will use again!
Andrew and Marcus showed up early with a good attitude, were professional and courteous, and got everything done in a timely fashion. Those guys were great and I had a good experience with the company.
Be Warned as most reviews here are fake or paid for by the company. Check them out on BBB because this company needs to be shut down for their practises and scams. I Hired 2 Burley Men for my move from the island and the mainland. To start they were not responsive about the time they would set for pickup, they wouldn't let us know the time they were coming until the actual day of the move, which made it nearly impossible to co ordinate things and resulted in a lot of stress for us. The movers cram all of your things into the smallest space possible, upon opening the truck I was very disturbed to see how they had crammed everything in there. They put my 1970s record player ON ITS BACK, which broke it immediately and resulted in the loss of a very expensive vintage item I will never be able to replace. The belt was hanging out of it when it got here and pieces had fallen off because of the way they sent it. When I saw how they had it in the truck I started crying, I couldn't believe someone would stuff an item like that in on its side without any care at all. I asked the movers to pack up any items they thought needed to be packed up or covered and said I would pay for it, I just wanted my things here safe. My things were not safe. I had two brand new pieces of furniture that were spotless when I shipped them and they arrived covered with scratches and chipped paint. The movers do not cover anything in protective blankets or exercise any care to not damage your furniture. They cram it in and what you get is what you get. They also broke my book shelf, but because of their "policy" about particle board, they will not reimburse me for anything they have destroyed. Most furniture these days is made of particle board and if you can't move peoples things without destroying them then maybe you should get another job. People trust you with their things and when you treat them like this you are being extremely disrespectful and show to be very untrustworthy. The movers themselves were nice young men but the lack of care shown to my items was very obvious and I would never recommend anyone put themselves through the heartache of dealing with a company that cares this little about bringing you your items in tact. DO NOT SHIP WITH THEM IF YOU CARE ABOUT ANY OF YOUR FURNITURE, IF YOU ARE ON A DEADLINE, OR IF YOU EXPECT PROFESSIONALISM.
The two guys who unloaded our U-Haul were very professional as well as being very fast. They unloaded the entire 26 foot long truck in two hours. I would recommend this company.
Broken furniture items movers didn't seem too concerned about. They did nothing to help. Damaged items left in movers blanket taped up for me to deal with. Speakers damaged. Items left in plastic wrap for customers to deal with. Customers are expected to reassemble furniture. Movers seemed in a hurry to get to the next job.
Total waste of time and money, they may as well have loaned me the truck and let me do it myself. Not moving related but as an aside, one of the 2 movers wasn't wearing a mask the entire time and informed me he was not getting a vaccine cause he didn't believe in it. Extremely unprofessional. To make matters worse, I was in six foot distance of this guy the entire time moving my own stuff while his brand new partner sat in the truck strapping my stuff in extremely poorly, filling a 5 ton with what should have fit into a 1 ton. Every single heavy item in my suite I moved myself with one of the movers, completely defeating the point of hiring two movers. When we reached the destination, things switched and the experienced guy unstrapped everything and me and the newbie had to unload. This involved him failing to fit 3 separate items into the elevator, stating they are too big. I'd ask him to try another way and he didn't seem to grasp the concept. I then tried to take these items up the stairs, where they wouldn't fit. They informed me that it just "couldn't fit sorry man". I spoke to the experienced, mask-less mover and said your buddy has no idea how to load, please try again in the elevator. Low and behold, every god damn item went into the elevator just fine. Because it was myself having to run up and down and help the new kid unload, most of the time there was nobody in the new apartment to direct where to place things. This has caused an apartment FULL OF HEAVY STUFF all having to be moved again and rearranged by myself now. I can't stress enough how horrible this move was, they mentioned they "work for tips" like five times during the move (ok I get it buddy), it was just overall a total waste of time and money. I could have done everything by renting a 1 ton U-Haul for a third of the price and getting my brother to help me. DO NOT HIRE 2 BURLEY MEN aka one Burley man and one new kid who doesn't know how to move things. Also, I almost forgot, they were scheduled for 130 and called me at 1130 asking if I was ready. Uhh no not really, do you want to start now? "Yeah we're done our other stuff we'd like to start so we can finish" very cool I guess we'll go by your schedule and the time I've arranged specifically means nothing! :)
Great friendly service at a really good price. I'll definitely be using them again!
Great experience! My movers called about 10 minutes before they arrived, they were on time, very friendly, and very quick. I would recommend them to friends and will contact them for my next move.
We recently moved to Victoria with all of our belongings and hired 2 Burly Men Moving to unload the truck into a storage facility until we rent an apartment. The 2 men arrived at the storage bin and in 3 hours had unloaded the 26 foot long U-haul truck into the bin taking very good care of everything. My wife and I were very pleased with their professional manner and the speed at which they worked. I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing moving assistance.
Dale and Santiago arrived right on time and introduced themselves and were wearing masks as per COVID protocols. They were polite and clearly explained the paperwork etc. They were efficient and careful. Once they arrived at the new place they seemed to forget about the masks which I didn’t even realize until later. We also had a TELUS. Install arrive early and we had to ask them to pull the truck forward to allow access and although he was very polite to me the driver was incredibly rude and hostile verbally to the TELUS rep which was not called for. Other than this unfortunate incident however the move went smoothly and quickly - we were done in 4.5 hours. Everything was well looked after. And good value.
Worst moving experience. No care or attention to detail. Worse than poor communication. Most items arrived damaged to some degree, second load arrived ten days late. We were warned not to use this company and thought “how bad could it be?” Don’t do it. Just don’t.
As an Apt. Building assistant manager. We tell people frequently DO NOT use these clowns.. Here it is 11 pm at night. and Two Burly Clowns are making HUGE amounts of noise, keeping elderly residents awake. They were suppose to be here 11 am this morning. Instead they gave the people they are moving, Some "Bull load" that they were delayed..
I have moved 3 times and this most recent move to Calgary from the Island was the smoothest and least stressful I've ever had! Nigel was absolutely incredible and so easy to deal with! The communication was on point and I was always kept up to date with the progress and timing of everything! Everything was labelled and tagged properly so when we arrived in our new home it was so easy to find everything and put it away! This was the first time I've ever enjoyed the actual experience of moving and it's all thanks to Nigel and the 2 Burley Men! Thanks again for everything!!!
Was a wonderful experience moving Thanks so much!!!
Unfortunately based on my experience I cannot recommend 2 Burley Men. The booking process went smoothly and I appreciated the reminder email the day before however, the moving day did not go well. The movers were nearly two hours late and it took 6 calls from me to find out if or when they were coming. When they arrived I suspect they were under the influence. They were clumsy with our items, dropping stacks of boxes on two occasions and disregarding anything with fragile written on it. They also received a parking ticket that we had to pay because we didn't tell them to put money in the meter. One positive is the move did go quickly. Overall 2 Burley Men tarnished what should have been a happy day moving into our first home.
Wow! What a great company and great experience. Absolutely easy to deal with. I was a little anxious because we were moving from the mainland to the island but everything was like clockwork! Confirmed ahead of time, were absolutely on time to start, estimates of how long it would take and how much it would cost we’re right on. And the fellows were articulate, careful and quick workers. I highly recommend this company!
Great service, the guys did an excellent job carefully moving my furniture. I give 4 stars instead of 5 because they did not use masks when coming within my 6 foot bubble to deal with the paperwork.
Very good service. They did exactly what they promised me! Thank you to the 3 lads that helped move the Fitzner 7!
I was moving from Victoria to Duncan and the guys were awesome. Super quick, friendly and efficient. Keith and Paul were helping me move and got it all done without any issues. They also stopped at a furniture store and picked up my order which was extremely helpful and saved me another delivery trip. The whole process was easy and non stressful. Would highly recommend this company to anyone whose moving! :)
Professional & efficient! Adam L & Will R securely wrapped our furniture and delivered it on time. They carried it up our steep driveway, put down mats to protect the carpet and were so friendly. Great service and I recommend them. We’d hire them again!
I did 2 interprovincial moves with 2 Burley Men. Pros: Efficient, professional, hardworking, affordable. Cons: Lacking in communication... Given a 2 day loading window, received no further update/confirmation on when they were coming until same day of loading. (And the day *after* loading, got a call from another truck saying they were coming to load!) Told me they would call me with the weight as soon as they got to the scale, never did. Told me they would call when crossing into BC, never did. They finally called the night before delivery, told me of their numerous itinerary changes that were never communicated, and said they would call tomorrow when they got off the ferry, but never did. Summary: Please have your drivers give more updates, they promised the right things but didn’t follow through. It would make arranging everything else around the move so much easier, not just hotels but also things to help the movers like getting elevator keys for the correct day.
Highly recommend. Tom and William were great guys and moved us quickly and efficiently. The quote for the move was spot on
Choose any other moving service. 2 broken dressers, broken mirror (all wrapped by 2bg), 2 pictures, stools, Rubbermaid storage box completely destroyed and our things repacked into boxes, missing items and someone else’s items? Everything was filthy, dusty and water damaged after being moved and stored by 2 Burley Guys. They stopped moving things into the house halfway and piled it all into the garage leaving my husband and I to move our boxes up the stairs. Their communication lacked professionalism and required multiple phone calls to find out when we would be receiving our items. They finally delivered 4 days later than expected. When expressed disappointment of delivery date was told “to hire someone else to come and get it then”. Save yourself the stress and the money and hire any other company.
Absolutely fantastic service from both Donnie and Jay from pickup to the final delivery. Class act guys and completely professional.
This is the worst company I have ever seen. If I could have charged them criminally, I would. They threatened to unload my stuff and leave it on the side walk and I could deal with it myself. I was completely threatened, bullied, yelled at, and had so many broken pictures and dishes.
Amazing work done by the cleaning staff through Big Burley men. They were super sweet, efficient, did an incredible job and were available at the last minute. So impressed with their services. And the cost was far lower than we expected! Will definitely use their services again and again. Thanks so much!
Had a pretty bad experience with this company and would not recommend: - Team was very slow. - They missed two ferry times that they were aiming for and made me pay for the time that they waited for the third ferry. - All of our furniture had bumps and scratches. - The truck that they moved our stuff in was filthy and anything that was not closed in a box or wrapped was full of dust. - Destroyed our plants. - Didn't reassemble our bed properly after unloading, we have to fix it ourselves in the middle of the night. Ended up charging me $1100 more than quoted. Avoid this company and if you're in Vancouver rather use Guys & Dollies Moving Co. - I wish I'd used them again this time around.
Richard and Troy gave us exceptional service. They arrived on time and worked hard all day. There was no damage to anything and nothing was lost. Thank you.
AWFUL experience. Rude, dismissive, and sarcastic from the top-down. The owner hung up on us when we were trying to discuss our problems with the move. They did not send a big enough truck, even though when they arrived the movers surveyed our house and said it was fine. They had to leave behind a lot of our things (in a house we no longer lived in), and collect them later. They said our things would be delivered the next day on a long-haul. Three days later when the truck arrived, they refused to unload until we paid for a "second move". We refused. They said they would sue us for not paying. They blamed us for having too many things and said we should have known the truck wasn't big enough when it arrived. We spoke to 3-4 people at this company and none of them took any responsibility or even treated us like humans and decent people. They lost some of our furniture and said they would find it and deliver it. We haven't heard from them since. They are not returning our messages or answering our calls. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!
If you are lucky enough to have Leighton and /or Shane as your movers, you'll be in good hands! They made our move fast and easy.
Very professional work. Jesse was thoughtful and efficient. My piano was safely moved downstairs.
2 Burley Men showed their commitment to the community by supporting the farewell party to the old Blue Bridge/Welcoming of the new Blue Bridge! Their support helped make this amazing celebration of history in our Victoria happen!
I inquired about a quote for my move across Edmonton to my new place, and it was a reasonable price. The person on the phone was quite professional and helpful about their services offered. Moving day two young guys show up, move even my heavy boxes of books and pretty solid furniture with ease. Haven't found anything broken! Even my fragiles were handled gently. I'd reccomend this company to anybody with no way to move by themselves
It was a good experience as this company was the only one able to move our condo in one day only...process was reasonable...price was reasonable...no complaints overall!!!
I honestly cannot say enough good things about my experience with this business. I had to do a move with less than 24 hours notice and was given a more than fair quote for the cost of the move. Other companies I spoke to were attempting to take advantage of the situation and overcharge but not this one! I personally dealt with Malice and his driver they were incredible at their work and made everything go by super smooth. It was definitely a bigger move than they thought they would be doing but they didn’t complain at all instead they kept things light and we had a few laughs as well. Thank you Malice you were awesome to deal with man you made things way less stressful than they should’ve been. Please people if you are going to do a move use this business you will be getting a fair price, great work, and dealing with great people. Thank you Two Burley Men for the incredible job you did.
2 Burley Men did a small move for us and I have to applaud them for their attention to detail and cleanliness. They used runners to protect our carpets and were very polite and professional. I was also pleasantly pleased by their charges - very good value for the service they provide. I would definitely recommend them.
TRUSTWORTHY, EXCELLENT SERVICE AND A GREAT PRICE!! Many thanks to Scott Burley, Earl, Josh Williams, Alexander Keith (yes, his Great Grandad brewed that beer) and James Bridgman!! What a GREAT TEAM of men who helped me move from Edmonton to Vancouver Island! This team helped reassure me through the stress of the move and made sure all went well! I am truly grateful! I highly recommend 2 Burley Men Moving Ltd.!!
Terrible experience. Most of my things were broken when they arrived. They didn’t disassemble my furnitures as they should of and didn’t want to reassemble upon arrival. I paid for the full service with packing. They arrived 4-5 days later than expected and couldn’t get ahold of them for a week before arrival, I had no idea where my stuff was. I was out of town when they finally arrived and charged me extra to unload and reload the truck. Do not move with them!
Do not use this company. The worst experience we’ve ever had with a business. Check out the better business bureau.
Love this company, not only on time, but less than quoted! Very courteous and professional. They we’re moving an oversized fridge for us. They completely wrapped the appliance and even put drop sheets down to protect the floors. We will definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone in a heart beat.
William and Cody were fantastic! They had a huge job moving us from BC to AB but they were happy, positive and did such a great job! We ended up not having enough room in the truck for everything as we completely underestimated our load but that was our fault. William reassured me it would be picked up on the next truck which was totally fine! Great company I would highly recommend them! Thank you again for helping us move home :)
BEWARE**** if i could give these guys no stars or negative trust me they would get that!!!! i have hired this company to re locate my family to another province, 95% of everything moved by them has damage! 20% was completely broken and tossed i contacted this company via email, I was responded to and passed along Scotts information. Called and set up a move on the phone to move from Calgary to Sooke. He had a truck in the area and could pick up on Sunday March 11th said delivery for March 14th. i met his men on sunday for noon, they were a few minutes late and they showed up in a uhaul... seemed odd to me but his men explained it was due to vehicle trouble! okay fair enough, so at that point i was also notified they would be re loading my things into their own truck once it was fixed! during the unloading of my storage containers they did point out a few things to me that i already had damage which came from my home that way. i was thankful of this showing quality of service and pride in their work. i watched as they unloaded everything and re loaded it up. i also came with two large boxes to putt odds and ends into that were smaller to move like decor and outdoor lanterns, my husbands fishing rods ect. i was told not to worry and he would wrap it all! i watched him wrap it with care, EVERY single one of those things showed up to our new place completely broken! had to throw them out! they left with our home packed away and never made contact on their end at all!!! telling us they would be delayed a few days and even on the day they said they would finally make it the THURSDAY!! they didn't call to tell my husband they would be a few hours late!! the guys unloaded and told my husband of some broken things to take photos of as they have insurance for coverage. well he did and contacted scott again only to be told they don't offer coverage as our stuff was in a storage container!! my husband confused said oh okay.. called me for confirmation. this was never told to me on our phone call! and also we had things broken by them that never even went into the container! they are also claiming we signed off on everything but you actually have to sign off on their paper work even before they un load the truck!!! what a crock! my husband was the only one here to see what was damaged once he started to un pack. i was still in calgary. i have spent the last two days trying to set up my home with everything being scratched or damaged. we had to do two dump runs with ruined furniture!!! and what we do have also is covered in black sticky gross stuff! my heart is broken by this ordeal! i trusted people who seemed kind and who cared about their business. i was so very very wrong. and everything we have worked so hard for was ruined. and the move was made to be even more stressful then it should have been. i also had a family member make contact with these guys and their response was we were liars, the storage company ruined everything and they have photos. so my question really is.... when did you take photos? why were we not notified? did they take these after unloading and re loading the other truck? because again stuill they are at fault for this. i sat and watched his men unload and re load everything! i was called over to have things pointed out to me! list of things that had to get tossed: dresser smart TV fishing rods statue picture frames wood wall signs shelves x5 outdoor lanterns things with damage: chairs, desk, shelves, crib, trunk, tv stand, dyson vacuum, picture frames, wood wall pictures, lamp shades, candles and large holders vintage childs horse, entry table, mirrors, trolly ect please ignore my grammar and spelling as I got very heated while writing this after they threaten to have the " legal team" contact me. - Melissa
I want to give a Shout Out to Geoffry and Billy from 2 Burley Men! I needed some furniture moved around my house and they came to my rescue! They were very polite, super efficient and showed up right on time. I was very pleased with the service they provided. I would give them an EXCELLENT rating!
Precessional, speedy, great bunch of guys, very competitive pricing. We would use them again on then next move for certain.
POOR. UNPROFESSIONAL. UNORGANIZED. The above words are not enough to express how bad my moving experience was with this company. Any first time movers out there, save yourself a headache and go with a professional moving company.
I have moved a lot and I can say without a doubt that I had the best crew. I am very pleased with how things went and amazed at how hard these guys worked and how careful they were with my things. Thanks so much!!
The moving company didnt show up for a scheduled move. They did not call to say they werent coming. We called to find out what was going on and they did not phone back as promised. It took a few heated calls before they found someone to come late in the afternoon. I have to give the two workers who came huge credit as they worked very hard until 8pm at night. We were supposed to be out of the house by noon. I understand that there were extenuating circumstances......a heat wave with workers not showing up. What is unacceptable is not being notified and ignored.
Highly recommend these guys. We used this company to move in our new business location. It took two 26ft trucks. Joel Jack and Mark were wonderful. There was a fourth guy but I forgot his name. All of them took great care with our items and ensuring there safe arrival. I felt the price was fare and the overall service fantastic. Thanks guys ????
Not a great experience, to say the least. When booking, I specifically mentioned that the headboard would need to be removed from my bed in order to move it. The movers showed up with no tools in hand, and spent 30+ minutes trying to remove …
The movers (Paul and Wendell) provided excellent service. They were punctual, friendly, polite and hard-working. They worked quickly and carefully and did not complain about shifting pieces from spot to spot. Thank you for making the move as comfortable as possible.
The guys came on time to move some very heavy leather sofas etc across town. They were very personable and friendly not to mention, efficient. I highly recommend this company to anyone. Thanks Dale, Paul and Zack. You're awesome!
Arrived on time. Worked fast and efficiently. Had no damage to anything. I was very pleased with how the move went.
Terrible experience dealing with the movers. They showed up intoxicated and took half day to move my items. Save yourself the peace of mind and avoid the frustration and go with some other professional movers.
Excellent service! I had a last minute move and they called me to help work out an ASAP date. They arrived on time, smiling and friendly. My items were moved quickly and with great care. The pricing was very affordable and the movers were marvellously kind and patient; this was especially important as my elderly mother was with me to witness her delicate items being moved I enthusiastically recommend 2 Burley Men
THREE very courteous and strong men showed up and treated all of our possessions with care. Every item was carefully wrapped in blankets and shrink-wrapped and could easily have been shipped overseas with that level of care. (we just moved across town!). Every item was carefully placed where we wanted it, and checked to make sure that there was no damage. We've moved many times, and this was our best experience ever! Thank you! We highly recommend this company
My Brother had a stroke (he lives in Victoria, I live in eastern Ontario). I flew to Victoria to pack up all his belongings however the doctors told me to hold onto his apartment to incase he would be able to return home. He wasn’t so I had to get a company to take care of the moving or fly back to Victoria. Expecting that he would not be able to return to his apartment I had already gotten rid of most of his contents and put a chunk of them in storage. The rest were either going to goto goodwill or the dump. I sent 2 Burly men pictures of the contents of his apartment, the representative (Layton) told me it should take only a couple of hours. He asked if I wanted the contents to goto goodwill or the dump, I replied whatever is going to be most cost effective. He said the goodwill is only 5 min away from the dump so they could do both. It was double the amount of time that they quoted me. The thing that makes me so upset is this is typical and excepted. You would hope that if someone said a job was going to cost X and it was double X that there would be some sort of compromise to dissuade companies from quoting one number to get your business and then charging you double. But hey here we are. Nice work guys.
This company is AWFUL !!! The 2 guys that showed up we’re fighting the whole time. (Not the energy I needed as I was Going through a break up ) Wasting time making the time they spent moving more expensive. They then through my things into my storage unit with no organization . Breaking my shelving unit because they placed it under the sliding door to the storage unit !!! When I called to ask if I could at least get someone to come and help reorganize they wanted to charge me another $150 an hour . And on top of that they claimed they took the credit card number wrong but went through on my end and then threatened to take legal action!!!!! Do not move your precious home with this company !!!
I had a fantastic experience working with the crew of Mark S. and Kevin S. The guys were super friendly, polite and professional: they arrived in time, moved all my belongings very fast and were careful with the furniture and all the fragile items. I would definitely hire them again as well as recommend to friends!
We just moved a week ago and had three amazing guys move us. Their names were Dustin M, Will R and Tim C. I was honestly dreading the move, but this was the best moving experience we have ever had. Nothing was damaged. Usually movers are notorious for being late (other companies we have used have been hours late). These guys were even 30 minutes early!! These guys were super polite and nice to work with. They really knew what they were doing and executed everything with finesse. Would highly recommend this company!!
The men were courteous and efficient. I would use the company again.
These guys were great with my daughters furniture. She was moving a one bedroom apartment from Houston to Fort Worth. They arrived at the appointed time, wrapped her furniture in plastic wrap to protect it and efficiently load up the truck in about an hour. They arrived at her place when expected and unloaded efficiently. Nothing was broken and they offered to assemble her kitchen table. They were great and we will definitely use them for our next move.
Moved out today with the help of Shane D. & Dustin T. They were super efficient and friendly and made the process so much smoother and more enjoyable. Thank you so much for your help Burley Men!! Will be using in the future and recommending to friends.
If I could give a no stars I would! To begin with our things were brought in 2 separate trucks 2 weeks apart which meant that we had to pay for the scale fee twice for a total of $150 rather then $75. The second load of our things were sent to storage in Calgary for the added two weeks, we moved from edmonton to Vancouver island. When trying to contact the company in regards to when our second portion would be delivered we were given the run around and had to explain why we had a second load as no one seemed to know that not all our belongs were sent at once, and then after explaining each time we called we were being told it would be picked up the next day each time we called. Our 3rd call was directly to the owner of the company who guaranteed it would be picked up in the next 2 days. It was not we needed to make yet another call to find out when our things would be delivered. We were grossly under quoted on what the cost of our move would be. In the second load was our bed along with other house hold items and our Dyson vacuum which was purchased just this last October. Our Vacuum never arrived at our new place. We have been calling them continually in regards to our vacuum as it is very expensive, I paid over $550 for it. The attachments for our vacuum arrived but not the vacuum itself? In our continued attempts to get our vacuum back we have been told repeatedly that they are looking for it since the 19th of July. Today was our final straw when we were told we would receive $0.60 a pound for the missing item . That means the value , to this company, for my $550 vacuum is $6.00 Canadian dollars! This is the most deplorable explanation and offer I have ever been given for a company’s neglect and mistake. I have to say for a company I had used years ago for a local move in Victoria I had expected more professionalism and better service. The fact that they are not willing to work with us at all and have said that the value of our vacuum is a lousy six dollars is just the most insulting response for accompanies negligence I have ever received in my entire life. I would highly recommend no person use this company if they are planning to do a long-haul move and expect all of their belongings to arrive. I will say on another note that Thank god we actually had the money to pay for the additional 2000 pounds over what they quoted, But my question is for those out there who have been given a quote and are under quoted and don’t have the money for the additional what then happens with their things?
On July 23 you sent 2 gentlemen to help me move heavy shipping containers of a greenhouse up into my back yard. They were Shane D and Justin M. I want to report that they did a spectacularly good job with moving these heavy containers, and I am most pleased with their work. They were on time, polite, worked rapidly with minimal instruction, and completed the job well within the time I had estimated. Hence I would like to say thanks to your company and to Shane and Justin for their help in this moving. I would be most happy to recommend your company to anyone I know who is moving.
Dropped my 400$ printer, took 2 weeks to get back to me with an estimate for reimburment and offered me 8$ GO SOMEWHERE ELSE
Good team of movers. I was happy.
Mark and Eric did a fantastic job. Efficient and very helpful. Moving can be very stressful but they made it seem like a breeze which I know it was not because there were a lot of stairs involved. Thank you very much!
We were very happy with our experience using Two Burley Men Langley from start to finish. The men arrived earlier than scheduled and ready to work hard. We had a very tight timeline with our move but they made it work. We had never used a moving service in the past but we are so glad we did this time - it took the stress off of such a busy day. We would definitely recommend Two Burley Men Moving Ltd. to anyone looking for a reliable, professional company. Thank you!
Paul and Aiden were awesome today. On time, friendly and efficient. 10/10 would recommend to anybody looking to hire movers! Thank you!
After the experience I had, I would not recommend booking with 2 Burley Men. It seems like there are management issues, and that the moving staff are not treated well and are completely over-exerted during the end of month rush, which leads to slow moving, super late arrival, and a poor experience all around. No fault to the movers I had who were nice, but they were visibly exhausted from being booked to do 3 moves back-to-back in one day after having done a move until after midnight the night before. I ended up joining in and moving stuff because things were moving so slowly. The person I had booked with didn’t communicate with the movers that it was a walk up apartment. At $100/hr, not what I expect - especially since the slow pace meant my move took longer and was therefore much more expensive.
I wasn't the one paying for their service yet felt like a review was warranted based on the 'pickup' service at my end of the arrangement. They called me from their last location which is about 10 mins from my home...said I’m here and item for pickup is right by the door...they sat in their truck right in front of my house for 15 mins then called me again and asked when I’m gonna be home...said we just spoke and I’ve been looking at you through the front window since you pulled up...not sure where you think I went since we talked 25 mins ago...15 of which were in front of my home. Then 3 guys jumped out of the truck and starting coming towards the house with NO masks on - I was wearing my mask and asked them to put masks on - which seemed to be a hefty request on my part. The item they were picking up was literally placed right by the door - but main guy Dale needed to make this a massive ordeal - could tell the other 2 guys were ready to pick it up and head out the door - but Dale needed to give me the full breakdown on how much delivery costs, etc, etc - reminded him over and over that I'm not the one paying nor did I select their company or arrange for their services. He then proceeded to hunker down in my living room attempting to call the person this was going to - but got their voicemail. So he then wanted me to call and confirm payment with this person via credit card or cash and to clear up who was paying. Advised him yet AGAIN I have no details nor did I arrange for them to pickup/deliver/pay. He was quite adamant he wasn't leaving until he had payment confirmation. That's a detail you should have sorted out BEFORE taking the job or setting up your anger camp in my living room. He then wanted me to note the time they arrived and wanted to make sure I let the receiving/paying person know the time they arrived - then proceeded to remind me of how they charge in 15 minute chunks of time - 15 of which he spent sitting in the truck in front of my house and another 15 demanding I sort out his payment. His 2 helpers were clearly NOT on board with his approach and were quite ready to pickup the 120lb item and walk it out - but Dale insisted it be put on a flat wheel dolly to go 4' across the room to the door. Heard from buyers later that when he did arrive - they also had to ask him to wear a mask - to which he stated I wanted him and crew to put on masks when picking the item up and it caused them a delay of 15 billable minutes to fulfill my absurd request and that's why they were running behind. Professional time waster and apparently living somewhere free of covid and world news.
Very unprofessional. Crew did not wear masks as well as smoked inside of my home. Truck driver showed up 2 hours late and reeked of booze. Did some research and found out this wasn't the first time something like this has happened. When my stuff was unpacked I noticed various dents and dings on a few of my pieces of furniture. When brought up with corporate, they told me that "I was lying" and that the pieces already had those aforementioned dents and dings. Would not recommend this moving company and would advise anyone looking to do so to be cautious and make sure you take plenty of photos of your furniture beforehand or else they might claim that there was nothing wrong with it.
Dakota and Khalifa were fantastic! They were very careful not damage neither the furniture nor the buildings walls and corners. They were incredibly efficient in completing the move. Dakota is a very customer service focused. I am very satisfied with their services and will for sure hire them again in the future if needed. Thank you!
Shane, Justin & Ainsworth were very kind, professional and honest. It was so refreshing to experience these movers after some really challenging situations this year. I appreciate the help and would call these 3 Burley men to help anytime! Thank You Lads for all your hardwork :)
I recently moved from Vancouver Island to the Sunshine Coast and used 2 Burley Men for the move - I couldn't be happier with the service! Due to the distance and multiple ferries, it was a 2 day move. My "crew" consisted of Lamont and Will - they were fantastic! Everything was moved with care, they took the time to ensure everything was wrapped and packed properly. They took apart furniture and reassembled it at the new house, which was a huge help to me! Plus, they were friendly and funny - they made the move fun! I would highly recommend the company, Lamont and Will to anyone looking for a reliable, professional moving company. Would definitely use them again!
They came, my stuff left and arrived on the other side in the same condition. Went really smoothly, would use again for sure.
I feel compelled to share my experience of a few months ago. It was nothing but frustration from the beginning. Booking a date was difficult, and we were not given an exact date until close to the move. Once we agreed on a date that worked for 2 Burley Men and us, we arranged to have a relative take time off work to meet the movers and assist with the drive. The movers were given the wrong day by whoever booked our move. This was corrected over the phone. On actual moving day they showed up half a day later than stated, resulting in my partner not arriving at our new place until 3am. They were rude with her when they arrived. When their truck ran out of room (because they picked up 3 other moves first) they literally STRAPPED my nearly-new mattress to the top of the moving truck. Despite their attempts to protect it with plastic wrap, road dirt and water inevitably got inside and the mattress turned brown. My barbeque was delivered with a large new dent in the lid, and numerous new scrapes were located on various pieces of wood furniture. They may have been cheaper than others, but overall you get what you pay for. I would recommend avoiding this mover if at all possible.
Are they cheap...yes. Are they good or even mediocre...NO. They showed up with a massive truck despite being told the amount of stuff we had to move (I think so they could charge more for the ferry). They also had a dog in the truck. The swore a lot, were very late and instead of catching the ferry on time, which I did despite taking the bus to get there, they stopped for a bucket of KFC. I informed them many times that I was moving into a high-rise that has strict rules on elevator use and specific times we had to hit. We missed the window and had to move during rush hour - not a great first impression for our landlords. They also scratched many items and they almost forgot a few of our things! My husband climbed up into the truck to see if they missed anything and they missed a TON! Part of our bedframe even! DON'T HIRE THESE GUYS!
Very efficient group of men, moving went very smoothly. Thanks guys!
Dale, Santiago and Ainsworth were amazing. On time, efficient, careful, polite I would highly recommend 2 Burley Men Moving Ltd.
The only reason I am giving this company is a 2 is because the actual movers were amazing! They showed up to our place on the 31'st and told us that not everything would fit in the truck. They immediately asked us if we dealt with Earl because this has been happening a lot lately. They called their boss to work it out so another truck came out the next day to pick the rest of our things up. They were super fast in packing our things and very efficient in packing the truck they tried to get everything in. They then moved the rest into the garage since the tenant was moving in the next day (good thing we were in a basement suit). The first truck arrived within two days. The second truck took two and a half weeks. When we called Earl about our things he seemed to not care and told us that we needed to call a different number. We were passed on to three different people. The final lady said she would talk to Earl and call us back... she never did. We had to play phone tag with her and no one knew where our stuff was. They then lost some of our stuff. I emailed the lady to tell her with her instructions. It's been a week and a half and she has not got back to me.. probably waiting until the 14 day mark so it's not covered! We ended up paying more money than we should of. It was more stressful than it should have been... and you can tell they don't care. Two Burley Men the company i would give a 0/10 for the way they treat their customers and their lack of empathy. It's just about making money they don't care about making the customers happy. It also seems like they under quote to get business. The actual movers I would give a 9/10.. too bad I couldn't hire them independently of the company.
I used this company for a move from Calgary to Kamloops in early June 2021. I have an upright piano that I informed Scott of during the initial conversation when obtaining a quote. No hesitation on Scott's part to move a piano. A few more conversations in the weeks leading up to my move date (which they changed) and again, full representation on their part and assurance they can competently move my piano. Long story short, my piano was damaged in the move by the movers who fully admitted they caused the damage because of incorrect piano moving equipment and lack of experience. I am devastated!!! I was offered $170 from customer service rep and the repair costs are over $1,400!! I DO NOT and will not recommend this company.
I would not recommend them. While the movers did a good job, they didn't break anything, they were in such a rush, we didn't get everything in the truck that needed to go. They had lots of time to catch a ferry but raced to get an earlier one then sat in line waiting, while we struggled to load more than we had room for on the moving end. We put a cc on file and they charged the person on the other end. We then went into a customer service nightmare, where they seemed to not care whatsoever about the customer experience or care. They talked over you and didn't listen, if you raise your voice to get them to listen, or ask them to listen they just keep talking and hang up if they feel like it. Truly the worst experience possible. Use this company at your own risk. Nightmare! The people in charge of customer service do not care about you and are not there to assist or help. I have never been spoken to with such utter disregard for my business from any company ever.
Don't expect all you items to be moved without damage and for them to reimburse you for the actual replacement/repair costs. I had about 5 items damaged (three of them pretty valuable) during my move and was reimbursed by the size/volume of item (which didn't come out to much). They also almost left with three items still on their truck until I mentioned that I had not seen them yet and showed them a picture of the items.
While there was a delay at the start of the move by 1 day due to them being really busy , the crew kept in close contact with me and I was very happy with the level of communication. The crew was from Edmonton and they did a great job! They wrapped all our furniture with care and everything made it to our destination in one piece. They were polite , courteous, and very careful. No damage at either locations. The price quoted was what I was charged as I didn't exceed the 6000 lbs standard for their fee. And by far the best rate compared to any other company I got a quote from. I will definitely use this service again. Again shout out to the Edmonton crew fantastic job!
They were again the best moving company that I have used. This was the second time that I hired them. There is not enough I could say other than that very professional and I would recommend their services to all who are looking for the best. I thank you again for moving my daughter to her new place and taking her stress away. Doug Smith
This was the third time that we used this moving service. The first two times they were great. They were on time, quick, courteous, and careful. I gave them rave reviews, because they deserved it. This last time, two weeks ago, things were different. Due to scheduling and complications with other customers, there were multiple delays with our pick-up. We were able to work with that, and with our stuff taking longer than expected to get to us at our destination. What was really frustrating was the fact that so many of our boxes were apparently packed and traveled on end, including my lawn mower. I had packed it in it's original box for the move, mistakenly thinking that it would be packed right side up! Fortunately, we only had a few broken items, and one missing box. The two guys who did our move were not as courteous or as professional as the other guys were previously. I have to say, if we ever move again, it will NOT be with 2 Burley Men!
Was promised 24 hr notice and they gave me 2 hrs. Long haul. Price was 700.00 higher than quoted. Delivery was a day late. An antique floor lamp was smashed and I was offered 12.60 to cover my loss.Terrible service. I had to hound them for a reply. Do yourself a favor and hire ANYONE else.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They destroyed my antique dresser, lost some furniture (but tried to give me someone else’s), every box was broken, arrived 3 days late & overcharged from estimate by $900! Best part, one of the drivers asked to use my bathroom before they started unloading. I later found his feces filled underwear in the bathroom under the sink! Gross! Their customer service department has done absolutely nothing to assist in this matter!
If you don't want to get screwed when moving run, don't walk away from these guys. I booked a move for 9 a.m, received call at 9:15 a.m saying guys were late starting because they worked late the night before. After no call back for 1.5 hours I called them, was then told that they did not have a truck or crew available for my move but would try and work something out and call me with a plan. Received call at 6:00 p.m saying they were 15 minutes away, by then we had hired a U-Haul truck and moved ourselves.
Victoria area customers beware! If I could give this review 0 stars I would. I would not reccommend this company even to people I don't care for. They showed up 20 minutes late. I had a solid oak full size family heirloom armoire (very heavy) to move from the garage to inside the house, up two flights of stairs, and down the hallway. The stairs had two corners and two landings They didn't use tape measures, instead eyeballed the piece and went at it. They first tried going in through the garage side door, then after bumping the finished top against the door jam, decided to take my advice and go out through the garage and in the front door, and then up the stairs. Thank goodness I moved the irreplaceable paintings that my grandfather made from the walls. There were several gouges, dents and scrapes that damaged the walls and wood railings on the trip up the stairs and down the hall. I had to assist with keeping the top end straight to try and minimize the damage. Unfortunately when all was said and done, they did not admit fault and instead said I would "have to take it up with the office". I took photos of the damage right away and called the office. The man I spoke with on the phone was very dismissive when I told him what had happened and said he had to "take another call" and HUNG UP ON ME. I called back and maintained my composure and told him again about the damage and said that I refuse to pay until someone contacts me and arranges to fix the damage which will be roughly 600$ (new railing, stain, drywall repair, paint) (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) "The movers stated that the piece was too heavy and a third mover will be required. " This is a lie. No mention of obtaining a 3rd mover was ever mentioned. I never "insisted" on helping them at all. In fact, the older gentleman brought it up, and at no time ever indicated that me watching the top of the armoire and giving indications if they were clearing the walls would void any liability on their part. No mention of a waiver was ever made at any point until damages occurred. That is a straight up lie. Their whole statement is made up of them trying to get out of paying for the damages. And they can't prove otherwise. I've clearly explained that my concern is just in fearing that they will absolve themselves of responsibility for fixing the damages properly if the waybill is paid, and to that end, I remain firm that I will not pay until the damages are fixed. What is there in place to stop them from ignoring me after the waybill is paid? Nothing. They keep calling the damages "minor" whereas I have phtots that tell a different story. The one lady at the office tried to downplay the extent of the damage without any indication that she works in the renovation industry. Because she doesn't, and has no clue what she's talking about. I would expect to have to get teenagers to own up to wrongdoing not a business. And outright lying about the series of events? Reprehensible. I have offered that they could send an estimator that we agree upon using from a local restoration business to inspect the damages and quote a repair cost. I believe that is the best way to solve the professionally. As a footnote, several of my co-workers both civilian and otherwise, have told me horror stories about this company, including one where the movers stole an expensive road bicycle. Let me repeat that so it can sink in: they stole from a client. Again, the waiver was not mentioned until they caused any damage. This is a very shady tactic. I would like the company to authorize me to call a restoration company locally and have an estimate made. All parties will then be made aware of the extent of damages and associated costs. I would also like this to be resolved in a timely fashion instead of dragging it out with stories that are fabricated out of convenience to pass the buck. Had they ever made mention of a waiver that lets them cause damage, I would not have let them past the front door.
I was impressed with the movers that came to help me move my belongings from a storage unit to my new apartment. They were friendly, time efficient and very careful of my belongings. I would recommend this company to my friends.
POOR EXPERIENCE OVERALL The moving men were wonderful at packing and unpacking, they were also very polite. But when it came to organizing times, dates, and simple instruction, they were shockingly bad. Due to their errors I had to rent a hotel for a night as we had no furniture, and take another day off work for the late arrival. When I asked for some minor compensation, my request was denied (in late fashion). Only use this service if you really are stuck. They are not what I would expect from a big moving company. 2 out of 10
Excellent, friendly, reasonably priced moving service. We accidentally booked the wrong day, they kindly accommodated us with a more suitable date. We also absolutely loved our moving crew, Mike & Sylvian. The two were cheerful, helpful, careful & very efficient, despite the fact we moved in the middle of a record breaking heatwave. Made the move pleasant experience considering the circumstances.
Caused $$thousands in damages. Callous & reckless with my furniture: there's nothing like watching movers drop an antique cabinet off the dolly and scraping it along the pavement. Then a laugh and a shrug. Seriously. Or overhand throwing cushions from leather sofa into the back of the truck with no care for where it landed. Entire bedroom suite ruined - literally busted in half and every dresser scratched beyond belief. Big gouge in $5000 leather sofa - unrepairable. 2 months and no intent to pay their pathetic offer for damages. The list of damages is too long to fit here and I have given them months to make amends. Oh - not to mention the movers high-pressure tactics to make me pay before they left my house, after taking photos of some of the damages. Unprofessional-yes. Not responsive-yes. Poor-quality - duh. Poor value - OMG.
While I'm not sure it was out of this branch, we did use 2 Burly Men Moving for our move today out of Abbotsford. They were supposed to arrive at 9:00 AM but I got a call at 8:45 AM saying there would be a delay but that they would be arriving within the hour. Well, 10:10 AM rolls around and we get another call saying they're 15-20 minutes away. They arrive at 10:30 AM and there's no apology or explanation for being late. While one of the workers was great and worked hard, the other worker never bothered to put on a mask, was incredibly slow, and spent lots of time trying to talk instead of doing the job required. Within 5 minutes of arriving he asked to use our bathroom which, while not a huge deal, was a bit annoying since we had just cleaned it. This worker would regularly walk up our stairs, look around at the items and then walk back down without bringing anything with him. I started moving items because I was afraid of getting overcharged due to him taking so long. At the second property, they did a great job of unloading at a good pace. They finished at 12:30 PM which put them right within the two hour mark which I was pretty happy with. When he (the guy above) came with the bill, I noticed that he had charged us for 3.5 hours (one hour travel time was part of the deal) and justified it by saying that they started at 10:00 AM. I told him that they weren't there at 10:00 AM and he claimed that they were. It wasn't until I showed him a timestamped photo I took upon their arrival showing 10:30 AM that he agreed to put it down to 3 hours. I feel bad giving a bad review because everyone organizing our move did a great job, it was fairly affordable and the other employee was a great worker, knowledgeable and easy-going, but I came out of the experience extremely frustrated and would not ever want this same individual moving my items again.
Showed up right on time, and within 10 minutes had a plan and packed up my house fast. Great crew, highly recommend.
I had a great experience with this company. I had a short window to move and they were able to make it work for me. My Movers were Jesse and Mike and shout-out to them for taking great care of my valuables taking extra care to wrap expensive items and handle with care. They arrived on time and were quicker than i expected. Absolutely no qualms with using this company again if needed in the future. Highly Recommended.
Jeff M, Kyle A, and Justyn M were very polite, friendly, and got the job done! It wasn't an easy one either, super heavy piano! They took care to consider not scratching my hardwood floors and not breaking doors;I was pleased with their efficiency. As well, they were very communicative about arrival time. Second time using Burley Men and I'd use them again.
Amazing, prompt, quick, efficient, safe! All words well describing our service. 2 guys moved 2 HEAVY dressers from a house to our nearby mobile home. We had bought the dressers on FB Market Place and they were too awkward and heavy to move by ourselves. From my first inquiry by phone to when the guys left my home, I was impressed and would 100% recommend Burley Men!:)
A few days ago, I had the pleasure of working with Shane, Ainsworth and Matt on a short move in Brentwood Bay. It was an extraordinarily hot day but they worked like Trojans to get the move done as quickly and efficiently as possible. They were super pleasant fellows as well, and I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again. Thanks, guys!
I had to move from Vancouver to Calgary. I shopped around and looked at may reviews on line. Lets face it moving sucks and is a lot of work. These guys did a great job and presented the best value for me with my move. Christian and Ken loaded my stuff and took great care wrapping and making sure my stuff did not get damaged. (Probably better than I would have myself.) Kerri in Calgary organized the logistics and everything ended up in Calgary the date of possession for my new home. It was off loaded neatly and timely. They guys even put together both my beds. This company is outstanding at what they do. Obviously do your research if you need movers but but these guys have down to an art. This was worth every penny.
As I write this I am sitting on the floor of my new place in Courtenay BC still waiting for any information as to when I can expect to sit on my actual furniture. I heard of this company from a friend of mine who had just booked a very big move from Grande Prairie to Courtenay. When I booked this move with Scott he told me they would arrive on the 28th or 29th for pick up and it would take 5-6 days to arrive. I was fine with that even though we would be living in our place from the first I just wanted to make sure we would have our stuff by my daughters bday which is tomorrow. I phoned to confirm pick up because I had not heard from the company but did not get a reply. I phoned the 29th worried they were not going to come and spoke to a gentlemen who stated the truck was full but they would send someone out for my stuff still. They arrived super late but I didn't care as long as my stuff was on its way. After 5 days I hadn't heard anything so I decided to give them a call. I was told Scott was in charge of that and they would have him call me within the hour. I was told that several times and still have yet to even hear from Scott. I spoke to Earl who at first told me very abruptly that it was on the truck. I asked if he could give me an idea as to when it would arrive and he put me on hold to come back and in form me that my stuff was still in Calgary. The only explanation I got was that there were no trucks. When I asked when I could expect it to be sent out he said he didn't know because they were very busy and had no trucks. I asked if they could at least contact me when it was on a truck so I knew when to expect it and said he would call me. I have called twice a day since then and every time they have taken my name and number saying Scott would return my call. This morning I spoke to the same gentleman I spoke to last night and he could hear in my voice that I was upset. He said I left the message I don't know what happened. Then he said he would physically hand this new message to Earl. I Still haven't heard back and realize I will not have any furniture, bedding, pots or pans or anything for my daughters first birthday in Courtenay which she now wants to cancel. I am at my wits end and don't know what to do. Thought maybe posting this review may catch their attention. I hope to be able to still rectify this situation and will post a follow up review.
Used this company twice and both times did damage. Cheryl the administrator? Is non effective in dealing with customers as they will pay for nothing! Read your contract! $2500.00 wine fridge ruined and their only compensation was $200.00. Like a fool I got them one more time and large scratch in new wood floors and the not only refuse to pay for scratch but deny it even happened! Do NOT use them!
We were fortunate to have Steve and Dray as our movers. To begin with we had a very tricky downhill driveway that Steve manoeuvred easily. Very impressive driving skills. Both men were friendly, considerate, energetic, polite, very hard working and knowledgeable. They were a pleasure to be around and wonderful ambassadors for your company. They were highly recommended to us and we will highly recommend you company to others. Good job
Poor experience to say the least. They are not very pleasant to deal with, lack ownership of the move and send movers who are no way fit to move your valuable items. In my experience, they seem to be under the influence and conducted themselves very unprofessionally. Moving is stressful enough as it is, hiring 2 Burley Men made my move even more stressful. They are unresponsive, and very inconsiderate and unprofessional. I had a terrible experience with them and would not recommend them to anyone looking for a professional moving service.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They lost a VERY important box filled with expensive articles and a TV stand of mine. I have been on the phone with them numerous times with no proper response as to how I will be compensated for this. My king size mattress was full of black oil stains. My white leather dining chairs were covered in dirt and oil. I tipped all the drivers. Have been nice with trying to locate my lost items..and now I quit. Never have I written a Google review but I want to warn others about this company. I have moved well over 10 times in my life. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!
Paul and Ben from Victoria were awesome! Quick and efficient. Booking was the easiest thing ever, and I was called and kept up to date throughout the day about where my movers were and how long they would be! Pricing wasn't off the charts either! Highly recommend these dudes! Thanks again!
Very good work and very good to deal with
From start to finish 2 Burley Men was efficient, professional. I emailed to book my appointment and with 10 minutes I had received a call back and my move was booked. I then received a confirmation call the night before, and then the day of the movers arrived early and got right to work, they worked quickly but carefully even though at the end it was pouring rain, they did not slow down. All of my things arrived at my new place perfectly in tact! The cost was also very reasonable. I would definitely use 2 Burley Men again and will for sure be recommending them to all my friends and family that need movers. A huge thank you to the company and the 2 men that moved me, you made a stressful day a little less stressful!!
The move was less than poorly scheduled, the movers damaged over $5000 worth of our property, took 5 days for it to arrive, and I am appalled that the owner of this company is charging us for this move. This was without a doubt the worst customer service experience I have ever dealt with. WE had to call to see when the pick up is, WE had to call to see when our things were arriving, and then when I called to complain after everything we experienced we weren't even given the time of day and told me to call customer service line which is located in Ontario who has literally nothing to do with the move. We DID NOT sign the waybill for the delivery because of how much damage was done. We had scheduled a pick up for June 29 or June 30th because Earl had asked for a two-day notice. We got the call that they were coming on June 30th first thing in the morning. I guess the first pick up took longer than anticipated and the movers had showed up at 5pm. The Driver, Jason, was just full of excuses (victim mentality which I see goes up the chain) on why they were late rather than apologizing. They had to go rent a truck because the first move was miss quoted for volume. The movers were in such a rush that they had limited blankets for our furniture which we were told by Earl that the movers would cover the large pieces. Once again, Apparently not. They ran out of shrink wrap and I had to supply my own so my furniture was somewhat wrapped properly. They didn’t wrap my main couch cushion and were told that “we’ll wrap it back at the yard.” Which was not done and my couch cushion arrived ripped. One of the movers, Ryan, was in such a rush that he was jogging down the hallway pushing my portable bar cart and smashed it into a tile floor which I heard break. Then he said “guess I hit that one a little hard.” Then when I went down to the truck it reeked like cigarette smoke and weed. Clearly, they were smoking pot in between runs and covering it up with cigarette smoke. I am aware that pot is now legal but during working hours on company time; I’m pretty easy going but this is not OK. It’s a joke and can’t believe this is allowed and not addressed. We had marked boxes “Fragile” had even purchased fragile tape so it wouldn’t be missed and made sure you could see that these boxes contained fragile items. I guess that doesn’t matter. Boxes marked “heavy” were packed on top of fragile boxes, things jammed into places and anything marked fragile was on the bottom to middle of the pile. Jason gave my girlfriend a lot of sass and back talking when we had to call to see where they were, excuse after excuse. How many times were our belongings moved to different trucks? I know of three different times and I don’t even work for the company. Arrived wet, the boxes smelt like garbage water, my couch reeks like cigarette smoke and it was utterly disgusting. $300 to clean the couch from the drivers chain smoking..."Oh we aren't responsible for the contents of the boxes. So that gives you the right to leave them in the rain and that washes your hands from it? Or stacking boxes marked "Heavy" on top of ones that are clearly marked fragile? Charging us $4758.60 for the move and then it arrives like this? How do you sleep at night taking people’s money, treating people this way and treating their things like garbage? Take some self responsibility for your employee’s actions and this is your company which means anyone under you is a reflection on you. This was the movers doing. Plain and simple. We trusted your company and our possessions were utterly ruined. Being offered $185 compensation, What a joke. Then I see they come back with "well you signed off on it and I'm sorry it was a stressful move. Then the token "oh I apologize for your stressful move" YOUR COMPANY CAUSED US AND ALL THESE OTHER PEOPLE'S STRESS! Own it. Yeah, anyone would be stressed out when you hire someone, pay them, in order to take care of your things and they arrive damaged, broken, wet and then try to spin it on the customer....what a joke. Excited to hear back from my lawyer!
We had 4 men come move our whole house in a day. They were very careful with all our furniture and did a really good job. Very Hard Workers!!! Thanks for making a difficult day not so stressful. We had planned our move a couple months ago but due to unforeseen circumstances we gave them a day’s notice and they made the move happen! Thanks so much!
We had a horrific experience with this company. Our move was scheduled for 12pm on Dec 1, 2021 and by about 1pm with them not showing up, I started to call them. I was told that they were on their way and would be there within 1-2 hours. They didn't show up at all despite me calling about 3-4 more times. Each time I called, I was told they would be there soon. At 8pm I called and told them to reschedule as our new complex doesn't allow move ins that late. This after waiting all day for them. I was also told the no show was because they had a broken down truck and they had to call in a different crew. They did show up Dec 2 and we had issues with their lack of training and knowledge on how to properly wrap and load items into their truck. They were completely careless. They did not wrap any pieces of furniture and two items sustained heavy damage. They destroyed a round faux concrete table by actually rolling it out of our place, onto the truck and into the new place. See attached pictures of the damage to the table top. The other damaged item is an occasional chair but we are able to fix it on our own. They state they have no insurance to cover damaged items and we were offered $146 to compensate us. The table itself was $1500. They are refusing to replace or even try and fix the table and to fix the chair. Given the fact that the movers didn't wrap the furniture and the way they moved the table by rolling it, we are surprised they will not cover the damage caused by their gross negligence and carelessness. Further, when we asked the movers what happened the day before and why they didn't show up, they told me it was because their morning move took longer than expected and that there was no broken down truck. They told me that dispatch always says that. So unprofessional. To summarize...they didn't show up until a day later and they failed to properly protect our furniture, resulting in a destroyed table and a damaged chair that they are refusing to compensate us for. Picture below are of the table top. Don't hire this company. Worst moving experience we have had.
I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone... We had booked a move from Kamloops to Victoria while in advance. The movers were set to come on the Sunday to have us moved out of our house before the new owners took possession the Tuesday at noon. One week before our move date the driver called and said they were having truck problems so they would have to delay. He said they would now be coming on Monday and assured me everything would be moved out in time still. Then on Sunday they called and said they will have to delay again until Tuesday... the day we had to be out.... After many conversations with the driver and another driver (who was very rude) we were told they would be there Tuesday at 9am to do a 7 hour load... the time we had to hand over the keys was at noon... After many phone calls we were told they would come at 7 am and be done by noon. We did NOT trust them at this point because of A) how many times they had changed our pickup and how we felt like we were getting the short end of the stick with their truck problems and B) just how rude they about the whole situation, We ended up getting our own Uhaul the night before possession and doing the entire move ourselves! It was a NIGHTMARE!!!! These guys are VERY UNRELIABLE!!!! If you need to be out of your house at a certain time pick a different company.
Three guys showed up and professionally wrapped all of my furniture, loaded it all into their truck and moved us from the Peninsula into Victoria. Everything was done in an orderly fashion and only two small issues when all was put into place. One- a lamp stem got bent and the other- a scratch on the hardwood floor where they pushed my loveseat into place. Neither of these things we're big issues. Everything else gets a huge thumbs up!! All said, great, hardworking guys and we were extremely pleased to have dealt with them!
This company was the only business in the Comox Valley who would move a piano. With only one day’s notice Sylvain, Jody and Kyle arrived and carefully wrapped the piano and put it in the truck. Each move was discussed so as to avoid a mishap. The piano arrived at it’s destination in original condition and the receivers were happy at their end. I was extremely happy to have this company take care of this move and would highly recommend them.
Sylvain and his crew arrived early. Disassembled some items. Packed and moved us across town. Put everything where it needed to be and assembled a few items, as we were not sure of some room arrangements. The easiest and least stressful move ever. Highly recommend this company.
Hired 2 Burley Men for my move. They phoned a few days before making sure all was good with the scheduled move. They showed up on time, looked everything over and began loading the truck They took extra care with valuables and wrapped furniture in blankets. Very professional and efficient. Moved went very smooth. Would use them again and highly recommend them.
Not only were these two men burly they were hunky and hilarious. They were super courteous and got the job done. Thanks hunky men aka Mark and Paul ????????
Mick and Josh were an impressive team from start to finIsh. They were thoughtful and courteous, engaging me in decisions when it was important. Their stamina and strength was truly remarkable in a place with many, many stairs and awkward corners. I would not hesitate to recommend them and 2 Burley Men to anyone.
Just said goodbye to Luke and Robin from 2 Burley Men - they did an AMAZING job moving me from a condo to my new house - complete with maneuvering my oversized couch down a zigzag hallway. They were careful with my belongings, wrapped everything, and paid attention to detail to ensure it all arrived safely. Plus, they were available within a week's notice. Would definitely recommend!
I had a truck drive over my grass and break a sprinkler head. When confronted the drivers got aggressive and started getting in my face. I phoned the company they knew exactly who the two guys were by name. So obviously an issue. When trying to get reimbursed they refused to refund the damage. I’m hugely disappointed in this company from being threaded personally and then the lack of professionalism after the fact. Stay away from their movers is my feedback.
Worst moving company ever…wish I could give 0 stars. Destroyed most of my furniture, destroyed our bicycles. Wrapped damaged/broken items to conceal it. Won’t recommend them to anyone, run far from them if you can!
Travis and Martin were wonderful. They didn't mind me hovering anxiously around the truck while they moved things, and were very careful with all of my stuff. They problem solved for bigger items so everything would come out intact, and were very polite and nice to chat with. The job was completed very quickly and efficiently without compromising the safety of my belongings, nor the safety of the movers! Definitely would recommend.
Just completed move from Surrey to Denman Island - I was very impressed with Lamont and Will. A call the night before to confirm everything and review what is a complicated move with several ferries. They hustled so hard and efficiently to get it all done in one day and unload prior to dark! I would very much recommend them for any move you are needing.
Really nice young guys. Total gentlemen
Received boxed item that isn't mine. If you are missing something from past 2 weeks, please post on Facebook lost and found items.
Was told they could fit entire house in 1 truck. They realized quickly when the movers arrived that it wouldn't fit. Would have preferred to know this before hand since it was a long distance move. Ended up costing $2500 more than originally estimated. Would most likely have used a different company with a different truck. Also there is no verification on the hours they work so you just have to assume they aren't ripping you off Damaged 3 pieces due to improper loading of truck. Took a huge chunk out of Wall in hallway, then took the damaged drywall to make it look like it was done before. The positive things are that Josh found us another truck same day, since we didn't have a choice, we had to be out of the house. Also the workers were mostly quick and did mostly what was asked.
Three fantastic people that moved professionally, fast, and so obligingly. The fact that this company hires first class employees that get the job done is without question that I would recommend them for any type of move. I would like to personally thank mike, malice and sabastien for your great job. ???????? 2 Burley Men.
DO NOT! I REPEAT, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR MOVE!!! After glancing at their pretty good reviews, noticing their billboards all over BC and getting a better price from them than their competitors, it was a no brainer to go with 2 Burley Men. Now that the move is complete, it was a complete disaster and if you want your move to be your worst nightmare, than look no further then this company. Here's just a short list of disappointments and headaches curtesy of them: - They won't do what's included in the price unless you tell them what to do (you wouldn't think that since their "professional movers") - They'll argue with your caretaker - They'll break the mask sign off in your elevator and pretend they didn't do it - I booked them a month in advanced, after several phone calls, they still didn't know when they would be picking up or dropping off the furniture even the night before. Making it difficult to book the elevator and plan other things. - The customer service during those phone calls was non-existent. I was talking to someone that clearly didn't care - They'll show up late without telling you - They'll damage your furniture (in our case, chipped dinner table, scratches all over our coffee table, broken picture frames and hand painted pieces, ink on our sectional and queen mattress, and more) - They lost something of ours and they didn't help at all trying to get it back. Even though they have the contacts of the other addresses they dropped stuff off to. - They're "compensation" is pathetic. Several hundreds of dollars worth of damage and I got very, very little back. - After repeatedly telling the mover to slow down and stop running into walls with my stuff, he continued to do so. I don't ever write reviews but in this case, my experience couldn't go unsaid. I would never recommend this company to anyone and I truly hope you read this and go find a different company. Spend the extra money if you have to and find actual professional movers that care about their customers and their possessions.
Shockingly UNPROFESSIONAL and DISDAINFUL of their customers - damaged items, missing items and they JOKED THEY WOULD GIVE US COVID… We have moved over 15 times in the last 20 years due to work. I was absolutely shocked at the utter lack of professionalism and disdain this company showed us. The most disorganized, amateur, unprepared company we have ever used. Lack of any responsibility and accountability. In short - • Subcontractors (they had a TSM Moving truck) told us they did not believe in vaccination and refused to wear a mask at any point in our home or around us - and JOKED they might give us Covid • Were offended when asked to wear masks putting our family at RISK • Main office said they could accommodate a specific pickup window and then a few days before said that the window was ‘WITHIN 2 DAYS’ • When told that wasn't ever stated previously, were told BY THE OWNER OF 2 BURLEY MEN, Scott Burley, 'you can always find another mover' two days before the move • Reserved and paid for elevator and security guard at building we were moving from and clearly lost that deposit and had to pay a fine when they arrived 9 hours later • Quoted 1000 dollars without any in person assessment or even online assessment and the actual cost was almost 3 times that • We're told by the company that they were behind because 'a truck broke down' while the movers said no truck had broken down but that we had been 'AN ADD-ON THE DAY BEFORE’ despite making the arrangements 6 weeks prior • Didn't wrap many large items causing DAMAGE to many of them • BROKEN items including a lamp • Despite an interprovincial move, DO NOT USE AN INVENTORY SYSTEM with lists and stickers and checks on delivery and when asked about it, said 'it takes too much time' hence no accountability for missing items - I have NEVER seen that before • LEFT TO US to determine if things were missing and when a number of items were determined to be missing including the bed slats for the bed we were planning on sleeping on that night, refused to answer phone calls or texts and the company itself asked 'if we went into the truck to check'… NEVER before has that been our responsibility in a move, especially given they have no inventory system • MIXED UP our items with another move because the 'names were very similar' and brought in a number of items that are not ours • DIDN’T USE RUNNERS and so got dirt and water on our floors and rugs • And when we gave them a list of missing items they told us (after finally acknowledging the messages) that they would come in the 'morning' with NO OTHER COMMUNICATIONS - and then they pulled up at 14:30 after we waited all day and before we were able to get outside, JUST PILED SOME of the missing items and DROVE AWAY in the truck - still missing items even though they knew to specifically look for them based on our list • Not responsive to our concerns – NO ACCOUNTABILITY In summary, just blew me away how incomprehensibly bad this was and how little they cared about our time, money, items, and health. WORST MOVING COMPANY WE HAVE EVER USED BY FAR.
The movers Paul Q and Jaun U Brave flight helpful and made my move so much easier. Very professional. If you have a choice I'd ask for them by name! I definitely recommend this company the price was great. They were on time and worked so hard moving all my stuff.
great quick movers they were on time they didnt scratch anything worked super carfull and fast . called them when needed to move highly recommend them
I highly recommend 2 Burley Men moving. I inherited a teak dining set and as it was in Vancouver but I'm in Rossland I needed to find a Vancouver mover who was travelling east. Pick up and wrapping was on time and done well. Once they were …
They showed up late. The cost of the move was 120% higher than the quote One the two guys they sent spent most of the day on his cellphone moving a single box at a time. He also had to 'get out of there to go to his girlfriends birthday party.' They brought single 4 wheel dolly, I provided the other two and they lost one of them on a second stop - we had to recover it. I personally worked harder than one of the guys they sent. Definitely do not use these guys, even if everyone else is booked up. I sent them my concerns and they couldnt even be bothered to respond to us about them, let alone compensate us for the poor service.
You could not hire worse movers if you tried. Did not listen to instructions, not COVID safe at all, and terrible customer service. It took me 2 tries to make a complaint because they refused to pass it up the ladder. Truly terrible. But i got a great story out of how outragouslely bad they were!
My wife and I had already moved most of the ‘small stuff’ and needed our furniture and other larger items moved to our new home about 1.5 km away. The movers arrived on time and completed the job in a reasonable time while exercising care while doing so. Polite, efficient, clean and great individual protection (wraps, blankets) for our possessions. I have used the service before and would do so again.
This move was the best we ever done the young men very personable would definitely use again will recommend 2 Burly Men
We were very happy with the service we got. Even tho it was very hot out the boys did a wonderful job of getting all our stuff moved in a safe professional way. We will definitely use 2 Burley Men for our next move. Thanks guys!
Great crew of Dustin,Chris,Jon and Robin all worked very hard. Originally we planned for a 2 day move but they had us done in one day by putting in long hours. We really appreciated their efforts.
5 stars in all respects. Fast, friendly, professional. Came on very short notice. Have used in the past for work and home moves. Great value for the money. We will definitely use 2BM again and I would recommend them to anyone! ????????
Our move from Abbotsford to Nanaimo went so smoothly. Lamont, and Will both did a fantastic job communicating, and loading/unloading all our furniture. The return trip, loaded, unloaded, all by 5:00 same day. Great job guys, really do appreciate good hard work.
Careful. Personal. Excellent with 5 stars. Most highly recommended. Lamont and Will are THE BEST!!
Was supposed to be a same-day move from the Lower Mainland to the Okanagan. Truck didn't arrive at destination until 3 days later. Called head office to file a complaint and request a partial refund, and was denied. Would not recommend this company nor hire them again.
We were very happy with our move from Kamloops to Fort St John. Earl was very courteous and coordinated the move really well. However, I would give half a star less as he initially mentioned that my items would be delivered within 1to 2 days after it was picked up. Later on, speaking with the transport crew they mentioned that they usually take 3 to 7 days to get furniture to a home after pick up. In the end, even though our distance was very long, we received the furniture 3 days after pick up. Shoutout to Dustin, of the transport crew who was a joy to work with and Santiago. Thank you for a minimal hassle move, guys!
We phoned 2 Burley Men this morning to see if they could move a heavy couch and armchair for us today. They responded that they were happy to fit us in between other jobs. The two men who arrived (Paul Q. and Mike S.) were very professional and personable, and they efficiently moved the heavy and bulky furniture through tight spaces without scratching the walls or damage to the couch and chair. We would not hesitate to use this company again, and recommend them highly for their proficiency and professionalism. In addition, we would like to personally thank Paul and Mike for the great job they did and their cheerful approach. - Sarah and Chris
I needed furniture moved back into house from garage . We had reno done . I needed to dust each piece and put felt pads on each one. They were very accomadating and helpful. I am a Senior and cannot move like I use too. I was impressed and that is not easy to accomplish.
If you want a company who will show up with sketchy staff who will chain smoke more than they work , follow no COVID protocols and damage several pieces of your furniture this is the company for you. Their crew dropped our dresser and scratched and bashed several other items. We clearly documented these items. This is a shady company with no customer service
I’ve had 2 Burley Men Moving help on two occasions and both times they were friendly, professional, and efficient. I had fragile items (glassware) moved from one province to another and they arrived in one piece with absolutely no damage. They also helped move big furniture items and were in and out within 30 minutes. They communicated with me every step of the way, and made the process stress-free. 2 Burley Men Moving is the only company I’d go with and recommend to others, they are the best!
2 Burley Men Moving Ltd were spot on in every way. From the moment I contacted them to the final item being moved, we were impressed with the service. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a moving company. Shout out to Jeremy and his one man crew!
The two men who helped us, LH Crew, (Moo & Josh?) we’re amazing! Such light hearted guys who were able to laugh at our awful building manager and help relieve the stress of the day. However, this is the second move with two burley men who’ve had “mechanical issues” and show up insanely late. No fault of our drivers, they were long haulers who could fit us in, but the scheduling is ridiculous. We were scheduled for 9am and didn’t have anyone show until 4pm with no compensation for the insane delay.
Great set of guys. Super hard working and very professional. Very polite as well. I had some very heavy woodworking equipment and they made it look easy! Will definitely call them again. Would definitely recommend them to others.
The move took longer than expected and cost twice as much as quoted. Ensure you get quote in writing before hiring.
I had 3 guys do my move for me. It was a 3 floor walk up apartment. I was VERY grateful with the quality and effort they put in to help me move. I will most definitely use them again and tell everyone how great they where. THANK YOU
I just had a small hutch moved from A home to Storage and it only took 30 minutes but they charged a minimum of one hour Plus 30 minutes for travel?? When they dropped my hutch off on Fairview Rd, they were about 3-5 minutes drive from the Office on Lampson, yet charged me 15 minutes travel?? And if you do this with every move you are gouging Clients!! I paid 1.5 hours for a total of 1.0 hour move. I do not want that older fellow again. The young guy worked but the older fellow was incredibly slow and over charged me, way too much!! No happy with this simple move. I do Not recommend this company for a small move at all.Thank you, Susan J Hay.
Lamont and Gaetan were two very professional young men, they were on time, very likeable individuals. They gave us an update of their plan for us so we had an idea how long everything would take. I have had movers before but I definitely have to say they were the best! No inflated rates when they were finished which has been my experience in the past. Nothing was broken. I would recommend them to anyone moving without hesitation.
The Moving vehicle arrived 1 1/2 late, which didn't mess up our timeline but we didn't receive a phone call letting us know, which was very unprofessional. The 2 men that arrived were very friendly and kind. I did however tell them that the legs of the couches would have to be removed to get them down the stairs, they did not do that and therefore left marks in the drywall. Also the one gentleman carried an entertainment stand on his own and its wasn't till after they left I noticed gouge marks down the one side. Like I said very friendly men but could definitely work on their professionalism and listening to what the customer wants.
We were having our homes main floors partially refinished and the remainder newly installed hardwood. This required a total move out of our main living floor then moving back in 2 weeks later. I am so glad I called 2 Burley Men. on the move out day one of the guys (Rodney) called me to advise the driver was ill and they had to recruit another. He stayed in touch right through to their arrival. As far as I am concerned Rodney should get a medal he was so good. On top of that the driver that arrived was the North Island Manager from Courtenay coming all the way down to Nanaimo. They were professional, skilled and hard working, doing the work in less time than I anticipated. On our move in day Jesse and Martin arrived on time. After a quick assessment of the job they flew at it. Again they were professional, skilled and hard working. Both moves were first class with furniture looked after carefully, work completed efficiently. I think I received great value for the money. Great job guys.
My move was not a big job, moving some items kept in a storage unit in Surrey to Victoria. The storage unit was difficult to access but the 2 Butly Men crew were very professional and friendly. I was sent a confirmation with all necessary details and a follow up phone call the day before the move. They even managed to make the ferry ahead of schedule which saved time and money. 2 Burly Men made this move easy and stress free. I would certainly use their services again.
I moved to the island in October and used 2 Burley men moving. I had a great experience and wanted to use them again. I called them on May 15 to tentatively book either June 3 or 4 as my mom was moving to the island. I knew the time but not the date as she was waiting to hear from U-haul when she would be getting the truck. The representative told me that they would not be busy those days so no worries. Apparently, nothing was booked at all. I called again about a week before the move and told them that I was still not sure the exact date but wanted to book June 3 just in case. I was told to not worry and to let them know as soon as my mom picked up the truck. I called yesterday (June 2) as she had just been told she had the truck and was told by the representative that they are completely booked up and I should have called much earlier. I told him I had emailed them twice and called them twice and was told it would not be a problem. Due to the fact they were so booked up, I needed to take the afternoon off from work, my 65 year old mom and I moved everything in. You have lost a once happy customer. Would not recommend.
Started good. Charge person was focused but the other help did not pay attention so mistakes were made. They did not pack well and I witnessed items falling over in the truck. They damaged some pieces by using them as step up to reach higher items. It was a big move with heavy items. I did appreciate the effort. It might be worth a walk through at the time of booking.
Sean, justin and Kyle were fantastic. They some how were able to move a massive treadmill for us and they were professional and efficient. Highly recommend. Those guys deserve a pay raise.
This moving company was so professional. When booking the move, speaking to the dispatcher was a pleasure. He was very helpful and gave me ideas on how to make things go faster. The movers were on time, respected ever portion of my home and belongings and very pleasant fellows to talk with. I would hire them again with no question. Great fellows, great company!
Last Sunday the movers I had booked didn't show up. I called the company I booked, Calgary Pro Movers... turns out they aren't "pros" after all! When I contacted the company asking why they didn't show they reamed me out on the phone saying it was my fault movers were booked for November instead of October. The man on the phone was rude & disrespectful at the very end of the conversation he then told me he was see what he could do. After that phone conversation I was not impressed with their customer service. I called 2 Burley Men explained how I was left without movers, Jamie was friendly & helpful. Calling last minute to book movers the day of was a long shot but they made it happen! Jamie said the latest he could get movers was 1:30 but would try to get them to me sooner! 2 Burley Men Moving LTD were even trying to get a team together to make this move happen. When I thanked Jamie his only response was "we are happy to help" I am beyond thrilled with their customer service! Movers showed up before 1:30 & were outstanding I highly recommend Vic & Dennis. These men were fast, efficient, & friendly. If you are bye to request movers take my advice & get these guys you won't be disappointed! I will never use another moving company after my experience with 2 Burley Men. They are truly the best going above & beyond to making you move as painless as possible. Thank you for going out of your way to help, you all truly saved the day!!
Paul & Jin from Two Burley Men were extremely helpful, punctual (showed up 5 minutes early :) ), and efficient in helping me move from my old condo to my new condo on February 19, 2021. We even efficiently made a stop at my girlfriends house to swap some furniture. Overall, very happy with this experience and their expertise.
DO NOT hire these guys one of their drivers just literally jumped out of his truck and chased me down the road on foot. Do you want this person in your home? Road rage aggressive and angry no thanks. I await a response from the company a police file has been started
Worst company in the province. Phoned and phoned trying to get a firm date. Was quoted $950 a ton plus scale fee and an extra $750. Scot estimated 4 tons on the phone will not come out to view my husband tried numerous times to get him to come. Moving day on the 10th they tried to come on the 9th first. I ended up having to sign for $950 for a 1000 lbs had no choice both me and my husband have health issues and we had to be out because we sold the house They had other load on truck had to leave so much behind including marble coffee table and end table patio table wheel barrow heater ladder plants canning jars for canning. I was beside myself We finally get to our new house in Topley and they refused to unload without all of the cash. I had been told $4700 give or take depending on scale I had $5000 and $500 in my MasterCard. The bill was $8600. And the couldn’t give me an actual copy of the scale they said the truck weight was 7832 pounds but nothing to prove that. Our stuff was in a different truck police were called over payment because they were going to leave with our belongings. Scot Burley would not answer any text or call every picture and videos has been sent directly to his cell with the damage showing and will not deal with us. He knew we couldn’t do anything else but go with him we both have health issues. I am so disappointed and angry Do not use this company you will be disappointed and hurt
Movers were almost two hours late due to the job prior running long. Movers got to work right away and worked steady until the job was done. They had great advice about getting additional storage space. I would use these movers again.
I moved from Vancouver Island to Calgary, AB. With flooding and road closures moving east, the guys, truck and belongings eventually arrived, with boxes looking in very bad condition. The extended delay was totally out of their control. However, I had packed really well.Only a couple of things broke that hadn't enough packing material. At pick up, driver Kenny Rice and helper, Soloman were great. Kenny kept me in the loop as to their progress and delays. You really have to pack your belongings well or expect losses. I'd use this company again.
First off the drivers and loaders were great. No complaints there. The Issues were: not being told about an extra $1200 I would be charged after my belongings were already loaded and shipped , Next were damages to a very expensive bicycle and a brand new carpet cleaner and the loss of a very sentimental item. What I am being compensated doesn’t even begin to cover what I have to have repaired.
I used 2Burley Men for our move from Calgary to Vernon. Kenny and Avesta were excellent! They wrapped every piece of furniture, took extreme care not to band into walls etc, and went the extra mile to help set up the furniture when it arrived. Highly recommend then!
2 very hardworking guys helped unload my moving van with short notice. Very helpful but very, very expensive.
They overcharged me by $75 and I must have phoned them 7 times and no one would get back to me
We used them 2x in one week and won't use this company ever again. The guys on site were great except for one gentlemen who seemed to have difficulties with excessive sweat - it was a very hot day and I gave them lots of water, but I also had to clean up pools of perspiration from the floor #verygross. They were 2 hrs late and NEVER called us - so are NOT proactive communicators. It really stressed me out and we had to spend more $ for dog sitter and cleaners due to the 2 hr delay, and 2BM did not compensate us. If we hadn't called to ask where they were, I honestly do not think they would have called. When we first called them to get a quote, and when we called to confirm we asked BOTH TIMES if boxes that we packed were covered by their insurance - both times they said yes. Then on the move days we had to sign a waiver form that listed all the exclusions - you guessed it - nothing we packed was covered. Also in their waiver were over 75% of what we had in our home - I wish they would have shared their waiver ahead of time - a good lesson learned. In the second move the truck that arrived late had broken glass everywhere, the blankets were in a dump/pile with tape and cardboard all over the place - very dirty. Also, in the first move they broke a standing fan and only paid us $22 for it when it cost us $50 only 2 months previous - a very nickel-and-dime approach which proves they do not value customer service. Their service is very skewed to protect their company and does little for the Movees. My biggest issue is the poor Customer Service and complete lack of communication. I do not recommend them.
This is a stellar company, they made an extremely stressful move from the mainland to Victoria go as smoothly as possible. They treated our belongings respectfully when wrapping and moving. They were on time and gave us a heads up phone call with an eta both mornings. We will hire this company again. Job well done guys!
Jason and his team moved my grand piano from the island to the mainland. They were fantastic! They were on time and professional, and the move was a better price than expected. I really appreciate all their hard work. Thanks so much!
I cannot say enough about the integrity and work ethic of Barry and Patrick. I under estimated the magnitude of my move, so it became a larger job than expected, yet these two gents were patient, respectful, and two of the hardest working guys I have ever met. High praise and gratitude to you both - and thank you 2 Burley Men, I am so glad I chose you!
This is my first ever online review as it's not my cup of tea. But the 2 burley men company made me write one as they managed to turn a simple moving into a nightmare. They didn't show up the day they supposed to, and didn't even bother to inform me that they can't make it. After causing a lot of trouble, it took 11 days to move my stuff from Calgary to Vancouver. During this time, living in an empty apartment, I was calling them every day with a simple question: when my stuff will be delivered? When I called them, they either refused to answer, provided wrong conflicting info, hung up the phone, and finally sent me a text message asking not to contact anymore and just wait as long as it takes. Their level of rudeness in communication was just unbelivable. After all, they charged me more than double than their original estimate providing a scale receipt with no information to identify the truck. They also left behind two items that didn't beloyng to me, and obviously didn't care when I informed them about the matter. I strongly advise avoiding this company even if your timing is such that you can't find anotherone with availability. There's a reason why they are available when other companies are not.
Not Recommended - Poor Service, damaged goods, extremely expensive 1. Actual cost was 3x the estimate, no way of confirming weight, even though pictures of the load were provided for estimate. 2. Damage to hardwood at loading point, loader dragged bed across floor 3. Exercise bike was damaged, pieces missing. 4. Plastic storage boxes were crushed 5. No way of knowing if we received all of our goods
Not only did my furniture delivery from 2 Burley Men Moving take 8 days instead of the quoted 3-6 which cost me money because I had to buy things that I was waiting for, but I also found the following issues after unpacking my things: •a broken patio table (a wooden piece that has snapped right off as well as a ding on the side of it) •a filthy headboard that I had to get professionally cleaned •missing handles from my dresser that cannot be replace and ding on the side of it •missing attachment/head to my vacuum cleaner, rendering it useless •one missing ski pole •a shattered glass picture frame •someone else's pillows which concerns me that some of my things may be missing and I have yet to realize •a random piece of wood that has most likely broken off of someone else's furniture which goes to show this was not an isolated event and within the same truck things were snapping off of other people's furniture. On top of that, the customer service was lacking. When I would call to check on the whereabouts of my things I was told I couldn't be assisted because I didn't have my drivers name memorized. Call me crazy but wouldn't you think that the company that you hired to move your things would know who is driving them and where they are? I got refunded a whopping $273 for all of the issues listed which didn't even cover the cost of a new vacuum cleaner which is one measly bullet point on the list. Needless to say, I do not recommend this company. Pay a little bit more to another moving company and save yourself a massive headache and loss of $$ in the end
Prompt and on time.. will highly recommend.
I had left an excellent review for 2 Burley Men maybe it did not go through. They were amazing. Efficient, professional and did a Great move from Victoria to Duncan on May 18. They were very experienced. Great men I had were Matt and Mike. They were the best movers I ever had to move me. It is a great company. Caroline deJongh
We had a great experience with 2 Burley Men - we have moved across the country a great deal, our experiences have been great, as with 2 Burley Men. They were able to accommodate our requests, they were efficient and took care of our belongings. We also had our things in storage for the month while waiting for our new place. When we got our place early, 2 Burley Men was able to move up to date for move in, as someone had cancelled. This company will go the distance with your requests. Thank you to @ Burley Men!!!
I used them to move homes and then clean the vacated home. Movers worked hard and were good to deal with. Transparent process and lined up with quotation. Showed up on time and took care to complete the work. I would recommend and use again. Cleaners showed up late, without supplies and did not finish nor communicate not finishing the job. I would not recommend.
We got Lucas and Paul Q as our movers. They were super fast and personable, and got the job done at exactly what we were quoted. Despite a staircase that was too small, a couch that we're legit not sure how we got into the old place in the first place and having to move everything up the only elevator in the building when it wasn't in use, they stayed positive and got everything done in good time. Awesome movers, would recommend.
DO NOT HIRE FOR LONG HAUL SERVICES 2 Burley Men lied to us, did not apologize, was not easily reachable, and should consider not providing a long haul service. I hired 2 burley men for my move within BC in order to make my move as stress free as possible. This was not the case. I gave the company two weeks to deliver my belongings. When I called the day before my items were to arrive I was told by staff that they had no idea where my belongs were, but to wait for the movers to call the next day for an ETA. I heard nothing the day when my things we supposed to arrive or the day after, after leaving multiple messages for 2 burley men. My message was returned two days after my belongings were set to be delivered to say my stuff will not be able to be delivered until two weeks from then as they had forgotten about my move. No apology was offered. Again, my stuff was not delivered on my second expected delivery date. I was told that I misunderstood, and that he meant that my stuff was being picked up from the Fraser valley on that day and would be delivered the next day. When I called in the afternoon that day after not hearing anything from the drivers, I was told that I had misunderstood again and to await the drivers call. My belongings arrived 16 days after my expected delivery date. When my belongings did arrive my stuff was packed to the roof of a truck with another person's stuff in it. Boxes were falling out of the truck. A few of my things were broken-but thankfully nothing valuable. I will not be using 2 Burley Men again, nor will I be recommending them. Thank you 2 burly men for the poor experience.
Andrew and Thaine did a great job working together as a team. Although the overall packing of our large uHaul took more time than expected, they both had great attention to detail. They wrapped most of our newer/larger/expensive pieces, and everything made it across country undamaged. Thank you again for your positive attitudes and professionalism. Good luck to you both. It was a pleasure meeting you.
We loved the guys that came out to help us move. Very personable! Would definitely use again!!
Thank you to Scott and his team for making my move yesterday such an easy experience. Tim and Dale were exceptional in taking away all the usual stress of moving. Thanks to all
Nothing but a horrible time, DO NOT EVER work for 2 burley men or use them for your move, i worked for 2 burley men for about 6 month’s, as a long haul driver and swamper you will be under paid and forced to work unrealistic hours, no sleep, paying for your own motel even if you’re by yourself, and yes a MOTEL and only paid up to $120 a night but every room I’ve had has came out of my cheque, if you even get paid, scott the owner will yell at you and call you out in front of who ever is around if you don’t meet his unrealistic expectations, as for your moving experience it’s a 50/50 chance it’ll be good, most people that are hired don’t know anything, you will end up will your stuff broken, scratched/scuffed, lost or day’s to week’s without showing up at all and then charging people for storage and transfers that aren’t needed, the truck’s are another story, motors that hardly run, burning oil (that will come off your cheque when you refill it) no a/c is +40 weather, exhaust brakes that don’t work, loose steering, dry rotted/ripped tires (i know a couple mechanics personally, they both said a certain truck would NEVER pass an inspection) there for scott is 100% paying off guy’s to “pass” an inspection, all in all DO NOT use 2 burley men for your move and unless you like never sleeping, sleeping more then you make, wondering if you’re actually going to get paid or not and being forced to do unrealistic work, DON’T EVER work for scott
So disappointed in this moving company. They broke our fire table that was valued at $2500. They gave us $105. I would never ever recommend this company to anyone.
All around the worst experience. I booked them July 18th for a Sept 1st move. They never showed or called, they were suppose to be there at 9am. I ended up calling them and they were running behind from a move from the day before. They showed up at 330PM. By the time we got to the new place it was after 9PM because they were so late to begin with. The driver was unable to make a turn on my road with his 36 foot truck even though Sleep countries 40 foot truck had no problem at all. They some how backed into someone's fence on the road as well. They ended up leaving. The next day I heard nothing so I called around and I eventually got Cheryl who deals with these situations and she said they were loading a smaller truck for me and I had to just wait all day/night until they showed up because she couldn't give me a time. I told her I was a single mom with a 5 year old and they had my furniture. She asked if there was somewhere I could drop my kid off (there wasn't). I got a call at 9pm and they said they would be there at 9am the next day, they never showed. They showed sometime after 12pm with the same truck. I had to go find a Uhaul because they refused to even try it. I had to spend $100 on a uhaul and I missed 3 days of work and was without my stuff for 3 days. They then billed me for $1700 way above the quote because of their mistakes. The owner Scott was even going to stop by because it was such a messy situation so the drivers said he was going to stop by and he never did. When I called to complain Cheryl said it was all my fault and that it wasn't their responsibility to even refund the uhaul amount. I am going to seek legal advise today as I have no where to go but here.
They were actually early which was great! Super happy with everything, I would hire again for sure.
Very good. The men worked very hard for the pick up and relocation of furniture. They cared and did not take breaks. They were careful with the items and seemed to want to be as helpful as possible.
Excellent service. I would highly recommend this business for a move. They were very friendly and efficient. I have the couch from hell, and they were so patient and determined. No regrets with hiring movers to do the work. Thank you!!!
I got a quote from these guys, they seemed very helpful and professional. Hopefully I can get a move booked with them soon but it's a short-notice condo possession unfortunately, so they might not have spots left. I'm sure I'll probably be using them in the future though.
2 Burley Men provided great service to us. We moved on a very cold day from Calgary to Beaumont. The 2 men, Moo and Steve were great. They handled our furniture and boxes with care. We did not see any damage after we have opened the boxes and arranged the furniture. They were loading and unloading in a safe yet expeditious manner. From start to finish it was a very reasonable time. I would recommend them to anyone and would use them again if we ever move again.
TERRIBLE COMPANY FOR LONG DISTANCE MOVING in CANADA My family and I recently moved from Calgary to Sooke and I have multiple items of feedback: 1) Initial Underestimate: When we booked the service it was done over the phone and we were asked minimal questions about how many belongings we thought we had. I was assured that the truck was much larger than their estimate for our belongings and it would fit. As soon as the movers arrived it was apparent that it would not fit, as the truck was already 75% full with other people's belongings. We didn't receive the second half of our belongings until 9 days later than the agreed upon date. We were charged an additional $500 for a transfer fee due to the initial underestimate. 2 Burley Men refuses to reimburse us this fee. 2) Communication and Coordination Issue: More than once, employees were very rude over the phone and they also struggled to communicate when our belongings would be dropped off. For example, we were asked if we could change the drop off date from Oct 15th to the 14th. We were not able to, because we didn't have possession of the house on the 14th. The person on the phone was not kind, and said that we might have to wait until the 18th for our first truck of belongings. He said he would get back to us about when the truck would arrive. We tried calling and didn't hear back until the morning of the 15th when the movers called to say they would be at the house in an hour. This is not acceptable and caused unnecessary stress for us and the movers. 3) We found chewing tobacco stuck to some of our belongings. DISGUSTING AND UNACCEPTABLE!! On a positive note, most of the movers we saw in person were kind and professional.
They did a great job moving our condo content to our hike up island. Looking back, I would have liked to have 3 men instead of just 2.
The experience went better than expected I was called earlier than expected and asked if we could move the time for the pick up an hour sooner which wasn't a problem. I meet with the two Burly Men and they got stuck into the as soon as we exchanged pleasantries. In less than an hour every thing was on the truck and we were off. When we arrived at the destination again less than an hour with patients and care they were done. I would recommend Two Burly Men for your moving needs. John
My girlfriend and I bought a new house and I decided to hire a moving company to get us from A to B. After seeing their advertising for years throughout the city I opted for Burley Men. I booked them for noon as we didn't get possession of the house until 2pm. It started when I got a call before 8am saying they were having trouble on their first job and would have to get another crew. My team would be there a bit earlier, maybe around 10. OK, I'm flexible. They showed up at 9. With a 1-ton. To do a 2 bedroom condo. They'd try to get a bigger truck. No such luck. Another truck can come and get the rest. Nope. Across town to the house, back to the condo, and back to the house. Finally done after 7 hours!! Can we get an adjustment on the rate because you had the wrong truck? One hour off. They broke some of our stuff. OK put in a claim for it. For something valued at over $100 they offered less than $5. No thanks. Ever
2 Burley Men were the best. The move was completely stress free. The 3 movers, Ben, Dillon and Tim were completely professional and were very careful with my furniture. I would recommend 2 Burley Men to everyone. The office staff was also friendly and called during the move to ensure thjngs were going well. Thank you Ben, Dillon and Tim!
This company is excellent kind compassionate and professional. I have moved more than once with this company and they have been amazing. Thanks to all the guys for making my move a positive experience SandieM
Took far too long to move us...broken dishes due to poor packing...careless men who are very inexperienced...now trying to pad the bill for "missed charges "
We used 2 Burley Men to move from The Lower Mainland to Rossland. Steve and Donovan were exceptional! They were friendly, professional, and ridiculously efficient. We are very grateful for their help and we would recommend this team to anyone. Thanks again guys!
Would NOT recommend this moving company. Terrible service. The company kept trying to move the pickup date on me, even though I had an contracted date in writing, and I had stressed it was my only option to move. The gentleman I spoke with even intimated I was ruining the Christmas of other customers if I didn't change my pickup date. Christmas!?! Unbelievable. At the end this company spokesperson began threatening the size of my move saying, "sure hope it isn't going to be over the pound limit" to the point where I didn't feel like my household belongings would be safe with this company, they would show up on the contracted date, or that I would mysteriously be over the weight limit and have to pay exorbitant fees on top of my contract. Again, would NOT recommend this moving company.
Tell you very honest feedback for 2 Burley Men Moving company. Without Donny.M and Tim C, I would be struggling my self to the cliff, move all my belongings very efficiently. Donny and Tim are extremely friendly, professional, and I will guarantee their work and there is no doubt at all. I want to thank again to Donny and Tim for being such a professional movers and accommodate all the needs. Next time when I call 2 Burley Men, I will look for these two professionals period.
TERRIBLE, Untrustworthy and disorganized. When I booked my appointment with staff everybody was cordial and responsive. On the day of the move they came short staffed, did not bring the appropriate size truck based on agreement, and they came late. The move was extended from 1 to 2 days and charges were racking up. I finally made it deal with the manager And paid with my credit card. My payment agreement was witnessed by the driver and staff of the company, but because they are subcontractors, they can’t do anything to help. A few days later somebody from Toronto called and said I have only paid part of the bill! This company is not trustworthy They have damaged a lot of my goods and they did not deliver what they promised. They will not allow me to file a claim for the damages!!!!! I would not recommend this company to anybody for moving. I had to give one star in order to submit my review, but they do not deserve even one star. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY You responding with your apology is not good enough. You won’t let me file a claim for over $5000 of damages.
The experience was very good start to finish. Booking was easy and the sent confirmation of the appointment. The 2 movers showed up on time and ready to work. I’d be happy to use them again.
Used for a short, local move. Timely, efficient. Made quick work of everything! Would use again.
I don't usually write reviews. They quoted me a rate, then charged me double that, as a "minimum" charge. Please avoid this company
Contacted the company with the details of my move and was emailed a quote and was instructed to call to book when ready. When I called to book the move I was quoted a higher price than the original quote. When I brought it to their attention they would not honor their original quote. What is the point of giving a quote if you do not honor it? Seemed like a cash grab to me.....! Would not use this company if they cannot stick to “their” price.
DO NOT USE 2 BURLEY MEN! This company has the worst customer service I have ever had to witness. So, we booked our move from B.C. to Alberta 2.5 weeks before the date to make sure it was all good and we were told we would get a call the day …
Initially there was a concern as the dates got mixed up. I needed December 27-29 but there was some miscommunication issue and was booked for January 28 instead. I was very grateful and put at ease and they managed to get my client in for the next day. Dustin and his coworker were very personable and did a great job of staying professional under a not very good situation. It was more expensive then the quote, however they had to deal with an unruly bed ???? This was not my first time using this company and will not be the last!
Excellent experience using this moving company. They were affordable, professional, and reliable. I hope I don't have to move again at any time soon, but when I do, I will use this company for their services.
Not impressed: I phoned them for a quote and was given a quote, but I could not confirm as I wasn't sure my house had sold. Phoned them again when my house was sold: the person I spoke with had no clue which move I was talking about, had to look for it, when he found it he gave me a different quote and I requested to have this confirmed in an email. I got the move confirmed but not the quote, so I requested a quote again. Then I got a call from someone else, who could not find the move and when he did he gave me a different quote. When I requested it in an email I got very little information. This made me uncomfortable so I cancelled the move, which was confirmed by this business in an email. Three days before my actual move (which I now did myself) they phoned me and asked for the address where they had to be that Thursday, so I said it had been cancelled. The next day I got another call asking for the address and confirming the time and date, so again I told them it was cancelled and that they had actually confirmed it by email! I have the feeling the left hand there doesn't know what the right hand is doing and I do not recommend them.
Amazing, but under the circumstances over twice the quoted price and typically communications are their problem. These men worked so hard, but didn't have the business infrastructure to function in a timely manner. Covid impacts made this my worst move ever. Charley was the best of the team, intuitive, intelligent and diligent this polite young man deserves an award. I did have 2 Burley Men, but paid for 3. 11 hours for less than 3/4 of a load.
Thanks so much 2 Burley Men! The crew who helped us with our move were amazing. They were very efficient, pleasant and helpful. If we move again (hopefully we will not be!) we will most certainly call them again. We highly recommend 2 Burley Men.
The movers were in contact with me an hour prior to my booked time to discuss arrival and parking options. They showed up when they said they would and got to work right away. They were professional, efficient and very nice to talk to. They moved our apartment from one place to another (wrap, load, unload and unwrap) in under two hours. Very happy with the service provided
I had them move my one bedroom apartment form Victoria up to Nanaimo. The two movers were quick and efficient and took great care of my items.
Poor experience to say the least. The whole booking to drop off process is quite tentative and poorly conducted/organized. There is absolutely no paperwork provided at the time the items are picked up (no email. no hard copy paperwork or any estimates in writing). They simply send contractors to pick up the stuff who are quite unprofessional and do not wear masks at all. They went in and out of the apartment with their shoes on and with booties or other form of protection for the carpets inside the condo. Both movers had a strong smell of cigarettes and alcohol - the way they were conducting themselves and the incoherent way of carrying the items out, they seemed under the influence to me. Not only did I find this unprofessional but also unsafe and concerned for my items being moved. They took 4.5 hours to get the items out of a 1 bedroom condo and had the front of the building and the sidewalk covered with my house items. The moving company seems to take the lest amount of ownership in the whole transaction. I was missing a few valuable items and they showed absolutely no care or ownership for the lost items. I don;t know how they're in business treating their customers so poorly. I would strongly recommend you STAY AWAY from this moving company to save yourself frustration and your valuable house items. DO NOT EXPECT any type of customer service of any quality.
I have been extremely paitent with this company. On my first acheduled moving day, they said they needed time to deop off a child at day care, no problem. Pushed back an hour. After that, uta oh we have to gas up, put oil in the truck then we are on our way. Another 45 mins go bu, no communication. Finally got a hold of Kevin, and he said oh yeah we are picking up a swamper. We will see you soon. I waited at my storage unit for 50 mins. No communication. After waiting on hold, many unasnwered phonw calls to them, i finally get an answer: only one mover showed up. I have to reschedule booking times for elevator use at my building. Next date is 4 days later. I now have already checked out of a hotel and staying in my empty apartment. No bed. No pillow. Just clothing from my suitcase. Today is now the second move in date. No confirmation call, email or text. I supplied them with 2 phone numbers, ive sent text messages- no response. Ive called to remind them of my 1pm appt at 1230pm, still no call back. I am filled with anxiety and fear that i will not have my bed tonight. Besides not showing up, its the complete lack of professionalism and communication. Moving provinces is stressful enough, then adding a incompentent moving company on top of that is absolutely brutal to say the least. I will be persuing this further. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY.
If you want to pay a bunch of money for two guys to come late and ruin all of your things, you’ve found the right company. Paid way more money than they said it would be originally and they ruined a lot of our furniture (IKEA furniture is not covered so I think they were really rough with it), they also broke a lot of stuff that wasn’t IKEA. They dented the hallway walls of our old and new place, came late, disassembled all of our furniture and didn’t put it back together when they dropped our stuff off. Overall, wouldn’t recommend.
Trust them to be late, lose and damage your things and be completely unapologetic about it. Terrible customer service, would give zero stars if I could.
Unfortunately, I made the mistake of calling another (National) mover before calling 2 Burley Men. (I booked an appointment for consultation, and I should have clued in when the call centre was 1/2 way across the country). Long story short the other one was a great disappointment; they came to assess contents, then left me high and dry. They would not move me. So I called 2 Burley Men, which booked me in right away. Amir and Justin could not have been more professional, and personable. They took great care with all of my glass cabinets, antique furnishings, and heavy items. They worked efficiently and effectively. 2 Burley Men will be my first call next time I move, for sure!
From the incredible service I had booking my moves to the fabulous experience I had with the movers themselves, I would 10/10 recommend Two Burley Men. Josh and Marcus were thoughtful, personable, and as the name implies, strong! From start to finish they handled my home possessions with care and attention. My only regret is that I can’t use them again sooner than later! But I’m pleased that my family member will be for her move next month, based on my recommendation :) Thank you Josh and Marcus!
Lower cost than other movers but your belongings will be stacked, thrown around, and dragged through the dirt like garbage going to the dump. Your furniture will not arrive in the same condition as it left. Complaining is futile and at most they will offer compensation equal to one night's hotel stay which you will need when they don't show up on time. In my opinion this company should not be in business and next time I will definitely spend more for a real moving company which will treat my belongings with respect.
We moved across town and hired 2 Burley Men to get our big furniture over to our new home. They worked fast and were super friendly! They ended up saving us a ton of time and money since we didn't need to do trips to drop off large furniture at the thrift store or the dump. The rates were incredibly fair and it was only a couple hundred dollars more than renting a moving truck and doing it all myself. I'd hire them again in a heartbeat!
I scheduled my recent local move with this company and had the most awful experience. Despite getting a phone confirmation two days before the move, and an email confirmation with the right time the day before, the company "lost" my reservation due to a "computer error." The movers arrived half a day late - 15 minutes before I was to give up possession and after my cleaner had left (who was unable to finish since everything was still there). I had originally booked to be the first move of the day to avoid any stress and to accommodate minor delays. The movers (once finally there) were friendly, worked incredibly hard and tried to go really fast since I had to get out of my place with the people moving in waiting in the parking lot. However, in the rush the movers broke so much of my stuff (I've included just a couple pictures here) and damaged my floors. The company did not offer me any discount or anything for causing so much trouble. I burst into tears at several points during the day because everything was such a nightmare. I will never be using this company again - even without all the damage, the stress was too much.
I hired this company to move some boxes of books and boxes of unassembled furniture from Calgary to Vancouver Island. They came on time and said they would be delivering it in a few days. Two weeks later they had no idea where my items were. Eventually they said it was still in Calgary in storage. Two weeks after that they said they found it and it would arrive in a few days. Even though every box was clearly numbered they managed to lose three boxes. I am now out of pocket for the cost of the new furniture as their claims only cover a percentage of the cost of transport. I mean really, how difficult is it to ship and deliver some clearly marked boxes? This company has billboards all up and down the highway and say they make weekly trips. But they don't have a system to insure they have everything? They are obviously extremely incompetent, disorganized and irresponsible. I will never use them again and will tell everybody I know in Calgary and on Vancouver Island what a useless joker of a moving company this is. And to Burley Men: Hire a consultant to sort out your system why don't you? After all these years you don't know how to do it right. Pathetic!
Patrick H and Kyle M arrived on time for moving some of our furniture from mid island to the south of the island. They had departed from Victoria very early to arrive at out home by 08:30 hrs as promised. They work quickly and efficiently as a team to wrap and load our furniture. They arrived at our destination on time and quickly unloaded the furniture and delivered it, with no damage, into the apartment. Very quick, efficient and pleasant to work with. A very positive experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend these 2 individuals to friends. A credit to their company.
Re: Fraser Valley location. Showed up two hours late with no notification, I had to call the headquarters personally to determine an ETA. Refused to wear masks despite public health orders and writer's repeated request. The only positive remark I have is that they worked somewhat efficiently. Would not recommend in future.
I was totally pleased with the awesome service provided by 2 Burley Men on my moving day. The 2 employees that moved my things arrived 15 minutes prior to my scheduled time and were friendly, pleasant and very efficient which is something that I have never experienced from other moving companies. They took great care of insuring that there was no damage done to any of my belongings and were quite professional. My move was completed in 2 hours because they were focused on getting me moved in a timely fashion and did not waste any time by dilly dallying to make extra money. They really made my moving day enjoyable by alleviating my stress. When they completed my move they wished me all the best in my new residence. All in all it was a great experience and I would highly recommend 2 Burley Men.
We hired 2 Burley Men based on word of mouth - and it was the best thing we could have done. Ken and Rob arrived right on time, they were courteous, efficient, and very careful with our things (and our house). Nothing seemed to phase them - …
The crew that moved me were amazing. Professional, personable, and hard working. They made my move less stressful. Highly recommend these guys.
Geoff,Mike and Sheldon unloaded my seacan. They were professional and friendly. If I move again I will be contacting 2 Burley men!
Shane, lead hand along with Justin and Prince showed up promptly. Great to be a bit early and we were ready for them. Polite, careful and ready to get our move done. They took great care of moving my piano, glass table top and marble table top as well as all our household possessions. A downsize move well executed. Very hard working men. I highly recommend these men and 2 Burley Men Moving. Move from Royal Oak to Sidney.
Worst movers EVER. Broken ANTIQUE furniture, broke a table lamp, floor lamp, chair, side table, China cabinet door, scratches on literally EVERYTHING. And the guys moving literally hid broken items so we wouldn’t see. Left blankets covering smashed photo frames and art. They don’t want to compensate.
My daughter moved on Saturday and we are so grateful for the excellent service. Dustin and Avesta were the best movers we have ever had, and may I say, I have had quite a few movers in my time. They were so careful, skillful and both are wonderful young men. We enjoyed the entire experience and are very grateful for the reasonable charges for such a stellar team. Definitely recommending with the highest ratings. Could not have been a more perfect move! Thank you so much Dustin and Avesta. ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
2 Burley Men Buyer Beware!!! We had a horrific experience with this company trying to move into our Nanaimo apartment on Monday, January 10, 2022. On Saturday, we contacted this company about an off-load of our possessions from a U-Haul truck. A very happy-go-lucky guy told us it was no problem at all to do the job on Monday afternoon at 1pm as his crew was on another job in the morning. (He failed to tell us that 1pm was an estimated time.) So I and my wife showed up a bit early to start off-loading boxes that we could handle before the crew came. Well, by 2pm, no one showed, so I called. A fellow said that the crew had a bigger job than expected. Any idea of when they might make it? No. Could the crew call us to give me a possible update soon? No. 3pm rolls around and no one shows up. Called again for a possible update. No again. 3:15pm comes and goes. Called again. We were told the crew would be there in about an hour. Wrong. Called again. No new information. Called again at 5pm. We were told one crew member went home and not sure what the excuse was for the other burley guy. Called by Kevin at 5:21pm, first call from them to us, who was trying to put together another crew for us. Said he would call back in 15 minute which was actually 40 minutes. Crew showed up at 6pm with no moving equipment. We provided that. It's now dark. Crew worked hard and finished by 10:15 pm. No covid protocols in place after the 1st hour. Only cost $733.00!! Crew told me to call Cheryl if we felt we deserved some financial compensation for our frustration and stress caused by management's lack of communication and failure to provide service in a timely manner. We called her on the 12th. Cheryl wasn't in the least bit interested in any such thing. We were asked to send her a copy of the way bill and she would get back to us. It's now the 29th of January. No surprise that we haven't heard anything. Guess we just have to take our lumps and move on. In our opinion, this company has no concept of servicing the client. Had they been upfront, we could have tried to arrange for another company to help us out, instead of leading us on all afternoon. Or they could have attempted to contact another mover for us. But that would be classy customer service, wouldn't it? Is it realistic to consider 6pm to be within the realm of a 1pm estimate? The lack of communication was over the top. Seemed to us that we were there to serve them, not the other way around. I am 74 years old and have never been treated so poorly doing business with countless businesses over the years. Do business with them if you wish, but buyer beware!
The two gentleman that came to my home to help me were very respectful professional helpful overall a good move thank you
5 bright and shining stars for the wonderful service of Mike 1 and Mike 2 from 2 Burley Men who arrived precisely on time at our downtown Calgary condo and packed us up for Part 1 of our move to Quebec with surprising efficiency. My daughter said the two men worked together like a symphony. They were so respectful, thoughtful, and encouraging of each other and of us. I highly recommend 2 Burley Men and thank you so much for such fabulous service! Enter Rick and Glenn for Part 2 of our service in which 2 Burley Men arranged for Mover Canada.com (long distance mover) to take care of the rest. Super polite, super efficient, and professional, Gary and Rick did a magnificent job.
BEWARE - CUSTOMER SERVICE IS UNTRUSTWORTHY! Hired these guys to move us from Alberta to Victoria last month, and while most of the move went ok, when we unloaded the last few items, that were packed into the very tail end of the truck next to the back doors, we noticed the packing blankets were soaked - primarily wrapping up the sectional sofa and master bedroom wood bed frame. Unpacking the bed frame we could immediately see water damage to the wood rails and slats - water staining, cracking, depressions and water absorption, warping, etc. This was immediately brought to the crews attention, as I handed them the soaked blanket, and they to my face acknowledged the damage and instructed that I should note it on the backside of the white copy of the waybill. Fortunately the sofa did not receive lasting damage, only needing a couple of days to dry out. Good time to point out the trip through the mountains was quite mild and very wet/rainy, and I suspect the truck box either leaks at the back by the doors, or the catches at the tops of the doors were not fully engaged allowing water to leak into the truck box. After initially reporting to customer service and being told the claim is rejected as the guys flat out lied and said nothing was reported, I insisted the customer service rep retrieve the white copy of the waybill. After a week or so passed they finally got back to us stating they had the copy, gave no explanation on the guys initial false reporting, and stuck to their initial decision to reject the claim. We had acted in good faith at the time of invoicing, paying in full, expecting that any damages would be dealt with professionally and honestly - that was NOT the case. Very poor customer service and a company in my opinion not to be trusted.
Mohamed and Paul were on time, efficient, careful, and friendly. Could not have asked for better service.
We had a long haul move with 2 Burley Men. The movers themselves did a good job of loading and unloading. Unfortunately the service in terms of communication was very poor. We had our things stored for a month and were told they were on a truck to be delivered, but on the day they were supposed to arrive we were told that they actually had not even left the original destination. It ended up being 5 days late with $350 worth of items that were lost with no explanation. We were offered $16 for compensation. We made multiple calls to try to figure out when the stuff would arrive and what was happening with the lost items and more often than not we would not get a call back. An apology and an honest effort to make up for their mistakes would have gone a long way.
Where to begin….pickup one full day late. When we phoned Scott he was extremely rude like it was my fault?! They than tried to deliver at other end before we got possession at the first of the month. So they unloaded truck in warehouse for a day and than reloaded causing items to go missing. Some delivered, some despite confirmation from driver in writing he had items we never received. So we get 60 cents Per pound due to their incompetence so approx $60 for at least $400 worth of missing items. In summary Do Not Use.
***PROCEED WITH CAUTION*** I hired this company to move furniture out of a furnished tenanted apartment I had sold in Vancouver. There was a tight turnaround between tenant vacancy and possession by new owners. I was relying on Two Burly Men to get the job done. I was assured they would. The move was scheduled for a Monday afternoon. I received a confirmatory e-mail the Sunday prior confirming the move was a go. At around 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening I received a call during dinner advising that, due to the anticipated heat, 2 Burly Men could no longer guarantee my move. I was advised to make 'alternative arrangements'. The employee was unapologetic and did not seem to appreciate the absurdity of trying to make 'alternate arrangements' less than 12 hours before a scheduled move. They left me in the lurch! In a panic I scrambled to borrow a truck and moved all the furniture myself, with my 65 year old father-in-law. We managed to get the job done though we both have been in some pain since. We are not professional movers. I entrusted and relied on this company to make this move for me, so I did not breach my own contractual obligations. I thought I had peace of mind. I called the following day to express my discontent. I was forwarded to a woman somewhere in Ontario. The woman was completely unempathetic. I asked whether there would be any gesture of goodwill given this terrible experience. I was told they could offer 15% off my next move. For obvious reasons, I would never use this company again. This company seems to struggle from systemic apathy toward their customers' experience. I was told repeatedly 'it's hot' but the weather forecast was available for weeks. It was common knowledge we were expecting higher than normal temperatures. Why should I bear the consequences of their poor planning. Two Burly Men were not so burly after all. Perhaps 'Fair Weather Movers Inc.' would be more apt. I do not recommend.
