This Movie Theater corresponds to the category of Movie theater.
Love the movie theatres in WEM.
Feels great to watch movies again. Not too crowded. Reserve seating for all movies and they'll block off one seat on each side.
IMAX theater is the place to watch movies. Seats could be more comfortable. Back falls immediately in recline as soon as you lean back a bit.
It's a great place, been there loads of times prepandemic... but their website neglects to say that you have to wait 14 days after your second dose to enter. Don't be like me and waste 4 tickets. So, even if you're fully vaccinated, you have to wait 14 days after to be able to enter. Hopefully they add this to their website to avoid date night tragedies like this.
First time to go to movie theater after 3.5 yrs watched Spiderman 3 at 4DX was great experience. ???? Sanitize seats before and after each movie.????
Absolutely shocked at the lack of social distancing. Not even a single chair between my group and another group. I was sitting right beside a stranger who wasn't wearing their mask for the duration of the movie and also kept bringing out their phone to scroll social media. The seats in the theatre go way to far back, the person sitting in front of me was leaning back enough so his chair was pushing against my knees. Absolutely made me uncomfortable and will never go back to this Cineplex.
Lots of different types (I.e. Imax, Dbx, 4Bx, 3D, general aeating) and reserved seating. Lots of food choices. Not crowded. Lios of parking on upper level
Seats are uncomfortab. The movie and popcorn was great.
The big screen, buttered popcorn, drinks including beer and wine ... You gotta love it. And due to covid, I had the movie practically to myself.
Great flick! We all enjoyed House of Gucci ????✅
Great place to spend a few hours, the expansion of avx theatres has been a great addition. As much as the recent concession update helped with lines and service, much of the decor and structure is outdated and needing some work. Plus they got rid of the dragon!
I use to love this theater because it was exciting and one of a kind. Now it's feeling dated, it could use a reno especially the bathrooms, and the seat spacing in the theater. Unfortunately I will drive the extra 20 minutes to go to landmark for the better seating experience.
IMAX movies are SO good
I lost my wallet here while watching a movie in the evening, and only realized it after getting back to my hotel. I was quite worried because I was leaving Edmonton early the next day, before the theatre opened. Thankfully, the manager was a real nice guy and let us in to look for it that morning. We didn’t find it, and we left the city, but later I got a phone call from him telling me they had found it and would mail it to me! Exceptional service from that guy, I wish I could remember his name. The movie was also a great experience, and the food was good if not hilariously overpriced, but what do you expect from a theatre xD
Came here the other night, accidentally bought some extra tickets for my buddies by mistake and I wanted a refund but this one loudmouth snappy female manager outright refused to refund me. Told me I have to call guest services because "the higher ups don't like us giving out passes since they are worth less than the costco coupons." It wasn't until I kindly requested a different manager that I was compensated with a courtesy pass but once he went away she responded unnecessarily by saying "This is a one time thing. We're not gonna do it for you next time." I found her to be very short tempered and wasn't very receptive to my concerns. I think her name was mikela? But anyway yeah this is a first for me. I have never in my life been treated this way by a manager at any other theater. I am highly discouraged to come back to this location. Not worth the headache. :(
Over all... It's a movie theatre. The staff I interacted with were friendly and good. The bathroom needed to be cleaned better, which I could over look since it was in heavy use when I was leaving. The reason for the three star drop was the screen was dirty and you could clearly see dust spots, never mind if you look up to the air vents. The vents were covered in dust, and you could easily see the dust in ceiling tiles next to the vents.
Crowded entry.. only mall access .. scan vaccine card at entry.. have to use self serve ticket purchase . purchased a mini combo which comes with a topper and had to remind the server about my topper
Went to the movies with my partner and kids. Had a great time. The only thing I wished to be different were the sits. Super uncomfortable and swings back to much. I was hoping they had sits like at Landmark. The child behind my partner kept kicking his sit which pretty annoying for him but if they would have the same sits like at Landmark it would stop this. Otherwise it was a great family night.
Clean theatre, okayish typical over-priced food and small candy selection. Seats are way too close together but the fact that it's inside the mall is convenient. My real grievance is that yesterday at about 1:40pm I took a break from my customer service job inside of the mall and stopped by the line at the entrance to ask when they will sell spiderman tickets. I told the man I just had a question, and asked while I was pulling out my vaccine information in case I needed it but accidentally produced the old laminated card without the QR code first, which made the employee say "whenever they tell us to" and then lecture me about the QR code requirement which I already know. It was really unhelpful because if he'd just waited a moment I would have gotten the QR out if he needed it first. If you don't know, politely inform the customer that you just don't know, attempt to to find out from someone higher up or else give more of an explanation. At the very least, tell me to ask someone inside if you don't have time to help. He was not a bored teen employee with an attitude either, but a man who seemed to be about sixty wearing a sport shirt. Got the impression he is high enough up in the chain of command to know better than to be so dismissive of a customer. Negative interaction and waste of time left a bad taste in my mouth.
Clean theatres. Quick check in. Didn't like that they are not placing an empty seat between parties. Everyone is siting so close.
Theatre was clean but they stop selling popcorn before the last movie starts. Good luck watching Shang Chi with a dry mouth and no snacks. I fell asleep because they closed their tills before they started their last film. Kinda wack by my standards. I know everyone wants to go home at the end of the shift, but why even have movies playing that late if you can't buy anything? I'm sure you should know what you're in for when you get scheduled for a late night shift at the cinema. Also, I had a voucher for a free movie yet still had to pay $5. On a Tuesday! Save your vouchers people
Clean but a little confusing to navigate to ghr IMAX since the ticket person is right in front of the stairs, blocking them.
Doon sucked in Imax. Acting great...but more dramatic and suspenseful music than dialogue. Great story-line. Watched it with parents and dad said "You know what it needed?! An intermission so we could get up and leave." Great theater, clean, not adequate spacing between rows, but thats inevitable. Ticket guy was knowledgeable and sweet. Imax upstairs doesn't have moving seats, so you can sit wherever technically.
Place is well kept, clean and well managed. Concession is absurdly priced.
Went to go see the new Venom last night. The movie theatres were clean with physical distance measures in place. Most of the staff working in concession kept touching their masks, their faces and hair. That is gross and unsanitary especially with the pandemic going on
The theatre itself is grand – we do miss the fire-breathing dragon – and probably the best movie popcorn i've ever had. The picture, however, was a tad out of focus, and rather dim. Not sure I really experienced surround sound like it was meant to be.
Great experience with ultra quality sound effects which shook the soul inside me.
Overall, I've been to this cinema a few times. This time during covid. They do check your ID and vaccine card. They are still relatively quick in terms of food getting....at least at the box office. The bathrooms were very clean but they do not have paper towel anymore, so turning off the faucet without retouching it is a problem. Unless there was paper towel were I couldn't see it. Theatres floors were not sticky and for the most part people had masks on when not eating.
For a Scotiabank complex, this one is really starting to look dated. Typically one or more of the escalators are not working (neither were this visit), and with only one elevator, people with disabilities and seniors who need to use the elevator have a long wait. Staffing isn't up to standards, for example, when the person was taking our ticket to enter the theatre, she was busy talking to her colleague and couldn't be bothered to acknowledge us or the people in front of us. Staffing at the concession stand was efficient and hence the reason for 3 stars and not 2. Overall, I really feel this establishment reflects negatively on Scotiabank image. They can do much better.
I feel like the foods were extremely overpriced. Other than that it was a fun experience
Great Cineplex theater with the usual Cineplex ambiance featuring IMAX screens. Random pro tip: the IMAX theater is Cinema 13 (if I remember correctly) in Timeplay. Also, the hot dogs are surprisingly tasty!!
I had a very pleasant experience . Customer service was great . I purchased popcorn with butter and it tasted terrible . When I went to return it , the cashier was very nice and gave me another one without butter, without hesitation. Theatre was also nice , clean and comfortable
Very clean and organized. Staff were real nice to us. Social distance were maintained. Proper cautions were maintained. Enjoyed a lot.
I bought tickets to see the 4DX show, during the movie red laser light was coming in and out on the screen and twice the movie froze and screen blackout. I asked for my refund and they gave me a free pass instead. I won't be going back to that theater again. I personally prefer the regular DBox where you can have more control over your seat vibration.
This is a great movie multiplex destination. Several theatres with an IMAX screen also. There is lots of room and it is clean and well lit. The staff is friendly and courteous. I have been coming here for many years and have always enjoyed the experience and ambiance. As part of West Edmonton Mall there is easy access to the theatre.
Pleasantly surprised! Took off an extra star cause there is so no Social distancing in the seating. I appreciate its assigned seating but the people behind me where fairly close.
Wide variety of options from iMax to 4D to regular screens with good picture and sound quality- we went to a movie in the ‘base’ option and it was clean, the image was clear, and the sound was great. Prices were on par with other theatres in Canada. Would recommend.
**4DX REVIEW** *SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME* I DO NOT RECOMMEND. LISTS OF EXPERIENCE: •Motion — YES •Water — MISSING (?) •Rain — LITTLE •Fog — NO FOG •Wind — MISSING/LITTLE (?) •Vibration — YES •Air — MISSING •Lightning — YES •Bubbles — YES •Scents — YES •Ticklers — NO (it’s not included in the seats) •Rainstorm — NO •Snow — YES I go to Yonge & Dundas 4DX — the 4DX there is complete and the chair is bigger, wider, a lot more spacious. It actually has the ticklers which makes it so much better. This 4DX is like going to a regular theatre (SAVE YOUR MONEY). **It’s honestly so sad that this place even have a 4DX when they are missing so many aspects of what makes it a 4DX. Cleanliness was up to standards with staff just the people who can’t clean up after themselves after the movie. There’s people jumping to theatres to theatres. #4DX
Been there June 2021. Good customer service at the food area but a little bit slow. Definitely they need more personnel to handle the peak hours. Not sure if seats were disinfected but proper distance was kept. Overall good experience, it is our favorite movie theatre.
Very clean, fast service. Only major complaint is that the seats kept folding in on the kids. Wish there was a locking system of some sort.
The seats are absolutely horrendous, even in AVX. They constantly are trying to close on you. Wife is in her early pregnancy and we had to leave pretty early into a good movie because she was not able to find a single position where her stomach wasnt being squished. If you have ANY lower back issues or wish to avoid having them in the future I would absolutely avoid this theatre. Even for myself they were by far the worst theatre seats I have ever sat in including an 80 year old cinema in my hometown. Its almost funny how bad they are.
Un gros zero pour le manager du cinema au west Edmonton mall qui ma dit (you better settle down your kid or i will kick you out and my son was doing nothing wrong in kid’s movie .was talking to me regarding the movie .the way he told me that ,was really rude .no respect .shame on you old man. you made one kid sad tonight. it should said no kid under 6 allowed to watch ghostbuster prior to sale ticket .hope karma gonna get you someday
It's a theater, but not what it used to be. Now this used to be an attraction at the world's (sometimes) biggest indoor mall! But not anymore, the fire breathing dragon is gone, and there are still some remnants of the old theater hanging around. The spirit of this place seems crushed. The staff do their jobs and the place is clean enough, I have not seen the concession at the back beyond the ticket line open in over ten years. Which would be nice so you can pop out and grab another drink really quick. The seats all recline, and it seems like the air conditioning is either on low or turned off most of the time. But other than that its just a standard cineplex theater now. Grab a slice of pizza, some popcorn, a pop and watch some mindless escapism for 90 minutes. Unless you have something better to do.
All around a good time, clean place and friendly staff. Popcorn was good and butter even better! We got our tickets online so was easy to just grab snacks (great combo choices for snacks) and scan to go in with the kids. Only down side and why I don't have the full 5 stars is that if your going with a child lighter than 80lbs be prepared to be holding the front of the seat the whole movie for them as they will be folded up as a taco into the seat. My leg and arm got soar from holding the two children's seats I took ( using just regular general admission seats ) . All in all for prices wasn't to bad, your basic ciniplex / big theater prices. Great way to spend the day or end it after a long day of shopping!
The 4DX was the best experience! I watched Black Widow and it was the best decision I ever made ⭐ Also the seating distances is very well appreciated.
Just finished watching Shang-Chi, the theater was clean and tidy. Thanks for the employees for the food and keeping the cinema clean for us to watch. First time watching a movie here, fantastic.????????
Well little dirty, but good place.
Watched the new spider man here. Glad to be in a theatre again, could've used future's song Mask off as a theme
Great staff and movie was great. The teens ruined the movie for us talking and kicking seats all movie and I was about to Karen them and beat them up but my gf told me not too.
Sometimes the gouging is to strong. Just because we accept it as normal doesn't mean it's okay. 2 or 2.50 for water is acceptable ish. 4 is outrageous. The place is very clean which is a good. The fake leather seats how ever... The fake leather seats are not for me. Not as comfortable.
Went to the IMAX theatre, the seats are extremely uncomfortable and could use some repairs. Mine would only stay in the reclined position unless I sat on the edge of the seat. The screen and sound were fantastic though. The overall appearance of the theatre could use an update and renovation.
Awesome, as always! There's some cool new games they have! And, of course, I almost make myself sick on their food! It's so good! I can't stop! ... But, what happened to the Dragon? ???? Did it break?
Since they pulled out the dragon it just hasn't been the same. The audio and visual hardware in the main theatres could also use an upgrade.
Awesome time great for all ages went to see free guy in 4 D X......what an experience.
One of my favorite places to watch movies. The popcorn is always fresh and delicious. Only thing I dislike are the paper straws that can't last the length of the movie. Always feels like I'm sucking my beverage through a toilet paper roll.
We saw a really good movie. The popcorn was good and fresh.
My movies was scheduled for 11:30 am and the doors to the building didn't open until 11:15. There were a lot of people waiting. They also had trouble with the projector so our movie started lated. The theatre was also pretty dirty, and the washrooms near the imax theatre felt pretty dirty as well. Definitely not the best experience.
A) bring back the dragon. It was a staple for this place for years and with the amount of money they charge for drinks and popcorn to not have it is just criminal B) whomever designed the washrooms for the iMax theatre and theatres 1 & 2 needs to be dragged into them and look at the stupidity of the designs. Seriously 800 ppl coming out of those theatres and the bathrooms fit 2-3 ppl tops. The fact they haven’t fixed this problem in 20 years is insane.
Went for jungle cruise in 4DX. Very fun. Very nicely decorated cinema. Will be back.
We had so much fun ????♥️
Always a great place to catch a movie. They have some cool theaters , imax, and 4D . Plus an arcade ,with a good assortment of games.
It's a really lovely place I went to see the movies with my sister Her scene points went down from 15,000 to 6,500???? It was a great though
June 2021 Watched "The Conjuring" tonight! Pre-selected arranged sitting due to pandemic. It was a good horror movie. Pandemic protocol is adhered to. Friendly management on floor for welcoming back patrons. October 2and 2020 Will be watching a scary movie Non contact kiosk to order your ticket Plus you earn points And seats are pre-arranged for covid19 safety precautions.
Not impressed. Very dated and uncomfortable seating
Same as any other cineplex experience. Bathrooms were wildly under serviced but theatre was clean and staff seemed genuinely happy.
Great place to watch a movie, the kids loved the giant statues everywhere. Sad that the dragon is no longer there...
First time with the 4d experience and nothing happened only found out after the movie you have to complain during the movie to get a refund. Rather watch a movie at home and not have a chance of catching covid.
The theater and movies are fine. They dont enforce social distancing or mask wearing. I watched the new matrix movie and everybody in the theater had their mask off with exception to only a couple people such as myself. It was disgusting. I don't advise tring out theaters any time soon.
"It's okay" seems like the right way to describe it. I've been going to the movies for five years every week (when permitted) mostly at South Edmonton common. I didn't think recliner chair would make that much of a difference but here I am writing an "okay" review about a theatre falling behind on the experience it gives its audience. Sorry Cineplex, I've been spoiled, by another Cineplex. You guys need to up your game, or dare I say, close your doors.
Love the entrance decors! ???? Great experience while watching "The Mummy" movie The staff are nice too. ????
It was just ok. The seats were a little old but the screen looked good and the sound was still loud enough
There’s a giant stain in the centre of the screen that looks like someone threw a soda at it and they weren’t able to clean it entirely. Why can’t we have nice things.
Only went for the arcade while we were killing time. Was fun
had an awesome time here back in October and back on the 23rd the theatre was great and the staff is overall welcoming and cool, watched both Venom 2 & Shang-Chi back in October while on the 23rd me and my brother watched Spider-Man No Way Home and the expierences were great. also ticket taker named Theo is a wonderful and overall welcoming buddy thanks for being awesome dude.
Love this theater! It could be a little bit cleaner but overall it's great!
They did the best they could during covid. Although the theater is relatively unchanged from when it opened years ago and it's starting to show its age. They were good at checking for vaccine passports, keeping things clean, and getting the viewers through the gates quickly.
Nice theatre, kept clean and well maintained. Lots of amenities, a full arcade, lots of different snacks. Staff are always polite and helpful. Comfortable seats. Parking can be tricky, there's lots but you either have to be tenacious or walk a distance.
Great theater with so much to offer
Going to the movies have gotten expensive; Adult and Two kids 3 popcorn, 3 pop, and 3 candy $115.00. The 4D was an experience above and beyond the rest.
The staff was super helpful, understanding and friendly today. I was having issues with the 1-800 number but today Jeff was able to look into my issue and resolve it rather quickly. Also thankful that the staff are doing everything they can to keep us safe. Thanks a bunch y'all.
Ticket and concession prices are on par with other theaters. The seats are exceptionally comfortable and a good size. All staff members I interacted with were all friendly and helpful!
Black Widow, excellent. Black Widow and the 4d experience, wowsers
It's not so busy here, even after the reopening. This is a perfect time to see a movie! The Imax theatres are amazing!
Very nice theater. Lots of movies to see. Little expensive but well worth it
Ordered the combo 1 with the movie rental. Got everything I ordered except the movie. When I went back to confront them, the manager said there is nothing he can do and that it's suppose to be automatic through scene. Which makes no sense because I purchased it through cineplex. How can you sell a service you don't have access to. He also told me to call scene, like we haven't exhausted that option.
Watched Dune today in the Imax theatre, its been a while since ive been there like yrs but i honestly thought there's was more leg room and better seats, the only reason i wanted to watch it in Imax. Was terrible experience, no leg room, no personal space between the persons yur sitting next too and the person behind me kept bumping my chair. After this experience will never go to Cinplex theartres again, landmark is infinetly better with the comfy seats that recline back, way more leg room and personal space. So long Cineplex, maybe ill go back if you can compete with the other guys.....
One of my favorite places to watch movies ! Went here twice in the span of two months already and planning to go again.
It's a great quality theater but quite pricy. You have pretty much any of the viewing options you could reasonably expect plus a few "unreasonable" ones. I think they call it a 4D viewing experience? I call it a rumble chair. I enjoyed it the one time I tried it but I wouldn't pay so much. You can enjoy IMAX, 3D and private viewings. There are different fidelity theaters if I recall correctly and they keep pretty high quality. I would say that Scotiabank has one of the less messy theaters. It's not spotless, but compared to cheap theaters I tend to be able to afford, it's a nice treat. I can't afford the last star because they never did fix the mama dragon. There used to be a big red dragon that would breathe real fire at regular intervals in the middle of the lobby. She has little baby dragons towards the back of the theater that are now orphans. I was terrified of her as a kid but in the best way. I owe my childhood adoration of dragons and by extension probably my career as an artist to her. Rest in peace, girlboss.
I don’t think the theatre has been updated since it opened. Aesthetically, it feels like you’ve travelled back in time to the 90s. Weird angles and colours, the place looks like the set of the original Saved by the Bell. Obviously there’s little value for your dollar. Popcorn costs them $0.06 but they charge $14.00 for it and still can’t find a few bucks to freshen the place up. The sears have been updated but they’re terrible. I took my four year old to see the newest Disney feature but as an average sized kid she isn’t heavy enough to keep the seat down unless she sits on the uncomfortable (not metaphorical) edge of the seat. I on the other hand am an average sized adult but weigh too much to sit back without the seat going into full recline mode. This is likely the worst theatre I’ve been in, it’s almost as though they know it will draw a crowd because it’s in the country’s largest shopping mall so they do as little as they can to keep the place looking nice. Also, I know plastic straws are bad for turtles and the planet but paper straws don’t last very long so I only got to enjoy a few sips of my $9 coke before the straw fell apart and tainted the flavour. All-in-all a pretty dreadful experience that offers credibility to the theory that online streaming will soon make theatres a thing of the past. What a shame.
I like that the chairs are super comfy now... long ago they were "regular" type theater seats... can't complain...
Seats obviously were not disinfected, J9 was dirty. Good thing I brought wipes and gloves. IMAX, NO aircon when we get in at 8pm for 8:15pm F9 movie. 8:12pm now still no AC.
Watched Spiderman no way home was great the popcorn was super delicious and the theater was very clean
It was great, relaxing. It was awesome movie experience
We booked our tickets online because of the capacity is lower than usual do to COVID-19. And when we got to the theatre the employee was rude never even said hi just waved his figures for us to go forward and said movie is first on your left. When we went to our seats that we paid for people sat right beside us no social distancing and the theatre was clearly over capacity. Wasn’t even able to take off my mask to enjoy my popcorn. Not impressed at all. Clearly they care about money more than customers health
Digging the new leather recliners in there, spacious seating, clean and four extra butter you don't gotta pay ayy the till, where the napkins and straws are there's topping Haha best theater I've been to by far!
Part One of Dune... Well done theatrics. Theatre 7 has a blotch in the screen right dead centre. Very annoying, because once you see it, you can't unsee it. It looks like someone threw a cup of pop at the screen, and all the pop dribbles down. This really needs to be fixed!
Friendly staff, COVID compliance is great, easily approachable, theatre seating was good and spacious, no obstructions to view
I'm not impressed. Yesterday (Jan, 4) my granddaughter and her friend went to the movies to seethe 4pm Spider-Man and when they were buying there tickets and food, the lady that was on till, didn't allow them to use their scene points, even after we ask she just proceeded to ask what drinks we want. If the employees dont wont except the scene points, then why have them and if there not going to follow the guide then why hire them. Even after they got into the movies, there were already people in their seats but didnt want to say anyrhing because they didnt want to start trouble.
