The team were exactly on time and worked super fast and efficiently. Before the move, I was a bit worried about moving some pieces of furniture through a very narrow hallway. But they moved all the valuables very efficiently through the tight spaces in my house. All the stress of the “big move day” dissipated as soon as I saw how friendly, careful, fast & efficient the guys were! I couldn’t be happier... Also Amanda from their office who helped me set this up was amazing. We had a video conference call/walk through our townhouse and surrounding environment so there were no surprises, (we have 3 sets of stairs even before we get to the front door, + 4 sets of stairs in the townhouse), when the team arrived. They knew exactly what to expect even before arriving at our place, and were well prepared. Upon arriving at our new place, (after a long rainy day... and it was a miserable wet day), the team unloaded all our stuff with the same cheerfulness, carefulness & efficiency, that they started with in the morning.. (I was super impressed, since even I was already grumpy & tired, as I’m sure they were...and yet we managed to have some laughs during breaks.) I’m so grateful to Amanda and the team at Rent-a-Son for making our move day super smooth and easy... We hired Rent-a-Son for our two part move from our 3000 sq. ft. house first for staging excess contents into storage and then the final move to our new house. Right from first contact, our move coordinator, Erika, was excellent and the moving team of Julian, Junior, Tyrell, Liam and Attimus were extremely professional. What struck me as special was how postive and upbeat the team remained through one of the hottest days of the year as well as a challenging destination access. They took extremely good care in prepping and wrapping our furniture and nothing was damaged...not even a scratch. Also, their pricing is very competitive if not lower than their competition. I will highly recommend Rent-a-Son to all my friends and family.

We'd heard a lot of horror stories about moving companies but ended up choosing Rent-a-Son because we'd heard how generous they'd been in helping to set up a house for a family of Syrian refugees - seemed like our kind of people. We actually already submitted a request for a quote from another company before we heard about Rent-a-Son but they never got back to us and we figured that fit with what we were hearing about the experience of finding a moving company. First of all, the process of talking through the move and getting the initial quote was clear and concise and very friendly so that made us pretty confident about committing to RaS. But no guarantees, right? By the time moving day came we'd already moved some items on our own (we had the luxury of a longer window to execute our move) so we revised the inventory. Having said that, once the movers arrived it became apparent that we had more smaller boxes than anticipated and we hadn't even considered moving the clothes on moving day until the RaS guys offered us these amazing wardrobe boxes that were just so perfect we couldn't say no. Mark, Anthony and Shaquille were awesome on the big day: friendly, professional and super efficient. My wife and I would see one of the guys walking past blithely carrying some item we'd struggled to lift between the two of us. At one point I was feeling guilty and offered to help with something and Mark just said: "Don't worry about it - that's why we're here!" Although in many ways were were well prepared for the move, I'd imagine we tuned out to be only slightly;y above average in terms of readiness for the move. Nonetheless, the guys were finished loading us out of one place and into the the other in 3.5 hours total and our final invoice was almost $200 less than the original estimate. From start to finish, we are grateful that we seem to have avoided the fate of so many of our friends and acquaintances who've executed moves and we owe that feeling of gratitude to Rent-a-Son, who were a delight to work with from first contact to moving day.

Yelled at me TO STOP GIVING HIM ATTITUDE. They were wrong and hired by somebody in my condo. This is over them blocking my street level parking spot that I own - hubby's due to come home with the car soon. They might be nice to YOU and RUDE to your neighbours. This is what I wrote to them: Your moving company that was hired by SOMEBODY ELSE in the building chose to block the parking spots owned by units 116 and 118. YOUR STAFF parked your moving truck on the street right in front of and completely blocking the street level parking spots WHICH WE OWN - this is a condo. I'm the owner of 116. I approached YOUR staff at 1645 and asked one of them directly how long they will be blocking our parking spot. The man didn't answer. I then informed him that I need YOUR TRUCK to move by 7 pm because my husband will be returning with our car. He then yelled back that he won't be here long and I should STOP GIVING HIM ATTITUDE. This man's verbal behaviour attracted the attention of his coworkers. They attempted to be diplomatic after this inappropriate and unprofessional outburst. They were told, by me, that I own both the 116 condo and the street-level parking space that is accessible directly from the street. Unbelievably, one of YOUR staff was standing on the parking spot that I own and I was actually having to tell him that he's trespassing on my parking spot. Additionally, they were also told by me that they should have contacted the superintendent regarding parking procedures and moving procedures for this retrofitted condo - the loading dock is very different from new build condos. The pictures are taken from the street and out of my glass front door. Can anyone park a car through this moving truck? Am I not blocked in? At 5:15pm, the occupant of the parking space for unit 118 returned and YOUR staff moved YOUR truck backwards so that she could reverse into the space that she rents from my next-door neighbours. The condo's superintendent was in the building's loading dock so, logically, your less unprofessional staff likely called her, after following my advice. I'm disgusted at your company because I own one of the parking spots that YOUR staff blocked out of ignorance (lack of knowledge) and when I told YOUR staff that they will be blocking units 118 and 116 from parking their cars in the parking spots they own - I was told to STOP GIVING HIM AN ATTITUDE. I really love it when people who are wrong deliberately chose to escalate a minor conflict by accusing the other person of "giving them attitude". Nice company culture - I've never used your company and I'll be having fun telling this story of MY ATTITUDE. YOUR staff escalated a minor conflict into a couple of written complaints. A better and more diplomatic staff would say: I was not aware that I was blocking condo parking spots. I will telephone the superintendent to sort this out. Can you give me 30 minutes to resolve this? Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Have a nice day. Two Men and a Truck.

Great company. We had a 1 bedroom condo in Toronto moving into a basement apartment in Ottawa. For a 1 bedroom condo, I thought that we had a bit lot of stuff. However even the small 2 man team handled the move with speed and great care. Not a crease on a book or a ding on a wall. I would gladly recommend them to anyone. If we ever have another move into or out of Toronto we will certainly be calling on them again.

I booked a loading service for a shipping container in Toronto. My move coordinator was really helpful, professional, and fairly responsive from start to finish (and it's for him I'm giving the service 4 stars). I would actually rate 3-3.5 for the movers themselves for two reasons: 1. at the end of the job (which took less than 1.5h despite the 4h minimum charge), I realized I'd forgotten something important but they were already getting ready to leave because they had been called to another job. They essentially rushed off when I had them booked for 4h, and it wasn't a change that would have taken much time anyway. My coordinator couldn't reduce the minimum charge to 2h but as an alternative solution sent two other guys the following Monday morning to pack the last piece, which only took them 5-10 minutes. 2. I have two mobile kitchen units with ceramic tops and noticed those ceramic tiles had cracked some when I unloaded my stuff - probably they should have been better padded or not have anything stacked on top, so I'm disappointed about that. Overall, my coordinator Rob was great; movers were friendly and detail-oriented for the most part, but a bit casual and not always helpful with input on how things should be packed, and I wasn't impressed with how they rushed off at the end of such a short job when I had them booked for 4h. At least it worked out in the end, but the additional stress wasn't fun.

I moved recently and chose Rent-a-Son due to the services they offered and their competitive pricing. I was moving out of a small 1 bedroom condo (400 sq. ft), required 10 days of storage, and drop off at the new location. Junior and Fabio were the crew for the first part of the move. They arrived on time with great attitudes, checked in on any special requirements. They brought in blankets for my furniture and took good care wrapping everything securely. Everything was documented, marked and accounted for. The estimated time for packing was adjusted to reflect the actual time spent, which in my case, came under. The items were then held at the Rent-a-Son location for 10 days. Fabio and Jeron unpacked the load at the new location. This, once again took shorter than the estimated time. While I would not call the movers fast, they were not slow either. Because of their diligence with my items, the only piece broken was a mug, which I packed in a box myself. Rest of the furniture pieces, including all of the boxes returned to me in the exact same condition. The coordinator, Erika Jackman, was exceptional in communicating with me from the beginning of the process and following up once the move was complete. I highly recommend this company and will most likely use their services in the future.

The attention and service was excellent and second to none, the team was super professional from customer service to the sons. I am super happy that we used Rent-a-Son. They showed up on time -even a few minutes early- and delivered an impeccable service. The only hiccups was because one of the sons was sent home early (he looked like he had a very, um, rough night) but the remaining 3 sons made up for it and it was seamless. Our items were taken care of, not a single glass was broken. Seriously, great service. I would use and recommend Rent-a-son every single time.

The move was between two condos, with elevator time-slots pre-booked, one of them in a very busy location. I was a little reluctant to move forward with Rent A Son as I had a budget in mind for my move. I quickly discovered that I was not at all realistic with the type of service I wanted. Plus, I didnt want to buy a Coach bag when I really wanted a Louis Vuitton. Paying the few extra dollars was money well spent, and actually reasonable as I had an additional pick up outside of the city. My items were handled with extreme care and was quickly expedited. Hired Rent-a-Son for a move from Toronto to Guelph. 3 movers were hired. The head mover was very nice and was at our place 20min early, the 2nd exactly on time. We got to sign them in at the time they arrived so there is no question. The only hiccup was the 3rd mover arrived 2hrs late, just as we were leaving. The packing of our fragile items always really good. Nothing was broken. The unloading was good. The final price was under the quoted price. If it hadn’t been for the late 3rd mover I would have left 5 stars. I do recommend them despite the hiccup. Would use again.

I've used this company in the past but the last time I was truly disappointed. The movers were late, were slow, took them over 2 hours to arrive to the new location (I took a cab 10 minutes before then and arrived in 35) and then, they had to rush since they were late by 3.25 hours! The building concierge was not impressed since they had to put the elevator back in service. Now that I re-arranged some of my furniture I can see some things were damaged. I contacted the company about the time issues and never got a response, yet I was billed for all their delays.

I submitted a contact form and then received a quote. I replied with requested info and then didn't hear from them even a week later. I called and spoke to someone, saying I hadn't received a response yet. They said they would follow up. I got an email replying with an apology for the delay. I then replied to that email with further requested info and didn't hear back for another 4 days. I called again and the person on the phone said they had my profile but no booking details. I cancelled my request and called El Cheapo - used them twice before and they are great, they quoted my 50% less than Rent-A-Son - and my move request was processed right there on the phone. Didn't take weeks of no responses.

Overall a postive experience with the crew. A couple of banged up walls (the boss was experienced - the crew wasn't ) but otherwise my stuff arrived without incident. The team showed up on time and other than some trouble with the truck the move went as planned. This IS a pricy option though - you are paying a premium price for hassle free service... just bear that in mind.

Don't get fooled by some reviews, I have hired Rent-a-son to ship my stuff from Toronto to the northwest of Ontario, I have paid more than $5000 just to get my stuff safe, Unbroken and most importantly not stolen. After a Month of waiting and that's Because they were behind the schedule, I was surprised that they have hired a third party American Van-lines Ltd to pick my stuff. After I have received my shipment, 2 bedroom furniture items were vey badly damaged, and some boxes are open and missing stuff. Right after I signed the contract with Rent-a-son they just pass me to their third party and let me dealing with them directly without interfering to resolve the problem. The claim have been submitted and I only get reimbursed half the price of the value of the broken furniture. For the stolen Items they declined my claim for it. Overall, very bad experience , If I were you I would just look for other company or you may just hire a small company for less cost because rent-a son may just give you the same outcome.

The "head guy" didn't like the fact when someone more experienced then him guided & almost took over the unloading job because this clown doesn't even know how to load skids properly. Started a fight and couldn't even apologize to the warehouse manager for his mouth except for 2 workers that were great & apologized on his behalf for his mouth. I paid for 9 workers, only 4 were working non stop. I would pay more money and get professionals.

The team at Rent-A-Son was great to work with for our local move. Rob at the office talked with me a few times because the complexity of the arrival point and we strategized ways to make it easier for the crew to move the items into the new house. It was good to have his experience and insight. The crew of Junior, Jowel, Hanniel, Steven and Johnathon were amazing! So fast, but very organized and careful with our items. Everything arrived safely and the entire move came in under the estimated time allotted. We did have everything boxed up and disassembled for them and that also helped the timing!

Scheduling the move was a good experience. However, ran into issues on the day of the move, that I tried to address with Rent a Son, only to be ignored. I had a minimal amount of items to move (bed, dresser, bookcase, couch, TV stand, desk, small table, microwave, clock, a dozen medium and small boxes). The young men who arrived from Rent a Son were pleasant enough, but were in no rush to get the job done. It took them over two hours to load my items into the truck, during which they broke the microwave plate (it was bubble wrapped), they did apologize. As I was leaving my condo, I noticed they had also broken a light switch. It then took them over 2 hours to drive what should have been 45 minutes to my storage facility (I left 15 minutes ahead of them). When I called (twice) to find out where they were, they kept saying they would be there in a few minutes. When they did arrive they told me their GPS took them the long way. They began to unload, again with no sense of being on the clock. Noticed my desk had also been broken (beyond repair). At this point as they unloaded the boxes, I began moving myself because my estimated 4.75 hours I had been quoted to move was now over 7 hours. At the end when I signed off on the move, it included packaging I had not requested nor did the movers ask me if I wanted. I advised them I would discuss this with the person at Rent a Son who provided the estimate and coordinated the move. One email during the move, one email after the move and also completed the feedback form sent to me. 10 days later, I am still waiting for a response from Rent a Son. Sadly, because of my experience I would not recommend this company.

The booking experience was simple - just filled out an online form and Alex and Amanda were there to help coordinate the whole move and ensure that I am comfortable with the logistics of Move Day. Junior and Vannak showed up at my Condo 10 minutes before schedule and got right to work. They were courteous and polite, and carried a can-do attitude with everything they do. Most importantly, they protected my furniture as if it's their own, and was tremendously efficient! Cleared out of my Condo within 2.5 hours (my entire Condo, even the items in my locker), showed up at my new home within half hour and was done within 1.5 hours moving everything and placing things exactly where I wanted it and assembly back all the furniture that had to be taken apart. Not even a scuff on my wall despite narrow stairways. Thank you so much for making my Moving Day that much more simple and stress free!

I was given incorrect information by Amanda in customer service. First, the hourly rate was quoted incorrectly, to the tune of $80 extra in total. Second, I was falsely told no deposit was payable to book. I was willing to pay a cash deposit which was declined by Amanda and I was told I had to pay 125% of the estimate via credit card in advance of booking. NOT BLOODY LIKELY. Sounds like a moving scam. Be cautious here, I have hired movers several times and never once paid more than a 25% deposit. I always pay movers in cash, that way I give each mover a cash tip as well. In my opinion the reviews posted on here aren’t a completely accurate representation of the services offered, so caveat emptor! EDIT- The owner or manager actually emailed me several times attempting to convince me to remove my negative review. Please be careful dealing with this company as they seem motivated to interfere with honest reviews of their services. Very sketchy. I used a different mover and ended up being very happy, no damages and perhaps only half the cost of this service. Again, caveat emptor!

Rent-a-son came highly recommended by a friend for our move from a condo to a house. We had a moderately complex move with two pickups in different cities and unloading in a third. Rent-a-son were thorough, efficient, and very helpful. Although the final invoice was 50% more than we anticipated, it was worth the cost. The move was complex and cost increases are possible with any mover, you just have to be alive to the issue and budget for it. With that in mind, we would recommend Rent-a-son anytime and will definitely consider hiring them again if/when we move again.

This was the first time using a moving company and I can say that my experience matches the reviews that caused me to pick them. From the very beginning, Ron had set me up with a thorough explanation of the process and was never pushy. The 2 gentlemen who showed up (please forgive me as I lost the paper with their names on it) were on time, polite, courteous and efficient. I was given an estimate of 5 hours and they had it done in 3.25 hours. Now I really didn't shop around that much but some people had mentioned in their reviews their rates were a little higher but they didn't care -- and neither did I. I am happy to pay a little extra knowing I am getting an honest, quality product or service. Based on this experience, I have no problem recommending Rent-A-Son for your moving needs.

When looking for a mover, I focused on the companies with the higher reviews. I was interested in the best moving experience, not necessarily the cheapest option available. Rent-a-Son was amazing. Before the move, Rob helped determine how many movers were needed (3 in our case, due to stairs at the originating location) and drafted an estimate after walking me through everything that would affect the cost of the move. The crew arrived early and started promptly. George and his crew were kind, efficient, and put us at ease. Our possessions were cared for and arrived 100% intact. The day was as low-stress as moving could be. The final cost was within the initial estimate, making the cost competitive with other movers. I cannot recommend Rent-a-Son more highly for your next move - we'll be asking for George specifically!

Overall these guys did a great job. I do however have a few complaints: 1) They showed up an hour and a half late for the pick up. This would have created a huge issue if we had not been lucky with the elevator reservation after us being cancelled or if we had an elevator booked for our new place. 2) They damaged the corner of my dresser which I now have to make claim for. 3) They were not equipped with proper mats to protect our floors. This was a miserably rainy day and a lot of dirt and leaves were tracked all through our house. The mats they did have were bulky rubber mats that would not stay in place on our stairs. They were bunching up and falling down the stairs. We had to make the judgement call to not use them so we could avoid someone slipping and seriously hurting themselves and probably damaging our property. With all that said the guys were polite and worked hard, but I think there should have been more organization and better due diligence.

The two sons that we rented, Junior & Jowel, were fantastic! They made my moving process from the suburbs into the city so easy, especially during the pandemic. All of my belongings were packed into the truck within 10 minutes - I am not exaggerating. They were even able to bring up an obnoxiously large couch through a very narrow stairway and up three flights of stairs (there was no elevator), and was somehow able to maneuver it through a small doorway into my apartment. Do not waste your time. I called these guys to schedule a move for a certain date. They told me the available dates, I picked one and they said they were going to talk to sales to set up a confirmation and send it to me. They never reached out to me with the confirmation. Only for them to call me and tell me that there's no availability for the date I picked because they work on a first-come, first-serve basis. I informed them that the reason why is because of their mistake as they didn't send me a confirmation and they said well, I didn't register the date because I didn't confirm which I re-affirmed was due to their negligence and not mine. The representative on the phone still refused to acknowledge that the issue lay with them but kept insisting I was the one who didn't confirm. I thanked them for their service, assured them that I will be writing a review and ended the call.

These guys are nothing but professional, organized, time-efficient and hard-working. They braved the very cold weather today and put up a great feat, lifted, tagged and noted everything down. We moved in from an apartment to a house on July 2020. We had never used movers before, but with covid keeping friends and family away, we decided hiring movers would be our best option. We did some research beforehand, and many movers had similar pricing and services. However, we chose Rent-a-Son for two reasons. First, their coordinator (Amanda) was in touch with us personally after we asked for a quote and answered our questions promptly, and always followed up. Second, we were moving a piano, and Rent-a-Son offered that service when our next choice did not. On move in day, the movers arrived 15 minutes before the scheduled time to find parking and to touch base with us, which I found very helpful. They had all the necessary equipment and made sure they were good to start right on time (at 9). The three guys we had were Tyler, Johvonne, and Amanpreet, and all of them worked efficiently, and made sure to take care of all the furniture. We had boxed everything before they came, but they wrapped and disassembled our furniture (dining table and bed). We were very happy with how everything went on moving day, and had no complaints. Amanda (our corrdinator) was great throughout the process, and the movers were awesome. We were quoted a time of 4.5 hours, and the day finished at 6 hours, but that was our fault as we had more stuff then we initially disclosed. We actually had stuff at our in laws close by (including the piano), and the movers were able to make sure everything got transported. There was also some very, very minor damage that occurred (I wouldn't even have brought it up with Rent-a-Son, but it was at our parents place so I felt I had to put it in on their behalf), and the customer service team was able to offer a quick and agreeable solution. TLDR: we were very pleased with the service provided, and would use them again and would recommend them to friends.

We got Rent a Son to pack our house and to move all our stuff. They came on the first day to pack everything, and on the second to move everything and it went very quickly. The weather in the weeks leading up to the move had been beautiful, but of course, it snowed on the day of the move. Rent a Son managed all this, and also managed moving our stuff from a big house to a small house - they reassembled furniture and made sure everything was right. They provided value for money, and they were also very nice and easy to work with.

I am the last person to take the time to write a review but not in this case. I called Rent-a-Son for a last minute move and I'm so glad I did. The office (Erika at Rent-a-Son) was extremely professional, very knowledgeable and honest. She patiently took the time to explain everything and didn't make me feel rushed (amazing customer service actually) and sent me an estimate. I was so happy after hanging up with Erika that it left me thinking what the moving crew would be like. My high commendations to both Direye ("D") and Satvir, these two are the "best-of-the-best!" as far as movers go. On my moving day, Direye telephoned me and informed me of their estimated time of arrival. When he and Satvir arrived, they politely introduced themselves and asked to see what we would be moving and then...they got to work. I was in awe at how extremely careful they were with all of our stuff. Then after what seemed like no time at all, they had everything loaded on the truck. We did one final inspection to make sure we didn't leave anything behind (I can't believe how neat these two guys are). Upon leaving to get to my destination, I asked them to follow me ("yes" I am that person. I need to be in control). Anyway we both arrived at my destination at the same time. Again I can't believe how safe and neat and careful they were with my stuff when unloading. I guess never leaving a review before has me rambling, but I will say this, "I will be making another interim move in 2020 and I am going to make sure that I have enough time to make sure that Direye and Satvir are the ones to help me with my move when I book Rent-a-Son again. I am a landlord in Vaughan, Ontario. One of my tenants hired Rent-a-Son to move out of the building. There were three trucks and no less than 10 movers on site. Every one of the movers was wearing their mask below their noses. I asked them on no less than 6 occasions to pull their masks up above their noses. They did so, but as soon as I turned my back, they pulled them down again. I attempted to take photos of them, but they pulled their masks back up as soon as I tried to take the shots, and they became angry and belligerent. One of them pointed to their mask and said, "See! It's on my face, and that's all that matters." I explained that if it's not covering his nose, then it's not doing any good. He ignored me. Another one yelled at me, saying that they can't breathe if the masks are over their noses. They continued moving the items out of the building with their masks below their noses, and completely ignored my repeated requests. I called the company and left 2 voicemails explaining the situation, but no one has returned my calls. This company is dangerous, and has absolutely no Covid protocols or concerns about infecting vulnerable people with Covid-19. Do not use this company!!! I would give them zero stars if I could, but the system doesn't allow for that. What they are doing is criminal!

Rent-a-Son was really understanding from Rob who coordinated the move, to Parseus team leader and Aslan, team manager. We had the elevator problem at our condo when both were broke down. I had a bad experience with Rent a son. As per my contract they had to move my one bed room apartment to Toronto they arrive 3 hours late. Once arrival they brought a van which was already filled with some one stuff leaving a little space. The crew told that they don't have space to fit all the stuff and suggested they will take some today and some next week and i didn't agreed that they increased 150 dollars and tried to adjust in that space. This the best choice I've been made for moving! Hector and Andrew are very friendly, professional, experienced, easy going and super efficient! They helped us move from suburb to downtown with great time management. We have a big fridge needs to be moved from our basement to the ground floor by passing a very narrow stairway. My 3-star review represents and average of my three experiences with Rent A Son. The first two moves we had with them were great (hence the repeat business, but our most recent one was not. As always, the crew we had was punctual and pleasant. But they forgot to take some things I pointed out several times; broke/damaged a couple items (thankfully nothing important); and left things mostly haphazardly in our new house. 2 out of 3 isn't bad with a moving company, but it's enough that we'll have to consider other options next time around.

This is our sixth move, and Rent-A-Son came through with the best move we ever had! Our move was complicated, because only some of our household was moving, and some was staying. Julian and David showed up a few minutes early and we explained what was going and what wasn't, and they must have taken notes because they got it all without asking again. They were extremely careful packing the furniture and managed to get it all in the truck without marking up our walls, even in the tight stairwell. Everything arrived in perfect condition, and the whole move took surprisingly little time. I would highly recommend Rent-A-Son, our experience with them was top-notch!

Everything went smooth overall. However a few things could have been improved. 1. Couple of food items were packed with the shoes. 2. We had to follow up to know the exact delivery date, It would have been better if we get real time updates on the status of our goods. 3.Many of the goods such as TV stand ,kitchen shelf and dining table, that were taken as one piece from our house were returned as dismantled. This was a surprise , although they did help in assembling the furniture. 4.The destination agent was not aware of the assembly services required. He was only told about the unpacking.

We hired rent-a-son for a move from Toronto to Ottawa. We are absolutely happy with the moving service, very professional staff, and everything went very smoothly without any surprise. The only disappointment was related to the cost. The final cost was noticeably higher than the estimated cost based on the quote and there were 3 mistakes in the final invoice that brought the cost about ~$300 higher. We called the office and they sent the revised invoice quickly. Highly recommended, just do not count on the estimated cost very much and make sure you review the final invoice carefully.

Extremely disappointed with the quality of service. No, would not recommend them or use them in the future – I will use Cargo Cabbie as I have done in the past. Rent a Son had to pack, store & then unpack. The packing on 14th June went fine – a professional crew packed, dissembled some furniture pieces [though they did toss in a lamp & dumb bells into a box]. The unpacking on 28th June was a very different story: Most disturbing was the complete lack of concern on Rent a Son’s part for the safety of their client (& crew). A crew was unvaccinated (not even the first shot) and refused to wear a mask. This was on the 28th June when the highly infectious Delta variant of Covid19 was becoming common & the Govt had made vaccines open to everyone. When I complained to Rent a Son, I was told ‘it shouldn’t have happened’. A crew member was extremely clumsy, it was his first day at work. He carried boxes marked ‘fragile’ by one handle & dropped them. I have broken/cracked crockery – on complaining I was informed it was my fault - ‘must not have packed properly’. He also dropped furniture while unpacking & chipped them. During packing, an inventory of goods had been created yet while unpacking no track was kept. When pieces of furniture were missing, the crew had no idea how many pieces were on the inventory or what had been unloaded. I had to go thru the list & figure out what had been left behind in storage – turned out it was damaged beyond repair. The unpacking crew had no idea where screws/parts of the disassembled furniture were stored. They spent more than 30-40 mins aimlessly wandering about – asking us to find the screws & parts! This from a professional service which should have a process in place (apparently they do, just that the crew was not aware of it!!) On the whole, I paid a lot of money for unprofessional crew members who dropped things, took an inordinate amount of time to complete their tasks & a moving company that does not have a process in place to identify crew members that are competent.

Flexible scheduling, fast response times, after a call to confirm, the movers arrived ahead of the anticipated schedule, and worked quickly and diligently to complete our move. There were some minor scuffs and rubs on walls, due to the size of the furniture pieces and the narrow stairwells, which is to be expected and was not major in nature. I've moved 5 times in the last 5 years but this time with Rent-a-Son was the most stress free move I've had, despite being a bad rainy weather. They came a bit earlier than scheduled and started on time. They were very careful when wrapping all of our furniture and unloading. They never complained about anything! Nothing was too heavy or too big for them and they made it all fit in the truck! All 3 men were great. It's not the cheapest moving company out there but from my experience, it was worth every penny. Ok, so I'm not a senior, but I did use Rent-a-Son for my move- I didn't see an option for 'residential move', so I selected Senior Move. The CSR who looked after me (Rob Nunner) did a great job explaining the quote, collecting my information, and ensuring that everything was set up (elevators at both locations, etc) for the move. They worked quickly (without rushing) and did a great job of wrapping up items like furniture and my TV. The move was completed ahead of schedule. Let's face it. Moving is not fun. If you have to do it, it helps to have congenial and competent people help you. I am long past the rental truck and a promise of pizza and beer to my friends if only they'll help me move, and I've moved twice in the last 14 months, so I'm happy to pay someone else to do the hard work! I used Rent-a-Son for my previous move last year and, I checked with a few other companies anyway but found Rent-a-Son's rates to be competitive and reasonable, and decided to go with them again this time because I was very pleased with their service last time. The crew arrived right on time and were very competent, helpful and good-natured throughout the move, which reduced my stress level quite a bit. Even though there was a bit of a hitch at the move-out end, with my superintendent insisting that we "clean the fridge" before we left, which held us up from getting to the new location for another half-hour, the crew was already at the new place and were already offloading our furniture and bringing it upstairs before we arrived with the key to let them in to our apartment. If I have to move again (and I shudder to think of the possibility), I would very likely go with Rent-a-Son again and would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

Best moving company experience ever. Period. Hired Rent-A-Son after reading dozens of reviews of Toronto moving companies. The various on-line Rent-A Son reviews seemed far and away the most positive so we decided to go with them. Best decision we made during the entire moving process. They have a smart estimating system on their website that's easy to navigate and...lo and behold, they actually acknowledge, in writing, that it's just an estimate - not a fixed quote - and the final costs will be determined based on the actual time your move takes. Other companies will hold you to the original high estimate - often with extra "hidden" charges regardless of what actually happens on move day. Really appreciated this "estimate only" system of theirs because, let's face it, it's difficult to quantify every object that needs to be moved before you're even finished packing it up. We got our quote - seemed like a competitive and fair hourly pricing system based on what we had seen elsewhere - (check their website) - so we hired Rent-A Son. The rest is simple - they arrived on time with a proper moving truck equipped with professional moving tools. Our three "sons" were Julian, Tyler and Abdullah. We did one walk through of the house and the garage and pointed out what was going and what wasn't. Never had to tell them again. They got to work and never stopped except for one short well-earned break. They worked like a practiced and well-oiled team. They were pleasant and friendly throughout and nothing was too much trouble. We were also really impressed with their moving methods and even noted the way they lifted loads in a professional and safe way (for them). There were a couple of items that have significant sentimental value and the next time we saw those items being moved, they were covered in blankets and shrink wrapped. Not one spec of damage. These guys worked fast and hard the entire time. Our move was done in just over 4 hours - less than the estimate. And here's the best part - since it took less time - we were actually charged LESS than the estimate. What's left to say? - without a doubt, the absolute best moving company experience in a lifetime of moves. Forget the rest, hire Rent- A- Son. We definitely will.

Do not hire rent a son! They lost part of my shipment, boxes arrived ripped open, multiple items were damaged and they have the worst communication I have ever encountered. The long-distance coordinator takes over a week to respond to emails and does not communicate timing or details of shipment arrival. I was given 12 hours notice before my belongings arrived despite being promised at least 24 hours. They promised I would be kept in the loop as to the arrival of my belongings and this was absolutely not the case. They advertise careful packing to protect larger items, this did not happen as damage occurred and their response to this damage was “this sometimes occurs”. This entire process was extremely frustrating and upsetting. This is a very poor quality and unprofessional company. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they do not respect your belongings or your time.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!! I suspect the majority of these positive reviews are robots. Rent a Son does not actually own national moving infrastructure. They pick up your stuff, store it in a warehouse, and pay for a partner firm to move it. Rent a Son stole my belongings OVER A MONTH AGO and have refused to provide a delivery date or tell me where my belongings are. BEWARE!!!!

After reading all the positive reviews, I really thought I made the right choice when selecting Rent-A-Son for my move. I couldn't have been more wrong. Let me highlight a few of the grossly unprofessional things that occurred during my move: 1) Managed to lose my $500 coffee maker (nowhere to be found...?) and failed to take any responsibility. Their rationale: a. "We never took inventory of what needed to be moved". Well, actually, Rob Nunner (the man who organized my move) had me take extensive pictures and send them to him via email, prior to the move, to ensure we had inventory of everything that needed to go. Front and centre is my coffee machine in one of the photos. b. ""You didn't do a walk-through". Let me be clear, Rob, nor the movers once mentioned this was their "policy." Only after they realized they lost my expensive coffee machine did it become policy. If it was asked of me, I would have stayed. Simple as that. 2) The movers broke my planter, making a mess all over the floor. I asked them to clean up the dirt, and they failed to do so, resulting in my new building manager getting upset. 3) They transported my comforter on the bed of their truck, instead of putting it into a box.... how nice! 4) They failed to remove my boxspring from my room, when they were explicitly asked to do so as part of the move. Upon arriving at my new spot, they claimed that they can't put together my bed-frame as it is not "company policy," even after Rob reassured me they could. 5) They damaged two corners moving into my new place, causing me $100 in additional damage charges. And now, after they already have my money, they have decided to completely ignore all my calls/emails - very professional! I normally never make reviews, but in this circumstance I felt I needed to give insight into my horrible experience. People - there are many moving companies out there, find a company who will treat your property with respect and care. Rob Nunner & Rent-A-Son - I am still in shock how I am being treated after the extent I went through to ensure the move went as smoothly as possible. You know how important this move was to me. Replacing my coffee machine is not worth the bad word of mouth.

They were good from start to finish. I moved a 3 bedroom home with a garage. The three men who moved us were pros. They worked hard all day and broke nothing and didn’t scratch the walls etc. When we finished 2:45 min early, due to good packing on our part, we received a credit that reduced our cost from the original estimate of 9 h (major savings). George, the move day leader was particularly awesome. Rob was responsive on the phone. They guys wrapped all the furniture and packed the truck effectively. The truck was really large too. It’s bigger than the one you can rent at Uhaul. If I moved it myself with friends, I wouldn’t have cared for the furniture as well as them. They had insurance for my items too. All said, I am willing to vouch for them. If you do your packing properly on your end, your move will go fast. This was the easiest move I’ve had and I credit it to these guys. They’re worth your money and I will use them again. I know this sounds like a gushy review but it’s real. I don’t give five stars unless it was truly good.

Given all the great reviews, I was surprised that my experience has been so negative. We scheduled a move between Ontario and NS through Rent-a-Son. Long distance moves have their challenges so we were not surprised that there was some minor damage ect. My issue arose when we tried to discuss missing and damage items. Rent-a son took no accountability and just kept telling us to talk to the shipper (whom we never dealt with since our only point of contact was Rent-a-Son, who leverage a shipper to send our stuff). The shipment was late, past the guaranteed delivery date, and missing my expensive couch, which was left in Toronto by accident. Accidents happen but I've been sitting on the floor for 3 weeks waiting on them to deliver my couch, given the mistake any reputable company would have done what they could to promptly make things right, but they take zero accountability and say they will add it to a future shipment. We'd like to submit a claim for the issues, but they state we can only submit one claim so we're stuck in limbo sitting on the floor waiting for likely the most critical piece of our move to finally be delivered. I expected better service post delivery, but it seems like now they have our money no one longer cares about us.

I don't get how these guys get so many 5 stars reviews. I believe not all of them are authentic, or maybe I was just unlucky. My experience was not terrible, but it definitely was not worth 5 starts. It was pretty easy to get an estimate (even though I just an estimate for 2 hours work but it actually took more than 4) and to set everything up for moving day. My coordinator was polite and she answered to all my questions. On moving day, the guys were supposed to get here between 1 and 2 pm, they arrived at 2:10, with no communication of their delay. When they arrived at my place, I clearly showed them the entrance door and then I told them they could park in the small driveway just steps away from there. The thing is, there is another door right beside that driveway and they parked so that they could access that door (which is actually for another building) and not the main door. They said they misunderstood and then decided to park on the street and put the in the liability form. The only reason why I showed them the driveway, was because it was where they parked when I got furniture delivered and it is where moving companies parked when other people were moving in and out of the building. So here we have 15 extra minutes that I got charged for. I was expecting that, as I was reading reviews for other companies and they were all saying that the movers were taking their sweet time doing everything. I decided to go with rent a son because I did not read that in their reviews, but I now think most of the reviews are fake and all the moving companies are pretty much the same. The good thing about rent a son is that they charge every 15 minutes after the first hour, while the other companies I've contacted all charged every 30 minutes. Anyways, I had some boxes and bags and literally three pieces of furniture from my bedroom and just the bed required disassembling. It took them more than 2 hours to move everything down to the truck. I also had to remind multiple times of items I wanted them to move and they almost forgot something behind. I had put the stuff that I wanted them to move on one side of the room and the ones that should stay on the other side, so I don't think I was just being difficult. In addition, at one point, both of the guys were downstairs for a while, so I checked out of the window and they were just seating on the truck chatting. I am not saying they should not take breaks, but I believe it is important to let the client know. When it was time to go to the new place, I told them I was gonna take the ttc, but my sister was there already. They said (and I am literally quoting) "Don't worry, we're going to stop to get something anyways". It took them an hour to get to a place that was 20 minutes away and, in the end, on the form, they wrote they did not take any break. I also have some Ikea drawers, which I know are not the best quality and I don't really mind that they got a bit scratched because of how they transported it and because they did not put blankets around everything, even though I asked them to. What annoyed me was that a couple of screws got a bit loose and instead of telling me or fixing it (it took me a total of 2 seconds to fix it) they just put the drawers back even if they were not running properly, which made it harder to get them out to fix them. In addition, they reassembled some parts of the bed on my (very expensive) mattress after they took off the protective bags and, as a result, I now have a stain on the mattress.

The team was punctual and were very quick. Since it was my first time using Rent-a-Son so honestly, i was afraid that the movers will work in a way that the estimated hours were all utilized. I was given an estimate of 4 hours for the job however the team was able to finish it in under 3 hours. While the overall cost for the move was bit higher than other movers, Rent-a-son gave me detailed quote, timeliness and professional service which i appreciate. Terrible service! There were multiple issues that occurred on our move-out day from a 2 bedroom condo into our townhouse: - I was told I would have 3 movers and only 2 showed up. The 2 movers acted as if they couldn't find the other guy or couldn't get a hold of him. They eventually said he just didn't show up. - Loading the truck ended up taking an hour longer than I was told it would - forcing us to go over our elevator time we had booked. The condo almost charged us for going over our time limit as other tenants had the elevator booked for their own moves. - The movers caused damage to the floors in our condo we were moving out of - which cost us our damage deposit on the condo. - The truck that they brought was too small to fit all of our furniture - causing more time and increasing the cost of our final bill. - The movers lost the legs to our couch. Our move was over 3 months ago and the company still has not replaced these as they said they would. Every time I e-mail them to follow up it takes them over a week to respond to me. We have not been able to use our couch appropriately for over 3 months now! The company ended up giving us a small discount on our final bill due to the damage they caused and only charged us for 2 movers instead of 3. This kind of service is very unprofessional. We were very unhappy with Rent a Son Company and will not use them again in any future move.

I was moving from Toronto to Montreal on very short notice. I got estimates from a variety of the most respected moving companies in Toronto and rent-a-son seemed to be the most professional with how they broke down my estimate and informed me of the process for long distance moves. I had to move a 1 bedroom apartment from Toronto to Montreal on 1 days notice and Amanda was able to organize the whole thing for me. I had 3 movers show up to load up my stuff - they were all professional and took care in wrapping my furniture and glass items. They arrived on time and made the process very painless. In Montreal the following day they arrived about 5 minutes late due to their accommodations being fairly far away from my unit (and the montreal airport traffic can be a nightmare) but I was informed of this ahead of time. The load in was even more painless at the destination (also due in part to my buildings moving specialist overseeing the building logistics). In the end, nothing was damaged, everything arrived safe and on time and my movers Kyle and Julian were not only professional but also extremely friendly and personable. Special thanks to Amanda for talking me through this process... I find moving extremely stressful and this was a painless move on very short notice.

One mover spent the entire move out of my apartment outside smoking, leaving the other to do all the work so that it ended up taking 3 hours to move out when it took another (much more professional moving company) 1 hour to move in. They were then 3 hours late to the move site. The company charged me for boxes I returned and which they will be using for another individual's move and when I refuted the charge on the invoice, they charged my credit card that same day and never responded to my email. I'm absolutely appalled that they have the audacity to refer to themselves as Toronto's best movers because what I saw palled in comparison to literally ANY other moving company. My wife and I just moved from Ajax Ont. to Renfrew Ont. and we chose Rent-a-Son for the move. First, we met our move coordinator Amanda Strathdee when she came to our apartment to provide an estimate for the move. She is a very pleasant and friendly young lady and it was a pleasure meeting her. On moving day three movers, Mark, Jamie and Perseus showed up and started boxing and loading the truck right away. All three guys were polite, good natured and acted very professionally as they performed their tasks. Last week spent time back and forth via email regarding times to move on the 28th which at the time were still available, since no one answered their phones a week ago and then the emails stopped responding. No confirmation or anything. Finally I called to follow up as to why no one has responded and the lady rudely interrupts me "no nothing available".. thanks for wasting my time!

Not a reflection of the movers themselves as the three guys that showed up to move were very pleasent. After a great experience, managment was a nightmare to deal with. We were charged for an extra hour ever after a glass shelf was broken, despite that being the reason for the extra hour of work. We were told it was our problem by managment even though the movers themselves were very apologetic and assued us that it would be replaced. Not only was managment rude on the phone during follow up, but blamed us for the break (though the movers were hired to pack and move everything). I understand things break and stuff happens, but after such a nice experience with the movers, managment made the whole experience a horrible one. We even generiously tipped each of the movers, then were smacked with extra fees and no care or concern for a mistake that was 100% the fault of the company. We were told that we didnt wrap the glass properly, even though it was taken care of by the lead mover, and basically made to feel in the wrong. Bravo to the charismatic movers, but good luck dealing with their managment. Atrocious

I recently used them for two moves in our family. Rob was easy to deal with and got us estimates quickly. For the first move, I was really impressed with Julian and Egerton who worked very efficiently to quickly get my Mom moved within the area. For my move which was much larger amount of items, I had George with his trusted assistants Alex and Jonathan. I really enjoyed interacting with them and we shared some laughs over lunch. All five of the guys were extremely careful with wrapping items, ensuring not to damage anything and loaded and unloaded with great speed. A friend of mine told me about this company but warned me that they were not the cheapest option out there. I got three quotes and decided to go with them as they were the middle option. I am delighted that I chose them and will use them for any future moves. Excellent job guys!

Being my first move experience in Canada, I got to say I was really worried, but Erika Jackman did a great job by coordinating the move. She asked the right questions and followed up with me to get the most updated list of things I needed to move and to make sure we were all set for the move day. On the day of the move Levie and Dave did an outstanding job!!. They were really professionals, showing up 20 mins before the scheduled time to introduce themselves, make sure the elevator was available, check were they needed to park the truck and accommodate their tools and start as planned.They were both really diligent and super careful with the things I labelled "Fragile". I was initially quoted for a 5.25 hour service which later was incremented to a 7 hour service because I added some bookshelves to the move list. But Levie and Dave did all the move in 4.5 hrs (9am to 1:30pm)!!! This was amazing considering that we had to wait around 30mins at the new building I was moving in because the elevator got double booked by the administrator and that weekend (Feb 29th) was FREEZING in Toronto!!!. THANK YOU LEVIE AND DAVE!! Your did an outstanding job and I couldn't be happier with the service you both provided !!! Without a doubt I would use Rent-a-son again!! P.S. The last time I moved, I was in my early 20's - it was 15 years ago. You hear horror stories about moving companies but I can assure you - Rent-a-Son is a class act. I had to move during the pandemic during a time after 6pm. I called a few moving companies to get a few quotes, but as soon as I spoke to Rob Nunner at Rent-a-Son, I felt assured and he accomdated every request. He took inventory of what needed to be moved and provided a quote and explained to me there would be additional charges depending on the amount of time it takes. The delivery representatives showed up on time, moved all of my items - asked where I wanted all of the boxes placed and removed the garbage. The movers did it all within the time that I was originally quoted. Very happy with this company - this is my first time writing a review for any type of service, but I feel confident if you choose to hire Rent-a-Son it will be one less headache and you won't regret it.

I did lot of research and found many companies but the reviews were mixed and only couple of companies I shortlisted based on the reviews and received quotes from them. So I finally decided to go with rent a son based on the reviews and the quote which is obviously more than the companies I read the bad reviews about but little less than the competitor. And I must mention that I am so happy with my decision. My stuff reached on time in good condition. Amanda was the co ordinator and she is very professional yet friendly and very responsive. The team who came to pick goods and the team who came to drop off they both were very nice and calm. Not in hurry like others and did their job so well and professionally. It was the hottest day of the summer....30 plus degrees in July and 3 guys showed up to move a 2200 square foot house to a much smaller house 5 blocks south (with narrow staircases) . The guy who came to give us the quote was accurate, he said 3 guys from 8 am until 3 pm. The movers had great senses of humor despite the heat. No complaints. Good job!

One week and a half later guess what? No one still call me. Looks like one bedroom apartment move is to small margin for them and they expect to go with bigger customers on weekend.

Terrible experience. I was moving a 4 minute drive away and Rent-a-Son managed to break the glass on a huge picture and lose about 6 boxes of my clothing that were carefully labelled. The customer service was even worse. I provided a detailed inventory of what I knew was missing (I am still realizing additional things that are missing) and the minimal total came out to over $3500. They offered me $400 including the glass from the picture. Not only that, Sam and Patrick were terrible with communicating, it took several emails and multiple follow up emails to get a response and I moved in December. It took them 7 months to give me the measly $400. Would not recommend to say the least.
