Honestly the staff are great but there are never any doctors available. Most of the time when I have to come here I'm waiting for a good 3-4 hours before someone even sees me. Then I'm in a room for another 3 hours until the single doctor in the entire building can see me for 30 seconds and leave again. The issue lies not with the staff but the lack thereof. If Sturgeon Falls general cant keep enough doctors on hand to help the people in the city, the hospital should be shut down and patients routed to north bay general. I actually feel more nervous about coming to this hospital than I should because I know I'll be left alone in pain for half the day before being sent out without a permanent solution.

Worst hospital you could ever go to. The nurses act like you're bothering them with your sickness, there's only 1 doctor there ever and its always some fat person; how can you even take their health care seriously?

I've been to all sorts of hospitals. The wait is usually 5+ hours even with a serious problem, and I've had family in other near by hospitals be turned away without testing for obvious problems (listing face on one side, slurred speech, poor coordination) and turned out they had a stroke and went without treatment. The doctors and nurses in the WNGH are very knowledgeable, they are compassionate, and do their job properly. They run tests to err on the side of caution, and treat people fairly. And even notify them of possible serious issues that other hospitals near by did not. And it must be said that my average wait time is 1-2 hours from start to finish. Thank you for the kind and compassionate care that you have offered myself and my mother over the last few years. We travel from out of town to your hospital because we know we will be treated properly and with honesty and integrity.

Staff is extremely rude and disrespectful. They don’t care about your health, they just care about their pay check. I’ve heard so many horror stories from sturgeons hospital & then when I went because I had kidney stones and needed help immediately they told me it would be a minimum 2 hour wait and literal quote from the nurse working the front “We have more serious issues to deal with then you.” *mean while there’s not one person waiting* Then closed her counter and walked away as I’m bent over in pain crying. My boyfriend drove me to the north bay hospital and the staff were beyond incredible there, I told them about my experience in sturgeon and they said it’s not the first they heard staff being so disrespectful and apologized for me having to go thru that and immediately rushed me in and helped me. To wrap it up, don’t bother wasting your time going to the Sturgeon Falls Hospital. If you have the option go to north bay. You’ll save your self hours and possibly your life.

For a small community hospital West Nipissing isnt all the bad.The drs and nurses are for the most part kind and knowledgeable They have limited tests that can be preformed here..xray and ultrasounds although CT Scanner coming this fall(from what I was told) This will be huge for West Nip and area residents..no more heading to North Bay for a CT ALL in all...small limited knowledgable and nice...it could be alot worse

I swear the staff want this hospital to be shut down, their waits are ridiculous. The one time I was there in an empty emergency waiting room, and the nurse told me that the doctor will see me in a few minutes. She then returned a few minutes later to tell the doctor wants patients to wait at least 2 hours before he will see them, so he went for lunch. Go to north bay the 30 minute drive will save you hours and possibly your life if it's something serious. This is a basic first aid station.

My experiences at WNGH has been awesome. My husband has been in their care for almost 5 myths. The nurses, docs, psw's are all very caring and so professional. Great ???? work

My family has appreciated the staff and drs for some 20 years. Many different drs have changed over the years, but all have contributed there professionalism 100% towards my wife sons and myself. This opinion has changed as of today, January 15 2020. Dr. Steven Edward McLeod quickly judged my situation without any professionalism, more of a “power trip “ based on his profession and title of a dr. Threatened myself of my right as a Canadian citizen and tax payer with telling me...he can control my prescription by only giving me “a prescription for 1-pill a day” As a full timed employee working in the demands of my profession which is the mining industry world wide, I am not always able to see my dr to renew my prescription. Which I CANNOT GO WITHOUT”. Therefore the convenience of the hospital being open 24 hrs is a great benefit to me. I was told not to use it as the cost of administration is high. This is 100% unacceptable. Therefore I will make a complaint with the management of the hospital, and also with the CPSO. I hope that no one else that visits the hospital receives this type of demoralizing. ....if you do, remember you have rights!

I been to sturgeon hospital twice in one week for an throat infection. First visit, sent me home with no direction, 2nd visit I was sent home again with no prescription for my problem. By the 3rd time I decided to go to North bay hospital. Finally received a prescription. Missed 2 days of work because sturgeon hospital did not provide me with the treatment necessary. I've never been satisfied with the service in sturgeon falls hospital and I think it safe to say that I am not the only person in this community that feels the same way. Something needs to change. It is disturbing how many people complain about this hospital for such a small community. What is the common denominator here? Worse hospital I ever been to.

Wonderful hospital. The NURSES ARE GREAT! I brought my 9 year old grandson in as he had a sore throat and high fevers. Turned out he had strep. The nurse called me 4 times today to check up on Shawn and give me advice. I got called to bring him in for some more testing. These ER nurses go above and beyond to show dedication and commitment to the patients. Yes! Sometimes their is a wait time ( someone could be sicker than you) or an emergency has come up that is life threatening. Also, I have had a nurse speak to me in a frustrated tone and in fairness I've given it back....What we don't see is these nurses might have missed there lunch, or break because the ER is busy or an emergency has happened. WNGH is the best hospital I've been to up North. These nurses and doctors don't get enough credit. Thank you WNGH for the great care that you provide for my family. Keep up the good work.

Awesome hospital. All the staff from custodians to nurses to Dr.s are awesome. Just need a few more Dr's and Nurses. Thanks Guys you are the best.
