Caughman-Harman made a heart breaking occasion easier. My husband and I have had our cremation planned and paid for for quite a while. The staff helped me and my children change a few things he had planned without a problem and the memorial service was as nice as I could want it to be. Every one I met was caring and understanding.

I used them for my mother in Sept 2019 and experienced many mistakes with them. They adamantly assured me they would do better with me father which would be further downstream. Unfortunately my father died April 2020. We were overcharged and promised a $913 refund. We didn’t even have a service because of the virus, yet were charged $40 for a sign in book which I returned. After three conversations, we still do not have a refund. We even bought the advance insurance, making all decisions in advance which did nothing to help. Some of the decisions were lost. I had to still pick out things. Just an endless list of things boggled that kept always on edge waiting to see what else was wrong. Even with a second try, they made the experience trying.

From the very first time I called everyone was so very helpful and compassionate. The facility it beautiful and every person truly cares. Caughman Harman Funeral home in Lexington helped make the celebration of my mother’s life a memorable and beautiful experience. Ashley and his staff made certain to include the things that were special to my mom: kayaking, the color blue, her favorite candies, her love of flowers. They arranged for someone to play and sing her favorite hymns during the service in the lovely chapel. The catered reception food was delicious. They took care of all the details of my mom’s service so we could celebrate her life and say a final goodbye.

Brett Caughman went over and over to make sure we were taken care of during this tough time. He was very professional, well-spoken and caring during the meeting to make the arrangements for our loved one. He made recommendations and helped with any concerns making this hard plans. He would check on us daily and make sure that we had everything or needed anything. We chose not to but a picture on obituary and his staff knew he was a avid gamecock fan and loved to sing. Funerals and planning of them is never an easy time, but the Caughman brothers, Brent and Todd take the time to make the family comfortable and well-taken care of during this difficult time. Todd Caughman earned my mother's and my respect and absolute trust within 10 minutes of talking with him. Cancer is a horrible disease and has devastated our family among many others. My father lost his fight with it on 4/8/19. He fought long and hard. Seeing what cancer did to him completely broke our hearts. Especially my mom...his wife of 59 years. She was and still is heartbroken beyond what words can describe. Finding help with taking care of his final journey and helping us get prepared for final arrangements wasnt something we were comfortable with to say the least. Harmon-Caughman came highly recommended by a very close family friend. I just cant express and say it enough....Thank you Todd....from the bottom to the top of my heart and all that I am...thank you. Todd Caughman helped my mother and I more than he can and will ever know or understand. It had been a very long horrible few weeks before we sat down with Todd to go over everything. We knew within 5 minutes we made the right choice. He made my mother smile, cry tears of joy, feel completely comfortable, and treated her with the upmost respect and I will never forget that. My mother passed away recently and William was very nice about everything but I called back later just to ask if my mother’s death certificates had come in. I spoke to a pretty rude woman and was told she couldn’t answer that question because I didn’t sign the paperwork, only my brother did. I was told William would call me back in a half hour. Well, about 5 hours later I called again since I never received a call back and spoke to another snooty woman who finally let me talk to William. Once again, he was very helpful but I told him those girls were very rude and my experience was very upsetting. My question was a yes or no, no other personal information. I was treated better at DHEC where I went to get copies of my mom’s death certificate.UPDATE. I did receive an email from the manager and I did email him on August 27 telling him I had a lot going on after my mother’s death but did give him my contact information. September 10th he emails me to call him and all I got was his voicemail. I tried many times to call and even answered his email stating I got his voicemail. I never heard back from him, pretty poor communication with him. UPDATE 10/19/21. Still no communication from them, pretty sad they take your money and then forget you. Very bad customer service.

We were very disappointed to learn that there were no requirements for masks and social distancing, that once inside, the choice was up to each individual. Pews were not taped for distancing, as they are in most churches during this pandemic. We did not attend my husband’s brother’s funeral, as a result. We have been quite upset. Note... Mr. Caughman called me to discuss this issue. He said that in the future he would tape pews in the chapel so people would be properly distanced, and he would ask the sheriff’s department what could be done to enforce the wearing of masks once people are inside. I suggest that visitors call ahead to make sure proper precautions are being taken during this pandemic.
