there was nobody downstairs to sale me a ticket, so i go upstairs and i tell him(the greeter) "there's nobody downstairs". he tells me i have to go downstairs. i explain to him, i just came from downstairs and there's nobody. it's 1:01 and the movie starts at 1:00, i tell him "can i just buy a ticket", he would not facilitate a sale. it was like talking to a machine, no brains required.

Cine Starz CDN is your local cheap movie theater around the CDN area. This is no ordinary theater they show $5 movies however they are new movies. I've been coming here since I was a child when it was still Cineplex and now bought out by Cine Starz. Why do I still come back here every time? The value! You can still watch up to date movies for a fraction of the regular priced ones. Nothing beats $5 vs $15. Some cons are definitely the seats, they are outdated, not the cleanest, and not the most comfortable. However when big releases come out like Marvel movies they have a special theater for them. They sell pop corn, nachos and drinks just like any movie theater! What I like about Cine Starz is the accessibility for larger families who want to spend less!

Nice cheap movie place. Located in second floor of Plaza Côte-des-Neiges. Customers buy tickets at the kiosk which is selling snacks at night. There is arcade game corner besides the kiosk and we could play nostalgic games there while waiting our theater is ready. (almost all are $1)

Lots of reasonably small theaters with seats that range from comfortable to acceptable. The biggest appeal is the price, which is lower than most comparable movie theaters in the city. There's also plenty of parking. The snackbar is sadly lacking real butter for the popcorn.

Despite having online purchases available on their website, the cinema can't be bothered to buy QR scanners so they expect customers who bought their tickets ahead of time to stand in line to get ANOTHER printout of the tickets they have already purchased - AND printed out. When we complained, we were told that our online purchase wasn't actually a "purchase" but merely a "reservation" but this is simply untrue. The email we received was clearly labeled "Internet Ticket Purchase" and came with instructions to print out the tickets - which were, unsurprisingly, labeled "Tickets" and came with individual barcodes. Crazy, I know. I can't imagine why we thought that this cinema would operate like every other cinema in the city and have QR scanners at the ready, Basically, these people are engaging in a fraudulent practice, pretending to offer a service they don't actually provide. By the way, a QR scanner is an inexpensive purchase and is even readily available as an smartphone app -for free! If the cinema is too cheap to buy QR scanners for their ticket collectors, they could simply ask them to download the app to avoid this situation. People buy tickets online to AVOID having to stand in line at the cinema, not to have the extra inconvenience of buying and then printing out tickets...and then standing in line at the cinema to go through the whole song and dance of "purchasing" their tickets again. Honestly. what is wrong with people?

Good selection of movies and good seats. As other reported, not the cleanest of cinemas and best organized (don’t waste your time buying your ticket online). But when a 5 to 7$ cinema is located in the middle of a really young population with schools around, you can expect to have more entertainment with the people in the room than on the screen. Second time I go there and there’s people on their phones, groups of friends just having a nice chat throughout the whole film, people playing music on their phone during the movie... And when people complain in the room or to the staff, nothing is really happening. So if you feel like watching a great movie and dive into the story, just pick somewhere else. I’d recommend this one for brainless comedies and action films really. In the end, it’s kind of the complete opposite of iMAX! Interesting concept.

Cheap cinema, movies are in English. Personally, I hide food from the Walmart next door in my purse and snack on that instead of buying popcorn there. Go there to watch movies at 5$ (no taxes!) but don't expect anything fancy. A good simple time.

Fantastic place! Every night is $5 movies!!!! So an amazing price! The theater was clean and well kept, staff was friendly. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is because the food stand is not properly staffed, so the lines are usually insanely long, like 20+min to get popcorn. But they do have very great prices and they use real butter ????. Great place!

This theatre looks like it comes straight out of the 80s! Like you're in stranger things. When it's not busy you just go upstairs to pay (at concessions). It was a Wednesday and we paid 5$ each, tax in! It's not the fanciest theatre but it's comparable to the smaller cineplex that aren't downtown and play the less popular movies. The seats aren't that bad and you can actually remove the armrest. The theatre rooms are smaller and the seats aren't as elevated and angled (as in raised up) as most other theatres. I'm being picky for those that are concerned but you can't go wrong for 5$! It's like how movie theatres were in the 90s before they got mega fancy and life expensive. Not as much staff to clean and maintain the theatre either, so if the previous people were messy, you may see it. You get what you paid for. The mall is quite ghetto though. And there is ample parking. If you go later at night, park on the side of the movies because the mall gets blocked off after closing so you can't go through. I'd definitely go back.

Price is extremely reasonable (5$ before 6pm, 7$ after, and 10$ for 3D), food tastes good, chairs are comfortable, rooms are pretty clean (occasional missed popcorn bag or wtv), they have a decent variety of movies, etc... I have gone there often in the last few years, and the staff were always friendly and polite. It's not as high-end as some other places, so you won't have staff at each door letting you in or checking in on noise level, but honestly it's usually fine.

They have good comfortable seating and the movie price is so less!! I watched Avengers: Infinity War for just 5$. The drinks and popcorn are also not too expensive if you take the jumbo packs. Although they don't have assigned seating. So you have to come to the movie theatre in advance if you want your preferred seating. You cannot reserve it in advance. The cooling/heating system made an ambient temperature environment which was cozy and comfortable. One tip: mention 3D while buying your ticket because although I mentioned the time of the 3D show, he gave me a ticket of the 2D show and had already printed my receipt before I realized my mistake. But I didn't regret it since I enjoyed the movie.

I grew up in the neighborhood and it was our go to place. While it may not be as large or comfy as the big name ones, parking was never a problem and it's not booked solid so you can sit and not have to worry about touching the arm of a complete stranger ;)

Cheapest theatre I've been to in Quebec! Tickets are for 5 dollars a person. Food is also very cheap. Not overly crowded. Some areas aren't as clean as should be, but staff are always nice and amazing. Overall a really good place for a cheap movie.

First time coming here, movies are always very cheaply priced, what surprised me was the popcorn jumbo for 6.50 only. They do charge for cups of water .50 but it make sense for the cups. The theater itself is not the best room to enjoy movies, there is sound from the walls and a cracking sound from the ventilation or something up there, the sitting is not gradual so people in front of you will hide a portion of the screen. The screen is smaller than other theatres. You pay what you get. This place is a 3.5 stars due to massive affordability.

If you have concerns over proper covid precautions, I suggest you skip this place. There was no one to check people at the entrance. No hand sanitizer in the dispenser. The man at the counter was not scanning people for the vaccine passports. Currently other cinemas continue spacing between people but this one does not and you sit wherever you want, just FYI. Cinema-wise, it's an amazing price compared to other places, but the sound is way too high. Boyfriend agrees so it's not just me.

Men in Black international: the actors were really good. I liked the theme it’s was action and comedy and the settings were really cool. It was really surprising that a girl found a partner really fast and a good one too they were good partners and that the main character was accepted in this community of professionals that worked with aliens. My recommendation are that you should see this movie even tho you didn’t see the old ones it okay because this one is good too and it’s has a little bit a different story but it’s fine because it’s good and this is not a fail

Wow. Coming from never having visited any other theater other than Cineplex I expected a very scuffed experience. I was wrong. Paying only 7$ a ticket I went to watch Shang Chi on day after release. We went as 4 people and it only came to about 10$ a person even though we all got a drink. At cineplex the tickets alone would cost more than that. While the quality was a bit worse than cineplex, it was definitely value for the price. If I lived here I would absolutely come back. Would definitely recommend! Save your money!

The price and the service is what makes this place worth. Sure, the comfort or the hygiene is not on par, but why do you go to the movies? On another note, some of the rooms are poor quality. Projector and sounds need adjustment.

Impressed by how cheap it was, for the price of a ticket in Guzzo or Cineplex I can almost buy a popcorn combo with a drink and candy. Very empty and calm (might be because of coronavirus). Only reason it doesn't get a 5 star rating is because of its lack of arcade games and the slightly less comfortable seats when compared to other theatres, but I understand that they have a more restricted budget than Guzzo or Cineplex. Overall I would suggest it to anyone and everyone who is on a low budget, such as students. Will definitely be coming back here for another movie experience.

Small and cozy cinema in the Côte-des-Neiges Plaza. I used to go here a lot and they have great prices. The seats in the cinema are really old, destroyed and disgusting though, when you compare the seats in Guzzo or Scotiabank to here its night and day and i was hesitating sitting there because it was really disgusting seats everywhere made of fabric and had rips and stains all over. You guys need to change the seats and make it modern, otherwise good.

At the same time on the screen I could see that whoever was trying to connect to speakers and play some film called PolyU. Afterwards, the employee tells me the movie is cancelled? I went downtown twice in the past to see a movie, and I could only get 1 small popcorn and 1 drink with a bag of M&M's for $22 after paying $13 for my seat, and NO free refill. now multiply that by 4.... I swear, some people just don't appreciate anything anymore. Well CDN Cinema, I appreciate you very much. I enjoy coming to your theatre and I don't even care if we're the only one's in the seats. I don't care if the cinema's are never pack to capacity, it's better that way. I love this place, I always go all the way to this cinema just for the price. 5$ for a movie that just came out, no other cinema can compete. Only thing I found a bit dumb was that they open the place 5 minutes before the first movie starts so everyone waits because you're supposed to be early to a movie and then everyone rushes to the cash to pay to get in. If 2 customers before you each take 5 minutes getting snacks and drinks then you've already missed part of the movie or the trailers. (They only show about 2 trailers before a movie and they aren't very long) It's not that big of a deal cause I still gave the place 5 stars but it can be a bit inconvenient at times.

The cinema is located in an out-dated mall. The theater room is clean, the chairs are very comfortable but unfortunately you cannot eat while watching the movie because of Covid-19. But as far as price it's very affordable and lives up to it's quality.

So $5 to $7 movie tickets in comparison to more than double in a theatre downtown. This place is DOPE. Also, it’s quite clean and the seats are surprisingly comfy and cozy (very plush, albeit makes weird sounds as soon as you sit). The cashiers are super friendly too. I’d highly recommend sitting through a movie here! Note that the escalator is broke and also it is kind of confusing to get out of when you’ve taken a late screening and are taking the bus.

I literally attended a movie while a drop is setup next to me. I had hard time finding an appropriate seat as apparently all seats are reserved. This is the cheapest movie theater I know in Montreal: movies only cost 5$ ! It is rarely packed, so it's a great spot to go see a movie that is premiering. Also, in the plaza, there's a dollorama and a walmart for those of you who might want to sneak in some of uour favorite treats. Even though it is cheap, the theater itself is clean, everything is pretty efficient. Only downside is that movie usually start 5-10 minute after scheduled time (which is fine by me as you get extra time to grab some snacks!)

Five dollar movies?? That gives no one an excuse not to see movies on the big screen! The only other place that makes an outing to a movie theatre as economical is the Cinema Dollar on Decarie.Blvd near Vezina ($2.50) Both places give up a little quality in comparison to the larger theatre chains. Sometimes the sound isn't always what it could be or the image on the screen isn't as sharp ... and the seats are not quite as comfortable. That being said, I like being able to drive to these places and easily find a place to park for free. If you like seeing movies on the big screen as much as I do, these two cinemas should be on your radar.
