My uncle passed suddenly on May 25. He had prepaid for his funeral with simply alternative, so naturally, we continued with them. Come to find out later, they wouldn't allow us to have a viewing! They said that because of covid 19 rules made by the government, only 10 persons were allowed inside at one time. That I understand and I know to be true ... But their interpretation is that only 10 ppl from the family can be in the building at one time FOR THE ENTIRE FUNERAL! They said if the 10 people left, they would need "30 mins to sanitize" before the next 10 could come in... Sanitize what?! The air?! This is a boldface LIE! There are many funeral homes who allow family and friends to have a viewing before the burial, DURING pandemic. I went to a schoolmates funeral last year in June 2020, and the funeral home allowed over 200 people to see him off at the viewing. They allowed 10 people inside at one time to view the body, and when they leave, they let another 10 come in and so forth until everyone had seen the body (obviously wearing masks and social distancing when Possible). No 30 mins sanitation periods between each 10 persons. The only thing you may touch is a pen when writing your name down in the registry. So they lied to us saying it's the government and if they allow a different set of 10 people inside they would lose their license. If that's really the case, the other funeral homes would have lost theirs too. But here they are. Still standing and providing REAL services to loved ones who are grieving. This means they just didn't want to put in the extra work to let everyone see my uncle the day before the burial. Because when you go in to view the body, you're not touching up the place. So I was confused when they said we'd need 30 mins to sanitize the place after 10 people come in. I, as well has hundreds of friends and family, didn't get to see my uncle and say our final goodbyes because of their lies and selfishness. We will have to live with this pain forever. My family used this funeral home to bury 3 family members and this is the respect we get. We even called the city to see if they would persuade them to allow us to have a viewing. They wouldn't budge. We were willing to pay the extra $800 for the viewing and they still said no. Never again will we use them. And don't bother to apologize because you knew what you were doing and still did what you did. By the way, the funeral home I went to for my schoolmates burial was 7 mins away from this one. So again, don't apologize and try to lie your way out of this. Apologies not accepted.
