I have read over some reviews and I agree with many that say they love the Indie, European, Film festival, and International movie showings,decor and the art deco feel. I have never found the service bad in any way. I just can't believe that they will put absolutely no money in new seats. I have to bring a pillow to feel comfortable. Please please please get new seats. They must be at least 40 years old since that's how long I've been going to this theatre.

Vintage Art Deco, the last single-screen movie theatre in Hamilton; great choice of films, good popcorn. Test out your seat before you make up your mind where to sit -- some are more comfy than others! A historic gem that deserves lots of support from the community.

Watching a movie in a retro theatre is such a refreshing alternative. Westdale Theatre is a charming movie-going experience and the curated selection of films never disappoints. The seats are a bit ratty, and the sound is not surround, but who cares. Westdale Theatre is an institution in the area. I love going here.

The Westdale Theatre is one of those rare neighbourhood cinemas that has survived. With TLC and a lot of support, the Westdale is thriving. An excellent venue for movies and live shows, this refurbished house offers variety, convenience and class for a very reasonable cost. I, along with a full house, enjoyed the talents of Quartteto Gelato in comfortable seats and good acoustics. I enjoyed myself so much I'm going back for a movie.

I love this cinema, for the movies, for the physical space and the history. The last of the single screen neighbourhood cinemas, they bring in great films that the larger chains don't bother with. They could upgrade the seating, they could do other things, but they can't make the experience better for someone who enjoys the architecture of a big room, old school cinema. Great personnel on staff who are unfailingly helpful and with a smile.

Amazing renovations done which serve the classic feel of going to a movie house with the right modern touches. Big bright screen and absolutely fantastic surround sounds. Front lobby looks amazing and the facilities are close by and convenient. So happy to hear it is now a heritage building, something that it deserves.

We went for to opening of the Hamilton Film Festival. Very Charming theater experience. With a nice concession which is licensed with local brewers. Oh and clean bathrooms. Though I didn't see any bathrooms on the main level which is an accessibility issue. I could be wrong on this. But overall a great time.

Very unique and old school theatre. I enjoy the jazz music that they play while you wait for the movie to start. Built sometime in the 30's and still has some of the originality to it.

Lovely theatre, so gorgeous inside. Haven't been in about 2 years so hopefully the service is still amazing. I very much appreciate that they try to bring in "art-house" films, some of the films that don't seem to get a larger general release. My only suggestion is to beware during the Hamilton Film Festival that the Art Gallery of Hamilton puts on... the films might be good, but the staff (volunteers?) are clueless and rude. Otherwise this place is a total gem and I hope it remains for many more decades!

Nice to see this old beauty cleaned up and busy. All new seats, comfy despite being just shoulder high. Modern online tickets. Great choice of refreshments including craft beer from local brewers. To top it off, people went from the show to adjacent restaurants for dinner. Win, win.

The Westdale Theatre always offered hidden gems and indie movies when no other theaters were showing them. But since their re-vamp, it's truly become one of the greatest cinemas in Hamilton. The picture quality is top notch and the sound system is one of the best i've experienced. It's a comfy and artsy space that takes you back to the early days of movie going (but with some modern updates of course). The ticket prices and concession prices are very reasonable (especially if you are a member) and the theatre is always a clean space. Support this amazing local cinema!

I agree with the other reviewers. This is a nice old theatre which shows movies you might not find elsewhere. The seats are badly in need of renovation--maybe that is why the lighting is so low, so patrons won't realize until it's too late. Torn upholstery with foam poking through. Fundraise, maybe?

it was great seeing a theater like the west dale still around as you don't see them around much anymore, i saw Suite Française that made it a treat to see with the place being very much old school.....the only beef i would have and it not much is it would be nice if they had a ice machine for the pop and a up to date projector to show the films better, but never the less i like the Westdale Theater and looking forward to going back as i would say that more people should go to this place more p.s would be nice if they gave a tour where they have the projector to show the movies

Was very happy to bring the kids to this newly revamped theatre recently. It was everything we were hoping for - beautifully restored, new seats, new sound, great picture, popcorn. A great touch is the self-serve water station, this really made taking the kids easier. Looking forward to many nights here, for more than just movies as the theatre can now host music and stage events as well. We are very lucky in Westdale that this project was taken on and completed. Even the coffee was good.

This was my father's theater for over 45 years.....he always put customer service first so it pains me to think that someone else who now manages the theater is rude or disrespectful of clients. My first time ever being inside the Westdale Theatre was this past weekend for Artfest. I am a volunteer with Artfest and as a thank you we got free tickets to watch and listen to some very beautiful talented female musical artists Susan Aglukark and Amanda Rheaume. They have also done a fantastic job at restoring it and decorating to its original but with the enhanced technology.
