This Movie Theater is included in the category of Movie theater.
This cinema is the reason I love the going to the cinema, you can have a drink you can watch a movie and it's reasonably priced ! What more could you want ?
Take a really old and dirty cinema, put a bar in it, make it sound fancy, and you have Fifth Avenue Cinemas. To the management - if you are reading this, the least you could do is make sure the floors are cleaned after a show. Even in the darkness, we could spot popcorn on every square inch of the floor when we entered the theatre. We were really worried about rodents being present to enjoy a movie and some popcorn. The seats are neither clean nor comfortable. Really, stay safe and try to avoid this place.
I had been wanting to see a movie at the Fifth Avenue Cinemas for a while and recently booked tickets for me and my boyfriend for his birthday. We both had our vaccination passports however I forgot my ID at home so they didn't let us in, which we completely understood. We were discussing our options with the lady who checked our vaccination records when this rude man (probably the lady's manager) interrupted us. He was not only arrogant, rude and disrespetful to us during the entire conversation but also suggested that we don't come back to Fifth Avenue Cinemas when he handed us our refunded tickets. This was our first time at this location and we had a terrible experience dealing with the extremely condescending and rude manager there. To the management, if you are reading this, please hire staff that is friendly and helpful to customers. Thank you.
The build of the theatre was too flat; there's no incline so getting back row seats wasn't as great of an experience as expected
Went out last night to see Dune..came right after work. Sat in bar ordered beer and food..service good..nachos in small takeout container with tiny plastic pots filled with salsa sour cream and guacamole..$ 16 dollars few chips with small amount of cheese melted, and corn wrelish?? Strange..not worth it very disappointing..Charcuterie board out of brie..ok substitute but was not told they also out of nuts and chutney just left them out..again disappointing..nothing offered to substitute no money off nothing..we had call for the manager..who offered the give nachos free of charge or 2 tickets..there were 3 of us!! A little insulting..I said free nachos I don't want to go back..bought popcorn because we were still hungry and had a beer move was great canned beer good and best part of all popcorn..thus experience left a bad taste in my mouth..especially because the manager offered only 2 free tickets not one for each of us..bad move on his part..2 stars for the movie and popcorn..!!
I always have special feelings about this place. I like the fact that it’s an adult only cinema meaning no kids are allowed. The place has a nice modern design, tiny but cozy. It has a bar and allows you to take your food and drink inside the cinema. So yesterday I went there to see a screening with my partner unfortunately what happened was there was a fire alarm. So we ended up not being able to see the movie, what the theatre did was they provided us with courtesy movie tickets that we can go back at another time at any location at any rate the great thing is there’s no expiry date. We are satisfied.
Nice cozy little theatre, way to crowded I think for pandemic though. Usually they have seats empty around but this one was completely full for spiderman. I pray no one gets COVID variant after these showings ????
Cool setup with the balcony seating. Enjoyed my movie there.
Best theatre in the city by a landslide. Licensed bar is great. Had to downgrade from 5 stars because they stopped serving real food (drinks only) and just have the standard popcorn, fountain drinks, and sugary concession fare. That said, the staff let us bring in real food from outside which made for a great alternative.
I've always had a solid experience coming to this theatre. The screen size and space is limited, but the adult only and premium offerings make it worth the while. The venue is usually clean and, generally speaking, it's always a great …
It should be illegal to subject audiences to 15 minutes of ads after the start time. I'm not talking about previews, but ads for cars, burgers, banks, etc. The film was listed as starting at 3:15 pm. At 3:31 pm the previews finally began. At 3:37 there was yet another car ad before the movie began. So yeah, nearly half an hour of ads, along with a few previews. Also, there was an electrical buzzing throughout. We went to a dialogue-based movie with silences/pauses, and the buzzing was very noticeable. Well at least the chairs didn't collapse!
I recently ordered the movie night for two from the UBER eats and got a great delivery. My popcorn was fresh, buttery and my pop was super fizzy. I got a correct full order just as I did when I was going to the theatre. I highly recommend …
Comfy seats, full bar and all the movie snacks you can think of. Very affordable compared to other cinemas I’ve been to.
Great local theater that often shows indie films which can't be seen at the big cineplexs, and also offers alchohol to guests 19+.
I really like the atmosphere in this place but the noise and lack of care and attention to a good screening is so disappointing! Firstly the noise pollution from the lobby with everyone queuing to buy food and drink, if you’re watching a quiet film all you can hear is everyone outside the auditorium. Secondly the squeaky chairs are ridiculous, every SINGLE chair squeaks, it’s relentless, just WD40 the chairs man. Thirdly, I understand you need exit signs to show the fire exit, but to have them directly next to the screen on both sides so the bright red light bleeds onto the screen again just ruins it, I’ve never notice this in any other cinema. Lastly, if you notice your seats are below the balcony I would save yourself the hassle and move, because if someone up there gets up or moves, or something heavy is put down you’ll hear everything, there’s absolutely no soundproofing, also the overall sound set up for movies is terrible, so quiet and unbalanced. All in all really disappointed, the staff are lovely but the lack of care on how a film is actually presented is such a shame, especially when we’ve waited so long to be back in cinema’s, it really doesn’t take much to do it right!
My favourite theatre in Vancouver! I wish they had some more food options, but the trade-off of it being 19+ is well worth it. Friendly staff and always clean!
It is very clean and has a modern up to date look for the lounge and lobby. Adult only so typically quieter and you get glasses for your alcoholic beverages. Not crowded due to pandemic rules. Not the biggest, loudest sound system or picture, but you can still enjoy the movie.
Cineplex has invested alot in thier other theaters.. this one now just feels basic. They've neglected to take care of this place and it's shown. From the dirty tiles, bolts in the lobby under the chairs that they didn't grind down To the TV's on the walls with burn in and odd Angles The worst is the seating that they've given up on lubricating so they squeak whenever someone moves in them. Save your money and go to one of their other theaters. Even the well aged Metrotown has a better product.
A nice Cineplex theatre with food, a bar, and balcony. The line-ups because of the vaccine passport checks can get long, so you should try getting there earlier. There are also big lines for both the food and the bar if the theatre is packed, so keep that in mind for new releases.
Unless you are one of those people who treat the theatre like a pub - Avoid sitting at the back, on room 5. The entry door is directly facing those seats with no blockage of some sort. A black curtin a few feet away would help. Anyone that comes in-and-out of the session (which felt like every 5 minutes during Dune) will completely ruin someone else's experience. Besides the noise of opening followed by door slamming, you will get a dose of blasting lights on your face. When I go to the movie theatre I expect to be immersed into that reality, without being woken up by such annoyances. In my 40 years of frequently going to movie theatres I can count on my fingers, in one hand, the amount of times I went to the washroom during a session. Out of respect to others in the audience and the film makers, I've held it in until the end. Unless, of course is a terrible film. But usually, I will use the washroom before going in. Just as you would with a child, before leaving the house on a trip. At least that's how I was taught.
The staff was helpful, prompt, and friendly. The auditorium was clean. The popcorn was very tasty. It's also nice that you are treated like an adult and allowed an alcoholic beverage. (It's 19+...one poor guy was refused entrance as he was under 19, and it's the only theatre in town playing that film.) I saw that particular film and it wasn't to my liking, but that's not on them. I'm just glad we can go to movies again.
Nice 4-screen theatre that feels like a good scale for the neighborhood. It is a 19+ theatre in a very pretty building. Chairs in theatre 3 starting to feel a bit loose.
I used to like going here, the ceiling lights are so bright, when I asked they said that was standard. Way too bright (auditorium 1)
Good experience overall. Currently checking vaccine passports, which is a good thing. However, once coming out of movie showing, lots of people. So a little too crowded for my liking. Empty seats between people inside showing.
Nice movie theatre but the manager was extremely condescending and rude to customers on Friday evening. My friends and family will be avoiding this cinema as a result of our very snobby customer service experience.
A 19+ Theatre with no kids and serves alcohol? Count me in! Good range of films and the theatres are mostly outfitted with (semi) reclining seats and good audio-visual. Favourite theatre in Vancouver
This is an excellent cinema with an almost boutique atmosphere. Due to the age limit (alcohol is served at the consignment) you won't run across kids which is an extra bonus!
My preferred theatre in Vancouver area. Reasonable prices, not too busy, average cleanliness, nice staff. They have a balcony in some theatres, which I enjoy.
We got there with plenty of time to spare but unfortunately the line for snacks was slow and disorganized. When they added another cashier he didn't direct the folks waiting the longest but let those just walking in to get service first. New staff should wear an "I'm new" badge so customers tone their frustration down a little bit. I missed the start of my movie.
Rad place to grab a pint and see an A24 film on big screen. Super friendly staff, comfy seats.
I love this cinema, it is a nice area and has small seating sizes so it feels more intimate.
Love this theatre and happy to support it but the noise pollution in the auditorium was terrible, the principal cause of such being that many of the seats were very squeaky. I felt bad for the others in the theatre who had squeaky seats as any movement they made sent a loud noise throughout the whole theatre. To add to that, the volume of the film (I saw The Green Knight) was also about 25% quieter than it should have been, which would have helped with the noise pollution as well. If the seats were given some grease and the volume increased I'd definitely give the theatre a higher rating.
5th Avenue should use the marquee that faces Burrard. The small poster displays are useless when driving past. Without something on the marquee, the place looks closed. Selling liquor isn't enough to completely enjoy this theater. The good thing about 5th Ave. is that it isn't right downtown.
This cinema is a great place for a date!!! This is like in between a VIP cinema in coquitlam and Scotiabank theather, you get best of both worlds and have a drink. You get to select your seats all the time which is great you don’t have to …
Really gorgeous venue marred by a rude aggressive manager. We went here to relax and see a movie I've been waiting for for years on my 30th birthday. My girlfriend forgot her ID so they wouldn't allow us in (she's 28, neither of us were drinking) but I get that you have rules. While we were discussing options the manager intervenes in the discussion between my girlfriend and the lady who was helping us to just be aggressive and disrespectful to both of us. He made the whole situation worse and is clearly not good at customer facing roles. If you want to go to the movies to relax maybe avoid this place. They refunded our tickets but (after several attemtps of calling) they won't book us in over the phone and refer us to the website where we can't use the tickets to book in. They also don't seem to answer the phone.
First time here. Very nice small theatre with a bar in the lobby. Take drinks to your seat
Always love coming here to watch a movie! The staff is kind, the food is good and fast and the theaters are always clean.
Love that this theater is 19+, it's so nice to have the option to enjoy a beer or cider while watching movies on the big screen!
The theatre room had a noisy AC unit that could be heard over the movie during the quiet scenes. Not a great cinematic experience.
Masks mandatory everywhere until you shoehorn yourself into a tiny seat, surrounded by maskless people. Lasted 15 minutes and left. I’ll stick with larger seat theatres. Dr Bonnie needs to decide masks or no masks.
First film in a while. Won't be returning soon. 245 show of dune. Film actually started at 330! Technical issues happen. But no explanation. No apology. And the worst part was instead of cutting the preshow short to make up time it went even longer once they finally got going! So long that they were actually playing some commercials twice! Torture. How is holding paying customers captive and spewing the same ads at them multiple times ok? If you value your time and sanity steer away from a cinema that thinks that is somehow ok.
This is not a good place to enjoy a full cinematic experience. The ceiling lights inside the theatre during the movie, they need to be turned down. During our screening there was an occasional high pitch beeping noise coming from the ceiling or behind the screen that was very distracting and took us out of the movie experience multiple times. The sound coming from the lobby when another ended was very loud during the ending part of our movie. On the plus side - the chairs were comfortable. I would recommend another movie theatre, if you can.
Lots of options re snacks...beer ... etc... real proper cozy cinema...was quite an enjoyable evening ????
Watched new James Bond movie at this theatre for first time. Easy check-in and we sat on the balcony. Chair was normal comfy, audio was good. Overall we had good experience here.
I like this cinema. The space, amenities; you can get adult beverages as well as the standard menu of popcorn & candy etc. I found it clean and the staff are friendly. The last time I went I sat in the "bar" area before the movie because we got there really early. We ordered the nachos with a drink cause we hadn't had dinner.. The nachos were the most overpriced, smallest, disappointing nachos I've ever had so I've taken a mental note not to buy food in the "bar" area again. I do want to say the server was super friendly and attentive. The rest of the experience including popcorn etc was great.
Been here a couple of time since covid restrictions have been relaxed. Comfy seats, patrons are more spread out. Sound and mo ie quality is goid
Saw bond on a matinee. We almost had the theatre to ourselves, as there was one other couple. Im sorry my husband wont shut up at movies, but at this point I am stuck with him. At least he paid for the exhorbinantly priced adult beveraged we enjoyed. And I get why they are priced thusly. For every patron in the theatre during a matinee, there are 3 staff members on shift! Oh well, overall we really like having a theater where they treat us like big boys and girls and we dont have to sneak in our mickeys.
I forgot the thing I dislike about seeing films at large chains: the commercials, way too many promos, cutsie Cineplex shorts, branding being blasted at me, etc. (I know it’s to offset the price of the ticket - but geez... On streaming I press play, and there's the movie!) Of course there’s an argument to be made that I could just arrive later - but these days we’re told to arrive even earlier because of Covid protocols - and I am not going to fumble around in the dark, during a pandemic, looking for my assigned seat (which is also a newish thing). Would you ever consider a scenario where a customer could pay more, and have the movie start right away? Also, I couldn’t use my Scene coupon and my card wouldn’t work because the manager told me Cineplex changed all the card numbers during the pandemic. What? Why? This is my welcome back to the cinema? You card doesn’t work anymore, go get another? And just finally, after the black eye cinemas have received over the last year and a half plus, you might want to consider the optics of your outdoor signage reading: E X C I N E M A S ... the sign’s been like this for a long time.
This place is more of a lounge rather than a regular theatre it has come forth seats and you’re able to get drinks and real food while watching your movie which is really nice. This is my theatre of choice.
More worried about liquor license than showing films ?don't get it there's a pub a block away .why would anyone come here to drink .Some bouncer guy at door?!
