I've used Blackhawk for 4 interstate moves. I wouldn't use anyone else! They are literally the best. Very courteous, timely and take great care of my stuff. All of the employees are helpful and prompt in getting back to you. I highly recommend them. Actually, I have already recommended Blackhawk to several of my friends and to companies I have worked for. All of them have used Blackhawk and are extremely satisfied and reoccurring customers. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

Our experience with Blackhawk Moving & Storage was better than we could have hoped. From our first contact with the company, we felt we were in good hands. I had spoken with two other movers and investigated a drop ship service prior to calling Blackhawk. The other movers were not enthusiastic about accommodating our rather complicated request and the drop ship company was too inflexible to work with the managers of our gated community to be feasible. Blackhawk was different. Their team worked together with us and our storage company to ensure our belongings were carefully loaded and inventoried. They delivered them on time and the gentlemen who unloaded the truck took great care to protect our walls and our possessions. Not a single thing arrived broken and not a nick on the new paint. In addition, the load came in under budget, and we received our refund within two weeks! I highly recommend Blackhawk for short or long distance moves.

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME AND GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE I've moved across the country more times than I can count. And I have never worked with a worse company! Starting with the estimate, after receiving it. I threw out and donated 2 rooms worth of furniture and even then was told at the end of it that my estimate was 500 lbs lesss than what what it should have been. Which after removing 2 rooms of furniture makes 0 sense. When it came to the packers they hired, they literally threw my stuff into boxes until the halfway point and then stuffed the rest with paper, so that they can use more boxes. The movers themselves have broken the glass shelf in my expensive China cabinet. And Blackhawk is now refusing to pay for it or even take the blame even though I paid for extra insurance and the China was in perfect condition when they packed it and it was upon unpacking that I noticed the shattered glass. So logically the issue happened when it was with the movers. I have been trying to settle this issue for months now and they are refusing to work with me. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME AND GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

I was walking to my home on the public sidewalk in Lincoln park and the ramp was crossed over on the sidewalk from the truck. There was no access for the public to use the sidewalk. The movers said profanities to us and said to walk in the street. I would stay away from this moving company staff is very unprofessional

Small 2 bedroom apartment move that should have taken 3 hours and a maximum of $300 took over 8 hours and $700. And the “movers” literally cursed and yelled at each other the entire time. Told at 5 pm that’s it they have two other jobs scheduled they couldn’t do any more. No help from Todd the person I was told owns the company. The actual office phone is not being answered going on two days now and myself, and several others have all been calling to get this resolved.

I have used Blackhawk Moving twice to move "locally" while living in Illinois. BOTH times I was beyond impressed. Moving is always a nightmare but their team really made it easy and quick. Both times I used Blackhawk Moving I had professional and kind mover teams. They were fast and had a plan of action once they did a quick survey of my home and things to move. They had all the needed materials on hand and I was thoroughly impressed both times with just how fast the move went. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Our original moving crew told us at the eleventh hour they would be delayed -- and at the twelfth hour, they failed to show up. With a hard deadline for departure, Blackhawk sent a crew at the last minute; they not only got us out on time, but their loading job was a work of art -- I almost hated to have to unload it! Helped us when another mover stood us up. We had contracted with AAA Movers in Lake Zurich to load our rental truck. They stood us up. Fortunately, Blackhawk Moving was able to provide three movers on four hour notice. They were quite personable and loaded our truck professionally. Our belonging arrived with a minimum of damage. We recommend Blackhawk, not AAA Movers.

Stay far far away! I was moving from Manchester, NH to Chicagoland and my first initial contact was great, I was assured I had nothing to worry about. When in fact, they created more stress for my move. First, Blackhawk charged me an outrageous price for my 1 bedroom apartment. They knew my moving allowance because my employer had been working with them for years, so they up-priced me. When I asked why the price was so high they became defensive and very very rude. If that wasn't the bad, less then a week before I was moving they told me they couldn't move me out of my one bedroom apartment until 2 weeks after the date I requested because I hadn't reserved the date. From my perspective, my initial contact was the request to reserve. There was nothing explaining otherwise. When I mentioned how horrible my experience with them was, the office manager wrote back and said "Good luck with your relocation"- condescending much? Needless to say, despite having to pay out of pocket initially, I went with another company that is charging me $1100 less than Blackhawk for the same service. My advice, use another company.

Not happy at all. Worked to negotiate a fixed price for a set duration, and ended up getting charged over 50% more afterwards. The two guys loaded really quick, but to my shock, took longer/slower to unload. Since I thought my price was fixed, and I 'assumed' they knew that, I didn't feel it was my responsibility to jump on them to work faster. In the end, they charged me over 50% more, which was several hundreds of dollars more - that I didn't have or could afford. I feel that I was bait-and-switched on the price. I never would have gone with them knowing this. I was contacted the following day where I explained this and was told I'd be contacted. Well - still waiting. I would not recommend and will not use again.

We used Blackhawk Moving & Storage to move us from Northern Illinois to SW Florida. Our estimator, Don Voigt, was professional and very helpful in assisting us throughout our move. He provided us with good ideas to save us money i.e. doing our own packing, evaluating what was a must move item verses what should probably not be shipped. Our moving coordinator, Desiree Calderon, always kept us up to date on our transport and arrival dates and worked for us on accommodating the timeline we needed to follow. I can strongly recommend them for your long distance moving needs.

I would ask to NOT have Norry's group from Galesburg do the subcontracting for them. When they came they were very nice- good load- I know how to load- BUT when they dropped they were worse than bad- they were mean- that is the only way tp describe it. Heavy bookshelves and big furniture that went on last were left in the middle blocking little stuff at the walls- NOTHING was taken upstairs as was marked, a very meaningful piece of furniture was taken to the old basement and left on the floor with the legs off, heavy boxes on top of the heavy furniture in the middle, leaving barely a walkway- they could have done it better but they were just mean. If it wasn't mean then they are totally incompetent.

My family used Blackhawk Moving & Storage, associated with United Van Line, to relocate items that were left stranded from our initial move. Please do not hire Colonial Van Lines & agent Cal Van Lines as you will be VERY sorry! My family was traumatized by the lies, poor customer service, fraud, and damage to our household items that we experienced with Colonial Van Lines & agent, Cal Van Lines. Bo of Blackhawk assured us that what we experienced is not how reputable movers do business. Bo was right! The quote, inventory, and scheduling process was straight forward, without any lowballing, or over-promising. Miranda, our assigned coordinator, exceeded my expectations. She regularly communicated the status of our paperwork, pickup, and eventual delivery at our new house. The movers were on time, courteous, and very efficient at getting the job done. When our items arrived at our new location, their was no damage and our total cost was exactly what Bo originally quoted us. My only regret is not hiring Blackhawk for our original move.

I was looking for a "short-haul" mover (Chicago to Indianapolis) that would be full service b/c I am pregnant and with a toddler, and the less physical labor I did, the better. Blackhawk was recommended to me by Stevenson Transfer, who I had originally contacted and who was already booked for our move one month out. The salesperson, Mark Dobrow, who came to our home to give us our estimate seemed very thorough and competent, and he told me everything I wanted to hear including "we are not done with the job until everything is where you want it in your new home and we've taken all the boxes". great, sign me up. The salesperson LIED. He omitted unpacking services altogether from my quote and didn't mention the omission to me. Granted, I could have noticed that the quote said unpacking of mattress boxes but didn't state "all boxes" or something to that effect, but I have never booked a big move before and I guess you live and learn. I feel like the salesguy took total advantage of the fact that I didn't know what to look for. He certainly knew he'd verbally sold me on the total package and then left it off of his estimate. I didn't realize that we were up a creek with the unpacking until we were in our new home on move-in day. Very very frustrating. Other facets of the move - the packers from Blackhawk were great. They sent 5 guys the day before we left Chicago to pack up all of our belongings. They were done with our 3 bedroom place in about 5 hours and were all super courteous. We were impressed. Moving day, it was a totally new crew and one of the guys who was supposed to show up apparently had a sick day or something so we had only 3 guys instead of 4. It took them from 9 am until 7pm (!!!???!!!) to finish loading our things onto their truck. We don't have that much stuff - these guys were moving slooooww. We still had to clean the place one last time and drive to Indy after the guys left. Super annoying. Move-in day we had the same crew leader, who was a nice guy, and three new guys to move us into our new home. They worked quicker than the Chicago crew, but again they didn't have to do all that much since they weren't unpacking anything. The condition of our belongings post-move: My biggest complaint is that they didn't wrap any of our upholstered furniture in clear plastic wrap, even though it says in Blackhawk's marketing materials that they will. Because of that I am going through a claims process to try to get compensated for a chair that has dirt scuffs on the side, another chair where the upholstery itself is scuffed in multiple places, and a white shelf that has the paint scraped off of it at the top. Could have all been avoided if they'd used plastic wrap like they said they would. Bottom line, we got here with all of our things, but Blackhawk's salespeople are dishonest, and their movers, while nice enough guys, are slow and a little careless.

If you go to their website they claim that they do specialized moving such as medical office equipment medical equipment such as x-ray machine or lab equipment. Based on that I decided to use them to move both Furniture and medical equipment from my medical practice. Upfront they were told the value and sensitivity of this medical equipment particularly the lab equipment which is a mass spectrometer. It is a $250,000 piece of equipment. Also a C-arm imaging unit Which is a $125,000 piece of equipment. And of course the furniture exam tables and chairs etc. Removing the furniture there wasn’t much of an issue other than mild scratches and dings. The lab equipment was delivered nonfunctional and of course they were made aware of it and did not take any responsibility. They specifically carry policy low limits on their insurance policy which is not only fraudulent for the industry, but negates their qualifications to be carrying expensive medical equipment. After months of trying to end this peacefully they refused to submit the claim to their insurance, and the cost of the repair was $17,000 out of my pocket. They delivered the C-arm x-ray machine completely damaged. All the housing was detached from the body of the machine. It’s a very difficult thing to do unless you are literally abusive with the equipment. That was approximately $1000 to repair. They are careless they are reckless and they do not take responsibility PLEASE BE AWARE. I would not recommend them to move to anymore. They would find a way to damage sponges and newspapers if you have them move it. Very unprofessional very fraudulent with their billing, and they carry policy limits on their insurance far far far below industry standard.

I can't recommend this company enough! I was stuck in a situation where a different moving company was holding my property hostage and trying to extort me for an additional $2K, but Blackhawk was able to rescue all of my property from American Home Relocation moving company. They were extremely friendly and quick to pick up my property and complete the move. They documented all the damage the previous company had done to my property, and professionally packed all of my items to ensure no damage was done while it was under their control. They were able to move my property down to the destination, and unloaded all my items in a timely manner. There was a minor delay in the delivery date, but Blackhawk called me the day prior and told me they were working very hard on tracking the shipment and resolving the delay. Overall I was so satisfied with the quality of the move and the ease of working with this moving company. I will definitely use them for my future moves.

If I could do it all over again... STAY AWAY! Do not use Blackhawk Moving. The surveyor came out and reviewed the entire household. He did not note the washer and dryer. Needless to say we needed 5 containers not the 3 that he had first quoted. Price jumped another $900. We did not have a choice, had to swallow the extra charge due to move out date. When the household was delivered, it was on a Penske truck, no containers. Spoke to Customer Service Mgr: Eli Harrington (no help at all) Asked to speak with owners Daniel Harrington or Dave Montgomery and was not given the opportunity to speak about our experience. Wish I would have looked at reviews prior to hiring Blackhawk Moving.

Terrible customer service. Lied about only using employees. Shattered my vintage solid marble plant stand. After two months, still no resolution. They unreasonably tell you they do not stand behind what their own workers document. They tell you the opposite of what their own repairman tells you. I do NOT recommend this business.
