The crew was one hour late past the time window. The job ran overtime and cost considerably more than the estimate. Be aware that they charge you a material cost for stretch wrap. Ours was $35.00 Also, i did not read the fine print so it came as a surprise that they actually charge you $25.00 surcharge when you pay by credit. I would not have hired them had i known this.

This was my first move with number 1 movers and if I ever have to move again, I'll be sure to call on them again. Gays were so professional and careful to mask and follow all safety precautions. They were so meticulous about wrapping and padding my belongings before loading, that there was absolutely nothing damaged or out of place. Not only did they get my move done in the time quoted, we also finished before a predicted snow storm. There is no way I would ever recommend this company. The reason that I wouldn't choose this company ever again is our cross country move. We were given a two day delivery window and made our plans around those dates (flights, accommodations, possession date, etc). When they didn't show up within their window we called and they said the possessions hadn't even left the original city! They told us it could be a week, a month, they didn't know. Now we are stuck with an empty house with no place to sleep and nothing to cook with. Worst of all is the uncertainty of when we can settle in.

Heaven sake do not ever call these movers!!!!!! It’s absolute scam! Horrible delivery, damaged more or less everything they brought to home. Half the time they are either chatting or having coffee! Also damaged neighbours lawn and we ended up resolving that as well. If you are taking their storage, it’s is so dirty that you probably have to throw the stuff out!!! Please.please please do not encourage this kind of work and unprofessionalism!!!! Really request you to never call this people and I’m filing a complaint as well!

This was one of the worst experiences of my life. Where should I begin, Number 1 Movers moved are pick up date from aug.26/28. We told them we had to be on the road no later than 1 pm, they were suppose to arrive around 10 am. they showed up at 9pm, was lied to all day by there office staff. Being told they were running late but would be at our house soon. That night asked the movers how often they talked to the office, reply we haven't talked to them all day, we were in Montreal and there was no chance we could pick up your stuff till much later. nice way to treat your customers. Wait it gets better when I called at 3:30 I was told that she check with the movers and call me right back. I called back an hour later, I was told she was busy and hadn't called them yet. I would expect a little bit of urgency when you are over 6 hours late. Management Team didn't seem to care, damaged goods that they only paid a portion of, lost items we ended up having to organize picking up because they didn't bother and had been sitting in another customers living room for three weeks. Apparently it's on the customer to organize getting our stuff back that was delivered to the wrong address. my recommendation Stay Away from this company they are ignorant, service challenged and no concern for there clients or what they are Moving for you. my real rating -5 absolutely brutal service! my suggestion this company doesn't respect anyone's time or belongings, avoid at all cost.

Chris and the rest of his team kept good communications since I requested a quote to the day of the moving, they helped me disarm my kid's bunk-bed as well as the king size bed frame, moved it and put it together, they took their time but all the items were delivered in good condition. I will highly recommend them and will for sure call them on my next move.... ** Edit ** the only thing is 1 lamp and a coat rack were broken (no big deal here, but I would have appreciated them letting me know rather than not saying anything and they have left behind a bunch of furniture covers than unsure if they want them back or not....

UNRELIABLE AND DISORGANIZED!! They have next to no staff, and people keep quitting while on the job, and as a result it took them forever to show up (I’m not kidding, they were supposed to show up at 11am to pack our stuff, and they didn’t arrive until 10pm!! On our moving day, they were supposed to come with our stuff between 11 am and 1 pm, and they didn’t arrive until 10 pm again!). It was 2 am and the movers were so tired they could not finish our move. They told us someone would come the next day to finish up but we have not heard from them at all despite following up. We had to finish the move ourselves. GO WITH ANY OTHER COMPANY.

Horrible experience. Communication skills are lacking. No one ever picks up the phone. They did start to respond respond quicker to my emails towards the last two weeks of my move, but when I have a problem I want to talk with someone not communicate through email! It took 1 month to receive my items. I was told two weeks. Then they say I was told one month. They found nothing wrong with how long I had to wait. One dept has no idea what the other is doing. I got different answers to the same question. When my items finally arrived, the boxes they packed were crushed and items are broken. Fragile items were put on the bottom of other boxes. Some fragile items were tossed in a box with no protection. I’ve only just started unpacking and I have a 2 broken lamp shades, a broken shelf, a mixer that can’t be used, and shelves missing from a wall unit. I can hardly wait to see what I find tomorrow. Also, don’t let them arrange to move your vehicle. They charge for this service snd I’ve had nothing but trouble from the company they use. The were inept, rude, and returned my car with chips in the paint on the hood of my 2020 Corolla. And Now, I can’t get ahold of the claims dept.

The team at Number 1 was AMAZING! They arrived on time and packed our entire kitchen. They were extremely professional and despite my initial information to the company that was incorrect with the amount of items we had, the guys worked double the length of the day to make sure everything was done. Number1 Movers. What can I say...to keep it short, I booked for a move a few days ago and received a quotation that was a bit high for my budget. However, they worked with me to come to an agreeable amount. I'm the person who prefers the dentist to moving and suffer from anxiety issues. The owner was great. He called to assure me that they will handle everything and will send movers who will take care of everything and for me not to worry. Sure enough moving day came and after some short instructions from me, the 2 movers proceeded to pack and load everything. They unloaded at the destination just as efficiently. Micky and *sorry I forgot his name again, did an excellent job. If you are moving, ask for these 2 young men. Oh did I mention the price? It was expensive and you will have people say you are crazy for paying that but trust me, the service and care that I had received was well worth the price. Not only was instructions followed accurately, but not one item was damaged. My move consisted of 3rd floor to 3rd floor...lots of stairs and corners involved. Thank you Number1Movers. I highly recommend you and will DEFINITELY use your services again.

My parents were moving and I helped them find movers. We got a very good quote and went with Number 1 Movers. This rating doesn't reflect the guys who moved my parents...they were great; friendly, efficient...it was after the move things went south. The final amount was almost $1000 more than quoted; when this was flat out refused, my parents were threatened with "then my guys won't take anything off the truck until we're paid" to which the reply was "nice trick, but the furniture is already in the house". After clearly being taken off guard, the price suddenly was lowered closer to the quote. Again, the moving guys themselves were great..I just don't appreciate slimy business practices and threatening to hold my parents furniture. I would be very cautious and get things in writing if you choose this company.

I called the office to get a long distance moving quote and they transfered me to Maggie ksiazek. She was so nice on that day and when I asked give me a quote, she said we have promotions going on - 69c/pound and no fuel charge and no destination service charge so final quote was 499$+tax = 565$. I was so happy and then asked for two days to decide. Maggie was so nice on phone, she sent me the estimate and then she called again to make 150$ deposit, I double checked Quote with her and it was still the same so I deposited 150$ and the things changed all of sudden. Estimate showed - 79c/pound, Fuel Surcharge + Destination Services = 171$, Total = 839.74$. Now I called office and they were not transferring me to Maggie. I kept on calling but they did not answer. Somehow I managed to reach her through my wife's number and she said 'I don't remember'. She said let me get back to you in an hour. I kept on waiting and after an hour I started calling again. No answer for 5-6 calls. I emailed her too but no reply. I had to hide my caller ID before calling and they picked it up. So they were purposely not picking up my call. Some other lady answered and said they cannot reverse the quote because they cannot make money. This looks like scam but somehow I was able to get my deposit back after 2 hours. Please be aware before dealing with Maggie Ksiazek!!! Scam!

Very happy with this company. I move around a lot so use moving services frequently. I am often not available to be on site so have come to expect dishonesty in terms of start times, drive time, etc. but these guys were very honest and actually worked so quick and efficiently that they finished 30 minutes earlier and so charged me less than our originally agreed upon price. Really couldn't be happier with their service and will definitely be using them again.

I used number 1 movers for a long distance move from Ontario to Prince Edward Island. I'll start with the positive, they were very professional over the phone and were on time both with picking up my things and dropping them off. I moved roughly 9-10 items such as a mattress, couch, tv stand, bed frame, 2 night stands, a couple of end tables and a credenza and was quoted approx 1700 dollars including a 400 dollar out-of-way charge (for them to detour from Halifax to PEI) and a fuel surcharge for the trip. Fair enough. The only costs not included at the time were taxes and total weight. They arrived on time to pick up my stuff and transported it to their warehouse to weigh it and eventually transport it to the east coast. So far so good. Here’s where it got a bit weird. About a day or so into my move, I'm travelling ahead to my new home when I receive an email for an updated quote thinking maybe it would go up for down by 100-200 bucks with the weight. Nope. The new quote was for almost 3100 dollars, nearly twice the agreed upon estimate! After 3 days of trying to get ahold of them, I finally was able to get to the manager, Daryl thanks to the driver of the truck. Daryl told me the reason for the price increase was due to taxes and the total weight of my things coming to 2100lbs which is absolutely ridiculous. Like I said, I shipped maybe 9-10 things, the largest of those items being a queen mattress and a basic, basic Structube couch (so light that both the pickup and delivery guy were able to single handedly carry the couch without breaking a sweat). An Ikea bed frame completely disassembled, 2 small night stands, a cheap particle board dining room table (disassembled) an ikea bookcase...that's already more than half of the things I sent with them and I'm nowhere near 2100lbs. When they arrived with my things in PEI, it was a completely different moving company asking me to pay either cash or credit, the latter of which has a 3% charge for usage. Not having any cash, I reluctantly went to pay with my credit card. But instead of pulling out a machine, this random person who I've never met calls another guy who then asks for my credit information over the phone so he can enter it into "the system". After contacting Daryl again, who was thankfully available on a Sunday, we agreed to send the money directly to number 1 movers via etransfer and avoid the sketchiness and the 3% charge. Once the movers dropped off my stuff and I began organizing everything, I noticed I was missing a glass top for my end table as well as 2 plastic screw holders that basically hold my bed frame together. I also noticed a day or so later that my box with my Christmas tree also never arrived. Daryl reimbursed me for my glass tabletop and missing screw holders but didn’t respond to my email about the Christmas tree. Update: Daryl reached out to me to apologize for missing my email about the missing Christmas tree and to try to mend fences. He offered me additional reimbursement including the missing Christmas tree (even more than it was worth). While there was nothing he could do about the drastic increase in price from my original estimate, I did appreciate his genuineness and sincerity in trying to make things right. Overall, I’d say they did a great job 90% of the way and I would consider using these guys again. Just make sure to get a more realistic and firm estimate from them first.

Booked Number One Movers a month ago to handle our move from Burlington Ontario to Port Colborne. The day of, they had two of the three staff call in sick, so the operations manager personally came down on his day off and helped with the move himself. He was extremely polite, apologized for the changes and they got straight to work. The two men managed to load an entire house (down two flights of stairs and a 3 foot wide hallway) in three hours. Not a single piece of furniture was damaged. They used mats and covers to ensure they didn't make a mess, and were exceptionally careful with every box. They even managed to move loose China I forgot about without breaking a teacup. I started this move skeptical. Anyone who does their research about moving companies knows last minute changes end up costing an arm and a leg. I ended the day extremely pleased. They came in under budget, despite being a man down and were an absolute pleasure to work with. At the end of the day I honestly cannot thank this company enough. They were extremely efficient and made our move completely painless. Their service may not be the cheapest, but I can tell you the extra cost was made up tenfold by the speed and care they put into their job. We have actually decided to use this company for our next move, despite being more than an hour away from their office (living in Port Colborne). To us, it is worth every penny to have them come back down and do the job again.

My mother-in-law booked them months in advance. The day of the move, we were ready and waiting by 7am for the movers to arrive between 8-10am. Shortly after 10am, we get a text message "We called 3x, no one answered so we left and are not coming back". There were no calls and clearly they had the right number since they text'd us. No one at the office to call or talk with as they are closed on weekends. My in-laws are both disabled, so unable to help. So my wife and I had to scramble to find a truck and do the move ourselves. Hard to a) find a truck on a Sunday at the end of the month b) find help last minute. It was awful as this company left us high-and-dry.

This is my first Google review and I hope it helps others. To not answering emails to telephone calls multiple times, I’d think twice about using their services. I was anxious booking this because of so many negative stories posted on the net. I did my homework- I had MULTIPLE quotes from so many Companies. This was an emergency move and my nerves were already at peak level but it’s only gotten worse. I secured my booking with Austin and then NOTHING. Like, absolutely nothing!!! I emailed several times- no response. I left several messages on their voicemail- nothing. I started to panic obviously. When the movers showed up- they were INCREDIBLE!!!!! Ethan & the other gentleman ( sorry sweetie I forgot your name) were OUTSTANDING! They were friendly and polite and so helpful. Totally put my mind at ease. I think the problem is obviously COMMUNICATION- or lack there of. I was made to feel that the Company was top notch, they cared about their Customers and I was not to worry. My understanding was I was to receive DAILY updates from my coordinator of where my items were and when exactly they would be arriving. Never happened. I received one email at the beginning of the week saying it might be there by Thursday or Friday but we’ll definitely be in touch. Silence, so as I dealt with family emergency, I was in full panic mode about my belongings. On my contract- it stated that you would be contacted 24 hours prior to your items being delivered. This was to help prepare- book elevators, etc. I was in full expectations of that call. Randomly Thursday afternoon a call comes in- I’m gonna be there in 20 minutes??? So I declined immediately explaining I was expecting a call- I needed to book an elevator, etc. I explained tomorrow would be good @2pm Booked elevator- everything set……. Nothing. No call, no emails, nothing. I called the offices in Hamilton frantic as you would and was told they would contact the Company and not to worry. Always told not to worry. Almost 1.5 later they show up- I pay the driver and they begin to bring my belongings. I assume when moving there would be breakage- casualties happen and should be taken into consideration- I’m ok with a few glasses and dishes being broken: However- missing legs to my dining room table, missing items, boxes ……… I received someone else’s belongings……. Since then- MULTIPLE emails and calls have been made. I’ve tried to reach out. Nothing. They got their money. My bed is missing rails, cross bars…… how could that possibly go missing? Boxes of clothing, kitchen supplies, bag of laundry items and such. Furniture items nicked and damaged…… Company states MANY THINGS on the website Please be cautious

The movers did not come at the window we agreed upon and did not call so we wasted the whole day as we came from different location to help my daughter with the move. We received no phone call, after the one that delayed the move by 2 hours and had to scramble to find another mover as we thought we got a fake one. They finally called around 8pm to apologize and the return of the deposit did make it up a little bit but the damage has been done. We lost the next day with a new mover but finally got it complete. This mover is off our list.

I would give 100 stars if I could! I checked with a few other moving companies who gave much higher estimates and also required a deposit. This movers was very reasonable. They did not require a deposit. They showed up 20 minutes early the day of the move with smiles on their faces.They truly enjoy what they do and strive to make you happy. They wrapped the furniture etc in shrink wrap and even hung all my clothes directly from my closet to wardrobe boxes. When we reached my new home, the movers took out the clothes from the wardrobe boxes and hung the clothes directly to the closet. They also asked where the boxes, furniture were to go in the new home. They never complained. Four movers came for me and all were so friendly. I highly recommend Number 1 Movers and will use them again should I need to move.

We booked a time and paid our 200 dollars deposit around may. We agreed on Moving All the Stuff on July 15th, they literally canceled the move right before the move. I was very pleased with the setup of my move but things quickly went downhill. I was given a quote for the move of roughly $3500. Based on that I budgeted $5000. I was told that 2 trucks would be arriving with 4 men to move my furniture into the trucks to be taken to a storage facility for 11 days - until the close on my new property. 1 truck arrived at 11am with 3 guys. I told them right away that 1 truck would not be enough. They said they had truck issues but would sort out. Once the truck was stuffed to the gills at 3pm the movers called their office to get a second truck. They sat around for 40 mins fussing over the arrival of a second truck. They left at 4:30pm saying that a second truck would be on the way. At 9pm I received a phone call stating that the second truck was 30 mins away from my house and they wanted payment - which I obliged. At 11:30pm a single mover showed up in her personal vehicle; he stated that the truck should be there soon. He started to move my stuff outside to prep for the truck's arrival. The truck did not show up until 12:30am - by this time it had started raining and my furniture and boxes were getting wet. We moved what we could into the garage but things were already wet. The first truck had two men - who had apparently driven down from Thunder Bay (where they completed a job). Then a second truck showed up and all of the workers stopped for a food break. The movers finished up at 4:30am. I was assured that I would not be charged for the extra hours and manpower. When I was arranging my move in on the online site I noticed that my quote had doubled to over $7500. I phoned in to the main office to inquire about this and I was told that if I wanted my furniture that I would have to pay. I disputed the quote and I was told that the quote was only for 1 part of the move - which is ludicrous. So they tried to placate me by offering discounts - but at this point my budget of $5000 was blown (I am on a fixed income as a veteran). When the trucks showed up my belongings were damaged and strewn into the truck with zero care. They unloaded items that were not mine and I was missing quite a few of my precious belongings. I tried to contact the company regarding the insurance coverage ($0.60 per $1 damage) and I was told to submit all of the necessary photos and receipts. I did this; the damage was over $10,000. I was told by Number 1 Movers claim department that I would not receive compensation because they gave me a discount on the move (due to their oversights) and that my case was closed. I have yet to receive my missing goods and they have yet to come pick up the items that do not belong to me. DO NOT use Number 1 Movers. They are fraudulent and scammers. Zero accountability. PS I have artwork that belongs to someone who has used this company. If it is yours let me know...

Sent them a message through kijiji and had the date scheduled. Contacted them two days prior to the move to confirm they were able to move us still, and they said yes and they would be in contact. I called Adrian asking him where he was since it was after 9. He said he called me and I didn't answer...he ended up calling the wrong number and he cancelled my move because I didn't answer. So instead of starting the move at 9am it started at 1:30pm with just Adrian and another guy showed up an hour or so later. He ended up charging me more than the estimated 320.00 because there were stairs...$450.00 being professional movers stairs shouldn't be an issue. Adrian seemed to be on his cell phone texting often so we were doing a lot more work than we thought we would be doing. He dropped and broke my tiffany lamp, his worker was smoking around our belongings. I do not recommend them unless they fix their issues about getting in contact with people, texting on the job and not being careful with expensive items.

The estimate was done over the phone and was grossly inaccurate. They estimated 4 hours and it took 3 days....mostly because the staff was either complaining or wasted. The first day, they sent two high school kids and a guy to stand on the truck and stack. My remaining furniture was left out in the rain overnight. The crew was joined by a second crew at 10pm and they all proceeded to get wasted and stayed until 4am. They broke my previous home's patio door and I probably had $10,000 in damages to my furniture. The reply was "they didn't make any money on the move, so they wouldn't pay for damages'. I actually was so stressed by them, that I suffered a seizure. DO NOT USE!

They delivered someone else's furniture to me then corrected their mistake. However, not all my furniture was delivered (half the bed and a box is missing). I still haven't gotten a resolution besides "we're checking our warehouse" for the past 4 weeks. Their level of service completely drops off after you pay the invoice. You also need to pay prior to delivery - so you never know if you'll get all your stuff. Movers were good though, very professional.

I'm a registered nurse that moved from Ontario to PEI at the beginning of August. I had a moving company lined up two months in advance but two weeks prior to my move, they let me down and told me that they couldn't do my move. I was frantic, as my closing date on my home was the 28th. Number one movers stepped in and made this happen for me. It was a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders. My belongings were supposed to arrive on the 11th or the 12th, but they didn't get here until the 21st. I was quite distressed about this and I had been wondering where my things are. It turns out that I marked my belongings with my current name rather than the name used on file (a mix up which I am fully to blame for). When the 11th and 12th came around, and my belongings were not here, I called the office and spoke with a receptionist (I don't remember her name), she told me that my things were in Halifax and that the movers in Halifax would be in contact with me but they never did. Becoming more frantic, I called again and spoke with the same receptionist who wasn't very helpful at all. She kept telling me that my things were in Halifax. On the 13th I flew back to Ontario to figure out what was going on. I spoke with a receptionist named Izabella who was absolutely fantastic. She reassured me that she would call me as soon as she figured things out and she did. It turned out my belongings were still on site and were not moved. Izabella got on top of everything and never missed a beat on calling me back to continue to update me. I want to send out a HUGE thank you to Izabella for being nothing short of amazing!!! Needless to say, all my belongings eventually arrived and I am now settling into my new home.

The company confirmed that they could move the full contents of our house between two cities on a specific date. We were promised three movers. The morning of the move, they called to say that only two movers were coming and that they would be late. They also then revealed that they did not have a truck large enough for a single run and would need to complete multiple trips. From start to finish, they took over seven hours to load and unload only part of our house and would not have been able to do a second run on the same day. They offered to finish the job on a different day but never followed up to see if that was needed. Since we had to be out of our old home, my husband had to rent a U-Haul to complete the move. The company did acknowledge the issues on the day of the move and provided what they felt was a fair discount for their failure to deliver on what was promised. Following their departure, we noticed the extensive damage to our furniture. Contrary to the guarantee provided on the company's website which states that “we are using moving blankets, rubber floor mats and special equipment to prevent any damages to your house and furniture”; the movers failed to take any of these precautions. Consequently, our furniture was significantly scraped and scratched in transit. Furthermore, they badly damaged the railing in the home that we had sold, which required us to repair it prior to the new owners' arrival. We took steps to notify Number 1 Movers and were quoted a rate per pound for the damage to our belongings. We were also advised to provide photographic evidence to substantiate our claim. We complied with the request and have since made numerous attempts to contact the company to seek compensation and they have not returned our calls or emails. To date, we remain uncompensated for the damage to our property.

ZERO stars. Completely unprofessional!!! When you hire a company to move your items, you expect a certain amount of guarantee that they will try their best to keep your stuff safe. This company does not care. We paid over $1000 to move our belongings and the company won't even respond about the table they damaged. Problem #1 When the movers arrived they let us know that the "company" recommends wrapping all your furniture in plastic wrap, ( had we wrapped our table in the $35 worth of wrap, we MAY have received $12 compensation for our table... hmmm?). However, the "movers" said this was a money grab and recommended that it was not necessary and that they had never had an issue. Problem #2 The two movers that were supposed to be sent were replaced with 3, one kid first day on the job (nice kid, but that's not the problem). This resulted in the supervisor sitting down throughout the majority of the move giving me life advice (not requested), instead of watching the trainee and teaching him properly. The lack of supervision caused a miscommunication between mover #3 and trainee.. and a broken table leg. - As a side note they took a picture of the table after broken and told us it would be taken care of - The table is unusable as is. Problem #3 the company is ignoring our emails. The damage to our table as far as we are concerned are a direct result of negligent staff and supervision. Any company that provides a service to the public should stand by their work and take care of their mistakes. Instead they are hiding behind fine print. I would never recommend this company.

Looking for a mover look no further. I only had 10 days to find a mover, I called around for prices and checked reviews. What struck me about this mover was the knowledgeable woman I spoke to first Maggie. She gave me a quote and asked if I was still shopping around I said yes so she for warned me about being careful with my choices. I ended up calling back to book with Number 1 and Maggie was so helpful going through the entire booking process with me in real time while I was on my laptop. She gave some great advise on packing too. The day of the move they called me to tell me they were leaving and would be at my place in 15 minutes. James and Tyler were the two movers and I can 't say enough about how efficient these guys were, they just didn't stop until the job was done. I offered them water or pop and they declined just wanted to keep moving. They were careful with all my belongings and when the job was done they were still asking if there was anything else to move or if I wanted things placed differently. I have moved in the past and this was the smoothest move I have ever done. Moving in general is stressful but everything about Number 1 eased that somewhat. I highly recommend this company!

They are so friendly! We weren’t going to get movers but our load was just too much for us to bear worried we won’t be able to book movers on such short notice we were worried but called them anyway. I am so happy I found this company they were so friendly over the phone and answer any and all my questions I had and were quick to respond that they had availability that next morning. Nice guys but will not use again - I asked for 3 movers, the truck showed up after the scheduled time (which is fine) but only 2 guys, the 3rd guy was late probably 1/2 hr, he took off in the afternoon to get water (because he wasn't prepared) for a while and i still got charged full price for 3 guys. They damaged my front door (deep dent) and drywall on the side and i was never compensated for it, no credit, nothing. The owner called and yelled at me, called me a liar even after i showed pictures. Although they padded everything and wrapped all the furniture, it still takes time and adds to the hours - my bill was alot more then i anticipated + damage to my home. Never again.

We hired these movers relying on reviews and awards they won. The coordinator was very nice and responsive, the crew worked hard to finish the job. However, as per the contract, they were supposed to have 2 trucks and 4 men to move our furniture. They had a truck and half, ended up leaving some patio furniture behind because they ran out of space. On top of that towards mid day, they were down to three guys trying to move the heaviest pieces of furniture. They ended up damaging the China cabinet ($5000 value), another Buffet, a desk, and put a dent in the wall. They do not appear to be professional movers, they did not use a single dolly/ramps to move heavy furniture into the house. And finally, after emptying one full truck, before they finished the job they came in for the payment and said they will not unload the second half truck until we pay. Very unprofessional. I submitted my claim for damages, but have not heard back yet. The Dining room China Cabinet is completely useless now. Completely disappointed. I would not recommend them at all. I would suggest for them the following: - when you give a quote, do a site visit and confirm heavy items and size of furniture - ensure your staff have the help they need to move furniture. 3 guys cannot move a 700 lb china cabinet, without dollies hence the damage -be honest and open, when you say your rate per hour is all inclusive, don’t charge your customer for the plastic wrap and tape! Disappointing! Good luck, conducting business like this will lead you to failure. Eventually you will not have any customers.

Went with this company because they had good reviews but now I have no idea how they have these reviews. Had a terrible experience with my long distance move. They did not send the contract so i had to sign on the spot when movers showed up. They also did not send the final invoice so i had to sign that on the spot when stuff was dropped off. It was $800 more than my quote. I spoke to the company when the movers had them on the phone and they agreed that they would discuss a partial refund. They then ignored all communication from me. Someone from a group email the movers sent emailed the group saying they had things broken and missing and that the movers were ignoring all of their calls and texts and about 6 others (of maybe 10) replied saying they also had problems and were being ignored. Absolutely do not trust this company. Maybe the good reviews are for local moves but their long distance moving is awful.

I hate to write bad things but this was one of the worst moving experiences I could have imagined. Everyone was very nice and well meaning- thank goodness or I really would have lost it. It started with the movers arriving over 2 hours late at 11:30 am instead of 9am. I really thought they weren’t going to show at all. The 4 guys who came were polite and nice but I would describe them as your average Canadian teenager just starting their summer job and not the muscular mover type you’d expect at all- they had a lot of trouble lifting boxes and furniture. When 2 guys were lifting a relatively small cupboard I can lift with my husband, the boys were acting like it was so heavy- I said something about it and the mover told me, “oh, I’m not worried about your cupboard, I’m worried about my men.” Never met a mover who could make you feel bad for caring about an expensive piece of furniture you got as a wedding present. I had to ask them to turn cupboards with the doors outward from walls twice and they had little sense of how to order things so they would get in their own way. My husband told them they had packed the truck wrong for the 1km drive to our new house and that there were speed bumps. Low and behold everything had fallen over, furniture was damaged and there was a hole in a rug and the driver said, “wow those speed bumps came out of no where”- never mind the warning and the signs! Eventually we finished at 10:45pm despite the fact we were all packed, organized and ready to go at 9am. We should have been done by dinner! Extra annoying as we paid by the hour thinking we’d get 4 burly guys. They were still cheaper than competitors but I wish I’d paid the extra cash for another company.

The movers Dave, Travis and Serge were excellent -- We really can't say enough about them -- They are the reason for the 5 stars. The front desk, however, is going to hurt this company. We were asked for a deposit, we etransferred right away. The day before the move we were called requesting a deposit, I had to send the etransfer confirmation as proof we sent it. The day of the move when settling up, they showed no deposit! We waited on moving day because the front desk had the location wrong. When I called to inquire of their whereabouts I told Josephine we were at a specific locker number. Then Dave called ten or 15 mins later, still at the first location -- the office hadn't paged him with our location or the locker number. We finally got going, and we could not imagine a better team or more efficiency. If the front desk got its act together, we doubt anyone could beat them.

Their truck wouldn't start in the morning and these guys promptly rented a replacement and were still on time. Our belongings were wrapped quickly and efficiently moved onto the truck with great care. Adrian really takes pride in his business and kept things moving along throughout the day. Total rip-off. I used this company to move from Toronto to Alberta. They won't return phone calls or emails. I was charged double my original quote which was in lbs and was ended up charged by cubic feet? I tried relentlessly to get my final bill and it was never produced until delivery where my things were held hostage until I paid double my original quote. They never produced a scale ticket which I had to pay $400 for. Many items were damaged on delivery and they were over 10 days late. I would never use this company again and watch out for them.

My elderly mother recently hired this company to move her into a condo in a retirement community. She had a horrible experience and in my opinion got taken advantage of and I would like to share so others can avoid the nightmare she had to endure. She was quoted $914 for the local move. Movers arrived on time, all seemed good until no floor protection was put down and her hardwood floors were damaged. When she asked about it no responsibility was taken and the mover suggested she scratched the floor with her shoes ! Her dining room table was irreparably damaged and apparently a claim was put in immediately. She was never given a claim number or any information about it. Her bedroom dresser and mirror were also dented and scratched and a cast iron urn was “lost” in transit from Aldershot to Hamilton?? One of the movers was not masked and when told to put on a mask by the condo administration he said he did not have one and they would have to provide one for him ?? That we could handle but the real shock came when my mother was told she owed over $1700 for the move … more than $800 over quote! She protested and was told for every 15 minutes the price went up. They also suggested she pay cash or she would be charged 2.5 percent more for credit. She counted out the total amount in front of the movers and her partner and put it on an envelope. She called me at work crying and frustrated by the experience. Over a week passed and no contact from them. We sent multiple emails and made multiple calls that went unanswered. Finally she was told to send in pictures of the damage. She was offered .60 per pound for the damage??? Over all $374 with a $100 deductible for thousands of dollars damage. Funny part is they said she would get an etransfer on a set date and she is yet to receive it. The company cashed her $150 credit deposit as well as taking the full amount in cash. When she asked for her deposit back they said they only received $1500 in the envelope so the deposit would not be refunded. I am disgusted that an elderly lady was taken advantage of in this way. I am also upset that there does not seem to be many avenues for us to take to address this. She has received no insurance money and no refund of her $150 overpayment. The company hung up on her as she “raised her voice and used a bad word” and will no longer take her calls. Please consider my mother’s experience before you hire this moving company.

“Your Number 1 Movers are simply the men for your job. We moved from the US to the GTA and Number 1 Movers had 2 movers at our place on time that unloaded a huge 20 foot Uhaul truck in two hours. There was no damage to our property and they even helped assemble the big furniture. Again this was all done within about 2 hours! If that wasn’t enough, one of the movers drove the truck back to the drop off station for me and then gave me a ride to the dealership to pick up our car. BEWARE! This Company did not honour its commitment to our contract and then refused to make appropriate amends. 30 minutes before the movers were expected to arrive, they phoned to cancel the contract! We had engaged Number 1 Movers on April 14, confirmed on April 26, were set to move today starting at 9 am today, April 29, from a condo to storage. The lease on our condo is up tomorrow, April 30. In order to set up for the move, per our condo board's policies, we had to arrange the elevator, hire a security guard for 4 hours for the moving room's entrance to the building, at a cost to us of $107. We also made arrangements at the storage facility to receive our furniture. As well, we made arrangements with the landlord to hand over the keys tomorrow. All was is in readiness, then 1/2 hour before the scheduled start of the move, we receive a phone call, and an email, "your upcoming move has been cancelled". Explanation: the movers had simply not shown up. The dispatcher was apologetic, but suggested we talk to customer service. We scrambled to react to this unexpected development. The security guard was already arranged, so that cost was sunk. The condo administrator told us that the next available moving day for the condo is Monday, May 3. We talked with our landlord , who agreed to let us stay until the move is complete at a cost to us of $110 per night. We then talked to Number 1 Movers, not to the owner, who refused to talk to us, but to a customer service agent. The agent, instructed by the owner, told us that they could arrange for the move to be done on Monday for a $60 discount. We proposed that we be reimbursed just for the out of pocket expenses caused by their failure to perform, $437, nothing for the inconvenience to us. They refused. This company failed to perform. That's one thing; it happens to every person and company periodically. But once they failed to perform, they refused to make appropriate amends for their failure. That's deplorable. Based on our experience, we recommend that you STAY AWAY from this company.

They smashed nearly every box I had, tons of furniture is broken, the price was almost doubled just before delivery. Never use this company, they conned me and its the biggest regret of my life. Wish I saved the 9 grand and just stood outside and beat all my stuff with a hammer, would havs been more enjoyable for me.

Horrible! Now that I see another.review, I wonder if our stuff and theirs got mixed up (we had shelves show up here). It's highly possible with others as well after what we have experienced with them. They sent us extra beds, marked with our lot and they were.not all ours - I mean 3 extra beds (1 king, 2 queen full sets). There was a weight bench, weights, and others gym goods that were not ours, that were marked.as ours. I'm mortified as some of our lifelong momentos are gone. Furniture of ours is missing, and it created an infuriating day for everyone involved. If anyone who has stuff delivered by them is missing items, please see pics. You can try to trace it. The load went to Edmonton next. If you see stuff, or accidentally accepted stuff that is not yours, please contact the company.. Pics of the broken wheels on my birds cages too, and other people's stuff that came with mine. Plus the damage to my buffet, which was uncalled for. The review has been changed because its been a poor experience since the first team who was good. Number 1 moved my stuff without telling me, which would have been fine if they properly packed the storage bin & it was stored alone as it should.be. The contracted driver they sent was rude & condescending. Bringing his daughter, all good, but have more help for weight that cannot be lifted by her. He was upset about it, yet admitted it took him and 2 other guys to put 1 item on the truck. A landscaping company helped to remove that piece. But things were not unwrapped once brought in that should have been. Blankets left all over stuff..We cannot lift the buffet, and the blankets are left under it as it was wrapped in full. I paid for take down and setup. There was no setup. The driver was abrasive and rude. His daughter on the other hand was kind, and she worked hard. She did pay attention & communicates well..She understands how to work with people, whereas he lacked being non reactive towards customers. His constant explanation that he is not Number 1 Movers, and this is a regular occurrence with this company he said. Number 1 said it would be them delivering, and it should have been, not unprepared contractors. I felt bad for the driver of the truck when their lift at the back broke down at the end. They were stuck, but it did get fixed. We want our stuff back, as I've seen other posts of people who didn't get all their stuff. I think its mixed up somewhere. Its caused added stress during an already difficult move First review follows this, & sad they could not complete what started as a great review.. I cannot say enough good about James and Marcus who came to get our goods. They diligently wrapped everything, and were fast to get it all done. While the time of our move was changed and we weren't notified, that wasn't their fault. That belonged to one of the ladies in the office for not communicating that to me. She had agreed to call me at 7pm the night before, and never did, but changed our move time without notice. While I understand the company is swamped right now, that miss did cause James, Marcus and myself a bit of chaos as the service elevator was in use by our building management for the first hour. But James and Marcus handled it with grace. I'm still giving 5 stars because Adrian was quick to apologize for the mixup & understood that did cause issues with the service elevator as I had it booked for the original arranged pickup time of 930am. Strongly recommend this company, and while we are waiting possession date, so far we are very impressed. Request James and Marcus if you're looking for 2 guys who will be incredibly careful with your goods. They treated our stuff like it was their own, were very kind and understanding of moving stress. Thanks to James, Marcus, Andrew, Adrien and another in office (can't remember his name) for being wonderful to deal with. We look forward to receiving our stuff & are happy thus far. The pick up of my items went smoothly, i had high hopes for my things arriving at my new home. However, that is not the case, and half of my items never made it. My couch cushions are missing, rips and stains on my mattresses, broken furniture, NOTHING was put back together, i have made several calm and patient phone calls and was told they would call me back and are now not awnsering the phone or responding to my messages. They have a well written website and fancy trucks and tools, however, do not let this fool you like it did me. This is very unprofessional and i do not recommend anyone use number 1 movers.

Update: THIS COMPANY PAYS PEOPLE FOR GOOD REVIEWS.Fake accounts on Facebook giving good reviews as well. Complete frauds. They also try to pay people off to take down their bad reviews. I would hate for people to be fooled by their rating on here and urge you to READ THE BAD REVIEWS! I might also add the BBB has taken away their rating and suspended them as well. BEWARE! .DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They don’t answer emails or phone calls which is surprising seeing as they have 8 phone numbers, some of which work one day and not the next. All they do is LIE. No contact or updates after booking or pick up. Nothing to tell you it won’t arrive on time (we received our delivery 3 days late). Would have been 5 days late if I hadn’t badgered them endlessly. We are missing items and spent an entire day with zero contact. Finally receive an email from Juliana telling me she was “too busy” to get back to me and didn’t realize I needed daily updates. She is apparently the customer service manager. I know she’s not the only one who works there As my mother and I spoke to Andrew, Chris, Maggie, Isabella and Jenna guess they didn’t have time either. Apparently they haven’t fully unloaded the truck my mothers belongings were on. It’s been 4 days really? Drivers have no paperwork or manifest or anything to sign. They also demand full payment before unloading anything off the truck. My mother has a couch with no cushions and cushions for a chair she didn’t receive as well as a missing dresser, bed frame parts half an entertainment unit and a tote with irreplaceable items. Her couch ( the one without cushions) and box spring are both filthy. We filed a complaint with the BBB and that was sent to them this morning and amazingly received an email directly following that that they will keep us informed on the status of their search. We also filed a complaint with the ministry of consumer affairs and urge anyone who has had issues with them to do the same. They clearly don’t care at all about their customers or the distress they cause by their lies. I’m sure following this bad review there will be fraudulent good reviews as that seems to be how they operate. SHADY SHADY SHADY.

Where do I begin. DO NOT BOOK THESE MOVERS!!! Not only has it taken us 5 weeks to get our belongings from Ontario to PEI. WE ARE MISSING OUR MATTRESSES!!!! Damage is done to numerous furniture that I don't even know where to start. We are missing NUMEROUS boxes. And the movers were supposed to set up the kids bunk beds, nope in shambles. Their times lines quoted were definitely off the mark, The movers showed up to pick up our stuff up with not enough room on their truck so they had to come back. When they did come back the movers didn't bring any tools with them my Father had to go the Hardware store to get them a wrench to dismantle the sofa of which they ripped a huge hole in the wall moving our couch. Then our belonging sat in storage for 4 weeks and now 5 weeks later we get our stuff and it is only half here and dumped off like garbage. WHAT DID WE PAY GOOD MONEY FOR?????? NOT TO MENTION THEY NEVER PICK UP THE PHONE!!!!!!\ HORRIBLE!!!

I was about to book this moving company today until one of there sales agents were unprofessional and rude on the phone for simply asking questions. His name is Austin and after he conducted himself so unprofessionally I asked to speak to his manager. He ignored my request to be transferred to his manager after asking 4 times. He was so frustrating to deal with. He kept talking over me so he could block out my requests and over power my voice. When I raised my voice a little to request to be transferred to his manager he asks me “why am I being aggressive” and he further explains the calls are recorded as to try and scare me. There is something seriously wrong with this individual. So I reply to “ I had to raise my voice because your shouting over me and you are not transferring me to your manager as requested multiply times”. So once again I ask him again to transfer me to his manager and he hangs up on me. I hope the calls are recorded because you need to play back the call and coach Austin how to deal with customers professionally and with respect. He has zero customer service skills and that’s not a good image for your company. After reading all the comments about this moving company and what I just experienced with Austin I feel like I dodged a bullet.

The movers themselves were fantastic, I could not praise them enough. Everything was wrapped and stored amazingly, no casualties among the stuff. Friendly, hard working, great attitude, worth every penny + tip. Movers: 5+ / 5 The office, not so great. The sales person obviously adjusted the volume estimate to account for me failing to list some stuff, which increased the cost and made them bring 2 trucks, which they didnt need. Later, we were told the date was double booked and asked to change the day (we couldn't) despite reserving the times months earlier. For us, they still honored the time but someone else it was probably cancelled. The office if difficult to contact, the phone system just rings forever and hangs up (not even voicemail, really?) Office gets 2 of 5.

I wish I could give zero stars. When the truck arrived, my mother's items were mixed in with another person's (or multiple persons') delivery and they kept unloading items that didn't belong to her. When we said the items weren't hers, the two movers said "if you like it, you can keep it." This was said to us several times as they offloaded items. At one point, one of the movers turned to my 6-year-old and said "someday you'll learn the world isn't an honest place." This should be this company's slogan. Boxes were falling apart, soaking wet, like they'd been sitting in a puddle for days. Items were damaged; many, many items. My mom is an antique dealer and knows how to package/wrap things and it was shocking how many things were smashed. Rubbermaid bins were broken and the items inside were crushed, that's how bad it was. Original artwork that had been wrapped in foam and cardboard had broken glass, frames and the artwork itself had been damaged. The mattress was ripped, furniture was chipped beyond repair... The best part? Not all of her items were on the delivery truck. I have no idea how/why someone's move would be split up. When we pressed the issue and finally said we would pick the items up at the warehouse, we were told the warehouse manager would meet us in a closer location, which was a grocery store parking lot (yes, we agreed to this, but seriously?). We collected a TV stand (broken), her luggage (soaking wet to the inside where the contents were mouldy) and a table (broken). She's still missing original artwork and several boxes. I don't have much confidence we'll ever receive them after hearing several times during unloading, "if you like it, you can keep it." She called and spoke with Bella in Customer Service who said the manager, Julianna, would call her back the next day to discuss the damage and missing items. Of course, no phone call. The following day, she called again, and again, and no one would pick up (you can't leave a voicemail). I called and connected with Jenna in Customer Service on my first attempt. (Were they screening her?) Jenna gave me the email address for the claims department, and my mom sent photos of the damage with descriptions of the items. She received a reply stating they would offer .60 per pound and they guesstimate the weight of each item via the photos. So, for thousands of dollars in damaged antique pottery, furniture and original artwork, she was offered $240. She refused this and they 'upped' the offer to $573. She refused this again but there's been no progress since. Plus, still no word from them on the missing items but we were told that they are in a storage unit, behind another person's belongings and that person hasn't secured an address yet, so we need to wait. It's been a month since my mom's move date and now we're waiting for someone else to secure a residence because they can't be bothered to move their stuff to complete my mom's delivery. I've emailed two more times, requesting a date and received no response. I can't get through via phone anymore either. She did finally receive an email from Julianna who promised to make time the following day to call her to discuss. It's been two days since that promise was made and my mom hasn't heard from anyone. My mom is elderly. She moved from Ontario to BC to be closer to her grandchildren. A huge and stressful move for anyone, let alone an elderly person. If they can treat a grandma with this amount of disregard, disrespect and unprofessionalism, they are truly number one at something, that's for sure. I'm disgusted with their lack of concern, lack of organization and competency, lack of care and complete lack of decency. By the way, it you're missing a box of spices and/or the top to an outdoor patio table, I have it...

This is a very easy review to write because the men doing the work were some of the best moving muscle that I have ever used and I’ve moved at least 6 times. We had some tricky items and the guys treated them with special care and handled everything professionally and in a steady manner making sure not to eat up unnecessary billable time for us. The Booking takes some getting used to because it’s not a traditional process which is great. I was expecting the usual sales rep to make an appointment and give a quote that would never be accurate. Instead it’s all done very quickly and easily online with a simple deposit! The price they quote is very fair and the actual price to quote was only a $400 difference so I was pleased with their rates and the crew’s professionalism. Now here’s the big difference with Number 1 Movers Vs anybody else that I have ever used...the owners commitment to the customer and let me make it clear that I am not related to anyone with the company or employed by the company There were a few issues like you get with any big move but Adrian never stopped communicating with me to make it more then right with us. He was committed to taking care of us and our satisfaction and he honestly went above what any other moving company would do Would I use them again...without hesitation and I recommend them 100% because if their commitment to the customer from top down
