Loved it! So much fun! A good mix of cartoons, commercials, "heritage Canada", etc. Some I remembered (Scooby Doo! Bravestarr!), some I heard of but never watched (Mach 5 something or other?, ProStars), And some were completely new to me (Frankenstein and the Impossibles). The commercials didn't age well at all - "girl" toys featuring "dream phone", which looked like pre-recorded messages from guys targeting the tween market (creepy, much??), And "boy" toys featuring the Alien Queen (the three girls I brought with me universally declared it looked much more interesting). From a sociological pov, though, they were all amazing. The theatre itself is cozy with a real alt-art fun vibe. 10/10 - totally doing it again!

The theater itself is nice and the seats are comfy ! Love the idea of being able to have a beer or cider while we get ready for the movie ! The price per ticket is also a good and the screen itself is nice to watch ! The food however was not so good ! This was our first time there so not sure if this was an off night but the fries with the burger tasted like fish ( same fryer I assume) and not crispy, instead were soggy. The burger itself was also slightly cold. The nachos ordered were mediocre and poorly topped, especially for a menu item labeled as "loaded". One last thing that would make this place even better is if the bar service continued through the movie. I would go back but would not order any food again!

I love this theatre! Tickets are only $11 and they serve beer and wine. The first few rows of seats have a large amount of legroom and tables. Everything is new in the theatre including the impressive Christie Digital projector and sound system. Not a barrier free accessible business.

Love this cinema. They gutted an old cinema and put in top-of-the-line digital projector, screen and sound. They removed every other row of seats in the back third of the theatre and put in tables; so you get tons of leg room, convenient table (should be shorter though - I can't figure out why the tables are so tall, but anyway, minor complaint). They serve local craft beer and cider. They show both second run and classic films. Tickets are way cheaper than a big-box cinema. They have good 3D digital for just $3 premium. On weekends they sometimes offer all-you-can eat cereal while watching Saturday morning cartoons, and in the evening have dinner service right at your seat. Check 'em out!

Went to "Tap Takeover - Shaun of the Dead feat. Abe Erb". We bought and printed tickets ahead of time which was very easy from their website. Had a great time! Got seats with a table and plenty of leg room. Seats were very comfortable; my back usually aches at movies, but not here. Servers were great and very friendly! BBQ bacon burgers were amazing, enjoyed the fries and the onion rings were the best we have ever had! The beer was great as well from Abe Erb! Our favourite: 1857 Kölsch, but also enjoyed Apollo IPA. We're glad be bought memberships!

Awesome fabulous cinema! Not only do they serve booze at the concession stand (!!), but they have their own super-cool merch AND they show cool old movies (like The Lost Boys) where the audience yells fun interactive phrases with the screen. I attended my first show there recently and will ABSOLUTELY be back for another one shortly. An absolutely amazing cinema! 11/10 recommend this place.

So I have never been here to watch a movie but for church. Risen city church ( name of the church) meet there every Sunday at 10am for their service. Wonderful time of worship and an insightful message every time. Loving community of young people and young parents. Felt at home the first time we went (5 months ago) and have been going ever since. Best independent theatre around. Staff are always polite and amazing. Membership is a must for regulars (pays for itself after less than 3 visits). Free movie nights for members and fun meal partnering for special nights (but would be nice for food to be warmer). Tons of free parking nearby. Great movie offerings and double bills for a discount.

I went for the all day Lord of The Ring extended edition marathon (almost 14 hours) and it was an awesome experience. The chairs were big and comfy, and we had a table for our stuff. The aisles are big enough that you can walk by people without them having to squish in, like at other chain theatres.

This is among my favourite places to see a movie. Love doing a double-header for $11. Plus, I get to order a burger, salad and drink from my seat in the theatre and have it delivered to my table. Yes there are seats with tables. Buy a membership for discounted tickets and 10 per cent of all concessions. There is always a selection of local craft beers on tap too. Most recently saw Bladerunner 2049.

Outstanding local move theatre. My fave movie theatre in the city. They only have one screen but they use it well. This theatre does everything from the Junos, to b list movie bingo nights, playing some classics (indiana jones trilogy anyone?), and making fun events. You can get beer or wine with your movie, some pretty decent hot food, the best theatre popcorn in town without breaking the bank on popcorn, and well priced movie candy (usually 4$ an item for the same stuff you'd buy at the big theatres). Leg space is outstanding no matter where you sit in the theatre and some of the seats have a table in front of them for if you've ordered hot food.

Apollo is such an awesome local theater! There is a great variety of films, as well as themed nights (eg. Drunk Feminist Film Night), and the concession provides a unique variety of options not seen at conventional theatres! Plus there are free refills on large pop or popcorn which is awesome!! It's my favorite theatre. It's quaint, shows a great variety of movies, and the seating offers immense amounts of leg room. It's a very authentic theatre. You can grab some beer, coffee/tea, popcorn, and other snacks from here as well. Oh and the membership is worth the few dollars - you'll break even within a handful of movies. Give it a shot!

A great place to catch a movie! You can get a yearly membership for cheaper prices on movies and other perks here and there. They play a lot of really great old movies, some independent events, and even have free movie nights! The theatre has been altered to have wider rows, and the back half even has tables between the seats! It's perfect for a date night, or a night out with the gang! :)

This is my all-time favorite theatre. Only one screen, but they always get a few big hits every year. The staff are always friendly and they have great deals with Groupon! There are tables at some of the seats so you can buy and eat food prepared by nearby local restaurants. The themes nights are super fun too, and it can get really busy during those times, but when it's your average weekday night, it's never too busy.

Small, cozy, niche cinema at the heart of downtown Kitchener. Not a lot of show times, but often plays interesting movies that you don't get at regular big cinemas. Seats are comfortable with a table. You can order food and drinks (incl. alcohol beverages). Membership fee is reasonable as you get a free birthday movie. Students always get a discount.

Also worth checking out is their special nights -- such as election night (didn't like the outcome but the venue was amazing) and the upcoming Oscar night -- admission is free, atmosphere priceless

This place has a small street-facing profile, so I didn't expect much walking down the stairs. There's a smallish food and beer space on the right, then down a short hallway to a beautiful, larger than expected screening room. I can't say enough good things about this place. The Apollo theatre is a single-screen cinema with an interesting, constantly changing selection of movies. Fewer big blockbusters than the usual movie theatres, but if you're interested in classics, current movies, or theme nights/weekends (James Bond marathon, anyone?) the Apollo is the place to go. They offer all the standard snack options, and a couple of extra perks like a liquor license, actual honest-to-goodness leg-room at the seats(!), tables at the seats so you've got somewhere to set down your beer, and some really unique events like their Apollo's Feast nights on Friday & Saturday evenings, when they offer delicious dinner options from the Mercury Cafe at your seat in the theatre.

Great little theater to see the movies you missed when they were in the big chains. People are there to actually watch the movie. No phones or chatting during the movie. I think it's all Christie technology so the video and sound is really good. It's not my preference, but I can actually watch 3D movies at this theater and not leave with a headache. Huge amounts of leg room, it's almost impossible to kick or bump the seat in front of you. Little table to set down your beer or treats. They do some really great mini festivals and show some great older movies from the 80s and 90s. Only knock, I'd get a membership if they went digital and kept a record in case you lose your card.

I love the Apollo! They program an eclectic mix of movies, some big blockbusters (later in their runs), but also smaller indie movies that are harder to find on the big screen. It's a licensed venue and you can take your drink to your seat. The back half of the theatre has tables and more than ample leg room. The popcorn is always good :) And they often program really fun and unique events like Christmas TV specials, or special viewings is movies on their anniversaries. Definitely worth checking out!

What a gem this theater is!!! I never even heard of it until I got a good deal on Groupon and saw it was playing a movie that was no where to be found (Parasite). I had no idea what to expect with regards to the concessions and comfort of the seating but I was pleasantly surprised with everything. The vibe the place has is AMAZING. It's like going back to a much simpler and (in my opinion), better, time. The staff was super nice and the popcorn was fresh and tasty. The old school movie posters were a great touch and also were the comfy seats and little tables you got if you sat in the upper half of the theater. Everything was clean and tidy and I just absolutely loved it. Will definitely be returning!!

Great place. If you go a few times in a year, get a membership. Selection of beers and ciders. Note that they tend towards an early alcohol cutoff (3 beers or so). Comfy seats. The back half the theatre has littpe tables. A small menu of food by the Mercury Cafe with table service is available Thu-Sat. Lots of neat events and viewings. Movie selection that is a little more indy than the big theatres, but more mainstream than the Princess theatres. Standard popcorn for ~$5 a bag. The main way to get there involves going down stairs. For wheelchair access, go into the office tower for the elevator.

This place is great for date nights! Their beer and cider selection is very nice and no matter whether you like bitter, sour or sweet, you'll find something you like. And the movies are always changing, a lot variety! And they always have cool events like free movies for members, drinking games night, marathons and many more! The popcorn taste just right, the staff is friendly, the chairs are comfortable and the table is just the cherry on top! Membership is only $10/year and it comes with a lot of perks. Cute local cinema. They have craft beer, popcorn and cookie dough. The cinema itself has small tables for your snacks, and enough space between rows that no one can kick the back of your seat. Staff were enthusiastic, and really seem to enjoy working there. I do recommend.

Its actually a nice quiet cinema tucked away in downtown kitchener. The screenings are quality and the seating is clean and spacious. The service makes the experience so good too.

A true gem. Not quite the arthouse cinema fare you would expect from the princess but more focused on film for film lovers. The classics played here are excellent, vary in genre for all tastes. The staff is wonderful. A large selection of seats have tables and more leg room than you can know what to do with. The theater is very spacious and I felt much safer seeing a movie here than at cineplex during this pandemic.

Edit since going during covid: Staff are working very diligently to sanitize and keep this place safe. Buy tickets in advance and select your seats. Seats are marked to stay vacant to allow for social distancing. You can feel safe here, knowing how hard everyone is working. I would give more than 5 star if I could. Great work Apollo Wonderful staff; best popcorn around. Super clean theater and washrooms. Their digital projector is amazing! And the admission is super affordable.

I went to see Spiderman: Far From Home today and it was super pleasant. I used a 2 for 1 coupon the Apollo gave out at the Kitcheners Market that expired today and they still accepted it and it was glorious. I've been here only twice now and it's awesome. Would reccomend.

Amazing place to check out! It’s very cheap especially if you are a student. Old school looking theatre. The chairs are comfortable and you have tons of leg room and even a table for you to put your food and drink on. Only thing is it’s downtown so you might have to find parking and walk but it’s worth it.

tl;dr: Great theatre for film enthusiasts, come extra early. The theatre itself has a cult following. As a newcomer, I was mostly impressed. The crowd that comes cares about cinema and it was my first time in a silent theatre in years. (In Toronto standard practice is to maintain conversation through every film) so this was a good experience. Being able to grab beers during a film is excellent and typically only available at TIFF or the ridiculous "VIP" screenings of films at Cineplex theatres. The only downside is that the place is clearly understaffed, I waited in line to get into the theatre about 20min beacuse there was just one guy at the gate. With that said, they did delay the film to accommodate and that's service big theatres will never provide.

Beats the pants off big box theater. Very cost appropriate, especially with membership. Great tables, space, comfortable chairs and way better food. You can actually get real food! Not always the best movies but when they have one you really want to watch, you won't regret it. It's a gem of a theater that I hope is still around in decades to come.

A great little theatre that deserves your support. Staff is extremely friendly. Drinks are reasonably price. Food was delicious however it is on the more expensive side( 2 beers & 2 chicken sandwiches with sides came to about $50) Will be back again!

Great cinema.Screen and sound are top notch. Really comfortable seating with tables and tons of legroom. Good selection of craft beer in the lobby and hot food on some nights. And all at a fraction of the cost of the multiplex! One of my favourite haunts in DTK.

This is the best place to see a film in KW. Food and drink, comfy chairs, no crowds. I'm almost afraid to tell people about it because I love how easy it is to show up right before a movie and get a great seat, but more people should support this place!

I love Apollo Cinema. The staff is friendly, the service is great. The screen at Apollo is slightly smaller than your average movie theater screen, but is great quality. Love how each set of seats has tables. I go here whenever I can. Support your local movie theater and try it out!
