Out of all the Downriver Theatres they are the best price for tickets & food. Tried woodhaven AMC food prices were insane. Taylor Cinemark I didn't care for that at all couldn't get four of us seats together very small theatre if it's a new release better get there early it was sold out 49 mins before it started. MJR Southgate & Allen Park are my fav. Allen Park has the best fresh popcorn.

A little outdated, in my opinion, but still a great place to bring the kids to a movie. Find a bit odd the recliners only lift your feet, but don't recline your back..

I’m very upset, I’m usually never the one to complain..I’ve been coming to this theatre for years every time a new movie comes out my family and I all come to see it. I’ve been very disappointed the last two times I brought my daughter to see a kids movie and I get told that their aren’t anymore showing for that movie when it was clearly listed online. I drove from 25 mins away both times. when I found time to actually come see the movies to just get let down and my daughter being upset. Definitely need some improvement on keeping things updated so people don’t waste there time...

I love going to the movies, but our movie last friday was continuously disturbed by people constantly talking and just generally being self centered. Snacks and drinks are more expensive than they should be but thats to be expected. Would be better if they had workers stationed in each theatre to hush people who are being too loud so everyone else wont get disturbed. Its usually clean here, the seats ar comfortable and recline, every seat has its own arm rests and drink holders. Bathrooms are clean too.

I love this Theatre! I drive from Dearborn to see movies here, not ghetto nor are there any problems, the Police department is less than a mile away so I feel pretty safe and they have security guards but I've never seen any problems

On April 28th at 11am I took my 3 children to see the new Avengers movie and I was told that they were too young to see a PG13 movie with their parent. Now my problem with that was, I've been coming to this theater for years and have see all types of ages see PG13 movies and all of a certain it was an issue. Oh yeah I forgot to mention that my family and I are African American and a young Caucasian man told me that my kids weren't allowed to see the movie, but a Caucasian couple behind me with the same age kids were allowed to see the movie. Does anyone else see what's wrong here??

Everytime i come here, I'm always stuck next to a bunch of teeny boppers who insist on being loud and obnoxious the whole time. Also continuously on their phones. Tonight was no exception. I couldn't discreetly tell the managers because they would know it was us and possibly start a fight with us over it. There were not any ushers around to observe. To make matters worse, when i got there tonight to refund 2 tix i bought by mistake, the girl working the ticket booth had to call the manager up for assistance and i held up the line for everyone else for 5 minutes. They wouldn't refund the tickets over the phone so i had no choice but to stand in line. They should make it to where you can call or go online to do a refund so people don't have to do refunds through the ticket booths. Or at least train the employees and trust them to do the refunds without calling the manager, and holding up the line. I was beyond embarrassed. The girl working at that booth #2 was rude, too. Horrible experiences, especially tonight

Went in today and the service I received at the concession stand was HORRIBLE. I had to say my order multiple times and the server still got it wrong. Then to top it off I’m talking to him and he turns away and starts talking to someone else. The most unprofessional people working there.

I have a theater much closer to my home which I adore, but this is the one my work friends and I all live equidistant from, so we often frequented this theater. I really it was always clean, which is a huge point up as far as the average theater is concerned. Aside from that, it was just a cool theater... Until recently! I'm giving this 5 starts because they recently installed the motorized reclined seating I love at the theater closest to me. The foot room alone makes a huge difference! I don't remember the pricing being anything but average, and I never got anything from concessions, but it's a clean theater with comfortable saying and a great variety of screen showings. Isn't that really what you came for? ????

I know the chairs are supposed to be nice. They are new but they killed my neck. The movie was ruined by talking teens. Lots of teens were running around, hitting each other, switching seats, jumping over seats, yelling, using their phones. I went down and told them to be quiet. An usher told them to get off the phone. I’ve never been in a theater with such a disrespectful audience. I will choose another theater next time.

Ordered 2.orders of tater tots, takes 5 mins ans and he only put in one so had to wait another 5 mins and then they give them to me amd and they are all stuck together and tried giving them to me like that, so they had to remake them so now its more mins so minimum 15min wait which gets us into the movie after it started. Awful

Good theater with overall good prices. $5 dollars for the matinee and $6 before 5pm. Like most theaters, they have larger screens for new releases and smaller screens for movie that have been out for a bit. I've noticed some minor imperfections on one of the screens. Once you notice it, it's hard to forget about it. Been to this theater many times and have never been dismayed by movie goers talking or being rude.

I went with two others and this is a great theater. The theater is nice and large and the screen is nice and clear with good audio and sound levels. It wasn't too crowded when I went (Sunday noon) but the bargain tickets are a great deal. It was was a very clean theater. The chairs were a little firm, I've been to theaters that were comfier but not bad enough to detract from the movie. Definitely recommend!

MJR is a very nice cinema. I have been going since I was a kid to. It's very clean and the staff are very friendly. Now they have a bar. I don't understand why tho nothing worst than someone drunk at the movies.

The security isn't worth bleep there. I waited in line for an hour and a security guard finally showed up to let people in when he called everyone to get in line and a couple cut in front of me. And i simply cut back ahead and of them and the security told me to get back he didn't see it when i told him. which allowed me to cut in front of other people that he ignored. They think they can just push people aside because they own the place. When I know fully that that was there problem. So watch out because you have to guide people to where the lines start or you'll get screwed over in the end cause their never watching.

This was my go to theater, but I just found out about reserved seating. The days of running down to see a movie are over. Now you want me to plan out my day, pick a seat and hope no one annoying sits near me, no thanks. Unfortunately, it seems to be the way the industry is going, the wrong way.

MJR is our go-to downriver theater. Love the reserved seating and the power recliners. Also awesome they they have $5 Tuesdays and free popcorn for their rewards card. Facilities are always clean, popcorn is always tasty. There are a lot of HS students employeed, so your service level may vary, but they tend to be good more often than not.

A decent place. Almost zero waiting and they've never been sold out even on busy weekends. The place looks just a little run down but that hasn't had any effect on the movie experience; No video or sound problems thus far. Love the military discount. Been here multiple times and continue to come back.

The staff was very nice and it's great that I can pick my seats before I go and I don't have to stand in line for the tickets and can get them at the kiosk. I love the new recliners. The popcorn and pop were fresh which is a plus because we pay so much for that stuff.

Been using this theater for 10+ years due to location convenience. The people who work there for the most part are all quite polite. The audience in the general area is also reliably good natured enough that the viewing experience is enhanced. Biggest gripe tho is the cleanliness of the place which has lots of room for improvement (no pun intended.=3)

I'm here visiting my sister. We went to see Spider Man. Great theater. Recliners, $5.00 Tuesday tickets. Good rewards program. Appeared to be kept well. Clean restrooms, lobby,etc. There is construction around the entrance making it a bit of a Challenge to locate.

Theatre was clean and pleasant. The staff was friendly and accomodating. Because of a recent surgery I had to sit in the handicapped section. It was very comfortable as well as easily accessible and it wasn't too close to the screen. The seats are large and well spaced. Overall I was very pleased!

Conveniently located for us. Leather recliner seats are nice, and becoming more common. Bathrooms were not well marked (IMHO; I had to ask another patron). Plenty of lines open for concessions, so I actually didn't have time to look for the full price of the slushy I bought until the attendant took my money :p

Never a bad experience, comfy recliners, great sound, and screens. While watching the premier of 'Infinity Wars', screen went black. In less than 5 minues, it was fixed, and rewinded back to where we left off. Great response time.

This is my favorite theatre in the area. They have put a lot of money into renovating the theatres to make them as comfortable as possible. I love the reclining seats and the fact that you can get a glass of wine, a cocktail, or a beer while watching a film. The prices aren't too outrageous. It's a great place to see a movie!

Great place to watch the latest, as well as throwback, movies!! Prices are reasonable movie/concession price. All show rooms are recliner seating with good quality sound. Service has always been good and prompt on every visit. Includes bar if feeling like an adult beverage. Drink products are the freestyle type pepsi machine with many flavors to choose from!

Theatre is comfortable, and prices are fair, especially considering the rewards! We look forward to the jackpot when we're given two free tickets, two free pops and two free popcorns. Whenever my husband and I are forced to go to another theater, we feel cheated. The popcorn isn't as good, the seats aren't very comfortable and the prices are off-putting. I love my MJR, and I am especially pleased with the Epic experience!

I rarely go to the movies, mostly because of the prices (tickets and refreshments) and the poor experience. I'm happy to say that the MJR theatre was a very pleasant surprise. First, the ticket prices are several dollars below other nearby options. Second, the overall experience was very nice. The place was clean and I didn't stick to the floors (except around the concession stand, lots of spilled pop on the floor there). The scenes are huge and the sound is great - not too loud, and not too soft. The seats are also quite comfortable. The only downside to my visit was the temperature of the room. It was far warmer than I prefer. Overall, though, this is a great place to see a movie. It'll be on my short list of theatres to visit in the area.

The only reason why I give it three stars is because the order ahead service for the concession stand always disappoints. Our order is never ready so we end up standing in line. The point of ordering ahead is for it to be ready not to wait in line! ????????‍♀️

The seats are great. The MJR reward card earns points pretty quickly and works with tickets AND concessions. The bathrooms are many and clean. They have the serve your self dispenser that also let's you choose flavor add-ons to your drink. For the adults, there is a bar.

This is a nice theater with all of the latest movies. Seats are reasonably comfortable. Like any theater there are about a million ads before the show actually starts, so if you are going to a movie that won't be that busy you can show up 10-15 minutes after start time and still catch the whole movie.

Good theater. One of the only ones left that accepts Moviepass on a wider selection of movies. They have lots of movie times for movies. The popcorn is good. Decent price compared to other local theaters. They have seasonings and butter that you can add.

Started going here since Emagine in Woodhaven closed. A little pricey but all movie theatres are I guess. The volume is a little loud for my liking. My 8 yr old kept covering her ears. Shouldn't be so loud for little ears. Comfy chairs, pretty clean, and staff are friendly and always have a smile on. Will be coming back.

Has all of the trending movies, with also having quite a few lesser known ones too. It has a wide snack section witch goes hand and hand with my favorite part that the popcorn flavoring powders are free to use, unlike other movie theaters. MJR is by far my favorite my favorite movie theater brand.

It's a very nice theater, modern clean and efficient. All of the seats are reclining and quite comfortable. Restrooms are clean, and handicap accessible. Many handicap parking spaces. On a busy day they could use more though. I was forced to choose a seat on their computer and told there was only one spot where I could sit with my grandson. I really don't like that. Inside the theater it was half empty. Overall it was a good experience.

Good theater. They have a bar, the prices are about what you would expect. Some theaters have reclining seats, some do not. If you have to reserve a seat, then it's a reclining type. I go here often and would recommend it.

We had to sit in the front row due to a handicap loved one. It would be nice if there were a warning about the one step you need to go down! I almost fell! Maybe the second row is better suited for handicaps? Since you have to CHOOSE your seat when purchasing the tickets at the counter, I didn't know about the step until I tripped on it. Not lit enough or informed that it was there. Hard to view the screen when you're up that close. The seats recline but I don't want to lay back to eat popcorn.

Absolutely love the 5 dollar movie day on Tuesday. The entire day is 5 dollars to see a movie. The theaters are all great with the sound and screen quality. I also am excited for the classic film days this month they do that on Sundays and wednesdays. Will be enjoying more movies to come like always MJR is the best.

MJR is the best! I do wish its rewards program was more like AMC, but they have made improvements in the last ten years. Never have a issue, other than them allowing people with kids (such as little ones or infants) into R rated movies where I have literally no idea why they are in there, they spend most of the time taking the child out due to crying. I hate parents like that, Overall, great place for cinematic adventures!

Nice enough theater, but "comfy seats" aren't comfy. They are the leather type recliners, but they do not lean back far enough to be comfortable, and keep your head and neck at an awkward forward leaning angle even when your legs are fully outstretched. In addition, they do not police the assigned seating, allowing customers to essentially just sit where they would like, even if it impacts other customers. Overall, good quality sounds and images, but just a mediocre experience in the end.

I've never had a bad experience here. Even when it's super busy these guys keep it clean and sanitized. You always can tell when the bathroom is clean the kitchen is clean.

I usually went to emagine Woodhaven but after they got bought by AMC, I chose to try out MJR again... Seriously this theater did a complete 180, their new bar, seating, and great service makes going there super enjoyable, just watched baby driver in their epic theater and it was phenomenal!

Recently was renovated with very nice equipment but the cleanliness near the concessions is atrocious. Also, in the larger theaters have seating in the top corner and the hand rail for the steps is in your vision for the screen which is annoying.

All around less expensive than AMC. The reclining seats at this location seem different than some others I've been to. They sit a little higher and the Headrest is rather uncomfortable. Still an upgrade from the old rocker style though. Theaters now have a pre-choice seating system. In other words, you choose your preferred seat when you purchase your tickets. I wish the system would alert you if your theater will have stairs. Would make a huge difference to those that are mobility challenged.

Since COVID most people obviously haven't been to the movies in a while. When I recently went I discovered how desperately this places needs to be renovated. Still a classic place to see a movie, the bathroom were filthy but we still had a good time.

The projector in theater number 12 is blurry. When you pay $11 a ticket all of the theaters projectors should be up to par. What is the issue here? Also, why is the popcorn pre-packaged at the counter. This is weird. Don't like it. Other than that the theater is not bad, it was fairly clean, and empty. Conclusion: Needs improvement.

Meh! It was OK. The app for this theater needs to be updated and brought into the new millennium. Only way to sign In to the account was to remember or have your rewards card number (which I can't find). App couldn't tell me if there was stadium seating available. Can't pre-order snacks and food from the app. Stadium seating yes, however seats don't seem to recline fully. Volume could've been a little louder but it wasn't like I had to strain to hear it, just would've liked it to be able to drown out the whispers on either side of us. Popcorn and pop are over priced. Paid the same price last weekend for much larger sizes at a competitor theater. Service was OK but not impeccable. Nothing extraordinary to make me really wanna come back. Iced tea in the machine tasted sour. Pepsi products so the only choice for something without sugar was diet pepai, water and brisk tea. Better selections at the competition theater. Sizes were more like mediums compared to the "E." competitor.

I made the mistake of buying a overpriced beer, $8. I went into the theater in the front row by the wall. I know that they encourage you to turn off your phone but I received a text. My volume was off. I responded to the text. Mind you I was hidden by the walk and no way anyone could see me. The attendant told me to put my phone away that I was distracting the other guests. I asked him how no one can see me. He got huffy and walked away.

I’ve been to some TERRIBLE movie theaters before *cough Fairlane AMC*, but every time I come here I always have a clean easy going experience with nothing to think about other than what movie I want to see and what snacks I want to go with it. I wish it incorporated the more sophisticated sound systems I see in a lot of theaters now a days or better seating like recliners showing up everywhere but I’m happy with regular seats ???? with plenty of space in a well kept theater and an overall crowd that has manners during the movie with the odd exception here and there. 5 stars if they would offer a bit more like the sound updates or better seating, but other than that nothing to complain about.

Bad experiment. The theater is good. I drove 30 minutes to get there with 7 of my friends. We all got kicked out because one of us was recording instagram story. The security guard was kind to us and explained why he had to kick us, but the man that was with him was rude. We didn't get refunded. The guy said that there was signs in the door to not record. The sign was small as hell. I liked everyone who worked there except the guy who came to kick us because of his rudeness.

Fast and friendly service. Comfortable recliners. $10.50 for a large popcorn and large soda. Enough to keep you snacking throughout the film. I saw Marvel's Venom. Sound wasn't too loud, the action was lifelike and no distractions. Movie was scheduled for 3:30pm. 20 minutes of trailers. Actual start time was 3:50pm. I'll be coming back very soon.

The movie we attended was great but the theatre was expensive and dirty. The ladies bathrooms were gross. Clogged toilets, out of order signs, no paper towels. Went to a different ladies room and it was not any better. Paper on floor, dirty sinks, and poorly maintained. I complained to the manager and never even heard her say sorry or give a reason. Just listened and agreed. When you spend $22.00 on 2 tickets and over $17.00 for popcorn and a soda you expect clean restrooms. I won't go to MJR Southgate for awhile. Especially not during cold and flu season.

They've recently revamped the theatres. You can now select your seats when you purchase your tickets. So if you order them ahead of time you don't have to worry about showing up early to get a good seat. The chairs are large recliners. They do get a little hot, but they are comfy. It's always been a nice theatre, but the recent changes are welcome and much appreciated.

Went to watch a movie this afternoon with my husband, and the projector was broke. Madison the young lady who let us know the movie was cancelled was very unprofessional. Cracking jokes about the guests in the theater for all to hear, very unprofessional and uncalled for. On the other hand, thank you MJR Southgate for allowing us to see another movie and a voucher to see a movie at another date. I would have given a 5 star rating had it not been for the professionalism of a staff member. Sometimes you have to weed out the one bad apple before it spoils the bunch.

Saw "The Meg". It was amazing watching the movie in comfortable chairs. There is definitely more movie than the trailers show. "The Meg" was an awesome, action, one-liner packed movie. Recline back and enjoy any movie at MJR Southgate in style. The living room quality and comfort recliners are amazing, just don't fall asleep or you might miss the good parts.

Never had to bad of an experience with this place. Today the credit card machines went down. I didn't have cash, so I had to use the atm machine, which charges 3.00 and the bank charges you as well 2.00. I asked could we receive a discount because of the inconvenience, and having to pay more for the atm. The young lady which was very nice said she had to get a supervisor which understate, the supervisor came out and said I have to get my manager, which he came out and then he said he have to ask his manager which she never came out but wasn't able to assist! Very bad customer service. Still not sure why you have 3 supervisors who can't make a decision. Would have just left, but my children wanted to watch the movie

The prices for tickets and drinks and snacks are really good. The seats are so much better than the last ones they had. But I think they need to hire a better cleaning crew because at the concession stand the workers do NOT keep it very clean. They should wipe the counter off in between costumers. And behind the counter on the floor is awfully dirty. I don't think some of the employees ever seen or heard of a broom and dustpan before because they would be amazed if they used it one once in awhile and seen there is actually a floor and it's not made out of popcorn.

Love going here! It's always clean and we absolutely love their seats! So very comfy (especially for longer movies). Great atmosphere, fun for the whole family. Only thing we notice every time we go, there is not much security here and unfortunately due to the times, there should be more. And no matter what time we go, the concession stand lines are always long and you wait a while. Especially when going to get refills mid-movie, you miss a lot more of the movie than you planned because of the long wait in line. They should do at least a 10 minute intermission in movies if they can't fix the long wait in their concession area that way people don't have to miss the movie that they paid for to watch and enjoy their refill offers or buy something you may of missed when arriving. And that way people can also get a bathroom break out of it too. Just a suggestion :) Overall great place that we have loved going to for years. Best theater around!

I have been going to mjr southgate for almost 4 years now and have hated the program they had for members because twice this place has screwed me out of a free ticket that I have obviously earned. They gave excuses that it had to be after the opening weekend and then it became after the first 2 weeks of opening to use which is ridiculous. I know recently the theater has been struggling because for Cinemark that opened by the mall and I am aware they are competing for obvious reasons so they renovated and created an "upcharge" since the business obviously isn't doing well and they are trying to make up money for the renovations. The final straw was when I went with my mother today and was very unhappy with how the place is being policed and how intrusive employees have become. I saw a 2 hour movie and had an attendant walk by me perhaps 20 times throughout the movie for what I imagine is to count seats since that seems to be what is going on every 5 minutes. I do not appreciate having a bright red glow stick walking by me constantly distracting me from the film I paid to see...if I knew that is the new thing the theater decided to do to aggravate those who paid them money to see a film, I would have chosen a different seat far from the walkway even though my mother is disabled and prefers to sit as near the the entrance as possible. In addition, when the film finished my mother and I were walking to the restroom that was closer to where our car was parked since the other one was busy and we were on the opposite side of the building. There is no reason for an employee to ask me where I am going when I am simply walking down a hall. Do you want me to invite you to come in the stall with me? Why should I have to make an announcement that I am going to the restroom? I am not doing anything besides walking and I am not bothering anyone. I have had enough of this chain and will be taking my business to the new AMC in Woodhaven. In my opinion, MJR deserves to close as the owners do not know how to run a business and how to treat their customers.

The epic theatre is nice with the recliners and Dolby Atmos sound system. However, all the regular smaller theatres are lacking good sound quality. I'd go to Cinemark theatre down the street to see a movie not in epic.

Honestly one of the greatest theaters I've been to. Growing up I always went to Imagine in Woodhaven but they closed. So one of the next best places was MJR, they have free seasoning which is great, the seats aren't as good as Phoneix Theaters in Monroe but they are cleaner and feel more sturdy, though the buttons to recline your chair are a bit sensitive. There's also wheelchair accessible parking along with wheelchair accessible seats inside the theater rooms. I haven't really counted but I'd say there is around three to five bathrooms. There's even an option to get a rewards card, meaning if you pay for a movie and give them your rewards card you can get points which allow you to pay for free popcorn or get a free movie. Soda machines are more advanced than the ones you see at fast food places, they have an option where you can choose your pop and give it a flavor like vanilla or cherry or grape, I mean imagine drinking grape mountain Dew. I highly recommend this theater.

I drive 30 minutes to go to this theater every Saturday because it is my favorite. If you go in the morning before noon tickets are 5 dollars (for non-epic) and in the summers they do free popcorn Tuesdays! Concession lines can get a little long during peak hours, but the staff handle it well. Best movie theather I have ever been to.

I stopped going there. It's good quality audio and video, the concessions are fine and average priced, they have all the new movies, the seats aren't even bad but none of that matters because they never send ushers to shut people up. After having 3 movies ruined by a noisy audience and wasting $100 on 3 nights at the movies I'll never be back there again.

I was going to MJR for a very long time, ever since I was a little boy. I can't tell you how great the service was. I ended up stopped going to MJR due to moving away. Until I came back to Taylor, Michigan ((My current location)) And with alot of free time now. I decided to go back to MJR last year, and, of course, there was a couple changes to the place. But, I go through the experience once more, and it was just like how I remembered. The service was great, the quality of the theaters were amazing, very clean, really great. I give a 1 million out of a 10 plus experience for MJR Theaters. I am pretty sure that all of the negative comments that were posted were just because those guys just wanted attention. The only downside that I can think of that is inside of the theater is the lines. Besides, who doesn't like waiting in lines?

The concessions could sometimes be faster but that's the nature of the job, and the line taking forever is usually the fault of the customers and not the concessions people. I've been going there since I was a kid, and I even worked there briefly. So I was really curious how they were handling the Covid-19 situation. I think they did a great job. Assigned seats are spaced out and everything was super clean. No more self-serve anything, but the staff is nice and will put as much butter and salt as you ask for lol. Very happy to say that they still give popcorn refills, except they'll just give you a whole new bag so they don't have to take your old one. I thought that was smart. Everyone there was super friendly. Still my favorite theatre of all time!

I'm in a wheelchair and regularly go to the Southgate MJR theater. They are fully accessible with great staff, elevators to the second floor and more. They have great concession food and there is also a bar for entertaining. It's a great place for you to take friends or meet people before a movie. I will continue going back and as often as I can. I was so happy with the staff here. Most were teenagers and they were very helpful and nice. My usual interactions with teens that work in movie theaters is that they don't care much about what's going on around them. These staff members go above and beyond and made you feel very welcome.

The movie I saw was great but, the assigned seating is a terrible idea! I had to sit in the very front row because apparently people had reserved their seats days before the film it seems. A film that has already been out for a couple of weeks! Whatever happened to first come, first serve??! I showed up on time to the show, waited through all those previews just to have somebody whos fashionably late come up to me and say, "um?, these are our seats.". Man I was pissed! So I decide whatever I'll just sit in another seat and at this point the film has started and then a couple shows up and just stares at me. So I ask politely, "can I help you?". Yeah, these are our seats". We are about ten to fifteen minutes into this film mind you. So i say you're kidding me right? You are ten to fifteen minutes late so i go whatever enjoy the film. At this point i just go to my 'assigned seat' and just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, I then realise i have to recline this seat all the way back just so i wasn't looking up the whole time and because i was on the right side of the row i had to turn my head if anything was happening on the left side of the screen lol like why would they even have these seats in the theatre then on top of all this bs I had to sit next to Mr. Recite every scene whilst playing with his recliner button... that was the worst theatre experience I've ever had and I will not be returning.

The facility is a bit dated for an MJR compared to upriver. The movie was fine, but there was someone basically yelling her opinion like "that was a stupid decision to do! Don't go in there!" The entire film after asking nicely to stop. It ruined the entire experience.

MJR, in my opinion, is the best movie theater, for your money, downriver. The seats are comfy and recline nicely. The theater is clean and has plenty of bathroom space. The screens are large, for the most part, and the prices are the best downriver. The concession stand is priced lowest downriver (except for the dollar shows). I think the seats and prices are much better than AMC.

The service patrons are friendly and more than pleasure to conversate with. Granted their bathroom facilities are not the cleanest. I requested one show time and was given tickets for another time. When I went back to get the tickets changed the manager said I could not have the same seats selected even though it showed they were available. He could not split the seating from 4 to 2 and 2 so that we could get the same seating.in addition, when asked if they could add the additional amount to my MJR card since I had to spend money ($8) on the other showing the manager said no. I had to spend additional time and cost and was not even compensated with a free drink. What customer service.

My kids were crying and they did not even care!!! This movie is PG-13. Seats and cost (tix, concessions, etc) are all comparable to others- might be a tad cheaper... I give it a 5 bc it's close to me, parking is solely for us moviegoers, and security is always making their rounds. Theaters are clean. Bathrooms are clean. Staff is friendly. Popcorn is almost always fresh and not stale. Love their pretzel bites. The crowd is almost always families at least at times we go so it's a nice place to catch a movie with the kids and not have to worry about upsetting people bc the kids are loud or need to use the bathroom 10 million times.

How can you complain about a venue that offers 20 screens with recliner seats? They continually have the most current movies as well as "throw back" movies, so we can enjoy some classics, too. Movie tix price better than others. Popcorn and treats are a bit pricey, but if you join their Premier Awards program, you save considerably on the normal prices over time. Want a beer with your movie? You've come to the right place. Also, love to be able to purchase tickets online and literally walk in with just the Code reader shown for a quick scan.

But the fact that the recliner seats don’t go back that far literally drives me insane! I feel like I’m sitting up still and doesn’t feel very relaxed. Too many lines.. Line for tickets. Line for concessions. Line to get butter. Line to get my own soda.. Prices go up and the customer continues to have to do more the work themself.. If I buy my tickets online the only employee doing anything directly doing anything for me is the concession person and they're just going to hand me so already bagged butterless, tasteless, popcorn and an empty cup. $50 or more for two people to attend a night show and get concessions for each.. you should practically be waiting on me hand and foot for those prices.

Last time I went to this theater there were so many people I thought I was in Detroit, kids running around,people on their phones, seat hopping, talking etc. My wife and I heard about them cleaning up the theater with new chairs etc. The people in the audience were watching the movie no loud, noisy, annoying people bothering you at a show you just dropped 60 bucks at.

Horrible customer service. I purchased $51 dollars worth of tickets online, when I show up at the theater, they have now power, so we go somewhere else. It's understandable is out of their control. What is not out of their control is to issue a refund. Went to the theater as instructed previously to show my credit card so they could issue a refund. The manager there wanted to give me passes, I won't use those passes, I don't go to the movies that often, let alone spend $51 on it. I'm sent away with a phone number to call someone named Donna so they can do it over the phone. I call Donna, who conveniently is on vacation, yet when I explain the situation to the person answering the phone, she goes and asks Donna what to do, then says "she said to leave your information, and she'll call you back." It's ridiculous how little they value customers. The manager Devon lacks complete customer service skills. Had no regard of the situation. He didn't give options, whether to give a gift card, cash refund, or credit card refund. I would've been fine with any of those three, but not passes that are worth less and have an expiration date.

Well... Tonight started out OK. Then trying to watch Dead pool 2 with my fiance and little girl was pulled aside by DAVID! People were talking and on their phones etc. All I said was to please keep it down. David pulled me aside yelling at me as I was just trying to watch a movie I paid for with kids talking non stop! I apologized about my daughter having her phone out and he basically wanted my head on a stick. Note... I ordered 1 drink around the end and he cut me off with no alcohol in my system. BTW ... Did I mention I am a GM at Detroit's #1 steak house and opening the toledo store with 25 years experience. Epic fail. David treated us like trash. BTW the bartender was even embarrassed! I still left a tip because I have some class and wasn't bothering ANY ONE!_

People who can't spell and offer slander about MJR Southgate shouldn't be rating it. It's not expensive. It's $5 for morning showings, $6 for matinee, and $10 for nights after 6pm. However, they have senior and student dicounts. I get a $2 discount on my movie ticket due to being in college, so for all you reviewing who can't spell.. get an education and you'll be getting cheaper movie tickets! The theater is clean, neat and the staff is friendly. I can't complain about any MJR I have been to. The Michigan premier theater!

This is my go-to theater as I've never had a bad experience here! Their rewards program is great as well and the staff is mostly friendly too. Their concessions are also reasonably priced depending on what you get...and they also offer free refills as well! Moreover, the "Epic Experience Theater" (which features luxury leather chairs and an enhanced screen and sound) is slightly more expensive, but worth it if you are yearning for a more quality driven movie going experience. Lastly, it is somewhat of a tradition for many movie-goers at MJR to "clap" along to their theme song. I'll admit that I have done so on a few occasions, but only if there are more people in the theater.

Very upsetting, my 6 year old loves the transformer movies & wanted to see this movie. So we got tickets for the 8 o'clock pm show in 3D online. When we arrived we was told that we was not allowed to bring children under 7 after 6pm. It's is more for the adults than children. Totally BS if u ask me. He was upset, it's hard when you have no control & disappointed your kids... It should ask for the age of the children when ordering tickets online & not allow you to purchase them under that age.

If you go early, the popcorn bags are literally half full of popcorn crumbs and bits from the night before - they don't want to waste any and they don't want to make new popcorn after a certain point in the evening, so they bag the crumbs to sell the next morning. The picking of the seats is a horrible idea. Every time we go to a mostly empty theater we will have a kid that works there lead someone right over and sit RIGHT next to us - many don't understand the computer so they pick anything. Of course, we can look rude and move, but then the kid walks around checking. It was a favorite, now I won't go unless it's the only place showing something and everyone else insists on going.

The chairs were AWESOME. This was my first theater here in Michigan and I loved the experience. The chairs were SUPER comfortable. The popcorn was not over buttered. Although, the MJR employee who made my friend check his bag did not help to ensure the bag was taken with him when he left. My friend forgot and left his bag. He then had to drive an hour out of his way the next day to get his bag.

I'm very disappointed with Southgate MJR due to a situation that happened earlier tonight. The staff needs to be completely honest with their customers sat the desk when you get your tickets. I bought tickets for my daughters to see the Rated R movie, the Gallows. We did our research long before we went to the movie to see if I got the tickets for them they could still go and watch the movie. Every website we checked confirmed this. If an adult purchases a minors ticket for them and gives them permission they should be able to watch the movie. So I bought the tickets and they went to the theatre and then I got a call saying that a worker would not let them in the theatre. The cashier need to ask for ID if you have stipulations for age before they even go back to the theatre instead of asking for it when they go to enter the theatre. I had to forget all my plans for the night and waste even more money on a movie I didn't want to see. Please fix this issue.

Been going here for years and while I haven't liked it since any of the changes were made, today they went too far so I snapped... THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS. If I could leave zero stars I would. Nothing but cowards, liars, and thieves are employed by and running this place now, not being upfront and hiding behind a facade enabled by law enforcement and the tunnel vision view of life that law enforcement has. Rest assured, they are either planning on making you out to be a dumb fool or already think you are one. UPDATE: A week later and it's still not fixed, but at least they took my advice and stopped having 'Dumbo' be the only name showing up to greet people as they walk in and the only name showing up over theaters. I don't know what funny business is going on here but they need to fix it and they need to fix whatever is preventing MJR from posting it's showtimes to Rotten Tomatoes and Fandango.

I'm very disappointed with this movie theater, this is normally my favorite theater. I went to see the Avengers on April 28, 2019 at the 7:30p showing in theater 6. It was so many issues in the theater that night, first someone threw up and the workers decided to clean it up while we were still watching the movie. After that someone had a seizure they made everyone leave out the theater for 20 mins. I ask for another movie ticket, and they said they couldn't give me one. Instead they gave me a complimentary Popcorn. This was so unfair I really didn't enjoy the movie it was to much interruption.

This is a nice movie theater. Due to the prices for adult tickets (11 bucks) and 8 for kids plus outrageous concession prices we rarely come as it could easily cost our family well over 100 bucks to see a show and get popcorn. However I was able to come to a 10am show and get 3 tickets for myself and my 2 oldest girls for 15 bucks and 2 kid packs at the concession stand for 12 bucks. If you want to save money here come before Noon and order off the kids menu. Otherwise expect to pay out the nose for a night at the movies.

If i could rate this MJR a negative star i would. Went out with the family (first time in awhile) had a terrible experience. Kid in the movie theater was crying 1/4 of the movie. And a few teenagers were making alot of noise as well. Talked to a manager. He told me that i should had complained about it during your popcorn refilled or bathroom break. Because ya i pay to go to the movies to do your staffs job. Then offered me free popcorn for my next visit. Nah you can keep your popcorn i wont be back.

Nice theater. Shame the roads leading in and out are in such disrepair. The land owner should be forced to fix this blight. The recliner seats are comfortable enough. Online ordering works seamlessly for those who like to pre-order and select their seats in advance. Typical food counter, selections, and prices you'd expect. We keep coming back and are always amazed by how theaters can stay open and profitable with how little they charge for matinees. Very fair prices for flix that start before noon. It's more fun at MJR.

Wasn't happy about the dixie water cups should be able to bring my own water bottle can't enjoy a movie with a Dixie cup water ! Silly I thought. Movie was great theater was clean and very quiet ????

The worst experience I have ever had at a theater. Staff was rude, manager wasn't helpful and wouldn't assist with people talking extremely loud during the entire movie. Went out multiple times to have some assist. It never got corrected. I was counting down the time until the experience was over. You would think a Tuesday night movie would be a good night to enjoy a movie. Boy was I wrong. Not sure when if i would ever return to this theater.

It is a nice theater with fully reclining seats. You choose your seats when you purchase your tickets. You are escorted to your seats by a member of their staff.

Way way better than what I remember. The reclining chairs and having to pick seats is a nice touch. I wish the chairs went a little further back but it's still better than the old chairs. The bar is a nice touch.

Its simply better at mjr... plus its great to support a local mi business!-) Update 7/3/17... love the reclining chairs! me and the kids were all laid back enjoying Despicable Me 3 Big plus is if the movie is not enjoyable you can get an awesome nap they're that comfortable!-)

I recently rented a auditorium for a private viewing for my sons birthday party. I emailed the manager with a few questions before hand. His response was fast and helpful. Everything went great. Friendly employees, clean and comfortable. Great theater! I have been a guest in the past and will continue to go to this location!

Always a pleasant experience. No fee for online ticket purchases, choose your seat online, and simply show you barcode for entry. The concession stand is a little disorganized, always plenty of people to take your order, but some lines have 6 customers, others are only 1. It's not always first come first served.
