I had a mixed experience with the appleby movers and I might consider them in future as a plan b. The good - they were available on my move day just 3 days prior to the date so that was a big relief. The crew was good, all three of them were nice, friendly, and did a good job. The bad - they changed me nearly $300 extra (for about 100 mins) for the commute from their location to mine and vice-versa while the google maps shows the two locations combined are at max 45 mins (30 mins for Mississauga and 15 mins for oakville) mins away in peak hours. The quote was from 9 to 5 (8 hours) they came at 9 and were done at 4:20 and they charged me for 9 hours. I didn’t argue that time because the crew was nice and I had too many things going on. I asked them on the phone whether it’s fair to charge $300 for commute and the guy said yes.

Awful experience with this company and would not recommend them. Instead of showing up with one large truck as we were promised, they had to make 3 runs with their small truck. We had hundreds of dollars in damage to our personal items, boxes dropped and left upside down and the owner so graciously offered to remove the items to be repaired by his own 'trusted' men.... We could not trust the moving capabilities, why would we hand over more items in his possession?! We bought the crew coffees and dinner, with no return of gratitude or kindness.
Checked off all items as delivered though at least a dozen were lost and not delivered. Damaged several other items.
Deciding on a mover is really based on 3 parts, the price, sales person impression, the move experience. The move experience is often based solely on reviews/referrals . If we based our decision solely on first impression of the sales person, we would have selected another company. No offence Jeff, just an honest comment. Our decision was ultimately based on price since our move was not going to take 8 hours as the other companies minimum declared on the estimate and Appleby had a 4 hour minimum with a competitive hourly rate per man. Jeff did answer all of our questions, calls and e-mails. We have moved many times and experienced many movers. The driver is usually the supervisor as he needs to instruct and manage the move efficiently. Our driver, Rich was a workhorse, he was organized and kept things moving well. Nothing to complain about other than some questionable quality boxes that we ended up not using. Thanks guys

Had the best experience with these guys. Professional, came on time. The movers were where so careful with all my stuff. I hired them to pack and wow. It was worth the money. Made my life much easier. Every box labelled for me, anything breakable was wrapped, they had clothing boxes etc. I recommend them to a customer of mine and they said the same thing. great experience and would hire them again. This is the third time Appleby Movers have moved someone in my family, but the first time for me. It really was the best moving experience I've had. The crew arrived exactly on time with a positive, reassuring attitude, never phased by the hiccups we faced during the move. Very polite, friendly guys. They dismantled and reassembled a rather complex bed which was a huge relief for me, and tightened up a couple of other pieces that were wobbly. Above and beyond. Throughout the day made me feel so much less stressed. These guys have my full respect and appreciation for a job very well done. Worth every cent.
Very impressive crew. Worked well together and everyone was in a good humour in spite of the cold weather snap that we experienced with -5 C weather. Not a single scratch. Truck packing was amazing and everything important was well protected. Would definitely recommend this company. The fellows were so kind as to arrange the furniture for me (and then to re-arrange when I didn't like it!). I have never experienced such thoughtfulness. Jay was a sweetheart - He had everyone's coffee orders memorized but I needed it in writing. Walter the supervisor was cracking jokes all day and that helped alleviate the nervous tension I was feeling about the move. A good humour goes a long way towards reducing stress.
This is our second time in the last five years using Appleby for a move/storage/move. These guys were very professional and pleasant, especially considering the job they had to do for us. They moved us from Burlington to outside of Erin. Our long, icy, unpaved driveway was a challenge on a cold, windy and snowy day. The driver, Jeff, was even wiping his boots as he walked in the house, while carrying his load. Thanks again guys!
Due to Covid 19, we had discussed with the owner before signing with the company, about their employees and PPE. I'm 8 months pregnant and high risk, so we were assured that the movers would wear PPE. We paid to upgrade to more breathable masks for them and had hand sanitizer at our house. When the movers showed up, one refused to wear the mask and then a second mover followed suit. My husband explained the risks to my health but they still refused. Upon calling and speaking with the owner about their disregard, he was told that the company had never said the employees would wear PPE, and then changed his story to say that there was nothing he could do to get his employees to wear it. Being stuck in that we had to move and couldn't get anyone else last minute, I had to leave the property to avoid the risk myself. Our belongings were moved without issue, but I could not be in our new house and then had to disinfect everything that they had touched. I wouldn't recommend this company based on the fact that they went back on a promise that had been the reason we signed with them in the first place, and that they refused to act although two of their the three employees were choosing to create unsafe conditions in my home.
Took advantage of my elderly mother, charged way more than quoted despite no changes to the job. Had to get our MPP, consumer protection and BBB involved. the owner was a complete a-hole the entire time, sending rude, trollish emails throughout the whole process.
Our initial meeting with Jeff went fine. He toured our home and gave us a quote and we hired them. On moving day, they showed up with a truck that was way too small for the job and had to go get another truck when the first one was full. The movers were extremely unprofessional. Every second word out of the lead mover’s mouth was the F word. This was in front of my 78 year old mother. Not only unprofessional but extremely disrespectful. He also yelled at his co-workers all day and treated them poorly. The floors in the house we were moving out of were damaged, as were the floors in the house we were moving in to. Our furniture was damaged and boxes were dropped and left upside down. The quote Jeff gave us at his visit to our house more than doubled on moving day. And this was after we had sold much of our furniture and other belongings in an Estate Sale. If anything, the move should have been less expensive, not more expensive, since there was less stuff to move. He obviously has no clue how to quote a move or he scams people on purpose. If I could rate zero stars, I would. This company is dishonest, extremely unprofessional and takes no care with your belongings.
Very happy with my experience. From the get go communication was top notch. The guys arrived on time and ready to work. It was a big job and they did great! No damage, friendly people and reasonable rates. I will use again, in fact due to the communication I decided to use the storage facility as well. Highly recommend using them for your next move!
AVOID THEM. Their insurance is a SHAM! The owner himself tries to fix things and brushes off your claims! I don't think they have any insurance company tie up. Also, Pricing is not clear. I thought the hours start from when they actually arrive but no it starts when movers actually start from warehouse. If I knew I should have got a Mississauga based company not Oakville add I paid 2.5 hrs extra. Also, there is always the disconnect between movers and the 'company' contracting them out. Not again with them.

I was under the impression that the girl in the 'About Us' section of the website would be moving me. NOT THE CASE! None of the movers were even close to that attractive. Although a certain ginger on the crew definitely caught my eye. Beyond that these guys are great. My friends and family have been using them for years!
Cant say enough great things about Jeff and his crew!!!They were on time,reasonably priced and were well prepared for moving all of our stuff and placing it where we wanted!They were hard working and so pleasant to have move us!We had alot of stuff and they organized everything carefully and would use them again in a heartbeat as this is our 2nd time using them!!:))

Would rate zero if possible. Do not use this company. I cancelled my move with Appleby more than a week before the planned move date. I then received a call from Jeff the owner swearing at me. He sent movers to my place even though I had cancelled. Use someone else who is professional and can read an email.
So incredibly impressed with the professionalism and outstanding service we received from Appleby Moving. They packed our china and glassware so perfectly it was clear that they took pride in their job. The crew was prompt, efficient, courteous and very accommodating. I would definitely use them again and would not hesitate to recommend them.
Chris and his 2 team members are helpful, friendly, and anxious to fulfill all things that make the move easy. Ready to do almost anything we requested. Timely and careful. We would highly recommend them anytime and if we move again they will be my first call. Thank you to the team that moved us.

Do not use this company! Floors and furniture damaged during the move and they tried to hide it. No answer to phone calls regarding this issue. Poor service and lack of professionalism on several levels. Terrible!

Horrible was charged more then quoted. Was not explained the charges on the bill. My fairly new couch is broken. They damaged my sons dresser. Along with stacking boxes so high in my garage that made it almost impossible to move with my bad back! I used this company that came highly recommended by a good friend. What a mistake! Will never use them again.
Three star for bring stuff from one place to another and ready to help with storage. But price was very misleading. Even the people who came to load stuff told me that were you qoate 5 hours for this? For storage they charge first 6 week flat rate and I was told I will be charged weekly base. And two week later when I had to pay I was told about 6 week charge. Again misleading conversations. Not happy. I was avoiding writing review but nothing was done about my complain. :(

Quoted one amount that became more on moving day. Took a deposit on booking but failed to deduct the amount from the final bill on my credit card. I called up to discuss this and was told I would be refunded the next day and that Jeff would also call to confirm this. No call and no money refunded so called again. During the second call I challange that, I was told one thing and this garante was not followed through on. A few days later still no refund so the wife called..she said the call was unpleasant and Jeff was abusive to her.. . Maybe take some advise and go with another company
We were extremely pleased with all aspects of our move with Appleby. We contacted the office and Chloe was most helpful. We were looking for a fairly quick turn around for an out of of town move. Chloe and Jeff we feel really went the extra mile accommodating us on short notice, were responsive and professional. Because of our timing we were unable to have an onsite quote prepared and had to do things on line. We were happy with the quote, lower than we expected and at the end of the move the final bill was over. $200 lower than the quote. The 3 man crew were efficient, careful, respectful of our things and Covid protocols. We found them first class in every aspect, a far different experience than our last move with a major competitor. Job well done thank you very much.

I recently moved and used Applyby Moving and Storage. This will be the third time I have used their services. I find the service excellent, the crew was on time, helpful and willing to go over and above for you! I especially liked the idea that the "garment boxes" where delivered on the day of the move!!!!! I never had a problem having boxes delivered to my home, wrapping paper, tape etc. I would rate this company a 5 star!!!Keep up the good work!!!!

I just finished a move with Jeff and his team and it could not have gone more smoothly. Jeff was very responsive and professional, the rates are very competitive and his team of movers were efficient and careful with everything they grabbed. I would highly recommend using them for your next move or storage needs.
Outstanding service, amazing crew. Professional, efficient and courteous. Not a glitch or a scratch with our big move from a 2 storeys 3 car garage to a bungalow 1 car garage! Appleby moving turned our stressful moving day into a great experience. Nothing but good things to say about them.
Would NEVER recommend. I purchased the insurance at a cost of $135.60. I have an expensive glass dining room table and it was damaged either in transit or from boxes being put on top of it. The entire table top is covered in scratches. The blanket used to wrap the table top could have contained grit that rubbed the surface during transit to create these scratches as the truck they used was not very clean. I needed to clean the upholstery on many items following the move. The company not only denies responsibility but refuses to put in an insurance claim. I believe they pocket the money you pay for insurance and hope they never have to settle a claim. The table was purchased at a cost of $2500 from the Art Shoppe in Toronto around 20 years ago. I never used the table without a tablecloth and Jeff Richardson claims that all of the scratches are normal wear and tear. He refused to send a glass company to even examine the table and at one point told me I should just buff out the scratches myself. He says I live to far to send anyone as I have moved 3 hours away however he had no problem accepting my money to move me that far. I have consulted a local glass company who have said there is pretty well zero chance of repair. I got a quote of $850 plus tax to replace the glass and Jeff seems to feel I should accept $400. And this only after repeated calls to him many of which were never returned. Ridiculous. I paid for insurance and I should be getting replacement value. Never use this company as they will not stand behind their services.
We moved mid July with Appleby Moving. Everything they said they would do they did. There were no surprises. The crew was very professional and courteous. I will use them again and would recommend them to friends and family.
