We had an excellent experience, from the booking online to telephone confirmations to the packing to the move itself. At every stage, Highland went above and beyond. Perfect punctuality, fast but thorough service, and all of the employees found ways of dealing with fragile (wine bottles!) or difficultly-configured items that moved from an old house with lots of tiny rooms to a four-level townhouse with so, so many stairs to climb. Case in point: we have a wood-burning pizza oven that had been delivered off the truck and onto our deck. To get in onto our new deck at the new place, it- it weighs at least 300 pounds- had to be disassembled, with no guide for doing so. The movers figured out how to break it down to three elements and get the job done. All of this was at what I would say was a very, very fair price!

Addendum Aug 21: I was contacted to by the general manager directly about the incident, where she apologized about the incident. I was really put at ease by the very professional way the manner was dealt with, and just finished getting a quote from the estimator that missed our appointment. Who by the way was also extremely professional and easy to work with. Kudos to Highland for proving you're a class act, and look forward to seeing your quote, and hopefully have it be the better offer. Really kinda disappointed. For the record, we never used their services. For our move to Edmonton, we called them based on previous good experiences with my employer and overall great reviews. We called for an in person quote and several days later made an appointment. My wife and I were waiting our bedroom (9 am) for the estimator to arrive and nothing. So we called and left a voice mail. At 4 pm that afternoon I got a call from the estimator. They claimed that they waited for 20 minutes, and rang the doorbell twice. Since my toddler rings the doorbell all the time when my wife and I are in the bedroom, it kinda surpirses me that we didn't hear it. Especially when we tested it when we came home. Also when asked why they didn't call while in the driveway, since the estimator was perfectly able to ring the doorbell and call at 4 pm for our 9 am appointment, the response was that it would wake the kids. Because you know, doorbells don't wake up toddlers ???? I will give some credit to the estimator that the colour of our house was correctly identified, so I'm mostly certain they showed up to the actual house. To be honest, I called you Highland Moving, because I trusted your rep, that you could be someone who I could trust my life, my possessions with. But with the first point of contact with the estimator, just leaves a bad impression. I want to trust you, but I'll be honest, at this point I'm not impressed. There are a lot of good and bad movers out there, so at this point I'll take my business elsewhere. Just for the record I am open to being contacted about my experience. I doubt I would go with you (I'm not just trying to get a better rate, if I can't trust a sales call, how can I trust you with my life), but if you need some honest feedback I'm open to it

To describe our move from Whitecourt to Camrose Ab, the staff were polite and worked extremely hard. The entire move from start to finish while not seamless, it was pretty darn good. I was amazed at how Andy managed to get our 5 bedroom home into the truck. Every one of the staff worked tirelessly without one complaint!!! I was exhausted just watching them but they barely stopped for breaks. They laughed and were playful and respectful to my husband and I and they also had to endure the whining of my little Yorkipoo who was a big crybaby throughout the move. Thank you to a great team of Andy, Matt, Shaylee and CJ. Would I use Highland Movers again? OMG YES!! Highly recommended.

Outstanding. I undertook a decent amount of Google research to find the most professional and reliable moving service and landed on Highland. The choice was correct. The initial moving consultant, Arliss, gave me comfort in organizing the pack and move and ensured that everything was in line. The packing team came in and took great care in packing our entire home. Wisdom and his crew were great to have around all day for the actual move. They were efficient and had great personalities to go along with it. After the move, Highland came and picked up all the left over boxes. Hello There, First of all I would like to thank your company and specially Nicole from Calgary office. She provided all the assistance that I was looking for before, during and even after the shipment was done. She was great asset to the company and I wish her best in her career and would like to convey my special thanks. Then came all the nice people in between. Again from Robert (Calgary) to Santos (Toronto) everyone was so helpful. The quote was being changed few times as my stuff weight was changing every other week. The last estimate was almost correct and I did not have any problem paying. All the stuff arrived and unloaded at both locations without any problems. Nothing broken or damaged whatever boxed we have opened so far and we have almost opened 1/2 of the total boxes. I am sure everything will be fine when we open rest of the boxes. I am not sure what to say more about my excellent experience as it will always be less than what we experienced when talking to real people. We moved over the last 2 days with highland and are repeat customers although the last move was 13 years ago. I can’t say enough good things about this company and our crew. We had been estimated at over 18,000 lbs and 2 days. We went for an hourly rate and they completed in less time than estimated. They specialized in heavy things of which we had a lot! They maybe took 20 minutes break the whole day, including their lunch. Highly recommend and hope their management see this, thank you

At every step of the process, Mike, Becca Steve and the Highland team made our move easy. I had never hired professional movers before and didn't know what to expect. Now I'll never go back to renting a truck and doing it myself, because it was just SO much easier with Highland, and totally worth the investment. Not a good experience at all. Would not recommend to anyone, really unfortunate service. Packing took far too long for professional packers, and the packers themselves were bickering all day while working. A lot of talking and not a lot of working. They have poor space management as they put things like 1 bedspread in a tall warbrobe box (the most expensive box they charge for). Packers took more than the average working day breaks and left a lot of things without boxes. Unprofessional, as they kept leaving the door open for 5+ minutes in sub zero temperatures and toilet seats up (minor but unprofessional and impolite) also left garbage from boxes, tape and wrapping paper in house after they were finished.

We were very pleased with the care and professionalism of our driver Ray. He was personable and thorough.He was also accessible by cell phone during the actual drive to our new home. The men working with him were also friendly and trustworthy. They were careful with our possessions and mindful of taking care of both the home we left and the one into which we moved. We could not have been more pleased. However the co-ordination of the move in Calgary was somewhat lacking. We had been told our driver could pick up a sofa at the store where it was purchased and that he would be made aware of this. When Ray arrived at our home he knew nothing about this pick up and told us he could not pick it up as his truck would not fit in the store's lot. There were some stressful moments when we were concerned the store could not deliver the sofa to our home before the moving truck was to leave. Ray had also not been advised by the Calgary office that his large truck would not fit down the narrow driveway at our destination. Staff in the Calgary office had informed us that our possessions would need to be transferred to smaller truck to get them to our doorstep. Though the Calgary office had told us they would coordinate this it was Ray himself who sorted out the problem. It is apparent that there was poor communication between our driver and the Calgary Highland Moving person who was to supposed to coordinate these things. In summary, we had a successful move. We suggest the office staff actually take coordination of unique customer needs seriously and follow through on what they promise to do.

They had exceptional service and attention to detail. We were moving into a brand new home and they took careful care to lay cardboard under their ramp to avoid any damage to our new concrete. In the house, they actually lined the railing with moving blankets to make sure that nothing scratched the new railing. They were so efficient with both loading and unloading. Separately, the scheduling office was incredibly understanding. One week before our initial scheduled move date, I broke my leg and we had to postpone the move. They were so accommodating and just put me at ease. I have dealt with many moves, both domestic and international, and I have never come across a better overall company.

Terrible experience. Movers didn't bring any tools to disassemble furniture, and had to borrow mine which were packed. When they didn't have the correct tools, they stood around asking what I wanted them to do, while charging me $150/hour while I unpacked more boxes to get them some to borrow. Then they left them lying around. We got plenty of minor scratches on furniture and belongings, which are expected during a move, but still annoying when they have dozens of blankets that they opt not to drape over things. The real kicker was when they shattered my LCD television. It took 3 weeks for them to tell me that "[we] didn't purchase the replacement cost insurance, so [they're] only liable at $0.30/lb". Thirty cents per pound. Absolutely avoid these crooks. If you must use them make sure that they're moving your decorative boulder collection, and when it gets damaged, rake them over the coals.

Our movers, Will and Paul, were punctual (right on time), friendly, helpful (they were ready and willing to do a lot more than we needed them to), efficient (our whole move took only a couple of hours and they wasted no time), and careful (nothing was dropped or damaged and they left little opportunity for accidents to happen). Moving guys were the greatest. They were efficient, did not damage anything (condo/house or my possessions). Put everything exactly where I wanted it. Moved my deepfreeze fully loaded which saved me alot of time. On top of everything the day we moved was one of the hottest days in Edmonton EVER! I made sure I gave them tons of ice cold bottled water, I was sweating buckets just watching them. Yelling match in my house complete with F-sharps heard by neighborhood. Smoking in our garage, brutal, offensive music played at high volume (and I'm an iron maiden fan). No follow up by Calgary GM after my call. Bad leadership, would NOT recommend.

We had such an awesome experience with Highland moving, right from the communication from Jessica to the 4 man crew led by Wisdom, they arrived early and felt bad for asking for a break in 27c weather! They filled our storage containers with precision, there were other companies offering quicker and cheaper crews but I’m so glad we went with Highland, looking forward to having them back to offload storage into new home!

We had moved most of our smaller items and boxes before Highland Moving arrived. On moving day, the guys showed up on time and were all ready to go. They were polite and very courteous, completed the transfer of our household to our new residence in good time. In the process, THEY broke two items. One was a small glass door on a display cabinet... No big deal, I can have that remade at almost any reputable glass shop. The other broken item was our 40" LED smart TV. The guys took toe of what was broken, admitted to breaking it, and apologized. They said their "claims" department would be in touch. As it turns out, because we didn't buy their replacement insurance (the cost of which seemed exhorbitant) they only pay "by the pound" at $0.30/lb, bringing the total to about $82. We hired Highland thinking they were a reputable company who would take responsibility for any damage THEIR people CAUSED. Because we had a short move (10 minutes driving time), we believed their "extra" insurance would be used to indemnify them should anything BEYOND THEIR CONTROL be the cause for damaging our property. Unfortunately, they obviously take NO responsibility for their employees carelessness and we are out several hundred dollars. I would NOT recommend them for this reason alone.

I loved the detailed room by room checklist, it made me confident that the estimate I received would be accurate and not based simply on hours and mileage, which is vague. The movers were on time and professional. They protected the floors, furniture was well padded, beds taken apart and rebuilt, everything was well orchestrated and efficient. The day of drop off happened the day after a blizzard so had to shovel out the storage facility- which the movers did quickly. I highly recommend this company I will use them again!!

Jay, the Calgary salesman came out to give me an estimate and tell me what to expect. I was impressed with his level of professionalism. |However, the actual moving crew of Patrick, Jerry and Patrick's son Mike were not professional in the least. The day started bad as I asked Patrick not to smoke in the house (he smelled strongly of cigar smoke) - well he thought I was thinking he was unprofessional. The day was horrible - Mike and Jerry hated each other and I heard about it constantly. Jerry yelled at me when I asked him about the garage and his standard answer to my questions were "we'll take care of it Miss" and Patrick yelled at me when I asked him to bring back the Telus modem. I had told Jerry nothing in the kitchen to go but Mike took it. Patrick came in and yelled at me that he was the boss and I should of told him. Jerry was right there packing boxes. These men involved me in a drama between them and seemed to think that its ok to yell at the customer. I was so frustrated. As a senior single female I would have expected some respect. Delivery day was worse, I had called Jay the salesman and explained about the long list of problems - well it didn't get thru to the office in Calgary and they were calling me for payment and the three guys found out about my complaint. The office kept telling me its their policy to do this and that and the guys sat in the truck. Leeann was kind but not helpful and Liam the manager either wouldn't or couldn't take my call. The Calgary office was totally unconcerned about their drivers sitting in the truck doing nothing. I finally talked to Sean, the Edmonton manager and told him until this issue was settled they could keep my stuff. I'd had enough by then. Rude rude rude. The list is endless - do yourself a favor and use someone else.

I followed the good reviews and chose to use Highland Moving in Edmonton to move my furniture into storage trusting that nothing would get damaged. I was shocked when I saw my book cases and been completely destroyed after paying over $500 just to move a small amount of furniture out of a condo to a storage facility a short distance away. This is extremely steep compared to high end moving companies in Vancouver. Also, my white leather couch was not protected and was left standing on its arm on a dirty blanket. If you are going to use this company for moving I would pay for the extra insurance so you are reimbursed for any damages.. since my damages fell in the $100 deductible I was not covered. Also, they were not accommodating what so ever when it came to storage solutions since they require a 1500 pound minimum. I highly suggest using a different company to move your items especially if you cannot afford to repair or replace them on your own. Do not be fooled by the great reviews like I was!

We had highland movers come and load a truck up for us on the weekend. They were fast, professional, and careful. The only downsides were the 4 hour minimum at $177/hr. For most people moving from one location to another 4 hours is probably expected. It was excessive for us we only had 2 hrs worth of work. I would hire them again.

Highland was only company to send a representative to review our goods, discuss the move, temporary storage requirements and provide a quote. The move-out and move-in teams were on time, courteous, efficient and professional. The teams were happy to assist in repositioning furniture and boxes as needed. Cleanup and removal of packing materials and extra blankets was excellent. Our belongings arrived safely with no damage experienced. All invoicing aligned with original quote specs (no surprises). We moved from a town house condo into a single family house in October. The coordinator, Arliss, was easy to deal with in the phone and recommended a 4 man crew. The crew, by names, were Tarun, Jay, Raj and Sanjiv. They were excellent!! They were prompt, quiet, efficient, responsive and extra helpful. When they had finished moving the entire contents of the condo into the house, they went above and beyond by helping us to move a fridge to the garage and another into the house. Would not recommend, especially if you are moving your items into storage. This company (like many others) has a policy that you have to report any damage within 60 days of delivery. We moved our items into storage and when we unpacked them (more than 60 days later) there were several damaged items including our brand new flat screen which we had paid extra to have Highland package for us so that it would be protected/insured in case of damage (we were told it would not be insured if we packed it ourselves). The TV screen was cracked and then it stopped working completely. Several other items were scratched or damaged. When we reached out to them they said too bad, you're passed the 60 day limit. And that was that. I understand that this is in keeping with their policy but as a result I would not suggest using this company if you can't inspect your items right away, particularly since they were completely inflexible about it.

Worst moving experience we have had. They are also ...after some digging.....blacklisted from Armstrong Customer moves even though they are a United affiliate as well. They were recommended to us by another United affiliate not knowing about the blacklist which was very unfortunate. They left the King Sized mattress bag on the floor at our old place...wonder why the mattress was dirty at the new place. Also had to lend them power tools cause theirs weren't charged. Nice enough guys but far from moving professionals given that we moved a few months ago and hired some random guys who were the same quality but also 300 bucks cheaper...and used mattress bags, carpet protectors and blankets.....none of which were used this time by the pros.

the worst nightmare combo..Thefts/ damage/ overcharge/ do not want to do the moving for their customers. I literally did the whole thing myself and tried to do hide and seek with them just to put them back to work.. but of course I had to pay for them to play around, rest and damage at my house. they actually offered me a 5 $ (not a typo) refund if & when I pay 100$ to claim... what a joke

Moving crew was friendly as was all the staff that I dealt with. However we had a difference of opinion as to what was a reasonable amount of time to move a 1-bedroom apartment. Paid $1,200 to load and store for one month and that's not counting getting the items back out of storage and to my new place. According to Highland though this is completely reasonable. Not sure how people can afford to move an entire house with this outfit. They won't provide an time estimate for local moves so you'll have no idea how much your move will cost until it's done and you're paying your bill. Make sure you have lots of money in the bank for it.

The gentlemen that moved her were very friendly and my mother expressed numerous times how stressed she was and Andrew and Mike were very comforting with humor and expressed their understanding. The point where I am just blown away was they took a BBQ that was not supposed to be moved because we neglected to point that out (our fault). When they realized they were in same city as the landlord whom owned the BBQ they personally delivered it to him. What could have been a big pain to rectify for us, Mike and Andrew saved the day and no one knows how much that means to someone in my mothers condition. I will highly recommend Highland Moving to others as this is my 3rd time of outstanding service with HM.

Over the last four years I have contracted Highland Moving and Storage to provide me with a one time move to their location as well storage. During the first 4 years it was pleasant and the billing was done quite handidly. Once I moved to Norway and changed credit cards and employers the problems started. There was a declined charge on my credit card because I canceled it. I promptly sent them new information. The billing cycle for my monthly storage was than charged again to which I sent in an email my new credit card information. In the past this was no big deal, I simply sent them a new one and the billing was again resumed monthly with little to no hassle. I sent them my new credit card via email and it was not received or acknowledged by Highland Moving and Storage. They cannot be trusted with private information and can't recieve emails. I've sent them multiple requests for information which were completely ignored, one important request was for their internal communications in how they get and process a client’s information. I have also requested a client satisfaction survey which was redirected towards and email correspondence. Having looked back at all my correspondence and the increase in the monthly charge from 141.00CND to 197.00CND it appears that they have a really good front end for dealing with a client to get them in the door and they then use the bonded and insured trade tactic as a paywall and once you have your goods in their possession you become lambasted. I talked with the CEO and it was pleasant for the first three minutes than he asked how we can resolve the problem. The CEO was initially amicable in trying to deal with the dispute, however when there was mention of the incurred late fees and interest charges he quickly became defensive. The extra costs inferred due to their negligence is over 1000 dollars. I told him that I would like to prorate the services to the day I tried to give them my credit card information and his mood did an extreme 180 and he began to berate me and threaten to sell my things.

Great experience and service! It's always so nerve wracking booking movers: you know know how much it will cost and you don't know how good they will be. Highland was fantastic from start to finish. As soon as I inquired, they provided a prompt and clear quote. Day of, the guys arrived early (after checking that it was okay) and moved very quickly, while still being careful with all of our things. We were moving into a brand new house so were a little worried about marking up the walls but they managed to move everything in without a single mark on the walls or the new hardwood floors. The final bill came back lower that the quote and the office even followed up with an electronic copy of the final bill and to make sure that everything went okay. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use them again in the future.

Kind, professional service. The preparation team made sure that everything was planned for moving day, the movers called 30 minutes before arrival and were professional, friendly and very efficient. They worked extremely hard with minimal breaks and were very appreciative of the little bit of help (and lunch) we provided. They were done faster than expected and even followed up a few days later when they found a set of filing cabinet keys in the back of their truck that must have fallen out during transport. The only reason I'm only giving 4 stars is that the price was still quite expensive. It's comparable to other moving services here in Calgary, but still more than I'd like to spend on a service like this. That being said, if we do require a mover again, they will be my first call. Handling of my initial phone call (first contact asking for information) very efficiently handled and with good information. 2. The response to my inquiry and the customer service follow-up (I was always in the "know" of the status of my inquiry) 3. All the guys were polite and worked really hard moving everything with care. I was really happy they brought a second truck as we half filled that too!! It was great they had extra wardrobe boxes for us, as we were going to leave the clothes for another day but this way we managed to have the guys move all 6 of them. I would definitely recommend them to anybody. I was surprised they didn't pack a lunch cooler and drinks though. That should be mandatory outside of the city. All in all, a good moving experience.

Coming off Barlow north bound deerfoot. One of your trucks did a 2 lane change into the far left lane than decided to drive under 100km a hour holding up traffic. Finally after passing the truck I look over at the driver he is On his cellphone, while there is a passenger!! I get it maybe calling a client before getting there but isn't that what the passenger can be doing instead of the driver? Next time I'll be reporting it to the police. Also maybe some training for the driver as he was in and out of the lane could be because he was on his cellphone tho.

Overall they were courteous and careful with my possessions although there was some breakage upon delivery and unpacking of boxes. I had my household belongings in storage for 10 months and the fee seemed reasonable. I will have a claim so cannot comment yet on how well it will be handled. My one negative comment at this point is the time it took for Highland's personnel to try to finalize my bill - I was using VISA for the final payment and the info given to them by Highland was inaccurate (wrong phone number for VISA authorization). The one who was in charge was quite flustered and spent too much time trying to get it sorted out. I finally called Highland myself and asked them to authorize the VISA payment so they could leave. My recommendation would be that Highland invest in one of the electronic credit card machines to avoid delays and frustration for both movers and customers. Overall I had a good rapport with the majority of sales people, although someone neglected to bill me on a regular basis for storage fees so it was a rather large bill to face at one time, especially with the cost of the move itself.
