Bekins did an outstanding job with my long distance move, I have zero complaints. The movers were quick and efficient, they took apart my furniture and carefully wrapped everything. Upon arrival at my new location, the movers put my boxes and furniture where I directed them to, and they helped put back together my bed frame. There was no damage to anything nor any missing boxes which I have had issues with in the past with other moving companies. They were very accommodating and even stored extra furniture that didn't fit into my new place. Bekins and their crew outdid themselves, highly recommend!

Unfortunately I had a bad experience with Bekins Moving and Storage. They were part of a move I had with Campbell Moving Systems. My original estimate based off of weight was exactly $2,765.21. I had just moved about 10 months earlier with another company and the price was approximately the same so I was happy. This time, I was moving less stuff so I would have looked elsewhere if the price was substantially higher than before. In the end, when my stuff arrived, the price I was charged was $3,804.07! My mistake was that I only partially weighed my load before having it shipped (I was having stuff dropped off in two different locations). I was a fool for being trusting. I weighed the load going to the second drop off location and I had made a very educated, close (I weighed every thing again later as I was in disbelief and felt cheated) estimate of the first load. The weigh ticket had stated that this second load was exactly 400 lbs above its actual weight. They did not know I had pre-weighed that load. Sadly, there is really nothing I can do. I made every effort to explain that there was some mistake in rational terms like a honest human being, but I hit so many walls I had to give up. Employees on the opposite side of the country from where it was weighed, who had never seen the shipment or heard about it until I complained insisted that the weigh ticket is infallible and is impossible to manipulate or falsify. I can think of several easy ways off the top of my head, e.g. weigh an item twice from the two different loads. It only came to my attention later that CBC Marketplace had done an episode on movers taking advantage of families who did not pre-weigh their shipment. I weighed the entire load afterwards and had gotton 974 lbs. I had estimated to them 900 lbs when getting the original quote. I had paid for 1620 lbs to be shipped across the country. That is 646 lbs of overcharges. That is 66% of my original load! I personally weighed each box/"item" so I know with 100% certainty that there was an honest mistake or an intent to take advantage and overcharge. I hope somebody reads this and will think twice before trusting the moving company to weigh your shipment(s) for you. At least be there while they are weighing it. In response to your response: Thanks for replying first of all. I realize there were at least 3 companies involved so I wrote a review for each company since each company is deflecting to the other. Unfortunately I was not informed of the weight and charges after the load was weighed. That sounds like a good standard protocol however. My move did happen in September and I brought up my concern when I was given the bill, but only formally started addressing it a month or so afterwards in which I was unsuccessful, as you can imagine I had just moved across the country and was searching for work, etc. I had planned on pursuing it, but it was no longer a priority of mine as I realized I was helpless in what I could actually accomplish. I did mention having moved my friend’s goods as well. It’s all there in the 3rd paragraph. The original estimate I gave in the review was the one that included my move and my friend’s goods. I’m sorry you feel as though the information is misleading, it is not. My only recourse was to review the companies involved in the move so that other future clients could be more careful knowing my experience. Thank you for highlighting that Campbells Moving and United Van Lines were also involved. Suffice it to say, I still know for a fact that the weight charged was not the actual weight and as a consequence the actual charge was more than $1000.00 than the estimate. I expected a difference for sure, but not $1000.00 and not an inaccurate weight. It would have been amazing if we could have all weighed it together, but unfortunately we didn’t and my weight is vastly different than the weight you or whoever got. In fact, EXACTLY 400 lbs different for my friend's shipment; for such an accurate scale, exactly 400 lbs seems suspect.

Had a horrible experience with another company that delayed, did not show up when promised, outright lied about where their trucks were. Called and spoke with Bekins and Leigh in dispatch and he made it all happen inside 24hrs!! Kept in touch, followed up and completely rescued the situation out of complete chaos. I'm not one for writing reviews or giving out accolades for services I am paying for, but this is the exception. My wife and I are in our late sixties, sold our 5 bedroom home and purchased a small strata unit. Both my wife and I have some medical issues making the move more difficult than normal. Topping it off , our possession dates didn't line up and we would have to put our belonging in storage for 3 weeks. I began to shop around for a moving company and received a number of estimates. I did not feel comfortable with any of those companies as they treated you as if they were doing you a favour for even talking to you. I than contacted Bekins Moving in Kelowna and spoke to Dawn Miller. It was like night and day. Dawn was professional, straight forward, knowledgeable and very personable. Dawn answered all my questions and put me at ease about the upcoming move. Dawn promptly sent us a written and firm quote, set up the times and dates, arranged the storage, and basically looked after everything related to the move. Than came the moving and delivery days. Prior to both we were contacted confirming arrival times. On the loading day 3 young men arrived on time with a clean well equipped moving truck. There was no standing around. Runners were rolled out protecting the floors and carpets. All furniture was wrapped. Beds were disassembled and mattresses protected. These men worked hard and did not stop. Very professional and conscientious. All done in record time. Three weeks later came delivery. Everything went smoothly. Furniture was unwrapped, assembled if needed, and placed. Again extremely professional and hard working young men. To say my wife and I were happy with the service we received from Dawn and the young men is an understatement. Moving with Bekins was a great experience until the final minutes when it came to tracking hours worked and billing accurately. Bekins was one of the only companies we could find to give us a quote/estimate for a local move. We really wanted to have a ballpark of what we should expect to pay. Ashley, a moving consultant, came and looked at our stuff and gave us an estimate. She was very pleasant to deal with and answered all of our questions and handled our change requests up to the move date. It was very reassuring to have one point of contact leading up to, during and after the move. The other companies we considered for our move didn't instil much confidence that they were on top of our moving dates, requests, and items being agreed to. Moving dates and times were confirmed for us a few days in advance which was appreciated. Day 1, Kevin and Adam arrived to pack. They were very pleasant to deal with and were very quick and efficient. Day 2,, Jodi, Matt and Kevin arrived to move us. We were supposed to have 4 guys move us out but we were only given 3, with no explanation as to why the change and how it would affect our final bill. They were all very pleasant to work with and wrapped every piece of furniture diligently and were very careful not to damage the house. Day 3, unloading day at the new house. Floor runners were placed all throughout the house and everything was unloaded carefully and placed in the proper rooms. The guys were even pleasant when we changed our mind and asked them to move something somewhere else. The turn in our experience came when we were presented with the final bill. We were overcharged on the hourly rate $10/hr for the loading and unloading rates and we overcharged actual hours by 2.5 hours. At the end of the unload, they wanted me to sign off on the final charges. I said the hours weren't accurate and I wouldn't sign anything until it was sorted out. They said someone from their office would call me on Monday to sort it out before my credit card was charged. Monday morning I receive a notification from my bank that a charge was made by Bekins without my credit card present for the full amount. After speaking with Tyler in Dispatch at Bekins, the 2.5hrs and the extra $10/hr rate was reversed from my credit card. Even after rolling back the erroneous charges, we were still charged a lot for driving. I had documented the following arrival and departure times and have put in brackets the times that their GPS in their trucks said they left and returned to the warehouse: Packing Day: 8:20 - 1:00 (7:20 - 1:50 i.e. 1hr 50 min of driving) Loading Day: 8:20-3:50 (7:28 - 4:54 i.e. 1 hr 52 min of driving) Unloading Day:8:20 - 2:00 (7:20 - 2:35 i.e. 1hr 35 min of driving) I'm not sure where exactly their warehouse is but 1 hr of driving each way for a local move seems excessive. This resulted in paying for 5 hrs and 15 min of driving at between $120-$170/hr (>$800 total!!). I don't think the customer should be penalized on a "local move" because the moving company's warehouse isn't located within Kelowna city limits. It also doesn't seem reasonable to charge out the movers driving time at the same rate as their moving rates, especially when someone like us is paying for over 5 hours of driving time for a local move. Constructive feedback for the company: What could you have done to receive a 5 star review? -Be more upfront and transparent with logged times - It's clear you have GPS reports for each truck. Providing a copy of this to the customer so they can see exactly when the truck left the warehouse and returned would be valuable, help them to understand their final bill and result in less disputes. -Charge out your movers at a more reasonable rate during driving time vs charging them out at the full moving rate, or charge a flat driving time for local moves -Better dispute resolution. My credit card shouldn't have been charged when there were errors on the final invoice. -Follow-up to enquire how the experience was!

Ray's moving in Saskatoon contracted to use this mover on August 18, 2021 to do a move on Oct. 1, 2021 for us. We relied on the fact that they were going to provide the service they agreed to, but they bailed on us with very short notice. DO NOT RELY ON THIS COMPANY!!!! They were hired on Aug. 18, 2021 to do a move on Oct 1. We spoke on the phone with their admin and they confirmed that they had been hired by Rays and would do the move. Then told us on Sept. 17, 2021 that they would not do the move on Oct. 1, 2021. UNPROFESSIONAL! HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! Seriously, do not hire these people, they think nothing of cancelling on you with 2 weeks notice. ZERO STARS! Rays Moving is going to do the best they can to do our move on October 1, 2021 and we give them 5 stars for stepping in and hopefully completing our move on the set date. The Manager of Bekins did call me to talk about the review. He was not listening and was raising his voice so I did end the call. I did not appreciate being treated like that. He certainly did not know how to deal with an unhappy customer because yelling at them does not work.

Total pros, three guys showed up on time with all right equipment. Newer truck with a tailgate, ramp, dollies and pads. They moved our house in record time, no breaks just got at it right away, super efficient. The lead man Dean was great to work with. No damages either.

I had a long-distance move with this company and had an awful experience with them. I would never recommend them and now will have to pursue legal action against them. There are many other moving companies that are trustworthy, and my experience is this company is not.

We booked a move from kelowna to Barcelona, the beginning was good of course they quoted us a higher price than any other company but we thought that they would take better care and be more personal - so we paid the extra. The in home assessment went well and that was about it. The packing took 3 days- AND they tried SO hard to make us store our items - they would have had us store for a Month waiting for a document you can only get when you have already arrived. Then it would have been an additional 46 days at sea. The over seas packing was a little bit insane (they paper wrapped plastic and Tupperware and one item at a time... Easily could have fit more in the boxes (rip off). The thing that really upset us though was that they couldn’t even cover the port fee at the delivery location (which most companies do)- they merely told us we had to pay an additional $700 on top of the THOUSANDS we steady spent or we wouldn’t get our stuff. I wouldn’t consider them for an international move. They seem nice but their prices are higher than other companies AND they undercut. Not impressed.

We had Bekins move us on October 1, 2016. Nathan came out about a month before the move and provided us with a quote of 'around' $3500. It was a local move within Kelowna. They came in the day before and packed and we were pleased with the packing job. The day of the move the crew showed up and things started off fairly smoothly. The previous owners were out of the new house when the first load was ready to go and my husband was at the new house supervising the unload and I stayed at the old house to clean. I will say that all of our things got moved to the new house. Bekins was not necessarily responsible for that however. Every room that they were supposedly 'finished' with had something(s) left in it and by the time it was all said and done my son and I had moved 4 pickup boxes full of stuff ourselves. These were not flammable and therefore unmovable things, these were just things that no one bothered to take. I had just arrived at the new house (after finishing up at the old house and moving the last load of things left behind) when I was asked to sign and pay. The amount of the bill was $5400.00-a far cry from the $3500 we were quoted. I was also asked to sign and acknowledge that there was no damage. I asked how I was supposed to know that since I had not been at the house and was told that I had 24 hours to look over the stuff and get back to them. At this point I was tired and more than a little frustrated and just wanted them out of my house, We had been told that they would take all the empty boxes with them and they did not do that. We had to collapse everything and then phone at a later date to arrange pick up. I did think that at some point I would be contacted and asked how the move went or whether or not I was satisfied. I have never heard from this company again. Who runs a business with zero follow up? Did we get moved? Yes. But the extra $2000 above the price quoted and the rest of the unprofessionalism just left us feeling very dissatisfied with these people. They were recommended by our real estate agent and while we didn't want her to feel bad about her reference we did let her know that she might need to find a different moving company to recommend to her clients.

From the time they came and gave a quote, to the movers in Surrey and then the movers in Kelowna everything went very smoothly, on time and everyone was very helpful and professional. They made a situation that could have been difficult very easy. The movers in Surrey wrapped up every piece of furniture and took care with all her belongings. The movers in Kelowna were very fast and efficient because we had a timeline to get her stuff in. They put together any furniture that needed assembly. Moving during Covid: Yikes! What terrible timing. I can't say enough about the excellent service provided to us by Bekins Moving and Storage out of Kelowna. We were out of country when Covid hit and were unable to attend the process in person. Shannon from Bekins met our realtor and provided an estimate which was very close to what we expected. The office was extremely accommodating and quick to respond to my questions and concerns of which there were many given the timing of the move. For various reasons relating to the pandemic we had to make changes to both the packing and moving dates and to the delivery dates. No problem! Everyone was polite, helpful, efficient, and accommodating - Shannon, Dawn in the office, Les, the dispatcher and Goeff, the driver and boss of the delivery crew and the members of the delivery crew themselves as they unloaded our belongings for us once we made it to Vancouver Island. This company is professional, efficient and excellent value for the money. I hope we don't have to move for a very long time but if we do we will definitely call Bekins. I can recommend Bekins Moving and Storage without reservation.

I was having difficulty finding someone to help move a large 10,000lb commercial generator from Calgary, AB to Sooke, BC. Dawn from Bekins took on the challenge and organized the entire move for me. It was a complicated move as it involved special equipment to load the heavy item onto a freight truck, transporting the item from Calgary to Vancouver Island which is accessible by ferry only, and again special equipment to get the item off the truck. The entire move was coordinated and managed by Dawn and the price was considerably less than quoted from other companies even though they did it 4 weeks sooner than what other companies could do it.

I had served my tenant an eviction, which she tried to fight and was ultimately unsuccessful. She left her packing etc to the last minute and when these movers showed up she was FAR from ready. They told her they had to leave as she had 14 hours worth of work to do. She called and cried to someone over the phone, while I left for work worried I'd never get her lazy self out of my house! When I came home at 4pm that same day I was ASTONISHED that they had managed to get her moved! We're talking all her stuff was still sitting on bookshelves, she had only packed about 5 or 6 boxes (and that took her 2 days). Turns out the company made arrangements with her to pack her stuff up since she had to be out that day and they did it in an amazing time and hardly charged her much more than her original quote! I will recommend this company ANY time anyone needs a great mover!!! Their customer service was out of this world!

Here it is some months ago, (see below), and which just had to be replied to saying I was a troll! If that comment on the troll is erased then all good but he did write it! And geez it was not like I rated these guys 1 star but the TROLL comment warrants now a 1 star, yes? Cause he is out for HIMSELF ONLY! Clearly shows that again by that dumb comment made and was my whole point. Still leaving at 3 stars though! My review some months ago... Bekins is just out for themselves and do not suggest other movers in Kelowna like ourselves so to that is best a 3 star rating to give.

we were ready to book with them, the assesser Nicole came out, gave us a quote, but then from that point on communications failed big time. Sending her an email for a question, took 3 days to get a reply.. never did she answer the phone when we tried each time, so you leave a message, took 3 days for a response again. She said that is so not like her she is always quick, then we had another simple question, had to leave voicemail again... this was last Thursday, still have not heard back. So we had no choice to book with someone else, eventhough we ere ready to book with Bekins as they are local. It was a $10000 bill which we were ready to do.. How hard is it to respond?? very disappointing that part. the other company responds within 2 hours via email each and every time I had a question.... I can't comment on the actual service of moving, but the communications part really bad, so that made me worry as well, once you book and pay, how things might be.. sorry, I didn't want to leave this review..

Very unprofessional with no customer follow up service for loss and/or damage. They lost quite a few of my items, and I sent in a claim with no response from them. Not recommended for a senior with disabilities living alone. There is no humanly possible way to tell what is missing and lost within 48 hours after they just dump stuff all over the house, not even in the right rooms. And this was stuff that filled a 2800 sq foot home. Would never recommend this company to a senior.

Missing a broom and one damaged lamp shade but apart from that super excellent. On the day of packing and loading Chad and his team showed up on time as advertised. All the while the 4 Chad and the 3 other workers we joking and in a good mood. Moving is stressful and their attitudes and being happy with what they were doing certainly made it more enjoyable. The next day was unload day and Chad told us they would be 20 minutes early for their elevator slot as they would get the ramps down and have everything in order to start unloading when their slot time was there. Sure enough they showed up early and got at it and in no time we were unloaded all the while that same joking, light attitude. It certainly seems they enjoy their work. Thanks to Chad and his team on both days and thanks to Shannon for arranging everything and Nicole for being patient with us when the app didn't work so itemize everything over the phone to get us our quote. Two Thumbs UP to Bekins. 5 star bunch
