In August 2020, Bird's Moving handled our local in-town move. We were impressed from the beginning with John's professional assessment of house contents and estimate. Maggie in the office contacted us to confirm the move details and provide information on what was expected from them and us under the current Covid-19 conditions. On the day of the move, the crew was not only on time, they were early! They carefully wrapped mirrors and TVs, and also plastic wrapped larger furniture pieces to protect them. They worked quickly and efficiently but they were also friendly and enjoyed joking around with each other and us. We would definitely recommend this company and would certainly use them again.

Now that I'm settled in another province I want to highly recommend Bird's Moving & Storage (United Van Lines) for their professionalism. My move, although not huge, was extremely important to me. John and his staff guided me through the estimate phase. The movers were punctual and treated my furniture with care. I was glad to learn that one of them would be driving my possessions across the country. Upon arrival he and his crew made the unloading in a timely manner. In addition they were personable to my inquiring grandchildren without losing the momentum of the move.

If I could give zero stars I would. This place and the Sales Manager completely lied to my face. STAY AWAY FROM THIS MOVING COMPANY. When a place tells you they have the license to do a job and then is telling you its being farmed out to another company.....RUN. The "Sales Manager" Lynda as it states on her card, who tells me she has been with the company for 20 years, but didn't know if the company has a license to move internationally. Are you kidding me? Why would they prove out a job without even knowing if they had the ability to do the job, or better yet they KNEW they were gonna sub it out and take a piece of the action. This place is a joke.

We absolutely loved this moving company. They were so professional and helpful - showed up on time and had great communication throughout the whole process. We couldn't believe how stress-free the whole thing was. To top it off, they somehow found my husband's wedding ring in their truck after finishing the move and called us to return it! This is by far the worst experience with a company I have ever had , I would steer clear of Birds moving and storage ! I am 9 months pregnant and looking for a reputable company to move me as I needed a smooth move , well it was nothing but smooth it was horrible and very stressful ! A man named John MCphail which is the son to the owner came to my house and seemed like he knew what he was talking about , assured me his company was the best around and bashed every other moving company , I should have known then that any professional does not bash others . Three men showed up at my home and proceeded to move my things , I thought it was going good until they tried to remove a couch from the basement , they were unable to move it and wasted about 1.5 hrs trying to push it through from the basement with no regard to the damages they were doing to the walls , I called John who said they were sending a "senior" mover to see if he can help , instead of continuing to move my things the movers sat around and smoked cigarettes and tried to keep pushing my couch up the stairs . Finally someone showed up to help and he basically tried for 10 mins then left , my couch had to be left behind . Many of my things were poorly taken care of and scratched , and even though I labeled every box they just jammed everything where they saw fit ! I was done and tired and wanted this ordeal to be over with , I receive my bill and the mover was told to write on it that I requested they try and move the couch out of the basement!? Well I thought that's why I hired a moving company , it is their responsibility to make sure they aren't damaging anything and should have stopped and said they could not continue because it would cause damage ! Well they did not do that .. Aside from all this the customer service that I have been getting is absolutely horrible and I cannot believe a company like this who relies on word of mouth from people would treat someone like they have . I have been in contact with John MCphail and he has done nothing but been rude , I sold my home and the poor people have to move in with damages , I have been charged the full amount on my credit card when I was told an hour would be taken off and that's it , now the story has changed and its either they fix the damages or I get a hour taken off . Thanks for the worst experience of my life ????????

We had a very positive moving experience with Bird's. We found them to be professional, courteous and helpful. Our actual move time was very close to the time quoted. The movers were careful with our belongings and placed runners throughout the house to keep the floors clean. We very much appreciated that we were able to pick up used packing boxes that were available, and then return them when done. This was both a big savings and environmentally friendly. We would highly recommend Birds.

I have changed my rating, as I had asked to have 2 pieces delivered to Toronto to my daughter well ahead of the move! One piece in particular was a precious family heirloom (antique). When delivered on time to toronto, a piece dropped to the floor! How was the situation resolved????? I was told that I had to arrange to have it fixed, they were sorry, still charged for the delivery, and if the repair cost more than the 250 deductable, invoice them! WOW An antique that lasted all these years, and now due to poor packing and delivery, it is no longer in its original form, THANKS!!!!!! THANKS A BUNCH!

We used this company for a household move. Arrival time at the departure point was right on time and loading was efficient and timely. Same the next morning at the delivery address. The team was courteous and professional and we would use them again. Our tip for moving - have everything ready packed in boxes so there is no waiting. The guys wrap the furniture to keep it clean and this got loaded quickly too with no damage after delivery. Good work and actual cost was slightly less than estimate.

What a pain free experience. From the initial quote, to the follow up assuring we had everything in place, i.e. date and time confirmed, location of final move, and we were expected at the other end. Bird's arrived as scheduled, packed our belongings with care and delivered them in the absolute same condition and all within the time frame allotted. All our furniture items were disassembled and reassembled with care. You may be considering of other 'movers'; however, Bird's Moving and Storage takes "For the Bird's" out of moving. The movers showed up on time and they were polite. However, they forgot tools and I didn't have any tools so I rushed across town to get mine. The movers were appreciative. When the moved our furniture to our new house they dropped my grandpa's antique chair. They broke off an arm and it isn't possible to fix. When we called to discuss the chair with the company on Monday they were dismissive with us. They didn't apologize or anything. Just the way business is at Bird's I guess. If you're reading this and thinking we declined moving insurance, well it cost $80 and and had a $500 deductible so it wouldn't have been worth it. If I did it again I would use another moving service. They were the lowest price but now I need to buy a new chair and throw out my deceased grandpa's chair. And they had me rush across town to get some tools for them. Bird's get one star because they didn't acknowledge financially me having to run across town to get my tools or any reparation for my grandpa's chair. One of the movers said Bird's has an employee on staff that can repair chairs but the owner wouldn't let me use him.

Right from the person who answers the phone - to the estimate by Lynda, to the packers Cam, Chris, and Clayton, and the movers, Harry, Chris and (oh stink, I can't remember his name!!) . The entire experience has been fantastic. Professional, yet personable. Very knowledgeable about what they were doing. Great leadership by Cameron & Harry. I grew up in a furniture mover's home, so I knew what they were doing, and they did it very well! I would definitely recommend this company, and I will definitely use them again, if I stay in the area.

Day 1, the crew picking up our belonging was excellent. They worked quickly, carefully and they were kind and considerate. They were done in 4.25 hours; but, they charged me for 6.50 hours. They're truck broke down for 2.00 hours and blocked several driveways. Day 2, not as good. Many items that were clearly marked were placed in the wrong location. Many items were scratched, chipped or broken. The worst part was the snot wiped on our couches by the worker that unwrapped them. In addition there was vomit on one of our headboards! Aside from this, I called and talked to one of the managers (John); he had a very poor attitude. I complained and asked them to compensate us for the damages, he refused. I paid for the insurance coverage through them and he would not honour this. I would have accepted an apology and the return on my deposit; however, John's attitude and lack of compassion made the experience more upsetting. If this review was solely based on the manger -1 star; however, crew 1 was excellent so 2 stars. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM.

Harry and his crew were AMAZING!!! We had a crew of 4 guys and they worked extremely fast and efficient! They were all thoughtful of our dog who was stressing a bit at first. Each one of them took the time to let him get to know them. These guys get to business the moment they walk into your home - I was amazed at how quickly they moved through the house. Thank you for your awesome work and the extreme care you took to take care of our home we were leaving and the home we were arriving to as well as our contents - they wrap EVERYTHING! Harry is brilliant in how he orchestrated our home’s contents of 21 years into the truck. This moving crew went above and beyond to help us out in every way - do not consider booking with anyone else. To top it off, the price was great as well. Thank you for making our move a success!

The truck was on time and the 2 gentleman that came where pleasant and easy to work with however we where quoted on 3 workers only 2 showed up. Had the 3 of us not pinched in and helped loading and unloading the truck we would have easily have gone over the quoted amount based on hrs it would of taken just the 2 guys even at the reduced hourly rate. With contractors arranged to do other work it was imperative that we stayed in our 7 hr window to coordinate everything. Should not have costed what it did would not recommend

Very disappointed with this company! The only word I can use is "careless". Three broken items (two I have already fixed) and multiple damaged boxes or other packaging. Only added 3 pics but many more boxes were damaged. The bedding bag actually had a handle so there was no need for it to have gotten broken. The employee told me he tried to grab it under his arm and "must have squeezed too hard". The company LATER told me I wasn't supposed to use those type of bedding bags (I used three - they're the ones your new comforter set comes in), but I had called specifically while packing to ask if they were okay to use, and was told by a company employee that they were. Next time I'll rent a truck and hire two guys off the street!

We had a really bad experience moving from Toronto to Niagara-on-the-Lake with AMJ Campbell ( who went over their quote and damaged our furniture) so I was really really nervous moving our furniture out of our house into storage while we renovated. if you want surprises with your final bill this company is for you! If you expect them to google earth your new location to ensure the size of truck THEY send to you will fit, this is not the company. I got quoted on a service and they did not follow up, using the clause to get me to pay more - note we are the only house in the neighbourhood that a moving company would not drive right up to. Very clever business tactics tho, must give them credit for that.
