Capitol 6 is my preferred movie theatre in Victoria for a few reasons. The new renovations and especially the seats are fantastic. I like that they are adjustable two ways, for the back as well as the legs, as opposed to a single button operation that is less customizable. The rows are also spacious and prevent you from being uncomfortably close to anyone else watching the movie. They also seem to get some exclusive films which is nice if there is a specific one you are hoping to see. Overall quite a nice theatre.

On Sundays 10am to 12:00 a Baptist church is held. This is such a great venue for the cgurch to meet at. Wheelchair accessability is there and seats are comfortable for everyone. I love attending here. Irs very welcoming.

My favorite theater in town. Most comfortable recliner seats in the city. Best fountain drink also. However, deducting one star cause it's obvious that the cleaning and sanitizing is very relaxed. Seats covered in popcorn on arrival. Dropped my phone under the seat and it was UNREAL the trash under there.

The recliner chairs are great, and the buttons are in a better spot than Cineplex (I accidentally hit theirs with my leg during the movie). Free refill on drinks and popcorn too. They don't always have the best movie selection though. If they had more consistently good movies I would only be going here.

It preserves a piece of Victoria history while also improving it. Great new lazyboy chairs, decent variety at the concession, and the mix-your-own flavor pop machine is awesome, letting you make otherwise unattainable international flavours like peach coke. Online ticket purchase and the self-serve barcode scanner make entry quick and easy.

Absolutely amazing seats and tons of room (both in the seat and to the next row). Theatre is a little cold though, so bring a jacket. Popcorn is average, you also can't get just a glass of water. Sound is better than an average theatre, but not as good as Silver City IMAX.

Really enjoy this theatre in it's most recent incarnation. Most comfortable I've ever been at the movies, and an interesting selection of films that changes frequently. Minus a star for minor complaints - they don't take debit and I've had difficulties with their online ticketing system.

It's great to have another theatre downtown! Capitol 6 is finally open again with huge, plush recliners. The seats are fantastic and comfy. The screens look huge and the sound is booming. There were some issues with the projector and the whole system had to be restarted but I expect that was probably a one-off. The cost is reasonable - $7 on Tuesdays with a $3 surcharge on 3D movies. The experience leading to the movie is a little unusual. The lobby is sparsely decorated and we were all confused as to where to go since there is little signage encouraging people to go upstairs to have their tickets ripped. There are no prices at the concession for combos which led to each individual ahead of us having to ask. The popcorn was subpar - they don't serve butter here, just "buttery topping". Honestly, even if this was the most plain-Jane theatre, the fact that they have reserved seating would make me a repeat customer.

I am a movie buff. I go to the cinema at least once a week and I tend to go between Tillicum Silver City, Odeon downtown and Capitol 6. Capitol 6 is probably my favourite. It features the most comfortable seats of all the afformentioned theatres on Victoria. This theatre also seems to have a strong customer service team. In addition the prices for matinees are stellar and thus far I haven't had any bad popcorn. Also the Coca-Cola freestyle machine is a great bonus. Refill on large drink and popcorn is also a nice benefit. There are ample bathrooms (including a gender neutral option).

I was not expecting the recliner Lazy Boy seats. This place is definitely a hidden gem. The theaters were clean and the staff were very friendly. I loved this place and will absolutely recommend it to anyone and everyone, and will be coming back next time I'm in Victoria and want to watch a movie.

All the seating are recliners and about the same price as a movie elsewhere. As usual the concession is pricey and limited. It is definitely a great place to go see a movie on the big screen and relax in the oversize cushy recliners. :)

Imagine a theater that you go to like cineplex, except its cheaper in price, seats are way better, building is more aesthetically pleasing. Projector and audio quality is on par, or better than many cineplex auditoriums (excluding Atmos auditoriums) And best of all, the place feels like home Capital 6, please never sell your business! If anything expand 1 more theater to mainland (not downtown Vancouver)

Theatre has very strict Covid-19 measures, which means buying two seats in the middle almost certainly guarantees that you get the row to yourself. And with every other row vacant, the closest other person is much more than 6 ft away. all the staff wear masks and gloves. I feel much safer seeing movies in this theatre than some of the other ones in town.

I simply quite like it here. It feels slightly outdated (which I find charming) and has the comfiest reclining arm chairs. There is a huge gorgeous tree growing through the center of the entrance to the theater. They have a gender neutral washroom, but it is separate from the others. It would be nice to see that integrated with a bit more regularity.

This is the best, and most comfortable theatre I have seen a film in. The ticket prices are really decent considering you get a full out electronic recliner for a seat. The concession prices aren’t bad, and the Coke machine is really cool. Loved trying the new pop flavours. The staff were all pleasant and friendly. Will be back!

My first time back at Capitol 6 since it reopened under new ownership. Honestly, it was terrific. The place was spotless, the staff were super friendly, the seats were comfortable and the screen size was good. I refuse to go to the Odeon across the street as it has become an absolute dumpster fire of a theatre, but the Capitol 6 was great. I will definitely be back.

This is hands down, my prefered theater in Victoria! The seats recline all the way back and the screens are place strategically higher. The seats are 4-5 inches wider than cinaplex across the street. They have an awesome movie selection that seem to appeal to a more mature crowd.

Omg. This theatre was closed for years and has now reopened to have the most bad ass reclining seats imaginable. And the theatre keeps to its old school roots: no annoying video games and lighting, still has its old 80s carpets. Tuesdays are only $7. One thing: Please provide local pops from Phillips and real butter. Maybe some healthier snack alternatives too. If you do something new and support local, your business will soar!

Screens are pretty small but the decor is beautiful. Every auditorium has reclining seats, which I don't care much about but other people seem to enjoy. They show a lot of smaller release and indie films which makes it a great alternative to Cineplex.

Want to go to a theatre that reminds you of your childhood? Well if you’re a millennial then this one’s it. Very cool winding staircase/ramp leading up to the second floor. Clean space, friendly staff, neat building with conical window (don’t see windows much at all in most movie theatres), and old timey concession stand. One thing though, the seats were not cleaned from the previous audience. I know this because I sat down while it was ending and there was no staff cleaning anything in between. I get that there is a labour shortage but also it’s never been more important to clean between showings… Will definitely come back, even though a bit pricey!

Aside from the wonderful seating, it's a nice change having the movie actually start on time instead of sitting through 20 minutes of ads like at cineplex. The online ticket purchasing is a breeze too. Only complaint is the bathroom stalls were in disrepair. I'll certainly be going back though!

The chair setup at Capitol 6 is much more comfortable then at the Odeon across the street. It seems like they've redone the screens in all the theaters since they previously were fairly damaged and didn't look too great. Prices are similar, especially with food. Generally the overpriced movie fare you expect.

So we booked the Tuesday night, cheap night for a movie. We arrived at the cinema, to be surprised by the luxury leather electronic recliner chairs! The surround sound was great. The only criticism is the screens are slightly smaller than other cinemas so book in advance to avoid the back row seats (though the reclining chairs will make you comfortable anywhere). They have truly chosen quality over quantity and their staff are the friendliest I have ever come across in a cinema. Because of this, Capitol 6 is our new go-to Cinema. Thank you

This theatre is fantastic. Grab a reserved deluxe recliner and enjoy your movie without being shoehorned into a seat you'd feel bad sticking a 3 year old in. The screens are decent size, and the sound is excellent, even if it isn't IMAX sound. I'll definitely go here over any other theatre as long as my movie is showing there.

I absolutely loved watching the new Blade Runner movie there. Except I was freezing even while wearing a sweater under a winter jacket and a toque. I'm sorry I left my gloves in the car. So, excellent movie theatre but it could use some heat. ????

The new seats are fantastic! I also love how they play film scores in all the common areas of the building. It's also very refreshing to be able to talk with people before the film starts instead of trying to yell over obnoxious commercials. I'm glad I didn't have too much to drink before going to this theater as it can be difficult to get past other seats during the film when everyone in your row and the one in front is fully reclined. The seat motors take just long enough to get out of the way to possibly make the experience feel awkward. I will definitely be coming back here often.

I love supporting a theatre that isn't Silver City. The seats are all extremely comfortable. The sound quality is bomb. And the staff are awesome! I had a special request at concession where I wanted to reduce plastic and waste, so I brought my own containers. They accommodated my weird request and now a turtle is saved because Capitol 6 made a great call.

The price of capitol 6 is competitive with Cineplex, and you get a similar experience - albeit a much more private one because it appears that people haven't caught on about it yet. Concession prices are very comparable to competitors and they have the sought after reclining chairs. I find they aren't as comfortable as the Cineplex ones but they do the trick for sure.

A couple of our employees recently watched "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" at this theatre. The only seats available to them were in the very front row. Fortunately the reclining chairs made all the difference. Our employees were able to comfortably watch the movie. The movie itself was interesting, and the theatre is definitely comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly as well!

Definitely worth the slightly higher ticket prices than Cineplex. Seating is more spacious and has two separate controls for reclining and footrest. There aren't any seats right up under the screen like at Cineplex so no worries about getting stuck craning your neck. Plus the building is cool, I enjoy walking up the spiral ramp in the foyer!

Great new seats provide luxury, and intimacy usually felt in the comfort of your own home. The sound and video have been upgraded to to deliver an amazing experience. The building itself is a local landmark and the spiraling ramp up to the theaters is once again enjoyed by another generation of Victorians when the theater reopened its doors. The tickets are reasonable and the staff are friendly. This theater does away with the price and glitz of the big box theaters and focuses on the value of a good solid movie going experience.

Very well could be the best theatre I’ve ever been to, save for a few issues. The theatres are very close to the concession, and as a result the conversations from the staff bleed in to the theatre while watching the film (at least this was the case for Screen 3), and the actual screen is quite small. Having said that, the reclining seats are immaculate, and the Dolby surround really puts you in the movie. Also incredibly friendly staff and great atmosphere.

Wow! This is the best movie theatre we’ve ever been to. The reclining seats are to die for. Fully electric, leather seats make the move watching experience so luxurious and comfortable. Plus you get a free refill on a large popcorn or drink. I don’t know how we can go back to Cineplex after this!

First time being in this building in over 25 years. Same old theater but new reclining chairs. The feet rests don't go all the way up which is steerage, but otherwise okay. $25 for a bag of popcorn and 2 large pop, so make sure you smuggle your own drinks and snacks in. Don't support highway robbery of popcorn or fountain drinks that cost pennies! And parking is horrendous due to the bike lanes, so it may be better to go to a different theater out of downtown!

MICE AGAIN! I could here some thing chopping behind me sounded like popcorn in theatre 2 today. Turned my phone light on and sure enough a mouse took off. Same thing happened a few years ago when I saw a Star is Born. Seen mice at DT odeon as well. Best way is to find out how they are getting in the building to fix this. Never seen mice at Silvercity which I been to hundreds of times, or the Langford Odeon. Capital 6 is nice theatre but hearing mice eat popcorn behind you is not the movie experience you pay for!

They have almost better seats than cineplex. They recline alot more however my butt still thinks cineplex has a better cushion. Screen size is also slightly larger than cineplex Victoria. So overall this location beats cineplex Victoria, due to larger screens and seat that do alittle more. Only downside is they only have 3 movies at any given time.

I like this theatre a lot! It's very old school looking in the common areas but inside the theatres, they have very comfy seats (much better than Cineplex) and they have a great sound system. The lose a star only because thier popcorn is only meh. They use butter that tastes like it's been sitting on the counter uncovered for weeks. If they could pick up thier popcorn game, they'd be a five star experience for sure.

First, the men's washroom is the worst smelling washroom ever. It's as if the urinals empty onto the floor. It is truly nasty. If you want to smell the combined urine of thousands of men, this is where you need to be. Second, some of the back row seats have been positioned behind the surround sound system. Behind it! If you choose these seats, you'll pay the same as everyone else, but you will be outside of the experience from a sound perspective that everyone else in the theatre will have. Nicely done, Capitol 6. Huge ripoff. Third (hopefully this is fixed) I recently attended a movie (Black Panther) where the sound only came out of the left hand speakers. The whole movie was in mono! Is nobody paying attention? Fourth, no one knows how to scan their prepaid ticket codes! The system is a gigantic failure. Line ups of people swearing and feeling frustrated and stupid. Good one, Capitol 6. You've invented an almost paperless system, except there's a whole confusing step involved of scanning phones (which doesn't work) and then printing out paper at the end? Arrg! Big fail! So why did I give more than one star? The staff seems nice.

Hands down - feet up - the best cinema seats in Victoria! Staff are friendly and popcorn is g-o-o-d. Concession service was fast and efficient. I like the retro colour scheme; reminds of going to the theatre in the 80's - cool! Smaller screens with Dolby Surround: try sit in the mid-rows centre to get the best sound effects. I like the fact I can choose my seats in advance. The seats recline really well and the footrest lays you almost flat out facing the screen - nice! The buttons are easy to see and use on your right armrest. There's lots of legroom if someone has to get by you. The movie was $13, a medium buttered popcorn $8 per person. It's a great choice to see latest releases on the big screen in a comfy, roomy recliner. Only problem: washrooms are upstairs from the theatre level. Go before the movie starts so don't miss any of the action running upstairs mid-movie.

Really nice, comfy leather seats with power reclining features. I like the option of buying certain seating online prior of selecting your seat while paying in person. Im the type to go and get some snacks and maybe use the restroom before looking for a seat, and usually end up having to settle for whats left. With the select seating option, i can take my time! Get there early as there aren't many seats per screen

Yes the screens are smaller than silver city, but the sound is so much better, not as loud but so much clearer. The popcorn is spectacular. Staff is friendly and seem to genuinely like their jobs. If you have a choice between this theater or another for your movie night, pick this one, you won't be sorry

Located in the downtown area this recently revived local gem offers alternative movies the other theatres might not. Upon entering you buy your ticket and walk up a spiral ramp in to the theatres on the second floor. Which I'd say creates a great atmosphere perfect for the kids. The employees are always friendly and the adjustable reclining chairs are the comfiest in the city!

I love that we can see movies again. Entered and saw it was quiet and the place ran by kids. Went to see snake eyes and soon as the movie starts, a homeless man enters and immediately drops his dufflebag and falls asleep. 25 min into the movie and he is snoring away, snoring so loud I went and complained. 10 min later I walked out demanding a refund. A 4 foot female told me to "just go" without giving me a refund. They were nice enough to give me free passes. I wonder if the homeless man will show up again ????

This cinema is stunning. Best seats in all of Victoria. If you would like to be able to recline and put your feet up in a clean theatre, this is the cinema for you. This place has great snack options and friendly staff who are not intrusive. Big kudos to the staff and management for replacing carpet with solid flooring in each theatre for easy cleaning. It makes a huge difference!

Good theater, has some of the most comfortable seats, offers online booking, has free refills on popcorn and drinks. The only reason I see not alot of people going is that it's downtown. But there's free parking nearby after 6, and ev charging. Plus, because it's not super busy it means there's no three-year-olds kicking your seat or yelling! Overall, this is my go-to movie place for Victoria. Love it!

1 star for the snarky & rude petite red head 'manager'we had to deal with tonight. Boyfriend and I went tonight to the 7:20 showing of snake eyes on July 27th. About 5 minutes into the movie a man came in the row behind me directly to my left threw a large duffle bag down then got comfy. About 20 minutes later we start hearing snoring. Snoring goes on for another 20 minutes getting louder and louder. People rows ahead are turning to look. Boyfriend goes to alert staff and comes back. We wait a few minutes and no staff come and the man continues to disrupt the theater. We've already lost track of what is going on. We know there's a homeless problem in Victoria. I tried for 40 minutes to ignore the man sleeping behind me making me uncomfortable and the sound of snoring. Obviously he needed a comfy place to sleep and I tried very hard to let it be. But the snoring got so bad. We decided to leave. None of this would have made me leave a bad review. It's not the staffs fault. BUT the rude 'manager' we dealt with was something else. The attitude we received when I said we wanted to leave, her rolling her eyes at us snapping at us 'then leave' then giving us more attitude when we asked for a refund was not acceptable by anyone much less a manager. She called in a much nicer manager a young man who said he would give us a refund (after the red head rolled her eyes to him about us when he walked up). He couldn't give a refund however as the systems were turned off already and we got passes to return next time. Would have preferred a refund as not wanting to return any time soon. The washroom was also dirty, garbage overflowing and the seat next to me was covered in food so clearly not being cleaned between showings.

Capitol 6 was my favorite theatre as a child, primarily for the spiral ramp, cone shaped skylight, and massive indoor fig tree. It was a sad day when it shut down. It has now been restored, reopened, and improved. Plush seats that recline and adjust in two places, pop machines with options more diverse than anywhere else in Victoria, and $8 for a movie on a Tuesday. Spectacular.

After Empire closed down and sold some of its asset nation wide to Cineplex, so is this theater. I fully remember the time when I watched Kung Fu Panda 2 with my schoolmates when I was Grade 8 (and another group was watching Pirates 4), after final exams were finished. Years after it was closed, itreopened with the best and the most comfortable recliner seat possible, and it plays quality independent flicks and popular mainstream blockbusters. (Thank you for playing the handmaiden directed by Park Chan Wook, making the only theatre in Victoria to do so, and hopefully more international movies can be played here.) Also, unlike Cineplex, it does not have a 5 minute long commercial time, but it only has a 10 minute trailer time which shows the movie trailer they are very likely to play in this theatre, which is great because it saves time. The only complaint I have is the lack of food selection, and I hope they can improve it as times go by (please add poutine so that I don't have to go to Silver city). But so far the experience has been nothing short of spectacular. 5 star guaranteed. Ladies and gentleman, the Great Capital 6 is back with new sleeves.

The amenities are certainly showing their age, but your actual viewing experience? Fantastic. Full one and a half wide reclining seat experience, akin to sitting in a full "laz-z-boy"! Fantastic alternative to the "big guys" in town. Selective movie choices, but they usually have all the big hits. Concessions are a little bit pricier and limited (not unreasonably so), but there is a bulk barn around the corner ;)

Their internet was down, and we ended up waiting in line for a while until the staff figured out how to sell tickets manually (even though they mentioned this happened fairly regularly). When we finally got to our theatre the movie had already started and was playing with a very loud audio description soundtrack on. One of the theatre staff finally came in (after my sister left the theatre to ask about this), and told us they were trying to fix the problem. After another ~10 minutes nothing had been fixed, and so we decided to leave. When we asked for our money back, the staff member was very abrupt and said, "What's the problem?". She never once apologized and seemed to find us an inconvenience. Disappointing.

Best consistent theatre in town! Lot's of space. Very comfy recliners for each seat. Unlike other theatres, the seats have two adjustment settings instead of one. The food is expensive but getting a large soda gives you refills. Walking up the rounded ramp to get to the theatre is very cool. Would recommend, especially for late night scary movies.

I have been coming to Capitol 6, only a block away from where i live for the last 3 1/2 years. I came to see the 7pm showing of "Little Women" on New Years Eve. 10-15 minutes into the Movie two rows diagonally ahead of me i see a bright light ! Yes, some inconsiderate, is Texting ! I firmly said TURN THAT OFF, and they did. Later when i got home i phoned to inquire if you had on screen announcements about turning off Cell phones that i missed. I was told by a nice Manager that you did not, but Staff do warn people to turn off phones which i have never seen or heard when i`ve been at a movie at the Capital. You are way behind your competitor across the street. They have at least 2 on screen announcements. If you can not do that, do it live! As a Victorian i really appreciate you keeping the Capital alive!

Nice ,wide and cushy reclining seats make it easy to get comfortable to watch the movies. The sound is quite good but the screens are a bit small to get the full cinematic experience unless you sit close to the front but then you may risk getting a strained neck from looking up during the whole move. Just saw Dunkirk in theatre 2 and the gunfire was so loud it actually hurt my ears but when the actors spoke you could hardly hear them. Screen doesn't do the 70mm film justice. Step up your game, comfy seats alone aren't going to get people off their couch and away from their streaming device.

What a great theatre. Smaller venue but simple movie experience with outstanding reclining chairs. Doesn't have the high pace like the oversized places and it makes your movie going experience that much better because of it.

Best theatre downtown. Huge comfy reclining leather chairs! Makes for a very comfortable movie. They also give free refills on large drinks which other theatres don't which is nice
