Took my son here for a boys night out. Really enjoyed the expirence and featured films. Only thing I'd say is make sure you bring your wallet. 2 chocolate bars, gummy worms and a bottle of ginger al cost me $20. I know they have to make their money. Just a heads up so your not surprised when you arrive if you never been.

The price was right $15 for a car load on sundays.my wife and I couldn't go to the movie theater and see two movies for 15 all together. The popcorn was ok it would have been better if they did have it pre bagged and sitting in a warmer. They are very strict on no outside food or drinks which is understandable they need to make money at the candy bar to keep the place open. I would totally go back there. Date night for my wife and I and we didn't even spend $40 and we got to see two movies. The men's washroom was a little dated but it worked, according to my wife the girls washroom was to small.

If you are looking for an old fashioned drive in. This is the place. Kids loved it. Adults enjoyed it. Popcorn was buttery and good. Easy to find. Kids working there seemed to enjoy their jobs. You need comfortable walking shoes as the ground is quite uneven. But our van full, enjoyed it immensely.

We just had a beautiful family night out at the Port Hope Drive-in. Only 35min drive from Oshawa. This place really brought back some memories for me as a kid, and it's great I was able to share this with my little girl. I don't often take the time to write a review, but felt the need after reading some of the negative reviews I've seen. This place is all about creating memories with loved one. Whether it's with your girlfriend/wife/partner (date night) or bringing the whole family. The price it cost me to go see one movie at the local theater with one person for one movie. I was able to take the entire family, for two movies, in the comfort of my own vehicle. If you go to the Port Hope Drive-in with this in mind. I promise you, you will have a blast. People will always find something negative if you go looking. But what do you expect from a small business, out in the middle of a Feild. Being out in the elements wears things a lot more, compared to a in door theatre. Final thoughts. If you're concerned about paying a boosting fee, make sure you have a decent battery/vehicle. A well maintained vehicle/battery shouldn't have a issue running auxiliary power for 2 hours. Or start your car every so often. We didn't have any issues. Remember this is a small business trying to STAY in business, so they can continue giving it's customers great memories. I'm sure the property tax, hydro, employees,food cost and studio Fess make it extremely difficult to stay afloat. So buy that extra popcorn, pop, ice cream or hotdog with the thought that it's helping to keep the doors open so maybe your kids might be able to experience this with their kids or Grand kids. If you go there with all of this in mind, and don't concern yourself with the paint on the concession, the extra few bucks for food/services, or the wear and tear of a outdoor washroom. And just take in the atmosphere of sitting in the comfort of your vehicle, under the night sky, enjoying 2 movies for the price of one with loved ones. You will have a 5-star experience and memories that will be well worth any amount of money.

???? PORT HOPE DRIVE IN ~ a fantastic night out! It's definitely a great & inexpensive form of entertainment. Drive In's are disappearing; having less than 40, remain in ALL of Canada. They were first introduced in the early 1930's, and (sadly) very few exist today. Let's continue supporting this local attraction, while we still can. It's a wonderful way to spend an evening out with, your friends, family, or for a "date night!" ☀ Tip ~ remember to bring insect repellent!

This is where you want to go when you dont want to watch a movie inside. It's great when people line up and not just try and cut in from the other way. The Screen was nice, big and clear. Staff were real nice. Admission was cheap. Lots of room. Even if a bigger car/truck moves in front. Theres big enough spaces for you to move your car to avoid theirs. Will be going back for as long as they stay open. 5 star

This is a great place to take your kids. It's a whole different experience then being in a movie theater, only one screen here so as long as both movies aren't too bad too watch then you won't mind sitting through both, price is better than sitting in a theater. Great way to end the day if your out this way at all

I really really want to give this place a better rating because we love the drive in experience. However this particular place fails almost every time with their poor attitude. Tonight we came and there was a bit line up to get in, the movie had started and they only had one guy running the entry ticket booth. Took 25 mins to get in the place. It’s gone up 2.50 per person since last year but that is not an issue really. The washrooms really could use some attention even a broom to sweep the cobwebs and spiders away. Tonight is started spitting with rain which the weather channel said wasn’t going to start til 2am so I asked the dippy girl at the concession stand if they offer vouchers or anything if we get rained out and she repeated a well versed answer of ‘we run rain or not’ and no empathy at all. Of course they do, they’re inside, not trying to watch a movie from their car. I guess a sympathetic ‘Gosh no... sorry’ would go a lot further but I have found over the years of coming here that the staff are indignant whenever you ask any questions. They are so defensive rather than politely responding to questions. So great experience but terrible customer service.

Pretty good movie selection most of the time. During Covid-19 they didn't have great options for small children, but they did change their concessions so that it is brought right to your car. 2 or 3 movies for a great price and kids 5 and under are free.

No wonder these places are going out of buisness , i was asked to pop my trunk, open my glove box looking for outside food, a complete violation of privacy, also during our movie a security guy shined a light in our window because he thot the the food we were eating was from home, not for alcohol not for drugs or weapons for out side food, maybe if this place is going to extreme lengths to make people buy food from their consesions stands because they are relying on that for buisness then maybe they should charge more for the movie and let people bring in food from outside because being searched at the gate and having my movie disturbed because of this, is not worth it no wonder bootlegging movies is so popular, even the actual movie theatres dont even search my bag, i wont be back here

My first drive inn experience tonight was just as wonderful as I had always imagined! I miss movie theatres, but this was better. Comfy in our own cars but all unified, dancing in our seats to Footloose. It was beautiful! All the staff were extremely welcoming. Loved the system of ordering food, those were some of the best chicken fingers I’ve ever had. Definitely going to do my best to become a regular. Thank you all at the Port Hope Drive Inn who work hard to give everyone such an amazing experience! We appreciate you all.

Great place to go out on a date! I only have two complaints: my wife and I ordered a hot dog each, and it took them nearly half an hour to make (which did in fact cut into a good twenty minutes of the film). The other issue that I had was that during the film, my car battery died. I found out the hard way that they have a predatory business model of charging movie goers to rent a radio and to have to pay for a boost. We were lucky enough to be on a double date, so we were able to sit in our friends car for the rest of the show... and a random stranger happened to be walking around with his own battery jumper unit helping out folks like me! I understand that there is money to be made there... but I think of a situation like this as being akin to charging people to use the washroom. All in all, it's a great place and most people are unlikely to experience these scenarios, but a free boost and radio, and a hot dog that cooked in 5 minutes would have probably gotten a 5 star rating for me.

LOVE that there is still a drive-in around! The front gate can be slow, depending on when you go and same with the snack bar. Make sure you bring cash to the front gate or they keep your driver's license while you go to the ATM at the snack bar.

Very reasonable prices. $10 per person and Sundays is $15 a car full. You see two movies for that price, amazing deal. Smaller cars have reserved spots the first three rows so no tall truck will obstruct your view. Concession stand is cheaper than the movie theaters. Lots to choose from. Make sure you purchase from it as it states that this is where they make their money and keeps them open. Very nostalgic!

Really enjoyed the experience, as I haven't been to a drivein in 30 years. The only problem is the abundance of other drivers who can't follow simple instructions. The screen gets washed out for 2-3 minutes 10-12 times through the movie because people keep turning their head lights on...

Great price for two movies, nice atmosphere, don't eat the popcorn! We were very ill for remainder of movie, had to leave. Throwing up... don't eat it. Sick the second day. Popcorn also had a funny taste to it. we added the butter, it was the butter that made it taste funny I think. I do t recommend eating the popcorn, or maybe just don't get butter on it. Overall if we had not been sick from the weird popcorn taste. I would have given 4 stars.

Experience was great. Bathrooms were updated so the sinks are no-touch since the pandemic, movie quality was good. Only couple issues were that the radio station crackled a bit over the course of the movie and that they made a mistake on our food order.

We are just coming home from port hope drive in where are car battery died and the staff member said dont worry about calling caa he would do it for 10 bucks. The port hope drive website says 5 bucks for a staff assistant to boost guest. So we said we will wait for caa. He then said he would lock us in the lot and we would get towed. We had to call the police. Then when the we hung up and the OPP was on route he boosted us for free. Very poor human interaction and poor choice of characters running that place. Go anywhere else but here. Dont like shady business like that.

Great place! The screen is super neat, no audio issues and the staff is super kind. Food was really good and at a reasonable price. We had 1 small poutine, a large popcorn and 2 pops for $20. If you go, PLEASE, remember NOT to turn on your headlights during the movie. We had a couple of those last night. If you are thinking about date ideas, or a nice time with your family or friends, this is the place to go. Even if you drive for an hour (like we did) you won't regret it!

Took my son to his first drive-in and he loved it! Its dated, but it's a drive-in so it's expected to be old! Grounds are clean and maintained. Plenty of parking, staff are super friendly and strict on their rules to ensure everyone enjoys the show.

Show some recent movies. I grew up going to this drive in when they used to spend some money on newer movies, it's a shame to see a golden opportunity for a drive in to do really well only to have whoever is managing this "business" to squander it. Would have given this place a 4 or 5 a decade ago, has been a joke for the last several years.

Awesome, to be out for the shows. They are showing classics, which really fun watching movies on the big screen that I was too young to see. On thing I would suggest, is to seting up some bug screens for the car windows, as the mosquitoes don't go away when it is 20+ degrees.

They provide good service and if u want u can rent a radio instead of using ur car battery which is what I did. Only issue is the bathrooms are never cleaned, I went to use it and there was a huge spider web which had dozens of bugs in it

Went last night, had an amazing experience! Food was a little expensive, but with the price of the two movies being so low it was well worth buying food! For 45 dollars my husband and I saw two movies and had a meal delivered to our car. 100% will come again!

What a fantastic night we had, let me tell you all!!! Lawn chair, blankets, BUG SPRAY****, friends and family! Man, you will feel like you won the lottery! We had chicken fingers, poutine, popcorn, hot dog and nachos it was all very good, surprisingly Good! We will absolutely be back! Highly recommend! ****mandatory that you bring bug spray. I gotta be honest some of those mosquitos are so big they will take your eye out :-) Don't forget the spray!!! Dryer sheets help too, they hate the smell!

We hadn't been to this drive-in in years and now I remember why. The screen was in good condition but the concession was not clean. The ladies washroom was disgusting and only 2 stalls were working. Forget trying to stand in line during intermission. We had to miss part of the movie to use the washroom. I think port-a-potties would have been better We would have enjoyed the movies better if it wasn't for so many people with headlights or brake lights on.

Honestly getting really sick and tired this is the best drive in. Great prices for the movies and the food and snacks, staff is awesome but honestly sucks that the same movie is played weekend after weekend and this month alone suicide squad has been played 3 weeks in a row. I would go to this drive in every week but we drive a distance and I really don't want to see the same movie over and over. Might have to start trying the Lindsay drive in instead. Just sad as I have been going to port hope drive in for over 10 years just can't take it any more.
