Would have given more stars as I usually try not to give a bad rating unless absolutely necessary - as we all as humans including business’s and establishments can all have our share of “bad days”.
Have never had to make final arrangements for a loved one before - but just a couple weeks ago I unfortunately had to for my mom- unsure as to what exactly that entailed.
I purchased an urn at their “partner location” ( will leave separate review on that one) which was a beautiful angel urn and “pre-approved” by mom..
Met with Kaitlyn at Community Alternative to do paperwork as well as give her “ media info” for the newspaper and online obituary. She was compassionate, kind and got things done as quick as possible for me.
Two days later I received call that mom’s obituary would now be online later that day and in newspaper next day as was the plan.
Perfect or so I thought.
I went online to see my mom’s obituary.
It was a hard enough moment for me to do that - then I was floored.
My mom’s name was spelled incorrect..
My name ( her only child) also incorrect.
Two of mom’s siblings names were missing completely, and one of her siblings last names again, spelled incorrect.
This was not including basic grammar and punctuation errors.
I was absolutely heartbroken for my mom.
I called and advises it be changed IMMEDIATELY which they did - after the woman who answered the phone simply said “whoops” after I pointed out the errors one by one , but that is NOT something that ANYONE needs to deal with when trying to deal with a death of a close loved one as it is, let alone when paying the $110 (approx) media fee to begin with.
I don’t know who typed it , and I don’t care- but when In that line of work dealing with such a sensitive issue- carelessness is not an option, nor does it provide a grieving family any sense of assurance or comfort when thinking about any other possible mistakes that may have, could have ,
or god forbid possibly been made with a loved one.
