REVIEWS OF Shaw Festival Theatre IN Niagara-on-the-Lake

Lesley Riedstra

Just loved both shows we attended this week especially loved the outdoor stage! We saw both the Devils Disciple and Ravens Curse and both were excellent. Also, the staff were all amazing, and the way they were handling all the social distancing, and checks at the doors, etc was great, smooth and we felt well taken care of. Thank you for bringing theatre back in all the crazy way things are still!!!!

Jeff Good

It was wonderful to see a Shaw show (The Devil's Apprentice) after such a difficult time. The show was great, the acting, set and stage all brilliant, and we'll worth seeing.

Paul Hassanally

Beautiful theatre with many levels of balconies and levels indoors and outdoors to lounge in and discuss with other theater goers during intermissions. Concessions are readily available but you are definitely paying to support the Arts at the snack stand.

Elise Moore

Excellently staged thoughtful productions. The gift shop is small wonderful, over priced but think of it as a donation. Has ice cream pastry some food as well as soft drinks and a bar with tables indoors and out if arrive early and need a snack. Seats are comfortable and modern. A smaller black box stage is across the small courtyard for more modern productions.

Miao XU

Went to see all three of Mythos Trilogy. The theatre amazed me. New and comfortable. BTW, the show is great. Stories are classical but refreshing.

Beverly O'Grady

Wonderful outdoor concert! Lovely to be back at the Shaw again.

Caitlin Young

I’ve been coming to the Shaw Festival for a few years now and absolutely love it. I’ve loved every show I’ve seen there. I appreciate the variety of shows that they do to make a really interesting season with something for everyone. I can’t wait to come back soon!

Gabrielle Huston

Very comfortable seats for a theatre, and excellent production quality! No spot offers a particularly bad view of the stage, and the gardens are a lovely spot to sit during intermission.

Waxing Sustainable

Took our young son to his first theater experience at the Shaw to see The Magician's Nephew. Excellent performance, and comfortable seating. There is no "bad" seat at the Festival. Everyone we interacted with was joyful, helpful, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Fabulous ticket sales as well if you are flexible with dates by using the "Today's Deal" section online. Highly recommend visiting the Shaw. Prepare to pay $15 for parking if you want to park at the Festival, otherwise you'll be walking a bit.

In saw Brigadoon on September 1, 2019. I enjoyed it immensely. The cast delivered and excellent performance. The music was great, especially the singing. There were many exciting moments when there was laughter from the audience, and a few sad moments. Alexis Gordon, who plays Fiona in this musical, delivered a stellar performance both in her singing and acting. It's definitely worth seeing, and I would again, if it were closer to where I live.

James Dekker

Great *Glass Menagerie* production in a cozy theatre. Simple staging. Great, exacting lighting, understated performances, except for "Mother, " who acted as a worthy potential victim of matricide. I'd see it again.

Ophelia Rose de Papillon

One of the best theater experiences you will ever have, the Shaw Festival's acting troupe are highly talented and the plays are varied from fun to deep and thought-provoking. There are different educational opportunities like the four-day Shaw Seminar where you can delve deeper into the playwright's mindset, the history of the production and the deeper meaning behind the plays. Visiting Phd's in literature, etc give talks, actors and directors provide insight and your days are filled with six plays to satisfy your theater-loving obsession. In addition, you will love the charming little town where the Festival is located. Niagara-on-the-Lake is in Canada's Niagara wine region where you can also go to wine tastings at many local wineries and enjoy gourmet meals at their highly-rated restaurants. There is plenty of shopping in this lovely town, and many historical sites to enjoy in the area. You can rent bicycles to get some fresh air, and you can stop at many a fruit stand for delicious produce from the Niagara farmers. There are many hotels and B&B's from which to choose, but please make sure to reserve your vacation well in advance or just be flexible, because those already in the know reserve up to a year in advance to have their preferred itinerary with repeat stays at favorite hotels and already purchased theater tickets. Go once, and you will become a regular yourself!

Other than the obscenely expensive drinks ($10 for a bottle of beer!) a really great facility.

I’ve seen a play, ‘The Magician’s Nephew’ with few of my friends and it was an amazing experience, there were moments I forgot I was in the theater and I just felt like I was there with them. Their props for this play see all made out of cardboard boxes! It was amazing. The food is a little overpriced, but the actors and the plays are just great!

M.C. Hayle

I went there to see the finale of The Magician's Nephew. It was a nice place, really cute neighborhood with store front boutiques and a diverse range of restaurants. Event parking can be found at the theatre, noth sides of the street just past the theatre or a few streets down in a larger paid lot (follow the green parking signs). The intermission snacks weren't all that expensive either. But the wine glasses were a bit small ????

In one word: superlative‼️ Over the course of a number of decades, Niagara-on-the-Lake and its outstanding theatre venues have been thoroughly enjoyed. All the actors, singers, dancers and those behind the scenes are memorable for their multitudinous talents, patience and desire to enhance the performance arts. Folks travel from afar to experience a magnificent afternoon and/or evening. In the summertime, my favourite was a group of elegant ladies standing in front of the Vaudevillian Royal George Theatre. Their discussion centered around how their favourite lines were delivered from a long-awaited play. This particular one was, "The Importance of Being Ernest." Critics, were they four. On this particular day and evening, their plans included partaking of a number of assorted productions. It was marvelled that they would not intermingle these varied ongoings. Obviously, what seasoned theatre buffs were they! Everyone whomsoever was interested in attending was invited and accompanied me. Our residency is in Toronto, Canada. Then it seemed like a hop, a skip and a jump. Such fine sojourns from The Prince of Wales Hotel to The Country Inn & Suites in Niagara Falls, Ontario were selected. My current desire would be to partake of a memorable High Afternoon Tea and some R & R (rest and relaxation) time, and also rejuvenation at a local spa whilst staying in towne. Not to be remiss, it must be mentioned that the following were and still remain awesome, the abundant Bed & Breakfast accommodations which were pleasant, sumptuous, fine dining establishments being in the forefront of my mind and Niagara-on-the-Lake's unique and unusual shoppes. Be it winter, spring, summer or fall are all highly prized as each has specially planned activities and correspondingly lower price points for lodgings. It is a superb place for the young and the young at heart. Thank you to all who make it possible for the ongoing presence of our enduring, ???????? superb Canadian tradition: The Shaw Festival.

Aimee Medina

Last show I saw this 2018 season was phenomenal with awesome effects and entertaining actors. But overall good season for Shaw this year.

A. jones

As regular theatre goers, friends and I attended Sweet Charity last Thursday. Just wanted to write this review as the show was OUTSTANDING. We loved every minute of it, the costumes, the set and of course , the singing and dancing -- hat's off to the cast , all the actress' and actors, you were all spot on and amazing ... you certainly earned the standing ovation ! Will visit again.

Debbie Brumell

Me and My Girl was one of the very best performances I have seen at The Shaw! Fabulously talented ensemble with wonderful tap dancing, singing and comedy. Costumes outstanding! Loved every minute! THANK YOU!

George Bragg

Been there three times for shows, each one has been great theater!

Jacob Williams

Beautiful productions, wonderful staff, and great deals for the under 30. I'd recommend everyone check out the festival and Niagara on the lake I'd they're in the area.

William Jones

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful day in Niagara on the Lake completing the evening with a show at the Shaw. As regular visitors of the Shaw, we thoroughly enjoyed an evening of laughter and excellent entertainment at the showing of "Holiday Inn". We really enjoy the warmth and hospitality of the theater. One complaint is with the staff who were inconsistent and somewhat rude about the mask policy. Some people were wearing while others were not. When I pointed this out they did nothing about it. These two elderly women really lacked the manners of a gracious host and is not typical of the treatment we are used to at the Shaw. Their behavior was more in line with "the mask police". We were not the only ones who witnessed this less than professional behavior.

Jamie Mudrick

The theater is very modern and spacious. The show itself was terrific. However the ushers really need more training and sensitivity towards those with mobility issues.

Alyssa Ross

We got to see Sweeney Todd here and it was incredible! The cast was so talented and professional! The seats were super comfy and there were plenty of food and drink options!

Aashima Singh

Extremely impressive production quality and design! Thoroughly enjoyed the Sherlock play

Diane Greer

We saw an amazing play - The Ladykillers! It's a must see!! The dialogue is brilliant as is the comedic timing of the actors. The actors are excellent and the set is a rotating work of art. Bravo and Kudos to all.

Kim Overholt

My first time at the Shaw Festival Theatre tonight and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience!! Thanks again!

Madi M

LOVED IT! Saw Sherlock Holmes and the Raven's Curse as a field trip with the day camp. Kids loved it! The sets, costumes, music, effects. STUNNING! We got to do some workshops which were amazing! The actress who plays Beatrice was amazing with the students and gave great advice. The whole cast was amazing to watch. The favorite characters for our group was Fiona, Sherlock and Beatrice. Our guide Warren was amazing, super nice and well informed. I haven't been to a show since 2018 would go again. Also the place was beautiful!!

Derek Johnson

Went to see the Magicians Nephew and it was fantastic. Easy to get in and out of the theatre. Tons of free parking on the streets. Even if you have to walk its NOTL, its meant for walking!!! They are now doing the Horse amd His Boy at Shaw...thank you thank you Shaw director...i love C S Lewis!!!

Edward Schroeter

I attended a delightful and engaging outdoor performance of Gatsby's Jazz, Sonny's Blues. It was well acted. The music and singing in this 1-hour piece was excellent and left me wanting more - another 30 minutes. Perhaps the technical limitations of outdoor theatre or Covid protocols prevented a longer piece.

Betty Knight

Theatre doesn't get better than this. Tim Carroll ('TC') is doing an incredible job bringing audiences closer to the theatre experience. Secret Theatre is always fun. If you are a local you can get a season's pass for a great deal . Great actors. Great theatre. Dont miss A Christmas Carol in November/December!

Hentley Small

We saw Dracula - great show. Theatre is decent as even the cheapest seats allow you to see everything easily. The biggest problem was the seats are a little uncomfortable. Overall it is a good place to catch a show.

Miron Barhad

Very nice theatre in the middle of a beautiful green area with Victorian houses and great expensive resturants! Then, it depends which kind of plays you like. I just enjoyed Brigadoon ????

Karen Sumpter

Love the festival! Always enjoy the shows. Seats are tight and a little unvomfortable; food and drinks somewhat overpriced; and be sure to bring a sweater or jacket-it's very cold in the theater.

Rick T

We went for their short presentations in the outdoor space. Lots of funny skits and the actors were fun to interact with.

Moran Foster

Beautiful patio, lovely staff, amazing spot for the Shaw festival!

Emily Johnson

Lovely theatre with comfortable and spacious seats. Brought my grandmother to see a play and had lunch at the cafe before the show. If you are driving from Toronto, I would recommend spending the night to break up the drive - we hit bad traffic both ways on a Sunday (no fault of the theatre of course!)

Jillian Speck

Beautiful facility! The gardens and terraces are incredible, the cafe offers a wide variety of well priced foods. The theatre itself is well pitched so there is no bad seat. It's comfortable and inviting. It's walking distance to downtown NOTL with all its charm. People dress both casually and dressy and it just makes for a wonderfully inviting atmosphere. It feels like a luxury with the comfort of your favourite t-shirt.

Trevor Longpre

It was my first time taking in a show at the Shaw Festival Theater. My wife and I watched Holiday Inn, one of our favorite holiday movies. The Show was fantastic! We highly recommend it! All performers were brilliant!

Scott Louzon

Saw Dracula, it was a wonderful play. Sat up on the balcony; felt a little far but I was still able to see the entire stage. The rest of the building is quaint but nice, with a decent food and drink/spirit selection.

Jennifer Doering

Not enough superlatives! Everything inside and outside the cottage was there. The cottage is perfectly designed with 6 bedrooms and 3.5 wonderfully appointmented bathrooms. Our group of 11 had plenty of space to be together or off on our own or in smaller groups. Want to have a fire? All the wood, kindling and even marshmallow sticks were right there. See a bird you can't identify? Yes, there is a bird book. Anything and everything anyone would need to prepare a gourmet meal was easily found in the well appointed kitchen. Dock was set up so we could go in at the shallow or the deep end. Loved the dock furniture, especially the gravity recliners. We spent almost all our time outdoors but if the weather had not cooperated there were plenty of places to hang out- a games and TV room, the great, really, really great room, and sitting area that overlooked it. I could go on and on. Can't wait to go back! See you again soon we hope.

Doug Anderson

We love the Shaw Festival and have gone for 4 days each year for the last 5 years. The Festival Theatre is gorgeous and spectacular and a great venue to see the large shows they perform. This is a treat no theatre lover should miss and it's open for almost 6 months.

Irfon-Kim Ahmad

The venue itself is wonderful. Staff are friendly and helpful. The stage construction was amazing, and the performance was very good. However, parking is so woefully inadequate as to knock not one, but two stars off. There was no parking available when we went and it took nearly 40 minutes to find alternate parking elsewhere in the town. I wound up missing a chunk of the performance and having to rejoin my party at intermission.

Carl Snider

What a great show! A fabulous performance enjoyed by all. Kudoz to cast and crew.

Kate Ruby

A lovely theatre in the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake. I would have given it five stars but it isn't handicap accessible and there are a lot of stairs to the seating levels. The theatre itself isn't overly large which means there really isn't a bad seat in the house. We went to a matinee called The Ladykillers and the show was a hoot, each member of the small cast was excellent and the characters were well developed. The revolving set was impressively designed and was utilized in clever ways to take you througg the story. There is parking in a lot beside the theatre as well as on street parking but if you're staying nearby in the area it's a pretty walk. Tasty looking desserts and snacks, and beverages of all kinds are sold.

Les Lakewood

I attended Shaw Festival to see a friend who is in their 8th season with the company. We saw Sweeney Todd, and was fortunate enough to spend the evening with many of the cast members after the show. Their camaraderie off stage confirmed the camaraderie on stage. The joy that the actors feel while performing together was clear and apparent. Looking forward to seeing another show next season.

McGregor Townley

Comfy seats that could be a bit wider but are on a good pitch so you can see clearly. The drinks are overpriced. The shows are always quality.

Terrance Alexander

I think the star rating has a definite correlation to how much you enjoy the shows because there is a definite amount of discomfort with the theater. The seats are very tight and can be a problem for anyone with a bad back. Ventilation is not great - last year the theater in May was very warm; this year in October it was not bad but you definitely appreciate getting outside during intermission. And avoid first row balcony - it has a metal bar that cuts right through your line of sight and last year we left early because it gave us a headache trying to look over or under the bar. I have to give the theater itself 2 stars, but because the productions we saw - Brigadoon and Ladykillers - I bumped my overall rating up to 4 stars.

Calla Dewdney

Went to see Raven’s Trust. Scenes were drawn out, actors were sometimes hard to hear and there was a LOT of focus on expository monologues about other characters not yet introduced. Yikes my seat was uncomfortable. Once the Fiona character was introduced our tolerance maxed out. We left at intermission. Kudos to the set designer or whoever made the scene transitions such a welcome diversion from the tedium of the narrative.

Kally Zwolak

This is a fabulous theatre. There are 2 venues, The Festival Theatre and the Royal George Theatre. The acoustics are great in both, and there are no bad seats. The Company is talented and the productions are high quality!

Anastasia Hagey

Absolutely amazing, I have loved every performance I've seen the shaw festival put on ever since I was a little girl. The actors do such a great job and transport me to another place each time! I couldn't ask for more and I thank the shaw festival for extending their season within the past few years and putting on wonderful Christmas plays also. I always look forward to the next one!

Nurir Rohmah

This was probably one of the most memorable show I have ever watched and enjoyed. Now I understand why Shaw Festival is very famous in Canada. It's really one of the show you can compare to the one in Broadway. The theater is clean and they have at least four different theaters with four different shows throughout the entire season. It's easy to reach from Fort George parking lot and there's a cafe inside to complete your experience.

Sara Dominguez

We went to Brigadoon, the performance was good, music was beautiful. We'll be back again????

Mathew Yanovsky

We went to see"Magician's Nephew". My girls enjoyed the play a lot. The venue itself is very nice, not too big so even at the balcony one has a good view of the scene. The only issue is parking, it was really packed and they only accept cash (no cards).

H A

The play was great, super friendly staff. The vibes there were just ✨immaculate✨ love it! ❤️

Stephen Skublics

Nothing can surpass the experience of a musical at The Shaw. World class vocals, live orchestra, dancing, sets, atmosphere; there is no other form of entertainment like a Shaw Festival performance. Dress up, bring anyone and everyone, enjoy a drink at intermission, and have grand time as you witness theatrical magic, on the beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake strip, at The Shaw Festival.

Rick MacLeod

We enjoyed the production "My Girl" at the Shaw Festival. The venue was comfortable and the balcony seats were angled perfectly so that people in front of you did not cause an obstruction. The drinks were served in reusable covered plastic glasses which you can bring home to use as a travel glass for summer drinks.

Hisham Mohammed

A very nice theatre! We saw The Hound of Baskervilles here, our first ever play. It was good that it was a familiar material, but the overall experience was great.

Ian Fitze

Upscale and pleasant - very much in keeping with NOTL's atmosphere as a whole. Parking and drink rates are a bit expensive but one would assume you are going for the live theater so at least you know what to expect.

Derrick Thornbury

I'd give it 6 or 7 or 10 stars if I could. We saw Brigadoon, and it was amazing!

gingtaz

Very nice theatre. The parking lot is very small. If you get there 30 minutes before the show you should be able to find parking on a nearby street. But get there too much after that and you may find yourself driving around looking for parking and miss part of your show.

Alan Meijer

Great show. Parking is $15 but you can park for free on streets nearby. All seating is great. Nice atmosphere. Found discount tickets offers online for certain performance dates. We saw magician's nephew.

JCK

Never a disappointment. Plays are well done and the building is in a beautiful area. Only down side are the snotty seniors. If you can ignore their huffs and puffs your in for an amazing experience.

Daniel Brotherston

The grounds are carefully tended, lush plants, flowers are all around. The outside reception area has water features, the indoor area is nicely appointed. Drinks are available, although as expected wildly overpriced. The theater itself has comfortable seating, lots of leg room, great visibility and excellent acoustics.

Fyonna Vanderwerf

An amazing place to see creativity at its best. The cost for drinks and treats however is a bit excessive. Bathrooms clean and easy to find. The plays were a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.

brad matson

Wonderful place to visit and see some of the best live theatre out there now.The town is lovely and caters to the crowd. Lots of restaurants and pubs for a pre show or post show drink. The flowers and park settings provide a great way to spend some time to walk and talk.

Shari Harper

A wonderful theatre experience! We enjoyed Grand Hotel on their first day and the cast was magnificent. Everyone who visits Niagara on the Lake has to see a show!

Jacqui Tucker

Shaw Theatre is centrally located right on Queen Street with all of the wonderful shops and restaurants to take in while you're there. Very close to the lake and conveniently located right in the centre of town. The seats were perfect, prices extremely reasonable and an awesome play. I highly recommend it.

Mike Henderson

Saw A Horse and His Boy. Excellent production! Pay a few bucks for parking on the surrounding streets instead of the overcharged theatre parking.

Mock Turtle

The Shaw Festival Theatre always does a fantastic job with their productions! I've seen Sweet Charity, Sweeney Todd, and Alice in Wonderland. All of them moved me to tears. The theatre invokes deep feelings of passion and that can't be beat. If you're in the Niagara region visiting, definitely see what's playing at the Shaw Festival and check it out. You won't regret it!

Oistin Man

Saw the Gatsby's Jazz, Sonny's Blues show Excellent show Fastest hour ever Left me wanting more Great cast .

Walter Ego

I went to see The Horse and his Boy. Almost all the actors played multiple roles, playing their characters with charm and energy. There was some singing/chanting, which was unusual for a play, but the performers were committed throughout and presented the tale in a fresh, imaginative way. The sets and costumes were fairly good for the budget, and the actors projected well.

Jim Horne

Just an absolutely wonderful place to see and hear a concert. Obviously dependent on whether you like the artist, but the venue is just smashing. Acoustics are great and it is a beautiful structure. Comfortable and also very well run and organized. I have had many just wonderful experiences at this place. Wish there were more like it. Maybe someday they will branch out into comedy. There might be someone out there who is almost as funny as me, I kind of doubt it...but you never know.

Farley Hadley

My mother and I took my kids here to see The Magician's Nephew. It was a wonderful experience! The venue is very nice, and the play itself was a very creative and interesting take on the classic novel. The food and drinks on site are really expensive, but I suppose that matches the venue and locale.

Nancy Steinhausen

What a brilliant place to see great theater. We saw Holiday Inn and loved the costuming & set design. The voices were beautiful too. Felt safe with its COVID protocols in an almost full theatre.

Kevin Faherty

We saw the Grand Hotel at Festival Theater and had a great evening. Though an usher was overly aggressive with patrons we still had a phenomenal evening. Theatre is always clean and though drinks are pricey it is expected at a venue like this. Shaw festival is always impressive in the quality of production offered and experience of what theatre should be in today's age.

Christina Lewis

My mom & I saw "The Devil's Disciple" at 7pm on July 21. What a fabulous experience. It was under a tent, staged beautifully, in the outdoors. The production was excellent, as usual at the Shaw Festival, and it was so wonderful to have a theatre evening again after all thia time. If you're a regular at the Festival, this play will not disappoint. Well done, all. Really well done.

Dee Mac

A beautiful place with great productions year after year. The temporary outdoor stage doesn't cut it.

Richard Kondas

Beautiful theater with no bad seats in the house!! We saw Ladykillers which was very funny, well acted with awesome set design! We live the Shaw Festival!!

Robert Craigs

Well done with simple props and the now standard projected scenery. Seemed true to the C. S. Lewis novel. Our party of 6 all liked it. Coffee kiosk in lobby had pumpkin amaretto cheesecake to die for. Beautiful grounds around theatre.

Jerry Volpini

Excellent theater, beautiful decor and all the amenities. Staff is friendly and helpful. Like the tables indoors, or out on the terrace. Washrooms clean and well kept. I'd say the lobby is a bit cramped but minor complaint. Been here several times and always a great experience!

Ethan Ferguson

Great summer theater is a beautiful setting. The plays can be hit and miss but are mostly hits. Have seen Stain Joan which was very well done and 1979 which was not bad. Looking forward to rest of the 2917 season. Also the new outdoor seating is a nice addition. I was however sad to see that the amazing gift shop appears to have been scaled down this year.

Linda Lane

Beautiful Theatre. Saw Brigadoon which was superb. Sat in seats J18 and J19 which were dead centre orchestra. Excellent view. There is a nice cafe featuring Niagara wine and salads, sandwiches, and other goodies.

Greg Kuran

Nice and small intimate venue to see a show, can't go wrong with any of the seats in this venue. Parking is $15 at the venue, but you can park for free after 6 on the street.

S Parky

Been going for a few years. Top notch performances, costumes, settings, limited only by the size of the venues. Makes a wonderful evening out in NOTL - dinner, shopping, play. Very friendly telephone booking agent too.

Allan Carr

Saw Me and my girl, perfect venue and performance. Great seats fab theatre, $15.00 parking but well worth the money. Love Niagara-on-the-Lake, you will too.

Dan Prowse

Performance was great, facilities appear to be first rate Parking fee probably pays for the snow removal and grounds keeping contract. $15 for performance. Almost as expensive as hospital parking. Also staff are somewhat less than helpful with storage of mobility aids. My wife uses a walker, were not directed ad to where to store it for the performance. We stashed it behind the last row of seats. After the performance, there it was, gone. The staff had collected all devices and corralled them in the side of the lobby. It was then a free for all to (a) find the place where they had been taken and (b) finding ours. Oh, and no help from staff at this point.

Rae Vandenberg

The Shaw Festival Theatre has a very steep incline for those buying in the cheap seats. Also, accessibility is a problem for the balcony as there is no elevator. Our play had a 15-minute intermission which is too short to allow for women to use the crowded balcony bathroom.

Johanna Cotte

My 12 year old daughter took her 81 year old Grandmother (Nannie) to the performance of Guys and Dolls. They had an incredible time. They left the theatre singing. It was a wonderful opportunity for my Mom to share some of her favourite songs and for my daughter to start a early love affair with the theatre. If you are thinking of a gift for the hard to buy Senior, tickets to this performance are ideal, and either go along yourself or have their grandchildren go. Memories of great experiences last a lifetime.

Gary Hood

This is an excellent theatre. The plays performed at the Shaw Festival are some of the best I’ve seen in Canada, bar service is fast, and washrooms are clean and accessible.

Sharon Cockburn

The play was excellent, the music lively and it was so nice to be enjoying live theater again!.

Vincent Nachaty

Beautiful theatre, followed COVID guidelines checking every patrons COVID passport, great production of "Holiday Inn", a must see show, $25 bus ride from Toronto round trip is worth every penny. Highly recommend it!

Carol Wittman

Annual trip to Shaw Festival Theatre and saw Brigadoon. Outstanding performance. Actors/actresses top notch with singing and dancing. Orchestra...Great!!! Shaw Festival does not disappoint. Worth the trip.

Stephen E Foster

Just watched Brigadoon, the singing, acting and sets were amazing. Sight lines seem to be great from almost any seat. Amazing show, my wife even cried.

John Theiss

Choreography, stage, acting--I went to keep a friend company and had a great evening. The show was so well put together, a play I never appreciated really entertained. The Shaw festival is unique.

Ken Dedesko

Saw the Hound of the Baskervilles... Really nice. Entertaining and funny. Welll directed and easy to enjoy.... Don't have to be a theater geek. I took my wife as a birthday present then it to dinner.. it was great.

Jennifer Bradbury

Sat outside on a beautiful day and watched an incredible performance of "Gatsby's Jazz, Sonny's Blues." So glad to see live theater again

Andrew Amatiello

The staff and the plays are great, but the seats are uncomfortable. I don't know how people taller than 5'8 can sit 2 hours without cramping.

Sandra Shugars

Awesome show this evening. Had the pleasure of seeing Brigadoon. This is my third year in a row of coming to the Shaw Festival Theater, and looking forward to seeing next year's performance.

M Rashid

It is a big theater well organized and helpful staff.

Dingo Warrior

Utteringly ridiculous....minimal Covid measures in place...the theatre should be ashamed of themselves...patrons literally hacking behind us and openly discussing their pending Covid test results...why aren't ushers escorting sick patrons out of the threatre

DAVID STEIN

Saw "Forty Years On",in 1970. Never bothered returning, after the estimable Newton took over. The company has NEVER had a great, internationally-renowned artistic director, and why this rich, twee little town has a theatre named after a British Fabian socialist eludes me (hick ignorance?). How many pseudo-English "festivals" do we need in this country??? Do they have CANADIAN summer festivals in the States or U.K.? GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Miriam O'Herlihy

Stellar. Simply stellar production of Desire Among the Elms.

David Senik

Good to be able to see live shows again. Nice theatre; not a poor seat in the house.

Jacqueline Gierczak

Wonderful afternoon. Uplifting song, comedy, dance, lots of audience participation, under a blue sky in a beautiful garden setting.

Richard Carter

FANTASTIC!! A great festival to visit. Been going here for a long time. Well worth a visit. You won't be disappointed. Usually they have a wonderful selection of works to offer. The festival is in the pretty little town ofNiagara on the Lake a beautiful place to visit and look around. Very busy in summer & parking can be a challenge. About 1 1/2 hours from Toronto depending on the traffic on the QEW.

Allegra Bradberry

1st time in attendance. Going to list the positives to try and make this quick. Try. : Easy drive, nice facilities, great seating (atleast on the first floor, can't speak for the upper level). The lobby cafe has a really good assortment of soups, sandwiches, salads, etc. (Not sure if the menu changes drastically per performance) The prices aren't bad at all and they offer other refreshments (wine, beer, soft drinks, specialty coffee, tea, etc) and desserts. The staff is very friendly and attentive to the needs of patrons. I attended a matinee and they had refreshments available for purchase before the performance, during intermission and afterward. There was also a small patio party where a band played for patrons after the show. Very cute and the weather was beautiful. Definitely would come back again and see another show. Overall experience was wonderful *I thought leaving a review of the show would be out of place because I'm positive the season changes but Brigadoon was a great.

Taco Grande

A nice place to see a play. They really need to keep concessions stand open for a few minutes after the show , would have been nice to get drinks on the way out.

Brian Bee

Stephen Fry mesmerizes with one person performance. Seating is tight like aeroplanes. Count on spending some time finding parking or you may just want to pay $15 for close parking.

Martin McCombie

Comfortable seats with legroom. Stairs are a little steep for anyone that is elderly. Great views of the stage even from the sides. $15 to park the car when you've already paid for a play ticket is a bit much - I think $10 would be more reasonable

Plenty of space to move around pre/post show. Lots of room outside to roam during intermission. Seats comfortable. Bar staff super friendly. If l had to knock something it would be the lack of places to sit pre show/ intermission. $15 parking is a tad harsh as well but it is NOTL so l do get it.

The play was good. Paid a lot of some good tickets and was not disappointed. The only thing is after paying premium dollars for everything (as us per usual in niagara on he lake) they ding you an extra 15$ for parking. Why is everyone in my pocket?

Experienced a hilarious show under the stars with appropriate social distancing. Well done Shaw Festival!

Great experience again. Excellent theater including all three "Mythos" productions with Stephen Fry. Originally planned to leave on sat but just had to see the third Mythos on "men" so got one of the last singe seats and stayed an extra night at the best B &B in town, Mike and helen Kings on Nassau st. Where I've been going with friends and family for about 30 years. Had a great lunch at Treadwell restaurant.

It is in a beautiful setting in a picturesque little town. The musical that we saw was entertaining and the theater is a nice size with a good view from every seat.

We saw me and my girl and it was a really good show. The venue was great as well.

We come every year. The seats are comfortable, there's food and drink available for purchase at intermissions, and the quality of the plays offered and the skills of the actors cast are outstanding.

Awesome production of Holiday Inn! Great cast and Orchestra!! This was the last show we saw before covid and our first show back in the theatre and we loved every minute! My 14 year old was thoroughly entertained (no small feat!)We felt very safe in the theatre and were so happy with how staff handled all protocols. Can't wait for next season!

Just saw Holiday Inn this afternoon and it was spectacular, amazing and fabulous!! Wonderful work by all involved and you could just feel the energy and excitement from both cast and audience at being back in the THEATRE!!

Wonderful talent at a small renown town theater! Saw Brigadoon and enjoyed the beautiful sets as well as the talented singing and acting. At intermission, you can purchase delicious desserts and drinks. There is limited paid parking in the lot beside the theater and some paid parking along the road.
