I was going to go see a show and then changed my my mind. At the confectionary to buy my ticket.You now have book your seat. A customer came up and commented to me about the seat he picked,several others came in a booked around him so he moved for the peace and quite then he had to move again because now he took someone else’s booked seat.No more first come first served.A new system so they can encourage on line booking.Many times the seats are to uncomfortable,nosy patrons.Thanks but no thanks.Endless reasons why I’ll sit where I want.????????????????????

First time going to this theater (just tan in to grab popcorn to bring home to the kids) but I was super impressed by the girl that helped us, McKenna. She was incredibly helpful and sweet and definitely went out of her way to make sure our popcorn would travel well and not spill. Excellent customer service! Definitely will return, and hopefully see a movie :)

The popcorn here is consistently terrible. The kernals are always so small and crushed, it's almost like they purposefully smash them when scooping them into bags. On top of that, a buck for butter on top of a five dollar bag of corn. Bonkers.

Broken seats, dirty bathrooms and trash everywhere. We were given childrens 3D glasses. We tried telling the staff that the bathrooms were filthy but they said it wasn't their problem. Womens bathroom stalls locks were missing. Absolutely ridiculous.

Popcorn and drinks have refills on larges, huge selection of drinks, expensive, as usual. The seats are pretty uncomfortable. Compared to galaxy, besides the seats, this place takes the cake though.

Love coming to this theatre the chairs are very comfy. At neary the end of our movie there were a few small pauses in the movie or "skips" but they were barley noticeable. The one big issue I had that I think should be fix soon is I did have some problems with the pop machine's. I found myself asking the lady beside me in the other line for a machine if her rootbeer tasted like it had alot of soda in it. So her sipped it and said yes it is but its not to bad and walked away to her movie. In the end I just getting the coke. Thinking on further information it comes to my under standing that since all the different sodas are all coming out of the same tap, there going to dilute the flavor.

Definitely need to upgrade your seating. Compared to other theaters that have upgraded their seating (to include recliner seats) it is very uncomfortable. If I can avoid going here I will, because thier is a much more comfortable option. Time to make a change...

Decent theater for a smaller theater. They have the usual high concession prices but nothing out of the ordinary for a movie theater. Good sound & picture quality and decently comfortable seating. They have a much better selection of movies than the Cineplex theater at Rutherford.

Terrible handicapped seating. Seriously? Right in the very front? Don’t go here if you use a wheelchair or else your neck will be sore for days afterwards. Go to Galaxy at Rutherford mall instead! They have comfortable recliner seats and priority handicapped seating at the very top.

Theater is fine but definitely a rip off! We paid $23 for 2 people no popcorn or drinks. Then go to Costco and see admissions there for same price including medium popcorn and drinks. Why reward Costco customers and over charge people who walk off the street lower prices increase customers. Most people I've seen in a afternoon show is 6 but at your prices I guess that pays your rent?

Getting used to a smaller town theatre. If the box office was not going to be open, then you would hope there would be a min of 4 self serve kiosks. They only had 2. Theatre was nice and clean, seats could use an upgrade to a more modern recliner style. Great place for the family fun movie. But basic compared to AVX or IMAX experience. I was also surprised at the consession lineup.... Between waiting to buy tickets and popcorn, the wait was nearly 25 mins. Save time and buy online if you plan to get concession treats.

This local theatre is attached to one of the biggest shopping centres on Vancouver Island, which makes it a perfect location to relax and see a movie after a day of shopping. The lobby can be entered from inside the mall, or via the outside doors, and is usually clean. Theatre seats are average, but good enough to sit through a 2 hour movie. Staff sometimes seem to rush you out before the credits are finished, but I'm sure they just want to get the theatre cleaned for the next movie.

The best part of this theatre are its prices. It's rather dimly lit, which is odd for such a large open theatre. Most of the interior looks to be quite old and this is really demonstrated by the seats which are stiff and uncomfortable for longer movies. The selection of snacks and beverages is what you'd expect at any theatre but generally less expensive. They offer good discounts on senior's day as well as for kids, so this may be a good positive for you.

The Landmark is a good theater it's in the mall it's convenient to get to it's a nice large theater the chairs are stacked properly for easy viewing and otherwise nobody's heads ever in your way the only thing I found was the armrests are pretty hard so it gets fairly uncomfortable after sitting for over an hour

This theater is in a convenient location, however it is NOT the preferred theater in Nanaimo. It lacks comfortable seats and the popcorn is often sold cold and stale. What does it take to pop fresh popcorn when the mark up is so huge. Come on. The seat rests are sharp and cut into your arms. Even though this theater has some good movies we prefer going to the Galaxy because the seats are comfortable and the popcorn is fresh. Your going to turn off everyone older than 50 if things don't change. Get some recliners.

Been there twice recently due to being invited by friends and not knowing it was at Avalon. First time around I had to listen to a bloody whining ceiling fan or something, and the new seating system is absolute GRIEF for some reason. Who invented this? It's failed both times and we had to go to concession to be able to select the seats next to a friend. I can't enjoy movies fully anymore due to the seats causing my back immense discomfort.

This movie theatre is okay but is second rate to the Cineplex these days. They also don’t seem to maintain their seats well. Last time we went we chose our assigned seats only to find out they were broken. We moved because there were extra seats but would have been screwed if the theatre was full. My son had the same complaint about previous visits.

Stadium seating is great but the seats are pretty uncomfortable. The seats in the Courtenay realto are now the best on the island, and nothing else compares. Screen was good but it's had a smudge on it for some time now. Sound system is great, and sound isolation between screens is excellent. It's generally kept at a nice cool temperature, and I appreciate that. Highly suggest owners look into replacing the seating.

So great to be able to go to the movies again. They have done a wonderful job of keeping up the Covid protocols here. There’s plenty of space between you and other people in the theatre and they have people cleaning the common areas non-stop. I was a little apprehensive to be back out in such a large public space but Landmark did a great job making me feel safe. ???? Thank you.

I've had so many bad experiences here I avoid going to movies altogether if Avalon is the only option; instead waiting for streaming or disc. However Ghostbusters was important enough to me to put that aside and give it another chance. Big mistake! The seats that aren't just flat out broken are incredibly uncomfortable and cramped. The leg room is comparable to an airplane economy ticket, and the armrests are so worn it's just plastic digging into your elbows. The movie sound was so quiet that you couldn't hear most of the movie dialogue over the crinkling bags and chewing sounds. To top it all off, there was a couple people in the back row talking and laughing through the entire movie, making it impossible to enjoy. The popcorn of course is overpriced but it was also nothing but crumbs and mostly inedible. Altogether one of the worst movie experiences I've ever had, and will be avoiding this theatre at all costs (again).

I love the galaxy theatre. It's always going to be one of my favorite childhood memories. They have this All Nighter where you'd go with your friends and stay up all night and run from theatre to theatre. Now I bring my kids there for family movie night or date night with my SO. And we love it. The seats are comfortable and the rooms aren't too far apart from each other and the bathrooms are close to each theatre room.

The movie selection is usually better here, (almost always seems to be the case) but the seats not being recliners sucks. And this could just be my own bad hearing, but when I went to see Alita Battle Angel, I had trouble hearing the dialogue during the movie two days ago. There was only like a couple scenes that seemed to be loud action great bass scenes. Most of the time I feel like when I go to a movie in a theater the sound always seems disappointing for me. I rarely seem to be able to actually hear the sound coming from different directions. I have no idea if I just have bad hearing though or if other people have similar experiences. I also find the 3D is ALWAYS, INCREDIBLY underwhelming. Like, why am I spending 5 extra dollars for 3D when it does basically, NOTHING for me? Again, my vision isn't 20/20 anymore so maybe 3D doesn't work for me anymore, I don't know. But I saw both Bumblebee and Alita and found the 3D almost always didn't seem to do ANYTHING. To be honest, almost ALL 3D movies I've seen have been like this though, my whole life. Other than Avatar I don't recall any other 3D movie being a great experience. I also find 3D glasses can get fingerprints on them if I so much as touch them, and like with glasses I seem to be incapable of cleaning them after they get fingerprints on them. Most of these problems could just be specific to me, so I'm not going to give it a really low score due to that. But the seating is objectively worse than Galaxy. Even if I do find I can't really lay back all the way in their seats because if I do I ALWAYS seem to get seated behind someone with a seat who doesn't lower theirs, and is usually too tall to see over. So i'll end up putting it about halfway down or something. But even that is still better than NO recliners at all.

The movies are decent enough quality but maaaan, everything else is awful. The bathrooms are in shambles, the seats are terrible, and the concession quality is middling at best. I had hoped at least some improvements would have been made while they were closed over COVID but the same stalls were busted from before. That's just laziness. Don't blame the staff though, they're all doing the best they can with what they've got. Management needs to see that the basics are taken care of.

This theatre is a joke. We just saw Endgame and sat in row J in the middle of theatre 7. The chairs are brutal. Armrests seek to be installed upside down (soft cushion on the underside and where you rest your arm on the top is essentially 2 thin painful metal rails. Also where we were sitting the projector didn’t seem to be properly setup and for most of the time it was like sitting under a spotlight, Which was extremely distracting when trying to watch the movie in an otherwise dark room. Overall terrible experience...

It is a pretty good theatre. Come early if you want snacks because you have to stand in multiple line ups. You can however order before you get there using an app called atom I believe and you can skip the line up for ordering and I'm told they have coupons. The staff is friendly.

Between this movie theatre and Cineplex's Galaxy theatre also in Nanaimo, I would go with the Galaxy theatre. This cinema doesn't have the comfy seats like the Galaxy. It is more like a classic movie theatre, but it doesn't go above-and-beyond your expectations. Galaxy definitely does. This movie theatre isn't bad though, don't get me wrong. There is good snack selection and the theatres are usually always clean.

This theater is fairly nice. Really, really high ceilings, nice marketing for the upcoming movies. The concession is always clean and have nice snack options. The popcorn is delicious. ???? They do have reclining seats which is amazing. This new preselection of seats is a little bit awkward. I've been in the theater a few times where a lot of people don't respect the seat has already been purchased, and it causes tension between the people who are going to sit in their selected seats when someone's already in it. As well as you have the people that absolutely stick to the seat they chose and end up sandwiched beside you, and never move over when the seats beside them do not fill up. Lol. I will not buy their gift certificates any longer - they are a scam. I have purchased over $200 in gift certificates for Christmas where I have received their promotion of a coupon book to redeem coupon such as free popcorn, ree movie Admission Etc., Buy a ticket - get a ticket etc. Look very closely at all of the dates on these coupons. They strategically place dates on each coupon listing the date range these coupons are good for. I called the management on this and they said too bad. You are not able to use the coupons until a month or two have gone by from the promotion period, and then they expire shortly after that! So be very wary of getting sucked into their promotional coupons when you purchase a certain amount of gift certificates.

I think I just happened to end up in the 1 theatre out of the 8 there that needs maintenance the most, but the armrests were uncomfortable and it looked like a tiny part of either the screen or projector was damaged. I still enjoyed my movie and basically forgot about those problems while watching it but it could have been better.

Landmark Cinemas is up and running again and it is so nice being able to see movies again! I've gone 3 times in the past month and my only comment is that the chairs could be a little more comfortable (They aren't even that bad though). Other than that it is a great experience and I would highly recommend this theatre!

It is usually understaffed and the line-ups are very long when it is busy. Make sure you go early if you need to buy tickets or food. They should really have a sign indicating that if you have pre-paid your tickets, you can go straight into the theatre and don not have to wait in line to redeem your purchase.

Conveniently located in the mall, this cinema offers stadium seating and a good, family friendly environment. The ticketing service was concise and organized, with several different options for obtaining tickets. The concession was expensive, as with every movie theater! But... There's a perk! If you keep your large popcorn after the showing, you can get a free refill! The theaters are clean and have plenty of seating. However, the seats have certainly seen better days. The arm rests do lift, in case you were wondering.

Cinemas screening facility at rear side of Woodgroove mall. Has multiple screeninghalls with pretty good settings and hi-tec audio sound effects. Can buy tickets online or in the counters at entrance. As they screen various movies it is better to check the timings of the show to save your time. Snacks are miderately expensive as like the same trend everywhere. Heard at times they also show movies of other major languages of the world like Hindi (Bollywood) movies.

Went during Reno's which was totally find staff whwrebfriendly and helpful. How ever the theater its was sold it had a bad small too it, there was a number of broken seats, that are very out dated, extremely uncomfortable to sit for duration of a couple hour movie. The arms rest there was no cushion left, just flat from over use. I left pretty stiff and sore. The bathrooms were clean and not to bad. For comfort wise I wouldn't go there again.

After not being able to enjoy a movie in quite some time thanks to stupid Covid it was nice to finally get out. We went and saw the new James Bond movie, we were greeted at the door by a Covid vaccination checker, the theater was not overrun at all, the popcorn was fresh, the drinks were good, there was a games room and plenty of bathrooms. Overall it was a good experience minus the ads that ran repeatedly before the movie.

Sound system is constantly poor with very low dialog volume and clarity. It can be in the middle of an action scene but you wouldn't know it by the audio output as you can hear a pin drop, or a person five rows back eating their movie nachos. (slight exaggeration for effect) This is ridiculous. You can barely hear dialog sometimes, even in low action, plot heavy dramas and it ruins the experience. Maybe the older demographic has complained over the years to the staff so much that the movie was too loud for them and they just leave the audio system in safe mode. As others have mentioned, some theaters have humming rear/ side surround speakers for months now without improvement but I can usually ignore that. I often run out during the beginning of the film to see if they can make an adjustment but its almost never changed. Once I was told that they sometimes don't restore the sound settings after a church group uses the theater. It's a shame because the staff are great, location is great and the movie selection is the best in town. They just need to make some capital expenditures to bring it into the modern age. Look at Galaxy Cinema with their new power reclining seats, better legroom and most importantly, consistent reference sound performance! -sorry their popcorn is better too. As it is I make a pilgrimage to Silver City in Victoria for the big marquee releases and Imax shows.

Worst movie going experience ever. The movie started 15 minutes late. There was no audio. The movie was stopped. The audience sat in complete darkness for over 10 minutes. The lights came on, and about 15 minutes after that; the manager came in to tell us there would be no show!

I Can't Stop Thinking About Tony

There are two movie theaters in Nanaimo. You'll get either an "oh!" or an "oh." based on which one everyone finds out a highly anticipated release will open at. This is the 'oh.' theater - the sound of disappointment because the "oh!" theater's recent seat upgrade has only helped to underline how bad and broken anx out of date landmark's is. With lots of movies clocking in at 3hrs+ these days, even a healthy bodied person is going to suffer, and I haven't been able to go to a night at the theater w/ a friend in years at this theater because her husband's joint issues mean he is put in too much actual, physical pain here for even the shortest feature length movie.

Saw Finding Dory today and what a good experience it was. There were a few little children in the audience that weren't having such a great time but the parents were respectful of others and the disruption was minimal. The seats were a bit wiggly in a couple of places but overall the space (6) was pretty comfortable. The movie was awesome and for a sequel the writing, animation and acting was every bit as good as the first one. Well done Pixar!

The movie itself was good. And the staff were friendly and helpful. Despite this I'm still giving the theater a bad review The seats themselves are uncomfortable and falling apart, the cushions are almost nonexistent as it's been so long since replacing The bathrooms are in horrible disrepair. Burnt spots, graffiti and broken doors and locks. My wife stated that three of the six stalls were basically unusable. I like going to movies, but this theater makes me think about how much I want to see one, theaters should be an experience, but not in this kind of fashion

It's a theater in the woodgrove mall. The seats are comfy and the place is clean including the washrooms. The staff is friendly. The great thing about it it has many showings from morning to evening for the popular movies. So you can do your shopping, see a movie and still be home for dinner. Make a day of it and see two movies.

We do not like the new requirements to select your seats before going into the theatre. It is terribly inconvenient when you are meeting up with people at the theatre but not arriving at exactly the same time to purchase tickets and select seats together. We were just there yesterday and when I politely mentioned to the manager that we did not like having to preselect seats he just shrugged. I will only be going to Galaxy in the future. It is a much better theatre.

So we went to see spiderman. Half way through the movie, the movie glitches and a guy came in saying it will take a few minutes to fix, but we will get movie passes after. The movie ended 10 damn minutes ago, and they are "getting passes ready" Most people have given up waiting. This is garbage, they are just betting against everyone's impatience so they won't have to give out passes.

I love this place go, here all the time. The service is good, they are quick on getting the sitting areas clean and ready for you well before your movie begins. My only complaints are that some of the seating is outdated and doesn't have lifting arm rests, and the concession prices are high.

This is a decent size theatre, but it’s dated now. Reserved seats are available, but the seats are not the power recliners like the Landmark Cinemas in lower mainland. There’s a small arcade area for kids to spend some time and the theatre is connected right into the mall, which is convenient. An update of the interior and seats will certainly be welcomed.

Big screens and big sound, I'm not sure but I believe they pump the smell off buttered popcorn in to the theatre randomly throughout the show. Very narrow aisles Worst seats in Nanaimo, very uncomfortable seats, & the arm rest have no cushioning

The 3 Star rating comes from the fact that they offer free refills on large pop and popcorn; plus they have that new coke dispenser with 100s of flavours. However, the seating is super old and pretty uncomfortable, no arm or leg room to speak of. Now, I know that not everyone is hard of hearing or deaf, but it would be nice to have decent equipment that will allow people, like myself, to enjoy the movie. Their headphones are ancient and most times are full of static. Once, it took 3 tries to get one that worked properly. Hopefully, sometime in the future this will change, until then I stand by my rating.

Seats were very uncomfortable for a 3 hour movie.

The seats are really uncomfortable. The arm rest for the seats are build wrong and they put the padding side on the wrong side of the arm rest which means your arms are resting on uncomfortable hard plastic the whole time. The staff said they have known about it for many years and yet the problem sill hasn't been fixed.

Theatre doors were closed but handsome youngman opened door. Arrived at 1025PM. I missed the last ferry. I only had cash and they had closed their tills already. I watched Baby Driver because it was 112mins. They couldn't serve food or drinks because the tills were closed but I asked that if I accidentally spilled my drink would they replace it, Young man spoke to the manager, and he said to have a drink. Best customer service! Thank you! You made my evening better! Less time spent sleeping in my car! XO from the bottom of my heart, God bless.

Staff are great, broken down uncomfortable seats are not. Won't return to this theatre until they have upgraded and replaced the seats.

I would not recommend to anyone. My daughter has never been to the movies and she finally got the chance with her class but sadly due to a emergency trip to childrens hosp days prior she missed the cut off by the school for popcorn and drink so my husband drove to nanaimo today to personally buy her popcorn and a drink to be told all the kids were given popcorn and a drink. He again explained and they said ya teachers can be like that but he can gaurantee all kids were given popcorn and a drink and to not worry. Well they lied she got nothing. She came home and asked why didnt dad come as she waited and was told she cant have anything unless someone came to pay. So thats was my daughters first experience at the movies she was so distracted by looking for dad to pop in like he said he would and she also was upset that everyone around had something to eat but her. When i did call to report to the manager she said her staff would never say anything as certain as all kids and her staff would not have known about every pre order and that my husband must have miss understood what the staff were saying. When i asked if she would like that staff member pointed out so she can talk with him she said she wouldnt go that far. Way to ruin it for a child with lies then say it couldnt of happend.

I don't like this new thing of having to pick ur seat before u go in the theater. I like to go in select where I want to sit. Size up the scenario..I may not want to sit next to someone that's wearing heavy perfume or someone whose just had a smoke or some other reason. And if I want to change chairs I have to come out to do so? Or move & hope the person whose seat I may have sat in doesn't come in. I like to go to the movies to relax.....

The staff here are friendly and efficient. The place is usually always clean. I find the seats a little uncomfortable sitting in them for a whole movie.

Saw a 3D movie. Rather comfy and love that we can reserve our seats in advance, instead of the scramble to find an empty couple of spots. We had to wait in long line ups a few times. To get tickets, to get popcorn, a separate one for drinks, for the washroom and to enter the theater section. Next time we will purchase our tickets on line and get there earlier. All that a side, it was a very nice movie experience.

Usually pretty clean and fairly comfortable seats. No recliners like cineplex but they get different movies so it balances out. They have one of those drink machines where you can choose one of like 200 options. Also have pretzels if you were wanting something other than popcorn.

Since I don't like putting my head back onto where others have put theirs, the seats were very uncomfotable...forcing my head to be kept forward creating a strain in my neck, which became quite painful. The tops of the seats have a bulging, a protrusion which is unavoidable unless one rests one's head back onto it. In my opinion, they are a bad, uncomfortable design.
