We went to AMC theaters in different areas within the Chicagoland area and they are either dirty, unkept and the staff doesn’t seem to care. This theatre is a HIDDEN GEM! The staff is friendly and the facility is very clean! Theaters need to take notes from Classic Cinemas. The reviews are REAL! This is what a movie experience should be! Thank You!!!

Best value theatre in West suburbs. $5 movies all day on Tuesday, can't beat it. Good rewards program is nice, and it's free to sign up. They recently added a electronic Marquee on North Ave. and the new West entrance also makes it more accessable.

always loved this place. GREAT new seats. For years, this was the only reason anyone went to the mall, and now I think this is the only thing left. the door is now in a super weird place, but it's still an awesome theater.

My family and friends having been going here for a long time even when Charlestowne mall was actually a mall. They have done a great job updating the movie theaters and hallways, but need to update the refreshments area. Other than that its a great place to see a movie.

Pretty much the only thing in operation at Charlestown, but the individual theater rooms are upgraded and nice. Not sure I care for the assigned seating. Got stuck closer to the screen on occasion, and had to live with it. Would have preferred the option to quickly switch after realizing I made a bad choice.

First time visiting this theater. At first, I thought the experience was going to be terrible, based on the experience at the snack counter. The girl behind the counter seemed like she really hated her job. No customer service at all. The theater was nice. The seats in the theater were very comfortable. I'll definitely give this theater another try. I just hope my next visit is better.

It's a good budget theater. The tickets are cheaper than most other theatres and I've never had any problems with the sound or video. Seats are standard movie seats. I don't usually get refreshments when I go to movies, but they were overpriced, typical of any theater. They just have standard refreshments, not like some theaters that have bars.

This is the best theater I've ever been to. Everyone is kind, it's the best for buttering your popcorn and the seats are ridiculous, in a great way! You can recline all the way back and people can still walk through, no problem. I've even got my husband into watching movies now. He hated sitting at other theaters before because they were uncomfortable and he just didn't fit well. We go to the movies now more than ever. My daughter's and I go about once every two weeks. We used to go once or twice a year. I do wish they had IMAX but everything else makes up for that.

This is a nice clean theater with decor straight out of 2000. The screens are nice, the projectors apear to be updated, the pictures are sharp, seem to be digital. The Sound is solid. They have good stadium seating, but no modern loungers. Don't be put off by the empty but renovating mall, it's all good. I would like to see them update the seating to be a bit more comfortable but, The prices are appropriate.

Classic has worked very hard to make quality improvements to the theater. The butterscotch coloring of the plush, leather, stadium seating is comfortable and clean. The carpeting and tile work have also contributed to the new modern look and feel. Restrooms are clean with the latest Dyson technology hand dryers. The menu has been expanded and now includes upscale beverages, flavored salt station for popcorn, and a help yourself Icee dispenser. Cinema is prepped and ready for the upcoming changes in the St. Charles area.

Tried theater for the first time. Did not have a good experience. Floors dirty, bathrooms messy, rude behavior by employees & lacking attention toward paying customers. Not impressed, other than very low prices. However, those seem reflective of the service.

Theater upgrade looks great and the chairs are very comfortable! Unfortunately, the lights for the chair buttons are as bright as the exit signs which is incredibly distracting. My boyfriend and I just saw A Quiet Place which is a great movie but, the contrast between scenes with complete silence and those with scary moments is deafening. Spent most of the movie plugging our ears and still left with headaches. Terrible planning!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the new decorations! The manager Mr. Zane was very helpful too. (Thank you so much, Mr. Zane.) The concession stand offered me assistance with my Cinemark membership, and fresh pop corn. If you haven't been to St. Charles recently, the entrance to the theator has changed. So, allow EXTRA TIME to be confused ???? but the theator itself is so family friendly. The staff is so knowledgeable and experienced. Best part on Tuesday it's 5$ ALL DAY!

Very good experiences at this theater, especially now that the seating has been upgraded to cushy recliners. $5 tickets any time on Tuesday, and plenty of parking, a good selection of movies to choose from. We will drive 15 minutes past our neighborhood movie theater for these amenities.

Comfortable, great movie selections, reasonably priced. Adding electric recliners to theaters. We love doing a matinee then dinner. Only downside is the dying mall it is in. However a major mall renovation appears to be in works. Recommend you park on west side of theater.

I live in Batavia and so we have Randall 14 by us. Charlestown is cheaper, updated with reclining seats, better picture and sound, has free popcorn and drink refills....so we rarely go to hometown theater. Charlestown 18 has it figured out...and they have a rewards program to boot!

My daughter and I come here once or twice a week and we always see 2 movies back to back! Don't know why, but we do. It makes her happy and I enjoy the few hours we have snuggled up w our cheap $2.50 fleece blankets from Walmart (best $2.50 ever spent!) and makes the movies that much more comfortable w those reclining chairs! Tuesdays are $5 even nighttime screenings. Everyday until 6 pm, movies are $6 adult and child! Can't beat that, and with popcorn and soda; free refills no matter what size you get! The bathrooms are clean; never smells nasty and sinks aren't flooded w water. I'd say all around the place is in my top 5 places to go that are above and beyond!

This theater did a great job updating all the seating. Very comfortable and always clean. I love the free refills for popcorn and pop which I haven't experienced in other theaters (unless it's a Tuesday special like in Marcus). This theater can improve in the food variety area to provide a broader selection besides nachos and popcorn.

You'll drive right by it if you don't know it's there. Inside is like a vintage 80s theater. Good variety in concessions. They even serve beer and other alcohol. The actual theater is great. Seats are super comfy and modern. Sound is great too.

The best and least expensive first showing movie theatre in the area. The only issue I had is now with the remodeling they made us have assigned seating when we went to see Thor Ragnarok on the first weekend. It was busy, so it's understandable. I used to be able to go to see movies on week days and it was never crowded like that. Hopefully the second weekend of Justice League won't be as crazy. Also hoping the matinee prices don't increase. $5 is a great price, $6 would still be okay, but hopefully it won't be $8 or more.

Very comfortable seats that recline & has an adjustable head rest. Plenty of leg room so people passing by aren't bumping & stepping on your feet. When you purchase your tickets you pick the seat that's available to watch your movie. Unlimited fountain drinks from machine & slurpies.

So many theaters in my area aren't doing refills on popcorn, or only allowing one with no refills on slushies. They give refills on everything. The nachos here are my favorite and they'll give you a large amount of jalapenos when you ask. By far my favorite theater. Also, this is the only reason we still have the Charlestown mall.

Loving the new remodel, we went for our first time recently since the old set-up. The tickets process was easier than most movie theaters, with everything being digital. I purchased my tickets online and was able to use the qr code to get right in. The concessions has a self-serve soda station, which makes the lines go faster. The seats were super comfortable, with multiple controls to get you in the position you like most. Would definitely come back.

Saw Summer of Soul matinee. Not crowded and not freezing cold like the theaters can usually be in the summer. The remodel looks really nice and the seats are comfy (all about the leg rest). Although the candy offering is limited, the chewy airheads and cherry limeade icee made things seem normal again, if not nostalgic. Last time I was there was to see IT and the torn wallpaper sections and pulled up chair rails were as scary as Pennywise. Much improved!????

I don’t typically come here anymore and tonight is further confirmation that there is no sense coming to this theater. Does anybody want to tell this movie theater that they make their money on the concession end? Nice theater and staff was friendly but it was a bunch of high schoolers completely aloof and no explanation as to why there wasn’t any concession food items available. No pretzels, no hot dogs, no nachos, no churro bites….. this movie theater is insanely close but I’ll drive 30 minutes to the nearest AMC. They have a generous reward system, large Bavarian pretzels and three different pretzel bite flavors, Mac n cheese bites, hot dogs, pizza, chicken tenders, curly fries….. sorry not trying to be a jerk but as a consumer I like the variety and availability at the concessions. From now on I’ll go to AMC, then Marcus, then Cinemark before I would even consider going to a classic cinema. It’s a shame because it used to be way better. COVID probably had something to do with that but what can ya do.

I love the new recliners but I have a suggestion! You really need to adopt a “no shoes no service” policy!’ Last time we were there the people behind us proceeded to stretch out on the recliners and take off their shoes! It was extremely unpleasant to say the least and due to reserved seating we could not change seats! My daughter was enjoying the film otherwise I would have left!

With the seating upgrades and other renovations, this theater is certainly stepping into the spotlight. I've been going here since I was a little kid, back when Charlestowne Mall was in its heydays. This theater evolved and kept up with all the technological and physical changes of its competitors. Its prices are hard to beat both in tickets and concessions, and the location is great too if you're looking to go out for some good food to discuss the film you just saw thanks to all the selections right on N. Ave. Be sure to catch a film at Charlestowne 18!

Amazing movie theater! Although the mall is nothing but one or two outlet stores, the movie theater has only gotten better! Since about ten years ago, they've been able to afford new paint, new flooring/carpeting, and a new enterance way (a way that one does not have to walk through the ghost-mall anymore). Within the past few years, they've added loubgjng chairs, the hallway space across seats has widened dramatically, and the entire atmosphere seems more professional and luxerious. And the seating isn't just for one or two of the 'iMax' theaters... it's for every single one. The movies they play are on time and new, along with a few callbacks. Just recently, self-serve buttering of popcorn and several self-serve drink options have been added. As of right now, in late 2018, the movie theater seems very stable and has a very good aesthetic taste. I recommend this movie theater and its free drink refills to an absolute percent. Try it, and maybe you'll love it too.

A great place to catch a late movie. Adjustable recliners are the best way to watch a movie, giant cup holders, reasonable prices and plenty of parking make it even better. Quick service at the popcorn counter and beverages have plenty of fizz. 18 theaters means plenty of options for time and movies.

Don't let the awful abandoned exterior fool you, this theater rivals the best luxury cinemas. All of the auditoriums are large with bright crisp displays. The leather recliners go further back than any other I've been in (providing a perfect viewing angle while laying back). You can essentially get the Dolby Cinema experience for a fraction of the price. I saw "Upgrade" at a matinee for $6.00. This place rocks.

Since ticket sales are either done via a kiosk or the concession stand, the 2 employees could probably be eliminated for a turnstile. Also why is it necessary to have a manager wearing a suit and tie walk around with a broom. Manager should take tickets and have the ticket takers that are doing nothing, sweep the floor.

The seating service on your machine is STUPID. pardon my language but it's really ridiculous. I tried buying 2 tickets but it wouldn't let me because it kept saying ERROR CAN NOT LEAVE A SINGLE SEAT.....like am I supposed to buy the extra seat just to get the two seats I want....further more why don't you guys have at least one person near by to help when problems like this occur. Simply disappointed.....

We went to see a 3:20 P.M matinee. I noticed the new recliner seats. We got comfortable, and started watching the movie, when all off a sudden about 6 kids come walking in, sat down right next to us, started making noise with their candy wrappers, and constantly walking in and out in front of us, talking away laughing . What ever happened to the movie attendance that walked around quietly checking for rebel rousers. I had To finally shush them up, they had their phones on too. They finally all got up and left. They were stealing the show away

Affordable price for the movies. The new reckoning chairs are really comfortable and allow you to even adjust the headrest. Popcorn is free refills on every size. It's definitely a place to take your family, but the rest of the mall is not very lively anymore as the department stores have closed down.

While this theater is close to our house it is my least favorite. We go there only because of the convenience and their ticket price is a little cheaper. They recently renovated and put in reclining seats and redid the decor. However, this cannot make up for the lack of cleanliness. The lobby is always sticky, salt on counters, and popcorn everywhere. It does not help that the teens who work here don't seem to know what they are doing and are just plain annoying. Also concessions are really expensive here. Mostly see families and lots of teens attending movies here unlike other theaters.

Amazing experience every time I go here. Reserved seating so I don't have to stress having seats full? They got it. Recliner seats and adjustable recliner and headrest? Great quality, they got it. Cheap movie tickets? Yup. Couldn't name a better movie theatre in my area or even in the country that's better than this. Great place.

I come to Charlestowne at least once per week. I love the renovations and new seats but the theaters are so uncomfortably warm. I used to have a 5 star rating but had to downgrade it and I will probably not be back until they do something about the heat. It's too warm in the winter, too warm in the summer and it wasn't like that until they made the renovations. Classic Cinemas please turn down the heat!!!

The mall may be closed, but the theatre is OPEN! You need to drive around behind the mall. The entrance is at the end of a service alley (I'm not kidding), but this is the best theatre in the area. It has brand new stadium seating and now sells alcohol! Matinee prices are only $7. You can't beat it!

I've been going to this movie theater for over 20 years. I was skeptical when they changed from stadium seating to the recliners, but they keep it clean and everyone gets a good view of the screen. The sound system in each theater is good, well maintained, and set at or maybe above reference level. I like getting free refills on icees and I've even still received mints from an usher on the way out recently. I still chuckle if the ticket checker directs me or another party to the other entrance from the concession area. Most of the theaters are in a long hallway behind the concession stand and both sides lead to it.

Great place to see that new movie that's sold out everywhere else. The mall is deserted, so this theater is never crowded and is always clean. The seats are normal theater seats except the arms move up and down - no fancy recliners.

It was great, but SO empty. It was like walking the halls of the hotel in The Shining. Hard to find the entrance as the bulk of the mall is shut down. I called the theatre when I thought I had located the entrance and the guy couldn't verify it was the right entrance(?!). Oh, be prepared to be freaked out by the geese. Maybe it's just this time of the year, but they were EVERYWHERE. They were acting aggressive, even following us on the roofline of the mall and constantly honking. We thought for sure we were going to be attacked. It was almost like being in the movie The Birds.

Awesome reclining seats and only $6 on a Saturday for the matinee show! Easy to use self service machines and the staff member who checked our tickets was friendly. Good overall experience, though we arrived a couple minutes after the show started because the correct entrance to the building was not signposted from the main road.

Classic Cinemas itself is great. You won't find cheap, crowded seats. They have large fantastic recliners and plenty of space... It's super convenient when some leave for a drink refill or to use the restroom. Gone are the days of everyone standing to accommodate the people entering and exciting. Ticket pricing is fair, though (like every other theatre) drinks, popcorn and candy purchases are exorbitantly priced. Expect to pay 2-3 times your ticket price if you want a drink and popcorn. The only real caveat; the theatre is located in a mall that's empty, practically on a ventilator just waiting to die. Don't plan on pre-show shopping or you'll be stuck in boredom hell. Overall, a decent theatre in attached to a mall on life support. Give it a try... it ain't half bad.

They renovated this theater and it looks real nice with the recliner chairs. Tickets went up a dollar which I can handle. Once worked here but didnt like how management treated adult employees like the teenage ones but being a customer is a different experience.

Great place and great people. Affordable pricing. Only thing that keeps it from being 5-star is the archaic website they use to purchase tickets online. Half the time it doesn’t even work, other times it freezes or errors out (I’m guessing due to traffic). I go there every other weekend with my three kids so I do spend a bit of money there...and it would be nice NOT to have to make several attempts at purchasing tickets online. If you are using a third party for the tickets link, they should be fired and stoned. Well, maybe just fired.

Great place ruined by terrible customers. Last time we went the family next to us were talking loudly and had no shoes on sitting barefoot. Not to mention they trashed the place with garbage when they left. I have a hard time hearing and I could hear the family over the surround sound they were that loud. Other than the terrible customers that existed the establishment is actually pretty great, friendly staff, and very clean (before the slob family ruined it). Prices are great and all around a good experience unless you get the same clowns that say next to us.

Economically priced & they have super comfy recliner seating now. The only drawback is that I've gotten spoiled with someone waiting on me in the theater like Hollywood Palms does but that same day Hollywood Palms only had a choice of 7 movies & none were available in 3D. They said the action movie I wanted to see in 3D was only 3D the weekend it came out because most people don't like 3D, which is the best way to watch an action movie. Also, the hallways at Charlestowne 18 could have used a good vacuuming.

This remains one of my favorite theaters and I hope they stick around for a long time. Before the pandemic they upgraded to extremely nice recliners, and they offer reasonable prices. Concessions are still at a markup, sure, but I've paid more for less at other places. Had a problem with a digital ticket once, and a manager who happened to be walking by took personal responsibility for getting it resolved. The mall they're in is mostly defunct by now but do not let that deter you.

9.24.17 Great place, been here many times. Only reason for 4 stars this time is because it is being totally renovated. Only half of the theater is open at this time. BUT.... they are putting in great new seating to lay back and relax!!! This place has never been busy any time I've been here. Actually. Going during the week and early, you may be the only people watching a movie!!! The entire mall is pretty much empty of stores. There is a weight workout place, and a couple game places that would be great take kids and not crowded. Better than going to any of the other big malls around.

Great movie theater. I came by here on two consecutive days and outside of making a mistake by choosing to watch Slenderman one of those days I just knew I had to be back to watch The Equalizer 2. Comfortable reclining chairs and you get to adjust the headrest seperately from the bottom piece. Overall a good movie theater that deserves a little more attention.

We have been to this theater a lot and I love everything about it. Prices are cheaper than AMC South Barrington, seats.are clean and comfortable (assigned seats , recliners), and sound quality is as good or usually better than AMC. As a plus, parking is convenient and tickets are cheap. I would recommend that you ***** start showing Bollywood movies ***** if you want 6 stars and increased revenues.

Always go here, have been since I was a kid. Ever since the renovations is HOT as hell in all the theatres. Also theatre 7 door needs to be hit with some WD40-squeaking throughout the whole movie as people came and went. Update: one month later we come to see another movie and it’s still VERY warm in the theatre and lobby. It’s August and it shouldn’t be cooler outside than it is inside when it’s 80-somethimg degrees outside.

The movie experience is alive here. The movie area is almost completely remodeled with individual soft leather recliners, new theater lighting, new carpet, wallpaper, paint, and concession stands. New ticket windows. All is good here and at $6 for all the early shows.

We head never been to the Charlestowne 18 Theatre. The lobby is very big, all the employees were very polite and helpful. The matinee is reasonably priced. Getting to your respected movie can be a little daunting due to the size of the complex. We saw the Queen movie, I'd give it 5 starts as well. Thanks for a great night with friends and family

Great place to watch a movie. Very organized lobby and cushy leather recliner seats to watch the movie in. If you're watching Ford vs. Ferrari, make sure you sit in the middle of the second row.

I always enjoy going here. Even easier with the entrance they added by the ticket booth. They recently remodeled and added the loungers which reduces how many people can sit but adds more comfort. The ticket prices I believe went up a little but not terrible still more affordable than most places. They have beautiful theaters, sound and picture, very clean, as well as comfort. Great place to go for movies and I believe they have free refills on popcorn and drinks which most theaters don't. They have a classic cinema card which works at all classic cinema locations which gives you points for all purchases which you can redeem over time. I highly recommend if you like movies to try this location.

I think that this is the original 80s design. It looks and feels really dated. Theaters like Marcus are putting in Dream Loungers. AMC has something like those too. Not Charlestowne. They are showing first run movies and have a budget series from time to time. They also have a handful of video games, so it's a good place for the kids. You can even have a birthday party there in a private room.

I really love the seating, the sound and the picture at Charlestowne 18 Cinemas better than any other in the area. The seats are large, cushy and they recline as little or as much as you like. You get an enormous amount of leg room, too.

First off when we tried to order a cup of cheese we were told they couldn't sell us one so we had to ask for a manager to get 1 cup of cheese. Second, the food is way better at picture show. Third it was unbelievabley FREEZING the entire movie. Everyone had their coats, gloves, and hats on the whole time. So I will not be visiting here again.
