We offer you all the information of real people like you who buy the products and services of Cineplex Cinemas Metropolis (Movie Theater) in British Columbia (Canada).
Currently the firm gets a score of 4.1 stars over 5 and that rating was based on 127 reviews.
As you can read, the average score it has is quite good, and it is based on a high number of reviews, so we may conclude that the score is very credible. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they are satisfied with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to put opinions when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Movie Theater is classified in the category of Movie theater.
A bit of an older theatre, but has a good screen and speakers none the less. It's in a good location so you can get food from the food court and then see a movie. Dark environment so your eyes don't hurt. It's all good.
I got the tickets online first but still had to line up with everyone else just to use that “pick up” machine. I think that defeats the whole purpose of getting my tickets first. They should really have a separate line for those who are just picking up theirs tickets. Good that I got there early.
Old style seats. They ran out of co2 so no pop to wash down popcorn. Otherwise not bad
Why are the seats in AVX#1 so ancient?
Not as nice as other Cineplex locations. Staff are pretty inefficient so getting tickets and food is a pretty long ordeal, despite the fact that the movie I was seeing had about 5 people in total at the showing. Theater 5 is a little unclear to find as well. In sum, its a decent place to kill a few hours but not for a fancy experience or many show options.
Thai location is really busy but they do a decent job of keeping washrooms clean. One issue I had is that all new movies would play in auditorium 2. The center channel speaker in theater had a defect and you could barely hear the dialogue. This happened in during two separate movies. You're paying full price and you can barely hear what's going on.
Straightforward movie experience. Cinemas was super dirty and chairs were too easy to kick and shake...
Cashier charged me for the guy in line behind me because " I thought you were together". I then had to wait 4 days for the refund to post on my credit card. The theatre needs a remodel, cool in 1999 dated and tacky in 2020
cool Imax
Experienced a fair amount of talking during movies when I've come here. I prefer Landmark cinemas at New West, where you can choose your seat and the seats are more comfortable and recline a bit.
I remembered they had machines where we could simple pay using our debit/credit cards. Now we have to wait in a huge! Line and get our tickets. I won’t be seeing anymore movies. It’s sad that they want your email to pre buy tickets and now they want you to wait in a long line up. I miss the old days on cineplex. Can’t wait for streaming new movies in the futures.
Always busy but theatres are consistently clean and well maintained. Visual and audio quality is great as you'd expect from such a busy location!
This movie theater is really nifty! Can’t believe I’ve never been to one... They’re like a TV, you see, but try to imagine something on a much larger scale. At least twice the size. The screens at Cineplex in Metropolis were huge! Makes you think they’re compensating for something... It is kind of weird to sit in the dark with a bunch of strangers but you get used to it. The middle-aged guy who scanned my ticket was very friendly and made me feel good about my life choices. Very clean and reasonably priced. I give this movie theater two thumbs up.
Watched movie at screen 1 recently. The seats suck. Not a great sound system too. The worst is the ads playing for around 30 mins before the movie. Didn't expect this atmosphere at metropolis.
I love coming to this theatre! I go here regularly since Metrotown is super close to my house and I don’t want to go anywhere super far to watch a movie. I go here all the time with friends and family, as well as my boyfriend. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Theatre is kept super clean during covid!
Very expensive, little value for your money. Staff is rude, ticket printing machines are more often than not out of paper, and I've never had my food order correct on the first try. Not to mention their overpriced drinks do not come with a refill.
Cineplex cinemas in metropolis are a very busy theater. There are a lot of screens nestled inside the shopping mall. So get your tickets and spend some time shopping before or after your movie. This is a busy place so be prepared for the experience. Lots of free parking available underground.
It is frustrating to buy tickets in advance and then still have to wait in the line with everyone else to get to the mobile pick up machine. It makes zero sense. It seems they are trying to automate a lot at this theatre, to everyone's detriment. The pop machines are self serve now and half of them were missing most of the flavours when I was there. The staff, though helpful, seemed overly busy. Seems like a lot of poor management going on.
I love movies. Hotdogs and nibs, best snack combo with a bottle of water. So many great movies to see this summer!!! The assigned seating is a nice touch and means you're never surprised by where to find a spot.
First and last time I'm watching a movie at Cineplex. They're all about social distancing but when it comes to people leaving after the movie at night, they jam everyone in 2 elevators lol. They locked the stairs gates for some reason (?!?!?!). It looks like they didn't prepare at all for the re-opening, a poor girl was staying with a paper and pen, taking everyone's name and phone no before going upstairs. We're in 2021, you should give her a freaking tablet! On top of that, the movie tickets have the same price as Landmark, but no recliner seats. I'd rather drive 5 mins more to Landmark in New West.
Nothing extra special about this place - cinema going seems to be a fairly homogeneous experience. They have some fancier seating in the upper rows of the theater, but either they don't recline, or I couldn't figure it out. Staff were friendly!
We usually go to Landmark for movies, but sometimes we're just at metrotown for the convenience. We find the audio way too loud (for action movies at least), which makes it hard to enjoy the show because I'd have to plug my ears with my hands every time the most action is happening.
Large theatre with at least 10 screens. They've got the coke infinity machines which are nice cause you have so many choices! Friendly staff from what I saw. They have family favourites on Saturday mornings for $3 ! That was Home Alone and Elf playing this month (Dec 2018). SCENE rewards are always awesome. Be sure to grab the upgrade for a combo and the digital movies!
Just a regular cineplex cinema. They have a super wide variety of fountain drinks at their automated machines
It is amazing here. The picture and sound quality is on next level in cineplex cinemas
Excellent health protocol enforced at entry point and inside the cinema. Even the purchasing of tickets is easy with barcodes all ready for entry. Not too many patrons inside and enough space in between customers in terms of seating. Feel secure with their SOPs.
Awesome place to catch a movie. Location is perfect since it's right by a mall and SkyTrain station as well as buses with plenty of parking space. Theatre doesn't have IMAX which is the only drawback I can think of. Recliners would. E nice but that's a bit a stretch for Metrotown. Highly recommended for a casual movie night.
Movie was great. But for the price paid ($60 for poutines, 2 fountain drinks and seat tix), I could have gotten way better quality of food elsewhere and better seats (in terms of comfort, not placement with regards to screen)
I have been here since I was a child, this movie theatre has a special place in my heart. I have had so many great memories here, some employees need more training but overall I love this theatre
Watched Bad Boys 3 last night in AVX (forgot how big the avx screens were...sat too close). Volume and image quality is great, seats can lean back but not lock in place. Good selection of food & drinks (aside from the standard concession stuff) for the room they have. Minus a star because they seem to cater to blockbuster and Asian film flavor crowds. If you're looking for indie or smaller release films, you probably need to look elsewhere which is unfortunate as Metropolis is such a convenient location with ample parking.
The sound; truly devastating, to the core. The sights; a screen taller and wider than any you've ever seen. The smell; a popped corn sweeter than that you've ever tasted. If you've ever considered yourself an aficianado of an illusion that transpires in front of your lying eyes, this is your opportunity to indulge. There will never be a chance that could compare, and somewhere deep within your empty husk, you know this is a truth that you've been avoiding, but you can avoid no longer. This is true honesty, and this is the time you have to lie back, and let it wash you clean. On the other side, you will emerge clean and unburdened, fresh for a new day. Saw avengers here. Quick and nice. Recommended.
The stadium like seating coupled with covered parking is a real treat. Sounds from the speaker systems are quite loud especially if you are in the first few rows. You can get espresso to pulled pork sandwiches to a variety of snacks including candy and popcorn. Dont forget to sign up for a Scene card so you can be rewarded for all your purchases.
I love the theatres they are very clean and the staff is very kind. They have many stations to fill up pop and a bunch of cool gadgets like things for certain movies. They also have a Starbucks inside and another place which sells poutine!
Just another cookie cutter theatre. The Ultra AVX 3d Atmos are decent. I noticed a problem with AC a few times, which is uncomfortable with a room full 100+ people. I think I just prefer VIP theatre's now a days, which unfortunately this location does not have.
Busy place. If they clean more inside theater, I will be so happy. Sometimes some of pop corns are around floor. Looks not good at all. But staff are awesome!!
Getting a bit dated now with the seating . Covid Safety protocols were on point . Needs an overhaul in the cinemas to bring it up to standard . Based on Park Royal , Brentwood standard.
The theatre was clean and had good sound and visual quality. They follow Covid protocols and will ask for vaccination card or certificate.
Clean and spacious. Friendly employees.
I love it! I'm going for free this days. Too bad there are not good movies :(
Movie theatre is pretty clean and they are now using vaccine passport. However when we went to watch shang chi during previewsthere was no picture just audio and we had to get up to ask someone to fix it multiple times was worried that shang chi may show the same way but eventually it was fixed
Metrotown Cinemas happen to have a great selection they're always extremely busy and the popcorns warm and delicious. If you stop by on Tuesday it's even more busy however it's a great source of entertainment for the whole family
Definitely dropped quality over the years. Rarely come to fight for seats and pay these premium prices anymore unless it's at the newer VIP Coquitlam or Marine area. Today we bought tickets for Tuesday and sat down. Both seats had nice big holes in them and mine didn't even sit right, it was broken at a slant. Figuring what the heck it's cheaper tonight anyways might as well watch the darn movie. 10 mins in I'm starting to get itchy skin. I get home and realize I got small angry welts where I was scratching. They got fleas here or something?.. oh boy...
If I'm going to pay $70 for two people to see a movie, it'd be nice to have a clean theater. The washroom looked and smelled like a night club on a Saturday night. Despite the messy washroom, the janitor had time to yell at me for refilling my cup with water, and then stood over my shoulder to make sure it was just water. I won't be going back.
It's in need of some repair and updating. The theatre we were in tonight had very uncomfortable seating. I never feel comfortable using the washrooms here...
We went on movie Dune and I was quite disapointed with the quality of the screen. We didn t want 3D so we went only on regular, one in Metropolis Vancouver aud 4. But I didn t expect quality of home projector. When there was bright scenes I could see scratch in the middle of the screen and on dark scenes I couldn t see almost anything. And the screen was reflexting red light from ambient lightning on the stairs. So most of the dark sceens were red from the bottom of the screen. I don t exactly know how theather projectors work, but it looks like it has bulb beyond its life time. And when I wrote them this issue, they didn t bother to reply. Sh.tty company
They don't have recliner seats for general tickets. Seats are tight and uncomfortable. Although, screen and sound system is great.
Could be better, the lighting in here is a bit to dim for me. When I visited the floor was filled with spilled soft drinks and popcorn ????. The seats are pretty standard, nothing fancy. Don't be expecting leather sofa seats like landmark. As for sound and picture quality it was amazing, the screen is alot bigger than landmark's. Other than that I'd say it's a pretty average theater nothing special here. It does have a cool entrance and window view though I'll give it that.
Everything about the experience of going to this theater is abysmal. More expensive than anywhere, interminable ads, small portions for more money, no self serve 'butter's, no reclining seats. I hate this theatre. Go to the one at new west station, it's the best.
Good food, good sound quality, 3D movie experience is average. Staff is friendly and the premise is clean.
The theater is super clean and awesome. I always enjoy a show here! The popcorn is good with extra butter, but candies and drinks are way overpriced. A combo of drink, candy, and popcorn can run a bill upwards of $25. You might as well save some money and buy it downstairs. Ordered food here once and waited for half an hour, by then the movie had started and i showed up 20 min early. Used BOGO coupons from Cineplex on AVX theaters, and just so you know, it's price of a ticket plus $5 which is baffling, since it's not really BOGO after all. Works with regular seats though.
You guys ever pick up your phone? Been trying to call for 5 days now and always no answer or would say “ your call can not be completed at this time please try again later” I’m trying to get a refund on movie tickets I booked online due to it was cancelled because of the recent bomb threat at Metrotown. You guys are not making it easier for people to contact you.
It's in the mall so the plus is something to do before and after the movie. There are less movies playing at this location and fewer large screens. The plus is there is reserved seating for all show formats. Being a small space with high traffic cleanliness scores low.
I have gone there for many years, I like the variety of theatres etc. I went last night and for some reason our D-Box seats were not working. I told the manager after the show and she gave me 4 free passes. That was good customer service
Emily was an absolute joy at the concession, she was incredibly friendly and warm. She went above and beyond and anticipated all our needs, she absolutely made our night!
Theater experience is always one a kind
Very good ???? enjoyed
Pretty busy most of the times, but that doesn't matter if you reserve seats online beforehand. The theater has always been clean when I've gone to it, and the staff are always straight to the point when I order something. I appreciate how easy it is to just go in, get your snacks, then go watch your movie. Also, Tuesday movies are cheaper than normal!
Fine place, I watched "Avengers: Endgame" here, a bit cheap.
My husbad and I were declined access because of our bubble tea. I asked why not and the employee literally pointed to a sign that said no drinks allowed and didn't say anything. So pretty much they want you to purchase a coke and popcorn that is $20 only from them otherwise God forbid you having a bubble tea in their establishment to see for a paid movie . Very disappointing customer handling and even more stupid no food/drink policy. Nowhere else you will see that "policy". It's all to make money off of you. Not returning or recommending this location to anyone. Silver city Cineplex at metropolis who?
Cineplex movie theater with Avs, 3D, Dolby Atmos and other features. Comfortable seats including some Dbox motion seats. Normally clean. Stadium seating with good incline ( for good view over rows in front). Snack bar with popcorn.
Not that pleased food here is very overpriced and when I watch the movie Game Night on Good Friday last day of March I ordered a M&M chocolate for $4.00-5.00 and I was a bit grim about that. Watched the movie afterwards I got home and had a Bad headache may or may not come back again.
Bought some popcorn from the theater for a movie night at home... found moldy peices of popcorn, so obviously they never clean out the machines. Sorry to everyone who had to eat that in a dark theater never noticing!! Disgusting
Large movie theatre inside the mall. The theatre caters to the young crowd with mostly blockbusters and easily digestible fare. The theatre is in heavy use and things get worn down quickly. I've experienced getting a broken seat several times. Looking for a deal? Movies are half price on Tuesdays. Another deal: buy movie passes from Costco in advance.
i have great experience with the theatre. i nice clean and big. and the worker r very friendly and helpful and i feel very comfortable been other. also get movie
Convenient location, considering there's a bus loop and Skytrain station in the area. It's a Cineplex location, so everything inside is clean and well handled as you would expect. Watching movies is one of my favourite things to do, and when I'm not doing it in the comforts of my home, this is my go-to place. It's especially great going with friends. Additionally, they seem to host some free movies from time to time for a number of causes, which is really nice! My only gripe is the food is terribly expensive.
Like most cinemas, because there are so much traffic all the time, it's hard to keep clean and maintained. Especially the washrooms. It's a rarity to walk into a stall not to find something wrong with it (the toilet is filthy, theres no toilet paper, the door wont close properly, there's no lock). Another thing is the prices for food are quite expensive. Yeah, I still ask for popcorn once in a while, but I feel bad for my husband when I do. Such a rip off. The prices are jacked up sky high just because they can.
Was not too comfortable going to this place ....was ok
It was pleasure after so long they are open. Nice and clean .
Went to see Free Guy, it was an actioned packed flick????
watched eternals, it was good. the people behind me an my girlfriend kept kicking our ???? an saying provocative things about the characters, really wanted to say an do something about the nuisance, everyone was enjoying the movie too much so we bit the bullet.
I always go to this cineplex. Nice and clean
Update: Because of my work situation I was spending at least 1 night out at the movies every other week. Over 20 visits a year. Last film I watched had about 8 to 10 people in the audience. I had to close the door. Half the audience thought they were in a coffee shot. The two closest to me maybe thought they were in a hotel room. Never watching a film at a Cineplex again. I can get Netflix and Amazon prime and still save hundreds of dollars a year. I just have to make my own popcorn. By far one of the worse movies places to visit. Seats are fine. Screens are generally fine. Place isn't that clean. Food is expensive and the movies aren't cheap. Staff never close the doors at movie start. By far the worst part is the other movie goers. Guests are horrible. I can't seem to see a film without someone talking behind me the entire movie, kicking my seat or surfing their phone directly in front of me. I don't see how people can blow $15 on a film and $20 on popcorn and a drink then talk for 2 hours. And these aren't kids, or teenagers.
I liked my experience of Cineplex cinema. I took my son and his cousin for a very late showing of "Ant Man and the Wasp." My son bought some combo and we devoured the popcorn. I miss fresh popcorn with butter in Canada. Australia sucks as the popcorn is so salty and not freshly made nor do you get a choice to have melted butter. The seats were quite spacious. My son laughed as while we were watching our movie there was a guy sleeping and snoring up a storm. He said it's just like watching a movie with Dad. I was surprised how full the theatre was considering the time. The front staff were very helpful and got me signed up to their rewards card.
It's clean. Few people are watching and they make sure there's social distancing. There was like 5 empty chairs in between to maintain distance which is good.. but the cost went up for about $5?
Go Tuesdays for discount and sign up for scene card for additional discounts. There is always a queue to buy your tickets there but buy online, pick up at the theatre to save yourself some time. All self serving kiosks will allow for ticket pick up, not just the one by the escalators.
It's okay very disorganized and could use more people actually selling in the concession instead of walking around.
felt good to see a movie again...just shouldn't of seen black widow ????
it was meh, floors aren't swept much gross that you can easily step on popcorn. overpriced for stale popcorn, felt sick after eating the popcorn. it should be fresh not stale but in theater business they sell old popcorn because they can get more money off from you. this was 2 weeks ago and hopefully management knows stale popcorn is gross. at least when I go to Landmark I can have popcorn that doesn't taste like old things yuck.
Uncomfortable seats.
Crowded rooms during omicron wave and if you go late, there is very little instruction on how to get out to the parking lot as the mall is closed. You see people going back and forth confused and overcrowding elevators.
Good sound but I wish they had the reclining seats like in Landmark New Westminster as they're much more comfortable and don't cost extra. Also find because this location is in a busy mall,, the cleanliness isn't always up to par
We went to see Fast 9. This was our first time in a movie theater in a year and a half (covid). The check was great! Really nice manager on duty! The ladies bathroom stalls were gross. Mind you it was the movie going women that had visited that day who messed up the place. I am wondering why Cineplex staff didn't check and clean it?
They have these new machines to buy and pick up tickets that are an absolute pain to use. The staff is as helpful as a wet sock. There's mice in auditoriums.
nice, clean and it has all the amenities. The people are nice and you can get served fast. The games are a good memory of what you once had
The cinémas is still running as usual
Customer service here helping out the lineup in a swift way, a good experience. Within 5 minutes we were sitting on the chair waiting for the movie to begin. The audiovisual experience was OK, not the best though. The location of the cinema is super convenient.
So friendly and efficient. They rapidly cleaned up any accidentally made mess. Ticket guy was super happy and I was stoked on his enthusiastic attitude. Older seats but, pffht we aren't picky.
I have been going to this movie theatre for a long time now. Comfortable seating, clean venue, and a good movie selection deserves five stars anyday. Not to mention, it's super convenient to get to by skytrain or car as it's located right inside the mall.
The theatre was clean and surprisingly decent sized. The food and drinks are extremely expensive though so I don't suggest ordering anything to munch on during the movie unless you sneak some food in yourself. Best part about this location is that there is a mall right under it.
great staff. gauri was helped us with what we needed when we were there and answered questions for us. the theatre was also very clean and we had a good time watching our movie. thanks!
Had an awesome experience, went to go get some frozen yogurt and Holley was a treat (no pun intended) to deal with. She was super helpful and just had a great attitude. Thanks for the great experience.
Free parking, good food; clean theater.
Terrible management. The movie got stuck twice or thrice towards the end. We complained about it. A simple apology for ruining the movie experience would have been nice. Instead the manager didn't apologize. Claimed the movie only got stuck once implying we were lying or exaggerating. We don't care about compensation. Simple manners in customer service is appreciated. Normally people say " I'm sorry for the inconvenience and we working to fix the issue". Instead we got " I had a friend in there and she said it happened once". Customers don't care about that. Just good old fashioned genuine customer service where we feel you guys care that come regularly and spend our money. Very poorly managed and clearly cineplex doesn't care to address this with proper training. Very unprofessional.
I don't believe the "Ultra AVX" deserves its label... It's essentially a 20% surcharge over a regular ticket, for a not-so-much bigger screen, definitely not large seating, and a sound setup that's just about the same as a regular theatre room... I would recommend other locations, particularly if you're into sci-fi and action movies. The room itself wasn't the cleanest we had seen either. At least the movie was great and we enjoyed it anyways so hence the 3stars.
Based on my personal experience that is my opinion: Range 0 - 10 Service or Product: 8 Customer service: 7 Environment: 7 Cleaning: 7 Washroom: 7 Cost: 6 Accept Bitcoins: No #RCrecommendsit I love cinema. And it is a nice place to go. Clean and quite during the weekdays.
Overpriced and lights came on in middle of show. Dont get butter on popcorn they have at the condiments
We practically had to peel ourselves off the seats after 2 hours because the theatre was so warm... Also surprised and annoyed to hear that they no longer offer refills on large drinks or popcorn. C'mon Cineplex, you can do better than this...
Attended a matinee with D-box 3D. Not impressed. With only 4 people in front of me it took 10 minutes in line. The fellow taking tickets didn’t point me to the 3d glasses and I had to go and ask. The vibrating chairs are interesting for the first 30 seconds, after that it becomes annoying. All this for $21.00. Something I will not repeat. Back home , 3d only costs me $9.00
Conveniently in Metrotown, but gets over crowded during opening blockbuster weekends and the immediate cheap Tuesday. They need to organize their lines better during peak periods.
I really like going here because this theatre allows you to select which seats you want right when you buy the ticket. This means that you don't have to come early to ensure you get a good seat. This seating arrangement is for all showings including general showings. It does get really crowded during weekends and Tuesdays because of its convenient location.
Haven't been here in a while. It's starting to show its age. The staff were friendly, the pop corn was good and the seats were comfortable.
I wonder who decided to leave only one ticket pickup kiosk and replace the staff with the stupidest and most illogical/counter-intuitive machines that still require a staff member to be around to explain hoe to buy more than one ticket kr use scene points or do both at the same time, etc. The theaters themselves begin to smell like they are in dire need of a good carpet wash. You know that old movie theater smell? Yup, its getting to that point. Used to be my favorite theater, but the ticket buying and pick up experience at this location only got worse over time. If youre gonna cut costs by removing a few minimum wage workers (a dick move btw) at least ensure that the technology replacing them can do better or on par with them.
Ok movie theater except that there are too many cell phone users and talkers when the movie is on. I have to constantly ask them if the movie is interuping their conversation or why they are so important that they need to text or have their cell phone on. I should not have to police the theatre to enjoy the movie I am paying good money for. Will not be my first choice to see a movie.
I used to like this place. Good theater.
Friendly atmosphere. Too many self serve features for the costs ... it would be nice to pay to a staff member who gets paid instead of just machines. Tight seating. Small playzone for games. Minimal seating near concession while waiting. Could be cleaner.
It's ok to go for a movie once in awhile, but not all the workers are polite.... One female manager is extremely rude.... Overpriced food.... Maybe try it again in a couple of years
Great place to have fun and watch awesome movies w/ ur girl ????
great to get a bite to eat then see a movie in the mall, great convenience. Dont grocery shop and expect to get in as no outside food isnt allowed. It's now self serve only and 1 cashier for extra help, which is kinda disappointing. Reminds me of workers being replaced by machine.
This is now our go to Cinema ( except for when we do VIP) it's got a lot of great features like the freestyle soda machines, frozen yogurt place, Coffee and Outtakes menus, and easy parking. The downside is that it is always busy.
Very chaotic place. Always long line to buy tickets. The staff at ticketing never smiles and there’s a incredibly rude guy who is tall, big looking with an odd eye. He is rude teenagers and children. He yells at us to confirm if we are together. The people at the popcorn booth are pretty nice though. You can smell the popcorn all the way from Superstore and McDonald’s.
They need to upgrade the tech, downgrade the prices, allow refills, and be a little less corporate and much more more family. I stick with Landmark these days, typically. Much more comfortable in every way.
Very busy but lots of awesome features (including TimePlay) and a huge variety of concession. If you're going to see a big name new release do consider buying the ticket an hour or two in advance and just hanging around the mall meanwhile because this is a super busy location that does SELL OUT!
Theater was good, but the floor was very sticky.
Very dirty. Chairs are almost broken. Seat covers are very coarse and cracked. Very bad at hygiene. Very small washrooms. Very dirty washrooms. dirty carpet. Shows are not punctual, expect a delay of about 20 mins, too many ads. Lots of kids and not a very decent crowd.
Lame. Also went with my son's east Indian friend (9 yrs old) and wOw did we get treated poorly. Kids were shooed away from the arcades despite having money and a few other incidents like that which have never happened before. Screw the extras I'll be spending my money at Landmark theatres
Very disappointed with the guy handling my order. He was not wearing gloves and I didn’t see him wash his hands after serving the person ahead of me and he was holding my cup for my soda from the inside when he gave it to me. I reminded him nicely that with the covid going on, i hope he kept his hands clean. These people being the front liners should have a training on proper hand hygiene!
Nice cinema, comfortable seating; youngish staff, attentive and friendly, not so much food choice, though, and the restrooms are way too dirty!
When the World said “Nahh , that’s impossible”, Marcus said, “I gotchu Fam”. Really happy with the service all thanks to Marcus. I wanted to reschedule my showtime and the tickets I bought were with scene points, got there at the very last minute and Marcus simply said it’s no big deal and helped me get another showtime for the same day. I didn’t wanna miss this movie and I cannot thank Marcus enough for helping me sort this out. Thanks a lot Man. Dear Cineplex, if you’re reading this, get this man a promotion, he’s calm, professional and an asset to the company.
Terrible experience. Long story, but nothing worked and I ended up losing over an hour of my day. Avoid this theatre.
Usually pretty nice. A little dirty. They are the first theatre that searched my backpack... why you do that man.. I guess its good for security reasons but I prefer other cineplex theatres now.
Glad to able to go for a movie again. Thanks for the staff for keeping the area safe for everyone. Feel absolutely comfortable while others are also social distancing. And seating far enough from each other so definitely worth going especially it costs less than renting nowadays!
Watched How to train your dragon 3 two weeks ago, the environment is good. The seat could be better. The foods are really overpriced. The overall experience was good.
The theatres aren’t in the best condition; it’s visibly evident that floors aren’t sweeped thoroughly as there is popcorn little crumbs on the floor. However, the staff are very friendly and do their jobs mostly well!
I use glasses so I have to put on 3D glasses over them. At the end of the movie, I the pair of glasses into the recycling, and leave. This is like 12am -ish. When I feel my glasses, they feel a lot softer than usual. I pull them out of my hoodie and to my demise, I had chucked my actual glasses out. I quickly called them and told them about it, and they actually went and looked through the bin and found them, and had them waiting for me when I returned the next day to get 'em. Thanks a lot guys!! PS: The movie was dope
It is a pretty good location as its in the main city hub. PS- we can bring outside food inside the theater.
Easily the worst theatre in Vancouver! Management is a joke. They are apathetic and do nothing. So many problems. Screen not working, dirty bathrooms, staff has no training, TimePlay always glitches, etc. In general just really inefficient running of a theatre. Also audiences here are the worst in town. Constant people on their phones.
Not comfortable chairs and wasn’t happy with my popcorn almost dry
Staff was nice, service was efficient when ordering food. Seats were comfortable. Auditorium was clean as far as I could tell. Overall positive experience that left me satisfied.
Went there with my family. This theatre is in a convenient location. It’s got lots of parking options but seating could be more comfortable like they’ve done at Landmark in Guilford (Surrey).
When theres good movies i cant wait to watch ill wait long enough till the crowd is a bit smaller to go check out a movie the only down side is some people dont respect the reserved seating and leaves so e people lost other then that i love this place grew up in this theater you could say
The seats were comfortable and the movie sound was great.
Give this place 2 stars, its always so dirty, the theater was disgusting, the chairs uncomfortable and the station with the napkins is always dirty. The service wasnt to great either. They really need to step their game up. Not impressed, try avoid this location.
The staffs here were very friendly, I love their smile on their faces. They are so very polite when getting customers. The area was very clean, I can see that they put a lot of time and effort into the place. We can tell that the management is very careful in making sure customers enjoy their time and experience here and I will sure to recommend friends and family to come here.
Great venue. Friendly staff. We had a great time. Nice spacious seating with a massive screen and a great play and dining area. Definitely our favorite theatre to attend
i loved it i really liked the games. i wanted to book a show just to play the games????
Nice place to catch a movie. Seats are decent and some are reservable. Pro Tip: Ask to have the buttered layered when ordering popcorn. Cost a little extra, but well worth it.
Overpriced and understaffed.. And the kids they do hire get no training so don't know what to do with simple question like "you automated ticket machine isn't working... Can you turn on one of the other dozen that are here?". Have big screens gotten quite small lately? The trend to squeeze more options and showing means big theatres cut in half and sound leaking from one to the next. I suppose the one benefit is reservable seats at this location.
The reserved seating for non-AVX movies is nice. With the mall just below it allows you to do some shopping or grab some food instead of having to wait inline to get a decent seat.
Chris P and Maria G are both very rude to customers! I felt shamed for Cineplex Cinemas to have such terrible staffs! Will never return to this location since as customer we do have other locations to go with so much better experience!
It is good to be back. However, not very confident that vaccine passport checking are done properly / thoroughly. Considering there is A LOT of people in the cinema, I think in the theater we went to it is filled to 80-90 percent.
Love those cute little aliens hanging from the ceiling. It's a nice theatre, but Landmark cinemas is six out of five stars compared to Silvercity. Sorry, but you can't beat recliner seats!
Not at all good.. service is really really bad... Got so much frustrated .. which I ever felt in my life.. huh
The theatres themselves are pretty nice, and the ticket prices aren't too bad. The entrance area is always crowded. And the concession is overpriced. Recently, the drinks were downsized (though the prices remain the same) - more gouging.
The seats need refurnishing, especially if these are supposed to be "fancy" seats for AVX. There needs to be someone checking in now, and then. I had my movie completely ruined because of some (rather unpleasant words) i swear they broke every single rule. They arrived late, and were not quiet. yes the movie had already started. Then they (and this was throughout the entire movie, all 10 of them in row G) had their phones out, taking video, IM'ing people, ANSWERED THEIR PHONE! yes it rang. checking their phones, putting their feet on the chairs in front, brought outside food. and for some unknown reason... took pictures of the movie... yea, the flash was a reaaaal winner there. I know we were not the only ones angry at these people. there is something about the people who go to this theater that are just.. rude. so we decided not to go to this theater again. but will make the trip to Coquitlam instead
It was fantastic to go see a movie for the first time in nearly two years, but nothing the venue did added to the experience. If anything, it cheapened it. There were no bubbly drinks on site (out of CO2), the cashier didn't warn us of that when we were sold a drink, and there were no drink lids! Drinks are cursed!
It was awesome . It's my favorite theater I go all the time. And the service is always so welcoming and the workers are always so nice. Love it and I would recommend it again to my friends and family. ❤❤❤love cineplex cinemas at silver city at metrotown mall. And the movies are always so awesome.
My kid had a great time on his first little date!
I really like this Cinema. Everything is good
Great theater as always. I watch new movies there with friends and family too!
Compared to coquitlam or Surrey it is behind the times and needs s facelift. Seats don't recline uncomfortable no matter if your in dbox or not. Not what I expected or what I am used to.
They removed the cashiers and made the pre booked pickup at the machine tickets in the same line as the buy at front (now machine) tickets...WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? I BOUGHT THEM ONLINE SO THAT I DONT HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE FOR 20 MINUTES WHILE LAZY/OLD PEOPLE TRY TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO WORK A GODDAMN MACHINE!! Sorry, the fact that they didn't seperate the lines just really pissed me off.
The theatre is old and seats are not comfortable ????
One of the nicest theater in metro town, Good quality screen and sounds.
One of the best movie experiences..
The theater is clean, they practice social distancing on sitting arrangement, the floor is so stickybecause they moped it with industrial sanitizer. The only thing I don't like about is because we watch the movie late at night (10pm) and in the middle of the movie I felt they shut off the aircondition that is so hot that you just want to get out during the movie play. It's a very quiet movie night.
Some worker thought I was gonna movie hop and screamed at me lol
Good one
Worst movie theatre i've ever been. You have to wait almost haf an hour before the movies starts which is the totally waste of time and the seats are very uncomfortable
I waited for almost 40 minutes in line for a ticket. When I got to the stand there was only half a movie left. The manager said he couldn't do anything because there was no lineup. Even though there were 4 people a head of me and the only person working till was anot inexperience lady. This location is poorly managed and doesn't follow cineplex policy or standards. I was extremely disappointed and dissatisfied.
Place is not as big as other Cineplex theaters and so it can be very crowded especially at the ticket booths. Lots of underground parking at Metrotown but there are only 2 elevators which tend to be a long wait if you’re going on a busy day. The self-serve drinking machines are awesome with unlimited refills and lots of selections. Overall, a decent theatre to catch movies!
Busy theatre. Lots of teenagers go here. Bathrooms are cleaner now as Cineplex compared to the old days of Famous Players.
3 stars for the customer service. I went to watch the AQUAMAN movie and it was super cool. But as it was my first time in that movie theater in Metrotown, I was expecting to be assisted by the staff in how to go through the system and get my tickets. The lady didn't even come closer to help me out; she just pointed out where the machines were due you have to help yourself. So me and my friend had to figure out how. At the end, only the guy who checked my tickets and the other guy who sold me the combo were kindly enough. At the end, no matter if technology makes our life easier, we still need some human interaction to offer great customer service. Thank You!
I've had good experiences at this theatre. It's been clean, the foods been done right, the staff is helpful in the off chance you have to ask them anything... While this isn't the main theatre I go to, I do come here at least a dozen times a year. What I can say I like about here is there seem to be less jerk theatre goers who use cell phones or talk.
I really like this cinema, bur wish there was vip screen here or Imax. With ultraAVX it's still valuable visit
I showed up 20 minutes late but that was not a problem. They have 30 minutes of commercials before the movie. The theater is great but ease up on the 30 minute commercials and the billion dollar popcorn.
It's a good cinema. Comfortable chairs with cup holders. Well lightened stairs and row numbers. There is no freshly cooked caramel popcorn, though. I also had impression that I can hear a sound from another auditorium.
JUNGLE. AVOID THIS LOCATION IF YOU WANT A PEACEFUL EXPERIENCE. FULL OF TEENAGERS AND KIDS.
landmark has better seats. still a top notch establishment.
I Watch Finding Dory Here When I Was Eleven With My Mom , My Dad And My Cousins In 2016
Very difficult to find and not mentioned anywhere on the metropolis map. Seats were quite uncomfortable since they were quite wobbly and unstable.
My main theatre for movies - it has everything except VIP. It gets busy but there's plenty of overflow parking directly below the theatre. It's way more convenient since you're able to reserve your seats online and just show up close to showtime.
The staff is great, seats comfortable and the place is clean. Only downpart is that the food and drinks are extremely overpriced, doesn't let u bring outside food (however u can sneak them in its not like they're gonna check ur bag or something), and you cant refill ur drink, which kinda sucks if u finish ur drink in like the first 15mins of the movie. (however if u want u can sneak a refill or two because there isnt anyone guarding the drinks dispencer. I do it all the time :D :P) I doubt the staff care if u refill or not tho.
Most of the chairs are torn and damaged. It is no fun sitting on them for a 2 hour movie when you are wearing a short, or skirt. It simply scratches your thighs, and legs. Floor is dirty.
A great place to catch the latest movies as they have lots of showings and reserved seating for most of them. You can reserve at the desk/kiosk or online. Still slightly more expensive than Landmark Cinemas in New Westminster, though. The seats are large leathery seats that recline back if you lean back, but can get a little annoying of you lean back and it moves when you don't want to. Still a great theatre overall.
The staff work hard and put up with a lot of numbskulls. The women’s bathroom has a horrible smell all the time and is constantly running out of hand towels and toilet paper but I don’t blame the staff, a lot of the patrons are just absolutely disgusting and wasteful people.
Good variety, always have the right time for your. Regular seats are cramped. The place need more cleaning, given the price they are charging you. I would go to other theater which has power leg rest sofa, your own cup holder, 4ft leg room, for a much lower price
1 of the best cinema experience in Vancouver.. Their B-box is must try. Awesome
The place is not easily found if haven't been there before. It's named as Silver city and it's easier to get from outside. Or it's near to the McDonald's.
Apart from its busy mall nature i have no problem with this theater. I like how they have lots of parking options and variety of movies. Good movie theaters, friendly staff and options of shopping while waiting. Recommending
This place is an absolute disappointment. Going to the theatre is an experience and this location knows how to ruin that. If you are around the area try heading out a few more Kilometres to Landmark Cinemas, if not - enjoy the stale popcorn and the bad visuals
It's great that they now let you reserve seats for non-AVX movies, but they really need to replace the chairs. They are all worn and cracked.
I live close by so I visit this theater about 2x a month. Free parking downstairs and theres an elevator that leads straight up to the theatre. Fastest way to skip the line is reserving or booking tix online. Second fastest is use the self checkout line. They've replaced cashiers with machines now. You can get Outtakes here which has pretty good food. Come early to play TimePlay. Cheap days on Tuesdays!
You guys should also case Punjabi movies in recliner seats. It sucks to come at your place and sit at those uncomfortable regular seats.
I dont get why i cant bring my own drinks into a movie theater whats the worst that could happen it drops on the floor and makes a mess that happens with their own drinks ALL THE TIME!!! so i had to put away 20+ of starbucks with my family because the STUPID! girl right after that guy clips my ticket took made me put my drink away! this may sound like im being over dramatic but the rule makes no sense! and this isnt the first time its happened. people have been smuggling food into movie theaters for decades probrably when are they going to get that WE PREFER TO BRING OUR OWN FOOD!! and not waste our money on your crappy nachos and coca cola slushies that taste nothing like coca cola but just taste like fruity ice.
Soo bad seats !! They really gotta do something if they people to be seated for 2 hours
I watched the Aquaman today. The seats in the theater are not very comfortable and looks old with broken fabric on the seats. They need to renovate the seating. Landmark cinemas have much comfortable seats with pull out recliners.
Seats are all torn up, screen seems a bit small compared to newer branches. Always packed and inside the theatre seatting area is usually quite messy... But, convenient location by skytrain...
The seats could use an upgrade. Also there was 13 minutes of ads and only two movie previews. It was a ridiculous amount of advertising to have to sit through one commercial after another after another after another, once the "movie" started! If the movie says it starts at 6:35 you shouldn't have to watch almost a quarter hour of ads before it actually shows a couple of previews and starts. Considering how much it costs between the tickets and the snacks, it's just pure greed to force your customers to watch that much advertising!
The theatre was full and the air conditioning wasn’t turned on. Service at the food station is slow when a cash register is closed usually it has signs but not here, a line was forming and staff doesn’t even care.
It's OK. Not the biggest of Cineplexes
Cleaner than before covid but still people are just messy and annoying to enjoy a movie. Online stream at home seems like a better choice
The staff was courteous and quick. But... the theatre I was in was not the cleanest. There were things stuck to the screen, which were really distracting while watching the movie.
Great service and solid rewards program for SCENE
Pretty decent movie theatre. The food is expensive as expected, but the the regular sized popcorn bag is huge. The seats are pretty worn out and cracked, but the movie experience is still great.
Terry in the backstage Bistro is so nice!!! Thanks you make my day ????
Watched Angel Has Fallen last night with a friend. Literally the worst experience ever at this cinema. Ads prior to the movie had the perfect amount of volume, but when the movie started, someone decided to boost the volume making it extremely uncomfortable to enjoy. My friend and I had to plug our ears the entire movie to somewhat enjoy it... Also noticed other movie goers plugging their ears. Also no staff members around the area at that time either (probably because they want to hurry and go home, it was a late night wednesday)...Terrible experience.
I just recently tried D-Box (moving seats with adjusted intensity) and on 3d for the new spiderman no way home movie and it was an out of this world type of experience. Screen could be bigger for my personal taste but still you can get that on an IMAX room I just rather did 3d which has evolve a lot by the way. Food kinda pricy but facilities clean and the enployers follow all the covid protocols and guidelines like asking for proof of vaccination and id, wear masks, etc. Very good movie theatre to go specially if you have shopping to do since it is inside metrotown mall.
It feels like this is the only Cineplex that has not gotten any upgrades or renovation. The place is always a mess and they're always understaffed so there's always long lineups for concessions. The theaters have not been upgraded to reclining seats where majority of the other Cineplex have been and you're still paying the same price as you would pay at other Cineplex with much better seating and smaller wait times.
This place is mostly crowded. It never went empty but I got to watch the movie that I wanted with my Fam. I require you to watch during Tuesdays since it's cheaper. Don't forget to bring your own drinks so you don't have to spend more.
Cineplex is a nice place to see movies; however the place is not really clean and their machines are always out of sodas. sometimes people who is working does not really help if people needs help with the computers or when they are in big line ups.
I have been going to Landmark for years but wanted to see Bohemian Rhapsody and only Cineplex was playing the movie. I will ALWAYS choose Landmark over Cineplex. The carpet smelt musty and old the seats were ripped and small. There was limited leg room especially when the person in front of you had their seat reclined and my shoes literally stuck to the floor. On top of that Cineplex is more expensive even if you buy the Costco pack. Not impressed. Won't be back. If you value your money please choose Landmark.
Floor is clean enough, sometimes not. Waiting line and time is acceptable. Public restrooms available. Employees are basically nice, friendly, and helpful. Credit cards accepted. Located and top floor at Metrotown shopping mall. Free mall parking lot available (both indoor and outdoor).
Always super busy. Try to see an earlier show before all the kids get off school. If you can drive, I suggest the Coquitlam location instead. No where near as busy, bigger rooms, cleaner, and have VIP rooms where they serve alcohol and lounge food. Definitely worth trying if you haven't yet.
Great theatre. Usually quite busy but lots of theatres with a good selection of movies. Sound is amazing in the AVX theatres. Seats are pretty good with a small amount of recline in the AVX theatres. Snacks are extremely expensive so bring in your own.
Expensive prices...worst seats ever...can’t even straighten up the legs...picture quality is a low and so so...sound is bad...maybe all of this was okay in 2000 but you’re in 2019 baby...upgrade or fade away...
The line up is a little bit strangely ended in a place that sometime the staff have a hard time to recognize who is first in the line up. The lobby is a little bit dark and undelighted. Their staff are friendly and helpful. Their newly renovated avx theatre was a wonderful movie experience and it is what worth the money. And the man washroom, after being there so many times, I can always remember the smell of that place, their management may not realized, think about it, every time you finish a movie, you will go to the washroom, and if that part is not good, it stick to your mind as part of the trip, movie come and go, but the washroom stay the same one.
Great place but way too expensive. Yes, seats are comfy, theater is clean, you have a variety of junk food and drink to order but no healthy options. I wonder if can they show more independent movies (for example in the mornings).
I have been going to a lot of theatres around BC and this is just the worst customer service I have ever got from all of them. The seat that I was about to be on was broken it's the F 15 from the AVX 1 so I had to get a different seat. I have no problem with that .So I asked help from this group of cinplex people and so this lovely girl Shantal gladly assisted me .To the box office desk we went and there I meet Isabella , The way Isabella treats customers is very poor. I had a very horrible experience with her. She wasnt very pleasant and she didnt even apologize for the inconvinience. I would rather go far from my place to watch movies than get treated like this. Very poor experience.
We've been coming here for nearly 10 years, staff are very nice, no issues with service ever, always our favorite theatre to go to
I went to see No Time to Die at the 11:15 showing today. Paid parked the car for 3 hrs, went inside the theatre and got my condiments and went to the assigned theatre with 15 minutes to spare. I sat there with excitement to see Bond as the theatre filled up. 11:15 hits and nothing. 30 minutes go by still nothing. 45 minutes go by and finally the manager turns on the lights and tells us they're experiencing technical difficulties and the show is cancelled. Well heck, this is the second time in the last two months that this has happened at this theatre. Snake Eyes was the other movie that was cancelled too. Both times i was reimbursed with courtesy tickets which are useless to me cause i like to pick my seats and avoid line ups. Very disappointing as it was a very expensive couple of hours wasted staring into a black screen.
It's good that they have selected seats but the theatre is messy. Spilled drinks on the floor and urine on the floor in the men's washroom. But I guess the washroom is same for the rest of metrotown.
Really hard to find. No signs in the mall. They don’t answer the call either.
Maybe I'm being a little harsh but there's not much you have to do in order to be a decent movie theatre so I'm faulting them for EASY things they didn't do. Such as not turning any audio on until JUST before the movie started, and then not turning off the guide lights in the theatre until like 5-10 minutes into the movie. Then the guide lights didn't get turned back on until practically everyone had fumbled their way out of their seats and aisles and onto the stairs. Not to mention the outside food/drink Nazi taking tickets at the entryway...
Big, beautiful cinema. Sound is amazing, picture quality is great and the food is really good. The only downside for me are the reclining seats. I find them uncomfortable and get pain in my back.
I've been going here for a decade. It needs a change. The staff were low energy for the most part. Except the guy at the snack bar, he was friendly. The whole place needs a lift!!
Always a great time with a friend to watch a comedy ????
Not worth driving to go to a movie there, a total pain in the you know what, brutal organization, the lines are horrible in there. Most of the machines don't work to do any kind of business with the theatre. The training is bad in general there. The only person I'll give some credit to was the ticket scanner, I'm sorry I don't remember your name, that's the only reason why it didn't get 1 star. A few of the seats were broken in the auditorium we were in. Not very clean either. A typical Cineplex theatre. Thank God for choice, won't be going back there.
I will never return to this theatre. If I could give a negative star review I would. I went to go watch “Joker” in imax yesterday and I had a mouse crawl on my foot. And there was a mouse crawling up the steps next to my aisle seat. I have never exited a theatre so fast. And I’ve never felt so disgusted in a movie theatre. The manager tried to justify mice being there because of a new contract with a new exterminator and that they were working on the problem. Why not close the theatre? Just gross and filthy if you ask me. If you enjoy watching movies with mice by all means. This is the place to go.
Prices for food were expensive but amazing movie Shang chi
Food poisoning from a rank movie theature hot dog. No Regular showings except 1 matinee. Food and 2 adult admissions is now $13-16 each so just to see the movie is $27-30. Seats are no where near as good as landmark theature.
Everytime I go there, i order an americano at their starbucks. And EVERYTIME they stare with a blank look like i just asked them to move a mountain. Today I ordered an americano at 1pm, they opened the theater I guess around 11am...espresso machine wasnt even turned on, and the bean hopper was basically empty. I had to wait a long while for the machine to heat up the water, it took 15+ minutes to order and obtain a coffee....with literally ZERO other customers around me. Not good you guys...I mean..its not a huge deal for sure..all went well...but nobody bothered to turn on the espresso machine within 2 hours of being open? Come on... I did however see they hired a person with disabilities (wheelchair) to greet and scan tickets at the front, which was awesome to see. He was really friendly too.
Expensive to watch a movie nowadays. And don't even get me started on the snack pricing... Although, it is nice to have a selection of viewing formats, (3D, etc.) I still prefer the drive in (Twilight Drive In, Aldergrove). But it's only open from March'ish' to November'ish'.
Cinema is on top floor of Metro town, it has several cinemas and everything from the ultra AVX to even a few non 3D showings. Staff are friendly but my only concern is is cleanliness of theatres. There is usually something sticky under foot.
This cineplex has upgraded their seats and their ticket system so it's much faster and you can pick your seats. So no more lining up ahead of time to get seats! However in the theatre it gets real stuffy with a full house. That's the major reason why I give it 3 solid stars.
Was busy. Staff were helpful
The theater was empty due to COVID-19. Sad but made us feel safer. I hope they are sanitizing the seats which were sold after the shows. Maybe listing the steps theater is doing to sanitize would bring more peace to moviegoers and thus bring more business to them. Anyways wonderful experience for us.
Your average Cineplex movie theatre. It's in a great convenient location on the top floor of the Metrotown mall, it's got lots of theatres and movies to choose from and all the different foods options you could want (popcorn, outtakes and the yogurt place). There's two avx theatres with d box seats and roughly 8 other theatres. The only downsides are that the arcade section is practically non existent though and still runs on coins. Only other bad thing is the management there is kinda AWOL. You'll never see one on the floor and if you have a problem, it takes forever to get ahold of one. Other than that though it'll do if you want to see a movie.
Overpriced for what one gets. 25$ for popcorn & pop for 2! Really? After paying $33 for tickets for 2 adults! They're out of their mind. The movie experience we get nowadays is not worth that much. Movies are not that great... and the popcorn isn't that good either. Don't think I'll go back there.
The number on google and on the cineplex website is a fake number, there is no way to phone in and contact anyone at this location. Going in person to ask a question would be a massive waste of time. Extremely annoyed.
Seats are comfortable, clean floors that aren't sticky with nice sound system. Only negative like any theatre drinks and food price are high but they have to make money some how.
There was a technical problem during the movie with my wife and 3yr old daughter. As a result, Chris and Kareem took very good care of us. Thank you for the generous and professional customer service. Thanks you guys!
Absolute worst movie theater I've ever experienced, just pitiful. Went to see an 8pm showing of The Nun and not long after the show started, a lazer pointer terrorized the screen for a large portion of the movie. Everyone in the theater became increasingly upset, and it didn't take long for obscenities to be shouted by a few which included explicit language. This was largely upsetting due to the fact that I happened to have two of my younger sisters with me. Afterwards I talked to the manager who told me there was nothing he could do due to the fact that we finished the movie and did not complain during, he also seemed MUCH more concerned with me for confronting the party in question (kids shining lazer pointers) by the concessions than the actual problem itself. So wrong, so upsetting, and I'm damn sure that they won't see any more of my business.
There's limited shows that plays in regular version.. most were 3D and I wasn't interested in paying $5 extra per person for the 3D effect but had no choice. They also need to make the movies more affordable. The concession food is always overpriced and if they made it cheaper like the food court I think there would be more families taking their kids there. If Silvercity doesn't have this figured out.. they will end up just like Blockbuster.. out of business. Oh well... Just my two cents!
Still brutally expensive to go see a movie here but not really left with too many options. Costs too much for admission and snacks are RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. We'll at least it is relatively clean and a good selection of movies.
Clean. Good services. Covid protocal in everything. Seating was good and spread apart.
They keep this theatre spotless and the staff are excellent at upholding Covid protocols.
One star for anyone willing to push this sick passport system in a supposed free country. Disgusting.
It seems like years since we've been inside a theatre. This location was covid compliant -asking for vaccination confirmation, social distancing and having multiple disinfecting locations.
Food and drinks are still incredibly expensive but the experience was good overall. It'd been nearly 3 years for me since I watched a movie in theaters so it was great to come in and watch the latest James Bond movie. The staff were helpful and verified that everyone coming in had a valid vaccine passport. They also checked photo ID to make sure that the the passport belonged to you. There were no long line ups and the floor was not sticky. I did notice some stains on our D-box seats but that's not unexpected when those chairs are built to move around during movies. Cupholders and my chair did have some stray nacho crumbs but it wasn't super gross. Was also pleasantly surprised that people lined up for the elevator and respected the current occupancy restrictions.
Convenient, clean but getting run down. Looks like the place runs on minimal staff now. The self serve options are overtaking the jobs. The bathrooms definetly need an upgrade.
The movie theatre experience was fine. The ffod purchasing experience needs MUCH improvement. For the second time in 2 months fries were not available as the fryer is not set up yet. I asked to substitute nachos and was told no by the manager as "corporate" office would not allow it
Very nice staff and safe COVID protocols. All seating was nicely spaced out
probably one of my least favourite theatres to go to - last resort really. Especially now that the skytrain bridge is closed, it is annoying to get to/from the theatre on transit, and there isn't anywhere good to eat/get a drink before a movie anymore. always packed with kids and sticky floors, messy bathrooms.
The movies are great but imagine sitting in a uncomfortable seat for 2 hours! I am not sure about the other theater rooms and seats but the top row seats in theater 8 were utterly awful. The leather is so worn down that it hurts if you don't have anything underneath. I usually go to the riverport silvercity and this is my first time in awhile coming to the metro location. Never again until it is renovated.
Buying tickets online is now necessary for new movies but their website is atrocious for it. You are forced to make an account for no apparent reason, and the site constantly redirects you to other theatres without highliting the fact. I accidentally bought tickets to a cineplex in the wrong city as a result and their 'customer support' line never even picked up the phone when I tried to get help on the matter. The theatre's fine but this experience was incredibly disappointing
Cineplex gift cards are a joke. They never seem to work when booking online and I recommend people dont buy. I just bought tickets online and had the gift card applied but it also required my visa and charged my visa for the full amount and didn't charge any to the GC.
Went to Cineplex Metropolis last night with my family, pre-ordered my tickets online to avoid line ups...to my surprise this location had one blended line up for those buying tickets and for those picking up tickets. They had 3 managers directing the 1 line up of people to the next available kiosk to use. To be more effective/efficient they should at least have 1 section for pick up and the other section for purchase and not all blended. I asked one of the managers why they use this method and he completely ignored me - not one word from his mouth. Perhaps this is a new system for this location; however, they should tweak it and provide better customer service.I heard others complain about this method in the line up...I was not the only disgruntle customer. Perhaps if the manager did not ignore me I would not be writing this poor review. I am giving a 1 star review due to poor quality customer service.
Only few people in the room. Most enjoyable experience of watching movie. Highly recommend to try.
This made me little upset. My family are at movie. Watch free guy at Metrotown I'm little upset the chairs are NOT CLEAN. GOOD THING I HAD WET WIPES. NOW I'm turn off my phone to watch the movie.
Very big movie theater, has lots of showtimes. Lines aren't usually long, have good flow for ticketing and popcorn. Crowds at night can be pretty overwhelming, so many people everywhere!!! And chairs aren't the comfiest, could use an upgrade...
It's silver so of course it's worked with lots of love in there
I got bug bites on my thighs several times after watched movies here. The seat is smaller than Landmarks' cinema. The great thing about this place is that they provide reserved seats for regular movies. Not all cineplex do.
Not so much the UltraAVX theaters, but I have noticed that in the other theaters, seats are reaching the point where they need to be replaced. No IMAX theaters but they do have UltraAVX with D-Box seats. Ample free parking.
Movies are #cancelledduetocovid but you can still purchase overpriced popcorn!
Shannon, an employee at Cineplex Cinemas Metropolis had disappointed me with her unethical, rude, and dishonest behavior on Saturday May 18th 2019. My friend and I left 2 unopened Yifang fruit teas outside of the theater near where they check your tickets because they don't allow outside food (100% reasonable). I was informed by Shannon that they are not responsible for the drinks if lost, so I was mentally prepared that our drinks will likely be gone by the time the movie ends. After we went into the theater, I put my bag down and went out to use washroom, and I saw this Shannon holding my drinks walking towards their break room. I went up to Shannon and asked: "why are you holding my drinks?" and she said "I am doing you a favor, I am gonna put it in the fridge for you." I knew what exactly was going on, but I decided to trust her. I confirmed with her that I could pick it up from their fridge and it'll be there after my movie, and she told me "yes". After I finished my movie, I walked to their break room and asked another employee for my drinks because Shannon wasn't there. The girl immediately said: "it's not here, we don't have it" without even checking. So, I knew then, Shannon did it anyways, even after I caught her. Real disappointment in such a young girl. Yes, it's only two drinks, no money value, but it's really the principle that matters. I don't expect you to be the good person who will watch after my stuff, but please don't be the one who takes it.
This place is terrible. They force online orders to go through the regular queue now. What's the point of paying ahead of time if you're waiting behind people who haven't bought tickets yet. Everyone gets hearded like cattle. What a joke . I'm done with this theatre. Rather drive to a different location than deal with this. No idea how management thinks this ok, multiple people were seen getting upset with this system and speaking to employees about it . Pretty sure upsetting your customers isn't good business practices . Taking my business elsewhere .
My favorite theater to go to! The AVX is big enough that I don't need to bother with IMAX in Richmond. Reccomend it. Also every single theater is reserve seating, so just buy online and show up 5 min before movie starts and you're good to go!
It was very disappointed with covid-19 related concerns when my buddy and I watched Spider-Man in D-Box seats couple nights ago. Even with the tighter covid-19 restrictions from 2 weeks ago, they were no social distancing at all between guests/groups. All guests were assigned right beside another. I do understand theatres need to fill most their seats to maximize revenue especially when it's a new release; we decided not to consume or buy any concessions and had our masks on at all times as the guests beside and in front of us had popcorn and nacho the entire time with their masks off. We were aware of the situation as we were picking our seats but thought it was a joke as other theatres would automatically block a seat or two to comply with covid-19 restrictions.
Great to be here to watch Suicide squad. Both my kids got popcorn licorice and popcorn since it's all about nostalgia.
I go this cineplex very often, friendly helpful nice staff ,hence why I keep going back,it's clean and the seating are good ,would be excellent if the seats were reclining but you can lean back so it's just as good
Great to be back in a theatre. I like assigned seating. Cleaning was good. Not that busy when go on week day
Not a place to bring kids. 25 min wait to buy tickets with the till button issue. We offered to buy other movie tickets just to get in. Denied by manager. Everyone waited. But once movie started, we're allowed to buy other movie tickets to get in. Already late for movie and no one at booth selling food items. Very disappointed. Kids very unhappy. If you want a good movie experience, visit other ones in Coquitlam or Richmond.
Good cinemas and central location; perhaps it's time to upgrade to high-end speakers for sound quality and high pixel projection monitor/screen for better visual effect.
Located in the mall, so you can shop/eat before or after your movie. I find that they don't have as much of a selection as the VIP Cinemas in Coquitlam and movies tend to stop screening earlier, but for the newest movies, there are enough screenings. Seats are comfortable, as with any other Cineplex theatre, and washrooms are always relatively clean.
My only complaint is the popcorn was huge. 1 is good for whole family. And you can't buy from outside, got to be just their food, when you already paid for your ticket
Food takes forever. All the good seats cost more even when the movie's half empty.
There is no stay calm/stay quiet atmosphere while watching movie. People hitting red dotted lights on the screen, Chit-chats while movie is running, disturbing sounds, people making comments on scenes etc. I don't understand why people doesn't have the sense to stay calm and watch movie.
There's always someone with their cell phone in during the movie, or chatting and being obnoxious. It's absolutely ridiculous and it's impossible to focus on the movie screen. Cineplex needs to step it up and solve this issue, it's unacceptable. We go to movies for an escape, to enter a make believe world of tale but the illusion is constantly broken by ignorant people with no support from cineplex. They need to focus on the service they're offering, instead of nickel and diming us every step of the way. I used to go to movies and get pop + popcorn with a date every week but lately the experience here is unacceptable and I'd rather stay home or go to Landmark in New West. I'm your core audience, a movie is my favorite experience. Fix your service or fail fast and let Alamo come into Canada and eat you alive. I'd happily give Alamo all the money every week for a great experience.
First theater in Vancouver where they allow reserved seats for all movies, not just the AVX or more expensive tickets. So impressed by this, saves alot of hassle by not having to come early to get seats for a regular ticket!
Twice my fiance and I went to weekday matinee aafew months ago, and we saw and heard rats inside 2 different theatre rooms. . We heard a rat right under our seats eating something. I kept my feet up throughout the entire move. We mentioned this to one of the cleaning attendants when we were leaving and she said she would investigate. The second time we saw a rat scurrying by the first row and again we mentioned it to a staff member. We have not been back ever since.
I've been to a private screening here twice during these Covid times. I was so impressed with their staff and safety measures. The auditorium, washrooms and common areas were super clean! They sanitize each seat after use and frequently clean high contact surfaces. If you're considering booking a private movie screening, do it! Communication with the Group Events coordinator and the Metrotown managers is excellent, quick and smooth. The service is amazing.
Has a good variety of movies, but the seats are mediocre compared to the comfy recliner seats in Landmark New West/Guildford. Location means pricing is also higher than the aforementioned Landmark cinemas with recliner seats.
Staff are always nice and helpful. There are two greedy corporations in BC: ICBC and Cineplex. $30 for popcorn and a drink but no refills? Come on.
It's a cool cool spot with good movies.. X 3 hrs. Air conditioning when outside is 33 degrees. I enjoyed spending my time there. Senior $10. For a regular movie.
I can't review this place without talking about the mice/rat problem this place has. Every time I go to the theatre to see a movie I see a mouse or a rat running through the aisles searching for dropped popcorn. If I don't see them then I hear them. Aside from that, the theatre seems clean, the staff are nice and the food is pretty good. I wish that they still served beef burgers, since I'm not a big fan of hot dogs or those other sandwiches they serve.
I went to see a movie to escape the heatwave. The AC was not running in the theatre. It was hot and there was no air circulation. This is extremely dangerous with COVID. I told staff. After 30 minutes, nothing happened. It became even worse because they closed the doors. It was like an oven with stale air. I walked out. The auditorium next door had no movie showing and the AC was running full blast. It was nice and cool with fresh air. I was going to see another movie the following day but decided not to waste my money again. Cineplex is very irresponsible and I am very disappointed.
I used the D-BOX here. It was my first time experiencing something like that. It was FUN and EXCITING!! (I watched an Action Movie) If you get distracted easily, you may want to turn the chair down considerably... I found that the movements and vibrations really got me more involved with the movie that I would have been before. Although, it doesn't take that much to get me involved in a movie, the D-BOX made me feel moreso like I was IN the movie (Like IRL????).
Great store, great staff. Professional. Clean. Covid rules followed to a T. Well done
Great Location in Metrotown Mall, close to Rapid Transit Train/Major Transit Hub. The service is exceptional and they have a drink machine where you pour own soda do can mix drink if want
Horrible service at the snacks counter everytime. Bunch of little high school girls trying to prove they are better and more knowledgeable than you. Last time we were there, asked for a breakdown of the receipt as my bill went from 17 to 29. They refused to do it and all 3 of them refused to give their names as i wanted to write it down on the receipt. They all covered their name tags and said "we dont have to give it to you". Manager finally showed up 10 minutes later and offered free popcorn or movie passes. By that time we are already 25 minutes into the movie and would not give both to make up for the hassle. We were a group of four and spent over $100 that night. Funny thing was, manager came out with the passes in hand, kind of like he does this on a regular basis
I have gone to this theater almost every week. Convenient location and great service. Friendly and helpful staff. This theatre is always busy and crowded. Worst, it has food around sticky floors inside where you are taking seats. Bathrooms are sometimes messy. It needs to improve the cleanliness.
This used to be my regular theater a little more than 5 years ago when I lived in burnaby. Yesterday, I went to see a movie and me and my friends sat near the left side of the theater. 40 mins into the movie a RAT literally ran up the side of the wall right next to me. We left right away. The time before that my mom saw a rat scurry across the floor while were were leaving at around midnight. I came back yesterday because I thought that was just a one time thing but nope. Never coming back. I would suggest go to the landmark in new west (I think thats the closest) rather than going to this theater.
Theater had a smell when we walked in, popcorn was all over the floor and the seat was ripped making it pretty uncomfortable to sit in in shorts. The screen and sound was decent, movie started on time. Wouldnt be a top choice but will suffice if desperate to catch a movie.
Convenient location. However like any other movie place the food is expensive. I would prefer a better deal on popcorn and pop. If they charge so much they should at least give free refills.
We recently went Silvercity at metro town to watch Jungle book with my children. Theatre 10 smelled absolutely horrible as if someone had been pooping in their all day. Throughout the 90 minutes of movie, I could not breathe and almost puked twice. Management must look at the cleanliness of premises and have theatres cleaned between shows. It may also be good idea to use some odour neutralizers. While movie watching experience was enjoyable, the hygiene was my biggest disappointment during this visit.
Have been in cinema many times. Always a pleasure to come back for the movies.
The chairs could be spaced out a bit more. Frequently found my elbows bumping into neighbouring person. The visual quality and the sound quality is great.
The main issue with all Cineplex theaters is the aging seats and dirty cinemas. The experience is pretty terrible. They charge premium prices for mediocre cinemas
Only place to watch a movie for full sound experience. Bathrooms are always gross and stanky. Drink machines are always dirty and not always working. So expensive to come for a date or family when you order popcorn and stuff.
This movie theater is the best Cineplex we have been to, we pre-choose our seat which is the best idea ever, whole waiting in line we get free sample of frozen yogurt, which is much appreciated, the people are very helpful. The washrooms are clean, which was a big surprise compare to other Cineplex. Watch Aquaman, best movie so far. Would really recommend this location.
