They made sure that we knew what would take place every step of the way, which was a relief, as it allowed us to focus on other matters. The Kemp Family was absolutely amazing in handling my mother’s visitation. As someone who unexpectedly lost her mother, not only was I devastated, I had no idea how to go about planning funeral arrangements. I blindly began by calling several funeral homes, most of which would not allow visitations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I continued to encounter funeral homes who were scheduled to full capacity, suggesting I hold off on scheduling arrangements for weeks. In addition, most of the funeral directors I spoke with were apathetic and rushed me off the phone as they were “busy”. Naturally, I began to feel unnerved and hopeless. Luckily, I stumbled upon The Kemp Funeral Home via google and read all of their positive reviews. I decided to give them a call in hopes I could secure a homegoing ceremony for my mother. During the initial call with Funeral Director Steven Jr, I instantly felt relieved as he was professional, empathetic, knowledgeable, patient and most importantly kind. He happily answered my many questions and even agreed to schedule my mother’s service for the following Saturday even though they were inundated with other services. The following day, I took a tour of the beautifully renovated facility led by Steven Sr who also possessed great professionalism, patience and knowledge regarding the funeral industry. Steven Jr fostered an open line of communication, providing updates throughout the entire process leading to my mother’s visitation. On the day of, my mother’s makeup was done beautifully, the chapel was set up nicely and the staff was courteous and professional. I could not have been more pleased with The Kemp Funeral Home and I am forever grateful for their accommodations, courtesy and kindness during a time of unsurmountable grief, especially amid a pandemic.

Loved that they still require masks as it enables those in at-risk sectors to attend services. Attendants were very professional and assisting. Funeral home is very clean and the service was extremely well conducted. They handled the deceased and all her loved ones with love and care.

I cannot praise Kemp Funeral Home enough for the care given to me and my family in the passing ofmy mother. The exceptional care started with the initial phone call, to the young men coming to transport my mother from our home to the funeral home. The care and respect those gentlemen displayed in removing our mother was short of glorious. It made a extremely difficult time so much easier to deal with. I thank you Stephen and your entire staff, you are a gift from God. Your care, compassion, and empathy can be felt from the first call to the final moment. First off the facilities are beautiful and the staff was very kind during a time of pain. They made it easy to plan and pay for arrangements. Now, here’s why the lower rating: 1) The final viewing experience didn’t meet my expectations. 2) And this bullet is the most important reason for the less than stellar rating. The cemetery wasn’t made aware of my loved ones death or arrangements in any way. The day before the funeral and final resting place was NOT aware to be ready, you can imagine where my stress levels were...Because I called less than 24 hours prior to check on the headstone, things went smoothly, however, and Kemp was there to support the homegoing celebration as I would have expected, ending our transactions on a high note. My advice, if used, be sure to double check with all vendors and partners yourself to be sure no stone is left unturned and ask and verify how soon after receipt the body will be embalmed. Updated to respond to Kemp (1.14.21) I'm so glad to hear about the best practices and continuous improvements made. This is a great inclusion. It will also help ensure that the family is notified. In my case, I was not informed that I needed to finalize with the cemetery and actually received a verbal confirmation that we were all set, bc I'm a project manager naturally and wanted to make sure all was good to go and it's part of the reason I still double checked with the cemetery. God was in control and all worked out beautifully. Continuous Improvement is what it's all about and I believe this is an awesome add, thank you for letting me know, keep with it. Again, your support during the funeral was amazing :)

My dad is a victim of Covid 19. If i could give this funeral home 0 stars for service i would. I am the son of La**** Partee i have called multiple times to get some form of documentation that he died. I have been met with resentment every step of the way. They have refused to give me a death certicate, they have refused to give me a written statement saying that he died and was cremated there. I am currently sitting in my car outside of the funeral home and she says "shes too intimated to come outside because of our conversation" i respectfully asked multiple times for just some sort of proof that my dad had passed. Its a slap in the face to have a family member pass of covid19 then have to deal with shady funeral homes. I would NEVER recommened taking your loved ones to this funeral home!

Kemp Funeral Home was the business of choice for visitation and funeral services for our parents (Mother (2018) and Father (2019)) and Aunt (2020). Owner Steve Kemp has 20+ years of experience in the funeral service and planning business. Planning processes were made easy in a peaceful, calming environment by caring and compassionate staff. Everything was done in a professional manner. The care team at Kemp provided top notch direction for printed obituaries, service management, transportation, cremation and veteran internment for our father. They can also order flowers in-house as well cater repasts on-site. Every promise was delivered on time and well above expectations! I highly recommend Kemp Funeral Home to address all final care needs of your loved one! Kemp Funeral home welcomes people of all ethnic, cultural, racial, religious and spiritual backgrounds with open arms! Respect, service, integrity and dignity are clearly on display with this organization.

If I could give negative five stars I would, my brother-in-law was a victim of covid and the funeral home was called at 9 on a Saturday morning a little over a month ago, they showed up 11 hours later while my sister and I had to watching her husband decompose on the living room floor. We had called approximately every 2 hours to try to get a Time on when they would pick him up so we could leave the house and get out of there and the lady on the phone was so rude to us, she had no compassion at all, if they treat people who are breathing like this I can only imagine how they treat the deceased I would not recommend this funeral home to my worst enemy.

I am finally setting aside time to talk about how the service of Kemp's Funeral Home was. I was told that they would be a good choice for cremation. I had my Mother cremated there and I was able to pick out an Urn too. Their professionalism was beyond measure. The Representative that help me was name, LaShonda. Her kindness made me feel that Kemp's Funeral Home was the right choice! Every question or concerned that I had was answered with clearness and confidence. If ever anyone is wondering about cremation, I would recommend Kemp's Funeral Home as one of your choices.

I don't know who in their right mind would give this business 1 star. This person must not have entrusted their loved on to the Kemps. They must have been someone on the outside looking in, not someone personally involved. Not only is the facility gorgeous, the services are impeccable. The Kemps are VERY accommodating. It is not an easy task to deal with people who have lost a loved one, but they seem to have that special demeanor to handle any situation. There truly aren't enough stars that I can give to this business. Prayerfully I won't be needing their services anytime soon, but in the event that I do, I will be going to do business with the KEMPS. May God continue to bless you and your business!

Do not make arrangements for a loved one when you're vulnerable & serious grieving. Leave your emotions at home. My son's transition on 3-22 was not expected. I selected Kemp Funeral Home reason being close proximity to my home and I found out that we both were members of the same church. I had never met him. We have an acquaintance in common who put me in contact with Mr. Kemp because I had questions. My son was 240lbs which require an oversized casket extra ($200) understandable no problem. There were major issues & concerns starting with inflated prices Mr Kemp processed my bill A la Carte listed each item separately like your at a restaurant no Funeral package he claims my situation did not fit his funeral packages he own his business he could have made appropriate changes. When I spoke with him about displeasurment he said that "I blindsided him" he said that he paid out of pocket for songtess & organist not true I paid 1700 for funeral services which included the above services. After I took time to examine the paperwork I felt I was taken advantage of no family car remember a la carte additional 475.00 I paid 7699 cash for my sons funeral. I spoke with Mr Kemps son he looked over my paperwork and said Ms Williams I will give you a car no charge. When I went to the viewing Wednesday evening my son & I tried to talk with Mr. Kemp we were not pleased with how are loved one was prepared and presented to ourself and guests. Mr. Kemp's disposition changed he was not professional towards us and he distanced himself from us he stayed in the background. This is my horrific heartfelt story I would NEVER recommend this funeral home to anyone.
