Haven't been to Yates Street Taphouse since it first opened. Wow! This has become one 'Hot Spot', especially for the uni crowd. The guys who manage the door and restaurant were friendly and courteous. They found us a table quickly even though it was packed.

We ate lunch during the England Croatia World Cup game, so it was busy. Our 4 meals were fish and chips, 2 fish tacos, a wrap and mine was.the Yates special hamburger for 17.50. the fish and chips and my hamburger definitely overpriced and I didn't seruch difference between it and the warehouse burger for $6.

Yates St Taphouse has lost my business. I've been rotating sports bars during the playoff season and Yates St was my preferred sports bar until tonight. Apparently, tonight was a "special event" and management could not honor the $10 Monday pizza special advertised on their website and confirmed by staff. There shouldn't be a difference between game 5 or game 2! It's not pay-per-view! Other bars honor daily specials and there are too many options in Victoria to spend my money here. It's too bad since staff are friendly. P.S. Do not order the duck poutine. It tastes like salty, rancid grease.

Feel like the quality has been going downhill pretty steadily, food has had problems or been pretty cold the last few times and the servers take a very long time and dont seem very happy to be there anymore. Have always liked the atmosphere and love music bingo but I dont go for food anymore

Came here around 8 on a Saturday evening. Looked nice from the outside. Loud, annoying, single bass music and gaudy tvs everywhere. We focused on our conversations instead but the music was difficult to ignore. The beer was good. Two stars for that. The food, crab cakes came luke warm, the classic burger was bland and both people said the fries were only good on the top then little broken fries on the bottom. But the Big Dipper platter, one of the few vegetarian choices was so bland. Hummus with no garlic or lemon juice, cheese fondue with no taste and daal with no spice. Next time we will go elsewhere for better food and atmosphere. This is a good place for kids who just turned 19 and have no experience with quality.

A nice place to have some great times with friends. The food is enjoyable and the staff are polite and helpful. I have gone a few times with co workers or my other friends and have enjoyed myself. Its conveniently close to the movie theater downtown so a great option to grab something before or after a movie.

Yates Street Taphouse is great for sports enthusiasts who like to hob nob together over beer & good food. It's sometimes quite well frequented and of course the atmosphere can be enthusiastic and occasionally loud. Great fun; for a while.(My ears can't handle more than 1 hr.)

Quite a robust selection of beers on tap as you could probably guess from the name! Good food, and great service considering how busy it was. I have been to Yates Street Taphouse probably a dozen times now and have never been disappointed. Would highly recommend stopping in for a quick pint or a meal with friends and family!

They threatened to call the police on me if I didn't leave because one of their servers is holding on to a grudge from almost a decade ago. I can understand wanting to keep the servers comfortable but this is extremely unprofessional and immature. Do not expect to be treated reasonably at Yates St Taphouse.

Waitress was rude, made a passive comment about the tip left, also the serving sizes are way oversized. No body in my party could finish their meal. I ordered fish taco and was loaded with so much I couldn't even close the taco, defeating the purpose of even ordering a taco. Prob won't return. Venue was clean though.

Food has definitely improved significantly in the last few years - it used to be pretty bad but when I went recently it was quite tasty. Plus, they're one of the few places that has beer 'towers' rather than pitchers so you can pour your own, whether you like that or not (I personally do).

The mojitos special on Sunday is awesome. However can't recommend the fondue. With in 2 minutes the cheese was already undippable. And the price are to high for what you get.

A nice place to grab some drinks some food and hang out with friends. They host trivia night which is fun and also difficult. The prices are okay and also the restaurant has the interesting concept of towers(1.5L) to serve beer, that is really interesting and cool. The service was not fast but not too slow. It is a clean place and the washrooms are clean as well.

The food and drinks are great but most of the waitresses seem to care less about actually doing their job unless you make a point of asking them repeatedly. We had a larger party (30 people) in the side area and the waitress continued to flirt with the group of older gentleman rather than serving people who ordered long before them. My friend had to ask 2 times after she ordered some wine, it took about 15 minutes to get one glass of wine. Music Bingo night (Tuesdays) is a lot fun but it can get too loud to hear anything (the music or the people beside you).

Do not order the burrito special or the chicken fingers. Burrito is super heavy and if someone finishes it, they should be honored. I ate the first half and I was so full it seemed like an absolute waste having this second piece. Too heavy of a meal, it tastes pretty good is the only true downside. Chicken fingers are tasteless and cooked too long. I do not know what they are doing but they have the absolute perfect crunch. They need to cook them maybe 1 minute less and add a little flavor to their batter. If they made a couple minor changes these could be THE best chicken fingers I ever had. The bacon wrapped Amgus beef with potatoes is to die for and their sweet chili chicken are an absolute delight.

Absolutely the worst service I have ever recieved there today. Got there, we were seated right away. Waited almost half an hr for a waitress to come see us (keep in mind the place was not busy at all). Ended up having to go to the bar myself and get my own tower. After we got a tower our waitress then decided to come over and give us coasters. We finished the tower, and noone came over to offer us anything else. Since we had already paid we just left. Pretty disappointed in you guys today. Not sure I'll come back.

Ive been here a few times love the selection of food and drinks....we had a good time until... our waitress just finished her shift and dont get me wrong she was awesome. But after that we never saw another waitress again even tho we asked a few walking by. We asked one if she was our waitress and she seems to get pissed off that we asked. Ruined it for me TBH

This place is a modern pub. Not super fancy but they have a great beer selection and a solid happy hour. I ordered their happy hour nachos and they were massive. Double layered, heaped with toppings, I was very impressed. I don't watch sports but they have seemingly dozens of flat screen TVs, so this would be a great place to go for major events. It's not as rustic as a traditional pub and not as hip as a Cactus Club but somewhere in the middle is a good place to go for a few rounds of pints.

An old style pub the taphouse is a pleasant place to go to. Many events held during the weekdays and a great atmosphere, be warned though it is cramped and can get VERY loud. The food is decent for what it is and the drink prices are good but still a tad on the expensive side, but to be able to have a drink in this historic building with a classic pub atmosphere is worth it.

I showed up there one night from camping with a backback and cane, first i was stopped by the bouncer at the front door, who said "We only let people in here who buy beverages and food" i replied thats why im here. Once inside i purposely order steak and high end beer, i have 3 bouncers inside watching me, when my food comes i pay before touching any of it thinking i could enjoy my night. I didnt tip, because i was going to drink further, and wanted to show I wasn't there to steal. Bar tender shouts "Nice tip buddy, then something else". I ate and left went and drank somewhere else, then went to my hotel room, food was excellent by the way, perfectly done.

Went for music bingo on Tuesday and had a lot fun! The man who runs it is awesome. Unfortunately our waitress was dreadful. I was the designated driver and she told me that I was not aloud to participate unless I was purchasing drinks, so I was forced to buy a drink. She was also visibly upset our table wasn’t drinking more on a Tuesday night. Seems like a good bar but she really ruined our night.

There was a group of 6 of us that went down for trivia night on Wednesday. It can be a very busy night and it is a lot of fun. Tap House hosts a great trivia and we have gone several times before. There were limited tables for our group size and we ended up at a booth for 4. We crammed our group of 6 into the booth. As I looked around, there was a great empty table behind us. A good bench/stool combo that would have been perfect for our group. It had some empty used glasses and a laptop on it. I have seen who I assume is the Manager using that table before on previous nights. I asked our server if we could move to the larger table thinking I'm sure they would try their best to accommodate their customers. She said that wasn't possible as that was 'the Managers table.' I was a bit shocked. He needed a table for 6-8 for just himself and his laptop? There were several empty booths in the back, seats at the bar or even the booth we were crammed into that the lone Manager could have switched to. Maybe my expectations for service were too high, that paying customers were important. I asked another server to be sure and she said the same thing, 'Oh sorry, thats the Manager table.' About 15 minutes later, another larger table that was reserved opened up and the servers were great and moved us to it. The service was great from all the servers that night though I'm surprised and disappointed that it appears the Tap House Managers put themselves above their paying customers. So 1 star for the Management Team and 5 stars for the Server Team.

Will never go to this trash establishment ever again. If you support them you support poor bashing. Plus the service isn't great anyway. Lots of businesses I would rather support in Victoria. Check out Garrick's Head, The Drake or the Churchill for better options.

Visited on a Thursday evening. Very friendly and attentive staff, with rather quick service. Awesome Caesar salad. Surprisingly small burger, with almost as much flavour as boiled celery. Our waters were refilled, but the pop wasn't, so I assume that they don't do refills. Someone at our table had a mostly satisfactory stir fry, but was told upon paying that they changed the recipe for it (unknown if was a one-time change or not), so it's hard to know what to expect if it were ordered again. Would return if friends were meeting there, but would likely eat before and just get a beverage.

Good vibes, good service, great deals. The staff is always friendly and the food and drinks are exactly what you pay for. Fun billiards and lots of TV viewing angles. Fun street view from some seating areas a large bar and skylights make for a pleasant experience each time. Bathrooms are well maintained as well.

The waitress who served me was absolutely incredible and so understanding. It was a very busy Saturday and I was hoping to have a large group of my friends to join me for drinks. I called in advance to see if it was a possibility and she said there wasn't room for a reservation but she would do her best. I was shocked and amazed when I popped by and she had found two tables to pull together for me. I really appreciate the extra effort she put in just to accommodate me. The server I had was amazing, the food was hot and delicious, and the drinks were great and well priced. Thank you for making a birthday girl so happy!

I went to taphouse on a Friday night and my server (I think her name was steph? She was blonde with tattoos) was exceptional. I go to taphouse often and the service is usually decent but this server clearly knows her stuff, goes above and beyond and makes me want to come to taphouse more. Someone give this girl a raise!!!

Ordered the Rib Eye Steak Sandwich. They served me old fries and then served me additional fresh fries .... strange. Asked for no mushroom's and the server insisted I didn't, so I was stuck with mushrooms... Steak itself was full of fat, not a nice marbellig... just large pieces of fat - disappointing. After I wrote this, I enjoyed a nice long hair in my salad and a second with my steak. Beer selection is top shelf. If you want a salty, fatty meal and some beer to level it out, Tap House is the place. Upgraded review from 2 to 3 after server saw hair in my meal and comp'ed the dinner.

We had the best time at Yates Street Tap House last night. Our server’s name was Maddie (sp?) and she was amazing. We were a bit of a larger group and the place was very busy for UFC night. She still managed to get our orders in and provided a great experience. The restaurant itself was electric and the atmosphere was buzzing for the fights. We will definitely come back for the next sporting event.

This wouldn't be a bad place to watch a game. Staff was accommodating and put our game on for us. But...staff felt rushed, food was just ok, and we strongly suspect our drinks were watered down. Burger was ok, not great. The flavour came from toppings only and not the patty itself. Fish was undercooked, and the bacon-chipotle dip for the potato chips while tasty, was clearly portioned earlier than service because a small bit of "skin" had formed on top. The place was busy. Obviously a popular local hangout so maybe it just wasn't for us.

Been too long for not returning. Got greeted as we walked in the door, nice! Sat at bar for lunch. Quick friendly courteous customer service. Ordered my usual two entree lunch when I'm "starvin'". Late lunch since it was mid afternoon and bar wasn't busy but staff was busy doing all prep work for night shift. You could tell that they all took pride in their work and their bar. Food (fish tacos and shrimp lettuce wraps) were delicious and fries were out of this world. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

I found the service extremely slow and items were often missing from when the waiting staff did eventually get back to the table. It would be fine if the place were less expensive. I found it not worth the money, particularly since the food is nothing special. If you can't find a table anywhere else, sure... But there is surely somewhere that you'll enjoy the experience more for your money.

I used to enjoy coming here for trivia, but they no longer take reservations and fill up hours before it starts. I was told tonight it was full at 5:00 pm but I could call at 6:00 pm for reservations in the future. The service is bad and the food isn't good. I have heard another venue is starting trivia on Tuesdays and I'll be going there.

Go here regularly for the trivia nights which can be a lot of fun and fills up fast. The staff, for the most part, are quite nice and friendly. For a place that calls itself a tap house nothing really rotates as far as the taps go and it is just the same thing. Very little variety and gets boring after a while. The speakers in the back where the pool tables used to be don't work and no one seems to give a sh!t except for the people that go to play trivia. It's really quite annoying! You would think for a place that gets that busy and brings in that much cliental you could spend a little bit of money on your venue to accommodate. The food is pretty decent and I enjoy their fish tacos and pizza.

Great atmosphere, good wait staff, busy but you're usually able to grab a seat within 10 to 15 minutes. Very central to everything if you're bar hopping and out for a good time. Great beer selection that changes up regularly, great food. Had some of the best chicken strips that were fresh made.

Overall, this place is garbage. Instead of serving beer in pitchers they use 'towers' which basically look and act like large petri dishes. Their bouncers are about as charismatic as Steven Avery. The only saving grace is their mediocre menu, decent beer selection and competent servers.

Went to the Tap House on “Comedy Night” earlier this week with some friends. We sat right at the bar, both bartenders were snarky and one was just plain rude (to the extent I was expecting a “just kidding” after he said what he said). Maybe they were having a bad night, but come on guys... good customer service isn’t hard.

The taphouse' food is competent pub fare made much more accessible by their happy hour special. A good selection of draft beer compliments your boiler-plate cocktail and wine list. The last time I ate there the service was more efficient than engaging and to be honest I preferred it that way. One of the better happy hour stops in town.

The server was really kind, the food was awful. The chicken & shrimp alfreo pasta was dry, not enough sauce, the noodles were gummy and hard on the top. The chicken was dry. My friend had strips and fries which were ok, but the chicmen was dry. It almost seems like food is made ahead and reheated? I was really looking forward to eating here tonight, and am now disappointed.

Literally non-existent service. We sat there for 15 minutes and nobody said a word to us. Not even a "hello". Multiple staff members saw us sitting there but nobody ever served us. It was not very busy. The waitress seemed too busy flirting and rubbing up on the guys at the bar to pay attention to us. We left without spending a dime and will gladly never return.

Everything here is so hit or miss, including the food and the service. Some of the food is awesome (nachos) and some is downright gross (wings). Some of the servers are attentive and some let you sit for 40 minutes with no drink in front of you. I got soaked by a beer that I hadn't even touched yet that just slid onto me. Once they fix the structural issues with their furniture this will be a solidly average quality bar

Great ambiance to grab a burger with friends and watch football or a relaxed night out. Servers and bartenders are nice and polite, food was good and came fast, which is always a plus, and prices were great. Menu is a little short on options, but there is just enough for every taste.

I came in for a friend's b day and went to the bar to get served before getting to the table. The woman behind the bar kept ignoring me and when I went to pay for my drink she was acting very rude and dismissing. Wasn't flirting with her or anything like that so I got really offended. Food was great though.

The food was terrible!! i didn't eat my pork appetizers because they were rubber, so i ordered the lettuce wraps and i had to actually send it back... i don't do that. BUT. The service was great and it was quiz night and it was so fun.

I used to be a big fan of Yates Street Taphouse, but in my last visit I received terrible service. I arrived with half an hour left in happy hour, and 5 minutes before happy hour ended, I had to flag down the hostess because our server had not seen my table yet and myself and my friends didn’t want to miss out on the drink specials. I felt disappointed I couldn’t order more than once while happy hour was going on. There were long waits for service and food took over 40 minutes to arrive to my table after being ordered. If I return I hope this doesn’t happen again.

Staff are quite attentive, however if I was just served and clearly have not finished even a quarter of my drink- then there is no need to repeatedly tap on my shoulder to ask if I would like another... The scenario was only enacted by one of the servers tho.. so it's likely just that she works at Aritzia during the day ... Would like to see a larger drink menu.. I know it's a tap house but it's still on the smaller side of the scale drink wise. Cool atmosphere tho most of the time.. surprisingly a lot larger inside then you would assume from the outside.

This is my friend and I's go to pub. Great food, great service, excellent decor. I can't remember any time where I've gone and been disappointed, and any item I've tried on their menu I've found enjoyable. A great pub for casual sit downs and just to get a drink.

Ordered the beef dip. Wasn't very good. Lots of gristle and the meat wasn't tender at all. They took it back and asked me if I wanted it made fresh again or something new. I asked for the chicken tacos instead. They were great. Amazing customer service!

I have been going to the Taphouse for over a year on a daily basis. I lived upstairs from there. I gotta say I was probably their biggest regular for the last year. I. Have never written a review in my life but I gotta say the management there is absolutely terrible. They do not care what so ever about customers. I am still so furious with the way I was treated I will not go back there. The bar staff is the best in the city, especially rean. They do their best to make you comfortable. The management on the other hand is the worst I have ever seen.

Ordered $18 nachos and received such a sad excuse for any kind of professional food even by the weakest bar-food standards. Portion enough for maybe two people, mostly just dry chips and watery salsa... There was a french fry in them as well. Worst $18 I've ever spent. My whole table laughed at them and they made me feel a little sad. Every bar I have been to in Victoria has cheaper and better nachos.

Ever since this place got their new head cook and changed the menu it has been super consistent and fulfilling. Food aside, I would give them a full five star if they came up with more creative drink specials and hired more waiters ???? Being a lady I like to see both genders of servers. Definitely has been improving though!

Service was incredibly slow, all of our party's order were confused and mixed up, and the drinks themselves were all flat. When questioned, our server basically argued that they were fine, when it was clean that their soda tank (or whatever it is) needed to be changed.

Worst customer service, I have seen. The table was not stocked with forks, knives and napkins for the beginning of service. The drinks were ok but not the best. We had very little table service to begin. The server that service got my meal completely wrong and did not seem sorry about her mistake. The worst part of experience that I got half off my dinner because her mistake. I think to get me to come back they should have completed gave my meal for free because I had 20 minutes for mistake to come then another 10 minutes for my real meal to come.

This was a great bar. We went their to watch football .The service was excellent. The bartender and I believe the manager ( a built Asian man) were very attentive and knowledgeable about Victoria. I'm a tourist so I really appreciated it . I had a Mimosa tower . Pretty good. I must say you might want to add more wine to it ..... Pizza was tasty and the "COD " hit the spot .SOOO GOOD . I went to visit my cousin in Victoria yesterday and we went to Yates Street Taphouse since it is one of his favorite bars. I found the food very average and the beers were a little expensive (compared to surrounding bars). However, the service was very welcoming. Our waitress, Maddy, was very attentive and prompt with our drinks (we ordered several rounds for our large group). She engaged pleasantly with our group and even suggested local pet stores nearby for our daughter's cat. We appreciate good service and would go back for that reason. I would have given five stars if the drinks were priced more appropriately.

Sat down for lunch. Waited 20 minutes before a server noticed me and asked me if I wanted a drink. 10 minutes later, I finally got my drink. Waited another 15 before my server returned and I was able to get a menu. I ended up getting my food after almost an hour. The food was good. The service, not really. Follow up: Spoke to waitress regarding my issue. She was kind and understanding. My meal was comped and she apologized for the issue. While this experience was not the best, I'm willing to give this place a second chance.

Love the towers, great beer selection, very decent food - great prices for the level of quality that you get. The manager and staff are exceptional. Good vibe with room to walk around, free pool, many big screen TVs that are really well placed. It's probably in my top 3 spots in the city all-around.

Service was pretty decent and they serve fairly typical pub fair. Their happy hour menu was a little small but had variety. I had ordered wings and nachos. My wings were a little dry and some of the nachos was burnt. The rest of the party seemed to have gotten pretty good looking food especially the tacos. I'll give it another go next time I'm in town.

Meh. Come here for the social scene and drinks, go elsewhere for dinner. Fish tacos were okay -- try the four great Mexican places within 1km for a superior experience. Excessive amount of TVs makes it very difficult to focus on conversation. Server was apathetic at best. This is a beer gulping, loud talking kinda place, best visited after dinner hours.

First experience @ the Taphouse was on a Thursday night after a movie. The service was prompt. The music was awful (in the hour we were there we heard such classics as Barbie Girl and Mambo No. 5), the crowd was rowdy and annoying & the appy we ordered stunk. We got the fondue to share which came with four cracker sized "brioche crisps" for a large bowl of fondue. We asked if we could get more bread and the server told us that she gets asked that question all the time but she would have to charge us if we wanted more. We agreed but by the time we got the bread the fondue was cold and congealed. Why not just include more bread if everyone complains about it? $14 for a bowl of cheese and four crackers is ridiculous.

An excellent happy hour and great nachos! Their rotator taps give you a lot of options to pair with those appies and our waitress was so fun and positive! The location is also pretty key! Grab a seat by the window for an extra bit of ambiance!

Went here to watch a show while visiting Victoria. The bartender was really friendly so was the owner(?). However the waitress were a little rude. Also they were having an event to watch this show yet booked a party in the main room who didn't care about the show therefore making a lot of noice. They could have placed the party by the pool table providing them with privacy and allowing other to enjoy the show.

Service was atrocious. The server made us feel like she had better things to do than to take our order. The tacos I had were tasty enough, but they were overstuffed, making them all but impossible to eat without making a mess of my hands. They could have sprung for one more tortilla, which would have made for three easier to eat tacos instead of two difficult to eat ones. All-in-all, we felt like we were camping their style, like we weren't cool enough to sit at the popular kids' table. Good thing we were just killing time before our reservation to Sizzling Tandoor, where we enjoyed a warm welcome and excellent service. I will avoid this place in the future. I prefer to spend my entertainment dollars at places that don't make me feel like a leper.

This is my favorite pub downtown. It's always a good time, friendly staff. The food is so good, one of the only places that still serves an amazing steak sandwich!! Also they have music bingo on Tuesday nights which is so much fun, and packed; the prizes are out of this world.

With affordable dishes ranging from classics such as chicken wings, house-made potato chips, burgers, fish & chips, and pizzas, to more gourmet fare such as thai pesto salmon, mango coconut prawns, and warm roasted beets with goat cheese, there is truly something for everyone. They also feature 40 different beers, and tasty drink specials (Fridays are a must if you like Bellinis, at only $4 each). The food & drinks are always fresh, and the servers are friendly and attentive. If you haven't been there yet, be sure to check it out.

Granted, there were a couple hiccups but they recovered well. The washrooms are always disgusting. The booth seating is dingy. This caucasion, short-haired, early 40's, short-build male was rude and obnoxious. I believe it was the manager on shift. That man has no customer care interpersonal skills and no leadership qualities. I feel so offended that to the point where I'm uncomfortable even retelling the nights events. This is a dive bar being steered into the ground. I will never revisit this place.

Great place to stop in for drinks with friends or a delicious dinner. Yates Street Taphouse has a varied menu to satisfy everyone as well every beer you would ever want on tap. I've enjoyed sampling different beers there and have found a few new favourites. They have a very central location downtown with good atmosphere. It's also a great place for pre-game meal before a Royals game.

Based on the food, i would say this would really be a two star review, but it has potential, and the service (Alex) is always great. My eggs were served very soft/runny which is atypical in Canada and i did not enjoy. The shredded potatoes were more like grated and mushy, and cold. Everything was on the cool side, in fact. The fruit plate they start you with was a really nice touch. The pancakes (not pictured) came with 3 types of syrup, all good. Excellent prices, just need some improvement on the food prep.

Just tried to go for a drink after seeing a show with my wife. Hostess asked to see two pieces of id for my wife, who's 31. We only had her driver's license, and she had left her wallet at home. We were turned away. Gladly now having a quiet drink at The Mint, on Douglas. We'll gladly not go back to the tap house. I had an easier time getting into bars when I was under age. Turning away customers who are a more than a decade over the legal drinking age because they only have one piece of government issued ID, is just bad business.

The service here was absolutely awful every single step of the way. Our server, Kennedy, barely even acknowledged we were there at all. She asked if I wanted a box for the rest of my food and I said that would be great and she went on to completely forget about it. I watched her walk inside, stand there and talk with other servers, pet a dog, go see other tables, and so on. I had to get up and ask someone else for help because it was clear she was never going to come back and we wanted (needed, rather) to just GET OUT OF THERE. The food also wasn't great, but compared to the service it was fine.

However service is terrible, I went with six friends on a not so busy day, it took over 20 minutes for the waitress to bring a glass of water after we had to walk up to her and remind her she needed to bring water. Her response was indifferent and impolite I wouldn't return to this place and would not recommend to anyone.
