Thrifty Food Broadmead has a great Deli and fresh meat department. They always have meaty beef soup bones in stock! ( Our dog's Favorite) Service in the Deli is quite good even when it's busy. I also love their fresh squeezed juice bar. Lots of great combinations to choose from. ????

A great store! Most of the employees are doing a great job with COVID protocols. However, while there to buy a birthday cake, I noticed that some the bakery staff ( 10/23/2020 AM ) were not masking. Cases are going up and people working with others food and not masking is just plain unsafe. Also during a previous visit I noticed that the guys who come in and stock the bread are not masked. I will be happy to boost this review to 5 stars, ( because this is a great store to shop at ) if they reply that they have fixed these issues.

We don't shop at Thriftys but we thought we would give them a try . We went there a couple of days before our grandsons Birthday to order a cake.After giving all the details to not one but two bakers we left feeling confident that when we pick the cake up in 2 days all will be well.Two days later when I picked up the cake they got the size of the cake wrong and the Birthday message on the cake was wrong .Not happy but now I know why we don't shop at Thriftys..

This store was so busy, mainly because of the Thanksgiving weekend approaching. However, the place was very clean. I had to use the bathroom and was shocked how clean it was. Everything was stocked well. They had an awful lot of organic and vegan products. The bakery had an amazing selection of baked goods. The staff was super friendly and helpful even on this insanely busy weekend.

Prices are a little high, Store is clean, and variety of products some times is limited. One thing really, really didn’t like is the lack of training of some of the employees. The store is full of signs reminding us about social distance; those are just for show, workers stocking products do not respect this health requirement; unfortunately this behaviour has a consequence that clients do not follow the same indication and you find yourself being pushed by crazy ladies “in hurry” to get their groceries, forgetting the health minimal requirements ????????‍♀️ so how can we spect clients follow these rules of employees do not care to follow the store signs ????????‍♀️????????‍♀️!

The Thrifty Foods at Broadmead Mall is well situated, off one of the Pat Bay highway exit ramps. If you are heading to the ferries (or the airport), or if you are heading back to the city, this is a perfect stop for getting your groceries. Of course, it is a popular store for those living in the neighbourhood too. This Thrifty Foods store is well-stocked with high quality produce, meats, and a range of products. The store itself is very bright and clean. This Thrifty Foods store has a floral department and a (small) selection of vitamins, and supplements. They are open daily until midnight and like all Thrifty stores, they offer free delivery services.

Good location and amazing staff and I think it's 24 hrs. I did have an issue with their meats once. They recoated the steaks with blood to make it more appealing to buy. When separating the two steaks, I could see the bottom one was all old and it was just recoated. So gross especially at their prices. Won't buy meat there for a while. Otherwise, great place for yummy food.

Located in beautiful Broadmead Centre, this grocery store is by far, the nicest Thrifty’s in the chain and especially now after having undergone a multi-million dollar renovation. You can also find one of the islands most plentiful fresh seafood departments. I only buy my fish and shellfish here. The produce department seems to be the first store that gets the freshest seasonal fruits and vegetables. The store is comfortably busy but it’s always fully staffed so you get through quickly. One last compliment... the friendliest staff anywhere!

The staff here are great and this is a very well stocked and has a great selection for the most part. The Asian foods selection is not great but it's passable if you're in a pinch. The produce and meat departments are great and there is a seafood counter. The bakery is pretty good but I recommend buying the individually packaged cakes and desserts bc the ones in the case taste like "fridge". Overall I'm very happy this is in my neighborhood.

Well laid out in the renovated store but the aisles seem to be a bit more narrow. Also, at either end of the aisles, specials are placed in such a way that 2 grocery carts cannot enter at once. Lighting is more subdued and easier on the eyes. I like the new fresh juice bar as well as hot food and take out counters. There's lots of new additions to the newly renovated store.

Thrifty Foods is part of my Broadmead neighborhood and I always shop local. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great selections of food products. Lots of fruit and vegetable selections to choose from including local, organic or imported. They also sell flowers and assorted plants. If you can't get out to shop then go on line to order your groceries and have them delivered to your door. Now that's what I call convenience!!!!

Very disappointed to find that Thrifty's Foods does NOT require customers to wear masks. The Broadmead Branch has a high concentration of senior shoppers. This is shocking considering Walmart does have a mandatory mask requirement. So now Walmart is cheaper AND safer then Thrifty's? Please do better. The people who "choose" not to wear masks in stores are also the people who "choose" not to give your other customers 6 ft of personal space. B.C. covid-19 numbers are going up, get ahead of this... do as well as Walmart in protecting staff and customers. Thank you.

Thrifty's at Broadmead is one of our favourite grocery stores in Victoria. The produce is always fresh and the meat department is one of the best. Weekly specials are advertised in print flyers or on line. They also feature phone-in shopping and home delivery.

Good selection with helpful staff but the prices are higher than places like save on foods and fairway market. If you're not doing your shopping at Costco and are price conscious I'd say probably go to those other shops although it's fine if you're in the area and need a quick spot shop.

Prices are higher in some products and the store installed self checkouts which is a big turn off. Their selection can't be beat though and they still have enough staff to answer questions most of the time.

Today's shopping was good. The store was clean and well stocked. The customers, however, are getting a little lax on their physical distancing and so.e were not too respectful when I asked for a little more space at the til area. Not the store's fault.

Going downhill. Forcing customers to their Compliments brand. Also have taken away a lot of space in order to add a lot of ready prepared meal items. Seafood counter is still awesome, but not enough to make me want to remain a loyal customer. I'm about to find a different place for most groceries after 26 years of shopping here.

I started coming here in July 2019 and it was OK. Now its Sept and the place has gone downhill rapidly. Seems like they spent a lot of $$ on renovations but not staff as there has been no hot food or sandwiches during the lunch hour. The soups are always the same and the donuts are days old as I come here everyday. I wish they would close this place and open a Save-On Foods instead.

24 hr convenience / folks always friendly & efficient. Update: After a few years of buying their fresh seafood since Sobeys took over, I'm quite certain their fresh not frozen fish is contaminated with polyphosphates found usually in frozen stock, albeit in lower concentration than frozen seafoods. Left my info many times but never received a single call. Consistent issue over many years - bought salmon, halibut, sole..etc - , but un-confirmed by Thrifty foods. Did not experience this pre-Sobeys. In fairness, this is a supplier quality issue that certain other grocers have as well, although not all of them. Some retailers are extremely upfront and follow-up providing supplier information.

A pleasure to grocery shop here. I would suggest more gluten free foods like breads, cookies etc. to be stored in the same sections as the others to prevent hunting for these types of food items, or perhaps a gluten free area. I hear this being said from other customers as well. However, I do appreciate the friendly atmosphere and displays.

Gone downhill a bit, since departure of Longtime Mgr. Yesterday there was about noisy and aggravating Siren going off, and nobody in Staff seemed to care. Floors were dirty and dusty, lots of empty holes on shelves.

I love the new salads in the deli. Especially the cauliflower! Nice to have some more vegetarian options. And the sausages in the deli case are great. Good produce. I'm not a fan of many of the Compliments products and miss the old Thrifty's. The Compliments chicken is gross! Watch the newer cashiers when they are bagging or you'll get home with bruised fruit on the bottom of the bag or meat on top of produce - yuck. Thriftys used to be a 4. They don't carry a lot of the local/organic/small farm stuff that we like. Not as worth their higher prices as they used to be.

This used to be my favourite supermarket in the area, and it is still better than some, but it has gradually gone downhill over the last few years since the Sobeys takeover. Sadly, the range of high quality brands has diminished as Compliments versions have replaced them, and you now have to check the fresh produce more carefully as it is sometimes past its prime. The prices are still high, which I don't mind paying for top quality, but it isn't anymore. I still come here for their good seafood counter and selection of organic dairy, but for most other products, I've switched elsewhere.
