I went there to watch the new Demon Slayer movie. It is a rated R movie. I am 17 years old. I was with an 18 and 19 year old. We bought our tickets online several days before the movie. We showed up at the ticket booth with our QR coded or the online tickets and the lady asked to ID us. We understood because it is a rated R movie, so the oldest person(19 years old) in our group showed them their ID. They said, “Sorry, you need a 21 year old to accompany you to the movie or else you cannot watch it.” We were distraught. The lady working the booth had black hair pulled back in a ponytail and rectangular glasses. She continued to deny us entry, even after we all showed her our IDs. We were ages 17-19. We ended up calling our parents, purchasing a ticket for my friend’s mom, and making her watch the movie with us. After our unpleasant experience, I looked up the AMC policy for rated R movies. It says, “Children under age 17 requires an accompanying parent or guardian (age 21 or older) to attend R rated performances. 25 years and under must show ID for R rated performances.” Everybody was age 17 and above. We had to purchase another ticket, be late for our movie, and have an unpleasant experience because of this lady. She was very rude and unaccommodating. We have always had a pleasant experience since this amc location opened. This lady ruined our experience.

The new theatre seating is great. However the lobby and bathrooms were disgusting!! It was only the 2nd movie of the day and the women’s bathroom was disgusting. The majority of the stalls had none or just a little toilet paper, dirty floor and counter top. Paper towel rolls sitting on the counters not in dispensers. I find this unacceptable for only the 2nd movie of the day. I was very disappointed as I assumed the entire theatre was renovated. The bathrooms haven’t changed in 20 years...just gross!

Children 6 years and under can't come in with their parents for a rated R movie after 6 pm, which apparently includes 1 year olds. Thanks AMC for watching out for my toddler's well being, I'm sure his first sentence would have been, "I can't believe you took me to see Demon Slayer, I am so traumatized."

The place was in ruins. Dirty, broken & torn seats. The floor was filthy and sticky. Garbage in almost every row Our screen had something smeared on it and we had to go find someone because we had sound but no picture. I've been coming to this theatre since I was a teenager, it's heartbreaking to see it in this state.

Just about everything about this place is great. The customer service is top notch; they inform you of membership option but do not pressure you into signing up, they also make sure the customer is aware of whatever perks or additions that any food order comes with. Their no.1 order of large popcorn and large drink comes with free refill of both (i think they are able to do so because the buckets are so big that it is unlikely that they come back for more). The common area looks nice and clean with great prominent displays of upcoming movies. The theater seats are amazing and are electric lounging chairs with heated seat option(which I turned on by accident a few times throughout the experience). The audio, visual, and just overall experience of the movie is definitely enhanced by the atmosphere of the facility. The only reason it gets a 4* is because of the toilet seat in the restroom was not quite clean and I had to clean it before I used it. I know they can not help how clean someone else leaves the seat after they use it but they could at least provide some kind of actual antibacterial cleanser to be used instead of the handsoap and paper towels at the sink.

This is a bit long, but there are quite a few items I want to make sure I touch on. Hopefully this helps management, or visitors! Pros: I appreciate that tickets are easy to purchase on the AMC app. If it weren't for that, I would probably drive further and go elsewhere. The rewards program is a bit confusing, but reserving seats is easy. Being able to buy and reserve seats before arriving is a must when you have a large family. As you can see from my pictures, they have the rows inside the theater clearly marked in the carpet. This makes it pretty easy to find your seats, even in the dark. Cons: It would be nice if they added a kiosk, or a line for people who have already purchased their tickets, so they don't have to wait in the ticket line. Or can you just go in without getting the paper tickets? If so, that would be nice...but it's not posted anywhere and nobody has ever said it was a thing, so I just assume it's not. I'll have to ask next time. Cleanliness is always hit or miss (more often a miss lately). The staff rarely seems to be eager to help you, or even say hello for that matter. Nobody goes out of their way to speak to you, and it takes some time to get someone's attention (if you can even find someone). The concession areas look like they have not been cleaned in some time (dropped popcorn on the floor and counter, spilled pop, butter, etc). This has been my experience the last 3-4 times I have been there with my family. This is the first time we have visited since Covid restrictions have been placed. When you purchase tickets, it states that capacities have been limited to 40%. When you reserve, it automatically requires at least ONE seat distance between parties. In my opinion, two seats would be more accurate, to follow the 6 ft. guideline, but I do appreciate the effort. There are also large dispensers for disinfecting wipes on the way to the theaters. We came across four of them on our way to our movie. Every. Single. Dispenser. Was. Empty! The theater was not packed with people, they were very clearly just not filled. What is the point? Especially when you are promoting an entire program with Clorox called "AMC Safe and Clean". Luckily, I carry Clorox wipes in my purse, so we were able to sanitize where needed to be comfortable. Once you get to your seats though, you have to walk back outside the theater to throw away your disinfectant wipes, what is the point of that? You just have to touch the door all over again. Masks are also required when not consuming food and beverage. All staff I saw were wearing one, but some guests were not. There was one other minor annoyance I should mention. With Covid, they shut down the area where you would normally "dress up" your popcorn, grab napkins, etc. So you have to wait in line at the concessions to even get a napkin. They also didn't mention this when handing me my popcorn and small container of liquid butter. The thought is nice, but the butter was a mess. Between getting the lid off the container and then trying to pour from it, onto popcorn, it was a mess on the hands (and no napkins in sight anywhere). Couldn't they just add butter for people? Or have a person working the area that can give you what is needed? Lots of more convenient options, in my opinion.

What can I say? This theater is an absolute mess. It's filthy even after all of the remodeling. The staff is even worse. One girl in particular named Ashlynn. She kind of ignored us and continued talking with some other girls who names we didn't catch. When we tried to get her attention she gave us a really snarky attitude. We will NOT be returning to this theater.

Our seats were clean but I heard others complain about their seats when we were leaving. There was popcorn all over the floors in our theater. I hope that lack of cleaning wasn't a example of the how they disinfect the seats. In this time of Covid it would've been nice to have social distancing, we had the entire row behind us full of people. I understand it's hard to seat a large group but why put a large group next to other people when the rest of the theater had plenty of room. Don't they keep track of the seating or care about social distancing? We had ordered our tickets in advance. We have to worry about and take precautions for my wifes health so our movie experience wasn't the best. After going through this with Covid we probably won't be going back as long as there is no Covid precautions in place. It's sad when you enjoy going to a movie but can't afford the health risks plus the expense to go. We had to pay arouund a $100 for 2 adults, 3 children with just popcorn an slushies than risk getting Covid. The price just isn't worth it anymore.

Now that's its AMC the theater has greatly improved. Especially with awesome seats and the Alist membership you can buy for about $20.00 a month and you get to see 3 movies a week or 12 in a month it's pretty cool!!! Would definitely recommend this theater to everyone :)

AMC theater chain should be embarrassed that this theater is in the AMC family. Seats were tore up in theater 12. Movie Death Wish opened day before but had so many bad spots in movie I can only assume the equipment was as bad as the seats. Reading other reviews it seems like this has been like this for a while at this theater.

Yes, there are better theaters. Not much to choose from in Sioux City though. Didn't notice any stench or torn seats. Would have been 4 stars if the movie had actually started on time. It started after a 10 minute white screen delay and only after I went and asked an employee to start the movie for us. Which he did. Great service all around! It was my first visit so after 4-5 more I will update my review depending on the experience.

There system for getting tickets is dumb, the seats in the theater are worn-out, and there was a smell that I couldn't even describe when I was there. What renovation? When you go to the movies... the sound and picture should be your #1 priority. I went to see Bumblebee last Friday and found the picture quality to be horrible. You can tell the projector was dirty and the curtains were not set to the actual dimension the film was shot. Furthermore, whoever was running the project was probably looking forward to leaving home early hence why he flipped the theater lights on before the film was ending. Not cool! And to top if off, I spent $20 on two cokes and candy... later I found out there was a Combo deal the employee didn't advise us on. Either their ill informed or taking advantage of customers. Will I ever return to this AMC? Definitely not!

They recently remodeled so they have nice chairs but their sound equipment and screens are still in dire need of updating. The screen I saw had large imperfections and I could actually see the reflection of a metal bar through part of it where it's worn thin. Refreshment prices are way out of hand as well.

EDIT: Well, it was bought out and is in the process of renovating. They now have leather power recliner seats with ample legroom. The torn curtains are gone, and improvements have been made throughout. Bathrooms still need some attention, and our theatre had a tear in the screen but it's on the come up now. They're making strides towards a great theatre. ORIGINAL: This place is in DESPERATE need of a renovation. The curtains hanging from the side walls of multiple theatres are torn and frayed and very dirty. The theatre seats are all in poor condition, with many seats completely broken and unusable. Lights are burnt out, the bathrooms aren't well maintained, the service is reflective of the poor effort of this place. I used to come here for movies all the time as a kid, but now the promenade is the go to movie theatre in Sioux City. Hopefully this place can turn it around.

Boy was I wrong, the seats are torn, there was still garbage everywhere from previous movies. The floors were sticky and carpet was stained. I will never go back to this theater again. We were very disappointed when we tried the AMC at The Southern Hills Mall! They have raised the prices to everything. The theaters are filthy, the floors are sticky, it was hot in there as well. We had thought we would give it a try again but it has gotten worse. Also for the reward program I was informed it will expire in November and it will cost $15.00 to renew. Let me just say I will not be renewing it. It was suppose to be a reward for the customers when they visit your movie theater. It was the first movie of the day and I seen only 10 other people at the theaters. When before the were lines of people waiting for tickets. Too bad! It used to be a nice theater and the people working there had been there for a long time. If you think raising the prices will help make up for missing customers you are very wrong!!

Took too long to purchase tickets at the window. For $5 extra you can buy tickets online. This charge is bad form. They had 5 people behind the snack counter. Only 1 was taking orders VERY slowly. Then would not go to next customer right away. Why have so many at snack counter that were not running a register? We had to wait a half hour for our popcorn. Seats are nice and comfortable. Theater was clean. The restroom was flooded. Water all over the floor with a wet floor sign in the middle. Can't afford pipe repairs I guess. Should have taken 1 of the many people at the snack counter to continuously mop it up. My 5yr boys pants got wet. Unsanitary!

Used to work there for almost 2 years and went back to see the new remodels and go see Venom a few weeks ago. Place looks great but the new staff was absolutely awful, was treated very poorly and the staff was all standing around talking as I was waiting to be helped. The girl that helped me had a very poor and lax attitude, like she didn't care. Like I was an annoyance because I was interrupting her conversation. Most the staff looked like young teenage girls that didnt care at all to be working there. I'm not one to dwell on the past too much, but this isn't how it was at all when I worked there. Our staff was actually friendly, and seemed like we were actually happy to help the costumers. Something desperately needs to change with these remodels.

I walk into see the movie theater one day in all its remodeled glory and I walk into the entire staff sitting at the tables on their phones one of the staff members I knew walked up and treated me and showed me the new theaters and when we were done we walked back out to all of them in the same place as we were there chatting one of the girls kept staring at me in a creepy manner everytime I'd look at her she was staring even when I looked away she was staring it made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe if you ever go to AMC theaters stay away from Ashlynn VanBeek I know my family and I won't be going there while she works there!

Definitely a much needed up upgrade from the previous theater. Love the heated reclining seats, prices on movies and concessions are lower than the Promenade theater. Cleanliness definitely needs to stepped up, the seats I chose online had popcorn on the seats and the arm rests had a large spill of butter or oil on them.

We usually enjoy a night out at the movies but not tonight. Tonight We went to the southern hills AMC in sioux city. We Like $5 movie night but that was the only plus. We wanted to buy 2019 refillable box but no..they are out....its Jan 8. Really out already. A gal yelled over we should get a shipment tomorrow....yeah that doesn't help me now ???? Then the lobby was a mess. Popcorn on the floor along with lids straws, and napkins. The theater was also a mess. Popcorn on the floor, crumpled napkins , seat left down, my seat was greasy. .it was clear NO ONE cleaned between movies. When we left 2 1/2 hrs later the lobby was a mess. The butter, salt and condiments area was a huge mess. Popcorn everywhere, cup, napkins, straws on the floor by the pop station. And to top it of 3 employees were talking laughing and having a great time in the concession stand....the 3 more staff giggling and have a fantastic time chatting in the ticket office. They could have taken 20 miutes to lean a bit. I'm not sure if we will come back.

Went to Captain Marvel, great movie, the renovation is very nice, theater is in great condition now, however, it gets ruined by adds; movie was scheduled to start at 7:15, but commercials ran until 7:39, previews were shown from 7:39 to 7:43. That's a 28 minute late start, might as well call that half an hour late, not doing that again...AMC owes me 30 minutes ????

Much improved from the predecessor. The seats are nice, loveseat style with rising divider and recline with ease. Heated for added comfort. Prices seem to keep going up, would love to see a family or better priced movie pass option that mimics their best feature of a flat rate monthly movie pass for adults allowing a much more reasonable rate to catch several movies within a month at minimal per movie price if able to use all eligible viewings.

I didn't even want to check out the bathrooms or get anything from the concessions because of how gross it is in the theater. I understand that customers can be cause of some of this but the theater needs to do a better job keeping up with cleaning and replacing seats that are falling apart. It looks like a place where people go to get bed bugs. It is not worth the money to come here. Either clean up and fix up the place or tear it down and rebuild. Sioux City should be ashamed of this theater. This gives people (especially people from out of town) a perspective that Sioux City must be a dirty city.

My husband and I went to see a movie yesterday 7/16 around 420 at the carmike theater in the mall. While watching previews we noticed how dirty it was. the ceiling had huge holes and water spots everywhere, there was so much noise from what we believe to be the AC. We ignored it and watched the movie. After leaving and coming straight home (which is an hour away) my husband realized his wallet had fallen out of his pocket. We called right away and told them exactly where we where seated. They said they did not find anything and nothing was turned in. So I decided to wait until today 7/17 to call and give them time thinking maybe after the night movies it would be found. The lady that answered the phone said nothing was turned in so I asked her to take my number and asked if she could go look for me, I told her what theater and what seat he was in. She said if she found it should would call back within 15 minutes. We never received a call. My husband decided to go there himself bc it had to be there. He didn't want to waste an hour drive so he took my daughter to another movie and after the movie he went into the theater we where in the day before and looked. Not to our surprise it was right next to his seat. Not under or crammed somewhere that would be hard to see, it was literally right on the ground in front of the seat. Had the lady actually looked she would have found it. Had they looked or even cleaned yesterday it would have been found before we cancelled all his cards. This was HORRIBLE customer service. They obviously do not clean the theaters. We will never be giving them business again.

DO NOT GO!!!! My friends and I went to a movie tonight. Came home and saw something crawling around, turns out it was a BED BUG!!!! Unless you want to come home with one or more uninvited guests, DO NOT GO!!!!
