Here you will see all the opinions of real people who have information of the services and products of Welden Theatre (Movie Theater) in the territory close to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré (Canada).
Right now this business receives a rating of 3.9 stars out of 5 and that rating has been based on 127 reviews.
As you can see the average of ratings that it reaches is really positive, and it is based on a very high number of reviews, so we may say that the assessment is quite faithful. If there are many people who bothered to give their opinion when they are pleased, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to put reviews when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Movie Theater is classified in the category of Movie theater.
Bought tickets and there weren't enough seats for all of us to sit together in the movie we bought them for. It would have been nice if the ticket seller would have said there aren't a lot of seats left, maybe you should check and see if there will be enough first. They wouldn't refund us our money either.
Great staff
Seats are old but great local movie matinee
Good prices, not bad.
It's a theater in St Albans Vermont I'm just happy we have one! Stafford courteous the place is relatively clean and the rates are reasonable.
This theatre is good, not great. It's best reason for viewing is the fact that it is so close to home for many in northern VT. It itself is limited, its the mom and pop shop of movie theatres only offering 3 screens in an old, creepy building. However I give it props for that reason as it is the place I want to go to watch a horror movie. Overall the theatre is below average, but due to its personality and charm as well as it's good prices you can find yourself at the Welden quite often if you don't want to make a drive for a movie.
The movie was good, but parking is an issue.
Great staff! Support local!
So cold in the theater!!!
Always show the latest movies and they do a great rate for the military families. My favorite movie theater for sure!
Cheap historic and local. Like being a kid again.
Nice small town movie theatre. Great popcorn!
Sound was a little low. Need to update the seating.
A great local theater with reasonably priced concession stand. The chairs and decor are dated.
Prices on everything are a bit high so I don't go much anymore
Good prices for a theater, but only shows a few movies at a time.
They really should be investing back into the theater. Prices are the same as anywhere, so you might as well go out to Essex. The theaters are old, the seats are uncomfortable, and the place feels dated. Lucky for them they are the only movie theater in the area.
3 theaters,centrally located on main St st.albans
This place needs an upgrade in a huge way. Definitely overpriced for the way the place looks. It's dingy and old. The bathrooms are disgusting everytime we go. The locks on the doors hardly work. Only cold water to wash your hands with.
It's a local theater so it's not the most clean but it's decently kept and managed
It's an okay theater and they occasionally do cool events like free movies, as well as host an annual film festival. However, the experience just doesn't compare to other theaters like Essex Cinemas or the Majestic 10, which I choose over this every time.
Theater is outdated but not in bad shape.
It's a good movie theatre but it needs to upgrade their seats
I love the Welden I have seen some of their teen help grow up to be great adults and I feel with put this great theater in town it wouldn't be the same
I’ve always liked going to the Weldon Theater since I was a kid and now it’s an adult I still love going there it’s nostalgic to me
Great place, theatre one is a little small but for the price you pay it's not a bad place to go see a movie without a huge crowd if you're in town.
Very good value for the price. Movies are current and I don't have to go far. However, if you want a posh theatre with lots of extras plus a higher ticket price, then it is not for you.
Ok movie theater
Not one of the fancier theaters but they have obviously came a long ways in the past few years.. I had stopped going for years because it was basically a dump. But I went tonight and aside from the theater being a little on the warm side while the bathroom was freezing it was okay. The picture and sound quality was good. And we really enjoyed ourselves. Definitely won't hesitate to go back again now.
This is a nice hometown theater. I love the refillable popcorn bucket, the friendly staff and that it's quick and easy to get to. The seats in the theater are a bit worn, so it's not perfect, but is often preferrable to driving 40 mins or more to another place!
They require useless and unnecessary masks. Do Netflix.
The movies they play are great, and it is not far from my house what is not to like.
So in need of updating..... Seating is uncomfortable ... Really wish someone would take the time to fix it up....great area for a theater...
One of my favorite places to go in town. It's not the biggest, flashiest, or most technologically advanced theater in the state. Frankly, if you want spectacle you should check out Essex Cinema. What I enjoy about the Welden that you just don't get at the Essex is the much more distinctive community feel. The owners and staff care about their customers and want to make sure they have an exceptional experience. Instead of a mad rush to get tickets and snacks in time to find a good seat, you're treated to a more relaxed atmosphere right from the beginning. If I'm being truly honest, the facilities are probably a 3/5 but the 5/5 service and atmosphere more than make up for that to me. I like going at the same time each Friday, sitting in the same seat, and enjoying a new movie. That, to me, is what makes the Welden special.
The have recent movies; they have great popcorn with real butter; they have lower prices than the megaplexes in B'ton area; seats are comfy; sound is good. Doesn't have 3 or 4 D. And it's a 10 min walk from my house. What's not to like?
The theater that I've been to since I was a kid. It's definitely showing it's age as everything looks rough and dated. I can't complain too much as the prices remain competitive and saves the extra drive to Essex.
This is an older 3 theatre cinema which plays current movies. It is an older independent theatre so it doesn't have the highest quality technology of today and the seating is also dated. This is the only theatre in St. Albans, but the prices are lower than competitive theatres in bigger neighboring cities.
The welden always has a great selection of movies to choose from and low rates. Grateful to have a great place like this in town!
The Welden movie theater is a very old movie theater that hasn't aged very well. It's got three theaters and is a bit run down. The staff are polite and they run very convenient showtimes it just needs some help.
The Ac is the main attraction but the movies and popcorn are also nice.
They were really mean to us the time we went there, we left with are tickets and they wouldn’t let us back in. We even showed them we had them and our uncle was in the room, smh and supposedly we called them an ***hole so they kicked us out in a 17 degrees weather there for I will give them a one star rating..... Have a good day :)
Brought 7 year old to watch a movie during the winter. No heat. Theater was probably about 40 degrees inside. Asked gentleman if he could turn the heat up. He came into the theater, could feel how cold it was, went to the thermostat and made it look like he had turned it up, but the temperature never changed for the 2 hours of the movie. After the movie, he was nowhere to be found to discuss the situation. Just sad. I mean, if he knew the heat was broke, then don't play a movie in that specific theater. If you can't afford to heat the theater, than don't show a movie in that specific theater, especially a kids movie with a bunch of kids watching. Smarten up dude.
A historic land mark.
Too small for me. But I went to a movie that wasn't popular, so other theaters inside may be larger.
OMFG is so NICE every month my family goes here
Small theater and stale popcorn. Theater smelled of mold, has the advantage of being only theater in st.albans
Great prices for tickets. Always clean, quite and usually not crazy packed with people. Would of gave it 5 stars but the snacks and popcorn are a little pricey(like most places)...
Amazing finally went on a 4th date with the love of my life if 13 years and a couple if friends, i had a wonderful time! Thank you
Decent theater for price. But a bit rundown.
Small theater not bad seats biggest complaint no refills on large size like most movie theaters offer and their concession prices match the fancy theatres but their proportions are a size down. Good local theater and since they are the only one I am guessing this old town relic is here to stay.
The theater could use updates to show less age and some better seating but staff is always kind and informative, popcorn is good and they serve Coke products! We enjoy going.
Great local theater, and they use real butter on their popcorn! Cheapest tickets in the area.
Needs to be updated. But its cheap for movies
Needs to be updated and offer refills
lots of memories from here..and still cheap and excellent service..hey why pay 18 bucks for fancy dancy..say nothing about concession prices..ha!! why pay so much when you can enjoy old school??
THE WELDEN THEATRE IS A VERY GOOD MOVIES PLACE THING, WHO CARES IF IT LOOKS OLD AND CRUMMY...YOU CAN STILL WATH A MOVIE THERE AND SNEEK IN BLANKETS. THE POPCOR THERE IS GREAT AND THERE ISNT "limited food options" YOU CAN HAVE WHOPPER CANDIES GUMMY WORMS AND SO MUCH MORE. WELDEN THEATRE IS A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN MAKE MEMORIES WITH YOUR FAMILY AND LOVED ONES. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE WELDEN IF YOU WANT TO SEE A VERY COOL MOVIE. sincerely, arleigh richard
Theater 1 is a 120 inch home theater screen... 7 seat rows, smallest and oldest theater I’ve ever been to. Will probably avoid it...
This place is stuck in time. Plus side is it isn't expensive. Their schedule is anything but convenient.
We love it. Yea it's old and not 5 star place but cheapest place around and no big crowds. Would say go to it and judge for yourself
This movie theater has gone digital- but not in a good way when it comes to picture quality. Quite clearly they have skimped either on the projectors, or simply on the set up for those projectors. From the opening credits and ads you will see that the video image is slightly fuzzy - just barely on the edge of being in focus. The sound is still good, and they do show multiple films at a time - however, each theater I have been in has the same issue. I've been in to see a movie twice in the past 6 months - both times I have asked others in the theater if it looked fuzzy to them, and after positive affirmations, I have gone to the front desk about it. I was told, "these are all digital- and it is what it is - they can't get focused" Twice is enough to keep me out - especial with the same experience both times. I don't want to have to drive 30 minutes extra to see a movie that's shown IN FOCUS, but if you want a good Movie Theater Experience, skip this place until they can get a digital video if not in digital laser-like clarity - at least looking crisp enough not to rub your eyes. If you go there, and see what I mean, feel free to ask for your ticket money back - maybe they will figure out that fuzzy for a movie theater is just not acceptable.
Quaint little theater with reasonable prices and a pretty good snack bar. Dated decor and small screens, but its a great place to catch a movie all the same!
Great small theatre!
Love the popcorn.
Very nice staff place is clean great family fun
I've never been there before
Great theatre, old school charm. Like going to the drive in, this is how movies should be watched, not at some fancy place that charges you your first born to watch a film, but in an environment that allows you to forget pretense and have fun.
Historic and fun. Cheap seats too!
So it's a tiny three screen theatre with only one big screen. Just know that going in. The popcorn is real with real butter, the staff is local teenagers who nice enough. Prices are also extremely low across the board. It's a great theatre to see movies you aren't obsessed over having your retinas seared by or to take a bunch of kids to another forgettable cgi atrocity without breaking the bank.
Enjoyed a double feature on Saturday afternoon at this quaint hometown theater. The popcorn was very nice and the staff very friendly.
Needs updating but pleasant staff
It was $9 a piece for adults, the seats were uncomfortable and creaky-certainly not worth $9, then again there are in a lot of other options in town ???? you can't even bring a backpack into the place, and there is only one set of restrooms! No parking lot, Limited food choices and drink.
This is what you would expect from a small town movie theater.
Ah the Welden. A St. Albans Institution. I would give it four starts because it's ready for a little capital investment, but I just have too many good memories here. What's small town life without a small town theater? Two of the theater's are good, the third is about the size of my TV. Still, you can't go wrong here as the atmosphere is great and they use real butter on their popcorn.
Movie theatre is reopening at july 17 2020
It's a little run down. Wish they would update it. Otherwise we enjoy going there
Friendly staff
Bathrooms and ceiling are gross but the staff are nice and the tickets are cheap.
Small town movie theater with reasonably priced tickets and concessions. The people are super helpful and friendly.
Its a decent theater, the prices are good, but it's a little run down. The candy selection is a little weird, but again, it's a good price and I can deal with not having my favorite candy.
Kept yell at us to stand be hind ropes when we were off to the side was not great customer service
Please fix your chairs. Updating your screens/projectors might stop families like mine from taking a 45 min ride to go to Essex or Williston
They need to redo the whole place, seats are way out dated compared to other theaters, snack bar can use a face lift , now saying all that the people working there are really nice and polite .
has the latest in movies, great popcorn with REAL butter. three different screens. senior discount on admission. movie also shown at 2 & 4 - 4:30 shows. shell chair accessible also serves candy & soda, & juice
Pleasantly surprised. Been years since I've been to the Welden. The popcorn was fresh, my seat was clean and the whole evening only cost me $19! ????
It's a small town theater. Things aren't in the best shape, but are comfortable. Prices are affordable and they show most new releases. They also do an awesome community freebie called Way Back Wednesday where they show an older movie for free. :)
Love the convenience and feeling of community at Welden! Thanks for serving St Albans
It's a cozy theater but the restrooms are outdated probably from the 70's
Good for the price
A staple of Saint Albans. Could use a modern upgrade, but still a great experience in the heart of the city.
Prices for popcorn and treats are ridiculous!
Great place to see a movie.
Good price
Three theatres and lots of new movies. Hot buttered popcorn, yum!
Keep in mind the Welden had to invest a considerable amount of money to update the projectors when it went digital hence the inside may not be as ‘new’ as some have posted. The movies are inexpensive along with the the concessions plus not having the drive to Williston or Essex to see a movie and the staff have always been polite. The small theater is great for kids as they will think it’s a good size. Our dog is happier when we stay local.
Ideally a great small town theater with hospitality. Don't always get the newest movie I want to see but less than 20 bucks for 2 too see what's on and free "way back Wednesdays" during the school year viewing at 630 always a great hit often relavent to a current new movie or the nearing holidays. St albans would not be the same without this place hopefully my kids ; kids will be able to have some of the same great memories to cherish made here as we do.
Nice to have a local theater, could use a bit of maintenance/upkeep
Small theater
A little expensive for the sizes of the theaters/screens, but still a nice place to go see a movie, and conveniently located right in downtown.
Fun to watch movies, clean. Loved ghostbusters
Run down building and small town feel. Theaters are passable, but the sound is sometimes rattling from the bass. Circulation of films is always good. Never had issues with the high schooler staff and the candy/popcorn is overpriced like every other theater. Movie prices are a good value.
Loved the covid precautions.
What a nice small theater to go to when you just want to relax and not deal with too many people
Only theater in 05478 / St Albans... theater 1 is a joke, barely bigger than a modern hdtv, but 2 and 3 are ok. Seating hasn't been updated since the late 80s or early 90s tho, be warned
Great place get the year bucket for popcorn
Old time theater.
Good theater
Great place
Good movies!!
Lived in St. Albans all my LIFE and the Weldon has had no Major Repairs/Renovations. Prices to watch movies isn't bad but prices of drinks/snacks is a bit much for a family of let's say 4. No deals on refills etc which is a bummer. It's just okay but I do have lots of memories as a child there. Now as an Adult I'd rather Travel to Essex with my kiddos. It's worth the gas, admission & food/drinks imo. But for a spur of the moment here in Town it's okay. P.S make sure you bring a hoodie, sweater or jacket during cold seasons bc it always seems to get chilly.
I grew up with this theater, and now that i'm back in the area i'm happy to see it's still here. It's not the most modernized theater, but it's got decent seats, and prices are better than most megaplexes. If i was going to offer a critique is that they don't always show 9pm movies, and often the movies they show are big budget and middle of the road. Would be nice to see a few more indie's come through... but this is franklin county afterall. Keep on keepin' on Weldon!
I love the Welden. They show just released movies at a good price. They have real butter on popcorn and they are very community minded.
Very rundown
Beautiful old theater! Lots of history!!
Great little cinema
Great place.service is good and place is clean
It's perfect for the area, decent prices and fast service. It sure beats having to drive 45 minutes to the next closest theatre. I would of rated 5 stars but last time I went popcorn was cold and the seats drive me nuts. They're comfortable enough but they're all flat instead of at an angle and some tall guy always sits in front of me so it's difficult to see. But compared to the better theatres down in Williston and Burlington it's cheaper and closer.
Awesome and convienent movie theater!
Good place
Great prices! Up to date movies! Small! Just a great little theater!
I'm so glad we have the Welden as an option in Saint Albans. It's so difficult traveling 30 minutes every time you want to see a movie. It's a city so it's wonderful to have a place like the Welden. They've event started free movie nights for classics, an awesome perk to the community. Make sure to buy some popcorn too, the food is what keeps them open so let's make sure their doors never close! #SupportLocal
Great experience
Cool place, military rate, good prices. Retro
A nice theater for the area, not top notch tho
Cheap. Friendly employees. Not an amazing quality movie theater, but definitely a good one.
Kind of a bummer because you can see it was once a beautiful theater. The ceiling has bits that are drooping down that block the screen and there are smudges on the canvas of the screen. This is in Theater 1 but I assume the other theaters are similar. It also was unusually cold. I had on my full winter coat and wished I had a blanket. The popcorn was unusually salty even for a movie theater. The whole place just feels neglected. I think they'd need to take out a loan to fix the place up and I guess as it is they just can't. It's too bad.
Great staff, older building... Old school charm
