It's always a pleasure to attend movies at The Magic Lantern,but we were disappointed this time that we did not arrive early enough to get a seat in the balcony.We highly recommend that you go to see Bohemian Rhapsody.

A very nice place that references oldies movies. Nothing really seems to bother me. I Ordered Popcorn MTN Dew then candy. And what do you know the service is great! They listen then Immediately get working. Great place! They do this lucky wheel as well and you win anything. And that's fun!

Love this place! Visited again for the first time in years and the balcony seating with beer & wine was a nice touch. Concession prices were very reasonable too - my husband and I were able to enjoy some snacks + beers for less than $30 - will definitely stop by again on our next trip up here!

So spectacular to order food that MWV Cinema doesn't have. And upstairs is no kids allowed. Which means quiet, and they serve you alcoholic beverages

Quirky, fun privately owned theater with 3-4 screens open. Pub is also fun and quirky. If you go to an evening showing and sit in the balcony, you can have alcoholic beverages brought to you after you order them from the pub. The movies don't change very often in the off-season, but they get good movies, and always have at least one for kids. Clean and old-time theater surroundings. Very comfortable seats.

Let me start by saying that I would agree with most of the positive statements made by other reviews (e.g., great small theater that gets terrific movies and has a great pub). So why the 1 star review? Well the owner of the Lantern decided to enact a policy where employees of the theater can (at their discretion) search your bag looking for candy and other items for sale at the counter. Look I get that theaters make most of there profit from soda and popcorn but I don't agree with this policy. Recently I took my 12 year old son to the movies. He has type 1 diabetes and I always carry a backpack containing his test kits and glucose tabs. Anyone who has a loved one with diabetes know that these items are a medical necessity. Upon purchasing my tickets the teenager behind the counter demanded that I allow her to search my bag. I politely refused (I don't want anyone messing with my sons medical supplies and frankly it felt invasive). The manager then demanded that I submit to a search. When I asked why they wanted to ensure that I wast smuggling food into the theater (mind you I had actually bought popcorn). So I gave in but not with out feeling like I was no longer in the USA. I also noticed that the teenage "search your bag squad" didn't seem to be searching the purses of the mothers (I am Dad). My guess is most women would find the notion of having their purse searched to be completely unacceptable (I agree). But it also felt discriminatory. So my advice is to if you have any sort of medical condition that requires you carry supplies and don't want teenagers pawing though it go elsewhere.

It's the prettiest, most well-appointed theater anywhere. The pub is a great place to eat, also. Admission prices are low. It is a labor of love to our community from the Howell family. Its beauty does not prevent it from feeling friendly and warm.

The ONLY theater my family goes to! Beautifully refinished a few years ago. Comfy seats with leg room for us taller folks, balcony seating for 21 and over...and the most reasonable prices anywhere! Super clean theaters where your feet don't stick to the floor...just an added bonus!

I've only been once--on like a Monday night, but this place is pretty cool! Very affordable. They also have a bar inside the theater. In passing, snacks seemed quite reasonable--though I didn't get a good look at the menu. Check it out!

Very good food in the pub, if you like the Red Sox or Patriots you are ok because if they are playing most likely it is on the big screen in the public. Only complaint a lot of times it shows all kids movies. Not all adults have kids in tow. Always should show a least 1 adult movie for the people whose kids are all grown up

Nice theatres, plenty of leg room and comfortable seats. Good popcorn and other treats available, reasonably priced in comparison to other theatres. The pub is ok, nothing gourmet, just average frozen/fried appetizers. Burgers are huge!

What a gem! We had a rainy day on Kezar Lake, so we headed to Bridgton to see a movie. This place is the way it should be when you see a movie. It has all the character of old theaters, but has modern updates. There's a bar attached and I guess they use the facilities for many community events. Will make a trip back here next time we are in the area!

There are not many places that you can go and watch a movie while enjoying your favorite adult beverage. Magic Lantern has a pub with decent food. One word of caution, order your second round sooner rather than later, the pub closes early.

This theater is about a 25 minute drive for us but we see all our movies here regardless. It's clean, comfortable and has clean restrooms. Concession stand is great, and a pub if you so choose. We also love the balcony seating.

Its a small theater, but they seem to try to play the three biggest hits of the week. Much more affordable than any other big movie company. Grab a bite to eat in the pub before your movie and you will also be impressed with the food and drinks. It's a great place to go on a rainy day!

Love it here... very affordable and clean and having the pub room where you can relax before or after your movie and have dinner, a snack, or just a drink is awesome. You can bring food into the theater and there is a balcony for over 21 and alcohol is allowed. My favorite theater.

I stood at the "please wait to be seated" sign for a couple minutes before I was greeted. There were two other parties in the place but it was largely empty. I sat down and the lady gave me a menu and walked off. She did not ask me if I wanted anything to drink. After sitting down for a couple minutes, without a drink, I put the menu back and walked out. Not very welcoming to new faces. Unless you are from the area, stay away.
