I feel bad for rating it only 3stars but I went to see a movie last week and there was a girl in front of me, not that tall and she covered big part of the screen with her head. There were just simple seats left. Given the small room I was embarrassed to try to brake me from the seats I then asked the manager to help me. He replied that it was up to me to do so, no help was offered. He even added that I should have hurried. My kids wanted popcorn and I'm a single mom so no one to book our seats. I felt very insulted. With its off the beaten track location, this little cinema is perhaps the most interesting movie theater in Montreal. It presents an eclectic selection of international and Canadian movies that are seldom shown in the commercial theaters. In its three small rooms, more than half a dozen different movies are shown each day (with French subtitles when necessary). They also occasionally program opera, dance, or theater performances from Europe. There is a small coffee shop, small but it creates a pleasant atmosphere. Check this theater out, it is definitely worth the detour!

On y va voir du ciné français, italien iranien etc . Lieu qui héberge aussi d’autres entités cinéphiles qui ont leurs propres comptoirs leurs propres billets et prix. Ce n’est pas sans semer la confusion. Il manque clairement à ce cinéma de revoir leur gestion des horaires, réinventer son système de vente des billets et installer du personnel moins revêche âge l’entrée, y a des jours on y va vraiment à reculons.

Great small cinema if you are looking for movies other than blockbusters. It doesnt smell of popcorn everywhere and the crowd is more "mature". Its not too hard to reach by public transport if you don't have a car. Nice place for dates. There are quite a few nice restaurants and bars around as well which makes it a nice combo. We need to support our local cinemas more if we want to continue to be able to watch something other than superhero movies or jurrassic world on a large screen!

The Beaubien is one of the last independent neighbourhood cinema in Montreal and for that I would like nothing better than to love it but poor management and terrible customer service makes it totally impossible. There is only one ticket booth, outside the theatre, and endless cues in rain, shine or -35C winter weather is the norm, internet tickets must be picked up from the same booth, the managers working the doors makes a point of treating all customers with utmost disdain, seating is awful, it does not honour multiple entry cards from Cinema du Parc (same owner) and the programmation is very uneven with a strong inclination for french romantic comedies and stinkers inexplicably staying on for weeks on hand. A sad thing really, Montreal needs a few good independent cinemas.
