To this day this business has a score of 3.7 over 5 and the rating was based on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that the average of ratings that it reaches is positive, and it's based on a very large number of opinions, so we can think that the rating is very accurate. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the service, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to put reviews when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Movie Theater is included in the category of Movie theater.
Best there is in town, because it's all there is in town.
Relaxing.
If you can't be at the cinema you love, love the one your at.
Very much in need of some updates. The manager there is consistently extremely rude to the staff and was horrible to a customer in front of us the other day. Most of the staff seem incredibly unhappy with their jobs and there seems to be a high rate of turnover for good staff members. Movies/previews often start late. The manager spoke negatively about competitors and other local businesses to my wife. At those prices, it's worth driving to a higher quality establishment. But they're sufficient for a quick date, as long as you're not worried about impressing the other person.
"New look, new experiences!"
Great place. I hid a bike in here and no one said anything
Low grade high priced
Overpriced food, worst comercials ever, terrible quality. Id rather drive to Burlington than pay a dime here.
Small town theater. Great staff. Good movie selections.
Perfectly fine small-town movie theater. Staff are great, seats are fairly comfortable. Because it's small, it doesn't always show a wide variety of movies.
Classic movie theater. 3 screens fair priced concession and tickets.
Fun little theater. Sound does not bleed through from other movies in the building.
I understand it's a small town movie theater. So this review is service based. I showed up 10 minutes before my movie start of the 645 jumanji and had only 4 people ahead of me by the time I was able to purchase a ticket the movie had already been running for ten minutes. So I just said no. On top of that I seen the cashier belittle some man in front of me for his card not working.
Awesome
We just saw the new Thor movie last night. The movie was great. But we were one of the first people there. The floor was sticky and I saw left over cups on other seats. Where we were seeting the arm rests were broken. We we're sitting in the back and all we heard was a very load beeping sound coming from the popcorn stand and they didn't turn it off!
The chairs are falling apart, there is literally mold and dust caked on the walls and ceiling. It's so gross
Good experience
Remodels look nice.
Making a turn around but the seats are still rather uncomfortable. Given we can watch from the comfort of our home furniture expectations for being comfortable while watching the latest blockbuster is quiet high. Keep up the effort.
$5 movies on Tuesdays us a great deal!
It's just like any other island theater. It's old and run down, but it's full of memories. XD
Not bad the picture and sound quality was good however the theater is in need of refurbishing the air vents and surrounding tile were covered in dirt many of the ceiling tiles had water damage indicating that there might be mold or other problems for people with health issues.
This is an old movie theater but it's been updated and it looks a lot nicer than it did last year. About the only complaint I have is the way the consession stand is run. It's not very efficient. …
Uncomfortable :( But not many options here.
Cute little theater. Not very crowded like most.
Prices are horrible the staff not very engaging the movie theater is questionable at best looks like a strip mall and doesn't really give you the movie theater feel
Great home town theater!
A little better since the renovation. Not bad if you don't have time to go to a bigger theater
Popcorn could stand some inprovement
New management making great changes. I was there in mid August 2019 and they have updated a lot of the concessions equipment and new seating is on the way in the next few weeks. I'm excited to see how much more they improve. The staff was very friendly that night too, though I don't think that has ever been a problem in the past.
I dropped my super small popcorn at a field trip there ;-;
Great popcorn and prices. Never busy and friendly staff. Dated but if you are not wanting the long drive to a larger cinema Oak Harbor Cinema is a good little small town cinema.
It really does feel like a mom and pop movie theater, a blast from the past. Can't beat it!
So cool!
This place would be honestly better if they update their equipment and played more movies and or better movies
Not very clean or modern.
Great place nice employees could work on appearances some
Since only theater in town limits options on where to go watch a movie. Theater if old and outdated. Seats are uncomfortable and not stadium seating like modern theaters. Price was ok for matinee. Staff was friendly and courteous.
Really small and out dated
Excellent popcorn except for far too salty, sizes seem small for price. Seats ok, sound good. Bathroom clean.
For what it is in a small town amd for those military folk who do not want to watch on base or drive an hour, it does its job. Staff is nice, theatre has its bare minimums for food&drinks which is fine honestly, the seats itself are all on the side with an open path down the middle so dont expect to find a "middle" seat.
They do a great job here. The theater is always clean and the staff is friendly. It’s. Good place to see a movie
This place needs to update ! The chairs are very run down and some broken and very uncomfortable !
Could be better maintained. 3 theater's
We love going to Oak Harbor Cinemas! Never a crowd, super friendly staff and they play all the first run movies! It's great!
Loved The Movie AND your cinema is the one I always go to Loved it
So much better than before. Loved the recliner seats! The old yucky smell is gone and everything is super clean!
The oak harbor Cinema they haven't fixed up really nice now the reserve seating was spectacular it was very very comfortable you were able to recline the picture was spectacular as well as the sound was spectacular for the reserve that …
Wonderful CS and very polite. Speakers could be fixed so the action is not coming from behind you but other than that very pleased.
Went there yesterday for the first time. Got there a couple minutes late so was trying to find a seat in the dark during the previews. The seat I chose was broken and when I sat in it it felt like I was going to fall on the floor. I had bought a Medium Popcorn and it tasted funny. I think either the butter or the oil they used was rancid. Great Movie... very unpleasant experience.
Great theater for a small town. Good prices.
It's been awaile
Small but nice
Great staff. Theater was small but cozy.
They put no money into improvements and more than once the projectors have broke and we missed movies. Once was for the anniversary showing of Breakfast club. Paid a sitter. Planned a head. They were rude about it too.
Old and small, three screens
Star Wars was great ????
Okay. The staff are nice but the cinema in general needs improvement bc I'm tired of my feet sticking to the floor every time I watch a movie. Smh.
Need more comfortable seats.
Thank you for caring. This is a place I gave a 1 star review because of how horrid it was, but they …
If you are looking for quality movie time, then go somewhere else. The seats my son and I sat on were super queeky so if you moved the slightest bit it would let out noise durong the movie.
Fun place to see a movie... a little pricy for the best seats but i have seen more in LA and New York. Clean, a little older, but still a keeper
$5 Tuesdays was exactly what this place needed. No frills movie theater still undergoing renovations so it isnt the prettiest (yet). But what they lack in looks they make up for in staff. Very friendly helpful people behind the counter that were patient with my grandma (who gets confused easily from illness). Little pricey on the snacks (what theater isnt?) and the snackbar closes like an hour before the movie ends which is weird. Still, for $5 on Tuesdays? Great experience.
Needs new clean seats also the speakers suck. But good friendly staff, you can also buy movie posters which is awesome
I saw Midway
Good value and good customer service. Small theatres and therefore less noises.
I LOVE that they have 10am showings on Saturdays! Just saw the Incredibles 2. I recommend the 5th or 6th row if you want full immersion.
For a dirty and dingy it was and how every time somebody open the door you can see the light on the screen it cost way too much money
An okay theater for the area, but really needs an update. Actually needs a full renovation, from concession to sound system.
Since the old owners took back over, they have made a lot of positive changes. The box office and concession areas look better and are better staffed. The addition of beer and wine is a welcome addition. Just waiting on the new seating and a general cleaning of the theater areas.
Prices are decent, clean but seats were very uncomfortable. I was wearing shorts and the ripped leather kept scratching my legs.
Great little dive movie place , it's kinda "old home town " of a movie place , you expect a $5 late show lol but it's also friendly and good popcorn lots of space, and even the guests make sure to not b rude it's family night at it's best !
It's what you expect an old cinema to be. Seats are comfortable and lean back, but it's not a 'high end' experience. You're there to watch a movie in the dark.
I really wanted to give this place more stars. I love that it is an older theater, very old school, and I felt like I stepped back in time to my high school days. The big problem I had was the sound. I could hear the explosions and everything just fine but it was dialogue that was very difficult to understand. I was watching the movie First Man and basically left 2/3 of the way through because I couldn't understand a word they were saying. Someone needs to EQ that sound system so dialogue can be understood.
Good little theatre. Concessions are expensive but that's to be expected. I've seen dozens of movies here and never been very crowded.
On employee to run tickets and snackbar, with 2 popular movies playing on a Sunday night. She did great but should have been another person to help! This theater is showing its age.
Comfortable seats, spacious, and friendly service.
Finally. It's almost like a new theatre! Serving liquor (at selected showings), and new seating (well, used, but in new condition), which are not falling apart!! Including "VIP" recliners, for extra $5 per ticket. We went to an afternoon …
My hometown theater looking a little ragged around the edges. They could use a seat upgrade for sure. Great popcorn though!
While the staff were very friendly it was a complete mess inside. There is construction going on and you could hear it during the movie.
Older theater but still nice to have in town. Lots of neat special features that show too.
Great staff...very friendly, BUT the cinema needs a major update, more of the stadium seating, bigger restrooms, and a few more theaters and more updates thru out
Really needs updated. They never replace the digital projector bulbs so picture is always too dim and never bright or sharp. Went to see infinity war and could barely see details in darker scenes The seats are narrow, falling apart, many are broken and they are very uncomfortable for someone older with arthritis, or back and leg issues, or who is just large. Sound system is good depending on where you sit. They are barely staffed except on sneak preview/premier nights. The concessions are very overpriced considering how little they put into comfort or quality of the theater.
Popcorn : ( concessions are overpriced and as soon as the movie is over the lights come on and doors open, ending the movie experience. Can I please read the credits or at least have some solace.
Love the VIP seating, makes movies more enjoyable.
The only theater in town. Just average not bad but not spectacular. I go here because it only takes 5 minutes to get here.
They have worked very hard to upgrade this cinema. They have replaced all the seating, thank God! They now have nice solid seating plus recliners. The popcorn is excellent the staff is friendly and we love the owners. All we ask is that you come and support this small town theatre and keep a open!
Good moives good prices a little small tho
So much fun watching the classics
Very out dated. The seats are horrible!!!! And with how much they charge people, they should be able to get new seats.. ***since new owners, i haven't had a chance to go. Most likely will change review after. So changing it to 4 starts***
Newly remodeled and updated. Nice, clean, low key, affordable. Enjoyed it a lot. Nice chairs replace the old worn out ones. Recommended.
Small, but improving all the time - had new seats when we visited today! Staff is very friendly and the price is fair for a cinema :)
For a small town cinema, this place has it all. Up to date, current movies as well as classics for reasonable prices. Concession is pricey, but what cinema isn't? Home town feel.
Is very good to be a small and old movie theater, I pay about 20 dollar for two tickets on Monday, and another 20 dollars for the combo, large popcorn and large soda, isn't crazy??!! I think is a little pricey, The chairs are old but are moderately comfortable, the service is exceptional, the girls in the counter are very sweet, I really enjoy my movie, is a little pricey but I like to support local business. Give it a try!????
Endgame
First time here, not bad. It will be better after they putting in the rest of the new seats.
Looking very nice up dated front end and new sets in cinemas.
This small, recently updated theater boasts two screens with several rows of VIP upgrade chairs that are super cushy and allow you to recline and kick your feet up while still enjoying a great view. …
Convenient is the word to describe it. I cant say more. If you're looking for a good theater with a lot of option, look somewhere else.
Just need to upgrade seats then would be 5 star.
Older theatre, rough screens, uncomfortable chairs, inattentive staff.
freakin awesome. Really quaint and old. I loved it. Great atmosphere. Concession stand, cheap prices, friendly staff.
Nice little home town theater. Military friendly, great popcorn, comfortable seats, and pleasant staff. ☺
Went to see F9. I'm gets extra points for having air-conditioning.
I went and saw the movie Black Panthers is was great. The place was clean and the popcorn was fresh. The price on the food could use some looking into.
I went there for the first time in a long time a few weeks ago. I like all the updates that took place and the seating is a lot nicer
Only theater in Oak Harbor besides the drive through
A bit better then expected, looks very small from the outside but the screen is not to bad.
It's a local theater, slightly old, a bit run down. It is being remodeled, though, so I'll have to check back soon. They show first run movies, and actually recently started to serve beer -- good things. I use the term "serve" a little loosely... I think the bartender is still learning how to get the beer into the cup without over filling it. I'm avoiding all the obvious jokes here; let's just say it finally all came out ok and without a lot of....well, foam.
Bumped my review up to five stars because they are putting in the effort to improve the theater for customers. Looking forward to seeing the changes.
It's in dire need of a remodel. But the movie was ????, also seemed expensive.
For a tiny, tiny theater it was a fun experience all around.
New chairs, excellent sound, not too loud like other theaters, good selection of munchies, staff is friendly, very much like home.
Just go out of town. Or go to the drive in :)
A decent theater in need of some renovations...
A standard small town theater reasonable pricing for movies and snacks even some collectable items for the ones that like to do that.
The floors were sticky majority of the seats were torn the sound was terrible
Not bad at all the staff was great my only complaint was that I could constantly hear the popcorn machine during the movie and the extremely squeaky chair
Great place for a movie or a date with good snacks and drinks plus a good movie selection!
Quaint older cinema.
Nice staff, Good seats and decent prices. Appearance could use a little work.
Great place for movies, snacks are pricey to support the theater. Comfortable and usually not crowded.
slow service but only real choice in Oak Harbor
Employees were rude, we were trying to get our popcorn and soda (we had a small group) and an employee came out and was like “you’re going to miss the movie!” as if we didn’t already know the movie was staring soon. Did not like that they weren’t patient and were rude.
Tickets are a good price, especially on Tuesdays and before 6, just eat somewhere else either before or after the movie. Last I checked, concessions for a small popcorn and a water bottle is 9$.
I enjoyed this theatre. Popcorn was good. Price was better.
The theater is older, and like many places in Oak Harbor, does need an upgrade. However, every ptime I’ve seen a movie here, the movie quality has been great and the seats are standard movie-theater seats. Popcorn is always fresh and prices are fair, considering that most theaters only make money from concessions and not the actual ticket sales. Never had any problems here and even when only one person has been working, that employee was quick and gracious!
I like this theatre because its my local theatre and the sound system is pretty good. Seat are usually very comfy. My one complaint is that the popcorn isn't so good. I wish it was better because popcorn os pretty essential for a movie. Other than that I think its a GREAT spot to go!
This sad little theater continues to degrade with time. This week they had mechanical issues with food machines so again not everything was available. The theaters are outdated, marginally cleaned, with sticky floors and water stained ceiling tiles and bathrooms that make you wish for levitation skills. This place needs (has needed for years) a major overhaul and the owners are just unwilling to offer its few remaining dedicated patrons a satisfactory experience.
Out was ok. Rather messy and rather small, but the staff was friendly and the seats went the worst.
Not clean, outdated, but whaddya gonna do?
I saw Prometheus in this theatre after not being there for (dare I admit) decades. Frankly, IMO the establishment could use some updating -- more than what's available at the concession stand. The seating was comfortable and provided plenty of leg-room, and I didn't mind that it was a little old. The foyer and theatre seemed to need some touching-up -- a paint job, that sort of thing ... just a little polishing. The audio of the film was hard to hear -- it was unclear, which is unfortunate when seeing a detailed film -- I don't know if this was a matter of the film or the sound system, but I feel I still need to see the film w/ better sound to feel I've 'seen the film'. The staff was kind both as we arrived and friendly & engaging as we left. The experience of getting out was nice, but the atmosphere & film viewing left a few things to be desired.
Good theater making it better all the time with upgrades.
If you want to go back in time, this place is for you. If you want uncomfortable seats and 2 movies to choose from you will like it as well. I didn't.
I thoroughly enjoy the updated movie theater. The reclining seats are fantastic and the concessions are great
You are on the right track. We have been long time fans of our local cinema, but lately have been going off-island to have beer/wine/prosecco with the movie (Prosecco and popcorn is the bomb). We went to OHC the other day and were pleased with the improvements- one big deficit though- WAY too many IPAs on the menu. Where is the love for Porters, Stouts, Reds, etc? Major points for having a Hellbent choice, but their Moontower Stout is far superior to the IPA you chose. So, diversify your beer options, maybe get splits of Prosecco and we’ll be there all the time.
Great place, just need cleaning in bathroom more often. I wish prices on movies hadn't gone up so much. And prices and choices of concession food has gone up in price and down in value.
Small town theatre, can't expect much from it.
Prices are kind of high but always new releases
The upgrades have been incredible. Very clean, very modern, very comfortable and the staff is fantastic.
The movie was great (the new Star Wars). The theatre is typical of a small town theater. Half the chairs are comfy high backs & the other half are possibly the original chairs. They've remodeled in recent years, so it's much nicer than it …
I like this cinema. It's not a fancy new theater with 30 screens but why would it be? It's small town theater. Full stop. The building is a little oldish but that's no one's fault but the people who invented time. Seats are comfy and the concession isn't any higher than any other theaters. In fact, they're probably a little lower. Never had a problem with rude staff here either. Seems like a lot of the reviews on here are really petty.
The worst movie theater I have ever been to
enjoy the movie and friendly and helful staff.
no paper towels, diry bathrooms
Very friendly staff, good visual, a little quiet but overall not bad. Had a great time!
It was clean and got military discount
Watch Hobb and Shaw movie. It was a great movie
Very good movie, good staff.
This place has been okayish for the 10 years I've lived here but after last night I really needed to let people know what to expect! I can't speak for the entire staff but the two gals who served my family were not polite. They were bickering the entire time about how one of them messed up some paperwork that day. We had a Groupon and it is VERY obvious that Groupon users are not welcome. I thought we were receiving bad service before I mentioned the Groupon, but the way we were treated after was so much worse! We get through our tickets and concessions without me screaming at these women to be nice to my family (amazingly). FYI - while the seasonings use to be free, if you want ANYTHING besides salt on popcorn, it's an add'l $2 now. We get seated and watch the previews. Literally, literally the SECOND the actual movie starts, the audio cuts out 100%. We waited a few seconds but I got up to tell the same rude gals about the problem, and did not get any kind of apology, just "I'll deal with it." Ma'am, I understand you're busy, but I have NEVER been so busy I didn't have time for manners. Another minute or two goes by - I would say the first 3 to 5 minutes of the movie were complete silence. We asked if there was any way to restart it or do something, but instead, the audio was fixed and that was it. No apology from anyone on staff. I get that anymore staff are trained NOT to say sorry because it opens the door to complaints, but I and my family just really felt like these women were being rude and unhelpful because it's fun for them. People like that should not be running customer service but that's just my opinion! All in all, I could not be happier that in 2 weeks my family will be in a new city and we'll never have to come back here again! The 3 stars is only because easy parking, and the popcorn and soda were actually pretty good - although maybe it was because of that $2 seasoning....
Their website posts inaccurate movie show times due to a company switch I guess. My family and I showed up to watch secret life of pets 2 which allegedly began at 2pm, but we were told it begins at 3:30. The girl working was very sweet and friendly, but she appeared to be working alone, poor thing. Movie started late, due to clear understaffing, place is rundown and kinda grimy. But it's all oak harbor has unfortunately....
Only sit-in theater in oak harbor so you're pretty much stuck at this point besides the drive in. Prices were high for such a tiny theater. Matinee prices were still over 10 dollars. Food was alright. Would rather drive 30 to 45 minutes into Burlington to a good theater.
I quite enjoyed my movie - the staff was perfectly friendly, my seat was comfortable, and the show was good. After any number of places that subject me to 5 minutes of advertisements it was refreshing to have previews, the movie, and nothing else.
New seat omg ........
Clean. Professional staff. Love love love 5$ Tuesdays. Love the addition of glass pours of wine and beer.
Still need to update the seating but much improved
I went to watch a movie tonight with my husband and grandaughter, and I was going to use my birthday buy one ticket get one free ticket and my free med popcorn since tonight is the deadline to use them, so I showed it to the cashier on my phone and she tells me that I can't use it because I should print it out because she has no idea if that has been used before because people could use it more than one time, she said that she didn't know if the email states that but it should so she said she wasn't going to let me use them, so we paid for something I shouldn't have had to. How do they know if I or anyone else owns a printer.
Theater is run down. Water stains on ceiling, projector is crooked. Only one person working counter most days. Takes awhile to get ticket, then get back in line and see same person for popcorn. Theater is likely cutting cost to stay in business or owner is cheap beyond reason.
Excellent customer service! Older building, but theaters were very clean. Visibility is great from every seat, sound is incredible and screens are at a comfortable level. Nice variety of snacks and beverages. Very pleased overall with facility and employees.
Expensive.
They are pretty good here. They offer $5 Tuesdays so that's nice. They're also installing new chairs to replace the old beat up chairs which is a welcome upgrade. This movie theater is overall pretty good.
This is my hometown theatre since 1994. So nice to have a clean comfortable place to view first run movies that must be seen on the big screen!
Benn coming to this theater my whole life, and honestly it looks better than ever! Great job on the remodel. Yummy snacks and the customer service was great and friendly.
Wish they would Renovate; really needs makeover. Does not offer 3D movies. Only theater in town...really could be great but us NOT. Usually understaffed and a line. Really needs improvement
Landed on $5.00 Tuesday! I didn't know all movies would only be $5, Nice little complex of theaters for the local community.
Went to see Wrinkle in Time recently, and had the following experience: Very easy parking, right up front. Only 4 other people in the whole theater with us. Total bill for one adult, one child: $20, popcorn and water: $12. So--was that a $32 experience? No. The audio had me wondering for a minute if it was time for hearing aids....I wondered if it was the movie, but it seems this is also found in other reviews. So, the good news is that I'm not going deaf, but the bad news is that I missed a bunch of dialogue in the movie. Seats are rickety, floors are a touch sticky. Staff seemed to be hoping a fairy godmother would just come and rescue her from this place, and I can't really blame her. It was kind of sad. And--the popcorn was so salty we gave up eating it. Who even pre-salts popcorn these days, though? My lips are still salt-puckered as I write this. Moviegoers in this region are kind of trapped with this being the game in town, so why not at least update a few things and fix the broken ones? It could be a pleasant charming little theater--it really could.
3 Stars because it needs a major remodel and more movies and show times.
Nice & clean. Fantastic seating. Definately see more movies there.
Love that they had booster seats for kids to sit in the theater
Older theater that needs updating with chairs but runs the latest movies.
Good indoor place to watch a movie
Seems expensive and the seats are not very comfortable
Saw IT on 9/21 6:35 showing. Two women behind the counter preferred to speak to each other even while staring at people who wanted to purchase. When they did finally respond they were EXTREMELY rude. What makes it worse is one of the women might be the manager, she had the attitude of a rude manager. The movie had no sound and three different people went out to tell them before they finally fixed it. And then they didn't start the movie over. This location has always been icky but it's our only theatre.
Love this place. Really enjoyed our time here.
Needs a bit of an upgrade but a great experience
Our first time visiting the Oak Harbor Cinemas. The movie was great but the experience not so much so. The place smelled like the back seat of my grandparent's old sedan. The seating was very uncomfortable and in fact both my daughter and wife were sore before the movie was over. For me the kicker was the audio quality. The sound track was not aligned with movie. Don't know if it was electronic delay or projector set up but whatever the cause it was very distracting. All that said, it was a first run movie at a discounted price so you get what pay for.
It’s sad to write this as we have gone here since the early 1980’s. I just want to express the disappointment from Saturday’s experience. I paid $27 for 3 people. I’m glad we went early to a matinee. I’d hate to pay an evening price. No way was I paying $17 for popcorn and drinks and a token candy. Had to move 5 times to find a seat that wasn’t broken or squeaky . It seems only the 2 front speakers made any sound the other four were broken I guess. Tripping over the duct tape holding down the floor lights was an extra treat as well as the sticky floor . The bathrooms smell like pee, they need a remodel from this century . I really enjoy having to wash the bottoms of my shoes after a movie.
The best of the island.
The seating is crowded but good amount of parking, tons of different discounts, friendly staff, clean and fair pricing. Down side is its not pretty to look at it and the toilets break kinda often.
The new reclining seats are awesome
Love the Cinebar now open to get wine and beer! Will be back soon!
Employees were terribly rude talked to my grandfather like he was stupid while we waited to get popcorn and a soda
It is an old dirty place. Filthly and delapedated...but that is good cuz the more peeps don not like the place...the beda for me and my peeps. The place is always empty!!!! Popcorn is AWESOME!!!!!!!!
Nice little theatre to catch a movie ????
This theater is very small town, but that is it's charm. Very friendly attendants. Good snack and drinks. The best on the island!!
OK, let's be fair here, this a small theater, serving a small community. They show first run movies at a fair price. The consessions are a bit overpriced... but isn't that usually the case? The place deserves maybe another half star, for effort. But it is an old building, some of the seats are worn and broken, and the screens are not huge, and the sound system isn't the latest and greatest. It is a triplex, so there is more than one movie. And as I mentioned, they do try.
