I loved the movie memorabilia but at least one of the staff was rude and the handicapped accessible washroom was locked and I couldn't use the handicapped accessible door to the theatre.. I am handicapped and need to use them as I walk with 2 canes. My husband and I struggled to carry everything as noone offered to help us. The theatre was good and was kept cool even though it was almost full however the seats could've been better and more comfortable for those that are bigger people and handicapped

Lots of memorabilia from decades past. If you ever get the chance ask the owner some questions. He loves talking to customers and will probably tell you way more than you asked. Come early if it is raining. Way cheaper than Cineplex and something everyone should experience at least once. Also, make sure you take in the horror hall which is a tribute to horror movies.

From the meandering parking lot to the airplane-like bathrooms, everything about this place is unusual. We had a good time and the vintage seats were super comfortable. We will definitely visit this theatre (and all the cats!) again.

Super sweet theatre. Friendly staff. With very fast service. It’s quite the experience overall. I love showing its uniqueness off to new family and friends that visit. It’s also a great night out with my husband and our daughter. I would highly recommend Highlands Cinemas.

Certainly should be on any cinema lover's bucket list! The museum is literally grounded by dozens upon dozens of antique film projectors. Kudos for the uniquely designed and very intimate screening rooms which feature high quality audio and visual, and comfortably tilted seats. The feline sanctuary that forms the perimeter of the theater grounds is a real adventure too.

One of a kind experience! From the cat museum to the abundant cinema themed items that are on display everywhere, you quickly realize that you aren't at just any theater! From the moment you walk in the door, the adventure begins! A must see attraction in cottage country! With very reasonable prices as well, this place offers cottagers,as well as locals great bang for their buck, as well as a wonderful way to spend a summer evening! Definitely a family favorite!

I came here when I was very young my moms took me, my cousins, and grandma, we found this gem accidentally, we were actually looking for a garage sale, mind you this was well over 10 years ago’ but it was the best expierence we had ever had! So much to look at, it’s so cosy, and welcoming, the pop corn was amazing... I do remember they only take cash. I now have a daughter and can’t wait to bring her here.

went in with the family and as soon as you walk in the doors you are hit by a stench. a mix between sewage and paint. was really put off with the experience. the paraphernalia was amazing but initial impression of the place wasn't so nice. nice quaint theatre but again the smell was awful.

Strange. Kind of neat, but also a little off. Great memorabilia, but overall a little on the rough side, with an odd smell in the cinemas to boot. Movie and sound quality were excellent, A/C a little aggressive and the prices not great compared with other small town venues. Definitely worth the visit, unsure if one needs to return. Concessions were a tad on the "not freshest" side in terms of popcorn standing pre-prepared and odd tasting butter style topping. Guess the Century in Lindsay has spoiled me for a rural experience. Glad I came tho.

Very interesting experience, never would have thought to combine a 5 theatre cinema, a museum of film history, and a cat shelter into one location. And then, place that location in the middle of the woods!! Definitely worth going to experience, great time, affordable for the family, especially in a rainy day.

A unique experience and must visit if in the area. Started in the owners living room, the Highland Cinema's was slowly expanded into a multiplex movie theatre surrounding their house. Service was nice with some staff that were very friendly and some that were terse but kind. The museum of projectors and movie paraphernalia that you must walk through is something else and included in the admission. Theatres are built from parts of demolished movie theatres across North America. Admission only to the museum is available.

This place is a must visit in Ontario!! Coolest movie theatre I've ever been to. Retro small theatres and seating. Plan for extra time to explore the museum. Concessions are reasonably priced. Cat sanctuary is an interesting addition. Can't wait to return!

Been going to this amazing little cinema since I was a child. There is no other place like it. The museum with so much film history, the awesome staff and such great prices. I would rather come here than any IMAX or VIP cinema. Throughout my childhood I've seen so many summer blockbusters here. Absolutely love it and always look forward to returning when the theatre opens every year!

Are you Kidding! This is the best mutli-plex experience you out ask for by far. Mix of the glory days of cinema houses and modern digital projection (Barco rocks my world). Small, intimate screening spaces each with vintage chairs and it's own unique decore. Go here and see the massive collection of projectors + say hi to the cats (they are outside)

Open between May and October every year. Offers first run movies. Also you can visit the movie museum and see all types of movie memorabilia. 5 theaters available. The owner, Keith, offers a haven for cats and he has built cat runs and homes for them throughout the grounds surrounding the theatre.

This place is the best theater I've ever been to, they have a museum that you can go in before your movie so your not waiting 20 minutes infront of a back screen and they have a cat shelter wich is super nice and the foods great. Also the theater itself makes it feel like I'm watching a 2020 movie in 1910 wich makes for a really cool experience. 10/10

The floors are sticky, the line outside is long and awkward (having to move out of the way of oncoming traffic), no cup holders for your drinks (thus the sticky floor) but a completely unique experience you don't want to miss out on. The cat walk is adorable. Inside the museum is worth checking out. My ten year old daughter's favourite part was the horror room. She was oblivious to who any of them were but not me. Chucky still makes me hate dolls (kids don't understand why mommy hates dolls). All in all worth the drive just for the experience.

Unique cinema! I can say I’ve never been to a movie theatre like it - small intimate theatres for the movies, but the main highlight is all of the memorabilia through the place. Make sure to leave time to tour the place! They also are a cat sanctuary and welcome donations of cat food, makes me like the place even more, will be back!

I've been visiting Highlands Cinemas for over 20 years. It never gets old & its THE best place to see a movie in the spring/summer/fall. Make sure to get there extra early so you can take in as much as the museum as possible. Legendary place.

Everyone who is anywhere close to this theatre should make an effort to see at least one movie here. It's not the movie so much as the ambience. It's so intriguing that the owner loves old movie theatres so much that he built these 5 theatres around his house using equipment and decorations from movie theatres around North America that were being demolished.

This place is simply what made me fall in love with the art of film. I used to go here all the time as a kid when I was up at my cottage and I never will forget those wonderful moments. I am now 20 years old starting film school and have started working on my first movie. I will never loose homage to what has brought me here … the best cinema in the world !!

What a unique space! I've never had a movie going experience where the theater was almost more memorable and enjoyable than the movie itself. The entire area, from the parking lot, cat area and museum is a treat in itself. Worth the drive, just remember to bring a sweater it can get cold inside.

Best theatre in the world. Also a film memorabilia / museum as you walk to your themed boutique cinema ! Also a cat sanctuary ! Also amazing experiences here ! My only suggestions would be as follows: - I wish would open in the wintertime - even periodically, even just one cinema, even with just classic / older movies ! - debit / credit payment or an ATM on premises would be helpful. We once missed a movie as we didn’t have enough money and forgot it was cash only with no ATM on site. - Lastly, the show times could be reworked to show more mid day showings on the weekends. A Sunday afternoon flick would be awesome.

This is a unique adventure. A good stop for sure if you're at the cottage for the weekend or looking for an outing. The museum is very interesting. You have to go through the scare section as well. The movies have no previews, so that's good because you don't have to sit through previews for half an hour before the movie.
