We used BigSteelBox for our recent move (as storage before the move, and as our main transportation for the move). It was nothing short of excellent! Economical option to hiring a moving truck. We did everything ourselves at our own pace; the box holds a ton of stuff; it was clean and really well insulated (during a very hot summer!); our things barely shifted at all during the actual move; nothing was damaged; and the driver was helpful, reliable, and manouevred the box like it was nothing! It was very cost effective compared to other storage and moving option. I would use this company again in a heartbeat and I have no qualms at all about recommending their services!

I’m always suspicious of businesses with 1-800 numbers, and this company was no exception. They say they have an office in Carp but if you call you’ll be talking to someone in British Columbia. This is a big commercial chain operation, with no personal touch. I’m a small business owner and I’m interested in building relationships in my local community - not exchanging money with a corporation on the West Coast. The salesperson didn’t ask any questions about my project, she just kept trying to sign me up for a “business account” without knowing anything about my needs. Definitely do not recommend.

I booked a month in advance. I called every day one week before us loading at the yard to verify logistics. I was nervous because I could never get a hold of the manager at the yard. We even drove by a few times and called the number at the gate as it was locked. No response. However, when I call the 1800 number, the call centre reps were pleasant and reassured me that all plans were in place. Move day comes, and the movers are at our door, ready to get things started. I called the company again to verify the details. They assured me that the manager is at the yard and things are good to go. They even said they spoke to him 10 minutes before my calling. The day we are set to move, and the truck and movers are packing our stuff, I receive a phone call from the yard manager. He proceeds to tell me that they cannot accommodate us as he can't start the forklift. Granted, it was cold, but this was the exact reason why I was confirming every day. Also, he mentioned that he was told we were moving over the weekend. This was incorrect. We were moving on Friday, not over the weekend. I'm not sure where he got that info from, but I was diligent with communicating the date and time with this company. He asked for me to be patient and that he will follow up in a bit to let me know how he's making out. I have movers on the clock ready to pack and deliver to their yard. This was not acceptable. Thank goodness I had a backup plan. Another company which I honestly did not want to use (American). They were ready, willing to help and across the street to boot! This company was half the price, and they store the shipping containers INDOORS. It ended up working for us as our stuff will be safe and in a secure heated facility. I honestly wanted to patronize bigsteelbox as the process was straightforward and easy, to begin with. The yard manager called me to let me know they were able to accommodate. Too late.

I highly recommend the Moving box! For your moving and storage needs. Our contact person Karen Black was Very professional and knew all aspects of our needs and her recommendations were very helpful. Pick up and delivery as scheduled. On delivery the driver walked me through and answered all my questions pertaining to the box! On the delivery of the box precautions were taken by the driver not to damage the driveway! Contents were secured as packed with absolutely no damage. Stored my car a few years ago, needed storage again for a car. Girl new on the desk wanted to help but not alot of cooperation from the team to get me the answers I needed. Last visit a few years ago very helpful, maybe this was just an off day. Found storage at another. Site was clean and tidy, cleaners with customers should wear a mask.

First of all, this review is not to say how great the company is in general. They are. But they are also exceptional. They agreed to move us on July 1st, a holiday. I doubt they agree to that often, but they really helped our family from a very tight spot. So they really care. Mike is a very good business man and his customers do come first. We agreed to some other arrangements that just made me feel compelled to tell all of you. Thanks MovingBox team. -George

Completed an on-line form on Sunday July 18th looking for a quote and availability. RCVD an eMail quote back via eMail on Wednesday from Kieran with prices however no dates or availability. I called the number and extension indicated and left a V/M (at 1121am) looking for further details... as a cost quote without available is useless. Did not receive a call back right away and trusted they were busy so thought to call again to perhaps speak to someone else as I needed to get my booking sorted for August 12th/13th. This time Kieran answered. He was unable to provide availability dates and needed to speak to management before getting back to me. (Ok.. fine no problem) I asked if he could get the info by end of day (No... ok no problem) I asked if he would guarantee a call as soon as he knows if the availability would work or not and he committed to call me back no later then Friday morning first thing. Again no call back so 1422hrs Friday afternoon with clients past needing a confirmation I called Kieran’s extension back again. He answered!! I reminded him that I was still waiting for his call due first thing this morning latest. He simply said they don’t have availability due to COVID container shortages. (Again fine no problem). My disappointment and frustration (as a business owner myself for 14yrs) is not getting a timely call back when I expressed in the initial conversation that I needed the info as soon as possible. (5 days to get a quote and availability is seems over the top when I was able to get quotes from PODS, Box me up, PUPS and Cubeit same day instantly on-line) As well as the cavalier, dismissive manner in which the info was offered up without apology or acknowledging the no call back and my having to call back myself. Rather then someone following up and following through with his commitment to call by morning the latest. Not to mention the curt abrupt manner in which he hung up the phone. The message to me was simply... since they would not be making any money off our transaction as they did not have container availability when I needed it, that I wasn’t an important or profit making worthy call back. This was my first attempt at sourcing this company to support a client transitions and I’m disappointed to say their customer service fell short. I book trucks & containers daily on-line with other service providers with ease. Of course not all experiences will be the same. However not a great first impression. My hope is not to offer a negative review but to highlight areas for improvement.

I first got in touch with a team member at Moving Box in October 2020, after passing by their storage facility in our neighborhood and getting their contact information on line. I had questions I needed information on including the following: - Any bugs in the containers? - Risk of rodents or other animals entering the container since they were stored outside? - Interior temperature control with the seasons especially winter and summer? - Risk of deterioration of quality of stored items with the changing interior environments? The team member on the phone answered all the above questions and indicated that the boxes are checked for bugs, that the boxes had openings for aeration and interior environment control but they were well sealed to prevent small animals from entering the box and the stored items did not deteriorate in their quality. I decided to rent the box of suitable size to meet the needs of storage of items needed to reduce contents in the house to be put on sale. All the transactions for renting of the box were subsequently done on-line. The box was rented in October 2020 and we just had the box returned June 18, 2021 after 8 months of storage and I had trepidation opening it to see if the contents were going to be usable or deteriorated and to our surprise everything was in excellent condition similar to how they were at the time of storage including our nice furniture and important documents and cushions. I would have no difficulty renting the box again in the future if needed storage. I would recommend renting the Moving box to anyone requiring short or long-term storage.

Highly recommend! Excellent service. Once paid, the box arrived next day and once we were done, called and the box was picked up next day. It was the easiest part of our move. Container was super clean and new. Driver did an excellent job parking the unit and placed wood pieces under container to ensure no damage to driveway which was appreciated. We just finished up my move this past weekend. We had the same driver who was extremely talented at getting our 20' container in place at our old house which had an uneven surface. The drop off at our new house which had a nice asphalt driveway and was softly touched down and then picked up after being in place for 5 weeks not a single mark or dent on the driveway. This month we've had some heavy rain, strong winds, snow and freezing temperatures and during the 5 weeks our contents sat in the container we had no moisture or condensation, no insects, and no mice even being in a rural location. The price Joan quoted us was really great compared to some of the others and when we needed the container for an extra month it was a quick phone call and a low monthly rate. The YouTube videos were extremely helpful for us to pack up our belonging. I would highly recommend the moving box for anyone looking to move from one place to another or store belonging for renovations.

Had a bin dropped off for a live load which is 2.5 hrs then they take it away. Well the movers from an other company I hired to come and were told of what the job was came and said they don't do that kind of job. My father who is 76 was left alone to do the work and he asked one of the movers to stay back and help and he did. After an hour I advised our driver Adam of what happened and he went to the home and helped my father load the rest of the bin. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for all their help. They truly went above and beyond.

They stepped up huge to find us a 20 foot container almost last minute when we had an issue with our reservation with another company, the gentleman who phoned us to confirm our container literally saved our weekend by arranging the delivery as well! We used Big Steel Box for a move from Ottawa to Victoria last month. From my initial phone call straight through to the empty sea container being picked up in Victoria everything was great. The staff were all polite courteous and knowledgable about how to go about my move. The driver we had in Ottawa as well as the driver we had in Victoria were professional skilled and very easy to deal with. My ex had a storage container on my property & left it when he moved out. I called them to have it picked up. They woman informed that it couldn't be moved until they spoke with him & she would have the owner call me. I went to work & come home to the storage container gone and all the garbage my ex left all over my lawn and the churches lawn next to my home. They never called me to inform me they where coming. If I would have been there I would have emptied it for them! So on top of a long shift at work & being a single mom, I had to come home and clean the yards at 9:30 at night! Thanks Moving Box!

Excellent Customer Service. I used the moving box for a renovation, and had a box delivered to my driveway. It was placed exactly where it was needed and it was picked up 1 day after requested. The box looks clean and new from the outside, and the inside was also clean and smelled nice. I had no issues with rain or snow.

Storage unit infested with mice!! My belongings were chewed up and saturated in mice urine and feces. 80% of my possessions had to be transported directly to the dump. I lost mattresses, carpets, all of my bedding and clothing, and all fabric furniture had to be discarded. All of my books were shredded and there were nests in the boxes and dresser drawers. Kitchen ware was rendered unsanitary. Home decor was stained with urine. This was a very sad and inconvenient and costly situation for me. Very disappointed that the facilities where my moving box was being held was not well maintained.

I don't usually do reviews but I honestly can't say enough good things about my experience with this company. Every interaction with the personnel was professional and actually fun. The guys who came to pick up and drop off the boxes were so kind and hilarious. They helped make a stressful situation feel a little better. Big Steel Box delivers on everything they say they will but ahead of schedule and with exceptional service. I won't move with anyone else and I recommend them to everyone. We moved 2500 miles and moving all our earthly possessions was the least complicated part of the process because this company rocks!
