LOVE going to this theater. Prices are super low and the experience is always endearing. Going to this theater weighs less on the soul than going to Cineplex downtown. They usually play the better, low key movies of the year. If you ever have a chance to attend a viewing of 'The Room' here do yourself a favour and be there. WITH SPOONS.

I watched the Green Book here a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed the old school feel of the theatre but they need to change the seats, they are not comfortable at all! The service was excellent, the cashiers were super friendly and welcoming. They had a decent concession stand. My experience overall was great but I wouldn’t recommend watching a movie here that’s longer than an hour, the seats need an upgrade!

beautiful independent theatre. seats are ok comfortable. not crazy about the acoustics in the big screen theatre though - sound got a little ear piercing during louder parts of the movie because there is no sound attenuation in that room.

Always a great experience. The COVID expectations were appropriate and manageable. The popcorn was fresh and the film was excellent. The staff were attentive and helpful. The theatres are both beautiful, but it's worth it to see whatever is playing in the main theatre if you can. The new seats in the smaller theatre may be uncomfortable for some people.

This place is definitely a gem here in Saskatoon. They play all kinds of movies here. All the indy films come here, all the strange films and even some big hits at times! I love when I get seated at the main theatre! The art inside is beautiful and unique. I love the old fashioned theatre look it has. I hope it never chages. The staff are wonderful, they are very kind, the service is splendid and the snacks are delicious. I absolutely love their popcorn! Best in town! Every year I look forward to the Halloween screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Such a lively theatre!

Old school classic atmosphere movie theatre. Hosts a lot of special/local events and shows films you wouldn't normally see in a chain theatre. It's in a neighborhood that has a reputation for being a little 'sketchy' but there is some gentrification going on and it's as busy street so it's not too bad even for a late night showing. FYI though, if you're at the last showing off the evening and get anything with a refill you're probably not going to get the refill before they close up the concession for the night.

This is a great old Theatre. I have been to 2 premiere s here and have met people in both movies. The ambiance is killer. If you want to do something a little different. This is a great option. Seen "BROTHERHOOD" here. Cool places to eat within walking distance before your movie.

Saskatoon's best institution. Come for the beautiful design, the movies you can't find anywhere else, the bizarre-but-hilarious etiquette clip, and the frequent community events. Can't beat that $6 Monday price too!

I really like the Roxy. They play different sorts of films that always get me thinking. My one problem with the place is that the experience you have varies between visits. A main reason to go there is to see a movie in their larger, signature theatre that's has charm and is very nicely decorated. Unfortunately, half the time you end up in their second theatre which is essentially a bland, black rectangular prism with no charm. This would be a 5 star review if I could guarantee you'd be in the nice room, but I can't.

My fav XYE theatre! Affordable tickets, great location within walking distance of OUTsask, Indig community centres & Midtown Plaza. Hosts events near and dear to my heart, welcoming to underprivileged and at risk communities, & actively involved w social activism. Historical interior beautifully preserved--I adore the starry ceiling and murals, great for tourists and OG Saskatoonians alike! And did I mention their popcorn is great?

This is an old theater that's been very well maintained. There are two separate screens - one is a smaller basic theater with close but cofortable seating. The other is a fairly large one with much more seating, some of it on a rising floor to allow for unobstructed vision. This one apparently is used for movies and also live events. The concession is small but well stocked and the staff were all smiling and friendly. We will be back there again.

The venue itself is a gorgeous evocation of the movie palaces from a bygone time, the staff are always friendly, the movies they show are great indie and art house fare. They have imaginative one night only events and often support local art. Best theatre in the province by no small margin.

Such a great little theatre! The interior walls have been decorated to look like buildings in Vienna. Great place for a date. Of course, the movies are mostly art-house fare, so check online reviews carefully to avoid the really weird ones - or maybe to find the really weird ones, depending on your taste.

I love this historic theater and I am so grateful that it was preserved. I have so many childhood memories of this wonderful theater. Tonight my hubby and I took our kids to his office Christmas party for a viewing of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and we were completely nostalgic. The children were in awe of wonderful period decorations too.

The last time I was in this theater I was 13yrs old. That was some 40yrs ago. Saskatoon should be proud of the Roxy! Although I wish I was there sooner to acquire a beer the lineup was quite long and people were late in arriving myself included.We watched Pulp Fiction and it seemed everyone had a good time. I will definitely be back.

I like the movie theater and the movies they bring in. Really bad popcorn though - they pre-pop. Was honestly shocked when they had the bag of pre-popped popcorn right on the counter next to the machine. I ordered thinking they had just cleaned out the machine maybe (was in for the first showing of the night), but the popcorn was stone cold, and the iced tea was like half the strength it should be. Wouldn't waste my money on the concession unless you want milk duds or something.

Great historic theatre. I love the decor of the theatre, and the popcorn is excellent. The picture and sound quality is great. Price is reasonable. The only two downsides of the theatre are the seats are not very comfortable (compared to Landmark) and the theatre is located in a sketchy part of Saskatoon. It didn’t bother me, but my wife definitely was apprehensive about going in and out of the Roxy.
