decent venue needs better sound dambing on ceiling and in corners
Great venue. I saw Gary Numan and had a good time. Very organised staff. Crappy selection of beer and coolers
Great live music venue.
Solid sound awesome vibe huge lineup of local and big acts.
Extremely sketchy area but decent venue if you don't get mugged.
Love the rickshaw for local metal. Always a great atmosphere.
One of the most quintessential spots in Vancouver. I've seen so many bands here and have made so many memories in the building. It's classic theatre in a nutshell.
Great venue. Crappy area. Be very careful of where you park your cars. Taxi would be best.
Best venue in town for a lot of reasons too many to list. Sure it's in the belly of the beast but it's really not dangerous at all, it rules
Looked after the Covid details but kept the experience very positive last night. Great sound, great people. Polyrhthymics were superb.
Amazing venue with outstanding accoustics and a great sound guy!
Best place to see a punk show. Great vibe and you know that anyone who would risk this neighborhood is really there to see the bands. ????
Best place in town to see metal concerts for a afforadable price. Love the character building itself ♡
Great edgy events here. Always fun. As a performer, the stage is great and the crew are tops. Be ready for a teeny weeny backstage and Gulliver-sized green room. :)
Best metal venue in Vancouver. I saw a lot of bands there. Sound is nice and option to seat is amazing. Owner is really good guy.
Hope next time I visit they would take credit/debit. Otherwise it’s one of my happy place. \../
I love this venue. Fantastic shows, open and easy to move around and great sound. Hastings can get a little wild outside, but otherwise nothing but fun times at the Rickshaw.
Cool funky old theatre in the Chinatown area of Vancouver. My first trip in here was last week for Calexico and I didn't really know what to expect. Surprises were the great sight lines and the elevated speakers. Here goes: …
Best venue in town for Rock and Metal genre shows. Great lighting and sound with slanted floor and fixed seating towards the back of the venue.
I loved the show. The area gets a bit scary during the night.
I like this venue. Good staff and awesome bands
Saw BCDC. Band was good but sound was off. Staff was good
Classic East Van venue - love the combo of seats and dance floor and the angle means everyone has a great view. So much character.
Good bands, great staff, but poor bar and major issues with the street/entrance that have gotten worse recently.
They converted an old movie theatre into a live music venue. Cheap drinks which is nice too.
Boom! Good live music and cool venue. Always worth it.
Nice venue and the staff is friendly. The neighbors... What can you say it is people watching at its best/worst
Love the place, they bring in awesome bands! Great even though it's in a bit of a shady neighborhood...
Came here once to see a show. The neighbourhood is sketchy but the inside is nice with proper theater seating so you can always view the stage. There is a bar in the lobby, and also left of the stage so you don't have to miss your show to get a drink. As a performer, the team was so much more friendly that what I encountered as Celebrities. The stage is big and the tech crew was very professional and helpful.
Small venue with great staff and cool performers.
Awesome place, with some great bands
Best place in Vancouver to Death Metal. Who doesnt love Death Metal! I luv Death Metal!!!
Great little theater to watch concerts in! The staff are very friendly
Awesome venue! Great bands!
This is a great spot to see live music. Theater style venue with a balcony and a few strategically placed bars.
I dig that there's seating because I'm getting old lol last time I went the staff were super friendly and I had a great time :-) Not much for parking though and the surrounding neighbourhood is rough but I've personally never felt unsafe or harassed
Great venue, very large. The toilets need some tlc, they always stink.
I've only once been to the Rickshaw, back in 2014, for a Peter Murphy/Ringo Deathstarr show.
One of the only venues for live metal.
This is an old theatre. Not particularly clean. The 2nd floor where the bathrooms are smells of urine. I don't think this theatre has any air conditioning as it was quite hot. For a smaller low budget production you can work with it. The bathrooms really need some regular cleaning and sanitizing to keep the bad odour in check though.....
Best venue. Can't beat the skuzzy.
Good venue, good event, needs more space by the bar though
Nice place. Good atmosphere. Bad area
This venue is great. The content is great. Definitely my favourite place to catch talent.
Venue itself is quite nice but it is in a sketchy part of town. The stage is elevated and fenced off with a few people standing in between so you get less of an intimate feel as opposed to the Biltmore or the cobalt for example. Sound is good too and there's also seats for people who wanna sit
Wear good shoes, the floor is slightly angled and it gets real slippery with all that beer on the floor :)
Amazing history and stellar gigs that are up close and personal. Also a great place to grab shots when a bunch of Rockers and Punks hang out after a show.
Cool venue, but watch out for the crush of people between the bar in the lobby and the main hall
A great place to see a low dough show
good venue good staff, just plain good
It's cool cuz you can stand and see the bands on the gradual inline but there's no space for conversing except by the beer tables in the front room by the open doors
Love the venue. Neighborhood is a bit sketchy, but once you get there it's great. Seen a lot of terrific bands play there
Hands down the best place in the city for music. Friendly staff, reasonable bar prices.
Decent venue, decent sound. Needs air conditioning.
Watched a jazz concert here. Loved it.
Great place to see a live band. Friendly staff. Be careful of the area though when letting out late. Fairly harmless, but just be aware.
My favourite venue to see a show at. It has a lot of character.
Awesome mid-sized venue. Great place to see your favorite artist up close
Another great live music venue in Vancouver.
The Rickshaw is grungy, loud, and full of beer. It's the place to go to see heavy music in Vancouver. DTES isn't as scary as everyone makes it out to be. The configuration inside is perfect for moshing, standing, OR sitting.
really nice, homey venue & people are friendly
Great venue to see bands.
Nice venue, plenty of good shows go through the doors here. Nice acoustics on the floor and up in the seats.
One of the best venues in Vancouver!
•Cool spot for sure fs
The location and vibe is good. Drink prices are relatively reasonable. Overall, I liked it. However, the layout is a bit strange. I don't quite understand why there are seats on the lower level. Don't know if sitting is an option if …
alot of modern bands play here next to Savoy pub!
Always a good time!! Love this venue!
Almost the last good spot to see live bands. RIP railway.
Punk rock and metal with a wicked seedy crowd in an old Kung Fu theatre in the worst part of town. Priceless.
Fun time. Good people. Bands were great. Had an amazing time.
Metal bands, check. Decent beer (ISA), check. Interesting characters around, check. A water jug on the bar counter to keep u hydrated, check. Will keep going back this place ROCKS! Multiple meets with Chi Pig from SNFU, check!
The place to go for local music. Great staff all music fans
A great authentic place for concerts
A fun place with great gigs of diverse and quality music. Located in East Hastings and Gore and accessible to public transit. You can stand up or sit comfortably watching a concert. The atmosphere there is frirndly and there is a limited variety of drinks.
Polite, pleasant staff. Sadly, the sound is awful. An eye opening experience. No plans of returning.
The best hard rock and metal shows in Vancouver
Decent acoustics, though the vocals are often muddy and difficult to understand. The venue has a decent amount of space, but could do a better job of improving the sound system and reducing reverberations.
Aside from the...less than ideal location, it's actually a pretty nice venue. The floor space is a really good size, and there's also plenty of upstairs seating for anyone who wants to be a bit further away. The vibe fits a metal show really well.
A little cold in winter unless it's a big turnout and the sound system could improve, but it still remains a great musical beacon against the curse of No Fun City.
One of my favorite spots to see a punk show
The Rickshaw is a great feeling and great sounding room. I have seen some awesome performances here.
Old theatre turned into a live venue. I really dig it, good atmosphere despite the sketchy neighbourhood, but sound can be hit or miss. nice big stage though.
This is an epic spot to see live music. We saw the Polyrythmics here and they were great. The venue has just the right amount of grease (if that makes sense) It doesn't hide its age or the fact that it's an old theatre which makes it funky. …
Went to see Cradle of Filth and was highly empressed. By second half they were warmed up and went balls to the wall! My GF is a metalhead so never saw her half the night as she was in the mosh pit. you can get right up to the stage 3 feet from the artist. Yup good times are had by all! I found the acoustics to be pretty damn good, A band can crank hard there and the sound is clean, the bass came through big and rattles the chest. I gotta say the people running the place were super nice. The bar has Red Bull on tap, nice touch. The people in the street are looking for change, a few quarters and their on their way. I would highly recommend this venue as it's a place where a band can go all out.
Great venue for live music! Good sound, proper slant in floor, seats if you want them.
Very active and also eady-going place to go ???? worth the money because the staff treated you like gold ???????? especially the coat/bag area ????????
Great place to see bands. It's a bit run down though, the guys washroom is often flooded.
Never had a bad time at the Rickshaw!
Friendly staff, comfy old seats, good programming
First time there to see Raygun Cowboys. Great venue and had a lot of fun
Really CAN'T give this place more than 3 stars for what it is - poor acoustics, shabby auditorium and lousy bar. But they get great bands constantly. That's what counts.
Very good place for local shows.
I hate this theatre with a passion. The sound is awful, the atmosphere is disgusting. I feel so gross after entering this facility. The only good thing is they opened the upstairs again. I try to avoid seeing any concert here just dread this place.
great venue. good drinks
I go to rickshaw for mostly, metal concerts, and I have a major issue with the sound. Promoters/event managers have to understand that backing lines (specially if its a symphonic/melodic band) cant be even heard anywhere in the theatre. I tried all spots. That is due to the fact that rickshaw has a humble sound system and acoustics when it comes to bands like these. I also dont have the best experiences with the staff there.
Have performed here a few times and love it, great space!
Great venue in Vancouver for Concerts
Bowie Ball, fantastic show featuring 17 band doing Bowie covers.
I didn't get a hand job. Or would have said 5 stars.
How can you not love this place. Great staff, reasonably priced drinks and always the best shows. Sound varies from time to time but mostly it's quite excellent. I've seen so many shows here and I'll continue to do so as they bring in some sick acts!
Great venue for metal or punk shows. As a former Kung Du theatre the sound is great inside and the floor area is large. There's also lots of seating if you get tired of moshing. The venue also offers a bar with lots of beer options.
It may seem sketchy at first, but it's really safe! Especially since it's easy to transit to and from (even late night usually with the 95!) Just like the Vogue Theatre, this place feels authentic and more intimate, and I honestly prefer it …
Lots of great shows happen here, but the place really needs some updating in the bathrooms and just a good cleaning
One of the nicest stages I've gotten to play on
Good live music venue with a dance floor.
The SHOWS in the Venue are amazing. I'm very glad this space exists. It is however exactly what you'd expect a large structure in that area to look, feel and smell like.
Great shows. Awful bathrooms. Cheap beer and shots! It does get muggy from the sweaty moshpit, but thats exactly what one signs up for at the Rickshaw. Good times.
Cheap prices and very good entertainment, but sometimes there are crazy long line ups. If you don't mind waiting you can have a great time.
A great venue for some excellent music.
Attended the 14th annual KFB Christmas party and had a great experience. Staff/Security was very friendly and professional, and the venue sounded great. Covid-19 protocols were in place and I was impressed with how respected they were by everyone attending.
You don't need to find $200+ per ticket to see great talent. You can come here and have a great time for way less..
Big space ok... outside neighborhood not that nice...
A great concert venue. It's smaller size helps keep it intimate. Quite worn around the edges. Bathrooms at top of flight of stairs.
Not to bad, upstairs washroom is not good. Good EV sound system. There is no acoustic wall system in the theatre; It makes distortion and noise. But you will love it if you are not classy.
Great venue for music, there's also seating at the back if you don't want to stand all evening.
So here's the thing about the Rickshaw: they're one of the very few live venues still operating in this candy-coated city and I've been to some of my favourite shows ever there. It's not in a pleasant neighbourhood and it's a bit beat up inside but you've got to look past that. You just have to.
Best grimy venue in the city for mid-large music and entertainment events.
Lots of metal shows there, don’t frick around or Kenny lush will kick your ass!
Great live music venue
This place has a great vibe offering lots of variety in the musical acts
Great venue, though not in the best neighbourhood.
It's in a rough end of town, but I've seen a couple of great shows here and it's good times.
I adore this venue, great employees, a wonderful event pretty much every time, I have too many memories to share we would be here for a year reading my review. …
I always enjoy shows here! We have our go to spot to great an awesome view of the stage. Sound is usually good. Only down side is it’s get hot as hell once the pit gets moving.
One of the top Vancouver live music venues hands down
Great door staff and good live music venue
Best alternative music venue in the city.
One of the best venues in the city, if you ask me!
Great venue, with great sound. Location is a little iffy, but security is great so it helps to keep the venue safe.
Aside from the...less than ideal location, it's actually a pretty nice venue. The floor space is a really good size, and there's also plenty of upstairs seating for anyone who wants to be a bit further away. The vibe fits a metal show really well.
Sweet venue for concerts, shame the location is so sketch.
Best venue in Van got hella drugged here once like 6 years ago
Great venue for live music in Vancouver
Awesome for live music, good selection for drinks but a very small bar
Awesome venue for great shows. Comfy venue good sound friendly staff.
My favourite venue to catch a show
Friendly staff and great atmosphere. I enjoyed myself as did my friends!
Fun venue, cash only, good drink selection.
Great venue for all your music needs!
Great spot for live music and a beers.
Not really what I expected. The show was great but the venue is really run down. There were a lot of vagrants outside and there was a puddle of piss outside which didn’t add to the aesthetic. The sound was alright but the venue seems like it’s falling apart. Hopefully they can restore it a bit. Drinks were priced fair for the show.
It is aight, but we ain't gotta go there.
If you want to see live music, you can do no wrong here. Great sound system and acoustics, great floor, seating, nice staff. The Rickshaw is just awesome.
Great place for underground concerts.
Best place for live shows around
One of Vancouver's musical gems. The staff are warm, the beer is cold and the acts are hot.
Nice Vancouver venue. I like the layout! Saw some good shows here.
One of the finest establishments in the heroin and urine smell district of Vancouver.
Very cool place to go. Surrounding is kinda scary. But inside they have great shows !
One of the last places in Vancouver to see this variety of concerts and Local bands on the regular. Support these places before they're all gone and then Vancouver really does become the No Fun City. And the place has lots of others shows and events as well.
Amazing sound. Cheapish beer. Super seedy. Super awesome. Thanks Rick
The bouncers are sweet and one of them shared his all dressed chips with me. Good venue, good sound. Nice n sweaty
Great spot to see a show. Hope you don't need to do a #2. Bathroom stall doors don't lock. Most likely for good reason though.
nice place. Great bands!
Came to see the Silverstein show. The staff was great, lots of drink options and at a good price. Just an awesome all around place to have live music.
Rickshaw is a great venue. Very spacious and the acoustics of the building typically complement the artists performing. It's unfortunate of the venue's location but security does a great job of keeping the place locked down. On the …
Great live music venue. Much improved from years ago.
Been going to this place for years. Love it.
Had a great time!! Love the smaller venues
The best place for metalheads!! ????????
Good theater to see alternative shows
A scary old place. Perfect to watch some metal bands perform
great concert venue, if a tad small for some of the shows they put on. not a great neighborhood to hang around in after the show ends, though.
Love the street, love the joint. Some of the best local music acts all in one spot.
Amazing sound to see a band. As a sound engineer I was surprised that I didn't need ear plugs to hear the band clearly. Even though the venue is a soft seater there was plenty of room at the front to dance and a great mosh pit. This was by far one of my favorite venues
It's in a sketchy part of town but security is really good and keep the place safe. Been here a couple times and it's always a great experience.
Converted theatre, great for concerts. It's in a slightly sketchy area but worth braving.
Really good local bands play here!
A reasonable amount of space to dance, lots of seating.
The most reputable venue for local concerts, it's in the shady parts of town, though, so be prepared
Best place to see big bands in town!
Went to see everybody's everything
My favourite concert venue. Always have cider, always reasonably priced drinks, and though it's not always open (or maybe not at all anymore?), it's great to take a break from the floor and watch the band from the upstairs balcony.
Great place to see live music including touring bands. One of only a couple places in town to see hard rock, metal, psych rock and other loud genres.
Nice little venue for a more intimate concert experience. Staff are nice. No serious searching at the door to get in which is refreshing.
Had a great time at the Julien Baker show.
Classic place. Enough seats. Best neighborhood ????
Don't let the locals scare you, they're mostly harmless. Just don't make prolonged eye contact, they'll take it as an act of aggression. Also if you have hard drugs keep them in a ziplock bag - the smell alone will cause them to go into a flailing frenzy. Yiu do NOT want to be in the middle of that, let me tell you. The smell alone could gag a maggot.
Very good bands in a cool and alternative venue.
3 stars for the wicked metal shows -2 stars because the doormen are fake security thugs [Not Even licensed security by the way] that think it's ok to assault patrons that pay to see shows. Watch your back around those scum. They assaulted friends of mine while kicking them out over a stage dive of all things...Also apparently according to one friend trying to reason with them will earn you a sucker punch for arguing... Outrageous...
Great place for live music!
Metal shows....what more can I say. It's a definitive venue for cool shows in Vancouver. I've seen numerous bands there over the years and I've loved every time I've been there.
Love the rickshaw, great venue for metal shows.
Zero air conditioning / zero air flow / zero fans / stale air / even the artists who play here sweat up a storm and are uncomfortable on stage - I get that it's an older building but man, at least invest in a few fans to move the air flow …
Great place for music concerts and shows, cozy environment with stage close to the crowd, without lose the underground style. The location is not great, but it really worth it to watch a show there
Sweet music venue, used to be an old kung-fu movie theatre.
Great place for small gigs
pretty interesting venue. former movie theater. the area is a trash!
Great venue. I loved the lay out of the place. My only complaint was that the bouncer was f***ing weird. I don't need to be touched by a bouncer unless I'm getting the boot.
The few times I've gone I've always had fun and the event runners are so friendly and nice!
Good bands, decent drink prices compared to the big venues
Amazing concert place, don't let it's location discourage you. Locals are the nicest. They have coat check and merch, two bars and a balcony!
Great sound, great staff. Rough around the edges but absolutely a great venue for a great time
My god is the area around this venue sketchy. It's a bit dated inside as well. Sound and lights are solid though and a decent spot to see a show.
The venue is smaller but it's better because you can see easier
For all that go to Vancouver and for all that live here everyone should stop in and go to the Rickshaw theatre at least once in their life
Such a great venue for music
One of my favourite places to see live music
Unlike the Rogers arena, metal gigs here are cool because there's space to mosh!
Awesome place. Full of characters and great performances.
Very interesting venue for live shows, I always enjoy this venue.
Some of the heaviest live music. Rock and metal. Staying true to the roots! Good bartenders, Friendly bouncers. Also think the bathrooms could be cleaner. The area is not that great. But give this place a chance!
One of the best old school venues in Vancouver! The best for metal concerts for sure!
Great venue for live music. Small club atmosphere with some pretty decent bands. You can often find up and coming bands playing here. The area is a little sketchy in the downtown lower east side. I would definitely encourage people to …
Great venue for rock and metal shows. Great lighting, sound, and beverage selection. The seating is nice too.
Best Venue in Vancouver, I'm here almost every other month for shows
A staple venue for years, it was great to see live music again.
Nice mid-sized theatre for smaller shows. "Story Party" was fun and enjoyable.
Awesome music venue with great sound. A gem in the downtown Eastside.
Nice theatre. Floor gets slippery during the show, not the greatest for moshing. Free water for some events. It's just in the shady part of EHast.
Cool venue for heavier shows. Old-school and gritty. Your shoes will stick to the bathroom floors.
We went to see palaye royale but they had to cancel because of water damage but they came out and played live on the street for us
Absolutely love the Rickshaw! The ambience is perfect punk and near-punk bands.
The theatre itself is alright. Only been to one live show here which was meh. The main thing is that it's not really an enjoyable area to hang out before or after the show. Security does a decent job at moving the soliciters along but they can only do so much.
Wrestling at the Rickshaw was a great evening! Sold out lively crowd and hours of sports entertainment. Definitely check it out next time it comes to town. Our first time and won't be our last!
Good place for music. Excellent sound. If youre coming here you know what youre looking for and it'll be good.
Mo runs a great venue! Awesome place for live shows.
Happy this place exists, good close stage classic venue .
Excellent venue for any genre of music. Great sound people, great sound system. As a musician I love playing this room.
Grungy but great rock shows.
Nice intimate atmosphere. Good drink prices.
Friendly staff and a comfy seating area. Everything inside is clean and pleasant. However, the place is in a rough location, so keep that in mind.
I've always loved this venue. The acoustics in here are great.
For an old, dark, dingy, dirty, dump of a place, there's an odd appeal to it. Sound is decent, and layout is pretty good. If you like dive bars, you'll LOVE this "dive theater". Bar service sucks, and are sometimes downright rude, but hey, most Vancouverites are......
A dive of a venue. Seats are horrible if you go to a seated event. Bar wasn't worth talking about and cash only! Sometimes a hole in the wall is a lot of fun but not this place. Hopefully there performers you want to watch don't use this venue.
The quintessential dirty punk/metal venue
The rickshaw rocks the dtes! If there's a cool, non mainstream band in Vancouver, there's a good chance you'll catch them here.
Nice use of space: grab a beer and sit on the balcony between bands. Good sight lines on the main floor.
Awesome venue. The location is the only drawback. The city really needs to work on cleaning up the drug problem.
Love the place. The location is not very friendly. But the place has a soul. And the audio is better than most other places that host similar bands.
Rough place but that's part of the charm. I'll always come back
Great live music venue, one of the best in Vancouver.
Good venue to see some of the best performances by top notch talent.
Big fun, good time, big bug pecans
0 stars to venues that support evil. (Discrimination, segregation, and hatred to people, in particular white people, who speak out against it.) Not my words, theirs.
My favourite place to go see shows
Intimate ex movie theatre, now a live music venue. Panhandlers are many and varied in the surrounding area but don't let that put you off. Fair acoustics an a wide variety of bands play here, worth going to!
Awesome crowd, great service, bouncers were very nice. Sound was great, history is cool. Drinks were not outrageously expensive. Would go back to see the bands I am into there!
Bad, horrible location. Otherwise, small, cozy seating area, with larger "dance floor"/open area. Small stage, good sound.
Professional staff and great venue, does get a bit hot so dress less!
Exactly what you'd expect for a main Street bar but fun atmosphere and good seating
My reviews about the venue and the show are different in nature. THE SHOW, put on by the Army Of Sass Vancouver, was really fun! Watching ladies and lads of all levels empowered in their bodies while dancing on the stage was inspiring and enjoyable. A highly recommended show that appears to be put on 3 times a year. THE VENUE, itself, was not so great with it's awkwardly angled stage partially wrapping around the performers. And no connection for performers from dressing rooms to backstage suggests this space may have been originally designed for concerts that feature only a few acts (although, the show producers of this event had creative and resourceful ways around this). It smelled like old urine in the upstairs hallways before you are even in the bathroom as if someone who was there 2 weeks ago decided they couldn't wait until they reached the bathroom to complete their business... A bonus is that there were refreshments offered at the lobby bar, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
The area is scary, especially at night. Inside is not bad, once you make it past some interesting denizens. The staff is nice.
I have been to a few events here and the place has that fun grungy vibe to it. There is lots of space and attracts all sorts of people depending on the event. Drinks are decent enough prices ($5 cans) and I have not had a bad night there.
My favourite venue to go to for shows. Large enough that there's a good crowd, but it's easy to access the floor to see the bands. Grungy but not gross.
All the best bands come to the rickshaw.
Awesome venue, welcoming atmosphere, good security--but they really need to have bouncers/security on the floor around the mosh pits to cool things down. It's too small a space; people get trampled if there's no one keeping things organized.
Went to Kiethmas at the Rickshaw last night. I have been to the last 5 of the 9 annual shows and do not want to miss number 10. Great evening of entertainment.
Wire Brainoil Sumac …
Hello,help yourself a drink,have a gooo..d time,enjoy...
temper your expectations, it is designed to be an alternative metal/punk venue really - started in a time when there aren't very many affordable large venues in town, so be glad places like this exist! too bad it's having live nation get it's hands in the pot now... seen many great shows here, the prices are usually good and sight-lines are GREAT. sound pretty good too considering.
Great venue for metal concerts, you have a good sight of the stage from everywhere.
The rickshaw is a hidden gem in vancouver for live music. The staff is friendly as all hell and the ambience is very welcoming. RBIII IS A GREAT EVENT COORDINATOR. Ill be going back very soon
On the corner of hastings and main bring your needle proof vest if seeing a show late.
Just Awesome venue and a great staff
Needs more bars but great music venue
Not your typical venue. No staff telling people to get out of the aisles and no point in having seating if everyone stands in front of you.... Too bad for the disabled people in the back rows! Mentioned how hot it was in the venue and no air conditioning. Was told 'hey it is summer'.... Yeah I know but when it is cooler outside then something is wrong. Holds up to 600 sweating adults with no where to sit and I think bullet proof vests should be handed out in the line to get in. Waste of time lining up to only have last minute concert attendees show up and stand in front of you. Went to Howard Jones specifically and will never go back. Be warned!! Also, I am 47. If you are younger than that you will just Love it! So... gentrificated.
Great place to see a band!
Great old thereat to check out gigs!
Acoustics terrible, sound level too loud for size of venue, ear plugs help which are sold on site.Washrooms disgusting.
Great venue, totally independent, following COVID rules without being preachy so that we can continue to have live music.
One of my favourite live music venues in Vancouver - lots of seats in the back half of the room for people who just want to relax. Cash bar.
it's a sweet place. the fans that usually go there are die hards. people warned me about it being sketchy since it's on east hastings. just took main street to avoid 98% of the lovely interesting folks. Would go again.
Sound is good, but the sight lines are great.
One of the best venues in town!
Always a classic place to see shows. I love the seats
One of my absolute favorite venues, ever. It's ratty, rundown, and crawling with atmosphere (and maybe a few other things :)). I absolutely love it!! It's Vancouver's answer to CBGB's. Great venue to see a band, because you can dance your fool head off in the front third of the room, or it take it all in from the old cinema seats in the back, with a good view of the stage. Bar staff are fast and friendly too.
I saw the band jinjer it was an awesome show!!
The theatre was amazing for the Kinfisher Bluez festival. Unfrotunately my brother's car was broken into and someone stole our winter coats. Not mine though! Overall amazing place just a sketchy area.
A great place for live music, especially rock, punk rock and metal. A big stage and dancing floor, followed by some cinema lines chairs. 2 bars with basic drinks. I think there is no food. Accessable to public tansit:lines 16, 95, 14 etc'.
Good vibes. Excellent atmosphere!
As casual as it gets, awesomely greasy. One of the last remaining iconic venues.
Terrible location but decent venue for metal shows
Super fun divey punk club. Honestly, I don't think anyone who wants to come here cares about the reviews. Also, the coat check girl gave me back my jacket but made off with my heart.
Best place to see a show!
I love this venue. Good sized space, lots of seats, sloped floor makes for easier viewing, nice big stage, decent selection of beer, and they let you go outside between sets to smoke, or ditch merch in your car or whatever. I wish the sound were more consistent, but all in all, this is a great Metal/Punk venue.
Was great I saw the lost girls burlesque show!!
Very surprised with this venue! Not in the best neighborhood so was a little hesistant. The bouncers at the door weren't your usually arrogant, rude, meatheads. Very straight forward but not rude. The tickets ladies inside actually had smiles and politely asked me to turn my phone brightness up. Very great energy to enter the venue with. Bartenders were about what you expect. Lack of eye contact, straightforward but not really rude just fast paced. Will definitely be back for more shows!
Good vdnue for all kinds of shows
Friendly staff decent cheaper venue
A great venue for live music. Bowie Ball, an annual Bowie festival featuring 12 bands playing for charity, is a highlight.
This has to be my favourite concert venue in the city. Theatre seating with a reasonably-sized floor for the enthusiasts. Friendly staff and great sound.
One of the few places left in Vancouver to see live music. Not fancy. Not a lot of drink options. No secured parking. But hey LIVE MUSIC!
Not the best sound, definitely better venues in van. But the rickshaw hosts lots of the great metal shows that come through town!
Always books good gigs, drinks are cheap but good and its a really easy to access venue
The Rickshaw always puts on killer shows. A fantastic venue for metal shows.
A very good live music venue.
I love seeing shows here. Great vibe.
Classic old theatre. Not the nicest one in the city but it's got great atmosphere.
Without question the best local independent music venue. My fav and best in Van City. Don't mind the neighborhood. Best staff and sound and atmosphere and even drink prices
The atmosphere here is nice and shows are usually reasonably priced here, but my big issue with it is the sound quality. So much re-verb that it's ruined a few shows for me.
Hell ya this place is amazing! 10/10 been going to years and one of the last remaining venues in this city. Please good the venues around here!
Unpretentious venue. Like home, fare abroad.
The sound guy needs a retraining or replacement. Or maybe the speakers are just bad. 3/3 of the last shows I've been to here have had audio quality (e.g., drums turned up too high and drowning out the vocals, songs barely recognizable). Gets points for cheap-ish beers and good atmosphere, otherwise, this would be a 1/5.
