After the 2nd visit for a quote, they give me a quote of $3100+Tax to move. When the Driver load my furniture he mentioned its even lighter than the quote, so should be cheaper. I was not be able to track shipment during the month, and the shipment got delayed after 1 month shipping. They end up giving me the invoice 3 days before my scheduled delivering. My final invoice is $4700. Told me its heavier that the quote, and the location I moved in needed to switch to smaller truck so it cost me $700 more. However the Driver is very friendly when I spoke to him to schedule the delivery date. Door to Door across country is also a plus. Just don't expect their quote to be correct, then probably you wouldn't be as disappointed like me.

This was the second move I did with this company. The first one was a move-in from an international move (I had no choice in using them), but on my second move within Atlantic Canada, I had Mackie pack, move and store my home items (4 bedroom home). I paid for climate controlled storage and extra handling to move these items into that storage, and then back out of storage, delivering all to my home. After four months, my items were delivered. It was obvious my items were never removed from the original truck and that my home items had remained on the trailer in an outdoor environment the entire (summer) time. There had been a leak in the truck where rain water must have gotten in, and there was black mold growing on rugs, boxes and other personal items (aside from multiple broken boxes) – all of which I documented with photos before removing from the truck. The crew was very apologetic, but after the move-in, I confronted their management (in writing) about why did I pay for climate controlled storage (and extra handling costs) when my items were not cared for in that way. All I asked for was, what was fair: I requested they remove the charge for climate controlled storage, as well as the extra handling charge. I never got a formal answer or admittance to the mishandling. The local team never contacted me, but their corporate office settled by sending me a minor check for the “mischarge” of $1000. (-which was still under the value of what I paid for.) Very disappointed and sad that they did not do what was right. Very unethical to charge a customer for climate controlled storage and not do that, especially of personal art, antiques and entire home goods. If you use this company, do not trust what they say, and go and see your items in the storage for which you are paying. I learned a very valuable lesson.

Terrible experience, Serge Nadeau is the manager who lied to me about delivery time about my container which inturn cost me more money and wouldn't have the decency to reply. I paid for 3 crates to be made. He put my stuff all in one and hasn't refunded the remainder. Major low life. AVOID this company at all costs!

They were scheduled to deliver our furniture from Hudson’s bay and they did not show up on the scheduled time. It’s been 2 days since then and nobody is picking up the phone. The bay can’t reach them either so we have no idea where our furniture is or when it’s arriving. I really do not recommend this company and I wish the Bay would change companies.

Terrible place to work. They threatened to not pay me for working and continue to throw their employees under the bus for any tiny screw up. Meanwhile, the days the office staff take off, things run smooth as butter. No complaints about the movers and drivers. All are fairly qualified and competent.

During an evening, we got an automated message from them telling us when they would be delivering our appliances during work hours the next day. We left multiple phone messages that night and the next morning to try to reschedule. We had to call repeatedly and someone picked up sounding annoyed. They told us there was nothing they could do unless we wanted to wait almost 2 weeks for their next availability. Luckily our landlord was around to let them into our unit where we couldn't get time off work. Out of 4 appliances on the order, 1 was missing and we're told by the seller that it was marked delivered.

I am absolutely disgusted with how our move went. If you are thinking of going with Mackie I would suggest getting other quotes and comparing. I had two other quotes completed that estimated our weight almost exactly. Mackie underestimated us by approximately 1800 lbs and stated on the quote that the price was guaranteed not to exceed the quoted amount, so obviously we went with them. Anyways much to our surprise they got all of our stuff on the truck and then called me saying I had to pay more because it was so much over the quoted amount. They stated that we added things since the quote and listed things that were present during the quote. They then proceeded to threatening to take our stuff off the truck and put in storage at our expense until we agreed to pay. After many frustrating words and no sympathy with customer service we had to end up eating the bill for their mistake. We have many moves in our future and Mackie moving systems will not be a part of them. They made our moving experience absolutely terrible. **All the employees in the office were to blame and were terrible to deal with. The guys that came to the house to pack the truck were great.

Brisk, professional, and competent. The guys came today to pack up our stuff and move it out. Everything went smoothly. Nice explanation of the paperwork to help us on the other side when take delivery of our goods. Only one thing I would improve upon: we noticed scratches on our hardwood floor after they had gone. I think there must have been some grit on the bottom of heavy boxes that dragged on the floor. Recommend putting down some protection over the area of the floor you'll be working on to save this from happening in the future.

Terrible, I would give zero stars if that was a possibility. First problem is they didn't show up on the day I was told they'd be there to deliver my fridge. They blamed it on Home Depot. On the delivery day they rolled the fridge through my yard on a dolly and tore up the grass as the ground was very wet. Then they busted up the door frame trying to get the fridge into the house. I was assured that someone would contact me to fix the door but after several follow-up phone calls I'm being ignored. Stay as far away as possible. I plan on posting this negative review everywhere online so that I can warn others.

This company rips you off. They sent too small truck, inexperienced staff which ended up taking 3 times the time to move but charged the normal rate. They damaged my new house and didn’t respond to my claim. Some employees just stood around and didn’t work. They didn’t assemble all my furniture. Cords and plugs and smaller pieces are missing. They forgot to move my lawnmower and garden bench which the new owners of my old house wouldn’t give back and Mackie’s took no responsibility for it. Avoid this company st all cost! They will rip you off.

The easiest part of my move and smartest. They quoted my move and held the price. They were able to pick up from my storage locker. They shipped my furniture from Ontario to Nova Scotia. They were on time and very punctual. We received our contents with no damage. Easily the best decision I did was to choose this company to help with our big move.

I used Mackie’s for a two-stage move and storage in between the two stages in August and October 2020. It was a horror-show. I have moved many times with smaller, local moving companies, and never had concerns. However, I needed a company that also provided storage, and sadly, chose Mackie’s. I would not recommend this company, and am telling everyone I know who is planning a move to avoid them. My main concerns: 1. Missing boxes: At least 5 and more likely 10-12 of my boxes never made it to me. These boxes included irreplaceable family heirlooms. This happened because the movers at the front end failed to number/tag a number of my boxes. 2. Disorganization: They were completely disorganized. It was chaotic on move-out day, with two of the movers taking boxes out to the truck at the same time as the third person was tagging boxes. I know that not all boxes were tagged because a. I received some of my boxes that had no tags and b. because all the tagged boxes arrived but I was missing a tonne of stuff (5-6 boxes is likely an underestimate of what I was missing but is all I claimed because I didn’t discover the extent of what was missing before the claim period ended). 3. Unprofessionalism: I suspect that at least two of the boxes were purposely not tagged. They contained bottles of wine, and the tagger made several comments about the quality of the wine and how much he likes wine. Needless to say, I did not receive the boxes of wine. 4. Unsafe for single women: The same employee asked me personal questions about my relationship status and made a pass at me, and a different employee who moved me into my isolated rural home asked if he could come by on a Friday night to pick up empty boxes. 5. Horrible customer service: a. Despite the fact that their personnel can easily make mistakes and “forget” to tag boxes (or purposely not tag them if they want the items), the company staunchly refuses to reimburse me for the missing boxes because they weren’t accounted for on the “bingo sheet”. No amount of logic and explaining that I received some of my boxes that weren’t on the bingo sheet has helped. b. I received a box of art that wasn’t mine. Despite advising them of this numerous times, they made no attempt to retrieve the box or try and find its rightful owner. 6. Breakage/handling of boxes: I packed my own boxes extremely well, and labeled all the fragile ones, including which side had to be up. The men moving the boxes ignored what I had written, actually threw fragile boxes around and transported boxes upside down. As a result, I had numerous boxes of broken pottery and china, a solid hardwood chair was cracked through, I had two broken lamps, and my TV was completely destroyed with big cracks across the screen. Thank goodness I purchased insurance! However, my insurance didn’t cover any of the broken pottery and china since I packed it myself. I will be lodging a complaint with the BBB.

Just in case anyone out there is considering a move, DON"T use Mackie Moving Systems. Almost a year ago, we moved from Halifax to Port Royal. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, which can be found on the BBB site. The company was contacted by the BBB, but received no answer. "I have photographed the damaged articles and filled out the forms for a claim with the company. This was done last June. Sorry to say, that the crew that packed and moved our belongings did not label nor record any inventory, but simply loaded the boxes as quickly as possible. Richard and I are upset with the casual treatment of our belongings. Boxes, clearly labeled by us, were delivered to the wrong space. Items were stored, or delivered upside down. Fragile warnings were clearly not heeded. Several boxes were wet, one containing books. Furniture was scratched, and my family organ that I was using as a desk has a split in the wood that travels down one side. Due to the time restriction for reporting, we submitted our claim report last June. Other things were also damaged and we found a live cockroach in our belongings after delivery. This was not what I had expected. We are very disappointed. Some of the items that were damaged I consider priceless, as they were family heirlooms. Others are artwork, which, once damaged, drop drastically in value. If I had known, I would have gone with another company. Hoyts has moved us in the past and everything came through without damage, well-documented complete with stickers on the packed goods and furniture and a written inventory a copy of which we were given. The individual in charge of the move was disrespectful when I noted the broken ceramic planter. ( BEFORE IT WAS EVEN LOADED!) I should have realized at that point what the move would be like, but it would have been hard to change moving companies as our house was closing in two days. They offered us a $200 refund, which we did not cash, as it was not satisfactory compensation."

i wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, we bought a new washer machine from best buy, long story short they show up to your house and do nothing that best buy claims they will do, drivers made 20 excuses of why they don't want to do what they are supposed to do. the driver barely had his truck in park before he started rhyming off things he's not required to do for his job. screwed the order up, blames best buy. i was told by them they will be back the next day to fix all problems, take yet another afternoon off work, they give you a window of arrival. i am currently waiting 3 hours past their promise time and still have no clue if they will even show up. this is a gongshow operation save yourself the headache and use another company. you can tell by the rest of the reviews your dealing with a terrible company. A company this terrible in performance puts a black mark on best buy as well.
