This retro movie theatre is super cozy. It can get quite busy, so make sure you arrive early on busy nights or for bigger movies. The screen is smaller than the big cineplex theatres, but the atmosphere here is relaxing and enjoyable.

Fantastic place to see many different types of movie and affordable. Can't wait to see the new 3 screen remake when it is done. The concept photo make it seem that the Star Cinema is going to rival Cineplex.

I might be a little generous with 4 stars comparing it to the big theatres, but it is balanced by the absolutely delightful owners/staff, and the more than fair prices and films that are available. If you have short folks with you, watch out for that--the seats don't have a ton of angle between them, so if somebody taller than you is in the seat in front of you, you'll have a head in the picture. A lovely local theatre! Never stop, Star!

A small local cinema with new seating and a good family experience. Went for my son's 8th birthday and they surprised him by having the theater sing him happy birthday and they let him start the projector. Very cool.

I love the small town feel that it has. The seat layout is one where the incline is fairly flat and the screen is a bit small for my preference. The popcorn and pop are cheap compared to the big chains. Probably half the cost!

My family and I stopped here for a couple movies while my mother and I were in town. The staff here was super patient with my indecisive nieces. They were also really friendly. Its a fairly cozy theater, which is a phrase that I don't think I'd ever say.

Movies like" the zookeeper's wife" and" lion" are not exactly common fare, but here at Star Cinema we regularly get a chance to see movies of such high caliber and depth

This movie theatre is the best it is twice the price for the latest movie releases. Was the cheapest way to watch the force awakens the third day it was out. Go to no other theatre in town this is it.

My husband is disabled, in a wheelchair, and is accommodated well at Star Cinema with a place identified for him either to sit in his wheelchair or to park the chair and transfer to a regular seat. The movies are super and on Wednesday matinee movies are shown with subtitles. This little cinema feels very homely and inviting and aims to provide for their customers. We are happy to be regular customers.

Such a great family business, they have been serving Sidney for many years and have hosted countless kids birthday parties, including mine (quite a while ago)! The prices are very reasonable and the staff are super friendly and overall fantastic, helpful people. They are great at helping those with wheelchairs with good accessibility throughout. It is a small theater, so get there early before it gets to capacity and that means no more people can fit.

This theatre gets one lonely star for me. I am an avid theatre goer and while the new extra comfy seats are a great asset , I feel that this is where this business model stops. The Sound in the theatre rooms is good..but not great..often too loud for the size of the rooms. My big issue is; if you're trying to be a luxury style movie theatre, offer more options for the concessions at modest price uptick should be expected. However when you serve below par popcorn at 6$ for a medium(really small) and your only food option is stale hot dogs at an even more outrageous price then the value added options just are not apparent. In a nutshell, the staffing levels have been cut in half, the food is overpriced and is beyond bad. The admission price does not align with the experience . Unfortunately my feeling is this theatre again is on its last legs. Increase the quality of your food offerings, price either admission or concessions appropriate for value and maybe you have a chance... As it stands, i get the sense that every transaction is an attempt to gouge the consumer to pay back investor debt... the consumer will catch on, they already have and will avoid the place...even with some of the comfiest seats in town. ....again, pricing does not represent the value of experience....as the experience is below par. Sorry folks...but i am still rooting for you as a business operator in this town it takes guts! just make those tweaks so i can recommend

Very nice. Reasonable ticket prices. Friendly staff. Great sound. No 15 minutes worth of car commercials before they start rolling the trailers like at cineplex! Just 2 trailers and straight to the movie! Great! Only one criticism - the layout of the theater is a little flat, so people's heads can get in the way if they're right in your line of sight. Other than that, a very good theater and a fine alternative to the monopoly of the cineplex chains with their price-gouging, long commercial lead-ins, and constantly trying to push AVX, IMAX, and 3D on folks that just wanna watch a standard 2D show.

The staff and owners are lovely and eager to make your experience worthwhile. At about half the cost of the larger cinemas in town it is definitely worth a car ride to sidney. This is not a fancy schmancy theater, it's just a good one. The chairs are comfortable, the screen is adequate and they select good movies to play. As well the concession items are priced more reasonably than some of the other theater chains

The stories are all true - this is the best little cinema in BC! It has all the small town charm of going to the movies in the 'old day's, super helpful & friendly hosts, and no doubt the best popcorn anywhere (they still make it the 'traditional way' with heaps of real butter!!!). Add a rabid base of loyal locals and it makes for a very satisfying, wonderful cinematic experience in every possible way. Let's put it this way... even if the movie you're seeing isn't your thing, you'll still leave feeling full in a happy, campy sort of way. btw. super family friendly too!
