Quality of screens and sound system is not equal to Cineplex standards. Movies released here is never released in Cineplex. Why ? Is it because of movie distributors or the theatre owners? They are not chain wherever you live in GTA, You have to drive to this place to watch Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam movies. York cinemas should renovate to improve their standards to screen big movies like 2.0, Bahubali, Tik Tik Tik etc... Cost of tickets should be reduced for current standards.

Far from downtown Toronto but it's a good multiplex which plays Indian movies and more of Tamil movies. There screens are okay but now comparable to ceniplex but okay. There has a small eatery next to this place. The other associated cinemas are Woodside and Albion. So depending on your location choose the cinemas.

Customer Service is not what you expect at this place! To start off they said they accept cash only at the ticket counter. So we had to use the third party machine they have there and pay the service charges. We happened to buy peanuts for snack n costed $2 for less than a $25grm pack which were reeking old oil like. There was a man pretending to be a manager there n he tries to over manage things and tries to manage the guests as well ???????????? Anyways I will only go here if the Indian movies r not playing anywhere else but here.

Decent Indian cinema. We usually catch the late shows here so the front always looks like nobody is there because everybody (probably only 2 staff members) are both upstairs. Parking is a bit difficult. If you are hard of hearing, you can rest easy and forget your hearing aide at home. The speakers work a little too well. Bring your sweater. #wethenorth #butweneedheat

York conemas is a very good place for people who want to watch regional movies like Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada etc. There are other international movies also. Cineplex doesn't screen regional movies and York Cinemas comes like a blessing for all the regional movie lovers. Place is good for movie watching, although the screen size is small compared to the Cineplex AVX. But something is better than nothing. I liked the theater and the facilities. Good place to enjoy with your family. I have read reviews which complain about the food at this place. I recommend you to eat out before you enter the cinema. There is a place called Bhai's Indian canteen which is just few meters away. I know there are few imperfections with this place like they didn't accept a debit card for purchase of tickets, although there is an atm inside the facility.

The theatre is okay. I find the seats are only comfortable for the first hour or so, and then they get really uncomfortable fast. This is hard, especially since the films that play here are Indian films and they last at least 3 hours. Some renovations might do the place some good. The location is really good, there are many restaurants around and nearby so people can grab a bite before or after their movie.

It shows 11 or 12.50 and after going there its $18 Not sure if the prices are valid on day 1 and then reduce. suggest to check if this matters , one person okay but a group going and then find $5 more per head , it matters. 2 stars of price variation , else neat and clean maintenance

Been here thrice. finding a parking spot here is the biggest nightmare here. To watch a movie you should arrive 1 hour before at least to park your vehicle and breath in. Of course this happens whenever a popular Indian movie releases. They don't accept card payments if you want to watch a new release from South India region. This is one of the places to watch the south Indian films.

The theater seats have been renovated it's far better than few months ago. This theatre has online booking availability but they charge $1 convenience fee which is very stupid. I love that they have all south indian cinema running but the MAJOR DEFECT IS THE SOUND QUALITY IS EXTREMELY POOR AND HORRIBLE. YOU WILL GET EAR PAIN AFTER WATCHING THE MOVIE. Screen size is small. Even my home projector screen is larger than this movie theater screen. Uncomfortable seats. No numbering on seats. Just guess and sit. Good sound quality. It's just that, just good sound quality doesn't cut it out for me. COVID protocols? what's that?! Overall, won't be returning there.

This theater shows Indian language movies such as Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The seats are not the best comparing to Cineplex Odeon Theatres. This is one of the 2 theatres that play Tamil movies so options are limited. The food are expensive but they have great chai tea, which is only available when it's busy such as the weekend.

York Cinemas in Richmond Hill screens foreign language films, mainly Hindi, Tamil, Russian, etc. Their ticket prices slightly less than Cineplex with similar Tuesday specials. And they like to promote various films and works of other cultures but mainly their own. Even films or work that is outright copies from another artists' work as long as it fits their marketing perspective. Worth seeing for a different perspective. +3

Good theatres, but the staff is very confused. When we called them on the phone, they say that the ticket price is $10. But the regular price is $7. When we went to the actual place, the guy charged $10 again. We said that the price is $7. They don't know the price! Very confused people. Popcorn is expensive.

Chutiya theatre... Anyone who wants to enjoy a soothing and decent movie experience should choose any theatre but not this... We saw robot 2.0 in screen 4 for which the seat ahead of us lied broken in front of our seat... The volume world literally burst your ears... While booking a pop up trigged that seats are allocated as per social distancing but when we went there there was no protocols followed whatsoever. the seats can use a revamp. being the only good cinema theatre they can maintain it well.

York transport stop is walkable, Free parking, on premise food beverages, comfortable seating, well maintained urinals, escalator/lift, ATM facitlities. Tickets for Indy movies are bit pricy but I think nothing to do with theatre management.

The theatre in york area. If you plan to visit this place by transit be prepared coz the services is very less to this route. Most of the recent hindi movies comes here . The south indian movies get released after a week or two once the intial release is done in india. In rare cases or if its a superstar movie it may get same release date that of india

Great movie theatre for hindi and tamil movies. Best days are Tuesdays as they drop their prices. The best times are afternoons in the weekend. The movie theatres here are relatively empty compared to the cineplex everywhere else. The screens are reasonably large and the seating area is also fairly clean (unlike albion cinemas)

People going there after 40 minute commute with family and seniors are going to be upset! Manager was rude to say , "Either watch today for $20 or come back tmoro to pay $10" no answer to why it's not announced anywhere there's special price. We have rights as consumers to know price change too. You can sell for $50 for all I care but give people the right to decide if they want to come. Another time website said it open but it was actually closed on weekdays. Wrong info, bad management and Staff too rude!!

Very expensive on opening days, they charge $20 which is more than even IMAX movies. And sometimes they accept only cash. But for Tamil movies we have no other alternative since Cineplex stopped playing them after a bunch of rogues tore their cinema screens and used pepper spray to deter people, which I strongly believe are supporters of York and Woodside cinemas.

Lots of theaters and it's cheap. The location is great. There are lots of restaurants and a couple bars. They serve food. When you buy your ticket, your seat is reserved so there is no rush or hurry to get to your seat.

The worst service ever... we came 1 hour before the show and booked tickets for 4 people , we came early just to get good seating and they said its first come first serve and after entering the theatre some people start saying that there is seat numbers and everyone started moving around( there were lot of people who didnt know about this like us) Later we complained that we were told it is first come first serve and there were saying it is based on seats .. then we show them the tickets ! For four people they gave seats on 4 different rows!!!!!! And they are blaming us!we wasted our time and as because they dont give any value to the customers we took the refund and left! Never again to this place!

It is good theater for Indian Cinema. Sound and seating is good. I only have one complain that ticketing staff tends to trick you if you are first timer or not bargaining kind of person because of the seating they have. Some of their rows are at same level. If someone is sitting in front of you then you wont be able to see the screen. Always ask for your preferred seating otherwise be ready to sit in the front rows. Screen is smaller compare to Cineplex but works.

Good for Indian movies, but no food. Their nachos are never ready. Ticket counter is always closed, to buy tickets ( only for current show) you need to inside and upstairs at food counter. Good thing is they provide tickets with seat numbers, so need to rush further for seats inside the auditorium. Parking is 5 meters away but free.

You'll only get foreign file here, which is fine if you're into foreign films. The place looks great, it really has an old school mixed with modern feel to it. The food stand is sorta lacking, it looks nasty, and the menu is really limited, also they only accept cash for tickets, food and drinks. All in all, it could have been better

York Cinemas is one of the only places near by where you can watch foreign language movies (Russian, Indian, etc) except Cineplex (they don't show all the movies, only selective). The York Cinema theaters are pretty average but I felt the snacks/food/beverages are expensive for such a place. Their ticket prices are equivalent to as of Cineplex which is kind of strange but when you do not have an option, you should definitely visit this place. Also, there is a great Indian-Chinese Cuisine near by called Hakka 77 which is a great visit every-time I visit York Cinemas.

They’re service sucks, ticket pricing is far too expensive for the service they deliver. Tickets are $23+ which is absurd. They charge you additional fees when you buy tickets online, like what??? They left out scenes in movies before. Food is overpriced and theatre is dirty. They hold seating for people that come at the last minute and give you horrible seats despite other seats being available. The sound quality sucks, don’t go there.

York cinema 4 or five screen the quality of the theatre is so bad. I don't think that voice clarity is meeting the customer expectations. When going to the washrooms the toilets are leaking no tissues and not meet the quality of hygiene level.

Very bad customer service provided at this theatre. I came 10-15 min before the showtime for Uyare 9:30 show. And I got tickets after 10 mins of the showtime. Not because of too much crowd. But because of lack of employees at the cinemas on Friday evening. Hate this theatre now. I was regular customer. But this is unexpectable. Whoever this manager had no respect for it’s customer. After 45 mins delay for this movie. He didn’t even bother to come and respond to the us. We had to deal with one employee for all this matter. Especially after this incident I will never suggest this theatre to anyone.These people are the worst. When they know they hve shows till late night. I don’t understand, why these people don’t keep enough snacks for people at night shows. This is the third time when they have said that they don’t have mutton rolls and said samosas are done for the day And ironically there is never a manager present near the couter to complain about anything going on in this cinemas. Hats off guys for your “incredible service”.????

The theatre giant did confirm that each incident was “localized” to a single auditorium at each location, but won’t say if the theatres evacuated were showing the movie in question at the time, citing an ongoing police investigation. “The safety and security of our guests and employees is our top priority and while each incident was localized to a single auditorium, in an abundance of caution we evacuated each of the theatres entirely,” said Cineplex spokesperson Sarah Van Lange. “Steps were taken immediately that evening to ensure the situation was addressed. We continue to take precautionary measures.” Van Lange said as a precaution, Cineplex has cancelled all remaining screenings of the movie Theri, a Tamil action film released in theatres earlier this month.

Washrooms are clean. Prices are a bit too high. Water fountain is not there anymore lol. Make sure you're hydrated beforehand. Theatre halls are of the small standard. Sound is way too loud, bring something to muffle the sound, like earpuffs. Other people are noisy. Can't be helped though, since not many other theatres have Bollywood films.

A decent place to watch latest indian movies., or rather the only place to watch south indian movies. The place is good overall but the cost of ticket hovers upwards based on the movie and often ends up expensive than the regular cinema joints. The concessions stand can do a better job as the cost of items do not justify the quality or quantity. The music system definitely needs an upgrade in my opinion as it tends to get too loud at times.

Worst theaters in Canada. Woodside Cinemas, Albion Cinemas and York Cinemas. The list of complaints include, poor management, rude customer service, pay cash only for overpriced $30 tickets (no credit or debit cards accepted and no receipt, so distributor can evade taxes and report false figures or $0 to the CRA, HUGE FINANCIAL FRAUD). Everyone should report them to the CRA immediately. Other issues include movies not starting according to schedule, incorrect schedules, shows cancelled without notice, interval breaks between movies longer than usual if the line up at the concession stand is large, stinking theaters, garbage on floor not cleaned, poor seating and audio, small screens, no way to buy online, stand in line pushing each other to buy tickets, distributors sell tickets to known people so you could be there in a line for 30 minutes and find out show is sold out but have people walk in later in large groups and have multiple tickets. I will never go again. I will also never understand why so many people go to these theaters. If a movie is not playing in Cineplex, its better to stay home and wait 3 to 6 months than to overpay and deal with these crappy theaters.

Very comfortable seating and very clean place to go watch Indian Movies. Tkts are cheap too.

What a scam this place has become. We normally come here to watch Tamil movies and the price has always been $12 for adults. But they specifically changed the price for one particular movie and that is Baahubali 2. The prices are just ridiculous! For the hindi version it's $15, Tamil is $20 and Telugu is $25. Why the bloody hell are prices this high for this one movie and why are they different for each language?!We're never going to be watching Tamil movies at this crappy theater.

For such a theatre, the price is high ($15). Even Cineplex is cheaper and yet this one is like your cheapo version in one of the wealthiest area of the GTA. Washroom is small but doesn't seem to be well maintained. Seats are assigned but they don't ask where you want to sit when you buy. Escalator to go up didn't work at the time. Also, the parking situation is not very clear until you do a tour around the area to know you can park in front of the other high rise next to it. For such a theatre, the price should be $10, not $15. Too bad Cineplex and Landmark aren't playing that many Hindi/south Indian movies.

Watched padmavat here! It was a night show at 9.30 . Show was almost full,with pop corn and pop enjoyed the movie to the max.
