The Theater: Heaven on Earth. The Staff: By far, the greatest human beings to have ever lived. Also, they are absolutely NOT RACIST. I can't emphasize that enough, NOT AT ALL RACIST. The staff embraces all races and creeds with all their hearts. If you ask for a hug, you will receive one, not so long as to be creepy, but just long enough to be emotionally satisfying. Price: The ticket prices are so low, I spend all day, every day, there. It's cheaper than paying rent on an apartment.

Prices are pretty low at this movie theater. However if you drive to this location you must pay for parking because it is downtown after all. The location overall is pretty clean, but the bathrooms are in the basement. And the bathrooms happen to be a little old school, and run down.

Amazing pricing (comparatively anyways, since movie and concession prices are absurd everywhere), somewhat lousy seats, and smaller screen. I do recommend it but the location is awful. Bring a car that you won't cry for if it gets stolen or you come out and find your doors and wheels gone.

You can watch movies at a very low price here. Except the main screen rest of the screens are pretty small. If you are looking for an experience you will not get here but again you can't complain because of the price. The area surrounding this place can be shady in the evening. You can take your snacks in your bag as they hardly check.

The rundown of a place but the overall if you're looking for a place to go watch a movie on the big screen check out the theater 1 and 2 at the Town 8 cinema and they got some good old-fashioned seating and it's only about $5 to get in to watch a movie and popcorns reasonably priced to all in all I had a good time Towne 8 Cinema my give it about three stars

I like Towne 8, they show new movies at a great price and no line ups! Plenty of good viewing seats and concession is cheaper. 2 people can see a movie for $30 ....$22 on Tuesday. Scotiabank and St. Vital is $50 and I've had worse viewing experiences at those theatres, people talking/commenting, have a smelly person sit next to you. The screen sizes are smaller as well as the theatres themselves, seats are like anywhere else as is the popcorn. They also have a special on Wednesdays and Sundays. Enjoy your movie :)

Cheap tickets, close to shops and boutiques in the Exchange District and great staff. Everyone assumes it's shady cause it's downtown and cheap but I hope it doesn't close. We lost the Globe Theatre at Portage Place and it was a gem so let's support Towne Cinema and their cheap tickets :)

Ok lets start with 5 stars. Winnipeg last discount priced theater is Landmark Cinemas Towne 8. You won't find a more affordable ticket price in the city. So the upcoming Star Wars movie. Half the price. So you can see 8 Star Wars movies for the 4 times elsewhere. Being a family person this is a huge factor for us. Now with lower prices you don't get any modern thrills but I grew up with this so all I care about is a night out for the movie. The popcorn and drinks are the same price, you do get free refills with certain sizes. Make sure to go to early show or the concession stand will be closed and no refills. Parking downtown is free after 530 pm so your good to go. 2 hours free Saturday. Current movies, 3D. Not crowded. Its another hidden gem for Winnipeg.

We just tried to go see Endgame at 12:00pm. We had to wait outside for over half an hour until she finally opened the doors at 12:10pm. The movie had already started. There was only one worker. She was probably stressed out to hell with all the pressure on her. This place needs more workers like her that will actually come in. Even the manager didn't come in. I have been here before, but will probably not come back for a while. (When I say a while, I mean until the next showing at 2:00pm)

The theater itself is a bit run down, but has an old kinda rustic feel to it. The matinee seats are EXTREMELY affordable and I will always go here for an inexpensive movie release. 4/5 because of ticket price, but it lost a star because the concessions are twice the price of the actual movie seat. This is an older theater in the heart of Winnipeg. We saw a movie on Friday night for just over $5. Parking is available on the streets surrounding the theater. All staff we interacted with were kind, easy going, very approachable, helpful and very pleasant. You get the feeling like you are part of their family and they are happy to have you there. The theater seats are the older style with wood backs, but comfortable. I'm not sure if all the theater rooms have the same layout, but the theater room we saw the movie in had about ten rows. The women's bathroom was very clean. I would go here again and again, for the price and the feel goods you get from the small hometown treatment. A true gem.

Admission pricing is great. However, it comes at the cost of smaller screen and softer sound. You will be able to see and hear the movie just fine -- it's more than appropriate for watching romcoms and dramedies. If, however, you wanna watch the "big blockbuster" action movie, I'd go see that at Cineplex. Location is bit of a turn off but the cinema has a charm. I like the retro vibe.

It's what myself and my family referred to one of the 'cheap' theaters for newer releases [only fairing slightly better than Northgate Cinema] in the city. Some portions of the theatre need some serious revamping, but other than that? A decent place to see a movie with friends and family. Recently went to see Venom and I had no complaints on my end.

Landmark Cinemas Towne Cinema 8 is situated at the heart of Winnipeg and offers eight cinemas showing between six to eight different movies at a time. Prices are surprisingly low. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Most areas are clean and properly maintained. It's definitely the place to go if you stay in downtown Winnipeg and want to watch a movie.

Honestly you are bound to have a drunk in at least one theatre. Best popcorn and staff like to chit chat. I dislike that when I went to see a movie Jerry Seinfeld was there and payed the theatre to not have anyone see anything so they are a bit crooked. Had to see a movie elsewhere. Celebrity or not I still want to go see the completely different movie then Seinfeld saw.

Old theater. Regular.seats, no stadium style tiered seating. But seats comfortable and in good repair. Everytime someone opened door lights up whole theater. I think it was actually staff who kept checking throughout movie. Movie off to rough start. First we watched commercials and then the beginning of the wrong movie. Then they stopped that and started new commercials......and then no movie started this time. We had to go and ask them to start movie. The staff were all visiting. So not too impressed.

It's downtown. For many Winnipeggers the location alone is a non-starter but this theatre is every bit as good as any other. There's never a crowd, you can park free on the street, and the tickets are half as expensive as suburban theaters. I don't see movies anywhere else.

Awesome popcorn made fresh with butter extra (worth-it) and good staff. Save about at least $20 from the other theatre prices. You can’t blame the theatre for the downtown scum bums so park you car on Notre Dane Ave instead of Princess St. (be smart and don’t leave valuables in sight). Downtown will never be safe unless we support it and frequent it.

The architectural & color design have always been a comfort to me. Staff are always friendly or interesting to look at. Have been going there since the late 70's, so the majestic , yet lived in Towne 8 will always have it's reverence for me. I hope it endures!

Where to start with this place.... I guess if you want to save a few bucks then it can't be beat but realistically what you save you pay is your own safety. Went and watched The Nun here a week ago. Parking was only paid street parking with unclear directions on how to pay. Got into the movie and seen that there was a bunch of underage kids attending a rated R movie. No ushers are here so you are on your own if you have any complaints. Some homeless looking guy kept eyeballing my gf and remarked on her purse a couple times until I threatened him. Last but not least the bathroom is downstairs in an isolated area with no security. The state of it and the individuals in the bathroom were scarier then the movie that I came to see.

The time capsule vibe is part of the charm, but it’s still not the most comfortable or convenient place to see a film. Something’s always broken, it seems like and at least one entrance is always locked, but the staff are generally pleasant and they show movies that no other theatres will take a chance on.

I come here at least 5-6 times a month for 2 years now and it's one of my favourite theaters in Winnipeg, the staff here are great but can be q little understaffed from time to time but its still good. The pricing is really good especially if you go on a Tuesday which you get a medium popcorn, drink and a ticket for 12$. I dont think I'll stop coming here and if you come here make sure to use the washroom at your own place.

Admission pricing is great. However, it comes at the cost of smaller screen and softer sound. You will be able to see and hear the movie just fine -- it's more than appropriate for watching romcoms and dramedies. If, however, you wanna watch the "big blockbuster" action movie, I'd go see that at Cineplex. Location is bit of a turn off but the cinema has a charm. I like the retro vibe.

At $5.19 all in for a ticket how can you go wrong. Parking was OK and free (7pm). Not many people in most theaters so had our choice of any seat in the house. Staff was friendly. Popcorn and pop pricing is ok as well. Gonna go more often to this cinema for sure!

The ticket price is good but the line to go in is long we missed the show we were going to see waiting in line but were able to see it in 3D in another theater I don't think that it has been updated in a long time the seats are the old style so not that comfortable and the screen is smaller then most of the other theaters it was the first time l had been in 20 + years hasn't changed much the 3D was cool

I love Towne 8. It's the best theatre in the city. The movies are super cheap, the popcorn is delicious and the bathrooms are always shockingly clean. I love playing with the claw machine and all the gachapon machines in the basement.

Excellent value! Although the number of screens is slightly less than the big theatres, you can't see a movie for cheaper anywhere in the city. $5.19 regular price, or $7 for 3D on a Tuesday. Plus, there's rarely anyone there, so even for big blockbusters, you won't be fighting with a line or struggling for a good seat.

The most affordable theaters for new release movies in Winnipeg, costing roughly $25 for two adults, 1 large popcorn and 1 large drink (which comes with a free refill for both) making it easy to bring the whole family without costing an arm and a leg. It's hard to beat their prices. There is plenty free parking outside, the establishment is clean and the staff if always courteous and friendly. I have been coming to this theater for years and believe I actually saw my first theater movie here as a child. I would highly recommend it as is one of the last downtown theaters and has been a landmark of Winnipeg for years. Forget the extremely overpriced American franchise theatres with seat kickers and unfriendly staff. Support your local theater where it makes a difference in the community. If you dont support them, one day they may be gone. I have notice another review state that they had to pay for parking but I have never had a problem with finding free parking just outside.

Towne Cinema offered a good selection of movies. The screens are smaller then the larger theaters, but it does the job. It has been a long time since we attended a movie at this location, but you can't beat the prices for movies, popcorn and drink deals. Oh yah free refill on large popcorn and drink, where can you get that at any other location. Staff very friendly and professional. The theater's and washrooms very clean. We will definitely be coming back for our monthly movie night out. Yes location may turn one off, but the neighborhood is as safe as anywhere else in the city.

The place is pretty outdated but really cheap. Honestly don't recommend going unless you have a family outing where it makes sense to go a bit cheaper considering how many people you're going to be paying for. Because lets be honest after getting the tickets and all your snacks it can be pretty expensive at some places... Scotiabank Theatre on St James. I recommend Cineplex in Grant Park Shopping Center.
