I can’t say enough wonderful things about the Courtice Funeral Chapel, their funeral Director, John Town and their staff and their officiant, Reverend Kate Harrison. Their kindness, compassion and ability to work/think outside the box is unprecedented. These people are truly earth angels. My son, who has special needs, lost his service dog and best buddy of 17.5 years. Although, his dog had long retired, they were still best friends. Even in his later years, our dog Buddy still tried to step-up to the plate and preform his job as much as he could. When It was Buddy’s time to cross over, my son was devastated and didn’t understand why his best friend could not receive a proper send off with all the rituals that a human passing receives. I contacted the Courtice Funeral Chapel with a request for a proper celebration and memorial for our furry family memeber and right from the get-go, John and his staff were excepting, warm, kind and professional. Reverend Kate Harrison met with my son to learn all the wonderful and memorable story’s about Buddy and his life with my son. She did a beautiful service and eulogy. The room was warm, and tastefully set-up and decorated. Coffee, tea, water and juice were available and Reverend Kate even hand crafted 20 beautiful keepsake’s for my son and his friends. A place to celebrate our animal’s life, in my opinion, is so very much needed. Yes our vets can have our pets separately cremated and yes there are pet cemeteries to lay them to rest but to my knowledge; their is no place to have a proper memorial for them when their time comes. People love their fur baby’s, sometimes even more then their own family member’s. For people with special needs, seniors, people who are more introverted etc....sometimes their dog or cat is their main connection and sorce of love and support. A service animal’s bond with his/her human is unparallel. People who love their animals, should have access to a proper place with all the ritual of death that bring comfort at the time. Thank you Courtice Funeral Chapel, John, David, Bob and Reverend Kate for opening your hearts and your chapel to my son and his dog Buddy. Thank you for allowing my son to greive openly in a comfortable space and allowing him the opportunity to honour his best friend in a manner he’s familiar with. Thank you for recognizing his needs and the need for this type of service and for being trendsetter’s. You will alway be my funeral chapel.
We directly worked with Taylor, Calvin and James during the passing of my papa. I can't put into words how amazing this team is... They are the most professional, compassionate and good hearted people I've had the pleasure to meet. When the time comes to make arrangements for myself, this is where I will be doing it. You ALL are in the right field, never change. Special Moment: After the mass was completed, James and Taylor ask my mom and myself if there is anywhere we would like to go for the last time with my papa. We asked if we could take a drive by our house where he had lived for his last two months and also passed. When we came to our house James and Taylor stopped the car, got out and placed a rose on our front porch. Our whole family burst into tears, it was so touching... And we will never forget that. Thank you all so much for everything you did for my family, I can't say it enough. Outstanding work.
Julie and the staff are simply awesome. Julie's caring and compassion helped me through the most heartbreaking time of my life. The care, respect and dignity they provided for my mother, touched my heart. On behalf of my brother, sister and myself we can't thank you enough. Highly recommend the awesome professionals at the Courtice Funeral Chapel
Respect, empathy, kindness...just can't say enough about our experience. Ask to speak with James Munroe. He is the epitome of all of these traits. Your family will not be disappointed on how your every wish on how you say goodbye to your loved one is taken care of no matter how great or small. Thank you James and staff!
Recently we lost a loved one and contacted Courtice Funeral Chapel in Courtice. From beginning to end, it was a very positive and comfortable experience. The staff here are exceptional, professional, detail oriented and very compassionate. Losing a loved one is never an easy experience but Sandra, Nancy, John and Calvin made it so much more easier and less stressful by providing such a warm and caring atmosphere. The funeral home is amazing but it is the staff that make it easier during the difficult time. Dignity Memorial should be very proud of this exceptional staff.
Very caring and compassionate people!
Despite being in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, the staff have been incredibly accommodating and have gone above and beyond expectations. Even as far as offering to pick up groceries for my widowed grandmother.
To say that that this was a fantastic experience given the circumstances would be an absolute understatement. Lori-Ann was exceptional. She was very attentive to our family’s sensitive dynamics. She catered to that without hesitation or being prompted to. She saw what needed to be done/said and she acted in the utmost classy fashion. Everything we needed/wanted was presented without delay. We cannot thank you enough from the bottom of our hearts. You will forever have a place in our hearts! Thank you!
This Covid pandemic brought many challenges for all of us. Losing someone to it was devastating as we had no contact before the loss and then we had no closure. The staff at Courtice Funeral Chapel were most helpful carefully walking us through this new procedure. While we are still hoping to have a celebration of life later they too invited us and want to help. It's their compassion, quality and knowing that all things were done well that helped the family though it. We appreciate them as we do the ICU staff at Lakeridge Oshawa Martin Ward for Wilkes
I must say that all members from the Courtice Funeral Chapel went above and beyond to meet our needs to honor my father. They were all very pleasant and understanding during this difficult time. Their warmth, kindness and ability to provide a beautiful service during this time was absolutely appreciated. They certainly had everything covered and helped every step of the way, which alleviated great stress. Thank you to all of you for such a beautiful service and all the lovely gestures you provided and continue to provide even after my father's funeral. Thank You

Our family would like to thank David Mankiewicz and all the staff for your compassionate care and assistance with our beloved sister's service. You were very professional, yet very personal and happy to answer any question or concern that we had. Your facility is very comfortable and accommodating and you made us feel like family. Thank you so very much for making this difficult time a little easier! The Levick family!
We held my fathers funeral at this location on September 21st. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Our funeral director, James made everything run smoothly and made us feel very comfortable. None of our family members were looking forward to this day but James made everything easy for us by taking care of every last detail and was extremely professional. James is an incredible human with great empathy of people. I highly recommend the courtice funeral chapel to anyone who has lost a loved one. Thank you James for all your compassion. My Father passed away in 2014. Now My Husband in 2020. The same Person by the Name of Ronald, took Care of My Family both times. Ronald is a God Send! There was Not a request too small nor too large that was not taken Care of, down to the tiniest Detail! Ronald made sure that Every Member of His Team was Compatible with Myself. Trust Me.... a Difficult task on a good day. Every step of the Journey was handled with the Utmost Respect and Dignity. No One wishes to go through Losing Your Soul-Mate at any time during Your Life! God is Never Wrong! Without the Grace of God and All the Support and Care that Ronald and His Hand-Picked Team gave, I Never would have Survived this Loss! With Sincere Gratitude and Appreciation, Robin Moore and Family.
I highly recommend Dignity Memorial in Courtice for funeral services.
