These guys had by far the best price considering their reviews. I was very happy as well because I had to change my moving date very last minute and they did their best to find the time to move me. I’ll start by saying that Helping Hands staff and management are nice folks and it’s unfortunate that our concerns were not resolved. They were 2.5 hours late and kept changing their ETA. We had to move things ourselves and were not given a discount on the final fee. For context, my partner booked Helping Hands for November 26 at 1pm. She paid a $500 safety deposit at her apartment to book the elevators and have a person watch over the front door (since they had to turn off front entrance security) until 5pm. The $500 has nothing to do with Helping Hands, but it gives context why this experience was frustrating. Also, we could only book the elevator at the new apartment until 6pm. On moving day, Helping Hands said they would arrive between 1 – 2pm. By 2pm they did not show up so we called and were told that their current move was running late because the person before us had underestimated the amount of things they needed to move. The new ETA was 2:15 – 2:30pm. Since 1pm, we had been moving some items from her apartment down to the lobby. By 2:30pm, they still did not arrive! We called again and Austine (the Lead Hand) told us that we would get 3 guys (he was the 3rd guy) for the price of 2 because they were so late. However, Helping Hands management told us Austine said he would only be there to help move things into the moving truck and we would have paid for 2 people anyways. Readers, would you actually agree to only have a 3rd guy help load up a truck and then leave before the job is done, after being so late? I will let readers decide the validity of this because this really is a he says she says situation. Austine said they would be there “soon,” but we began panicking because there were still lots of boxes and large items that we could not move, which is why my partner hired movers to begin with. Since we didn’t know when they would arrive we decided to start moving all the boxes down to the lobby to avoid losing the deposit. They arrived at 3:30pm, which is 2.5 hours later than initial booking time, 1.5 hours later than 2pm, or 1 hour later than 2:30pm. Had we not moved the all boxes ourselves, we may have lost the deposit. Helping Hands acknowledged and apologized for their lateness. However, it’s a simple “I’m sorry” for them, but could have been $500 down the drain for us. All 3 guys met us at the new appartment. After 1-hour, Austine left to go help another crew. The other 2 stayed behind to finish. This is problematic because 1) we were told 3 guys would finish our move; management had a different account as mentioned. 2) 2 guys move things is slower than 3 guys moving the same amount of things, but we are charged by time. 3) They’re probably moving slower because of fatigue from their previous move, but we are charged by time. 4) We had a strict time limit for the second elevator. We were charged $312.38 ($119/hour for 2 guys: 1.5 hours moving + 1 hour travel time + GST). I told Austine that he said we would get 3 guys helping us with the move for $119/hour, so the fact that he left early means our rate of the 0.5 hours should get a discounted rate. Austine offered no discount so we paid $320 cash. He explained that they were late because of the previous move and said that since we booked an afternoon move, we should not have been surprised that they were late. We definitely did not expect them to be 2.5 hours late. I also talked to Austine’s manager and explained the situation from our perspective. I was asked what I feel would be a fair price discount. I told him $240 flat (120/hour*2 hours) given a) their lateness and us having to move everything down to the lobby and b) our understanding that we would get 3 guys for the price of 2. He said no and did not offer any discount. I hold no grudges against Helping Hands and think their team is respectful and careful with moving. However, it would be a disservice to others not sharing our experience. I hope readers learn from our experience and take the necessary precautions to make sure they do not find themselves in a similar situation.

Took every furniture apart and couple them back together. Placed items wherever I asked them to and never for once complain or frawn. Helping Hands Family Movers were hired to complete our move in Edmonton from our Duplex to a new home just minutes down the road in June 2017. The owner was frustrating to work with, became defensive often with us, was careless with our belongings (barely wrapped anything) and exhibited poor customer care and service. He mentioned a number of times that he couldn't wait to be done with the move, giving us the sense that it was to be a quantity over a quality move job as other moves had been planned for and booked that same day by this company. We should of caught it from the start and listened to the review warnings from others. The complimentary home viewing prior to the move was the only saving grace with this company which is partly why we initially selected them. We wish we would have went with an alternate mover instead. The moving company presented as amateur and lacked the proper materials and packing equipment to secure and safely transport our belongings. We were extremely dissatisfied with their service. We even had to move and transport some of our own belongings in our own vehicle as the moving crew underestimated what was needed to move our items and brought 1 small truck for our 4 bedroom home move. The 3rd worker arrived 45 mins late and presented as ill equipped to move and in fact was also responsible for damaging many items. The owner did not provide quality work and customer care in our opinion. Many of our dressers, storage and shelving units, bedroom set pieces as well as our leather chair were all damaged in the move. Our 70 inch flat screen tv worth over $2000.00 was also damaged and burnt out pixels were left everywhere from the movers manhandling the tv. Nearly most of the furniture items weren't even wrapped or secured well within the cube van truck! It was terrible. Little to no responsibility for our damaged items was taken by the owner of the moving company. We can appreciate one new hire they had, a nice young man who worked hard and he had even complained himself during the move about having to be the only one working at times. He was polite and pleasant with my family and I and he spared the move from being a complete failure. The price was too expensive for the poor service we received. We attempted to request a refund ($) right after the move was completed for our services prior to posting any feedback or reviews but to no avail. The owner wasn't interested in providing our refund for receiving poor moving services and he emailed us his message clearing stating that. This review is being written to warn others to spare themselves from hiring Helping Hands Family Movers in Edmonton. If you are looking for poor quality workmanship, overpriced estimates for the value you receive (again in our opinion), please steer clear! It's unfortunate that we had this experience and we hope others don't have to suffer from the same fate as we did. The fact is, much of the damaged endured by our furniture and personal items could have been avoided if our belongings had been wrapped and secured appropriately within the moving truck and transported safely into our new home. You know you have a problem immediately when the owner comments a number of times during the move, "that damage was already there" or "we didn't do that"! My family and I are meticulous about our home and our belongings and our home is always in near showhome condition all of the time. We were really hoping for a better experience and a fair resolution to this poor moving experience and it's unfortunate that we didn't receive that. We won't be hiring Helping Hands Moving again and will cautiously remind others from hiring them also. Be safe and select an alternate mover. It was a waste of time, energy and effort for us to hire a company that took advantage of us and destroyed a number of our possessions! Beware!!! Thank you and Good Luck with your move! Found them on Kijiji and they required me to pay cash so I was nervous. But even though they were late in arriving, they phoned to let me know and gave me a true ETA without any BS. They worked quickly, are very reasonably priced, did more than required (like taking out my final garbage) and were friendly, courteous and professional. They even carried my cat for me and gave me a ride to my new home. Moved in the middle of April. He underestimated the amount he needed to move and suggested we use our own vehicle. Initially appeared charming but became an angry individual after his worker drove his truck into my garage/roof. He reassured me he would pay the repairs and has still not paid the repair company (and its been almost TWO months with a lot of frustration in agreeing on a company for repairs). Has not demonstrated integrity. Save yourself the headache and go with another company. **UPDATE** Austin read my reviews and said he would not pay the repair company until I removed the reviews. I think that's called blackmail. @helpinghands - I do not require a response, simply a payment to the company who repaired the damage your moving truck caused. That is the moral and legal action to take. Thanks.

Wonderful Movers! Needed help moving large pieces of furniture from a house to a condo within the city. The two men crew of Austin and Joseph did the job effortlessly, efficiently and were fast. We had a large awkward sectional that would not fit through our front standard door the normal way but as experienced movers and maybe even magicians they somehow got it in?! Once they realized how heavy the sectional was, without hesitation they offered to set up the legs of the sectional before leaving as they knew it would be too difficult for my husband and I to lift and move around. In which they had no obligation to, they truly are a company that goes above and beyond. The positive reviews they have are true! They are movers who are reliable, friendly, professional, kind, courteous and provide a service that is so needed when you can't do if you don't have the physical strength to lift, push and pull or the experience to do it well. Yeah, we had a lot of stuff, and the new place was 45 minutes away. But seriously, with three guys and a five ton truck, it took nine hours to load and unload a two-bedroom apartment, plus two hours travel time?!?! The last two cabinets and two chairs took an hour and a half to move down the elevator and onto the truck! It even turned out that part of what we were paying for was their lunch hour. Then there was the fact that they arrived almost two hours late. That's twice the four/five hours, plus one hour travel, in the quote we got. Add in the numerous dings and dents, and there is no way I'd recommend the company. I checked out some of the other reviewers. Some seem legit, others not so. I suggest you crosscheck with the reviews on Edmonton Yelp. And by the way, I got a call from the company owner offering me a $150 bribe to remove my review. Makes me wonder how many of those other reviews have been changed. His name is Austine - strangely, the very first review was written by somebody by that name.

I called this company for a quote to move my contents of my condo. When I was quoted the price To move it came in almost twice as low compared to fellow competitors. I was very excited to get this low price as a penny saved is a penny for a rainy day. To my skepticism I asked for the company to provide me proof of insurance and information of its deductibles. This is my right to ask from a business who is offering any service as my contents are very precious to me. Upon asking I got verbally assaulted which leads me to believe there is something fishy going on here. Additionally, I think (and cannot prove) that this company is using ILLEGAL workforce based on quote that was provided. There are soo many albertans out of work and this is just sickening that using cheap labor is put above profits. There is just no way to quote a price so low for this kind of move. I expect a response on this review but before I get called a liar and told I am fabricating information, I would like proof of all your insurances and proof that your workers are indeed eligible to work in Canada and are tax paying citizens. BE CAREFUL IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE THIS COMPANY

I do not recommend this company! I hired "Helping Hands Family Movers" and I am extremely disappointed with them, for some reasons: They left behind (at the previous house) some furniture and boxes. They charged me substantially more than the quote they sent me, claiming they spent more time loading and unloading the truck They damaged my TV and BBQ and no answer from them to reimburse me. I sent some emails to them and they replied just one, being very clear that they do not care. Even though they are in person very polite, outgoing and kind, I had these issues after the job was done and the answer from them (by email) was frustrating.

We hired 3 men crew for our job in Edmonton, the movers were prompt, as soon as the contract was signed the movers started tackling the job, they shrink wrapped our furniture, wrapped some with their clean blankets. I have used Helping Hands two times now, and their attention to detail when moving items is top notch... really. Having used different moving companies in the past, who have been good, I found they almost did the basics as far as prepping items for the move. Helping Hands goes that much further, and gets the work done quickly, not wasting time. They moved my mom from her old place into her new seniors residence, and made the move easy and stress-free for her. They are friendly and caring, but not at the expense of professional. I’ve moved a dozen times in my life and this is the first time I actually hired movers... I feel like I lucked out with these people. They were exactly as good as their reviews say they are. They started loading at 9:30 and didn’t stop once for a break until everything was where it was supposed to be at 5:30. I actually had to tell them to stop working - Austin was trying to insist that I let him help me set up my bed before he left! I can’t imagine what a better moving experience would look like. Sure, some small things were broken as with any move, but they came to me right away and told me about it. No hiding it. No excuses. Austin gave us an estimate before moving day, and it was pretty close to what it cost in the end. I wholeheartedly recommend this crew to ANYONE looking to hire movers. They are the BEST!

I needed to hire a moving company last minute as I neglected to secure a permit so that I could store my POD on the street. I reached out to the owners at about 9PM the day before I needed to move and by 10PM he had managed to some how slot me into their schedule the next day. And at an affordable rate to boot! The movers I had (Ron and Buka) were fantastic. They were efficient yet careful and extremely pleasant to talk to. I am a senior and they came with used boxes and paper. And they are not allowed to use that during COVID. They did not pack my bathroom because they said they ran out of boxes. So they left it. I had to do the bathroom myself. No professionalism and they were angry with me because they said I had too much stuff. They came to my place to do the quote. So they saw everything at that time. I would not recommend them to anyone. They have stolen a lot of stuff. There was a lot of missing small electric items. Missing towels, my bed skirt, and other miscellaneous things.

I call them strong helping hands???? A colleague from work recommended this company to me and she said they did a very good job for her. I phoned them and the lady I got was Angela. She gave me some estimate which was reasonable compare to their competitors. My move was scheduled for 930am with 3 movers and the boys arrive about 15 mins before 939✌ I have a super sensitive fragile glass ware which has been in the family for almost 90 years and also some sentimental items which Austine assured me they will take care of. I have hired movers before and I've not seen a hard working crew with vast knowledge on what to do like these guys. Complete tool set to dismantle my furniture and put them back together. I was impressed with Helping Hands Family Movers from the moment I requested a quote. Angela contacted me by phone immediately when I requested an online quote at 9pm that same night. Austin and his crew were professional and worked so efficiently at moving our 1500 SQ foot home across town. All three men were also FANTASTIC with my young daughter who wanted to watch them move her belongings. These guys were so pleasant to work with and really took care of our home and furniture as if they were their own. Will recommend HHFM to anyone who asks in the future!
