This Movie Theater corresponds to the category of Movie theater.
Absolutely a cozy and unique cinema in downtown. You pay $12,00 (adult) for a ticket that's worth it - the seats are super comfortable, the screen and sound system are great. They often have some alternative movies and the classics are always on display. The interior has this nostalgic vibe - the corridors remind me of the movie The Shining
This place is awesome...staff is amazing and on prices are good. On Tuesdays the movies are $5. Popcorn is $5 and large drink $5... And it's unlimited refills. The movie theatres are small but it's kinda goes with the retro hipster style this place gives off. I hit this place every Tuesday. See you there.
Great movie deals (7$ for matinee before 6pm Monday-Sunday during the summer; 5$ Tuesday matinee before 6pm year round) and good concession combos. Definitely a plus point is that popcorn flavor packages are free for anyone next to straws/napkins. At Cineplex you have to pay for those.
$10 movie tickets, $7 on Tuesdays for all day pass. Phenomenal value for price. They recently replaced all the old hard seats with recliners!!! I wouldn’t watch a movie anywhere else in Canada.
Cheap ticket prices. The reclining chairs are amazingy comfortable! Every seat has a good view. Empty chairs kept on either side of your own group. Extra cost of $5 for drink & snack after movie was worth cost of keeping theatre open.
Really great seats and sound system is decent. The screen is smaller than I expected but it didn't matter as much as I thought it would. Loved the powered recliners. Very comfortable with soft padded arm rests. Definitely coming back here,
Classy little cinema with a piano in the lobby and 6 or so theatre shows ... they have 5 dollar entry on Tuesdays... oh... and no stadium seating....
Name change or otherwise, this place will always be "Rainbow Cinemas" to me. Just because there's no IMAX doesn't mean this isn't a great little cinema. Hoping that despite the name change and COVID, they'll eventually get off the ground and start showing some more independent movies.
The tickets are much cheaper at $10 a ticket and $5 on Tuesday's. It IS a bit run down though however, so don't expect the most comfortable seats like some of the other imagine cinemas that have been renovated.
Best movie theater in Toronto to me! CAD$12 for a ticket to great movie in a luxury chair. Vintage interiors as a nice twist.
The prices are good for this cinema as it it cheaper than Cineplex. The theatres are not that big though and the screens kind of small. Plays recent movies and there's usually no line ups and you can get a good seat.
Got charged $13 for one large popcorn which I caught. Not very kid friendly. Asked for a second empty bag to split popcorn amount in half so one kid could add the topping and one could eat plain and they made a BIG deal about it.
This is a sister theatre to one at Carlton and Yonge but it is not as nice. This one is down some serious stairs and good luck getting cell reception. Although that is probably a good thing in a theatre these days. Small screens. Small price. Again, not a place to see the newest Star Wars. Some theatres are more like your home theatre because they are so small but this is a good place to have a cheap night out.
My cheap neighborhood theater for movies that don't need to see for 3d or IMAX flicks. Tuesday afternoon works best since it's my day off and I can get new releases at the biggest screen in this location (they have several and some are barely bigger than the home theater system) so don't expect a 800 seater here for $5 movies
The price is right, but it's hard to go back in time to non-stadium style seating. If it's a relatively empty theatre then it's awesome - if busy, then you'll have heads in front of you covering the screen. Staff always seems friendly.
So much better after the renovations. Huge seats that recline, and all have great views. You can also book your seats so you don't have to worry about getting there early. Cheap tickets. Cheap popcorn. Can't beat it for a movie. It's like going to VIP. Now if they could get a liquor license, it would be the best.
The recliners in the theatre are amazing, it really made the whole experience! However, I think the theatre can definitely do a better job at making it clear to customers about reserved seating. There was a couple sitting in my assigned seats when I got there... and interestingly my seat numbers weren't already printed on my physical tickets??? I had to pull up my email on my phone to show them... so they had to move to other seats, but they did seem a little bit clueless about "reserved seating". The same couple then had to move again because they were in other people's reserved seats.... I just feel bad for them/their experience because they actually got there early but somehow ended up in front row...
The layout of this place is not ideal. There is only one kiosk for self service. The theatre room was warm and the rows were extremely close together...virtually no leg room and I am only 5'5 so that says alot. The strangest thing about this place is that they actually have a security guard that searches your bag to ensure that you have not brought in any outside food or drinks. My friend's gym bag was searched yet I saw numerous people with backpacks gain entrance without their bags being inspected. I thought that this was suspicious as my friend is a black male. I would like to confirm what is in fact the company's policy on this, in an effort to understand why my friend's bag was searched and not those of the other people. This at the very least was unfair and left me with a negative perception of the theatre.
Always a pleasure going to the cinema here! The staff are always super nice and helpful and they recently upgraded their seats and they are amazing! No comparison even to The VIP experience at other cinemas.
I love this theater because it's cheap. That being said, the cheaper ticket prices also means less quality. This place needs some serious redecorating but it's works well and The staff is friendly. The theaters are located downstairs so you might have some phone reception issues. I've been there a few times and on two occasions there were problems with the screens. One had a bright white dot that would appear in the middle and the other looked like someone had taken their buttery popcorn hands onto the screen. I told the staff about it but haven't been back yet to see of they were fixed. Even though it needs an update, it's still a good place to go to see movies for cheaper than the cineplex price.
Cheap ticket prices and the viewing areas are always clean when we go. Their new luxury chairs are really comfortable at a fraction of the cost of the big name cinemas!
Great new relaxing reclining chairs at the theatre. The best part of the movie is sitting in comfort after a long day. New movies and fair pricing, while using the online seat selection beats waiting in line for the box office to open.
Comfortable leather reclining seats-we love going to this theatre. Never a line to buy tickets because everything is done on your phone. The price is slightly less than the big mega cinemas. The theaters are all quite small compared to the big cinemas, but sound and quality are great.
A few steps from the St. Lawrence Market, Imagine Cinemas in the market Square is the perfect spot to spend a few hours and escape the world. Reasonably priced movie tickets, the latest movies, comfortable seats and a very nice staff make this place a good cinema to attend. I highly recommend it.
I like Market Square. True, it does feel like someone converted an old bomb shelter into a theatre, but they manage somehow to maintain the atmosphere of a local movie house. I don't even live in the area, but every time I go, I feel like I'm participating in a neighbourhood outing. It makes going alone to a film so very much more pleasant.
My favorite movie spot in all of Toronto! Imagine Cinemas (formerly known as Rainbow Cinemas) offers the ultimate customer service experience for movie-goers. You seriously can not find the same level of hospitality at the bigger theatres such as Cineplex or Scotiabank. The staff are so nice and are really knowledgable about films. I've been coming here for over four years now, and my girlfriend and I always have a great time. It's also located by some great pubs and food spots, making it the best place to be for a dinner and movie night.
Close your eyes. See the crisp autumn leaves dancing their way to the ground. The neutral sky that questions your sense of time. The colours are all muted, but a soft piano fills the void. You feel alone, but so connected. The fresh breath of the season sends a shiver under your skin from time to time. Eerie, but peaceful. Then, a jarring shift. The ground no longer feels stable; the music turns into discordant pounding; the trees unceremoniously shed their leaves. It is a lifted, coal-rolling truck you see, shattering the landscape and everything it provided you. That is what the theatre etiquette videos are like at this cinema. I'm not saying the lack of subtlety is good or bad, I'm just saying.
Lovely little theatre. Excellent prices (especially on Tuesdays) with a nice family atmosphere. Great place if you want to avoid 3D!!!
My Friends and I come here all the time. They are very reasonably priced (both tickets and snacks). The staff are all very friendly and helpful. This place has a certain charm about it and they are just in it for the love of movies, not emptying your pockets ! The new seats are the best! And the price is still great!
The best seats in town. Beats cineplex VIP by a mile. Great screen, sound and snacks. Mizuho is an awesome employee. This is my new go-to theatre.
Friendly staff, good price and great film selection. The cinemas are clean and vary in size from small to good sized.
Love the open caption option for movies here! I'm hard of hearing and it's nice having the subtitles on the screen as opposed to the cupholder CC device that Cineplex offers. Imagine Cinemas recently upgraded the seats to recliners that are huge and comfy! My boyfriend and I were the only people there to see Detective Pikachu and it was great having the whole theatre to ourselves ????
My personal favorite theater in the city. It just feels like a theater experience that I had as a kid. The prices as great. Nothing is ruined by gimmicks. Best seats you will ever sit in at a theater. Even Cineplex's vip seats can't …
Love this theatre! It is in my neighbourhood so I visit quite often. It is not big but very cozy. The decoration is great. The staff is very friendly. $5 Tuesday is a steal. I love to drop by spontaneously on a lazy Sunday afternoon with not many people which give you a private theatre experience. I have introduced it to a couple friends working in the financial district. We went after work on Tuesday. They all love it!!
The best theatre in downtown Toronto. Reminds me of the good old single screen theatres but updated seats ALL RECLINERS! Good screens good sounds and most importantly fabulous staff !! If there was a members club for Imagine Cinema’s...I’d love to be in it :) Keep up the good work.
My favourite theatre in the city. Great staff and cheaper prices than Cineplex or other larger chains (ticket prices and concessions). Although the theatres are smaller, both the sound and picture quality are great and the chairs are extremely comfortable and reclinable.
This place brings you back to an old theatre. It has some charm to it. My favourite part of it though is that every seat is a recliner, so it is so comfy to watch movies in, and the theatre sizes aren't huge. I would much rather go here than to cineplex anyday, although if you like massive screens and huge sound you won't find it here.
Saw Avengers: Endgame here Saturday. The seats were meh. They're the like the old harder Cineplex VIP seats. It's honestly a "you get what you pay for" experience. The flick cost $10 and we got to pick seats. It was better than watching it at home. The popcorn was terrible. It was so stale! They wouldn't even give us an extra bag so my wife could share the popcorn as she likes to drown hers in them seasoning salts and I don't ( >.<)
Cozy and cheap place to watch a movie. Snack prices are way cheaper than the normal cinema. Would recommended to get tickets online as they do tend to sell out quickly. Tuesdays are great since tickets are only $5 and they have snack deals available as well
I am impressed. We were here during a holiday and I did not expect the level of comfort of those recliners to be that good considering the tickets were much cheaper than at home. Boy was I wrong. Very comfortable seats, clean venue and not too big of a theater. Image and sound quality were good. My only minor complaints were that the volume was too high and the theater is not completely dark during the movie. The wall lighting is left on very dimly and the recliners have lights to help you find the controls. That's kind of distracting. Other than that it was a very nice experience.
Hands down the best cinema in the city. If you want IMAX, 3D, moving seats or other distractions then this is not the place for you. In the other hand if you want to watch a movie in a cozy place with a great staff who actually seem to care all for a fair and reasonable price, then go here. Don't worry, they have all your favourite snacks for a fair price too and state-of-the-art digital projectors; this isn't some low-rent dive. As an added bonus, check out their web page for upcoming special events!
This is the best little cinema, and an open secret for those in the neighbourhood. There's no 3D, or any theatres with an "X". Just good movies and great treats. They now have the seniors combo, which suits my wife and me (a small popcorn and small drink! What an idea!). Combine that with cheap entry on Tuesdays and you don't have to break the bank to see a new movie.
So this place is awesome. I've walked by it many a time but never went in before today. I don't know if I'll ever go back to one of the Cineplex movie theatres. First, the tickets here are super cheap - only $10 on a regular day ($7 on Tuesdays). Second, you get to pick your seats beforehand, which means you don't have to get there super early. Finally, they have full reclining seats, which are freaking awesome. The only thing I would hope is that they work on their advertising because they should be getting way more business than they do. The only reason I checked it out was because of a recommendation by my coworker. Overall, it's a really great movie theatre!
This place is pretty close to Union Station (only around a 10-minute walk), but the real draw is the seating, which reclines and is absolutely HUGE. Only thing that's disappointing is that they don't accept SCENE points (of course). It's great - if you wanna watch a movie, go here!
Big VIP style recliners. Unlike Cineplex they don’t cost more and fully recline with your legs up. Clean, great value
Small theatres and screens, but fantastic pricing for downtown (including flat $5 Tuesdays) and often some unique or unexpected shows available. The decor is dated and the entrance is slightly out of the way but it's cool to have a literal underground theatre. Prices are better than Cineplex, especially for snacks.
I freakin love this place - come here to watch scary movies and you won’t be disappointed. It’s kind of retro and creepy and makes the movie that much more fun! The prices are actually reasonable and don’t break the bank like cineplex does, and this theatre tends to get the big blockbuster movies sooner than its Carlton cinema counterpart. Sometimes even while the movie is playing in the big theatres. It’s never too busy, I just love it so much and really hope it doesn’t go out of business! ❤️
A good place. Very reasonable. A refit of an old cineplex. Has had a few owners over the years. Don't expect fancy bells and whistles like 3D or surround sound. Just movie screens, reasonable seats and low prices. When I go see a film it's usually here. No regrets.
Update: They fixed the elevator and then they added these awesome power reclining seats. Price went up to $7 on Tuesday, still $10 rest of the week. Assigned seating, so you can buy in advance online and know what seat you'll get. They fixed my one complaint, so it's awesome now. Original review (where I rated them 4 stars) follows below: The place is older. Seats aren't very comfortable. I was disappointed to see the elevator was out of service on this visit (not usually a problem). So why 4 stars? Good value. They show first run films with no 3d or gimmicks and they play them at a good price. Five bucks on Tuesday and 10 bucks other days. Snack prices are okay (by cinema standards) and they still offer refills on large drink and popcorn. Staff are friendly. When I leave, I feel I've had a good time and got my money's worth. Also, kudos for being handicapped accessible in all screens.
Wonderful theater! Comfortable seats and very caring and understanding staff. Much better than ANY cineplex. Must visit!
Great seats, lovely staff, quieter than the big box theaters. Popcorn - 2 out of 5. Usually I find it stale with a good chunk of hard bits. Need to work on popcorn to get full stars.
Its a small and kind of old theater. The lobby has cool selfie and photos spots with the movie characters on life size cardboards. A little hidden, the studios are underground and there's little to no signal down there. The staff seems organized sometimes but everyone is relatively nice. On Tuesdays all tickets are $5. Which is great. Popcorn is good.
Incredible amount of legroom with the chairs which are the most comfortable I've ever sat in in a movie theater. It's very much an old school experience watching a movie here because it lacks the high tech accoutrements of a modern theater. No 3D, no Imax, no Ultra AVX etc. The screens are actually small compared to a modern theater. So why the high rating? Extremely comfortable seats, the movie only cost $10. If you're watching Avengers, maybe look somewhere else but if you just wanna check out a nice Rom-Com or a thought provoking documentary this is a great spot.
It's like a throwback to a simpler time. This Imagine Cinema is in the perfect place, with places to eat before a nostalgic movie experience. Tickets are cheap and the snacks are what you'd expect when going to see a movie. It's unfortunate that the new owners aren't as community based (the cinema used to have a community display) but it definitely still feels like a spot everyone should know about.
I like Imagine Cinemas a lot. I go to three of their locations quite regularly. This one though on Thursday night was really thin on staff - a bunch of people could have walked right in cause no one was there to check tickets. The air-conditioning for theater 6 (I sat row D, seat 8) was freezing. I was literally shivering, nose was cold and worried I would get sick. Also don't bother sitting in front of the screen - the row is way to close.
Love this place. Cheap movies (especially on Tuesdays). The theatres are not the fancy new ones but they are cozy and the staff are very friendly. Great for date night.
The great thing about this place is because it's not a big name place you have better luck to get seats. The only problem is when a group of us went to see a movie they refused to do anything about eight 12 year olds who wouldn't stop talking during the entire movie. We were compensated for our tickets but next time just kick them out. They ruined the movie for the 20+ people sitting around them telling them to stop talking.
This theatre is a dream come true. For those who like a quiet movie going experience (rare these days) then this is the place. Great staff (friendly and helpful), great popcorn, great prices and a great atmosphere for watching films.
Amazing prices for this day and age, only 5 dollars to see a blockbuster on Tuesdays. The screen sizes and audio equipments are pretty decent, but the advantages end there. The films were of a lower resolution than that of Cineplex's, but the differences were not too noticeable. The auditorium we were in attracted a less than desirable crowd, people were constantly talking, coughing, and laughing loudly during the show. Many of the chairs were incredibly squeaky. Understandably this isn't a problem that the cinema could easily solve, but honestly you get what you paid for. If you have the budget to pay a little more, don't come here, even if it's to avoid the type of crowd.
Incredibly friendly staff. The whole cinema has a adorable vintage vibe. You can't beat $5 Tuesdays!!
Cozy and comfy feeling theatre. If you're looking for top quality sound and video this probably isn't your first pic. Staff though is friendly and you leave feeling like you're at a nostalgic movie theatre
Small cinema halls with fewer seats with a feel of private theatre. Great deals on Tuesdays. I never miss a single week. Plus situated in one of the prettiest part of downtown.
As always, great staff who are always helpful. No fills and cozy theatre with low ticket prices. Always be early for shows as the theater is small and you might end up sitting right in front. They have $5 movies on Tuesday...how cool is that?
We had a team event at the location for our work and the staff were amazing. They are friendly and courteous. You would never know the theatre is there or as big as it is plus the movie ticket combos can't be beaten.
Nice and cozy cinema. Has an old look, bringing some nostalgy. The only problem is that you can't buy ticket and reserve the seats. Need to arrive early to ensure a good seat on highly demand movies. Once it's at basement levels, no cell reception, what's is awesome to watch a movie with no distractions.
Great locally operated cinema. Staff are much friendlier and easier to deal with than Cineplex. Threaters are generally never crowded. Prices are incredibly reasonable too. I would encourage anyone to come here if they are playing the movie you want to see and support a locally operated cinema.
Quaint movie theater. Everybody was so nice and helpful. We had to walk 20 minutes to get to the theater and we mistimed our departure so we were 15 minutes late for the show. We got in no problem, bought some tasty nachos & cheese with the jalapenos from the snack stand as well. Repeatable experience.
Terrible food selection, no refills. Popcorn changed from very good, to not worth buying. Bathrooms are often very dirty/unclean, and need to be redone. Cheaper day is okay, but the general experience is not worth full price until the facilities and food is also better. It used to be my favourite place to go, before the management change, when it was cheaper and the popcorn was tasty and refill-able.
How can the snack bar be closed. Seriously!!!! That’s pretty ridiculous. No movie popcorn at the theatres?????????
Always loved this place. Good prices and no 3D which I find annoying. The new recliner seats are absolutely incredible. It was the most comfortable movie going experience I've ever had. Would highly recommend anyone to go have.
Great little theatre. Seats were extremely comfortable; sound and picture were solid; popcorn was crunchy and fairly priced. I prefer it over Cineplex.
Been going here for years. Has the same movies as other theaters, really cheap tickets, and even cheaper on Tuesdays. Snacks are reasonable priced too. You only need $20 if you want to go by yourself. Plus the staff are amazing. Personally, I haven't gone to a Ciniplex in a couple of years because of this place.
I went to see Coco not long ago, and there was a tall bearded man at the concession stand that kept smiling at me. I was with my girlfriend and I asked her if she wanted a popcorn, she said yes so I went to get it. When I got to the stand the employee asked me "what would you like, sir?" and he winked at me when he said "sir". I thought maybe he just had something in his eye, but then he asked me if I wanted a Pepsi and winked again. I left the concession stand feeling confused, but not upset. Overall a great experience but I did not enjoy the Olaf short.
Love the price, the coziness, but most important the professional, patient and kind staff! I was there yesterday when there was a huge group of children at the concession stand and watched the gentleman serving be so kind and respectful with every child and adult. It would have been easy to lose your cool, but he never once had an edge to his interaction with any of the patrons, young or old. Thank you! Looking forward to every visit!
Best one in town! 10$ per ticket only, but the seats are 5 Star level, unlike any of the Cineplex so called VIP that charge 30$ for crappy old seats that wont properly recline unless you push with all your bodyweight and keep holding ;( The only few things missing at Market square - a bar and maybe a wider choice of snacks. Locations is superb, downtown, so bunch of restaurants and bars around. we love you guys and those comfy seats were very much apprecited by my wife during pregnancy too)
What a gem! Being new to the area and with covid we did not know that this place was here. So glad that we were able to check them out. The staff took our safety very seriously and the seats are super comfy. Not sure when we can come again but I hope it stays around.
Great theatre that isn't too busy with people. Popcorn prices are quite reasonable. That said, the theatre screen size isn't as large as Cineplex. Depends if you want a quiet night and don't mind a smaller screen.
Get the seats with the recliners and you will feel like your floating on a cloud!
This place is a gem. I hope everyone continues to respect the facilities, especially the nice leather recliners.
First off, I want to start by saying massive thanks to the Imagine Cinemas Market Square management and staff for keeping the Open Caption showing tradition going for all these years. My girlfriend is hard of hearing and we both greatly appreciate it. The new Lux Rec leather (not sure if real or not but still comfortable) reclining power seats are awesome and I would come here just for them. Staff is always super friendly and helpful as well.
The recent renovations they have done are really nice. I have been going to see movies here longer than I have lived in Toronto, so many memories here!!! The new leather recliners are so comfy and make the movie going experience so much more enjoyable. They decreased the amount of seating per theater, it has more intimate of an atmosphere.
Best movie popcorn in the city, and all the seats are comfy recliners!
Not a VIP cinema but if you like local, small and cozy this is the place. Recliners are a huge upgrade from the 70s style seats.
If you've ever had a less than optimal week, you'll know what saving grace feels like. (TLDR at the bottom) I'd been waiting 1278 days since this movie release date was announced and April 27, 2018 had been marked on my calendar at least a year in advance to ensure, without a doubt, that my evening would be free. I'd seen all 18 preceding movies (my favourites I'd watched 3-4 times). I was caught up on 5 seasons of the side story's TV show. And I'd been checking on their (well-designed and easy to use) website every week before the release to secure a $10 ticket for opening night on April 26. I was excited to see this movie, if I haven’t mentioned that already. On this particular week, my phone had just taken a swim and was sitting idly in a bag of rice (hoping that it would attract Asians to my house to come fix it.) I wasn't sure my iPotato 5 would survive such trauma and I was looking to Thursday night to save my week, perhaps my life. I walked over to the theatre an hour early, took a photo with Bucky Barnes and King T'Challa who were chilling in the lobby (cool meet-n-greet arranged by the theatre) and settled in for this highly anticipated film. One of my favourite things about this particular theatre is the crowd that frequents it. The audience was LIT; there were hella giggles, laughs and snorts during funny scenes and appropriate sniffles, face-wiping and quiet "Nooooo"’s in the movie's (many) gut-wrenching moments. I like this cozy, neighbourly vibe as I often watch movies on my own and I haven't been to a theatre where the movie-goers were this engaged.. (the same can be said of the many other films I've seen here) Long story short (fake news; I’m only halfway through), this movie's ending completely messed with my soul, and if you've seen it, you'll understand how I could somehow lose most of my mental (not to mention emotional or logical) stability and leave behind a fancy wallet with IDs and cash inside, attached to my car key. One night is not enough to recover from watching Infinity War (if you haven't put the pieces together yet) and I hadn't realized my losses until THE NEXT MORNING when I tried to get in the car and drive to work. My mind was still on the movie but I managed to pull myself together long enough to make it to the office where I left a message for the theatre. Phone-less, wallet-less and key-less, I was about to plead the remainder of my soul away to the universe in exchange for good karma when I received a call at work. A KIND SOUL FOUND AND RETURNED MY WALLET TO THE THEATRE (Whoever you are, THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME. May the 4th be with you and may your next plate of nachos will be more spectacular than your last). So on this Friday (one of the best Fridays of my life), I got back my lost wallet from one of the awesome managers, Kalen (he wouldn’t let me pay him and tried to refuse the cupcakes I brought for the staff.. that’s how nice the people who work here are) Side note: I plugged in my phone to find it alive and working again. Hallelujah, the universe works in mysterious ways. Happy Friday friends! And if you haven't seen Infinity War yet, I recommend booking a therapist appointment in advance so you can get some help on how to put your soul back together right away. The theatre is noticeably a neighbourhood classic so granted it could use some upgrades but unless you prefer to spend your 100 minutes hanging out in the hallways, its appearance isn’t an issue. The seats could be more comfortable but you can’t complain when you’re catching blockbusters here for $5 on a Tuesday (can you even get a Starbucks for that?). This theatre has my eternal gratitude and undying loyalty. TL;DR I lost my wallet and car keys at this theatre after losing my mind from watching Infinity War and I got it back the next day because good things happen at this theatre.
Nice homey little movie theatre in downtown Toronto. Great for a date. Lots to do around the neighbourhood before and after the movie. Its not as big and mainstream as Cineplex so do not expect a huge screen. Staff are friendly. Place is clean.
My fave theatre in town. Best price. Great location. Classic theater with no frills.... until now! They have new giant leather fully reclining seats, good thing got better and didnt get more expensive??? Didnt think that happend.
Best cinema in the city change my mind. 1. No signal in a basement so you'll never hear a phone go off. 2. Recliner chairs 3. $10 reg and $7 on Tuesday. Mind blown 4. Popcorn is fire 5. You can go alone and not get judged 6. Friendly staff everyone's awesome 7. Great sounds and projections It feels great supporting the little guys. I love this place!
Intimate, comfortable, and clean movie theatre experience! Staff were friendly and helpful. If you order your tickets online, you have to get a ticket printed at the upstairs counter or at the concessions desk from your email receipt. They don't have a system in place yet for scanning you in off a digital ticket on your phone. I didn't know this going in, but the ticket agent was patient in telling me to go back to concessions to get my physical ticket printed.
Great new reclining chairs at Imagine Cinemas! Only $7. on Tuesdays for the latest movie releases! Great prices on snacks too! We usually go 2-3 times per month.
Favourite theatre! I love how authentic it is inside. I also love that you can play the piano whenever you like. There is always a young man in there on Tuesday evenings playing for tips and he is great! Prices are right and the non-new releases they have are also a huge benefit!
What it lacks in state-of-the-art projection and seating, it more than makes up for in sheer value. First-run movies for $10 a ticket ($5 on Tuesdays!), friendly staff and a pleasingly old-school aesthetic make this a sound choice for moviegoers.
Cool little cinema with comfy seats and different sized auditoriums. Only $10 on most days and $5 on a Tuesday. The popcorn is great, not too salty and concessions are fairly priced.
While I used to call this place 'Rainblow cinemas' there is an old timely essence about this theatre that I'll be biased to. Throw back ambiance, digital projectors and amazing popcorn. Yes, the screens aren't the size of a house and sometimes there are people drinking in the back row (which I avoid) but the experience and price point more than makes up for those shortcomings.
This is my favourite theater from now on! The chairs are super comfy, they don't too you off as much as Cineplex and the whole place smells like delicious popcorn ✌????
Great customer service and very comfortable and safe seats .
Love this theatre! We go as often as we can! Reclining Leather Seats!
Amazing hidden gem in downtown Toronto, right next to the St. Lawrence Market! All the seats are huge chairs and are reclinable and you can extend your legs. You are also able to book tour exact seat, like the good ole days. So no need to rush early to catch a good seat, unlike other theaters which are first-come-first served. It is only $7 on Tuesdays! It’s $12-14 on other days, which is still amazing for the experience you get, sitting in those huge comfy VIP chairs/sofas! Highly recommended experience.
I love this movie theater! The five dollar movies every Tuesday always compel me to see multiple movies in a single night (Movies are also just $7 throughout the summer now). I also love that you get free popcorn refills when you get a large popcorn. The only downsides are that the theaters are often packed on a Tuesday (which has been true for every movie I've seen on a Tuesday) and there's no wifi or reception in the theater for when you arrive early before the movie starts.
The renovations are incredible! They are now my go to movie theatre in Toronto. Their seats are fantastic and it's so affordable. Keep it up!
The people who work here love movies and are super thoughtful and fun. They recently * upgraded all of the seats in all of the theatres and they are big and comfy and have foot rests - it’s awesome. And all of this while being * super affordable with none of the irritating bright running lights on the walls that most big chain theatres keep on throughout a movie. It’s always chill, no stress. * You can buy your tickets and book your seats online in advance which is fantastic. And last minute walking in has never been a problem for me - it’s so easy and nice. * You lose cell reception once down the stairs so make rendezvous plans in advance :)
My favourite cinema in Toronto:) Really great retro feel...growing up outside of Canada this was what I imagined cinemas would look like...80s look, cozy, great prices, $5 Tuesdays (!!) and great decor. Really great experience that soothes the soul. The screen are underground so no phone service which is great to just be fully present and shut out the outside world while letting the movie take you on a journey. Note: screens are medium sized, but the seats are so comfy!!
I loved my experience at Imagine Cinemas! Some of the theaters have mechanical moving seats that are really comfortable and cool. It wasn't my first time going and it most certainly won't be my last.
It's got that classic duplex feel and a (baby?) grand piano at the entrance. Going down the long staircase to the cinemas feels like going backwards through time. The screens aren't huge, but the new digital projectors aren't bad. Seating could be better as I always feel like I'm blocking someone behind me. Bonus stars for great prices and not being Cineplex.
If you want IMAX, 3D or Smell-o-vision, this is NOT the theatre for you. However, the new seating is extremely comfortable and the ability to buy tickets and reserve seats online ($10 for adults, cheaper on Tuesdays) weeks in advance makes Market Square a 5 star venue.
This cinema is definitely not like any other large movie theaters in Toronto because it is rather small theatre compared to other ones. But, it has its own charm and it makes this movie theatre is distinguished from many other movie theatres in the area. The theatre is located near a lot of famous Toronto's points of interest. So, it gives people a chance to do something after seeing a movie at the theatre.
The new fully reclining seats really bring this theatre to the next level. The comfort exceeds even a "VIP" seat for a fraction of the cost. The concession stand covers the basics and pricing is reasonable for a theatre. The picture and sound are unchanged but Market Square Cinema is an unbeatable value. Unless you need in-seat meal service or ear-splitting sound, this is genuinely the best deal in town.
Always love coming here. Cozy atmosphere, popcorn tastes good and prices are great in comparison to Cineplex pricing. Usually has the new movies out so you're able to save some money if you wait a bit after the release date. Very comfortable with their new reclining leather seats and I'm surprised this place isn't more popular. Nothing too crazy in terms of amenities and sometimes their escalators are down but it's a small trade-off for what you get for what you're paying.
This is a good place to catch on some movies when you're on budget. However the savings are not that great! Pros: you can watch a movie for $5 on Tuesdays. Cons: 1) the screen is really small. Seats around 100 people, and the leg space is fine, but don't expect to be walking out once you are seated. 2) old seats - no recline, no head rest. 3) outside food is not allowed (bummer if you are on a budget) Overall verdict: unless you're really closeby, i don't think it makes sense. I would rather spend $8 and go to cineplex on a Tuesday.
Tried seeing a movie here while recovering from a cold, the ticket guy wouldnt let me bring in my tea! Made me dump it out. They don't sell tea so I couldn't have tea during the movie. Pretty sure I was sick for another day because of this experience. Never coming back! :(
I love going to the cinema. It’s not that busy during the day and they have the absolute best seats. It’s like sitting in your living room on a super comfy sofa!
Building seems worn out a bit but auditoriums are well maintained. Recliners everywhere are comfortable for person of any height and built. Will choose Imagine over cineplex anytime.
I like this cinema, small and cosy, and you can get the tickets yourself. They have luxury seating (which as a short person I'm not a fan of, since the headrests force my head and neck forward) but generally decent cinema
This place is awesome!! It has to be the most comfortable movie theatre seat I’ve ever sat in also, my son calls it the best theatre ever cause he also loves the seating there too, and the price is just amazing!!! I love it and definitely recommend it, you won’t regret going.
Great little neighbourhood cinema, love the 5 dollar Tuesdays, feels like being in an oversized living room, with free refills on your popcorn! Would not watch movies here that would be better with imax experience, or very long movies since the screans are not very large, the surround sounds is not the most intense and the seats are not very comfortable.
One of the hidden gems in Toronto for seeing a movie. $10 for a first run movie and $15 for a combo. Best value in Toronto Recently renovated each theatre has reclining seats. The concession has a limited selection but it quite affordable and they don't nickle and dime you like the big chain. All the staff are great.
My Tuesday go-to place, never got disappointed. Mere ambience is worth repeat visits.
Hidden gem in the city. The chairs alone worth the price lol. We come here often(closed right now due to covid, but hoping it will reopen) and hoping to continue after everything is back to normal
The theatre has seen some recent upgrades, including at least three theatres with some real nice fancy POWERED reclining seats with faux leather. I've only been here a few times but it's $10 for reserved seating! $7 on Tuesdays! You can also buy tickets online too--this place is legit! The nachos and cheese are delicious too! No cell phone reception here because it's well underground (like a subway).
Can't beat $5 Tuesdays. Yes the theatre is small but more than sufficient for most movies. We love the free refill popcorn and drink if you buy large! Free popcorn toppers too!
I love this theatre - super clean and actually follows capacity guidelines. All seats are properly distanced and so comfortable in these luxurious reclining chairs!
I've been here a few times and gotta say it's a great place. Cheap and very friendly staff. Smaller screens but that's ok. The popcorn taste a lot better here then at a regular movie theater. Great location too. All around great experience everytime.
I love this Market Square location. The movies are on a basement floor. The popcorn is great and the nachos. The pricing is cheaper then Cineplex. $10.00 for an adult admission. Staff are very friendly and helpful. You get free refills on large popcorn and drinks. This theater also shows documentary/independent films at times. Definately worth the visit.
The theater is in the Market Square basement. Entrance is opposite from St. Lawrence Market. Though the interior feels a little old and the screens may not be the biggest, being able to go to a movie theater downtown for just $10 is a great deal. Besides, the newly installed reclining chairs are so comfortable. As long as you aren't trying to see a movie on the biggest, loudest screen possible, check this place out.
Great little theatre. Still enjoy coming here but i kind of do prefer the carlton location more. They've changed up their lobby to using electronic touch screen booths. To pay with cash you have to go downstairs to the concession stand now.
Small movie place. Insider tip: if you don't go on the first week of the movie release and go later then it's like your private screening room!! Very few people with clean seats and nice screens.
The service was great, the pricing is great, the popcorn was good but the screens are small the seating is really close together so I wasn’t comfortable.Overall not a bad place for a cheap movie.
A nice, low-key cinema, away from the typical glitz and glamour of the Cineplex cinemas. The ticket prices were very reasonable. The seating was spacious, with a reclining function. Highly recommend.
It is a nice place! At first looks old and retro but the cinema rooms are really nice, small with a nice sound system ,and the sits really confortable! If u have the chance you should give a try
This is the only way to watch theater movies nowadays. Maybe I'm getting old, but this theater is my favourite. You don't the giant crowds at larger theaters, which means the place is kept up easier, the staff are friendlier, and the seats and floors are way cleaner. The different theater rooms range in size and number of seats, but number of seats is never too many so you get a truly intimate and quieter setting each time. Plus all the seats are recliners! When you order online you can choose your seats in advance so there is assigned seating and you don't have to worry about where you'll end up sitting. They also have great prices all week, especially on Tuesdays. Can't rave about this enough - hope Imagine Cinemas opens more locations!
It is 5 star when there are no infants and toddlers in the movie. Saw Hustlers on the Saturday it opened and I had this experience. Have been going to this theatre for many years and never has this happen. It is a 1 star on occasions like this. Talk about distracting and not the experience I want when seeing a movie like this, not to mention it is totally wrong to allow it. I will not do this again.
Best theatre in Toronto. Always has the best movies, the popcorn ???? is delicious.
I love the new reclining wide chairs! Last time I forgot my wallet in the theatre and I only realized it was missing an hour later. When I went back they kept it for me in the office. Everything was in my wallet. Money and passport. You guys are an amazing team!
Just watch Spider-Man here. First time I’ve been here since the Reno’s. I’m a weekly movie goer and this was the best experience my girl and I have had at the movies in a while smaller theatre, comfier seats and just an all around vibe. You guys are on to something I WILL be coming back often!
The nicest and friendliest staff, the best popcorn in town and the best prices to see a movie as long as you are not too picky about the size of the theater. A nice, friendly, fun place - enjoy the movie :)
The best theater in Toronto in term of comfort, value of money and the staff are so friendly. If you are from the city, and know this theater I doubt you will ever consider going to Cineplex. The basic is better than Cineplex VIP.
I came here few weeks ago to watch Crazy Rich Asians. My friend is a local and suggested this place. I've never been at this theatre location before. I like the simplicity and old school look of this theatre. I didn't like the stairs, there were a lot of steps (they also had an elevator) but stairs are carpeted and I had semi loose flip flops so I just took them off to walk down the stairs. Just a precaution because I didn't want to fall and there were ppl waiting for an elevator already. The theatre was a bit small and I had to switch seats because a 2 tall ppl sat right in front of me!! Lol. Couldn't find booster chairs for adults so this was the best option... ???? I like that complimentary flavour packets were provided at the concession area, so I was tempted to buy a popcorn combo just so I had a reason to try the flavour packets. This is a great idea!!! The cashier and the staff are pretty good. Overall, I had a good movie experience.
NEW SEATING HAS RUINED THIS CINEMA! I'm not talking about the luxury of relaxation they offer. It's the way the seats are numbered!! Since these seats have been installed, ticket purchasers must choose from available seats as part of their purchasing process. Simple enough. HOWEVER. The seats are numbered on the arm rest, which, for anyone finding their seats in the middle of the row, requires a degree of interpretation. Film screenings always include people who trickle in as the film begins. Every time I've gone to see a film at Imagine Cinemas with this new seating system, the people who arrive late go to find their seats, then end up negotiating - or even arguing - with other audience members about who paid for which seat. Groups who paid for seats in the middle of a row often find themselves shorted one seat, due to groups on either end of them failing to interpret which armrest number belongs to which seat. At this point, the only option is to convince an entire row of strangers to move over one seat, in order to have the seats one paid for. Who wants to do that after a film has already begun?? Who wants to bring their family to a film, only to have this happen??? Beginning a cinematic experience on this tone is a horrible imposition Imagine Cinemas has inadvertently imposed on its clientele. I spoke with a staff member (all of whom are fun and very helpful people), who told me that this problem happens all the time! I wonder why management and owners allow this to persist. I will NOT return until this problem has been amended! I suggest Imagine Cinemas put each seat number number ON THE SEAT ITSELF so no one has to guess which seat they had selected in the purchasing process. Make it OBVIOUS and let the people enjoy the film!!! *** One additional issue is every seats' armrest has a blue light on the inside, which never turns off. This blue light gives the effect of having a smartphone screen in your peripheral vision throughout the film.
Small theatre but with a big heart! Their staff are super friendly right from the ticket both to the manager that said hi to us! They always have the latest movies and its more of a cozy experience than the huge theatres downtown.
Invariably a wonderful place to see a film. Small but intimate theaters, very cheerful and helpful crew. I have seen many first-run movies early in their showings, sometimes even 1st day, in a theater that isn't packed. Oh and did I mention they're very reasonably priced?
Bought a Groupon with popcorn, drinks and admission for 2 people. Never been here before and it was a bit confusing to figure out where to go if just looking at Google maps. It is located in a building with TD, right across the St. Lawrence Market and you can find nearby Green P parking or a public parking lot right around the corner. We got to watch Thor on its weekend release with the Groupon with no issues. The theatre itself is small and intimate but the seats are spacious. It is actually better to sit closer to the front for an unobstructed view. Staff are friendly and helpful. The Groupon deal is highly recommended as the popcorn price for 2 people alone is the price of the Groupon lol. We walked around the St. Lawrence Market afterwards so the $8 parking was worth it.
Super low key cinema with fantastic recliner seats. The cinema was spotless and the staff were very attentive. Very affordable compared to other cinemas. $10 for tickets and great combo deals, couldn't recommend enough. Cant wait to go again.
This theatre is a hidden gem! It's tucked away in St Lawrence market and is the best value movie theatre hands down. For only 10 dollars (even cheaper on Tuesday - I believe 5), it's a casual and no frills experience... but there's perks! The popcorn is not only affordable (6 dollars for a L) but select rooms have RECLINING CHAIRS. It was so comfortable I always felt asleep. I can't imagine ever paying for VIP tickets at Cineplex ever again when I could just come here!!!
We paid for admission to movie and due to technical difficulties we weren't able to see it that day. . They let us watch another movie for free and issued a full refund with our receipt no problem. . Forgot to mention the complimentary passes issued as well that we used the next day for our original choice. . The parties in charge that day gained a repeat customer from someone who usually doesn't go out for movies. . I'll be back.
Very small unknown neighborhood movie theatre. We were 4 persons only watching the movie, seats are super comfortable, we had a good time. Screen is small though
Best little gem in the city!! These new recliners my goodness!!!!
We just went to watch Toy Story 4, and it was amazing! Classic cinema, good quality screens, and the staff it’s lovely!!! Andddd the seats are amazing!!!! This is my new favorite cinema in downtown!!!
Love this movie theatre!! If you are looking for an 80s style cinema feel with great affordable prices - this is the place to go! Tuesday nights are $5 and they even have a student combo promotion currently for Mondays and Wednesdays($16 includes movie, regular popcorn and drink!) It feels like you’re in a basement- don’t expect any mobile phone service at times.... I think that’s a good thing during a movie!!
New seats! They are awesome. Full recline and super comfy. Staff are friendly. Good snacks. What more do you want?
The imagine cinemas have always been my favourite. This location is even bigger than the carleton cinema. What's better is that they have captions for certain movies!!!!! It's an amazing place. Will definitely visit again!
Came here because of the groupon deal. For $22 for 2 people it was decent. The popcorn is good. The screen is smaller than a bigger theatre obviously and the seats not as comfy, but for the price I can't really complain.
The screens are underground which you access via a very long staircase making this a unique movie experience. Theatres are small and dated yet still cozy enough and this reflects in the low ticket price. Best popcorn in town and service has always been with a smile
My favourite theater. Never overcrowded, good price, has a cozier feel and they just installed these big, awesome, comfy reclining seats (and you don't pay more to use them)
I love you guys so much please open again soon! BEST theatre in Toronto hands down!
Went there recently to watch a movie and had a great time! The prices are amazing and way better than Cineplex's prices. $5 for a ticket every Tuesday like how can you go wrong with that!? This place has a nice nostalgic feel to it too and in such a great location! My only complaint is the theatre room seating as your view can be obstructed by someone in front of you. Other than that I love this theatre! I highly recommend checking it out over Cineplex if you live in or near this location.
Ka-wine and Dine at its peak ???? In all seriousness, I love this theater. I'm always here on Tuesdays and now that they've upgraded the seats, the experience is amazing.
This is my favorite place in toronto. I almost exclusively watch movies at this location. I also subconsciously compare all other movie theaters to this one. As soon as you enter the doors you are treated by the smell of popcorn and nachos. The price is a huge plus aswell. I constantly take friends to this location so that they can also experience this old school gem. I can't say enough about this place????????
Comfortable seats. Great staff. Got tickets online. Screen was good sized. Better experience than other expensive theatre.
Absolutely love this theatre! I've been coming to this one even before they got the whole place renovated, great service before and even greater service now. Tickets are cheap and seats are amazing, also staff is incredibly kind and humble. This place is literally my number 1 to-go theatre and I wouldn't choose any other spot. Highly recommend!
Love this movie theatre! It looks old, but in a charming way; there is almost always some local artists paintings/works displayed on the way downstairs to the theatres, and a piano that is accessible for anyone, and is often being played. Add to all this charm from the foyer, quaint (small and cozy) theatre sizes as well! Finish it off with being in a great part of Toronto (across the street from the St Lawrence market) and u have the right mix that makes for 5 stars!
My favourite cinema in the city. Great customer service, tasty popcorn, super clean & comfy reclining seats, and the best price in town for watching new releases.
